Protagonist I think it does seem like you're interested in being a player, and I don't know that I've seen anyone be both a player and the DM for the same campain. However, I don't know that that means it's a bad idea. I'd agree that there isn't an introductory world state post like i'd expect, but at the same time I've seen the gist of the information around in a few places.

There used to be before the first change away from this format, but now that they've come back It doesn't appear that they've re-added the function.
We can use screencaps of the wizard of the coast dice roller? That will show that you didn't just spam roll, at least

Oh, I thought I posted this: In the future, I think I'll just roll everyone's initiative for them at the start of battles.
Is it alright with everyone else if I just assume you go to the Town square so I can roll initiative for you?

Also, if you like I can make a gridmap of the square if you guys want me to.
