7. I'm not picky about post length, but do your best to keep it consistent.

8. Ask for permission for shipping with another character and/or creating major plot events.

CHARACTER CLASSES

You must keep in mind the following limitations of each class in your bios and roleplaying posts. Learning a new spell or skill must be cleared by me first. All characters will begin the roleplay at the starting level of their respective class.

  • (0/2) TWO AVAILABLE

A long-range mage who casts elemental offensive spells. Wields some sort of small, enchanted object.

    STATS
    Attack: High
    Defense: High
    Magic Attack: Low
    Magic Defense: Medium
    Speed: Low

CHARACTER FORM

You may decorate your form to any extent you wish, but this is the information that must be present. Delete anything that is not bold.

Username: Self-explanatory but just for reference.
Name:Your character's full first and last name. Include any titles, nicknames, or middle names if they have them.
Gender:Male or female. Ask me for permission if you want to use a trans character or a different gender identity.
Age:The age of this group of soldiers will range from 18-25, no exceptions. Keep in mind for your bios that the minimum age for entering the military is 18. Please no, "is X years old but looks X."
Appearance: Provide a 2-3 paragraph description describing facial features, coloring, build, body type, complexion, and apparel. No images of real people or established characters.
Personality: Talk about how your character normally acts. What do they do to make themselves happy? How do they approach a problem or possible solutions? How do they approach emotion or fear? These are questions to keep in mind when writing. 3-4 paragraphs.
Hometown: Because Escura has isolated itself from the Solis-powered cities for centuries, your character must come from any named city other than Escura. Most members of the military are natives of Lumen, but there has lately been a growing minority of soldiers who hail from other Solis-powered cities.
Brief Bio: This should include early childhood, important events, and growth into the person they are today. Remember that every character has entered the military and has been assigned to the Council Vanguard, and all characters are new or mildly proficient in their classes. Classes are assigned upon entry into the military or military academy, but your character may have had practice with their weapon beforehand. If you are a mage, you must already know some basic spells before the beginning of the roleplay. Additionally, your character is not allowed to hold a leadership position in the military. The Brief Bio must be at least ten sentences AND fourteen lines.
Class: Choose from the following starting classes: Black Mage, Knight, Marksman, Rogue, Warrior, or White Mage. You may change or upgrade your class at a later point in time.
Weapon(s): One weapon (or set of weapons) must make sense with your class. Your character may also hold a secondary weapon that they are less proficient with. Keep in mind that your character will have to carry these weapons everywhere, so something like two giant hammers won't be allowed due to human limitations.
Other (optional): Text color? MBTI? Theme song?

MORGAN ST. CLAIR
Marksman | 19 | Female

USERNAME Penumbra
CHARACTER NAME Morgan Katherine St. Clair
GENDER Female
AGE 19 years old
APPEARANCE Morgan takes pride in her physique, though she stands at only 5'2". Thanks to her training, it is clear to almost anyone that she has lean, toned muscles that compensate her height. She isn't conventionally beautiful, but her gray-blue eyes stand out against her wavy dark hair, perfectly coiffed an inch below her chin, and a medium-olive complexion. Her features are a blend of hard-set angles and delicate curves, with shadows of cheekbones and an aquiline nose. Dark, full lips and narrow eyes, almost feline. Her skin is smooth and clear, eyebrows perfectly plucked and identical on both sides. The perfection and severity of her beauty is striking, yet intimidating at the same time. Her military attire consists of a tight short-sleeved sweater under a nylon vest, protective workgloves, and BDU pants tucked into sturdy boots. When not dressed for battle, Morgan prefers to wear dark colored skirts and blouses, and practical heels. She always has a silver men's ring on a chain around her neck.
PERSONALITY When first meeting new people, Morgan usually comes off as coolly pleasant at best or downright emotionless or politely disdainful at worst. However, saying that she has no feelings is hurtful to her. The impression does not come without some backing, though - as someone with little patience for laziness and stupidity, Morgan can easily be exasperated by the idiocy in the world. Once she forms a negative impression of someone, it is very difficult for her to shake off those feelings. A very easy way for any new acquaintance to get Morgan to instantly dislike them is for them to compare her with her family, especially her father. She loathes this specifically because she has constantly felt pressured to live up to the expectations that her father set, because of her family's military history and her brother's successes.

While she prefers to keep to herself much of the time, she can hold a conversation exceptionally well when she has no choice but to interact with others. She assumes authority naturally, by taking initiative and respectfully listening to suggestions and offering her own. Despite the staidness she may project, her sense of humor is dry and rather facetious, but subtle; noticed only by the person she directs it towards. Morgan is also known for being an extremely hard worker, stopping at seemingly nothing to achieve her goals even at the cost of her own well-being. She strongly believes that anyone who puts in the effort for something will be able to get the desired results in time.

When Morgan thinks she is correct, or rather, knows she makes the right decisions, it is extremely difficult for anyone to change her mind. She is rarely faulted as being in the wrong, but when she is, she will back the hapless soul into a verbal corner and emasculate them with clever argumentation until they admit their mistake. If she considers them too insignificant to spend her precious time rebutting, she will simply ignore them.
HOMETOWN Lumen
BRIEF BIO Morgan Katherine St. Clair was born into an affluent household in Lumen, revered for many generations for its strong military prowess on both sides. Before retirement, her father Anthony was once the commander of Lumen's army, and her mother Muretta was Anthony's most trusted tactician. Morgan's brother Rhys is a knight, currently stationed in Rialto.

As the younger sibling, Morgan always felt as if she were living in her family's, specifically her brother's, shadow. She was always known as Rhys' sister. Though Morgan loved her brother and looked up to him, she despised being compared to him and his successes. As a result, introductions became painful necessities for her. Rhys had no trouble making friends, and seemed more like a carbon-copy of their father with each passing year. In contrast, Morgan rarely seemed interested in making friends with anyone, instead burying herself in schoolwork to distract herself from feeling isolated.

When the time came for Morgan to go to college, her parents gave her little choice. Whether or not she liked it, she was bound to a career in medicine or law to balance her brothers' military birthright. However, the army was desperate to have the chance of another prodigy in their ranks, and Morgan, deciding to make her life her own, applied to the academy against her parents' wishes. After displaying high aptitude in a range of weapons in both the knight and marksman classes, she chose the gun to distance herself from her brother. It was an impersonal weapon, suited to Morgan's aloof nature.

At the academy, Morgan excelled as usual in her classes, working tirelessly to live up to the expectations that her father set, despite the rift she placed between them. She came to love the simple action of unholster, flick, point, and shoot, including a few beginner magic electives to strengthen and augment her arsenal. When she graduated a year early from the academy, she was given the position of overseer of a new segment on the front lines, the Council Vanguard. While this brigade was technically the worst of them all, she couldn't complain about having a leadership position right away. Unfortunately, Morgan couldn't exactly say the same about her current comrades, who seemed less than welcoming at first to a green soldier in charge.

Other than honing her skills, patrol duty with the Council Vanguard wasn't particularly exciting to her. As Morgan read more and more alarming news of the approaching energy crisis and the recent monster infestations, she remained ever vigilant about keeping up with her responsibilities. She made sure that her soldiers also took their job seriously even if they were assigned to one of the most deserted areas of the city, the abandoned Leseli Chapel. Though Morgan never expected anything strange to arrive at her post, it was still imperative of her to keep it under control.
CLASS Marksman
WEAPONS 1. An AR-15 SIG Sauer. Preferring function over fashion, the semi-automatic rifle is less streamlined but more durable than newer weapons on the market. It's comfortable in her grip and low-maintenance.

2. A 9mm Glock 19. The second choice was made out of necessity of covering her weaknesses. With its short range automatic fire, it was an easy choice. That said, Morgan has never gotten used to the recoil from automatic weapons like this, and her precision is much lower than when she's using a semi auto.
OTHER Equipment: Carries a tourniquet at all times.
Theme Song: Honor Thy Father by Dream Theater

CHARACTER FORM:

Username: Shura-Yoon
Name: Riyus Lunaclad Solari
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Hometown: Lumen
Appearance: (Image credit goes to myself.)
hPfw36U.png

His close colleagues and family have always told Riyus that he resembled his mother more than his own father, much to the latter's ire. At a glance, one might even mistake the delicate-looking young man for a woman. But the piercing amber-lit eyes and furrowed expression would dissuade such a notion. Any mention of it, however, have been met with a well-practiced smile and quick dismissal. Refined and polite, the nobleman is obviously no slouch when it came learning how to uphold his family's reputation and namesake in the public eye. Brim and proper to a tee, from his staunch stance (at a respectable 6'4) to his accented mannerisms, Riyus is the cardinal example of a 'pure-bred' child. Inheriting chosen genes and raised by the effect of lofty entitlements, it can be seen in every simple aspect of the man and who he is. Who he is made out in the image of. His platinum blonde hair is groomed finely every morning and his narrow face is washed regularly, resulting in smooth, pale skin glimmering like a slate of porcelain. Never is he allowed to be seen otherwise. With bit of customary make-up and eye-enhancements to add a touch of extra 'refinement', much to his own personal annoyance, and it would appear Riyus has no physical flaws to speak of. A son of the Solari lineage through and through. Even his attire since joining the military in cordial service has been tailor-made out of the finest material, affixed with ornate metal to resemble the ancient 'knights' and 'heroes' by which the Solari family has earned their prestige and honor. One that he seems to share no genuine love for.
Personality:
Riyus is more than used to doing what he is told. It has been his entire life. Some who have known him since childhood may report a more rebellious, rambunctious nature. The young boy would pull grand pranks and mock the overly-serious nature of the entirety of nobility itself, but such acts have since been bled out through the years of private tutoring and discipline. Riyus has long taken into an image of what is expect of him, even exceeding such. Ever since his enrollment in the military, the qualities of his noble upbringing have allowed him to earn the trust and respect of any commanding officer he has been assigned underneath. But in the heat of battle, something about the man changes. It is as if he wishes to make a parody of his own expectations. Those who have served beside him have noted his lack of fear, particularly towards the thought of death. To him, it might even be a glory. He will eagerly stand in front of a bullet if it meant he could serve in the interest of his nation, his family. Or so he always proclaims. There seems to be a deep spite in his self-sacrificing actions and pious attitude, as though whenever he announces the name of his family in an act of glory, it is also to curse it. At times, it would seem he enjoys the thought of an impossibly difficult challenge, or undertaking a perilous adventure. At the thought of failure.

But do not mistake those as virtues. Riyus is a cold and spiteful man in private. In his eyes, those who do not fit his standard are quickly reformed or dismissed. He is openly critical and cruel with his comments, as he believes himself only speaking in the benefit of the whole. Because of this, he sometimes clashes with those he does not believe to think rationally, who let emotions cloud their better judgement. Even those above his rank. Commanders who have accounted this head-strong and lacking of respect nature have since tried to smother him through unceremonious duties. His glory hungry actions have also been known to put others at risk of harm many times, though he simple hides the fact through bending around the honour system itself. Because of this continued stubbornness, Riyus has been repeatedly assigned to more and more secluded posts in order to stifle his outcries.

Some might mistake his unsociable and high-standards nature as his 'right' as a noble, but it is more correct to say that it is due to him being a noble. In fact, it would feel like he is rather apathetic towards such a topic. While other nobles would renounce any such slander towards their name, or drone on about their fore bearer's achievements, he does not seem to care any such reputation surrounding the Solari lineage. Negative or positive. Instead, something else appears to be driving him and his bold actions. It may relate him to his family name, as he still aligns himself such a way, but it does not seem to completely connect. This manifests in his need to always look for the next battle, always seeking to put himself in harms way. It might even be considered a tireless obsession. In the same vein, he is equally as withholding towards such information regarding his personal background. This is one of the few instances where he becomes a bit emotional, acting defensive and hostile towards anyone that dares pry. As such, while most comrades may speak highly of him as a soldier, it is not the same about him as a person. Outside of his corrective nature, never does Riyus willingly participate in celebrations, unless mandated, nor does he show any sort of friendliness towards anyone.

Almost like he wishes nothing more than to be forgotten.
Brief Bio:
Born as one of the many sons of the Solari household, Riyus was one of many bred to become a upstanding holder of the noble title, and to carry out their reputation as an prestigious militant family of 'heroes'. Though he tried to defy the harsh treatment and dogmatic ways of the whole noble sphere, by rebelling against the corrupt system itself, such strong emotions were stripped from Riyus when he lost someone very close because of his own radical defiance. He was around twelve years old then. The young upstart noble was never the same after this. It was as if this person was the source of his strength, of who he was. All at once, his confidence and bravado was buried away and kept locked deep inside, the key made lost forever. He promised to never allow such things to bother him again. Ever since then, Riyus has obediently fallen into line and practice, watching blankly as those before him lose their lives for the sake 'of the family name'. Until it was his own turn. Due his own selfless nature, though not of a friendly matter, and his own proficiency towards battle as a result of his life-long training, Riyus quickly earned the attention of high-ups after a few successful missions thought to be impossible. Though he has clear martial skill and talent, his confrontational and reckless attitude wherever he is assigned, from prestigious orders to historied companies, have since landed him in the surly ranks of the Council Vanguard. To put him directly out of harms way, this is their way of tempering his self-glorifying and overly parodying nature. But in secret, things were falling into place. And he uttered a prayer at the opportunity. For he vowed to make amends long before. And only by proving himself against his own lineage would he be granted the chance.
Class: Knight
Weapon(s): Heavy Greatsword - 'Balhamut'
This, among others, are weapon heirlooms passed down to sons and daughters of the Solari bloodline. Due to the magical branding of the weapon, it allows those who have stronger 'bonds' with the weapon to wield the rather cumbersome sized blade with more ease. It seems to somewhat respond to Riyus's will, projecting slight bursts of magic when he blocks or attacks, drawing from his own magical strength in order to do so.

Euclid Leaf Euclid Leaf , your character is PENDING. I love his design and you are a very talented artist. As your application stands, however, I feel a little unsure whether his personality will fit into the Council Vanguard, especially since this platoon is supposed to be the worst. He seems too favored by the army to have been placed there. Who is the loved one whose death caused Riyus to change? Secondly, how did Riyus obtain his weapon? Include this in your bio. You meet all of my stated requirements, but I feel that he seems to be too much of a golden-boy to be in the Council Vanguard. I think you overlooked the fact the Vanguard is not as glamorous as it sounds, which I said in the interest check and mentioned in my own form.

You have forty-eight hours to make changes until I open your spot again. Please notify me when you are finished.

'Don't let go..'

Username:

Ellie the Knight

Name:
Sheela Brizowski

Gender:

Female

Age:
20

  • Appearance:
Sheela, as many other things in the world, is quite fragile. She stands at 5' 5" and usually appears carefree and relaxed. Her skin is pale and cool like a moonlit night, with faded jet black hair that drops no further than her shoulders, often found tied up in a bun. Slim, she has little physical strength, and weighs very little as well. Her face often dawns a carefree smile across her thin lips that compliments her full cheeks, and soft facial features. Along with wide, green eyes that look as deep as the ocean. She also has three small rings piercing her right ear, traveling up the bridge of it.

On duty, Sheela dawns a black tank top and grey combat pants, with black combat boots that add about a inch to her height. Seeing as tank-tops are usually not seen as fit for military life, she also wears a light grey tactical hoodie over it, which is alway partially unzipped. It's her way of staying comfortable while on duty. On it's arms are sewn parts of velcro, which have medical patches stuck to them. As well as many other pockets. Over her hoodie she wears a light tan kevlar vest to protect her. On top of that, a backpack hugs her back. Holding a variety of medical supplies, and other essential things.

Off duty, Sheela tends to prefer loose and light colored clothing. Often this tends to be some sort of shoulderless blouse that can blow in the breeze, and catch the sun. Accompanying this, usually is a skirt with leggings and boots.

Hometown:
Lumen

Class:
White Mage

Weapon(s):
A standard oak staff with black fabric that wraps around the center as a makeshift grip. A staff that was given to her when she first started as a white mage. It holds many memories of late night study sessions.

Ellie the Knight Ellie the Knight , Sheela is ACCEPTED! Welcome to the Council Vanguard! One thing I found interesting was your character's lack of a secondary weapon - she seems to be putting a lot of strain on her upper body, so it may be a hindrance if you decide to include one. That being said, I am confused as to how she is able to carry so much equipment if she has as little strength as you say. It's not a character-breaking error, but something I think you should reconsider.

I adore the way you handled Sheela's backstory. It's rare to see both parents' sides of the story when one dies, and I see Sheela's decision to work at a clinic and join the army as a very healthy way of coping with her losses. I appreciate how she dedicated herself to both of her parents' passions, even if her mother treated her less than favorably and her father passed away.

I can imagine Morgan coming to greatly respect Sheela, or even look up to her ability to be optimistic and find strength in humor, if not her talent and experience in medicine - a topic that greatly interests Morgan. Still, she might be agitated if Sheela isn't able to act quickly during a fight.

marshmarrow marshmarrow
Thank you so much! She was really fun to write! I can't remember the last time I took so long to write a character sheet. I suppose I could fix the upper weight by simply making her plate carrier into something lighter like kevlar, and removing the plates completely? Medical supplies does not weigh a whole lot, so if I take out the plates it would reduce the weight on her upper body considerably! Thanks for pointing that out, I kinda overlooked that.

That's perfect. As a mage, you could simply summon protective spells rather than wear heavy armor. It wasn't something I would tally off points for, but I thought I should point it out. Everything else looks great!

-Username-
Kirito Kei

-Name / Known Aliases-
Kaiden Kro
Also known as 'The Crow'

-Gender-
Male

-Age-
20

-Appearance-
A person's body is a reflection of what type of life they have led, and for Kaiden, this could not have been closer to the truth. The dashing Rogue towers at 5'11" and weighs close to 140 pounds. The mundane aspects of Kaiden's appearance stops here, however. At an attempt to maintain his individuality, he has bleached his hair, causing in to become a stark white, easily allowing him to be picked out of a crowd. His face resembles his mother's, containing sharp but inviting features.

Kaiden's skin is somewhat pasty, having spent most of his time indoors during the day and roaming during the night. After serving his time in the 'big house', Kaiden has accumulated quite a few tattoos. The first, and least noticeable one on a day-to-day basis, is a large pair of striking black wings on his back. While clearing angelic in nature, it is a matter of contention for Kaiden, he constantly argues the fact that they are indeed crow's wings. The group of tattoos is a pair of inscriptions on each wrist in elegant cursive script; on the front of the left wrist, 'No Gods', and on the right, 'No Masters'.

In terms of his physique, Kaiden has forgone large muscles for a more lithe, flexible, yet still strong body structure. When dressed for military operations, Kaiden sports a black neoprene shirt under a tightly fitting military style trench coat, fingerless combat gloves, and tapered pants that he constantly keeps tucked into his boots.

-Personality-
On the surface, Kaiden is acts somewhat childish, however upon deeper analyzation of his character it is apparent that Kaiden is extremely cunning when it comes to manipulating other people and using their emotions for his own gain. The Rogue enjoys finding and pointing out the flaws in other people's characters, especially those in power or those that think they are superior to him in some way. While all of this makes Kaiden seem like a manipulative jerk at times, he acts this way because he truly doesn't understand his own emotions most the time and wonders why he sometimes acts the way he does.

In Kaiden's mind there is no such thing as 'good' or 'bad' people, instead he believes that there are those that go out and do what they want, and then there are those that are contempt living under the thumb of others, never going out and living their life to the fullest. Throughout his life, Kaiden has tried his best to fit into the former rather than the latter, a lifestyle that has landed him in plenty of trouble. Kaiden believes that titles such as 'criminal' and other labels mean nothing and that in the end everyone dies, so he might as well live his without regard for what others might think of him.

In conversation, Kaiden can sometimes come off as cynical and pessimistic with a dark sense of humor. He is an existentialist, believing that people forge their own destiny and that there is no such thing as 'fate'. He often has problems with authority, however after enlisting in the military, he has realized the organization that the command structure provides and has no plans of defying orders any time soon. This obedience will not stop him from forming his own opinion and openly judging their intelligence, though.

-Brief Bio-

Kaiden, along with his younger brother, Kalian was born to a pair of relatively wealthy parents in Lumen. His father, an aspiring architect, having played a part in the construction of many of the golden buildings in Lumen, his mother, a up-and-coming actress who had gotten many roles in less well known television shows and movies. While Kaiden or his brother rarely got a chance to see their parents, they always knew in their hearts that their parents were doing the best they could to care for them. Having no one to socialize with, Kaiden spent most of his time with his brother, eventually building a close bond. The two were best friends, and it was safe to say that they had many fun adventures together, not to mention they just enjoyed each other's company.

Soon after Kaiden's fourteenth birthday, his brother, who was ten at the time, contracted a rare and deadly disease. A disease that while treatable, was extremely expensive to do so. While relatively well off, Kaiden's family did not have enough money to pay for their son's treatment. Kaiden, terrified as he watched as his brother slowly deteriorate in front of him, couldn't understand why such a bad thing was happening to his family.

Why did it have to be his brother that this was happening to? No one in his family ever did anything wrong. If there really was a god, why would he allow such a awful thing to happen to good people? Unable to accept what was happening, Kaiden made a resolution to help his brother. After all, if the world wasn't gonna play fair, then why should he?

Using his father's written designs of various buildings in Lumen, Kaiden became infamous overnight. Week after week, news reports chattered about the mysterious 'Crow', a serial burglar who always seemed to know the perfect entry point into any building, and always managed to make his escape hours before the authorities even knew what had happened. Around the same time, a mysterious benefactor began to pay Kalian's hospital bill, something Kaiden's family couldn't turn down.

As Kaiden continued stealing from the people of Lumen, he discovered that he had a knack for acquiring things that weren't his. Regardless of how skilled he was, however, Kaiden eventually tripped up. His luck having ran out, Kaiden was quickly caught by the authorities.

Thanks to the little money that his parent's had left, Kaiden was able to get good representation in court. He was originally sentenced to ten years in prison, however, a military officer too interest in Kaiden, particularly his knack regarding stealth and deceit. WIth the officer's intervention, it was decided that Kaiden would instead be sentenced to five years in prison, and then enlisted into the military for the remainder of the other five years.

Now at the end of his five-year prison sentence, Kaiden now lurks in the shadows for the benefit of all in Aubade. Combining deadly claws with stealth magic and deceitful tactics, he will not show his enemies mercy.

-Class-

Rogue

-Weapon(s)-

Titanium Alloy Claws - Kaiden's main weapon of choice is a set of removable claws. They are about an inch and a half long. The characteristics of titanium alloy allows it to have very high tensile strength and toughness even at extreme temperatures. They are light in weight, have extraordinary corrosion resistance and the ability to withstand extreme temperatures.

Beretta 93R - Despite Kaiden's disdainful view of firearms due to their unpredictability, Kaiden realized his need to have a ranged weapon. While it is hard enough for him to aim the thing in single-fire mode, the weapon also has a three-round burst mode.

Kirito Kei Kirito Kei , Kaiden is ACCEPTED! Welcome to the Council Vanguard! Your character is very clever in design, and aside from a few grammatical errors, his attributes mesh together well across his appearance, personality, and history. It will be interesting to see how he copes with being in the field after his experience in prison. I can imagine him questioning Morgan's small piece of authority and not fitting in well in the structure of the army if he is more of a "free spirit." His tattoos should be covered while on duty, which seems to be taken care of with his gloves.

His talent for breaking and entering was a smart touch. I like to see bios flow into a character's demeanor and appearance, which all of you have pulled off very well. Just a few questions about his nickname - is "The Crow" the name he gave himself or a moniker given by the media? Does he prefer to be called "Crow" by his fellow soldiers?

Sorry for the grammatical errors, I spent the last few days battling with writer's block so I got a little excited when I finally had something to write down.

'The Crow' originally started off as a simple identifier given to Kaiden to easily represent him in the media. It was part of the reason why his crimes seemingly became a media sensation overnight. Eventually he took up the name as a sort of trophy, to him it shows his break from what he would call the 'traditional' way of living.

While he doesn't generally show it, he doe get the warm fuzzies whenever someone calls him 'The Crow' and would probably prefer it if it became his call sign or something during his service.

Sure, I'll keep that in mind. I plan on communicating through mostly radio or headsets, so it's good to have a little identifier to make things simpler during combat. It's not required, of course, since we all have pretty short names, but it also might allow a modicum of protection for our identities.

I have posted the roleplay thread. The Last Light

I would like to make my character post first, and I will notify you all when it's up. There is no specific post order, but I need to post first in order to get the ball rolling and successfully carry out what I have planned.

Emi Nebulas Emi Nebulas , your character is PENDING. For several reasons. First of all, her appearance. I don't see how her opinion of artificially pigmented hair is relevant to the subject. Also, she is 18. D-cup breasts may not be realistic to have when she's just coming out of her teenage years, and they are not proportionate to her height - they could be a hindrance in combat. It does not meet the length requirement of 2-3 paragraphs.

As far as her personality, I'm bothered by a few things. Her ability to "memorize an entire law book" does not show any understanding of the material, only the fact that she can remember the order and sequence of the words. Also highly improbable, as there there are people who study law for years and fail the bar exam and there is more than one book a person reads to understand law. In paragraph 3, she is described as handling her problems two ways. I need to be able to predict her response to conflict, whether it be a battle or a verbal argument. She's stated as not being afraid of anything, but then a fear is listed. The example you gave for charisma... has little to do with charisma. Little errors like these, while adding dramatic effect, are only hindering my ability to understand your character. Also, please be more specific than "going full tsundere."

I am having difficulty understanding how her backstory fits into all of this. The story of her parents' death feels flimsy in general, as if it was completely out of the blue. Usually when stuff like this happens, the character would notice (and probably dismiss) warning signs such as fear or tension being present in the household. Same thing with her abuse, it's a worst-case scenario that adds little to the expansion of the character. Something like that would leave more of a residual effect into adulthood, but you don't mention her mental health anywhere else in your bio or personality. How did this affect her emotionally throughout the rest of her life? How does she recover, if at all? Also, eidetic/photographic memory, while it does exist, is exceedingly rare and the ability, along with the memories, fade with age. You also can't "train" it, though it may be easier to remember something if you simply focus on remember it.

Her "life in crime" also seems extremely random. You seem to paint law enforcement as an enemy, but simply knowing your rights isn't much of a weapon when most cops, while there are exceptions, are trained and can produce and serve warrants only as fast as you can decide to cooperate. They're just doing their jobs - they aren't out to get you. I would hardly call that an escape.

" Alexa finally got caught by a military guy, dragging her in. He found out she had something that doesn't even exist, Photographic Memory. He found out that she has been under the radar for over eleven years, and decided she would be useful in the military. She recognized people that were criminals. She recognized people that would lie and cheat. She also had special connections that are willing to give her weapons and such.

She had a choice to choose her weapons, and she prefered physical damage like punching and kicking, but since it was required, she chooses her favorite weapons. A gun, a knife, and a bow. She loves guns because it's "easy to use" and "you can hit targets perfectly". She loves bows because you can determine the speed of the arrow by pulling the string back as far back as you want. She loves ballistic knives because HELLO, throwing knives? It's gold.
"

This section of her bio is frustrating.

"Military guy... decided she would be useful in the military." Military "guys" run background checks. There is no possible way Lumen would ever desire a wanted criminal in their service, unless it was their prison sentence, such is the case of the character of Kirito Kei Kirito Kei , Kaiden.

" She recognized people who were criminals... She also had connections... " Again, what does that have to do with eidetic memory correctly defined? What special connections?

Weapons: pick two, make her more proficient with just one, and explain how/why she chose it. As a gun nut, they are not easy to use and you definitely cannot hit targets perfectly - your gun is only as precise as you and your surroundings. As someone who has some amateur experience with archery, pulling the bowstring as hard as you can only damages the stave and can lead to bodily harm. Throwing knives are dangerous and impractical. I would appreciate better reasoning. How is she a marksman if she is equally proficient with knives as she is ranged weapons?

In general, I'd like to see more effort present in your application. Really flesh out your character - I've set an example and expectations with my form, and so have all accepted characters, and I wish for similar respect and thought to be given to yours. Don't rush to get your form in right away; after all, I don't plan to close this RP for at least a week or two. Ask me questions to make sure that your lore is correct or if you need help developing an idea. You have 48 hours to make these corrections.

marshmarrow marshmarrow I fixed my mistakes. Just let me know if I missed some. I'll gladly fix the mistakes I missed! Again, I would like to say thank you for properly criticizing my OC. I'm overjoyed that someone FINALLY decided to criticize it. Thank you so much, again! I would like to apologize for wasting your time writing all of that. (:

Emi Nebulas Emi Nebulas , I apologize, but I have to DENY you, as that was your second chance. There are still a few problems with your form. First of all, the edits you made feel tacked on to appease my most direct suggestions, but there is very little change regarding the development of Alexa, or really even the story you are trying to tell with the character. I feel that your bio was still generally lacking and not quite cohesive and that only her past trauma stood out, but it was not very fleshed out. Simply substituting information will not encourage me to think you are respecting what I have to say. I pointed out Kirito Kei Kirito Kei 's application for you to get a sense of my expectations, not to mimic their character. I feel you are not showing me the same effort in editing your application as I did critiquing it, and you are not showing the same effort present in every other accepted form. It is important to me that every applicant proves to me they are able to go beyond my explicit expectations - to really explore their character and strengthen their writing ability. Thank you for your interest in The Last Light, and I hope that these critiques will be helpful to you in future RPs.

marshmarrow marshmarrow Oh, okay! Thanks for telling me this. It'll certainly help me in future RPs. However, I would like to point out I wasn't trying to mimic their character. Heck, I never even read their character sheet. Good day to you, and have a wonderful night.

Appearance
Lisbeth is a tall sturdy woman. She towers in at an impressive 6’2” and stands with a calm confidence that is often a comfort to others. Her skin has been light and pale despite long days working and playing out in the sun. Her hair is a chocolatey brown color and drops down to just below her shoulders, though it’s always tied back while on duty. She is very physically fit; her body is well tone and covered with lean muscle giving her an almost traditionally feminine appearance when in baggy clothes. Her face is wide and soft in contrast to the rest of her body. She is almost always sporting a kind smile backed up with beautiful blue eyes that carry with them no hint of malice.

On duty, Lisbeth wears a skintight body suit made from a moisture absorbent synthetic material with a thin layer of gel on the inside meant to help absorb shock and keep her body climate controlled. Over the vital areas of her body Lizbeth’s suit has thick plates made from an artificial metal alloy that provides a nice balance between weight and protection. These plates of metal are over her chest, shoulders, elbows, knees, and stomach. Lisbeth also opted in to have a small half skirt on the back half of the armor to cover her butt, and add a bit of flair to the armor.

While she is off duty, Lisbeth tends to favor loose and comfortable clothes. What she wears usually depends on what she is doing that day. For shopping or friendly visits, she usually chooses lightly colored blouses accompanied by a cute skirt. However, if she plans on working out she wears sweatpants and a tank top.

Personality
The first impression many get of Lizbeth is that she is a kind and jolly soul. While many first impressions are wrong, this is an accurate description of Lisbeth. The Knight finds great joy in making other people smile and bringing cheer to their lives. Whether by using her spending money on buying a crowded bar another round, or by simply holding a door open for someone she will do her best to brighten someone’s day even if it is only by a little.

Lisbeth is a strong proponent of honesty even if that honesty could get her in serious trouble. This policy of open honesty extends as well to her emotions. She tends to be very open with people about her opinions on them. This is usually not a problem since it is very hard to get on Lizbeth’s bad side, but on the rare occasion someone manages to piss off Lizbeth she makes it known to the person. Of course, Lisbeth is always open to forgive someone though it may take a while depending on the severity of the offense. For Lisbeth honesty is a greater kindness than being polite to someone. She sees dishonesty tantamount to thievery because it effectively steals the truth from a person. Even if it were to hurt someone in Lisbeth’s mind the truth is a kindness, because it allows for a cleaner emotional wound and an easier recovery than a lie.

Lisbeth is so much of an optimist and so joyful it can be sickening. She finds the bright side in every situation. She does not believe in a higher power, but instead believes in the power of man. In her mind people shouldn’t sit around and pray to gods, but instead pick themselves up and work with their fellow man to fix their problems. The strong should protect the weak, and the weak should guide the strong. When given an order Lisbeth will think through the order in her head, if she feels that the order is unjust or overly cruel she will be very vocal in her opposition to the command with little concern for if she is discharged. She joined the army to help people, and if she received an order she thought was unjust she’d rather risk any punishment to herself than carry it out.

Brief Bio
Lizbeth was born to a pair of shop keeps that ran a general store that they barely managed to keep afloat. Her family as well as her community was very poor, but very close knit. The lack of money in the community forced the people dwelling in it to rely on each other, rather than try and rely solely on themselves. It was not uncommon for people to share what little they had to help others, often Lizbeth’s family would give away expensive medicines and food simply because someone in the community need it. While she didn’t notice it when she was extremely young as Lisbeth grew older she noticed that often he parents would go to bed hungry so that she did not. It was her parents sacrifices in the form of meals and the generous culture of her community that helped her decide who she wanted to be; she wanted to be just as kind and giving as the people she grew up with. It was this upbringing that shattered her belief in gods and instead allowed her to find faith in the strength and potential of humans as a species.

When Lizbeth came of age she knew that she wanted to do more than just be a shop keep. She wanted to help more than just people in her local community, so she took the only job she knew of that would allow her to fulfill her goals. She enlisted in the military to help spread peace and protect those who were unable to protect themselves. In service to the military she is willing to act as a shield for her squad focused more on protecting her squad than dealing damage to her enemies. Using her naturally sturdy body and high endurance she is willing to take the hits so that other weaker members of her team don't have to.

Weapons
A flanged mace modeled after the Medieval German style. The core and shaft of the weapon is made of solid iron giving the weapon a good amount of weight behind it. The flanges are separate from mace itself and carry a mild electric current behind them with a limited amount of charges to allow for non-lethal take downs.

Her shield is made of the same metal as her armor pieces which provides a decent sturdiness to the weapon while not making it overly heavy. It is modeled after a heater shield.

Vranea Vranea , Lisbeth is currently PENDING. I would like to know more about her fighting style, and her personality and bio seem a little lackluster altogether. How does she balance kindness with honesty? How does she react when given orders? To have a character who has lived simply have simple ambitions and personality is fine, but it's important for me to be able to infer what purpose she will serve to the Vanguard. We already have a character in the knight class, so what skills or attributes make her stand out? What's so special about her weapons, other than their appearance? I'm confused by the "probably" in her mace's description - it either is or isn't. You have 48 hours to make changes accordingly.

You have 48 hours to make a decision, I think you should take some time to consider it before submitting your character a second time. I'd like to roleplay with you, and I'm very patient when it comes to inexperience or motivation, but there is only so much I can do. I don't mean to sound condescending or hostile in my critiques, I am simply stating my observations and I believe any writer will only be as good as they let themselves be. If you're not looking to challenge yourself, which is what I ask of every accepted member, including myself, maybe it is best to step back. It's your call.

I mean, you don't suck ass. I know I am asking for a lot.

marshmarrow marshmarrow Sorry I don't mean to sound like a bummer. I do want to challenge myself and get better, that's why I am trying to get into more roleplays that require a bit more behind them. I think I fixed the issues with my character, but if I didn't I would greatly appreciate more suggestions even if I don't get another shot at making it in to the RP.

Vranea Vranea , I'm happy to say Lisbeth is ACCEPTED! Welcome to the Council Vanguard! I have a much clearer image of your character and their attributes, and I am anticipating the dynamic between her and the shiftier members of our little group. Morgan will most likely respect her ability to be brutally honest, but won't hesitate to correct her if she steps over the line.

Please create a post in the roleplay whenever you are ready. I plan to really advance the plot after Euclid Leaf Euclid Leaf posts with Riyus.

Been busying last week, hope Im not too late! Spent an entire afternoon making this CS. I just can't stop once the fun has begun :D

Severia Severia , Lilybelle is currently PENDING. Your character's armor should serve tactical purpose, and there is also the fact they are no longer in the academy - it may be considered inappropriate for a soldier to wear a uniform that doesn't correctly identify their true position.

Her isolated life seems to have little effect on her personality, which seems unrealistic, as well as the fact she is as isolated as you claim. I would imagine the family often appearing in public and responding to the citizens to strengthen their image - otherwise, what good are her lessons in etiquette?

Her family's status within Lumen is too similar to Euclid Leaf Euclid Leaf 's character Riyus - I thought at first they were a member of Riyus's family. Both come from prestigious military backgrounds, both families are somehow more proficient with light magic, both experienced something that changed their ambitions to conflict with their family's desires, and both received a priceless artifact as a result of their heritage. While vague similarities are unavoidable, and Lumen has a very high standard of living, there still needs to be some diversity present between the aristocratic families.

The sword she was given, Amaldeus, doesn't fit a Black Mage, who should wield a small object, like a dagger, jewelry, or a stone as their magic's conduit. It also bothers me that you describe the Elsolis as passing a certain expectation for generations, yet you exclude your own character from that requirement. It seems wholly uncharacteristic of the family. As the only heir to the sword, she should have more pressure put upon her to carry tradition. You also need to identify exactly what happened to her during the "hall incident" and what killed her parents - character forms shouldn't have secrets. The last detail bothers me as well - the military doesn't publicize their soldiers' records.

The "other" section of your application should also be affected by my expectations. You have 48 hours to resubmit your character with my directive.
