“What a rude man.” Percival dared to say once the winged hunter had stomped off and barged into the kitchens.

"First time, good heavens, first time leaving and it is hunting monsters?" Ana stated as it seems rather extreme, felt a bit bad for Meg as setting foot outsides by basically a job, hunting a beast that could end her life. Brave but hope she is alright, physically seem so, but emotionally did not know. Hearing she wants the top, Anat noded and smiled "alright, up ya go" as she began to make herself comfy on the bottom bunk, and slightly glad, being more so In away blind sighted did not make climbing down so easy, especially when tired. Now with all out the sorcerer grabbed the books and slid them under the bed wishing not to take space and placing some of her knacks on the night stand on the side. Unstrapping the large spellbook on her waist, she placed it on the corner of her bed wishing it to be as close a possible, and as she began to take her clothes out to accommodate them.

As soon as Anat heard Meg mention how if she would have asked sooner, it would have been different. The conjurer stopped doing her current action and decided to place full attention on Meg, knowing that somethings bothering her and the fact they seem get along just as fine and, Anat, did not mind at all Meg and could easily call her as a friend, and they just met! Maybe it's the fact she is friendly as one could ever be and caring. But right now Anat wanted to hear fully what was troubling her.

Anat silently noded, it was true, this place was alot more friendly that she thought at first glance "i agree at whole heart" keeping it short not wishing to intterupt her as the woman still spoke. Drfting in to what botherd her of the quest, seeing how the (maybe?) elf turn to see her, and Ana looking right back, as stated, wishing to give her attention. Hearing every words and chuckling together as meg said again, she has never left Colby and now, going in to the outside world to hunt...whatever there may be, Ana could imagen how hard must be, especially some one as her. And as soon, the woman she thought was a water mage, stated that what they hunted was a boulder thing, Ana remember when she just came to the guild seeing the beast being dropped, it was not small at all and alredy seem as a issue "yea, i saw it when I was with Beryl" Ana looking how Meg easily and effortlessly manipulated water, was mesmerizing as Ana has rarely seen magic if such type.

Ana was about to say something of quest accuracy, yes it's true, any detail given and everything should be stated but Ana can maybe think that, they did know even know what they were dealing with? A excuse in a way but still, the dangers are there and maybe should be investigations? Ana just got in here and same as Meg maybe its normal, she can't say, she has not even taken a quest yet!

"I agree in many ways, it can be dangerous not being on point in the details, only for it to be far from what you expected...and maybe get some one killed. But maybe people just dont know? I mean, best call profecional to see befor observing if its dangerus yourself...well" Ana air quoted "profecionals....we are just starting.., i am glad ramirez was there or maybe this could have been different" and soon, wandering in thought, she looked at Meg "and who is this Connor? You seem botherd by her, did she do something? Bad vibes?" Meg never left the bath house and in her quest was men, so maybe the connor lady was the one in the bathhouse after? "you mean the one you were with in the bath house?" Ana did not see much in the lady other that, yes, she was a magic user by her sight. Ana did not over hear anything so doubt it was some kind of verbal reason.

“Solo…” Percival looked both impressed and confused at the same time. “I thought that was against the rules here?” And after fighting the Shaelmaar earlier, pretty much a death- sentence in Percy’s opinion.

The Teen caught a group of hunters pointing his way and laughing at the bedsheet he had wrapped around his bottom half.

“Um… you wouldn’t happen to know if there’s a tailor in the city… would you?” Percy asked Ramirez. He’d left home in such a hurry that he hadn’t brought any spare clothes. It was probably a good idea to go out and buy some.

Urzoth’s first stop was the kitchens. They were regretting not letting Akela eat that deer. Then at least, they would only have to deal with Kenai’s hunger. Hunger is not something unusual to wild animals. Predators would have to succeed in their hunt, which did not always happen. But their ancestors were only represented by those animals, they lived their lives as strong orcs. So focused were they, that they missed the blue fire appearing near the bar. Thankfully, since the alcohol being caught alight would cause a riot, nevermind the damage the fire would do.

Marahute caught Tobias lifting the dead python onto the bar. Urzoth took a moment to be grateful they couldn’t reach it. They doubted it would ever get clean. Poor Barry. That snake reeked. Still, Callan could be the responsible adult. Getting a wave from Colin without even having to speak, the half-orc rolled to one of the empty tables, not feeling any desire to talk. She could see Yelania doing the same. They could share a table of silence, but there would still have to be the obligatory greetings, which Urzoth was hungry enough to turn into a grunt instead of words.

Their thoughts were fuzzed as they waited, clear of anything but hunger, but after Colin brought out a large roast, with the side of venison, they began to think. Callan’s behavior around the rookie might be amusing, but it always was strange. It did seem more caring than a simple debt would require. But what was their connection? Tobias’s answer didn’t inspire depth. Certainly not of the kind that should screw with Callan’s head enough to make a rookie mistake. One the actual rookies didn’t do.

They caught Rika’s laugh, smirking some when they turned to see her with Callan. The thought of him enjoying the conversation with Mr. Loudmouth was amusing, even if they were too far to hear any of it. He was getting quite the crowd, even the new recruit, a large red lizard-folk joined the group.

They were finishing their first course when Connor and her armor left the guildhall. Barely bothering a nod, her bloodied state reminded the orc to check their legs for any cuts. That altar exploded with enough force to possibly make it through the leather of her boots, or the fabric of their pants. Glancing down, they didn’t see any blood staining the light fabric, allowing them time to worry about it.

Colin had returned with another plate of meat when another commotion broke out. Some kid had walked in with less than his skivvies on. What the fuck. They shared a look of exasperation, what was he even thinking, with the cyclops before he left to return to the kitchen. They weren’t surprised by Callan’s response but were by Rika’s. Something must have happened while she was out. Urzoth didn’t care beyond making a note not to go on a hunt with her until she evened out.

It was solved by the Loudmouth though, which improved the atmosphere by guiding the young lad to the dormitories. Yay. He could be useful. They returned to their meal. Ramirez entered--even distracted a man that size is hard to miss--taking his spot in the back. They continued to clean their plate. They noticed Barry dragging, oh yes, that was Pestle but ignored it. The snake was likely unkillable, already being dead, and smart enough to get back in after the barkeep threw it out. She was unsurprised that Tobias called out to protect it--though maybe that he noticed, was he still drinking Dragon’s Fire?

When finished they glanced around, pulling away from the table. Callan was busy--how did Ramirez convince him to stay and talk? How drunk was the siren? Had he passed through curmudgeonly into…friendly? What the fuck. Well, at least he’d likely be more talkative when they caught him. They rolled toward Lander instead, planning to catch Callan when he retired to the dorms and greeted them with a nod.

LANDER

the traveler

Lander sighed through his nose and took another gulp of the stout that was beginning to turn lukewarm in his hand. So much for that. Maybe if Beryl didn't mind Connor going on a quest alone, he could convince the Guild Master that he could take on something by himself as well. After all, the two veterans had been there for almost the same amount of time -- or perhaps they hadn't? He realized that he didn't know a lot of his guildmates as well as he suspected he did. Quite the conversationalist you are, Lander, he thought wryly.

It seemed that many had gone in the direction of the bathhouse since Lander had been sitting at the bar, watching all of the others drink and brood and make merry. He thought about the hot water seeping into his skin and relaxing his muscles, and while it was certainly a tempting concept, there were simply too many people present for him to justify going. Although most Guild members had their own baggage, and thus didn't care much about anyone else's, he refused to remove his clothes in anyone else's presence unless it was absolutely necessary. It meant several nights of sneaking into the bathhouse in the wee hours and sinking into the water to remain mostly submerged for the majority of his soak. Perhaps it may be something that I can escape to later on tonight. It would be nice not to have to wash just using the cold water in the wash basin in my room again.

When another presence entered his immediate space, it pulled him out of his thoughts about warm water. When he realized it was Urzoth -- another veteran, someone that he'd only had a handful of conversations with, but all of them good-natured for the most part -- he returned the nod and said,
"Any luck today yourself, or did you mostly hang around the Inn? Can't see you doing much of that, though."
The half-orc Hunter was known to be persistently chasing quests, regardless of what the task at hand might be.

Ramirez chuckled "You can borrow some of mine for now...may have to take them in a bit..." he pondered as he ushered the lad up the stairs to the private quarters. Unlocking his door to show a modestly furnished room with various hunting trophies, knick knacks, jars of trimmed blue stones and various bits of armour and weapons. The man plodded to a set of drawers to rumage for some spare clothes.

The half-orc snorted a laugh, “Luck? I took a couple of rookies to find a dog and found a Leshen instead.” At least the rookies did well. There were some they were positive would have died if that was their first hunt. And Beryl hated the waste of potential resources. Urzoth felt it was culling the herd.

They wanted a drink; it was strange not to see Barry at the bar. Scanning they found him beside an old human. How strange. Did they know each other? They’d noticed him dragging Pestle out, but hadn’t he given him to Tobias? Their gaze drifted up the bar, finding the undead snake curled up near the drinking rookie. God, now that they were paying attention, they could smell it from here. How did Morgana stand it or herself for that matter? Had she removed her sense of smell in her experiments as well as half blinded herself? The prospect disturbed them. Focusing back on Lander, they asked“What of you? Any interesting hunts?

He wiped his forehead as he took it all in, giving the place a complete look over standing in the doorway. Out of fear of getting in someone's way he stepped aside and approached an empty table setting his pack upon it. He was still in the throes of adjusting to not being in a cramped ruin who's only dwellers were rats and monsters of the unfriendly sort. he took a seat at the table and took out an empty journal and started viewing everything he could see in sight, flipping to empty pages

Meg remembered that Adolphous, the large armored knight who signed up when she did, had joined the quest without any veterans going. She hoped they were okay, even if he looked much more prepared than she was. But Meg had been upfront about that. The guild advertised it took beginners. She wondered if they’d returned. If she wasn’t mistaken the quest took them to a ruin beyond the wall: that had to be a long trip.

Taking a deep breath, Meg took a second to sort her thoughts. She knew immediately she had to warn Anat. She was too kind not to. But she needed to filter out her assumptions. She could add them, but focus on what she knew first. “She came in followed by a suit of armor.” It was odd phrasing that way, but knowing it was empty of a body, that was the best way she could. “It acted as a servant would: silent, cleaning up after her, taking the clothes she’d worn away, washed her back later.” She looks down at herself, then back to Anat. “I know that behavior well. I wasn’t often the one to serve special guests, but sometimes I would. I know how a noble acts, as dirty as my blood is.” Continuing as she sat up again, surprisingly without hitting her head, “The other girl reinforced that idea. Or at least that she was someone powerful.” Laughing at herself, she added, “I’d initially gotten the idea there was no difference in class here.” Shaking her head, she spoke further. “It was normal enough at first, she’s known as the Phantom Armorer--and it quickly became obvious why once the suit of armor returned. It sat like a normal person, but when it removed its gauntlet nothing was there.” With a frown, she tried to explain, “Like no hand or arm, as you’d expect. But the gauntlet’s fingers still moved. I figured out it was empty of a body, but that only really leaves a spirit or ghost controlling it.” She sounded freaked out, but pressed on, trying to keep only to the facts, “I mean, I don’t know what was. Just that no one was in it. It shined with magic, but I couldn’t tell you if a soul was trapped in it or not.” Then she added the part that had kept her from just screaming about necromancy. “Just as we were leaving, she said she was controlling that one with her soul, but she could control any armor she made.” Which told Meg to never get any armor from the lady.

The Halfway Inn was a crude, moss-covered little hut by the edge of the Cackling Woods. It was popular with travelers and hunters alike as it was exactly halfway between Colby and Baylin’s wall.

Inside was cramped, but cosy. Pokey little windows, thick wooden beams on the ceiling, and upturned half-barrels for tables and chairs.

Annie, the buxom tavern keeper, was doing her best to serve her patrons as they boisterously chatted to one another. A few dwarven loggers were sharing a pipe together at one table, and at another a group of Hunters were boasting about their latest quests and monster kills.

“Barry.” The redheaded dwarf shook Gol’s hand.

“Aye, the ones at the back.” Barry suggested when the older man asked which quests he should undertake. Some poor folks had been waiting weeks for their quest slips to be answered.

“You’ll find the board on the wall over there. I’ll fetch yer drink.” The Barman waddled off to find something strong for the rookie.

The wall which Barry referred to had a cork board absolutely filled with slips of paper. There were so many quests and notices that they’d been pinned on top of one another.

Gol nods as he gets up and walks over to the cork board of quests, his eyes travel from quest to quest as he reads them all over, he eventually stops his gaze on one. "Gone Fishing. Seems like a monster I have yet to catalogue, this would be an ample opportunity to study it.", he quietly says to himself as he grabs the paper from the board, he wasn't quite sure on hall etiquette, but he assumed it would be fine if he took the paper from the wall. He returned to his table and sat back down; he would ask the dwarf about the quest when he brought the drink. He returned to the book he had set down on the table.

Anat stood up slowly from the bed soon after meg sat up as she clearly seem confused and shocked. Ana placed a single hand on the top bunk to posture herself and hear out Meg and to give her a sense that yes, Ana was paying full attentinon. But even still ana was shocked at what Meg was saying, she did not focuse that well upon what was outside of changing room while she took her time, mostly lost in thought. She remember seeing the armor and the woman and that explains the glow she could see with her true sight. The mage could tell Meg was not to keen on magical arts and could not blame her as magic itself was complicated in more aspects one could count. Ana could try and explain the magical aspect of the situation, but the differnce in class? Ana could not say much, she did not directly meet the woman and even do, class and difference is a thing sadly, maybe this woman was not all that to be, she was here to hunt and be with other hunters and Ana doubts class would interfere in it..but now, her acting outside of it or royalties expectations? That's a whole different story that Ana could not think well of.

"Meg I can help you understanding but I assure you I very much doubt her magical suits of armor have actual spirits or souls in them...how I put it..." Ana tap her chin think, remembering her spell book, look at Meg Ana tried her best "her armor might be a sort of construct...magical objects given will by the caster. They don't have personalities, they are like a puppeteer and it's marionette. Maybe when she said that her armor was controlled by a part of her soul, she actually ment it." Ana smiled hoping that it made sense. Unlike her magic, she did not control what she summoned, only told it what to do and hope it would obey witch, they 89% of the time, would as Ana is aware sometimes, especially one specific summon, can get rather rowdy.

"Remember dropsies? He was...well him...he had a will, he was there and he knew I was his partner or owner in a way...like a pet" then she shrug slightly " But that's just him, most my other summons are very much aware what they are here for, they think, they feel and they can just say...no to me. But Connors? Her walking suits of armor might be are more akin to a puppet? I can't say much, I don't know how it works. But I can assure you Meg, they are not like tortures souls or such ok? Well I hope so" Ana admiting, she can't just guess how it works but she very much doubts that. The guild would not allow that kind of magic here she hopes. But Ana then sigh deeply and admitted one last thing "But she being royaltie and acting as one is something i expected. If she is royal, she will have those habits of the family and I cant blame her, she was born it or brought in to it, family habits stick. But she is a hunter, I for one never expect royaltie to dirty they boots in mud and blood with monsters or ghouls. So I feel she is more.....how I put it....like uhhh...has the habits of one" Ana tried thinking if a word, not wishing to sound insulting or with some sort of hatred towards a woman she has not met, maybe meeting her to clear the air and getting to know why she is here would make Meg think different, maybe even Ana could get some insight how this whole armor thing woks and Meg as well. Ana was not born in royaltie but she was born in welth, so she did not know the struggles of those who had less than her, but her mother being a devoted cleric, was easy enough for her to see it. Ans after becoming a cleric and having all stripped away. She had the experiance and the ability to help them. But she stills has that small attitude especially in the food department...Connor might make it seem like there is class differnce but both just got here so things might be alot more different than they actually are.

Looking at Meg and smiling, she hope that helped. "Truth be told, constructs are technically servants made by yourself, like a personalized helper to your needs. Extra body you control in a way" without proper insight, Ana could not throw presumptions around how Connors armor works, she would suggest to meet her again but Meg seem tensed still and botherd. The mage hope that what she said could ease up and help her understand. Wishing yo make sure Meg is alright, Ana wonderd if she would like to see dropsies again and let her ask some questions to get her distracted. or maybe go see Percy and Ramirez, maybe being in the group would ease her mind. In adition She has seen Meg stare at her books, maybe she was Curious.

"Would you like to see dropsies again?" She asked with a smile, anything to ease her mind, she felt heartily with Meg, maybe was her years caring for people day in and day out and well, it's her duty. But she could not tell, hoping the water mage felt a bit better and a understood things. She did sound a bit freaked out.

The man listened to Connor’s explanation about her armor, while admiring her beauty. In fact, while they were a bit distant of each other, his hazel-colored eyes found themselves locked onto her green ones, only breaking away when she began to explain about the armor she had crafted. Not only its appearance was unique, without anything else he had ever seen, something else was revealed about it: it was in fact unoccupied. That explained one point which he had wondered about it. When the armor was at the bar, having a possible argument with the dark-hooded fellow, he thought he had seen one or two weak points in it. At the present moment, there were none. An invulnerable fortress, without occupant. Not only the woman had a singular beauty, she had such impressive skills, both in her armor-crafting and the skill to manipulate it - “Your skills sont impressionnantes… and not only them” - he ended, with a smile on his lips.

His attention was then focused on the black-haired woman. When those words were said in his native tongue, regardless of provincial it may have sounded, it was simply music to his ears. To hear his language for the first time, since he had arrived to this new land, was an immeasurable delight. A smile, devoid of any hidden meaning, appeared on his lips - “Your pronunciation est parfaite. If you ever wish to practice, it will be my pleasure” - saying so, the man used his wet hands to pull his the bangs and the side of his below-the-ear hair backwards. After he was done, he decided to rest his arms on the sides of the edge of the bath, leaving his chest open.

Following that, the question Rika posed him made the man re-double his cautions. She wanted to know the young Percival’s place of origin. Was she attempting to delve into the nobility most tried and experienced battleground - the battle with a sharp tongue? Despite her words of regret, Pierre couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off. Still, he didn’t possess the answer she was seeking - “I am terribly sorry, mademoiselle, but the boy, in fact, never revealed his origins” - Parry. The man shook his head negatively with his response - “I did happen to find out the young man is eligible, if he matches your fancy, I could try and steer him your way” - Riposte. While it may have seen that those words had some negative meaning behind them, they were free from malice from his tone, accompanied by a neutral, but friendly expression. The former-guard had decided to keep Rika under his radar after all, he did say it: noblemen ought to stick together.

It was then that Connor reemerged much closer to him, almost in arms reach. It was certainly a delightful surprise, his heart starting to beat faster. Now his focus was completely captured by the blond-haired woman. It would take nothing short of a Herculean effort to try and divert it from her, something he would never dream of trying to do. From the closer distance, he could see her features better. His gaze moved, slowly, from her green eyes, to her cheeks, lips, neck line and made its way back to her eyes. To say he was interested in her would be a gross understatement - “You are even more beautiful up-close, ma chérie” - the man turned his torso towards Connor, his voice as melodic as ever - “I do wonder how your lips taste like” - Pierre concluded, alternating his gaze between her green eyes and her lips.

“Can’t say I know much about aquatic monsters. Can’t even swim.” Barry admitted. “Best off chattin’ ter some o’ the Veterans.” He suggested.

“Oh, you’d like a room?” Annie reached for a key from behind the bar and handed it over to the masked man. “It’s ten bronze per night… breakfast’s included.”

“…. weirdo.” One of the hunters muttered to the others as the masked stranger lit a leaf on fire. They went back to drinking and chatting amongst themselves.

*The man nodded and reached into a small pouch on his side and takes out exactly 10 bronze and sets it in front of her*

“Cheers, Love.” Annie smiled and scooped up the coins. “Rooms are through that door over there.” She pointed past the group of dwarves to a doorway at the back of the room.

“Come on then you lot.” One of the hunters stood up and stretched. “Better get on with this hunt before we’re all soused.”

“Booooo!” Came the chorus from his guild mates, but they all downed their drinks and started getting ready to leave.

He disappointedly puts down the green book, he didn't get any information to go in it, not even folk tales or legends to jot down. "Thanks for the drink, I appreciate your time.", he took a drink of the strong stuff and immediately was thrown for a spin, he should've asked for something gentler on his palate, but he drank at it none the less, his father would crawl out of his grave if he wasted liquor. He gave the dwarf a nod and scanned the room for any experienced looking adventurers, or anyone that might have been viewing the board for their next adventure.

Inchoate as she was to sudden lack of probity that befell most men when they began to court a woman, Rika knew what attraction looked like when she saw it. Pierre’s answer to her inquiry, while honest, was of scarce little use to her, nearly less so than the information that came afterward, that he (the boy in question) was available. And yet… if she’d been talking to anyone else, it would’ve seemed spurious to her that such a man could ascertain this information about the boy’s love life without so much as having acquired a name. Though as yet Pierre was clearly an encomiastic gentleman, he seemed inured to prevarication. He appeared almost single-mindedly wont to romance, so the prospect, while strange, seemed apt for him (if only for him.)

I see.” Rika remarked with a quiet acquiescence. “Thank you, but…” She was suddenly interrupted by the sight of the interaction between Connor and Pierre. His libidinousness was compounded when suddenly Connor’s proximity became disconcertingly lessened. The two appeared ready to engage in the kind of “battle” that didn’t warrant an audience, and as such, Rika nodded and, whilst the two were preoccupied, quietly stood (save the disturbance of the water), grabbed her nearby towel and wrapped it around herself (and her left arm), ducking behind one of the changing screens. Drying her hair and the remaining water from herself, she donned her bloomers and night gown, quickly fluttering her hair out from the neckline of the shirt. Peeking out from behind the two, to see if they were still occupied, she then made her way out of the bathhouse door. “I uh— Evening, you two!” She said with a smile and a polite laugh, she wouldn’t be involved, but when romance called, she wasn’t one to challenge it, even finding it winsome in some rare cases.

Having made her way down the hall, she sighed. She’d practically sprinted to liberate herself from that situation, and even laughed a little at how childish she still was, despite how much she’d seen well before her adult life. It almost warmed her to see that affection could happen so spontaneously, so easily. Such things were ultimately, however, irrelevant to her.

As she continued toward her room, thoughts of the rejected charter began to resurface, one in but a litany of setbacks that she'd had to face of late. The approach of the perspicacious benefactor would clearly no longer be enough to sway the proctors of the capital scholars to fund her expedition. With thoughts of the Renton scholars, came thoughts of the emblem that could be seen on every flag, impost, and nave of the city, including on the armor of the boy that she’d seen earlier. Again, her mind bounced back and forth between her overarching troubles and that happenstance meeting, and how much danger she might be in... ultimately settling on how she was to acquire what she wanted, a link to the riches of Renton without getting dragged back to the capital itself in chains… and then Pierre’s proposition emerged… “It would be killing two birds with one stone, I suppose…” As if on queue, she came across what appeared to be an open door. Inside, she heard a few familiar voices. The first was Ramirez, the familiar hunter whom that Meg girl had mentioned earlier, and…

“What do you do with all of these?”

As she passed by the room, it took all she could muster not to rubberneck, for with a brief glance, she passed by the open door en route to her own, and when she finally reached the end of the hall, stopped in front of her own door, contemplating the weight of the desperate, and possibly cruel decision which stood before her. Just as she’d been earlier appreciating the solemnity of romance, so too was she now plotting like the machinating nobles whom she so detested. But it stood to reason: it probably wouldn’t even work, and even if it did, whence could some detestable nobleman measure against time; time which, for her, was surely running out…

After the group of hunters left, Annie busied herself clearing up all of their mess.

Outside, the boisterous quest group headed off into the woods.
