12th October 2022 - Day 109This is so ridiculous!
Why am I still here?
I've been here for over 100 days now and the doctors keep saying that I'm "not ready to leave". People are coming and going, and I'm stuck here for the rest of my life! I've finally had enough!
Come New Year's Eve, if I'm still here, I don't want to see the new year. I want to be out, celebrating with my friends. But if I can't celebrate with my friends on the outside, I suppose I'll have to make friends on the inside to celebrate the passing of our lives together.yours sincerely, arthur james
welcome to saint margaret private hospitalWelcome to Saint Margaret Private Hospital, the only private stand-alone psychiatric teaching hospital in the state of Ohio. Located on a 10-hectare (25-acre) site, this hospital tends to 178 patients with 320 nurses on staff. Saint Margaret is a fully accredited psychiatric teaching hospital and has research and educational facilities located on campus; and has been used as a central training facility for medical, nursing and other health professionals specialising in mental health.
As part of its ongoing research, Saint Margaret has focused on the impact of group therapy sessions on individual patients. They believe that healing begins when placed in group settings and through exercising empathy for others. Patients are split into randomized groups and often made to eat together, participate in team-building activities, spend their free time amongst others, and speak their truth publicly within group therapy sessions. Of course, itโs not for everyone, and you will find someone with a couple of loose threads. Although solitary confinement is frowned upon, sometimes itโs just whatโs best for those in pain.
One loose thread, Andrew James, has made his name known amongst the patients and staff in Saint Margaret. While the doctors and nurses find his ramblings that of an unstable person, some of the patients have come to realise that maybe - just maybe - Andrew is the sane one. After being brought back from solitary, Andrew has been placed in a new group. Soon after meeting his new friends, Andrew announces to them that come New Years Eve, if heโs still stuck in the hospital, heโs planning on ending his life. He invites others to join him, in making a pact. Because they can stop one person from trying to end it all, but they canโt stop all of them, right?
The crazy thing isโฆ people are agreeing.
And so, that is how The Lonely Hearts Pact began.

the plotThank you for taking the time to read about The Lonely Hearts Pact! This modern-day, realistic open roleplay is centred around the patients who are residing at Saint Margaret Private Hospital situated in the state of Ohio. However, these particular patients are those who have heard Andrewโs ideas and have come to the conclusion that heโs right; that this pact is the only true way out of the hospital. Over the next few weeks, will our patients heal enough to be allowed back into society? Or will New Year's Eve come, and they find themselves having to deal with their decision to join this pact? Have they finally found their reason to stay?

the rolesThere are no set roles for this open roleplay. However, there are some guidelines for character creation to ensure others are miseducated about certain topics and their mental illness isnโt romanticised. Before posting your character sheet, you will be required to pitch your character idea within the discord server. From there, you will create your character sheet to be approved.
When creating your character, I ask for three things: your character must be over the age of eighteen (including their face claim), you do thorough research on any mental illness topics to ensure your characterโs portrayal isnโt romanticised or harmful, and for face claims to be realistic.all are welcome

I'd love for the word count to at least hit the 500 word mark. Don't just give us a bone: we want some juicy meat too please.
