Plot: The story is about a large island where only men and boys live. There are some figures on the island who appear female but are ultimately men or eunuchs who have taken on a feminine role on the island. The island is known as Drengurseyja (icelandic for boy island). There are a number of rules on the island of which breaking them can be punished severely. The main ones are that there cannot be any physical interaction with someone of the opposite sex on the entire island and visitors to the island need special invitations. Outside men who want to live on the island need to be role model citizens of the empire. You live on the island, maybe attend school here or work a job while looking for a partner.
Hundreds of years ago, the empire created the laws that made Drengurseyja what it is today. Drengurseyja is an island where only men live. They send their seed to a similar island where only women live and if children that are birthed on that island are boys, they are sent to Drengurseyja. On the island, where the men reside, woman can only visit if they have an official invitation and the invitation was permitted by the island council. Visitors without an official invitation are likely to be put to death.
Era/technology: The island is in a modern low fantasy setting. Magic exists, but so do cars, trains and many modern technologies. There is no global internet, at least not on the island. The island has it's own infranet, that isn't linked to that of the rest of the empire. "Adult materials" featuring women count as contraband. Women are only seen on the infranet in educational materials or are portrayed by male actors or eunuchs in media.
Magic: People who are actually proficient in magic have become rare. However many still can use basic elemental magics for daily needs like lighting a fire or fetching water from a well.
Eunuchs: The eunuchs are a special class among the citizens of the island. Usually the eunuchs present as feminine and take on the roles of entertainers, clerics or executioners or punitive enforcement.
Punishment: Usually, intimate relationships with a member of the opposite sex will result in death by decapitation. The second most severe punishment is banishment from the island. Lesser crimes however are punished usually from community service to flogging. There is however no prison. The only holding cells are for those who are to be executed or banished.
Drengurseyja: A large island with a population of around 410,000. The largest town having a population of 45,000. The more coastal areas are green and flat while the center of the island has a small mountain range. Each village or town above a population of 500 has a temple. Sometimes if an area has a couple of villages with less than 500 people, they will have a temple for those villages combined. The island has modern infrastructure. Each house has power, running water/sewage and access to island communications. Most towns with more than 2000 inhabitants have a railway station. And there are around 200 schools on the island. Transportation to and from the island is strictly controlled. Only possibilities to get to and from the island are by boat as the island doesn't have an airport.
There are various ways the roleplay can go. Generally, the focus will be more romance (within what is allowed on the site, so nothing sexual), but it can also go to school roleplay or slice of life all the way to how things are not what they seem on the island and can be horror or so (like running from a stalker or an executioner). I am open for input.
