Basic Information

Age: 17
Date of Birth: October 23
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Straight
Affiliations: French
Prior Affiliations: None
Occupation: Shepherd’s Daughter

What do they look like?

Appeared Age: 17
Height/Weight: 5’3”/136 lbs (Roughly 62 kg)
Skin Color: Fair Complexion (Caucasian)
Build: Sabine has a lithe, pear shaped build from helping her father around the farm and tending sheep.
Eye color: Gold/Green
Hair color: Her glowing blonde tresses fall about her shoulders at a medium length, and has brown undertones with natural gold highlights. Her hair, when dry, tends to have a wavy S pattern to it that curls hear and there. When wet, the waves are straighter.

Fashion/Hair style: She tends to wear simple clothing, which usually consists of a simple sleeved tunic dress, with a vertical slit, usually laced, at the bodice. The borders and hems of her dresses are decorated with flower embroidery—usually her favorite flower, anemones. She usually wears a cloak to hide her hair, as it was the way for all maidens in her village. It is usually bound in a serviceable braid since it tends to get in the way when she is working. However, when by herself she will usually let her hair free to let it blow in the breeze.

Tattoos: None
Base Alignment: Neutral good
Personality: Sabine is a headstrong and intelligent girl. She is curious about the world beyond her village due to reading the few books in her possession. Her childhood was spent in secret hideaways, usually at her secret cove by the sea, pouring over the texts on the pages by only the light of a flickering candle. Those books became her lifeline to the world outside, her one hope that maybe someday she might find something greater. A compassionate and loving girl, Sabine cares about others’ wellbeing. Usually at the expense of herself. At times, she can be rebellious and impetuous. These traits usually are shown in her propensity to get her hands dirty rather than plan. This usually gets her into trouble.

Brief History: Sabine grew up a happy child in a small modest cottage outside the seaside town of Calais. She is the daughter of Gervaise Berger, the town shepherd. During one of the many trips to the market with her father to sell wool, she met Esme, the tailor’s daughter. They were soon fast friends, so close that some saw them as sisters. Esme, being the adventurous and mischievous one, led Sabine in many adventures. These escapades usually ended in chaos for the rest of the villagers. As a result, they usually got into trouble.
A few years later, a terrible storm hit—hitting Calais by surprise. Gervaise had been tending to the sheep when it hit. Joceline made, first, sure her daughter was safe inside the house and then ran out into the storm to aid her husband in saving the flock. Sabine’s parents moved the animals into the barn outside their house. Then a few days later, Gervaise and Joceline , came down with lung fever (phenomena). Both were bedridden for days, constantly being cared for by a family friend. Eventually, Gervaise recovered…Joceline did not. Sabine became withdrawn and quiet for several years after that. Gone was her boisterous laugh and bright smile. Gervaise thought all was lost until a band of gypsies came upon Calais. They were outsiders, no one would have anything to do with them. Desperate, Sabine’s father brought her to a show the troupe were performing in the town square.
At first, she seemed bored and uninterested, but as the show went on, she began to follow one of the performers. A girl, her age dancing and entrancing the crowd around her. This performer, noticed Sabine’s expression, and pulled the young depressed girl into dance with her. She allowed Sabine to return to her father’s side when her dance had concluded. After that, it seemed as though every act following, would pull Sabine into every performance. By the end of it, the young girl looked happier then she had in years. Gervaise was so overjoyed that he invited the dancer into his home. He served what meager offerings he had and made it so that she, and the others in the troupe, were always welcome. And so, during their stay in Calais, the girl would visit often. When it was time for the gyspies to move on, Sabine was quite sad to lose her new friend. As a parting gift, the dancer gave Sabine her a cloak, one of her bejeweled chokers, and a gown.
Because of Sabine’s friendship with the troupe, this allowed her to almost return to her former self. She helped her father whenever she could, prepared meals, so on and so forth. Now, four years have passed, and Sabine is now seventeen. Although she enjoys her current life, something calls her, willing her to leave it behind, and explore the world she learned about from her books.

Equipment: Being a simple Shepard’s daughter, Sabine owns very little except for garments left to her by her a passing gypsy she befriended as a child and a few books. They are a royal purple cloak that has gold floral embroidery, a bejeweled choker, and velveteen gown. She hides this from her parents as these are her only prized possessions.

Quirks/Miscellany: As she is a horrible liar, even though she tries, Sabine tends to either outright bite her lip or chew the inside of her cheek. She also does this when nervous. Another quirk that she has, is that she will twirl her hair when in deep thought.
Friends: Esme Couture, the tailor’s daughter. As children, the two were known to cause mischief in the village.
Family: Gervaise Berger (Father), Joceline Berger (Mother, deceased)
Enemies: None
