You've always been a bit different. Most of your peers engaged in pokemon battles since they were young; they excelled in the trainer academy. You, however, didn't. Your focus was never on winning (maybe only a little), it was always to be aesthetically pleasing to the eye, beautiful, coordinated. You combined attacks not only to win battles but to make a statement. And now, finally, you've found others like you.

The Rustboro Pokemon Contest will be an interesting one. There, you've come across something much more valuable than a contest ribbon: friends. You and five other trainers agree to travel across Hoenn with the same goal, to become Top Coordinators. To achieve this title, one must win five ribbons in order to enter the Hoenn Grand Festival. Winning the Grand Festival earns you the title of Top Coordinator and possession of the Ribbon Cup. However, only one trainer can win. Will it be you?


Essentially, these six trainers will travel across Hoenn and participate in 8 contests. Their goal is to gain five ribbons each, which raises the stakes, and gain entry to the Hoenn Grande Festival. There will be rivalry, drama, and romance. Please read the rules below. Don't come into my house, my roleplay and ignore the rules.

This will not be first-come-first-serve. This thread will be open until I find five forms I like. If you wish to know if your form is acceptable, please ask in the OOC Thread.
- Please post your form in a spoiler.
- The goal of each trainer is to have five ribbons so they may gain entrance to the Hoenn Grande Festival. I don't care how many ribbons your character has currently. They just need to have under five.
- Don't make your character a mary/gary sue with four ribbons and a perfect team. I'm not gonna accept that.
- I expect at least a paragraph for appearance, personality, and history.
- If you sign-up for this roleplay, you're committing to something that may last a while. I want this roleplay to be a long one.
- Romance+drama is encouraged !!! But sexytimes need to fade to black.
- I expect at least a paragraph per post in the main thread.
- There will not be levels/stats for pokemon. Battling/contests will follow the mechanics of the anime.

Spoiler: How It Works

The goal of a pokemon contest is for a coordinator to showcase how skilled their pokemon is. There are two rounds. The first is called The Performance Stage, where coordinators must use their pokemon's attacks to show off style and beauty. This will be reliant on the rper's creativity and writing. The coordinators with the highest points move onto the next round. The second round is called The Battle Stage and consists of trainers battling others. In these battles, each trainer has "points" so to say, where the goal is to decrease these points within the time limit of five minutes. A trainer can lose points by failing an attack, being hit by an attack, or when the opponent uses a particularly appealing/pretty move. These battles continue until there is only one winner.

Trainers in this roleplay will start at Rustboro City and travel to Slateport City, Fallarbor Town, Verdanturf Town, Rubello Town, Lilycove City, Purika City, and finally Pacifidlog Town. Unlike the anime, in this roleplay each town/city will have various rules/regulations for the contest (such as using two pokemon, for example).

As far as judging goes, I will either do that myself or discuss it in the OOC thread to see who deserves what score.

Personality: Nova is a kind if not rather reclusive girl. Afraid to disappoint her parents with her desire to do Pokemon contests rather than battling, Nova often sneaks out at night to train, which she also feels guilty about. Nova's very passive and submissive, often not finding the strength to stand on her own. She'd rather keep her head down than speak up and make her voice heard. She has a passion for making things look good, but will never try and advertise. She's the kind of person who would apologize for existing. She suffers from terrible stage fright, despite loving contests and wanting to participate in one.

History: Nova was born to two successful trainers - the Alolan champion and the Kahuna of the island she was born on. Her mother, the champion, had to almost resign to have her, and Nova feels deep regret for that, despite not being able to control that at all. All her life, she was brought up by her parents to be a successful trainer, but the more her parents taught her, the more she didn't like the sound of battling. Why would you use Pokemon moves to harm other Pokemon, she reasoned, when you can use those same moves to show off the appeal and skill of your Pokemon in a non-damaging way? Desperate to prove herself, she ventured into the tall grass one night to befriend the wild Pokemon, only to have two Rattata attack her out of nowhere. Thankfully, Harry showed up in time to save her. Her parents used the event to try and cement the idea of the necessity of battle into her mind, but Nova still resisted. She wanted to show them that Pokemon weren't for just the sport of battling. On her eighteenth birthday, she requested Pokemon to accompany her on her trainer journey in Hoenn, fully planning to not actually challenge gyms and instead participate in contests.

Brief History: Nina was a gift to Nova from her father on her eighteenth birthday. Nina is a bit of a perfectionist, and very prissy at that. She values aesthetics above all else, and has all but sworn to never get her paws dirty doing battle.

Brief History: Drake is perhaps the closest to Nova. Born of Nova's mother's Dragonite and Nova's father's Charizard, he's the first and only son of two accomplished battlers. He too shares a passion for contests and aesthetics, like Nova does, but is afraid of disappointing his parents. When Nova left on her journey, he all but begged their parents to let him go too.

Brief History: After catching Harry, Nova's mom took Nova to get a trainer license. Along with the license, Nova received Prim. Prim and Nova don't see eye to eye - Prim wants to battle, while Nova wants to do contests. Often Prim would go to Harry to spar, intent on setting out on her own, but Harry always convinced her otherwise every time.

Mia is very confident in who she is as a person. She might be a piece of shit, but she knows it and isn't afraid to say it. She's not caught up in trying to feel special, she's average and she's cool with it. Most of the time she just wants to hangout and enjoy her time. She's blunt and brash and embraces the world for everything it is. When she performs she likes to show the world exactly who her Pokemon are. She doesn't just throw around some glitter and twirl, she likes to tell a story through music and dance.

Mia was born on the island city of Mossdeep and raised by her researcher mother. But unlike her mother, instead of looking to the stars she looked to the ground. She took after her father and loved botany from a young age. As a preteen, she moved to live with him in Sinnoh so that she might be able to study her interest better. In Floaroma she finished out high school and began an apprenticeship under a renown Biologist who focused on botany and grass types. It was he who advised her to travel the different regions, but she quickly decided that being a trainer wasn't for her. It was crude, violent, and traumatic. Instead she decided to be a Pokemon Coordinator.

Her first ever pokemon, Ziggy was given to her by her mother that way she could stay in contact via mail. He is a bumbling little bird, but is always willing to help water the garden.

Shoes is thus named because that is where she always finds him. In fact, the very first time they met was on the boat as she left her island home. He had been living in the dark musky corners of her room and when she left a pair of boots in the shadowed corner he made himself right at home. He's a quirky little shroom with an oddly high amount of charm.

Mia met Pipa a year after moving into Floraroma Town when she was sketching flowers in the meadow. She was shy at first but they ended up bonding over a jar of honey that Mia had been munching on. Soon Mia started bringing Pipa her own little spoon to eat off of, and a few weeks later she just started taking her home. She loves to show off her dancing and works the hardest for contest.

Bijou quite literally blew into Mia's life. Her window more accurately, leaving a mess of cotton tufts in her wake. This threw her off of migration and so she stayed with Mia until the next year, but when the Whimsicott's blew by again, Bijou stayed. She's messy and erratic but always enthusiastic.

Atticus was a bit more intentional than the others. Mia's father actually raised him from a deerling and gave him to her as a graduation surprise. Atticus is a stoic sentinel of a Pokemon who is a loyal sentinel to Mia.

The most recent to the team, Mia's professor actually rescued Cyndaquil from a young trainer clearly not up to the task of being a responsible Pokemon handler. Before she left, Mia took Ollie in. Appearance

With flawless, creamy skin, a heart shaped face, and thin, supple form, Asahi can be considered a picture of serenity. With shoulder length curly/wavy fiery red hair and bright blue eyes framed by thick black lashes, the seventeen year old can definitely leave an impression. High cheekbones and a dainty nose and petite lips, completed by a lithe frame, it's obvious that Asahi is not of the heavy lifting type with her five foot six stature.

Preferring a more girlish yet comfortable style, Asahi tends to wear a cream colored loose-fitting long-sleeved dress that easily sways in the wind. Over the top of the dress and ending just below her waist, she wears a dark reddish-pink colored jacket-like shirt that ties in the front with a pale pink cloth. Sensible shoes and a belt are a must because of any and all traveling, along with a teal blue colored medium sized messenger bag to hold any extra items.

When competing in competitions, however, Asahi goes all out, wearing dainty black slippers under an ankle length, long-sleeved orange, red, and cream kimono with flowers and butterflies as the design. A teal blue cloth hidden under orange and red colored fabric is tied in a small bow at the front while the rest of the kimono ties together in the back. Finished off with her tan colored dangling earrings which she never takes off, Asahi is always ready to compete.​

Personality
With a seemingly cute, quiet, and shy outward demeanor, Asahi couldn't be anything but, once you get to know her. Upon meeting her, the young redhead can be a bit unsure of herself, acting slightly clumsy and tripping over her own feet when embarrassed - which happens very easily. It's not that she doesn't dislike meeting new people, it's just that she has to know what type of person she's beginning to know. After she's calmed down a bit, she's a huge bundle of energy.

Once friends with someone it's like she can't stop. Bouncing around, energetic and bubbly, always wanting to keep people happy, having found that a smile can almost always make anything better. If she can she enjoys making people laugh and smile, which leads them to having a good time. It's why she became a Coordinator, wanting to create beauty in the simplest of places so people can admire it and smile.

A bit naïve in her desires, Asahi recognizes that she's most definitely a kid at heart, one who wears their heart on their sleeve, and that can get her into trouble, but she doesn't mind. Rather than be cold and serious about everything, she'd rather try to look at life in a positive way.
History
Asahi and her family are originally from Hoenn, formerly residing in Lilycove City. Her parents, Souta and Diana Reynolds, were big time battlers, having met in the middle of their hunt for gym badges and reuniting after both had lost in the Elite Four. After the two met again, they soon fell in love and settled down in Diana's hometown of Lilycove City, where they lived for ten years, teaching the nearby children about battling and how to care for their Pokemon. They lived happily this way until roughly two years after Asahi was born. The two adults were passionate for battles and loved the fiery competition of seeing who had trained the hardest and who would come out on top.
Battling each other wasn't enough anymore, so they packed up and set sail for the Kalos region and moved into a small home on the outskirts of Lumiose City.

Having only been two when making the journey to the big city in the center of Kalos, Asahi doesn't really remember her home in Hoenn, so growing up, she didn't really miss the region. However, she did miss her parents. Being the only daughter of two battle enthusiasts, the young girl often found herself with only one parent at a time, seeing as the two took turns going on month long journeys to collect more gym badges.

By the time Asahi was 12, both her parents were ready to challenge the Elite Four of the region and the family packed up and headed for the Pokemon League, dragging their red-headed daughter with them to stand alone in the stands, cheering them on. Needless to say, the twelve year old wasn't thrilled at the thought of being alone throughout the day and stuck listening to her parents discuss strategy with their team and each other at night.
So when on the second day of the competition, she stumbled into Professor Sycamore, she was in for quite a shock.
The man was pretty surprised to find that she was alone while her parents competed, so he took her under his wing and brought her with him wherever he went during the day and brought her back to her parents once the day was over and explained to them that he'd look out for her when they couldn't. Asahi was relieved when they didn't have any concerns about the Professor watching her. She was tired of being alone, and seeing as she didn't have a Pokemon of her own, she loved playing with the ones he had with him.

It was the third day of her parents challenge and Asahi was looking for Professor Sycamore when she turned a corner and crashed right into him, falling onto the floor. He quickly helped her up when she spotted an extremely small Fennekin peak out from behind his legs, and that was that. Asahi was in love with the cute and tiny creature who seemed to like her back and begged the professor to let her keep the tiny fox. He was slightly hesitant but agreed to talk to her parents at the end of the day. Pleased, Asahi and the tiny Fennekin spent the entire day together, never leaving the other alone for more than a few minutes at a time. They had already become inseparable and once her parents heard the news, they were overjoyed. Their daughter had found a Pokemon partner! Someone to battle with and take on gyms and eventually the Elite Four!

Upon seeing the Pokemon their daughter had chosen, Diana and Souta were shocked and a little unsure. The fox in front of them was a runt. They had no idea how their daughter thought she could take on anyone with such a small and weak partner, but due to Asahi's sad begging face, they agreed to let her keep the Pokemon. Both Asahi and her new partner were overjoyed.

It was on the fourth day that her parents lost against the final member of the Elite Four. They reluctantly packed their bags and headed back for Lumiose City with Professor Sycamore who had taken a liking to Asahi and enjoyed the sight of her playing with Karui, her partner. Once the Professor had left the family at their home, Diana and Souta soon became restless and decided to move, dragging Asahi with them. They'd heard of Kiloude City where a place called the Battle Maison was located and they were consumed with the desire to participate. So they moved and have been living there ever since.

Asahi, however, stayed with her parents for another four years before taking off on her own, tired of trying to be interested in battling like her parents were. Her parents were respected trainers and many couldn't believe that Asahi and her runt of a starter weren't interested in following in their footsteps. Sure, the red-head enjoyed winning,
but not the same way her parents did. She'd known this for a while now, having come to the conclusion that she didn't particular care for regular battles soon after she'd received Karui.

It wasn't until Asahi was 16 and she saw a clip of an old contest from Hoenn that she realized she wanted to go explore the world and find her own path, not the one her parents presented to her. So she packed her bags that night and when her parents came home later on, she told them of her plan and was surprised when they reluctantly agreed. The two weren't cruel, they could tell that their daughter didn't have the same interests as them, however much it broke their heart, so they allowed her to travel to Hoenn and to their hometown of Lilycove City. She left right away, unable to keep her excitement contained.

Upon arriving in Lilycove, Asahi quickly found shelter at the resident Pokemon center and began to plan out her journey when she saw another commercial for a contest and immediately fell in love and decided to give it a try.
This journey was about finding herself right? So why not try something new!

So after a year of being in Hoenn, Asahi has successfully participated in and won two Contest Ribbons and has made it to Rustboro City.​

They quickly started traveling with Asahi.

The youngest member of Asahi's team, the two met right outside of Mauville City, Asahi having just witnessed the Vulpix get tossed away like garbage by her previous trainer due to her being weak despite being so young. Asahi was extremely upset and immediately grabbed the Vulpix and began to take care of her, leading the Vulpix, soon known as Rei, to become attached to Asahi like glue, much like Karui was.​

Appearance:

A tall & thin but athletic gentleman Zyrus wears in most cases simple clothing, but warm. A light Tee underneath his hunter green coat with a white fur lined collar for those cold nights when his neck might get chill. A pair of skinny jeans in denim blue, black hiking boots and a tight necklace with a orange stone pendant that was a gift from his friend years ago.

Physically he's a slim figured guy but quite athletic and fit, light toned skin with light brown hair that's often a styled mess with a bit of spikes here and there. Light gem colored eyes and a kind but small smile to feature upon his face. While his overall state of appearance and health is clean and well looked after, taking personal health quite seriously while his physique is toned from much travel and hiking.
Personality:
Zyrus is rather caring and free spirited with just enough discipline to match but not overpower. Due to a poor history with his family, he's often alone in recent years with few else except his Pokémon accompanying him, but despite it he's friendly and warm with enough social well being to keep him sharp.

Furthermore he's a ambitious but humble young man. He's intending to become a top coordinator and trainer, overcome his natural thought for combos and appearance, skill and timing so that he may balance it out with a style necessary for trainers. Adding in more thought into winning and using strength to power your chances for victory over another in battle, not just relying on tactics that are often more timed and contest oriented then Gym battle focused. To that earlier mention, he's humble often willing to share his downfalls as well as modestly mention what successes he has and over his time as a Pokémon coordinator and hopeful trainer.

During more romantic endeavors well...... Zyrus often blushes and turns silently shy. Unable to admit he's attracted to another without obvious warmth and redness of cheek to reveal it and embarrassing moments to potentially accompany such feelings. So he's not too experienced in romance and relationships.

History:
Born Zyrus F. Middleton III of Vertress City. He was to live amongst the rich and mighty, respected and historically enriched family of Middleton, a line that dated back ages now and were filled with Pokémon trainers each with water, grass and fire type Pokémon being the types selected by each trainer and generation to the point it was tradition. But such traditions don't last nor stick with all, Zyrus though he loved all types of Pokémon and truly would have adored a Pansear or a Pansage or a Panpour for his first Pokémon. As he always loved the monkey trio and heavily considered them as his starter, even to this day he's been on the lookout for one of each to add to his party even though they were not normal type Pokémon like the rest of team and style of trainer he wished to become a master of.

However he didn't select any of the three, actually none were available at the time but even still Zyrus knew deep down he wanted a normal type Pokémon. It was his original dream to become the greatest normal type trainer and coordinator in the world, thus after speaking with Professor Juniper and having her support, Zyrus went against his families wishes and tradition by going outside the three types approved by the Middleton family with the selection of the Normal type Pokémon.. Slakoth. Oh the boy adored the young Slakoth, he was sleepy and lazy appearing but was a instant match. Even as they might differ or oppose each other in the future, Zyrus knew right away who he'd select. Who the right choice for him was, Slakoth.

Juniper was happy for the new pair of trainer and Pokémon. But unfortunately not all would be happy for them, Zyrus went home and faced the music as it were, boldly stood before his family and told them of his choice, introduced his Slakoth who humorously did not help the situation any with his sleepy and laid back appearance as it lay upon the ground half asleep with a paw scratching its head. Zyrus nearly face planted right there... But re composed himself for the sake of necessity and trying to appeal to his family. But they instead and expectedly so went mad, a anger that only increased when Zyrus stated he was no good at battles and wanted to try contests! No.... That reveal only further infuriated them. Soon he was forced to choose his family and a proper Pokémon or life without one and his Slakoth.... It wasn't easy but Zyrus chose his Slakoth over his family. Atleast his Pokémon might accept him for who he was and not expect him to tow the line.

Pretty soon he left home and traveled all over Unova, feeling glad he didn't tell them he liked girls as well as boys or else who knew what would happen. The experience was bad enough without adding to it. After time went on, Zyrus found he kinda liked it outdoors and seeing all there was to see despite having no money and little shelter to afford him a easier time.

Luckily he ran into Professor Juniper a time or two throughout his journey in Unova, she learned of his experience amd leaving home, feeling sad for him but proud of his strength and love for his Pokémon that'd he'd choose to keep his Slakoth despite what it could cost him. She helped him out greatly and as often as She could, it was her encounter with wild Lilipup that led to Zyrus catching his first Pokémon and her advice that has stuck with him ever since their meetings and experiences with one another.

She pushed and encouraged him to be who he was and stay true to himself. While working hard and caring for his Pokémon well continue to care for them like he did. Eventually he tried his luck with both contests and gyms throughout Unova and though he failed each time out, he was encouraged and praised by others even gym leaders he met and tried to face, he was improving and so were his Pokémon.

Before leaving Unova to travel abroad and see the world outside of his home region. Zyrus caught a Rufflet. He then went on toward Kalos where he traveled for a little awhile and caught his sleeping & at the time bridge obstructing Snorlax and then went onto catch a Bunnelby before leaving for Hoenn.

Where since he has grown even closer with his Pokémon, experienced more trials and adventures, hardships and seeing his Pokémon overcome them along with himself while his Vigorath evolved into Slaking. His Herdier evolved into Stoutland. Plus his Snorlax, Rufflet and Bunnelby grew stronger.

Yes.... Despite the harsh and struggle filled times Zyrus and his team survived and grew together, eventually they found their greatest success to date by winning a contest ribbon in Pacifidlog town thanks to his Stoutland and the stone badge in Rustboro city by defeating Roxanne with each member of his team participating, and his Slaking ended up being the champion of his team in that encounter despite some lazy tendencies and needing of much coaching and support from Zyrus to finish the battle at his best ability and ease up with the slacking, truant ways.

But even with some improvement as a trainer and looking to capatilize on his victory at the contest in Pacifidlog town which earned him a ribbon and his first at that. Zyrus remains humble and modest, knowing he still has much further to go before reaching any of his goals...... And yet even after all these years his eyes are always on the lookout for a Pansear, Pansage & Panpour.

He strives to become a top coordinator and for his own sake a champion trainer as well. A balanced lad of Pokémon and a master of normal type Pokémon.

Personality:
Shaye is a generally warm and kind person. It doesn't matter to her a Pokemon's type. She'd gladly welcome them onto her team. She can be very quiet at times, usually when she's reading a book or writing in her journal. She tries to keep an open mind and help anyone in need she comes across. She'll give anyone a chance, no matter what. She's also easy going and passionate about her interests. She's been told that her eyes seem to light up when it comes to talking about her interests. When it comes to contests, she typically has some sort of strategy but usually ends up relying on the bonds she and her Pokemon share. It might take her a bit to relax, but she can cut lose and have pure fun sometimes. Certain situations tend to make her anxious and nervous. It also takes her a bit to realize anyone is flirting with her.

History:
Shaye was the third child of a Pokemon breeder mother and a battle loving father. Her sister took an interest in battles while her brother took an interest in breeding. Growing up in Petalburg City, she led a fairly normal, happy life. When she was old enough, she was enrolled in the Rustboro Pokemon Trainer's School. While she did enjoy learning new things, she was put off by battling. She didn't understand why anyone would want Pokemon to fight for such silly reasons. But she never voiced her opinion out loud. She simply did her best in school until graduation. After all, it made her family proud of her. It was through travelling home from school that she met and eventually met Della the Skitty.

Her brother and sister announced they were going on a journey when she was 10. Before they left, they gave her the Shuppet she would eventually call Midnight. After a while, her parents encouraged her to go on a journey. So, at age 13, she set out with Midnight and Della. While she was able to battle and catch 2 pokemon, she was only to get two badges, the Dynamo Badge and the Mind badge. She did appreciate the advice the gym leaders offered her after every defeat. Battling still didn't seem to click with her. So she continued to travel, bonding with the newer additions Morgana the Ralts and Aqua the Marill along the way

When she returned home at age 16, only two of her pokemon had evolved: Morgana and Della. Her parents still welcomed her home with open arms and bombarded her with questions about her journey. While visiting relatives in Verdanturf Town, she discovered contests. Suddenly, things started to make sense to her. For a years, she did what she could to learn more about contests. After, she revealed her interests in contests to her parents. Although they were a little disappointed she hadn't taken interest in breeding or battling, they were more than willing to support her. A few days after her 18th birthday, she entered her first contest. Somehow, she managed to pull off a win with Della by her side. She couldn't have been more excited and her parents couldn't have been more proud. She decided right there and then to go on another journey, this time aiming for contests instead of gyms.

"Think nobody's got your back? Turn around, and you'll see somebody who's looking out for you."

Koyuki is an empathetic person, he understands other peoples' pain and will try to make everyone around him feel needed, wanted, and welcome. Figuratively, Koyuki never closes his arms, they're always open for anyone to come in and exchange a hug. His empathy extends to groups of people as well, he can simultaneously simulate their emotions in his own mind. Combined with his charisma and near constant cheerfulness, it's no wonder that Koyuki is popular with his audience.

"My mind is set, I've made my choice. Now's too late to turn back, so I'm going to continue moving forward."

Another one of Koyuki's visible traits is his DETERMINATION. But, this could also be called desperation. When he feels strongly about something, he will do almost anything to achieve it. Because of this, he yearns to be a top coordinator. Without determination, he'd be just another normal trainer on their journey to become the champion. It is his most powerful trait and emotion that shows up at nearly every moment in his life, whether it be contests, or baking a cake. However, it can be unhealthy when the competition is rigged because it's like clinging on to hope that isn't really there. But when his determination pulls through, and he wins a contest, he'll start crying out of joy and shout cheerfully.

"You can try to put out my spirit all you want, but doing that will only make my fire grow ten times bigger."

Determination and persistence form a synergy in his personality. You can be all determination, but give up on your dream when things get rough, or you can be all persistence and keep trying, but never achieve it. Or, you can be Koyuki, constantly working for one childhood dream to become a reality. He is willing to subject himself to intense physical and emotional pain to become the top coordinator, even though he already has, he is willing to put up with even more than his body can handle. Waxing, being beat countless times or working on a dance move until his feet scream for him to stop, at the end of the day, it's still not enough. Even if his mother resents him for wanting to be a coordinator, even if people tell him that he can't win, even if it kills him, he will still follow that foolish desire.

"Remember when you told me that you were allergic to peanuts? I didn't forget that, so I made an extra batch of muffins just for you, minus the nuts."

Yuuki Shima is very thoughtful, and remembers most things about the people he meets. If they over told him their birthday, he will remember and give them a surprise gift on the day of their birthday. He overextends himself to try to please and satisfy everybody. He does this so much that he ignores his own feelings because he lives for the purpose of others.

"God damn it... Why is it always somebody else that has everything?"

But behind all the smiles, cute outfits, and childlike determination is a very jealous and envious boy. When he sees a pretty girl, he is envious of them, when he sees someone who is better than him, he is jealous. Over time, envy grows into jealousy, jealousy grows into hate. Yuuki Shima is very odd, he is jealous of his own friends, hating them, yet he still hangs out with them, and cares for them. He hates his own jealousy, but he can't help but to be jealous of others who have it better than him. All his hard work feels like nothing compared to someone else who got it because they were born a girl and happened to look pretty.

"Ever tell your own self to shut up? I have."

With all the jealousy, hate, and effort to please others, he doesn't have time to attend to his own emotions. This leaves him angry, sad, depressive, murderous, you name it. However, Koyuki practices "self control" which is actually him suppressing his emotions. So the Koyuki that you know will never be angry, will never yell at you or judge you, he keeps that all to himself inside a tiny glass heart. And that heart will one day burst, and everything kept in there will come out as well, explosive anger, desire to KILL, depression, all sorts of no good. Koyuki forcing these feelings silent is for his own good, because if he didn't, that entire audience waiting for him wouldn't be there. It'd just be an empty room of just himself watching his own performance.

"I've put on so many masks now that I forgot what my real face looks like."

You can say that you know who Koyuki is, but you can't say you know who Yuuki Shima is. His stage name Koyuki is one of the many personas Yuuki Shima wears, cheerful, happy, charismatic, he can bend his "personality" any way he wants. Even though he has many friends and people who care about him, who have his back, none of it is real. Nothing is genuine, Yuuki desperately wants someone to see through his mask and be his friend, not Koyuki's. Yet, oddly, he doesn't want anyone to see the real him for fear that they will see Yuuki as a loser and a coward.

I could write some more about him, but I think this will suffice.

Backstory:

Yuuki Shima's school life wasn't the best. His pink hair was made fun of, (they called him a fairy type Pokemon because of it) most people found him boring, and his Pokemon were ridiculously weak. He thought the Eevee his father gave him was the most powerful Pokemon in school, but that arrogance was soon proved to be wrong. The other kids had powerful Pokemon already, like Breloom, Skarmory, and Metagross. Against all those Pokemon, he and Eevee were no match. It was like a child picking a fight with an adult. Growing up, Yuuki was constantly told that his Eevee was weak, and his bullies even went so far as to insult his own strenth.

"You're weak, in other words, Yuuki. You're worthless."

Continued harassment led Yuuki to grow more and more resentful of himself instead of the people who were hurting him. School was hell for him, the teachers only taught about the power of Pokemon instead of the friendships it took to get that power.

But, his home life was much better. His father was a house husband, he did the cooking, care for him, even tuck him in at night. Yuuki would always come home and his father would notice the slight sadness on his face and ask him what was wrong. All the time, Yuuki would push his dad away and deal with the pain himself. Eventually, his father couldn't see sadness in his face anymore and thought he grew tougher, like steel. But he was wrong, Yuuki lived his personal life In the bedroom, writing diaries of self reflection, painting, all the silly things kids do.

Not everything was gloom, he found happiness in Pokemon. He resented people, even hated them, so that's why he found solace in his Eevee. In the future years, his Eevee evolved into Sylveon and he eventually gave it a nickname.

"Now that you're pink, I think I'll call you Rose! But, you're a guy, and it's kinda weird. How about Kyle? No, well... Ehh... How about Sylveon! Hah, just kidding. Okay, how about Emil?"

Since that day passed, he and Emil grew more powerful as their friendship grew very fast. Emil was the only thing he was able to call his best friend, for humans were just too difficult. The years passed quickly, and soon he went off on his journey to become a Pokemon Trainer. He couldn't have made it through the whole ordeal without Fawkes, his Mimikyu.

He met him on a school day, Yuuki heard of the others kids saying that there was a really ugly Pikachu somewhere, so he looked around the school to find it. He pinpointed its location after he heard shouting.

"This isn't a Pikachu you idiot! It's just some dumb doll."

A bunch of kids were walking away, after they were gone, Yuuki went over to the doll and picked it up. It was just a piece of cloth, raggedy, and very dusty. He held it in his hands longer than he should have, staring at all its features; the wrinkles of the fabric and the amount of dust on the thing. He saw something different about it than just an ugly piece of cloth. If he looked at it a little harder, the doll was just like him, just something that someone said was a pretty object, but when they looked at him with their own eyes, they walked away. Then he spoke to the cloth.

"You know, you're a bit like me."

Yuuki said to the cloth. He put it down, then stood up. But before he was able to turn around, another piece of cloth appeared from the corner, that's when he realized that it wasn't just fabric, but a real Pokemon. The Mimikyu stared into Yuuki's eyes, then moved a little closer to him. Within their exchanged gazes, both of them could feel a sense of yearning, and a striking similarity that they shared. But the connection didn't last very long, Mimikyu turned its head around and disappeared into the shadows. They didn't meet again until a week later, and after that week they met up daily. Yuuki would talk to Mimikyu about his problems, and Mimikyu would listen to them and think of how similar the human was to himself.

Eventually through those meetings, Mimikyu allowed Yuuki to catch him.

At the tender age of 10 with his two Pokemon, Emil and Fawkes, Yuuki Shima set out on his journey. But soon after departing, he realized that battling wasn't what he wanted to do, he couldn't bear to see Emil or Fawkes get hurt so coordinating became his profession. He started off small, and ended very terribly. His clothes were always dirty due to traveling on the road, and he didn't have cute clothes to change into when he went into a contest hall.

He faced defeat, again and again, and to the least skilled of opponents too, such as a
bug catcher boy with a Caterpie. Just how was that possible?

So he went home hoping that his parents could help him. His father welcomed him back home with open arms as well as his mother, but when he told them why he came home, and what he wanted from them, his mother's face changed.

"You want a pair of knee socks, tweasers, waxed legs, no mustache, a pink apron, hair ribbons, and... Well why are you coordinating instead of battling? You know what, if you want to be a coordinator then ask for a suit instead. Don't cheat because you look more like me than your father."

Those words were painful to hear. His mother was a person who always had his back, but not this time. It was as if she was a completely different person. But it wasn't the words that hurt him the most, it was the feeling of his parent rejecting something that he loved. On that day, he didn't get anything that he asked for, his mother just handed him one of his father's old suits instead.

Yuuki stayed for the day, he watched his mother leave and go to work while his dad stayed home to tend to the house. He was about to leave, but right as he was about to walk out the door his father put a hand on his shoulder.

"Yuuki, don't listen to a word she says. If you want this, then you want it, and nobody can tell you otherwise. You understand?"

Yuuki almost cried. His father gave him all the clothing he needed to win the cute contest.

"Oh, and if you really want to win, grow out your hair. There's one thing right about what your mother said, you do look more like her than me, so use that to your advantage. And if you want waxed legs, no mustache, and almost no body hair, you need to gain that through hours of pain. Good luck, and just know that when you're feeling sad, I'll be cheering on for you. Because now... I'm your number one fan!"

And with a final wave of goodbye, Yuuki left home once more, and now he was really on his Pokemon journey.

Appearance♡

Cassidy stands at 5'7" and weighs roughly 110 pounds. Her most noticeable attribute is her bright red hair that rests on top of her head. Her hair is naturally straight and reaches her lower back. She has a naturally oily scalp, meaning without a daily or every-other-day shower her hair will become greasy and gross looking. Despite this, on it's better days, her hair appears luscious and sits over her shoulders. Grown out bangs fall over her face. Her hair can commonly be seen worn down, in a high ponytail, or some sort of braid. For contests she'll curl it or wear it in a bun.

Cassidy has a heart-shaped face with bright pink eyes and rosy cheeks. She has a petite nose that occasionally features faint freckles in the summer. Her mouth is usually held in some form of smile-- a wild grin, proud smug, a bright beam. On the average day the girl can be seen wearing a simple blouse paired with a light jacket and jeans. Every once and a while she'll wear skirts and dresses. For contest she can be seen sporting a colorful dress paired with heels.

Personality♡

Cassidy is a friendly and carefree soul; she's the wind playfully tugging at your air, the dew covering the grass in the morning, and the feeling of catching a new pokemon. It's easy for her to make friends any many people tend to feel comfortable around her. She has a charming way of putting others at ease. In most situations, she's easygoing, relaxed, and optimistic. The girl tends to have a positive outlook on things and can be overly cheerful. Furthermore, Cassidy loves people and loves helping them; she'll often times be giving encouragement or advice, or simply listening to someone's problems sympathetically. She's loving, concerned for others, and airy.

However, the girl is also stubborn. She doesn't like losing or admitting defeat. Whether that be battles, arguments, or fights, she won't quit until it's too late. This has led to her overworking her pokemon and harming her relationships with others. Additionally, she persists in always having her way and this can be problematic.

Another flaw of Cassidy's is her anxiety. New situations can be difficult for her to process and she doesn't like leaving her comfort zone. Often times, she prefers running away rather than addressing the problem at hand.

Cassidy was born in Fortree City, Hoenn, to a father who worked as a trainer at the local gym and a mother who helped out at the pokemart. Her childhood consisted of running barefoot through overgrown grass, climbing trees, and making secret hideouts and bases. The girl's first pokemon was a Mareep her father had caught at Altering Cave. He figured it's fluffy and cute appearance would appeal to his daughter and caught it for her. She named her new friend Charlie. At age eleven, Cassidy had created a habit of fishing at the nearby route--route 119. She didn't particularly enjoy it, but fishing was better than sitting around and doing nothing. So the young girl would grab her father's old rod and attempt to catch pokemon. One day, she caught a Feebas, which would become her second pokemon. Cassidy decided to keep it and named the water-type Phoebe.

When Cassidy got older, a local at Fortree City, named Aarune, had a batch of Flygon eggs. Cassidy asked if she could have one and received an egg that held a Trapinch. She cared for the egg until it hatched.

The girl started her pokemon journey at age fourteen. She obtained three badges within two years: the Feather Badge, Dynamo Badge, and Stone badge. After travelling to places such as Lilycove and Verdanturf she held a growing interest in contests. The girl tried her hand in one and found it much more enjoyable than collecting gym-badges. Know she's on a quest to become a Top Coordinator and win the Grande Festival.

Appearance♡

Emmett is rather short for his age-- the male only stands at 5'6". Despite this, his presence is mysterious, energetic, and powerful. Emmett's like the shadows slipping through an alleyway, the color of the sun sinking behind the trees, and the feeling of curiosity and awe at seeing a new pokemon. His appearance attracts curious and interested eyes. Light purple hair rests on top of the boy's head. His hair is long due for a cut; it reaches past his chin and curls around his face. Typically his hair is simply brushed and worn the way it is. The purple strands tend to fall over his forehead and occasionally cover his magenta eyes. On the average day he can be seen wearing a simple T-shirt paired with jeans and vans. For colder weather he'll throw on a light jacket. For special occasions and contests Emmett will sport a vest paired with dress-pants.

Personality♡

Emmett is a quiet and withdrawn soul. He's the hushed city after dark, the sound of rain pittering on a sidewalk, and the smell of a new book. He speaks in a soft voice and prefers listening and watching others than talking or getting involved. Despite this, he has a powerful presence. Emmett doesn't blend into the background. In contests he appears to be a completely different person; he's loud, commanding, and piercing. His quiet demeanor slips away and he proudly shows off his skills.

The male rarely initiates friendships-- he doesn't mind being alone. However, he enjoys learning about new people and takes interest in the other trainers his age. To the friends he does have, Emmett helps and supports. Often times, he'll pry and ask questions to the point of annoyance of others. This way, he's able to listen more than talk in conversation. However, this habit makes it hard for the boy to open up to friends. He doesn't like sharing his personal struggles which can lead to negative consequences that harm him and his relationships.

History♡

Emmett was born in Saffron City, Kanto to a mother who helped out at the pokemon center and a father who worked at Silph Co. His childhood consisted of playing tag in the streets, exploring route five, and peering through the windows to the Fighting Dojo. At a young age the boy developed a strong interest in pokemon. He wasn't afraid of them like others his age, but rather preferred to play with tame pokemon and befriend the wild ones. At around age twelve Emmett befriended a Ghastly that had been roaming the streets of the city. He fed the pokemon berries everyday until it came to trust him. This Ghastly, nicknamed Sprite, would become the boy's first pokemon.

Emmett began his journey with Sprite at age fourteen. He managed to collect three badges (the Rainbow Badge, Marsh Badge, and Soul Badge) before receiving an alarming call from his parents: they'd be moving to Hoenn because of a sick relative. He was fifteen years old when he moved to Slateport City, Hoenn. There, he continued his journey collecting gym badges. He eventually came in possession of the Dynamo Badge and Feather Badge. However, coming to Hoenn exposed him to pokemon contests. While Kanto did have a handful of them, contests ran rampant in Hoenn. Wanting to try something new, the boy decided to try a hand at a pokemon contest and has loved it ever since.
