October 32 12:00 am
The moon was swollen and heavy in the sky, half-hidden, as if sunken into a grave of silver clouds. Stars twinkled wherever they could, appearing and disappearing as the wind smeared puffy streaks across the inky black of space.

Below it all, the street lights looked hazy and far off. A fog had settled in after the last trick-or-treaters had long retreated home with their bounty of candy, and the streets were left deserted save for a stray candy wrapper or clump of faux cobweb. Somewhere, a dog barked for a moment, then hushed.

A tense silence hovered over the streets, the only sound being the wind and the subtle sizzle of the fluorescent lightbulb of the bus stop. The time was now 11:55 pm, five minutes until midnight, and most importantly, the beginning of the infamous Halloween Game. Perhaps you took the time to check over your instructions and make sure all the proper items were in order. Maybe you took another drink of alcohol and wondered what possessed you to stand at a bus stop at midnight with a creepy doll in hand.

Regardless, it was not long before midnight drew near. At exactly 11:59pm you placed the doll in the middle of the road and dialed your number into your phone. It rang, for how long you could not say, until you were sure it would go on forever. Then it stopped, and a soft sobbing could be heard on the other end.

Recalling the instructions, you hung up. If during this time you happened to look at your phone’s date and time, you would have noticed that it now read October 32, 12:00 AM. The air grew cold as your phone rang, a familiar tune now made eerie. You closed your eyes and ignored the call, after it faded into silence you heard a hoarse voice.

"ₕₐᵥₑ yₒᵤ ₛₑₑₙ ₘy cₕᵢₗd?"

Rather than coming from the phone, the voice sounded like it was whispered from just above your head. A slight static came from your phone, underneath which was the sound of raindrops on pavement. A weak, warm wind stirred your hair.

This symbol is meant to indicate that your character’s life is at risk. This is usually whenever they are brought to low HP or face an usually large threat. Most of the time, an untimely death can be avoided by a variety of actions. Fighting, clever tricks, running, and even hiding are all very valid ways to avoid death. However, sometimes specific actions are needed to survive. (don’t worry, these are not very common, and are usually after certain environmental or pre-established hints.)

1635857364075.pngThe large polaroid camera hung from Isui's neck awkwardly, the video camera set up just in the perfect spot to catch everything he was doing. He was going to prove to them all that it was real. His face still stung from earlier in the day when he said just that to some boneheads who had been commenting on the occult. His eye was still swollen shut painfully, the eyepatch covering the mess that was it. He absentmindedly touched it with featherlight fingers before he set himself with a determined look, "lets do this!"

he followed the instructions, a set of them written on a faded piece of paper he had gripped tightly in his hand, he of course had extra copies in his pockets in case of emergencies. He breathed in the night air deep into his lungs, clutching the old porcelain doll in his hands, it was a beautiful doll, one of his grandmothers that had been passed down when she died. There were what seemed like hundreds of them, kept in boxes collecting dust, his mom, despite being her daughter, wanted nothing to do with them. He had picked an attractive one with silky black hair and brown eyes that resembled black. She wore a baby pink dress that flowed down like waves, holding a small parasol in her hands, a look of peace on her face. He didn't know why he chose this one, it just seemed to call to him when he had looked through the boxes. He shook off his thoughts, he had to speed this up.

He looked down at one of the 4 watches he had brought with him, he were not going to die stupidly like other's in horror movies, the time spot on as he placed down the doll gently, breaking eye contact with her beautiful eyes as he turned and continued the steps. As he glanced down at his watch his smile grew wide at the date that displayed, "Fuck y e s." he quickly followed through and hanging up on the painful sobs and ignoring the call that rang on his flip phone. He couldn't help but tense up, feeling cold air for a second before he heard the hoarse voice.

H a v e y o u s e e n m y c h i l d ?”

It croaked in an almost painful way as Isui gulped down his fear, "I-I saw them playing on the road." he spoke back, feeling confident in the moment due to the fact he knew exactly what he had to do. He gripped the paper fondly in his hands, almost as if to thank it. He just hoped that the information he had received was accurate.

Emilia stood on the middle of the road, with the doll sitting in the street lifelessly. She glanced at the clock on her phone, almost time. The number had already been inputted into the keypad, all she needed to do was hit the dial button. She wondered about all the information she had read about online. She had memorized all the information, it was all in her head. She made sure to double check, triple check even, making sure she knew what she needed to do. Coming back to her senses she, closed her eyes, and took a deep breath, and checked her shoe laces. They needed to tied tight, if she need to make a getaway. Excitement built up in her as she waited for the Halloween Game to start. She would be able to experience a creepypasta with her own eyes. Glancing to the doll at the road, she wondered if this was actually going to work. In all honestly, that doll meant nothing to her, she had gotten once when she was about 5 with another foster family, but dolls were never really her thing. Looking down at her phone, the numbers 11:58 shifted into the numbers 11:59 on October the 31st. She took a deep breath and exhaled. It was showtime.

She hit dial on her phone, and heard the sobs and cries of a woman. Remembering the instructions, she hung up the phone immediately. The phone turned off, leaving the screen black. She pressed on the power button and glanced at her lock screen. It was 12:00 on October 32nd. Her eyes widened slightly, It had worked, she didn't expect it to actually work. While she was still in a bit of disbelief, she heard the croaky and raspy voice. Luckily she was looking down at her shoes, but she still shut her eyes, just in case. The croaky and raspy asked,

"ₕₐᵥₑ yₒᵤ ₛₑₑₙ ₘy cₕᵢₗd?"

Collecting her composure, she spoke in a strong voice, but not yelling. "I saw them playing on the road." She let a breath she didn't know she was holding after saying that sentence. She just calmed herself and went over the information in her head that would maybe guide her on what to do next.

It was with a skeptical, deadpan look that William carefully placed the doll in the center of the empty street. It has been a bit awkward to have to buy an antiquity like that in that old store. The elderly lady at the counter looked so happy to have someone younger buy one of her fossils. No, seriously, how old WAS that doll...? Judging from the design, he wouldn't be surprised if his great-great-great grandmother had something like this...

Wait, now was not the time to theorize on this doll's birthday, he had more important things to do. Things like... wait 2 more minutes until making a phone call. William was used to talking to himself but calling his own phone number seemed to be on another level. And considering doing so would bring him into a live creepypasta, it wasn't too far off.

"Too bad it won't work~", he commented to himself as he took out his phone, slowly dialing his number. When it was time, he brought the device to his ear and waited. He didn't really realize until now, but... what if this whole thing was real? If so, it meant that he could have went too deep and lost his chance at backing out. This whole Halloween Game thing had no actual proof of being real so-

His train of thought was interrupted as he heard someone pick up. William immediately froze, pressing his lips in a thin line. A part of him wanted to say 'Hello?' in response to the heavy breathing he heard on the other side but quickly remembered the rules and hung up, all while maintaining the same expression. "Alright, so... this all MIGHT be real...", he muttered to himself. "I need just one more proof..." Lowering his phone, he looked at the date and clicked his tongue. "October 32, aight... And just like that, everything I believed may have crumbled down."

Feeling his phone vibrate, he lowered his eyes, noticing he was receiving a call. 'No, no, you have to ignore this one...', he told himself as he closed his eyes, digging through his mind to find the list of rules to get the game started. At this point, might as well go all the way, right?

"ₕₐᵥₑ yₒᵤ ₛₑₑₙ ₘy cₕᵢₗd?"

Yep, there it was... At least the steps were consistent. So... what was about this woman again? Oh, right. "I... saw them playing on the road.", he replied, a bit quieter than he would've liked. Well, no matter. What next...? She would find the doll... he could open his eyes again, at the condition of not looking at her face nor mentioning her neck... he would wait for the bus and get inside... Yeah, simple. Nothing could go wro- 'Stop, I am not gonna jinx myself like that.', he interrupted his own thought, shaking his head.

11 PM: Oakie and all his friends were talking about playing the Halloween game. 11:30 PM: some were reluctant about it and decided they would sit this adventure out. 11:45 PM: Oakie and some of his friends decide to walk to the nearest bus stop with a doll they had found in one of the rooms of the house the party was being held at. Even more dipped out at this point. 11:55: Oakner ended up being the only one at the bus stop, doll and cellphone in hand. He stood in the middle of the road with the doll placed as instructed and watched the time on the phone screen until it displayed 11:59. He quickly dialed his own number and put the phone to his ear, listening with a neutral expression.

The phone rang, and rang, and rang. Finally, it sounded as if someone had picked up on the other end. Sobbing played through the speaker, to which Oakner responded to by hanging up the call, suspecting this whole thing to be a prank. A phone number was easy to mask, after all. His phone then started buzzing once again. He quickly checked the screen to see it was an incoming call and not a conveniently timed storm alert before letting out a chuckle and closing his eyes. Were all of them in on this, he wondered? He had expected at least a select few of his friends to have been brave enough to do this stupid ritual with him.

"ₕₐᵥₑ yₒᵤ ₛₑₑₙ ₘy cₕᵢₗd?"

He jumped a bit at the sound of the voice. It certainly wasn't coming from his phone which was tucked away in his pocket. It was probably one of his friends, he assumed and decided to play along.

"I saw them playing on the road." That was what he was supposed to say, right? Yes, that was right. And this person who was speaking to him was supposed to be dressed like a bride. He was certain one of his friends had worn a bride costume to the party, at least if his inebriated memory was to be trusted. And the ritual said you weren't supposed to look at her face. A smirk came to Oakner's face. This urban legend was really convenient for those who were looking to play a prank, it seemed.

23:40| "Ayda coooming to you LIVE on Halloween at the most ominous… and random bus stop I could find!” she proclaimed to an invisible crowd, gradually raising her phone higher to provide the viewers a glimpse of a flickering bus stop behind her. Ayda maintained a watchful eye on the service, having had a difficult time finding a spot that held signal well enough. Her eyes drifted to the viewers, having already reached 750 and growing. This encouraged a large smile as she opened up the discussion about Lillian and the mysterious Halloween tapes that had ultimately led to her repeated disappearance - the fault of too much money and time - an easy hoax.

23:50| She tilted her head side to side for a moment, provoking her shoulder-length hair to flow over her face before sharply looking back into the camera, narrowing her eyes suddenly to continue, “Tonight will be one of a kind, the urban legend requested by all of you - to be finally brought to a halting stop, or perhaps we may be treated by Lillian herself .” She cooed with a wink, evidently building up the suspense, anticipating a short climax once the 60 seconds switched into November. “ With a little help of course from my trusted assistant, Jade!”she mocked, revealing a Bratz doll, it’s origin evident by its oversized head and eyes in contrast to the unnaturally thin waist, held up by Ayda’s fingers to appear as if standing on its own. With a soft twist of her forefinger, it’s head turned toward her, Ayda’s own head mirroring it as if they were conversing.

23:57| Following further discussion with viewers, numerous thank-yous to subscribers, she finally proceeded to walk out onto the open road, darkness in either direction fading in clarity, the center faintly illuminated only by the bus stop light when clouds managed to suppress the moonlight. “The time is nigh!!” she laughed, switching the camera from the front-face to back, allowing everyone to see through her own eyes when she gently placed the Bratz doll on the yellow line splitting down the road. “I am sure my sister will not be missing this long.” While the camera was not focused on Ayda, she took a moment to pull one of her sleeves up to reveal steps written by black marker on her arm.

23:59| “Drum roll everyone!” Ayda stated excitedly, the thrill brought goosebumps over her skin, internally unsure if it was due to nervous anticipation or impatience to reveal yet again a dud. She allowed silence for a moment as each number dialed emitted its own tone, leading to a sympathy as it rang once, believing it would bring her to the voicemail - one that she awaited for, having prepared it in advance to sound like breathing, which she would quickly correct to show how easily all of this was to mock. Therefore, when a heaving breathing and sobbing is heard, she bite her lower lip to prevent laughter, viewing everyone’s reaction for a brief moment. Finally, she hung up and switched the camera to view herself again, commencing into a conclusion speech as she returned to the bus stop laughing, having forgotten the doll during her gloating.

00:00 (October 32) | Ayda jumped as she was notified by an incoming call - her number as the caller. “Ok… what one of you viewers found my number?” She stated dumbfoundedly, suspecting one of her friends using a prank app. With a playful roll of her eyes, she almost pressed answer, but quickly recalled the step. With a sigh, wanting to give viewers the whole experience, she sat down on the bus stop, ignored the call and shut her eyes. “Oh no…” she sarcastically whispered, further words clotted in her throat as she heard a raspy voice, a potential prank of someone that overheard her? Even friends - to catch this culprit, she turned the camera to catch a glimpse in the direction the voice came from. Following which, she would point towards the road with her other hand. “I saw her… playing on the road” her voice cracked, feeling shivers down her spine.

She finally opened her eyes to look at her phone first. She gasped suddenly in great dismay… she was no longer broadcasting!!! All bars were now replaced with the words “no service”, however the tall robed form at the road quickly caught her attention, almost dropping the phone. “Wha- what kind of costume is that!” she whispered, hastily turning on her camera, at the least a great follow-up video to post. Her hands started to tremble as she struggled to look up, deciding to watch the deformed looking woman through the screen of her phone. On her arm she could read “wait for the bus”. Her legs never felt so heavy sitting on the bus stop bench, staring at the screen - its form looked more unhuman the longer she watched

Cigarette smoke drifting behind him, Oliver strode into the middle of the street. Smoke and his breath mixed with the fog, obscuring the bus station and increasing the sense of isolation. Chewing on the filter, he looked down at the doll in his hand. It was a cheap thing, just a few bits of plastic with a crudely painted face. Not as if this is going to work. It's not as if this is going to work. Why bother paying for anything good.

Flicking the butt aside, Oliver switched on the camera before setting the doll down on the cold tarmac. Watching through the camera, he waited for the time to come. Glancing down at his phone, Oliver began to dial his number, heart betting surprisingly fast. As the clock struck 11:59, he hit call and put the phone on loudspeaker.

The phone rang, its dull tone echoing through the mists—what a load of shit. Oliver smirked to himself. Then the phone clicked, and a faint sobbing filled the air. The smile slipped off his face. That's.... unexpected. Grimacing, he hung up and stared at the phone's face. October 32, 12:00 am. It seems whoever started this prank is better than I expected. Eyeing the nearest street light from the corner of his eye, Oliver waited for the call. As the phone began to vibrate, he slid it into his pocket, smiling. They do seem to have put some work into this.

Footsteps filled the air, and a mournful voice filled the air. "hAVE YoU seEn mY cHilD?" The camera zeroed on the sound of the voice, eyes tightly closed, he pointed. "Saw them playing in the street" As the sobbing faded and footsteps filled the air again, he did his best to track them with the camera, hoping the wide lense would be enough.

The voice's tone shifted, almost to relief. "ₐₕ... ₜₕₑᵣₑ yₒᵤ ₐᵣₑ, ₛwₑₑₜₕₑₐᵣₜ. Yₒᵤ ₛₕₒᵤₗd ₙₒₜ ₚₗₐy ₒₙ ₜₕₑ ᵣₒₐd, yₒᵤ cₒᵤₗd gₑₜ ₕᵢₜ..."

As soon as the bride's attention shifted away, it was as if the air regained some of its warmth. She withdrew and walked towards the road, the rustle of heavy fabric growing softer with each step. According to the instructions, it was now safe to look, so long as the bride's face was never peeked at. If you were so brave as to open your eyes, you would see the figure of a freakishly tall bride under the flickering glow of a streetlight.

The white of her dress was stained considerably and blackened at the hem from filth, but perhaps the most disturbing feature was the veil. At a quick glance, it looked as if she were towering in height, but at a closer look she was quite average in stature, save for her neck. It swayed slightly, so long that the veil, which should sit comfortably around her waist, now brushed the tips of her shoulders.

She picked up the doll with pale, bony fingers and began to stroke its head. For most of the players, this seemed to content her for the time being and she carried the doll over to the bus stop and sat down. She hummed a meandering, off-key melody and clutched the doll much too tightly. Some of the cheaper doll's faces began to bend inwards from the force, but the bride did not seem to notice much.

Emilia, William, and Oakie seemed to have been ignored by the bride for the time being. So long as her face is not looked at... perhaps they could even speak.

For Oliver and Isui, the bride stiffened as she turned back with the doll in her arms.

The bride snapped her head to the side with a crunch, as if broken, and tilted towards Isui's filming equipment and Oliver's camera. The recording began to glitch, the buttons of the camera pulsating and the flash (if present on the device) flickering.

"Dₒₙ'ₜ... ₗₒₒₖ ₐₜ ₘₑ..." she hissed.

With inhuman speed, she now stood in front of the device, her freakishly long fingers jabbed through the lens of the cameras. Smoke trailed up from them, with static pops. "ᵢₜ'ₛ bₐd ₗᵤcₖ."

She withdrew her hand, like a snake recoiling from a strike, then slowly wandered back to the bus stop and sat down, humming. Some of the glass shard still stuck out of her fingers as she lovingly played with the doll's hair.

Ayda's doll stood apart from the rest, with mature make up and a womanly figure. A rattling breath came from the bride, stirring her veil. "ₘy dₑₐᵣ... wₕₐₜ ₕₐᵥₑ yₒᵤ dₒₙₑ ₜₒ yₒᵤᵣ fₐcₑ? Yₒᵤ ₐᵣₑ ₜₒₒ yₒᵤₙg fₒᵣ ₘₐₖₑ₋ᵤₚ. Yₒᵤ wᵢₗₗ gₑₜ ₜₕₑ wᵣₒₙg ₐₜₜₑₙₜᵢₒₙ..."

Her head swivelled around before her body did, much like an owl, staring at a woman with similar make-up and a pretty face. The bride stood up quickly to her full height and approached. The live feed began to glitch, the viewer count randomly shifting between numbers until finally falling to 0 as the connection was cut.

"Wₐₛ ₜₕᵢₛ ₐ ⱼₒₖₑ... ₜₒ ₚₗₐy ₒₙ ₘy cₕᵢₗd? Dᵢd yₒᵤ ₚᵤₜ ₜₕᵢₛ ₘₐₖₑᵤₚ ₒₙ ₕₑᵣ?"

Oakner let out a breath once he felt the air warm up. How would his friends have been able to pull that off? He didn't feel any breeze, so it couldn't have been a fan or anything. Regardless, as the ritual dictated it was now safe for him to do so, the young man opened his eyes.

The sight of the bride caused him to blink. The wedding dress she wore looked very ornate. Hopefully his friends hadn't spent that much money on it with how tattered and sullied it now was. He noticed the extremely long neck the woman had and let out a small chuckle. The neck, and therefore head, had to be fake. There would be no reason to look at the bride's face in order to see which one of his friends it was. Guess he would keep playing along with the rules.

When the woman sat on the bench in the bus stop, clutching the doll she had picked up, Oakner made his way over and took a seat next to her. "How old is your child?" he asked with a small smirk, making sure to look straight ahead. "What's their name?" He wanted to see just how far his friends were willing to take this prank.

Her hand immediately clutched her chest, trying to find her heartbeat. She had held her breath when the bride had picked up the doll, there weren't any instructions for if the bride rejected the doll or something like that. But luckily for her, she didn't have to run fro her life, the bride had picked up the doll and Emilia heard the fabric of her dress rustle against the road, walking to the bus stop with the doll in her arms, stroking the hair on its head. She could look now, well she could technically, there was still a part of her that was too scared to look up, to scared to move. After about a minute of just standing still, her willpower took over, it made her body move in the direction of the bus stop. At that time, she saw what the bride looked like, and her first thought may have been a childish one. Holy crap, she was freakishly tall. She shook the thought and looked more closely at her, at first glance it seemed that she was wearing a black dress, but with further inspection, she was wearing a white and detailed wedding dress but it was dirtied with dust and dirt. Finally she took a seat at the bus stop, keeping the bride in her vision at all times, just in case.

Her eyes glanced over at the doll, it was bent. Poor doll, she thought, sure it didn't mean anything to her, hell it wasn't even a living thing, but it was still something that she had for a long time. Her ears caught the tune that the bride was humming, it was pretty off-key, it bothered her a bit. But it was better than taking the risk of using her phone and headphones to listen to her own music. For all that she knew, the sound it could emit would be so loud and era-piercing, that it would make her ears bleed, and she wanted to keep her ears for the moment. All she could so was wait now, the bus should be here soon, or at least she hoped.

Pursing his lips, William let the bride do her thing, unwilling to take any unnecessary risks. However, he recalled that it was now safe to open his eyes while he waited for the bus. As long as he didn't look at her face, right... Raising a hand in front of his eyes to block his line of sight, the boy opened his eyes and cast his gaze downward. Looks like he was clear for the time being. So far, the steps to the game proved themselves to be true so unless he did anything stupid, nothing bad would happen for now.

'I wonder what'll happen once I get on the bus...', William pondered, raising his other hand on his chin. 'Getting on the bus is where the steps end. All that's left is to 'play the game'... With everything that happened, I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up being taken to a ghost realm of sorts... Oh shit, am I actually already there? Maybe that's ghost me and the real me just dropped on the floor the moment I did the phone steps...' He had to consciously stop himself from mumbling or making noise; he didn't want the bride to address him at all.

Theories kept swarming inside his head as he finally got the time to think. People that have done the Halloween Game have never come back -for the most part, at least. Which meant that there was a definite possibility of dying. But if he didn't die...? He scrunched his brow as he recalled the stories. Money...? Was the reward money...? Well, he wouldn't spit on that, but... 'Urgh, what have I got myself into...?'

Ayda swayed forward and back on the tips of her toes while remaining seated on the cold bench, hunched over and repeatedly turning off and on the plane-mode in hopes to acquire better service. She groaned in frustration as the - no service- symbol appeared. “Well folks, you are in for a world of surprise when I post this for you in the morning!” she asserted in defeat to her now zero viewers, left only to her phone camera and the woman standing perplexingly tall on the road. With a soft grit of her teeth, Ayda stood suddenly, camera following as she inhaled sharply and pointed dramatically”. Scooby Doo time, Lil-”. Her widened smile distorted within the words, twisted into a shocked gasp as the woman’s neck turned far faster and further than any living body should in relation to one’s body.

The words that followed caught Ayda off guard, causing a soft twitch in the outstretched finger.

"Wₐₛ ₜₕᵢₛ ₐ ⱼₒₖₑ... ₜₒ ₚₗₐy ₒₙ ₘy cₕᵢₗd? Dᵢd yₒᵤ ₚᵤₜ ₜₕᵢₛ ₘₐₖₑᵤₚ ₒₙ ₕₑᵣ?"

Goosebumps ran up her arm and dove down the spine. With a dry gulp, allowing ignorance of the situation to guide a formulation of response, still not all sure if this were real or not. “It is Halloween! -” She coughed to clear her throat. “We simply wished to dress up as… as princesses?” She offered with widened eyes, slowly sitting back down. “Shit shit shit” she whispered under her breath, as she turned the camera to look upon her pale face, despite attempting to act calm and collected as if it were a poor performance on the woman’s part. She would turn the camera once more on the woman, wondering - no hoping a bus would appear as per instructions.

1637600457950.pngIsui felt his breath exit from his lungs, as he struggled to get it back. He had made an error of some sort? What did he not do right? It was only when the camera he bought with his meek savings was destroyed that it clicked. "of course the camera was a no-go, she hates being looked at clearly. How stupid am I?" he hissed out to himself lowly. Would everything still go the same? Or had he already screwed up his only chance of real, honest proof?

shakily he peaked at the crinkled paper clutched too tightly in his sweaty hands. Looks like things were still continuing as normal, hopefully, it would stay that way. letting out a breath as quietly as possible he softly walked over, sitting on the bench to the bus. His gaze sat perfectly on his lap as he sat rigidly. He breathed as little as possible, struggling to gasp in the air over the putrid scent of death.

for a moment through his fear Isui found himself smiling widely. The woman and her child sitting next to him were proof that this was real. This whole thing was real. He almost laughed in joy. This is it. He finally has proof! His destroyed camera had to have some form of footage even if it was destroyed. Even if it didn't he had plenty of time during this game to get more. He felt excitement run through his veins. Thankfully he found this abandoned road with an overgrown bus stop from some time in the past. So hopefully his camera would be fine where it was. He thanked himself silently for the camera still around his neck that he hadn't been using, so thus it was still intact. With giddy excitement he waited for the bus to show up, this was going to be great.

"ₕₑᵣ ₙₐₘₑ ᵢₛ Bₒₙₙy, ₐₙd ₛₕₑ ⱼᵤₛₜ ₜᵤᵣₙₑd ₇. ᵢₛₙ'ₜ ₛₕₑ bₑₐᵤₜᵢfᵤₗ?" The bride held up the doll to Oakner, twisted and bent from the sharp fingers digging into the fabric. "ₛₕₑ ᵢₛ ₛₒ ₑₓcᵢₜₑd fₒᵣ ₘy wₑddᵢₙg."

Seeing as none of the others talked to her, the bride was content to leave them to their thoughts and fears.

In the overwhelming silence of the street, the bride's off-key humming carried far, echoing among the trees or perhaps dark houses surrounding the lonely bus stop. The wind itself held its breath, stirring neither tree nor the hair of the brave players.

While it might be merely accounted as a trick of the eyes, the fog almost looked to be growing thicker, the shadows deeper, and the moon smaller. It made the edges of the streetlight's little pool of light look to almost... skitter away when the gaze was drawn to it. All but Isui did not find anything else beyond that. For him, he could sense the odd sensation that he was being watched. By whom, he could not say.

After what seemed like ages, a distant horn could be heard. It repeated in a steady, alternating pattern, growing louder and closer. A single misty headlight shone through the fog, drawing close at an impressive speed. Within 30 seconds it arrived, brakes screeching from rust and letting out a sharp hiss as it fell still. The door rattled open, but there was something distinctly missing. There was no bus driver, or any sort of passenger at all. The bus was completely empty.

Now that it was in the light of the bus station, it became noticeable just how rusted the vehicle was. It was clearly vintage in design, perhaps roughly the 80's, with faded paint and brown patches on its once blue exterior. Several windows were broken, some completely missing, and the tires sagged pitifully against the pavement. Once again, the bus honked loudly in its strange ryhtm. Strangely enough, there was no sound of an engine running.

The bride stayed where she was, holding up the doll to her veiled face and said, "ₗᵢₜₜₗₑ Bₒₙₙy, ₗₑₜ'ₛ gₒ ₕₒₘₑ..."

She did not follow the living onto the bus, but if they were to peek out the window at her as they sat down in their seat, they would see she had disappeared. A tiny petal remained where she had been seated, bright red and shaped like a tear drop.
    ⌘~

The bus rolled away, sinking into the heavy fog until the bus stop and any other building was lost. All that could be seen outside the window was an impossibly murky dark.

"Ah, yes..." Oakner said, looking at the now tattered doll in the bride's fingers. He made sure to keep his brown eyes fixated on the doll as opposed to anywhere on the bride's person. A little part of him was still superstitious and fearful. "Congratulations on the wedding! When is it?"

As he waited for a response, Oakner's eyes moved back to the road in front of him. He blinked, finding the air to have gotten foggier and the night sky to have gotten darker. Strange. He didn't remember this being in the forecast.

Sadly, it seemed as he wouldn't get to finish the conversation with the bride either, as a bus rolled in. It looked fairly old and decrepit, and its appearance was only complemented by the sound of rusted brakes pulling it to a stop and the rattling doors struggling to open. He blinked once again upon seeing the driver's seat empty.

At first he had thought the bus was just a coincident, or that maybe his friends made up the instructions to coincide with a late bus line. He might have even been able to dismiss the old, rundown model being used since he assumed no one would want to take a ride at this hour. But the fact that there was no bus driver... either his friends had gone above and beyond for the prank, or this was... no, there was no way this could be real, right?

"Er... sorry, this is me," he said to the bride before standing up. Only when he got closer to the model did he recognize the dilapidated tires and broken windows. This certainly had to be a part of the prank then. There was no way the city would let a bus in this state of disrepair run. How had his friends managed to pull this off, though?

Stepping on, the black-haired man made his way to one of the seats in the middle of the vehicle. He sat down, shifting in to be next to the window. He raised an eyebrow as he looked back out to the bus stop, noticing that the long-necked woman he was previously sitting with had vanished. All that was left was what looked to be a red petal.

Oakner wasn't sure how long the bus ride had lasted so far. Had it not been for the bumps and motion he felt on his seat, he wouldn't have even thought the bus was moving. Even stranger, every time he pulled out his phone, he noticed the time still read 12 AM. Eventually, the fog dissipated from outside the bus windows and barren trees started passing by.

How had his friends managed to do such an elaborate prank? They certainly could have hired a bus driver and rented an old bus, but the fact that there was no driver and his phone's clock seemed to have suddenly stopped working was much harder to explain. Some of them were in STEM. Perhaps they rigged the bus to be remote-controlled or something? And maybe one of them hacked his phone when he wasn't looking?

He didn't have much longer to think about it, as the bus soon arrived at what looked like an old manor. The two lamps at the gate were lit, while the gate itself was left wide open. The bus eventually came to a stop, opened its own doors as well, and then once again stared blaring its horn. Oakner took that as a cue to step off and turned around to watch it disappear. He made his way through the gates and passed the old garden and fountain to approach the building. He examined the large doors first, noting the house was indeed quite old as it only had knockers and no doorbell. He then noticed the sole window with light filtering through, opting to take a peek in for what surprise his friends had planned for him here.

Ayda's arm straightened in anguish, staring down in bewildered terror from the sight and lack-there-of putrid finger-tips that had buried within her arm leaving ragged gashes. Tears welled along the rims of her eyes, spilling over when she finally screamed, a melody to the shattering phone and unnaturally high-pitched screech of the unhappy Bride.

"ₘy dₐᵤgₕₜₑᵣ wᵢₗₗ ₙₒₜ... dᵣₑₛₛ ₗᵢₖₑ ₛₒₘₑ... bₐcₖₛₜᵣₑₑₜ ₕₐᵣₗₒₜ! ₕₒw... dₐᵣₑ yₒᵤ ₜₒᵤcₕ ₕₑᵣ! Yₒᵤ...wₕₒᵣₑ...!"

Before Ayda could plead in defense, silence paused the scene. Her injured arm fell limp, dripping blood to the pavement , the other hand instinctively gripping the Bride’s decaying arm as her toes levitated off the ground in the strangulation. Ayda squirmed in panic, looking upon the Bride gradually growing brighter from an oncoming light-source. Was this how she was going to die?!

The following moments skipped like snapshots, initiated by a loud horn - the sudden weight as her knees hit the ground upon release - looking up to witness the bus and hunched-over woman on the road, eyes widening in both relief and horror at the realization of what transpired. “Fuck…”

"NₒₒOOₒₒₒ!"

Adrenaline surged through Ayda from the glimpse of hope and certain slaughter if she failed to escape. In forced clarity, she lunged forward, stumbling towards the open bus door, slamming into it for balance before hurriedly crawling up the stairs like a wild animal. She almost tripped forward, hitting the lever before stumbling backwards down the aisle to the back. Ayda’s pounding heart and strained panting was the only sound on the motionless bus for seconds that felt like minutes. Did the door SHUT??!

She whimpered in desperation and painfully stood up to determine the location of her attacker. In perfect timing, as Ayda peaked out the back-door window, she watched in shock as the Bride’s focus changed to her.

"ᵢᵢₗₗ ₖᵢₗₗ yₒᵤ."

Ayda's forehead slammed on the window as the bus pulled off down the road.
___________________________________________________

Ayda blinked slowly a couple times as the horn announced its arrival once more, her reddened forehead remained squished against the window and eyes frozen - having been fixated on the same point the entire ride, even after the Bride faded away. Following a few moments pause staring at the empty bus-driver seat, as if in a dream, Ayda slowly stumbled off the bus towards the mansion gates. She could see a shadow of someone at the gate already. No words escaped her dry, cracked lips as she inched closer one foot at a time, her hair messily matted from the struggle.

William slightly jumped when he heard the horn in the distance. Right, right, the bus… right…? Remembering the bus being part of the process, the boy didn’t react much when the vehicle came close, lights piercing through the fog. Uncovering his eyes, he made sure the bride was nowhere in front of him before gazing at the vehicle. ‘No driver… yeah, not even surprised.’

Despite the obvious old age of the bus, William got up from his seat without missing a beat and approached it. ‘I guess the scary factor would go down if they used a bullet train, huh…’

Observing it for a few more moments, the boy shrugged off any lingering stress and got inside. “Well, whatever, might as well get this over with.”

Taking a seat near the back, William brought one knee up to his chin and tilted his head in order to see outside, taking note of everything he saw. His theory of being in a sort of ghost world seemed more plausible as time passed, considering the area looked nothing like the city he lived in. ‘Why am I mentally commenting on this…? That much is obvious.’ After chiding his own mental self, his attention went back outside, where a familiar manor made itself known. “Ahh, great…”, he mumbled. He let out a sigh when the bus stopped in front and loudly ‘told’ him to get off. “I know, I know, old bus gets replaced by scary manor, I know the drill.”

Getting off the vehicle, the boy shuddered -from cold or fear, he didn’t really know, and put his hands in his pockets. While he didn’t want to take a single step toward the manor, he knew he was there for a reason. ‘The game must be taking place in there… Or… games? I could see a lot of small games -one room per game! Yeah, that sounds about right. … Wait, I shouldn’t be happy about games. Pretty sure my life is in danger here.’ He perked up when he noticed two people aside from him waiting in front of the manor. Looks like others were as stupid as him and did the ritual. The… more the merrier, right…? “Uh, hey.”, he spoke once he approached the small group. His eyes briefly locked onto both other people, though he furrowed his brows after glancing at Ayda “Wait, hold up, are you okay…?”, he asked her when he noticed her bloodied sleeve. Did she mess up a step? From her posture, she certainly did seem a bit weakened… He wasn't going to pretend he was a doctor that could cure her wounds but he couldn't just casually ignore something like that.

1638798637161.pngAs Isui waited at the stop with giddy excitement he felt a cold shiver run down his back. He felt as if he was being watched. His shrugged it off for the moment, there is plenty of things that could be watching him right now, a human would be the biggest worry, and thankfully it didn't look like there would be another one here. If he was lucky, it would stay between him and the supernatural, they were far less of a threat than a human.

At the sound of horns Isui perked up again from his before thoughts, his excitement returning in full throttle. As the bus came to a stop before him. He gave the bride a bow before offering her a goodbye, making sure to keep his gaze directed to his feet to make sure to not upset her. The bus' condition did not bring any unease to him, just more excitement. Making sure he did not have the bride anywhere near the camera, he took a picture with his polaroid camera , pocketing the image in his pocket. He then quickly boarded the bus.

As he glanced out the window he noticed the missing bride. He quickly snapped another image, this time one of the petal on the bench. Now with a moment to himself he quickly labeled the pictures with a few words before pocketing them in his bag again. As the bus drove he glanced down at his watch repeatedly, noticing the time never changed.

As the bus pulled up to the house he instantly remembered he felt his lips purse. He shrugged of his thoughts and snapped an image of it. He then noticed the other humans that were with him. He swore in annoyance before letting out a sigh. He then lifted his camera and captured an image of them all before moving to take a snap shot of each one, not once asking anything about permission or the wellbeing of the others. It was up to them if they let him get through each picture.

A distant gaze casted over the expression of Ayda as a man, William, stood before her seemingly perplexed by her current circumstances. In his defence and in possiblity similar shock, Ayda was torn if this was indeed real or a dream. She swayed for a few moments in silence, left hand instinctively clenched over the clotting wound on her right arm, although little resistance to the determined blood that managed to ooze through the thin crevassais of her fingers.

“Wait, hold up, are you okay…?”

Words to her were distorted, similiar to speech underwater; Ayda stood bledding slowly out in a daze. Suddenly, her dampened awareness pivoted to sudden clarity upon the click from a manual camera, held by another 'arrival', Isui.

Ayda blinked and abruptly blurting out orders in desperation. " Help, someone tried to murder me!!" She asserted with a stumbling step forward toward William and Isui, the left hand outstretched, stained with dark blood and exposing the wounds on the other arm, shapes of finger-tips that had reached into her flesh like butter. Given the length of the bus ride and tramatizing encounter, the wound had been unattended to long enough to put her body into a confused state from loss of blood. She changed course to tug at the bottom of her dress, attempting to ripe a piece of fabric off in vain. If no action is taken fast enough, Ayda would simply fall flat onto the ground unconcious.

Akuri Takao

Akuri’s heart ached for the mother. How awful it must feel — stuck in limbo and in a never-ending search for someone you love. She wondered if the bride had to relive the agony of losing her child every time she realized the doll was just a doll.

Akuri prayed that she wouldn’t end up like her.

The bus jolted, sending Akuri flying from her seat until gravity yanked her back down with a hard thud. She groaned, wishing that she could yell at whatever was driving to slow down a little. How was this thing even working? There was no gentle thrum of the engine, yet it still groaned with every turn of its decrepit tires. It made no sense.

Akuri mentally scolded her own thoughts. Of course it wasn't supposed to make sense! The in-between lives by different rules than the ordinary world. Her mother used to explain it as a distorted reflection of reality, meant to comfort the dead throughout their eternality. She didn't know how any of this could be comforting to anything. Still, she'd have to shake her mindset to fit this new world. Souta was waiting for her, and she wasn't going to waste any time being confused.

'Just a couple of days -- weeks max,' Akuri assured herself, 'until you can take him home.'

It didn't matter if it had been a year. He had to be okay. He's a smart kid, much smarter than Akuri will probably ever be, and knows how to handle himself.

The bus door slammed open. Akuri patted her shoulder, giving herself a little boost of confidence before slinging her backpack on and getting off. She was instantly met with by the click of a camera and a shout about murder. Akuri wasn't quite sure where to look first, her body feeling like it had just been thrust into a busy carnival with no idea where it was supposed to go. Maybe she should've patted her shoulder an extra time...

No one moved much, especially not the boy in front of her who opted for documenting the screaming woman's misery. She supposed she wouldn't blame him. She thought about leaving her be too but figured all the noise was bound to attract some kind of negative attention.

She rushed to the white-haired woman, working together with her to rip off a strip from her dress. "Calm your breathing," Akuri instructed, then glanced over to the dude beside her with glasses [William], "Come on, help me keep her hand above her head." She began to wrap it around Ayda's wound. That was -- until she noticed the strange shape of the gashes.

Her breath caught in her throat. Whatever had tried killing this girl certainly was not human. The cuts were like holes, shaped like fingers that had jammed themselves into her flesh. She shot backward from her spot, muttering a small prayer, and left Ayda there with a half-wrapped 'bandage'. She would make no enemies with the spirits by aiding those they hate.

glassesboy.jpgA little snap made William raise an eyebrow as he briefly glanced to the side, noticing the other boy take a picture of everyone present. ‘Sure, just disregard the bleeding girl… Well, whatever.’ Getting caught in pictures, especially without being asked, wasn’t something William particularly liked (did anyone like that, though…?) but he’d deal with that later. Maybe. If he remembered to do so.

His quick analysis of the other boy completed, he turned his attention to the person who actually needed it. “H-Hey, take it easy, don’t move too much…!” William took a step forward in an attempt to support the wounded girl, lest she’d probably fall to the ground. He cringed a bit at the bloody gash in her arm but tried not to let it show. ‘Just a bit of blood… We all have blood so don’t think too much about it… Wait, did those come from the bride? Did she look at her face or something? Argh, fuckin’...! Stop thinking and help her already, dammit!’

William had unconsciously locked himself in his head for so long that he didn’t notice the arrival of another girl, who quickly took initiative and gave some instructions to the wounded girl and himself. “Uh, yeah, right, I got this.” Nodding, he lifted Ayda’s arm, slowly but surely, above her head. “There ya go…” He stayed unmoving while the other girl worked on tightening a bandage. At least some people were willing to help others…

And then she stepped away in sudden shock, the bandage not even completed.

“Fuckin’, really? Giving Akuri a look, William shifted his attention to Ayda once again and tried his best to finish tightening up the bandage while keeping her arm above her head. “Annnd… let’s say that looks good…”, he said after a few more moments. With this amazing medical work done, the bespectacled boy took a step back, though still staying close enough to assist in case Ayda fell on the ground or something. He gave another look to Isui and Akuri and let out a sigh. He didn’t feel like confronting them about this, it’d be too much of a hassle. Instead he stayed silent and alert in case other people would come by. He figured that if all 'players' were present, something noticeable would happen. Like a host randomly appearing and announcing the games. '... A creepy skeleton host would be pretty cool...'

Matthew Hines
(Entered game! Lost "Doll" from inventory. Phone battery now at 49%. Reads "October 32, 12:00 AM
")

It's time. Matthew steps out of the bus. He takes a sip of his coffee. It's still a good temperature. Hot, but not too hot. The rugged mansion loomed before him. And some... actual people? How interesting it is to see daredevils out here. Then again, maybe they were "called" too. Ever since that crazy sense of Deja Vu, Matthew thought it was only fitting to walk in the path that was enlightened to him. Call it a "gut feeling."
Enough on that, let's get meet some people! Oh wait, they are distressed on...
Aw man, it's only been a few minutes and someone's already hurt? Talk about shady.
Matthew runs up to the scene, coffee still in hand.

"Hey, is everything okay? Oh no..."
He can now see the blood on an unconscious girl. He shivers slightly. Not because of the blood, but rather of how they just met and how someone is already on the floor. It seemed this other guy has it taken care of though. Wouldn't hurt to check though.
"Hey, do you need me to get anything? I'm afraid I don't have anything on me other than my phone and some coffee, but is there anything else I can do to help out here?"

1642182540506.pngIsui managed to get through the images without much issue until he reached the last person, being the bleeding out girl. At the mention of her attempting to be murdered he looked at for a second before rolling his eyes, she didn't look like the type with a brain. The exact same type of person who liked to harm others to gain popularity. Isui felt his face form in disgusted look as he began to continue with taking the picture when she reached out towards him. Isui reacted instantly, flinching away, tripping over his feet and almost falling on his butt. The wounds on his body ached with his heart beat as his breath began to speed up. He couldn't forget what type of person she was, not someone he was safe with.

As the new person began to preform first aid he calmed himself down, she was unconscious for now, good for him, he wanted nothing to do with her. Shaking off his nerves he returned to the girl, snapping a picture of her now unconscious form, using his foot to move her when needed for a better face shot. He then began to turn to go and snap a picture of the two new people unless someone came forward to interrupt this as well.

1642340757638.png

Ayda’s shoulders slouched forward with weakened knees that were only moments away from collapsing; the frantic movements towards help and terrorized thoughts had only escalated the condition. She flinched in surprise as a newer arrival promptly assisted to tear off a strip of the dress, but gladly accepted the help. Ayda changed her attention to Akuri from William and Isui, both of whom appeared locked in their own occupied or tormented mind, one of which having stumbled to the ground in sight of her.

She attempted to clear her foggy mind, taking deep breaths as instructed by the reactive woman. Fortunately, she soon had the additional support of William to recover strength. Lifting her arm had relieved the pressure and slowed the loss of blood as her wound was dressed. “Thank yo-” She started to whisper until Akuri suddenly repulsed backwards much like the previous photographer boy in sight of her. The wound was noticeably disturbing and unnatural, almost having a more black tint - a sign of being marked or simply dried blood? - all speculations were up in the air at this point.

“Wha- What is wrong?! There is a murderous cult of sickos after us, not me” she yelled hoarsely, casting her gaze outstretched towards the woods. She looked to William and nodded with a thin smile in thanks as he finished bandaging her wounds, having found renewed strength to stand on her own. She noted that William didn’t speak much, likely lost in his own mind - but seemed to be the least likely or delayed one to abandon.

The word “coffee” caught her attention momentarily as she licked her dried lips but offered no request, turning toward the mansion while craddling her injured arm. She carefully slid her sleeve over the bandages, wishing to forget about the experience. Ayda would have disclosed more of the story, but from the current reactions already, and creditably similar encounter, she remained silent about it. “We need to go inside to get help or information, someone is home - unless you all wish to die out here.” She dryly stated, pointing out the one window with a light on. She narrowed her eyes at the towering building in the distance. These twisted tricksters were not going to get away with this; what story this will be for her followers - if only she had photos.
