The Shape-shifting Master of Goatees and Darkness
The Illustrious
Oh what a gift it was! Newnan, Georgia, the relatively small town 40 minutes south of Atlanta, was unusually busy. Roads became blocked, traffic so bad it seemed like it belonged further North up 85. It was a confusing site for the locals...unless you looked a little closer.
With a little closer inspection you could see the young faces fresh out of high school. Puppies who were still wet behind the ears. Oh, joy it was the annual holiday of Freshman Move-In at Dubois. This meant an influx of college kids from all over the country, and a tonne from a few miles up the interstate. Those who hadn't chose Dubois, probably chose one of the schools in the AUC. No matter, it was a family regardless.
Near the dorms stood a bunch of upperclassmen, including one particular. Wearing a white dress and black heels, stood a woman in the middle of the courtyard in front of the freshman dorms. Next to her a table, with a few others sitting, t-shirts and lanyards on top of the tables. There was also a sign-in sheet. A few speakers were set up around them, and in the girl's hand was a microphone.
The girl herself was extremely gorgeous. Straight jet black hair, reaching below her bust, body slim and curvy, smile white and big. Eyes that could capture your spirit, she seemed to hold the whole package. She took in a deep breath and began to speak,"Welcome Class of 2021 to the campus hidden in the forest! Dubois University. We are glad to see you making your and moving in. Just tell the move-in helpers your name and dorm number, and they'll help you get your stuff there. When you're done, make sure to come sign-in so we can get your a schedule of events, a t-shirt and a lanyard. Once you've signed in, I suggest you staying in your dorms and getting set up because at 5, we're all headed our separate ways. We have a lot of events planned for the week, and I promise you this won't be the last you see of your parents...."
That's how the first day would go. The first night saw the students (separated into male and females) learning the long history of the school. The second day, was the presenting of the Dubois torch. Alumni would pass on the symbolic torches (candles) to the students, and if you were legacy, whoever had graduated here would pass you your's. Then the third day came, that Friday. The parent send-off. A large presentation into showing your parents that this was your journey into adulthood, and that you were no longer children....
That brought us to Saturday. The day the men and women would be mixed back together. The day every little thirst bucket and socialite was salivating for. The brother-sister exchange and Olive Branch.
The brother-sister exchange was borrowed from Morehouse and Spelman. Dubois had always had their freshman dorms split up and had strict visitation rules (they wanted you to not be distracted as freshmen) but the brother sister exchange? They saw how well it worked for them, and noted the freshman were setup for it and went with it. The boys would wear their black suits, the upperclassmen helping getting their appearance together. The girls would wear their white dresses, and the upperclasmen would help them get their make up and fittings in order.
It was an extravagant event, but not everyone was happy with their sibling. "She ugly." Ugh, he's a nerd." "He's so lame..."
Now Olive Branch was the real draw. It was started by the AUC, they would give all their new students basically a party in the gym, and let them all mingle and meet after being separated all week. This party include games, a concert, and a DJ. This was the chance to go grab college bae...well freshman Bae. Let your inner thot out baby girl.
Dubois took this idea, and now there are three olive branches. The third is a mixture of Dubois and the AUC, but occurs the Saturday after classes start....
So tonight? At this moment? Was Dubois's Olive Branch and right now...that gym was poppin'. Local DJ, and CAU Alum DJ Drama was the guest DJ. The concert had the line up of 6lack, August Alsina, and Young Dolph along with a few smaller acts.
Looks like our freshmen were in for a good night...right?
