IC Lore: The Legend of Zelda: Return of Ganon Lore
As you may know, the Goddess Hylia plays a little game every thousand years. Reincarnates of the wielders of the Triforce appear every few thousand years: a male Gerudo oft named Ganon; the heir to the throne, Zelda; and the Chosen Hero, Link.
However, this precarious balance hasn't quite figured itself out yet, and it's showing.
Many scholars have been noting the ever more belated arrival of the Hero. The most recent, the Hero of the Wild, defeated Calamity Ganon a full 100 years after his rise to power. They fear the hero may not even be victorious this upcoming cycle.
Enter Ganondorf.
His rise to power against the rightful King of Hyrule was nothing less of a cakewalk. After instating his rule, he eagerly awaited the Deus ex Machina that is the Hero. Unfortunately, none have appeared in the nearly two hundred years since Ganon's rise to power.
The other kingdoms, the Gerudos, the Zoras, the Gorons, the Ritos, have begun conglomerating their forces in a last ditch attempt to overthrow the wielder of the Triforce of Power, the King of Thieves, the Dark Lord himself, Ganondorf.
