Realistic or Modern The Illustrious! Reboot (Open University RP)

She underestimated how many people she thought would be at the fair. The heat and dense crowd made her thankful that she cut her shirt and tied it at the waist.

She hardly knew where to start with so much to do and so many new faces. So instead, she opted to stick to a seat she'd found under some shade near a concession area.

Relief settled the butterflies in her stomach when she remembered that she'd be able to stick with at least two people.

She'd hit it off with Zachary and Amy in the chat, she hadn't expected to make connections so quickly, but she was thankful that she did. As her thumbs hovered over her phone to message where she was sitting, she thought back to his comment about her making him nervous.

Was it something she said? Done? Had she gone and said something stupid? Her mind began to race with thoughts of already ruining the first thoughts of wrecking a chance at friendship before she had an opportunity to start one. She shakes her head and eats another scoop of her ice cream, the cold sting on her teeth grounds her, unpleasant as it is.

She pushes the thought from her head as she texts Amy and Zachary where she's sitting.

Joy was hype!

To be fair her natural state (whenever her sister wasn't around) was pretty excitable and happy. Hence the lovely nickname Joy. Very few people unless they didn't know her called her Kalea. She had ever reason to be excited. She'd gotten into her first choice university, which was of course the best HBCU around. Not that she ever doubted it since she tended to always get what she wanted one way or another. She chucked it up to her getting what she deserves and there was no reason to feel any other way about it.

Today like everyday was all about Joy and her having a blast. The one cloud on an otherwise perfect day was that her sister Kinni was here too. Ok, that sounded harsh especially considering the only reason she was here was because she'd asked her to be. What? She wanted to make a great first impression, and who better to fix up her fit then her fashionista big sister? She appreciated her saying yes, though she doubted she'd ever actually turn her down for something. It was the least she could do right? Big sister duties 101 and all that jazz right?

Ok sometimes Kinni still jumped over sisterly and straight to motherly. Thought that counts yadda yadda. Joy loved her sister, but jeez. She could relax and smile a bit more.

As expected Kinni had done wonders for the terribly bland shirt. Even if she didn't ever really say it she admired her sisters' talent. She was the best in her eyes at what she did and Joy couldn't be prouder. She waited semi-impatiently for her to finish with her make-up. You'd think she'd be used to it by now, but she hated waiting for the process of things like this because she had to be still or it'd risk messing things up.

Joy playfully rolled her eyes as Kinni praised herself on a job well done. She'd be the ultimate judge of that statement. She quickly got up and walked to the nearest mirror to inspect things for herself. "Oh wow, Watashi wa piero janai." She hummed teasingly, "Not that I couldn't pull it off even if I was." She chimed grinning from ear to ear like a Cheshire cat. "But I think I have the perfect shorts to go with this."

She quickly ran into her closet rummaged around a moment before coming out with some light demin shorts that were probably a little too short for comfort. "Kyō atsuidesu ne, right?" She winked back. What? Sometimes she liked to do things just to see if it'd get a rise out of Kinni. Little sister dutiess 101.

Move in had gone smoother then she thought. She was pretty sure her Roomie didn't hate her, she got to spend time with Remi, she's talked to a few new people and is sure they are well on their way to becoming fast friends! So far Dubois seemed like it was a wonderful idea...minus all the DuChat drama that seemed to be never ending. Sure she was a LA girl so she was used to it, but that didn't make it any less... annoying.

But! That didn't involver her, so she was going to knock on some wood, and count her blessing that it'll stay that way because the last thing she needs is more drama. She crossed the entire country to get away from drama.

Speaking of drama free and new friends Orisha was one of those people. She'd been texting her on and off since move in and was really happy. The girl was so sweet and honestly it was refreshing to talk to someone like her who wasn't Remi or Liv. No offence she adored them, but she knew she'd become way too clingy if they were the ONLY people she talked to. Plus college was a great time to try and branch out of comfort zones right?

She still of course was going to hang out with her. For example though on her way back from visiting Liv's dorm she bumped into a girl named Kinni. They were both in the running for an award, and so she'd reached out to her previously...but judging from her interactions only it was probably best she kept her distance. She wanted to be a good sport tho!

Anyways the point was bumping into made her realized she probably should have done like a lot of the other girls and decorated the carnival shirt they were given. Then again Amy wasn't very creative in that way, so if she was presenting herself as she was this was pretty accurate. Not to mention she didn't want a whole lot of attention on her if she could help it.

She wanted things to progress like they would for anyone here, and she'd done a decent job. Only a few people had asked for autographs and pictures. Everyone being so busy and accomplished probably help, which was kinda part of the point of coming here. Not so many people just gawking at her. She threw on a pair of regular jeans and sneakers, finished up doing her hair and make-up, then was on her way.

She was supposed to meet up with Remi at the carnival, and she was excited. It felt like a date! Even though it'd been a while since they called any of their hang-outs a date. She just mentally did so. After all, food, live music, and they might see some of their friends there too! Sounded like a date to her.

She'd already talked to Orisha about meeting up at some point, but that'd probably be much later. Perhaps she'd even get to see Lu too.

She arrived finally and boy was it packed. She found a stand selling some food and got herself a drink before texting Remi that she was here. She'd have called if she thought a ringer could actually be heard in all this. Hopefully the buzz would be enough. In the mean time she looked around enjoying her surrounding and thinking of what she wanted to do first.

Tolu surveys the scene as he stepped into the carnival area. He looks at the map as he tries to plan what he will do and how much time he will spend at each spot. Tolu looked up and just smiled like a kid getting his first present. All the black people allowed him to not stick out like most large events he went to when he was younger. Being just other kind of made him feel freer than ever. He was interrupted by Ori text saying where she was. A new girl he connected with thru the chat craziness and dm. He was supposed to meet up with her and another’s but really Tolu mind was on meeting just her, which is why his heart was beating fast.

Tolu had only been interested in one girl all his life, Bethany who he hasn’t talk to since he transfer. Ori was not like her at all Ori seemed sweet and easy to talk to and accepting of him and others. He would hope when he says her, she would still be intrigued to say the least. All this over thinking made him not realize he was by the concession area. He looked and…. there she was he licked his lips because they were dry. He thought to himself “I can just go home the first day shouldn’t be this nerve racking. School hasn’t even started”

Tolu looks at her as she looks to be eating ice cream. Without notice they locked eyes and she smiled. He thought again…. “How can my nerve leave so fast” he smiled back and waved heading towards her.

There was a moment where Saruh thought that she would be happy if she could finish everything to do with New Student Orientation. This was the last thing she had to do. Once this was done, it was the end of NSO and she could shift her focus back on her law studies. Everything had gone on without a hitch outside of the typical fires she had to extinguish, which she was glad she had Lisette there to help.

She needed this to go off without a hitch though. She needed this to go smooth. The smoother things went, the quicker she could wash her hands with all of this. She wanted to get home and just spark up a couple of doobies and work on some music. Her guitar was calling her name. She couldn’t wait to get the pick in her hand and strum those chords and sing about nothing.

It had been a long time since she could just sit in her music room and jam out. She didn’t have to clean up, the vendors were already paid, so as soon as it ended she could skip her way out the door and into her car.

For now though, she would have to keep a close eye on how things were developing. Make sure that the vendors had enough product for all of the students, make sure that there were no fights. She would focus.

She took a deep breath as she stood in one of the many rows of seats in the arena, a notepad in hand as she watched all of the mostly younger crowd enjoy themselves. That was good and she took a gander at everyone.

She slowly pulled her phone out to text Lissy,”Hey so… uh are we hanging out after?”

Dubois was back in session, and Onyx couldn't be happier for it. With hopefully the worst year of her time here behind her she was determined to do things differently this time. After the unfortunate events of last spring and the struggle bus that was the summer she liked to think she came out of it stronger and most importantly wiser. She was entering this fall with a semblance of hope.

Why?

Well one original problem from last year was already solved. Her and Alex were back together and no longer had to worry about the issues of being in a long distance relationship. She was thankful they worked things out even if she still wasn't able to tell him the whole truth of what happened. She wanted to...she just couldn't. She was terrified of fucking things up all over again. So she'd rather leave it in the past.

She solved her issue of living situation by becoming an RA. Sure that was even more on her already full plate, but hey a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do to keep up appearances. She'd be damned if anyone here found out the truth of her situation and looked at her with pity or whatever other stupid emotion they might have. She wasn't one to ever play the victim card. Not now, not ever.

She'd helped with freshman move in, and that was exhausting. She could already tell that between Dance, her Soro, classes, and now being an RA she could basically kiss sleep good-bye.

For now with those things settled she was walking around doing her due diligence helping out around the NSO carnival. Today she was here as a dance team representative, but she couldn't help rep her Delta colors in her accessories. She'd noticed a few familiar faces in the crowd also helping out with various jobs, but she was hoping to see Alex or his sister since they were freshman this year.

With a bright smile painted onto her lips she greeted people and talked to them about the team and different sports if they were interested. She never considered herself a jock, but some things you just can't help but pick up on. Plus perhaps if she drew enough attention it'd be easier for her giant of a boyfriend to find her in the sea of students.

It hadn’t been a lie when she’d told Saruh that she had better things to do than attending the NSO carnival. Technically there were better things that she could be doing but that hadn’t meant that she would be doing them. No, Lisette had wanted Saruh to believe that she’d be someplace else. It would be better to catch her when her guard was down. It was her own fault really, there was no questioning the fact that Saruh was more than a little dense. It wasn’t like she was particularly open about her feelings. Lisette was beginning to see that she’d have to be a little more…forward. It would certainly be a challenge but she was never one to back down.

She had arrived in a decadent cloud of vanilla and cream, blended with something warm and intimate. The golden bottle had yet to be touched. The gift had been given to her by her aunt years ago but Lisette had yet to find the right occasion to use it. For the longest time it sat amongst some of her favorite scents. She could think of no better time to use it now, to wield it like a weapon or trap just waiting to be set off. Lisette had smirked when she had applied it to her pulse points. Full lips, covered in sweet gloss, had tilted into a mischievous smirk then.

It had been easy to find Saruh with a simple question of where she was. She didn’t bother to answer her question. Of course she’d spend time with her after the carnival. Lisette would steal all of Saruh’s time if she could, it was selfish of her but she didn’t care. New students moved aside as she made her way through, walking with all the confidence that had been drilled into her. She finally came to a stop when she was in the same row as Saruh.

Lisette pulled a sea down and sat, crossing one shiny leg over the other. The smile on her face held none of the usual hints of mockery, instead it was warm, coupled with lowered lashes. “Saruh, I was able to come after all. Isn’t that just great.” She glanced at the notepad in her hand. “Things are going smoothly so far, you’re doing great.”

Kinni rolled her eyes when her sister spoke Japanese. Of course, she understood it, their grandmother almost spoke exclusively in Japanese, and they had to learn it to communicate with her. It irritated Kinni though because it was another signal of the differences between the younger sibling and her two elders. Joy was under their grandmother the whole time, Jordan and Kinni under their father. She mixed Japanese in everything, they mixed Pidgin and Native Hawaiian.

“You know damn well to not have expected to look like a clown..” Kinni mentioned with a roll of her eyes, taking her phone and scrolling through it.

She looked up when she heard her mention shorts and rose a brow. She supposed it didn’t quite matter what she wore with it for bottoms and shoes if the colors matched. What she did to the shirt could go with almost anything, Still, Kinni kept an eye out until she saw what she pulled out.

They seemed to be missing some fabric, but know what? They went with the shirt and whatever shoes she was going to wear would probably match too. Fine. If she wanted to be a harlot and show all that skin her first week of school? That was on her. If she wanted to be grown she could be grown and Kinni wouldn’t stop her.

“Sure, if you want to embarrass yourself? Just say that.” Kinni said with a little irritation in her voice. Regardless of if she cared what Joy did to embarrass herself, it wasn’t just herself. It was also a reflection of Kinni too. They did share the same last name after all.

“Do you know what you’re doing after?”

If Saruh was somewhere different, she might have jumped right out of her shoes and into the middle of the gym. The sound of Lisette’s voice was a surprise to Saruh, though as easy it as it startled her soothed her and made her nervous. The smell of whatever scent she was wearing finally reached her nose beating out the smells of body odor, fried foods, and a mixture of perfumes and colognes.

You ever saw those cartoons where the smell of the pie comes over to the character and makes them float in the air? That was Saruh who slowly turned to see Lisette. She was so focused on everything that was going and in her phone that she hadn’t even noticed, and if Saruh was a different kind of woman she’d be drooling right now.

A faucet was leaking somewhere though.

A moment passed as she tried to get herself together. Her skin glowed and her lips were glossy and full and…she …was being warm? Did she just compliment Saruh on a job well done? Where was the usual mockery that Lisette flung at her. Where was the usual backhanded compliment? What was this genuine feeling of happiness for her approval that she felt? Why did she finally feel like a prayer was just answered. Why did she even care about the girl’s approval.”

“Thanks,” was the only thing she could eek out, her voice barely audible amongst the chorus of the melodies sang by the event going on below them. Though for Saruh? It was quiet and dark. All she could hear was Lisette’s voice and all she could see was her beautiful chocolate skin.

Was she nervous? This was a first. Yes, Lisette had caused her to stumble before but this nervousness was different. This was…

“I’m glad you could make it. I was sad you couldn’t at first. So it’s a nice surprise. I’m happy…”

Shai Moss
ALeon-IMG-0045.jpg
That punching bag didn't stand a chance.

His wrapped fists made rapid repeated contact with the weighted leather. He'd been going at this for a half hour now, slowly building intensity until it seemed he was putting everything he felt into that bag like it was personal.

His muscles flexed under skin glistened with sweat and a couple of stray curls along his hairline that didn't fit back into his puff laid slick to his forehead. He finally brought his workout to an end, clutching the swinging bag to his heaving chest to stop its swinging before taking a moment to pace. His fists rested on his hips while he caught his breath.

He should have been tired. He was tired. He'd already been training extra hard to make up for missed time at practice and then here he was pushing his body more. But right now, he needed it. Football had been a distraction, working out had been a distraction. It was all always a distraction.

Isaiah Tyrone Moss IV was gone for good this time and the distractions were all he had left.

Shai could feel his eyes begin to water. 'Don't…' The water began to form faster, threatening the brim of his eyes. 'I said no…' Then the first few tears spilled over, dripping down his face. He rolled his eyes and sighed. 'Goddamn.'

This is why he relished in those moments where he found himself at the gym alone.

He swiftly grabbed his sweat towel and used its corner to wipe his face. Alright. That was enough. He slung the rag over his shoulder and beat his chest a couple of times with a fist, reminding himself of his strong exterior, reminding himself there were other things to focus on.

After a shower, Shai walked out of the gym in a fresh outfit with light cologne and his impressive plume of curls free. His black bookbag was slung over his right shoulder and he appeared as though nothing had happened.

As he should.

Outside, he could hear commotion in the distance and it reminded him that the freshmen's carnival was taking place. A smirkish smile crossed his lips as brief memories of his own came to him. Then, he remembered that this was prime time for club advertisements. He wasn't necessarily thrilled about swimming his way through a sea of freshmen, but he needed to find something more mentally stimulating than sports, something more… ingenious in his life.

Immersed in the crowd, he made his way through to each club's table, just gathering information in case any of them caught his interest later. He would have to be selective as his free time was limited. However, as soon as he made it to the next table, he knew he'd found his people: Android Anarchy.

Decision made.

Shai reached for the pen lying on the member sign up form only to have his hand intercepted by another.

*TW: drug use*
Genesis had been nervous about starting another year, but was confident she'd make it through just like she always had. She was finishing her sophomore year this fall before starting officially as a junior in the spring. It still hurt that she was so behind after spending so much of her life ahead. However she had a near perfect GPA and this was a brand new place, a clean slate for her! She'd make the most of it this time.

Sure she said that last time too, but this year was going to be different because this year she'd made a plan! She had done a lot of research and figured out that the best way for her to grow and develop socially and mentally beyond mere intelligence without falling into the wrong crowd would be to join a sorority!

Which one? She had ideas, but wasn't sure just yet. Then again it should be based on who she clicks with most right? After all she believed in all their basic principles, and online a lot of them sounded similar. She wanted to decide based on what her campus chapters had to offer, and vice versa.

Still rushing and all that was still a ways away, and today was only day one. One step and day at a time. She had to remember that so she didn't get wrapped up in something too intensely. She knew it was a very slippery slope for her to get obsessed with things and reading into and watching videos about Greek life over the summer had definitely consumed her summer. Which was fine... over the summer. She knew now that she was here she had to diversify her attention, which she was notoriously weak at.

Then again that's what her favorite little orange bottle was supposed to help her with.

She got up nice and early, getting dressed casually in the NSO shirt they'd been given, a pair of gray cargo shorts, and black combat boots. She finished up straightening her hair (because once the year starts it will be curly city everyday. No time for this mess) and opened her phone to check her to-do list.

There was a lot as usual even though this was a carnival and the main goal was just to have fun. She still had specific things she knew she wanted to do. However as always the sheer amount sent her heart racing in her chest. Why she choose to damn near give herself a heart attack on the regular was a mystery to all. Truth be told she didn't know any other way to operate because to her it was only priorities... just she had a lot of priorities.

Once again her lil bottle to the rescue, had also become a part of her morning routine. Something that was just supposed to help every once in a while to maybe help cramp for a test here or there was now something she indulged in at any chance she got.

She knew better logically... but she just couldn't help herself at this point. She told herself once she graduated she'd put an end to it. She just needed to get her degree then things would be easier. She also knew she was aware because it was her little secret. Very few people knew she had any pills at all, but nobody knew just how frequently she popped them.

She washed them down with a handful of tap water. Of course it didn't kick in instantly, but just the habit... just the feeling of it calmed her just a bit. Knowing that she wouldn't have to worry soon enough at least for a little bit.

Arriving at the NSO carnival was like stepping into another world. Sure where she was from there was a decent minority population, but nothing compared to this. The atmosphere was completely different then the welcome week she'd experienced as a freshman at her previous university.

She wandered around looking at the different food stands, people, and music, but more importantly the clubs. She knew herself if she didn't diversify her attention she'd get obsessive. a club on top of work, classes, and possibly rushing would help prevent that. There was a fine line Gen liked to walk between staying 'busy' and 'overworked'.

When she saw the name Android Anarchy she was immediately sold. It was clearly meant for her. She rushed up and picked up the available pen and started to sign her name. She would've been too focused to notice someone else was just a second too slow in the same attempt if her hand hadn't brushed against his while picking it up.

"O-oh? Hi. Are you signing up to?" She spoke curiously while signing her name before offering him the pen.

Light brown eyes mapped a path of Saruh body, taking great care in starting from her own eyes before venturing down to what she more. For a moment, a split second Lisette almost made a comment about the baggy mess that she wore. The insult was at the very tip of her tongue but she fought it back. She wasn’t here to mess with Saruh, not in the way she usually did. It was clear that she had caught her off guard. The emotions on her face were clear and she enjoyed watching them bounce from one to another, it meant that she was successful.

“You’re welcome Saruh.” The words dipped in liquid sugar cane, the timbre of her voice sweet and smooth. She was also feeling a little giddy as well, being here with her like this. Lisette paid no mind to whoever else was near. Her eyes locked with Saruh’s once again, those lashes of hers fluttered coyly. “I always seem to have time for you.” And it was true. Her time was precious and so only certain people could have her stepping out from her routine or dropping plans that she’d already made.

“Saruh…the semester hasn’t truly started yet and you’re running yourself ragged already.” Lisette stood up from her seat suddenly. Saruh was only about an inch shorter than herself but with the kitten heels that she wore, Lisette nearly towered over her. The fact was not lost on her and her eyes suddenly seemed a little predatory. A hand was placed on her shoulder, slid up her neck, until it reached her cheek and settled there. Lisette was clearly staking her claim now and she only stepped closer to let anyone who watched see. “Let me take you out for a day. If you continue on with this, you’ll end up overwhelming yourself and where would that leave us hmmm?”

Lisette’s hand has a mind of its own. Her fingers lightly played with Saruh’s hair now. “That would make me happy.” She plucked the notepad from her hands and hid it behind her back. “So…?”

Remi P. Michel

Remi was a machine that never broke down. He was unstoppable and he never seemed to falter. It was 4 in the morning and he was in the weight room with the dumbells in his hands (45s) doing chest press while he laid on the bench. An hour would pass by and he had hit the weight strong as he did everything he could to make sure that he continued to get stronger. He wanted to be the best. He could throw the ball 60 yards with a flick of the wrist. It needed to be 70.

Then he was the stadium running up and down the stairs and the sun still hadn’t even broken over the horizon. Then before long he was in the shower and then though classes hadn’t started yet, he was in a tutoring session so he could get ahead on his classes. Then next his position meeting, first one there< going through his playbook. After the positions meeting, he was at the morning practice, and then offense meeting.

He was glad to finally have a break in the evening after their final film session and walkthroughs. A shower and he noticed the time. He would be late for the carnival which is fine as it seemed Amy had the idea to just meet there.

He took a long slow breath as he managed to get himself together. He put on a black pair of fitting jeans and the black canvas 4s, before throwing on a DuBois football jacket leaving it unzipped and began to move his way to the gym. He took a slow breath as he entered, the wave of noise hitting him and he looked around and nodded. He let out a yawn before rubbing his eyes and took a deep breath. He wasn’t going to last long and he knew it, he was going to have to find Amy and quick.

So he moved through the crowd. It felt like his pocket vibrated so he reached in to check and was right, but before he could text back he saw her and approached,”Babe.”

“You’re welcome Saruh.”

Was this real? Was this a trick or a game that Lisette was playing on her? Where were her usual jabs and punches that she never pulled. Why was she being nice and even more so, why did it make her squirm.

“I always seem to have time for you.”

Her heart began to increase its pace as she tried to say something in return but instead was met with a lump and silence. She watched Lisette as she rose and half heard the words she was saying. Something about her running herself ragged before the semester even starts. She felt smaller than she actually was as she looked up into Lisette’s eyes, she felt her body frozen as if she was looking in the eyes of a gorgon.

Then when she put her hand on her cheek, Saruh seemed to feel her soul leave her body. So many emotions washed over her, and she wasn’t sure which one to change. The main point of contention was that she felt butterflies in her stomach when

“Let me take you out for a day. If you continue on with this, you’ll end up overwhelming yourself and where would that leave us hmmm?”

Saruh opened her mouth to speak, to say yes, but nothing came out. She didn’t understand what was happening. What was wrong with her? Why was she feeling so lost and weak. She was going to say yes, but she had said yes to going out with Lisette before, but somehow this felt different.

“That would make me happy”

“So..?”

What was she supposed to do? What was she supposed to do….”Of course Lisette…I would do anything to make you happy. “ She moved closer to her and placed her hand on her hip, moved closer and pushed up on her toes leaning forward until their chests met and gently placed a kiss on her lips. She blinked a few times, pulling back and moving away from her.

Lisette had not been expecting soft lips against her own but it was a welcomed sensation nevertheless. She could only stand frozen, eyes wide as Saruh seemed to finally understand her intentions. Her face was hot to the touch, she was sure of it. Gone was her usual look of cool confidence. Lisette’s lips were parted, her gaze locked onto Saruh. She could hear the blood rushing in her ears and the frantic beating of her heart. Her eyes narrowed, her body moved forward without her realizing. It was almost as if she refused to let Saruh escape.

It had been too long since she’d begun this little dance without her. At the rate that she was going Lisette was beginning to feel as though all of her hints were for nothing. But as she took in the woman before her, she couldn’t help but let a smug smile slowly appear on her face. The fans had been flamed and she hoped that Saruh would be able to handle her heat from here on out. With that thought in mind Lisette stepped until they were close once again. Two captured Saruh chin and their lips met once again. Lisette claimed with her kiss, pouring everything that she’d been feeling into it.

Pulling back was a challenge for her, her hands twitched with the urge to touch but she resisted. Lisette separated herself from Saruh before she ended up doing something she wouldn’t regret. She was a lady after all, Lisette would wine and dine her date before anything else. Remembering that the notepad was still in her hands, she held it out to Saruh. Her smile was softer now, no longer filled with heat now that she’d gotten a proper taste. “It’s a date then. We’ll talk about…this while I help you unwind.”

Kinni's words as usual rolled of her tongue swiftly, but off Joy's back like nothing. When you've lived with her your whole life it doesn't tend to have the same biting effect. Unless she waws actually in trouble, but that was a different story that in Joy's eyes rarely happened. Sure they fought 24/7 but that wasn't the same as being in REAL trouble. All their difference made peace impossible. Joy understood and accepted that a long time ago. Plus...this was just so much fun.

And there it was. It wasn't too big of a reaction, but Joy didn't need big. She just needed to know it'd worked. For whatever the reason the slight irritation in her sisters voice let her know she'd gotten what she wanted out of her. Kinni wasn't all that hard to read once you got used to her. Her insults didn't sting. Well not petty ones like this. So it'd become a fun little game of hers at times like this to see if she could get a rise out of her. The bigger the better sometimes.

"If you don't like it just say that." She replied in a mocking tone rolling her own eyes and tapping her fingers together gesturing they were talking.

She walked back into her closest and changed into the shorts she'd actually planned on wearing and her shoes when she heard the question, "Nope. Though I imagine there's an after party happening somewhere I'll get invited too." She hummed walking back out to show her improved look. "Aw, Shinpai shite imasu ka? About little ole me?" She pretended to pout and place her hand over her heart before bursting out in a fit of giggles.

"I should be asking what you're gonna do now that your pride and Joy as come to help you up around here." She grinned, "Found a Boyfriend yet that can stand being around you longer then Moses yet?" She chimed. She didn't mean that Moses and her had dated just he's one of the few guys that apparently she can't shake. "I could give you a tip or two." she winked.

Sure Joy wasn't really any better then her with flings, but she always left for different reasons.

Logan’s passion has always been the youth. He came from humbling beginnings and from that he was where he is now. He knew some kids had similar stories as him maybe not as tragic, yet he knew they maybe they felt like him in his younger days…. Alone or forgotten about. Therefore, his mentoring program was such a passion project for him, and he felt like this year was going to be the best yet for him. He had some motion with asking some of the new students about joining and it seemed promising. He got some water from a pleasant freshman and his ex-Saruh was nice enough to give him a small little station at the carnival. He debates if he should go say thank you since things between them have been rocky. So, he avoided it for a while but felt his heart tugging to be nice for once.

He started to walk where he believed she was. Thinking to himself he was having such a great time and felt proud of the work he was doing that he didn’t want Saruh to ruin it with her attitude. He started to look through his phone. Dubois chat was a toxic as usual he would periodically look to make sure it wasn’t too crazy since he was a mod. He also notices some new girls on his IG page that were quite a delight to look at. For mentoring opportunities of course. He took a glance up and saw Saruh in an unfamiliar position that he wasn’t custom to seeing. Locking lips with Lisette. Both have been giving him hell like a tag team handicap match, but he didn’t know this was the reason. All he could think he would rather be literally anywhere on this campus other than looking at his ex-kiss this girl whose been a pain to him. He was already here and felt a little petty, so he walked up and said “what up ladies, I don’t mean to interrupt this love connections. I just wanted to say thanks Saruh for giving me the station for my mentoring program.” He sat back trying not to smile and just said “when di this start” as he pointed back and forth to them both “you know what never mind”

Orisha's spoon misses her mouth as she catches Lu's gaze, a cold glob of the stuff falling in her lap as she curses under her breath. Her hands fumble for a napkin, and she's thankful the dark hue of her skin hides what she's sure is a blush. She cleans as much as she can with the napkin before standing and tossing it in the trash, praying he didn't notice. She doubts it because she isn't that lucky, she never has been.

She walks over to him smiling brightly. "Hey! It's great to see you! Well, see you outside of a little screen I mean. Getting settled in okay?"

Why would she ask that? Why not ask about how he's liked the carnival so far? If he tried any fun games or rides? Butterflies nest in her stomach as she becomes aware of how many people are at the carnival and how many eyes could be on her. Her heart races as she forces herself to speak again.

"I've mostly been snacking since I got here." She ties her cardigan around her waist to hide the stain on her pants. "Would you like me to show you where the ice cream is?"

Hearing his voice in the mist of the crowd caused her to turn and finally face him. He stood out in her eyes even in a crowd like this. Perhaps that was due to practice of having to pick him out of a crowd.

He looked...tired. She couldn't blame him though. While the most time consuming part of her life was now mostly on pause, he was still in full swing going full speed at that. He seemed to have something to do every moment of the day. Had he always been this busy? Was this new because college was a whole new level, or did she just not notice as much because she was usually also running around in a crazy frenzy.

Maybe even if she wasn't producing much right now she should find something to soak up some of this free time she's about to have. She wasn't sure just yet, but she'd have to think of something. Features, and shoots won't be enough. That tutoring/mentorship offer from that guy on DuChat was a start. Damn what was his name? There were always so many of them on their talking so fast about either nothing or drama she wanted nothing to do with.

Amy smiled back at him warmly and pecked his lips gently, "Hey Babe." She wasn't sure what he'd wanna do, or what he was in the mood for all things considered. "Wanna go check out the stalls?" She asked curiously looking around a bit. Maybe rides would be a bit much if he wasn't feeling very energetic.

Her phone buzzed, and normally she wouldn't check it while she was with him, but she'd been dming Kinni and thought things were going decently well. She'd heard the rumors, she saw her in main. So she knew their was venom there, but she felt like they were doing pretty good and didn't wanna be rude. "Oh by the way I wound up messaging that other girl in the running with me. She's a bit rough around the edges, but I think things aren't as bad as everyone said she'd be." She hummed while typing up her reply. She was excited to show him that she had made some friends already! Considering even though she considered herself to be a very kind person. Socially active without necessity? Not so much. Especially when the people seemed so...aggressive.

Lisette wouldn’t let her escape. Not that Saruh was trying to, but so many times she had run from Lisette and she was sure she wouldn’t give her the chance this time. She felt her pull her close and their lips connect. She knew that Lisette was in charge and she wouldn’t have any other way.

She let her eyes close for a minute, being lost in the bliss of their kiss. Every little feeling she felt for Logan or Elliot seemed to melt away with the taste of Lisette’s lip. How long had Lissy felt like this? Was it Saruh who had been so oblivious not just to Lisette’s advances but her own feeling towards the woman. She had never felt both this safe and warm with any of the men in her life as she did with her Lissy.

When their lips separated she let her eyes open and let them get lost in hers for a second. She opened her mouth for a second to say something, but someone else’s voice said something and brought her attention away from Lisette. Of course it would be one of the men in her life that she felt drove her to this point, but she’d let it go. She wouldn’t let it ruin her moment.

She took a slow breath before turning to face Logan ,” No Logan, you didn’t interrupt anything. If you want you can head back to your booth and Lisette and I will come check it out. Okay?”

It took a single grating voice to burst the little bubble that Lisette had created around them. It took effort to not pull Saruh back in out of pure spite. Instead her eyes cut to Logan, silent as she watched him. Lisette would stay right where she was, unwilling to separate herself from the other woman just yet. Her gaze was almost daring. A large part of her wanted the word to spread. She had waited far too long for this moment, how could you blame her for wanting the world to know?

“Now, how is this any of your business?” She raised a brow. Again, it took effort to not say something snide. Lisette knew that she still needed to take care of her responsibilities. Unfortunately time would not stand still for the two of them. Without another glance at Logan, she focused her attention on Saruh. Her gaze lowered once again, a slow smile appearing on her face. “After everything’s over and done with, we’ll talk. Until then let’s make sure that everything runs smoothly.” With that Lisette brought Saruh’s hands to her lip.

Lisette sighed softly and looked at Logan once again, plastering a false smile on her face. ”Well…lead the way.”

Joy (Kalea)

Kinni didn’t let most people get under her skin, but her sister had a funny way of being able to do that with ease. She rarely could get a big reaction out of her, unless it was one of those moments where she was just being irresponsible- like missing doctor appointments. Her general callous nature though usually ticked her off.

Her mocking her was par for the course for her antics, so Kinni mostly ignored it as she checked her phone until she heard her speak again, mentioning something about an after party. She was probably right and she was extremely pretty so she wouldn’t have any trouble finding something to do, but still Kinni was just checking in on her little sister.

When she spoke Japanese kinni rolled her eyes,”I’m not worried about you..and you know you’re in America, you can speak English.”

Kinni let out an audible scoff as she began to walk to the door, “I don’t need your advice. No one here meets my standards, but I’m sure you’ll have no issue as fast as you are.” She stopped short of the door and looked back at her sister, “You really do look beautiful Joy. Be careful, okay babes?” and with that she left out the door.

For everything that HBCUs did better, there was one thing a lot of PWIs did match or exceed at, especially in the south. That was football game day. The atmosphere at a lot of the big PWIs was unmatched and though an HBCU homecoming tailgate would still be untouchable, most Saturdays there those HBCU stadiums couldn't compare to those big school game days. Except The Illustrious DuBois university. The largest HBCU in the nation and the only Power 5 HBCU in existence. Though homecoming was another level, today? The first game of the season? The first game with their highly touted 5 star qb who was supposed to bring their program to the next level? The world couldn't WAIT to see the connection between Moses King and Remi Michel, the only two 5 stars in football in school history. The weight of the world was on their shoulders. This felt like the year they had to prove to recruits out there that DuBois just wasn't an HBCU who excelled in basketball. No. They needed to prove to recruits that they come to DuBois, be with their own people, and make it to the NFL.

Today, at 3:30 they played NC State. It was going to be on ESPN2, but it was getting national covered.
#24 DuBois vs #17 NC State (-10).
The Wolves vs The Wolfpack.
A game where NC State was favored by two scores. A team known for having the best Defense in the ACC after Clemson. This would be the test. Could True Freshman, #12 Remi Michel score on that vaunted Defense?

That was even what Remi was asking himself as he sat in the locker room with his black beats covering his head. He was in all of his equipment except the helmet, which sat neatly next to him in his locker. The black uniform clung tightly to him, as he preferred to wear his sleeves super short. He was feeling the pressure, but he didn't pick his phone up. Nope. It was off. It was tucked in his DuBois duffle bag in his locker. Amy was on the field, Maggie was on the field, so he would talk to them when he needed to after the game, but right now? He was focused.

Mo motioned to him to come over as they were about to run the tunnel, they had already done their warm ups, now was just a little more warm up before the coin toss. The other team had ran out, and Remi took his beats off and he could hear the crowd roaring. Their stadium only fit 70000, but it sounded like 100000 thousand. He tightened the white glove on his left hand, put his helmet on and ran to catch up with Mo as the team ran out on the field to the sounds of loud roars.

Mo, Remi, and a couple of other players walked out to the center of the field as captains for the cointoss. They looked sharp in their pitch black uniforms with the only thing not black on them was the white writing with silver borders that spelled out Wolves on the front, their numbrs on the front and backs, their names on the back, the two white wolf paw prints on either shoulder. The Jordan patch on their jerseys in white, and the blue, white, red and yellow SEC patch on the other side of their chest. Their helmet was all black except for their paw print logo on either side.

The referee showed them the coin, and Remi called for heads and it landed on heads. He chose to defer and the other team chose the end zone they'd start with before they all exchanged handshakes and ran back on their side of the field.

They would have to wait a series before they got to see Remi so Remi started taking to the Offensive coordinator. The first drive was scripted. They didn't want to do too much so when their defense was able to get a 3 and out, and they got the fair catch of the punt on their own 20, Remi ran out of the field with his offense to an eruption of applause.

There was no need for a huddle, as they had already got their play on the sideline. Remi tugged on the white sleeve on his right arm, and then pointed withe sleeveless and gloveless right hand, and watched as Mick moved from the right across the formation before he snapped the ball, handed it off to Mick who scampered for 12 yards and a first down.

A few more up tempo plays and they marched down to the NC State 45. A play action to Makaio and Remi turned and threw a beautiful ball to Moses who was wide open but somehow dropped the ball for what would have been a sure touch down. The large human patted his chest with a my bad, before they all ran back to the huddle. A toss to Mick who was open across the middle on a slant route, and he dropped it too. Mick was frustrated and Remi did his best to calm his two receivers down. They ran it on the last play before punting the ball.

The rest of the half went kind of like that. Remi ended up 10/18, for 190 yards, and 45 rushing yards and touch down.
Moses had 1 catch on 5 tgts for 35 yards (3 drops)
Mick had 1 rush for 12 yards, and 0 catches on 4 targets (2 drops).
Shai had 3 catches for 55 yards.
Meech had 5 catches for 65 yards.
Makaio had 45 yards on 6 rushes.

NC State was winning 17-13 at the half.

Remi was livid. Before the coach could even say anything, Remi was ripping into everyone, especially Moses and Mick. He knew Stassi was throwing Moses off and he knew Mena was messing with Mick, but he needed them to focus.

Remi didn't know if it was him or not, but the second half? They came to play.

It came down to the last drive, NC State was up by 2, they had gotten the ball on their 25 with two minutes left. Then magic happened. Remi snapped the ball, did a play action to Makaio turned around into a bootleg, but tucked the ball running 30 yards and out of bound at the NC State 45. He ran back to the huddle looked to Mick, letting him know he was coming to him and calling the play. He moved pulled the whitemouth piece out of his face mask and into his mouth coming behind the center as he watched the clock tick. He pointed to Moses who nodded, raised his leg as he watched Mick start to move in motion and when the DB didn't follow him, he immediately snapped the ball and Mick looked like he was going for a slant route and the line backer bit, but then turned it into an out route and Remit threw a bullet across the the field as Mick caught it and was tackled at the 25. Their coach wanted them to play for the game winning field goal and burn clock, but Remi and Moses made eye contact and nodded.

There was 45 seconds left on the clock and Remi watch it tick down. He wiped his right hand on the towel calling out orders. Mick moved to motion, but when the DB moved he turned around and went right back to his spot. It was man, and Mick was going to be a decoy over the middle and he was going to throw a fade to Moses. He let the playclock trickle to 1 and the game clock to 20, before he snapped the ball. It was supposed to be a run to Makaio, but when he saw Mick break and the linebacker break too with the DB, Remi with ease threw the ball in the air high and in the back corner of the endzone to the right. Moses timed his jump perfectly going over the defender, getting one toe down before the DB pushed him out the back of the end zone. The refs' hands went in the air to signal touch down and the crowd went nuts. One of the linemen picked Remi up and held him in the air, as Remi pointed to the sky before he was dropped back down. He ran up to Moses who was celebrating and they did their handshake routine, before hugging and running to the sideline. The extra point was good and DuBois was up 45-40, and that score would hold.

Remi had his first win as a college QB under him and he felt like he was on top of the world. They shook the other teams hand and as he was running off the field he got stopped for an interview on live tv.

Reporter: How does it feel to beat a power 5 team as tough as NC St in your first game?
Remi: It feels like it's just step one. We're taking it a week at a time and now we'll focus on our next opponent.
Reporter: Do you think you have a shot at winning a championship?
Remi: That's always the goal, but we can't worry about that today, we have to worry about getting better every day and focusing one game at a time.
Reporter: That last throw was gutsy, did you think he was going to come down with it?
Remi: I always trust my guys. We practice every day, we practice hard, we're a team and if I'm throwing it to him I believe he's coming down with it.
Report: Thanks Remi.

Remi moved off from the reporter and towards the rest of his team.

What he didn't know had happened, because his teammates kept it hush from him because of how focused he was, was that Maggie had been show on the jumbotron as his girlfriend. An issue he'd have to deal with when he met up with Amy later.

For now he was 1-0 and going to celebrate hard as hell later at Stassi's party.

Remi Michel 25/45 375 Yards 3 Touchdowns, 75 Rushing 1 Touchdown
Moses King 6 Receptions 135 Yards 2 Touchdowns
Mick Murphy 5 receptions 95 Yards 1 TD, 3 Rushes 45 yards
Demetrius Joseph 7 Catches 85 yards
Shai 4 catches 65 yards
Makaio Stewart 105 yards 1 touchdown

Current time:

7:30 After the game.

Stassi's party starts letting people in at 9:00
