“That sounds like an infinitely better plan than trying to get her to come along, seriously what is-“

Ymir stopped when Leo's words were cut short, hearing a gravelly thump followed by a groan and the drawn-out shink of metal.

Ah well. Ymir had done her best. She turned around, shoving her hands in her pockets as she watched the scene unfold, Leo drawing Sapphire's ire further before he finally acquiesced. The huntress sheathed her weapon and stalked out of sight. Ymir breathed out a sigh, rocking back on her heels. That could've gone worse.

"Well then, that went about half as well as I expected it would go." Leo stood, brushing himself off. "My hair is probably a mess now."

Ymir considered it, nodding along in contemplation before a brilliant idea occurred to her.

"Oh," she said, straightening with a grin. "Hold on, I'll fix it!" And waving her hands she summoned several small gusts to sweep away the remaining dirt. The disarrayed mess of strands was worse than before, but Ymir nodded her head, satisfied. "Much better."

"So what's the plan now? I don't think there is any other gold ranked guild member available. Want to just take a silver quest instead?"

"I suppose we'll have to," Ymir said, sighing as the continued on their way. They stepped into the guild hall soon enough, still without a decision. Silver didn't have quite as powerful enemies, but they were usually in places that she'd mapped out before. "Do you think there any good ones left-?"

"Hi!" Ymir blinked, turning at a voice that piped up behind them. She froze upon seeing the speaker. Hair like autumn leaves and bright, turquoise eyes, but wasn't what gave her pause-- "My name is Mazus. I'm new!"

CAT!

Ymir barely kept from screaming as she covered her mouth. They were half cat! Their tail swished behind them, fluffy and long as they waved clawed fingers at her and Leo. Cat cat cat cat-

"Ymir!" Ymir said, bouncing on her feet. "I'm Ymir. Oh my- aaaaah! You- you're a cat!" You're so fluffy! The air blustered around her as she leapt up, springing in a circle around Mazus. "Where are you from? Did you just join? Oh my gosh, I love your hat!"

It hardly seemed like she needed the questions answered, completely happy to continue rambling at incoherent pace-

"Ymir-" a vexed voice said. The mapmaker paused, glance askew. Azalea stood to the side with her hand over a pile of papers, the corners of them rustling under the stray winds. "Stop."

But... they're a cat! Her expression screamed 'how are you not freaking out?'. Nonetheless the winds died down as Ymir switched her attention to Mazus again, waiting with wide eyes as she covered half her face. Going on a quest seemed completely forgotten amidst her excitement.

Azalea sighed as she turned her attention from the two troublemakers, one of which who had returned looking a great deal worse for wear. Her gaze turned again to the strange woman who had entered. Though there was no end of different forms and appearances, Azalea hadn't seen their particular characteristics before, nor the ancient-looking tome they carried with them.

"I heard that someone around here has a scripting knowledge. The name is Ainu, or something like that and I need to find this person in particular. Would you inform me?"

"...Eiru?" Azalea said. Her eyes narrowed, considering the movement of their hand as they continued to write. "I do not disclose information on our members without good reason. For what purpose are you seeking them out?"

"Hmm..." Azalea glanced over as Elias finally seemed to make a decision. He had been deep in thought, but began to speak slowly in consideration. "I think I have something prepared in the kitchen that you may like, Ms. Azalea. If I may ask, do you like seafood? I have a new seafood dish that you may like as breakfast."

She had never had much outside fish, but it mattered little to her at this point. "Seafood would be fine, Elias, thank you."

"I suppose we'll have to, do you think there's any good ones left-?" Leonidas tapped the toe of his shoe on the floor as he thought for a moment. "Azalea did say she would have new quests up today. We can take a look, who knows, there might be an odd one in a location you haven't been before."

"Hi!" Leonidas turned around in sync with Ymir at the new voice calling out. "My name is Mazus. I'm new!" Leonidas heard Ymir inhale sharply and lightly shook his head, he knew what was coming next.

"Ymir! I'm Ymir. Oh my- aaaaah! You- you're a cat!" Leonidas temporarily stayed quiet as he observed the situation with a grin on his face. ''So it seems the new member is halfway a cat, not to forget she wears a great pointed hat. Ymir certainly seems very thrilled, about this new member, of our guild." He muttered to himself in a singsongy voice. "Where are you from? Did you just join? Oh my gosh, I love your hat!" As Ymir kept going on and on Leonidas was now just seconds away from fully bursting out laughing until another voice called out.

"Ymir-" Leonidas briefly turned to Azalea. Convenient that's she's here right now, we can ask her about a quest soon. "Stop."

Ymir seemed a bit perplexed but stopped manically bouncing around nonetheless. Leonidas took this opportunity to step forward. "Leonidas Hood. Also known as Leo. Also known as the greatest poet to ever grace this land," He started, unconsciously swiping his hand through his now completely messed up hair before shaking her hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you." He continued, wincing slightly as one of her clawed fingers dug into his skin a little too deep.

Having let go of her hand Leonidas briefly turned back to Ymir who looked to be in a daze. He scraped his throat before saying. "Ymir... Quest, remember? I see you've taken quite the liking to our new member so why don't we bring her along? If she's up for going on a quest immediately of course." He added, turning back to Mazus.

Minma Gate
Location: Guild Hall

Minma stood tall, patiently listening to what Azalea was informing him on. He gracefully took the items that were given to him as he gave Azalea his form. "I'll also ask that you have someone accompany you on your first few missions. It's a precaution we take with all new adventurers." A quick chuckle escaped his soft lips. "I suppose if I'm being asked by you yourself then I will. Although it's honestly not necessary."

The dwarf dragon let out a small hiss before running behind Minma. A smokey dog appeared to be delivering a message. Minma scuffed at the cowardly reaction to the dog by the dragon. A fire breathing mythical beast feared another creature? Although Minma didn't take in account the fact that the dragon was still infant. As the smokey animal departed another presence entered the room. Minma got the impression that the guy was part of the guild hence him giving a report to Azalea.

Just as Minma was about to ask Azalea who should he ask to accompany on his first mission, Azalea called out to someone who was walking nearby. He listened to every footstep as the man approached them. Azalea had kindly introduced Minma to Elias. "Oh, we have a new member? Welcome to the guild. The pots are warming as we speak, sit down for awhile and i'll get you both something nice." A slight smile made it's way onto Minma's face. Although his teeth never showed.
"Thanks for your welcome."

Minma and Elias now locked eyes. "It's a pleasure to meet you, sire. Please tell me if you like something you want prepared." Minma didn't realize it until just now but for his physique Elias had a deep voice. "It's a pleasure on my end as well. Anything you cook up will do for me." Minma then realized something, he know had a dwarf dragon to feed. He locked eyes once again with Elias, a look of embarrassment on his face. "And if it's not to much of a hassle could you throw in a slice of meat for my pet." He was surprised when he said it. He just called the dragon his pet. Doing so would save him the time of not having to share the story on how they meet.

Mazus Brownberry
A quest? Immediately? Yes! Mazus is quite interested if she does say so.

"Yes please!" She says as much after shaking Leo's hang and being verbally assaulted by Ymir.

"What's this quest? I've never been on one before. I'm not sure much help I'll be save for my potions," she makes sure to add so the two know what they're getting into with her.

She rifles through her bag and produces a glowing vial as proof. One of her most relied upon potions and fairly easy to make. She calls it her perk up potion. It's bitter but gives a couple hour wakeful boost through the day and helps combat sleepiness. She puts it back in her bag and sits on her haunches, curling her tail around her paws and mentally going through what she might need to pack depending on the quest.

"Ymir... Quest, remember? I see you've taken quite the liking to our new member so why don't we bring her along? If she's up for going on a quest immediately of course."

Ymir blinked, shaking her head as she glanced over at Leo. His grin way way too wide to be innocent, her eyes narrowing in suspicion. What did you do?

"What's this quest? I've never been on one before. I'm not sure much help I'll be save for my potions."
Mazus's words drew her attention once more, Ymir nodding along in growing contemplation.

"Potions work," she said. "I'm a scout myself--well, cartographer really." Her eyes glowed briefly as she grinned. "I can suss any dungeon. Secret tunnels and all." Usually she focused her attentions on expanding the map, but stuff like this was fun from time to time too.

"We haven't decided on a quest yet, but you're welcome to come along." With a party of non-combatants, they certainly wouldn't be taking on anything too ferocious. Ymir crossed her arms, finally settled into a semblance of responsibility. "Last I checked, the most interesting places were a jungle temple, the dark marsh, Umral desert, and a mysterious mine." The dark marsh was out of the question of course. It wasn't on the map and Ymir wasn't taking anyone below iron into such territory. "The mine is an iron rank search and rescue," she said. "It might be more suited to newer adventurers."

It wasn't uncommon for such places to uncover something disastrous within their depths. At least if it were anything too terrifying, they'd have the option of calling for help. "Unless there's anything else you two want to do."

"I suppose if I'm being asked by you yourself then I will. Although it's honestly not necessary."

Necessity wasn't the issue, though she was grateful he didn't try to argue the point like others did. "It's still early, so there are sure to be plenty of others to team up with," she said. Elias quickly took over on making them feel welcome, letting Azalea focus on the other newcomer who stood to her side, scribbling away in their enchanted tome.

"About that... What if i'm a new guild member?" Their hypothetical question had merit, but Azalea wasn't assured by them joining on such a whimsical reason.

"I'd still need to hear your reason." Regardless, she reached for a form to hand to them. "Eiru is currently out on a quest. I cannot predict when she will return."

"Yes please!" Leonidas smiled at Mazus and chuckled as Ymir narrowed her eyes at him. "What are you looking at me like that for? I promise I only have the purest of intentions." He said, throwing up his hands in fake surrender.

"What's this quest? I've never been on one before. I'm not sure much help I'll be save for my potions." Leonidas waited until after Ymir had responded before answering himself. "Potions huh? Interesting, you happen to have a potion that works against hunger? I still haven't had the chance to grab breakfast." He remarked with a smile. "I wouldn't worry about your combat strength," He started, shaking his head. "As Ymir said, she's more of a cartographer and I'm someone of the support variety myself. My combat strength isn't too low but it's only really of use against humans or humanoid monsters and we see those rarely." He concluded in a rare sentence without a single joke.

"We haven't decided on a quest yet, but you're welcome to come along." Leonidas slightly zoned out as Ymir listed all the different places they had the option of going at the moment, playing with a loose strand of fibre on his glove to pass the time. "It might be more suited to newer adventurers." Leonidas tuned back into the conversation as Ymir said that, looking up and tapping his foot on the floor at an odd rhythm in thought.

"Unless there's anything else you two want to do." "Well I would like to eat breakfast but last time I checked the guild didn't pay people for that," He said, eyes darting over to Azalea as if he hoped she would tell him the guild did in fact pay people for sitting on their ass and eating breakfast. "I'm fine with any location, it would be ideal if the monsters there are at least intelligent enough to be affected by my poetry though."

Zeno Ori

As the adventures int he guild hall were happening, someone walking in, with a white and yellow cloak. Zeno. The lighting "assassin" simply look a look over at the newest mission. Damn. their wasn't any Gold-Ranked mission easy enough for him to solo, most of them needing a company. Sighing, he decided to have a look-see at the silver mission. Before he could do that however, something caught his eye......

Walking over to Ymir, Leonindas, and Mazus, he took a look over at them, before speaking.

"So..... looking for a quest?"

He looking over them carefully, even letting Ymir's eyes- which might have not been the smart thing to do, since he had sent a lighting dagger at here, but the present in the present and focus on it, right?

"If you would like, I can join you..."

Looking over the mission on the wall, he told them

"The Icewall Moutain might be for the better, since its only a iron rank. But perhaps the Jungle Temple would work, if we could find a few companions?

"Uh... I need someone who can read this gibberish." Azalea regarded the object held before her with faint concern. "Someone, or something jinxed it. I dont know when, who... or even what, but, however, that is one of the most dangerous corruptive magic spell i've seen. I need to get rid of it..."

It was certainly something Eiru specialised in. The marks that appeared floating on the surface of the tome were incomprehensible to Azalea. Enchantments made as much sense as tea dregs as far as she was concerned. Bringing a hand to her mouth, she was dragged out of considering options by Themistro's words, though they weren't addressed at her.

"If you want, I can tag along." They faced the impromptu group Ymir and Leo had dragged Mazus into--the unfortunate sphinx seemed unaware of the chaos that followed those two like flies did meat. But that was their problem--

"A-hem," Azalea said, pointedly clearing her throat. She fixed Themisto with a stern look. "You won't be 'tagging along' with anything until you finish your registration." She'd already slipped up once and let Eiru sneak Voland out on a mission. "For now you're with me."

"Well I would like to eat breakfast but last time I checked the guild didn't pay people for that."

Sensing Leo's beseeching gaze, she remarked off-hand as she passed by. "You're welcome to have me take it out of your next commission." She gestured for Themisto follow her, Zeno's appearance seeming to round off the group anyway. She led the new member to one of the tables and set the form down in front of them.

"Elias will return from the kitchen's soon. He'll be the one carrying food. you may ask him to make something if you so wish, otherwise I will be back in a moment." Leaving Themisto to fill in their details she stepped out back to gather the items they needed. She would return soon enough, if Elias didn't approach the new member first.

"What are you looking at me like that for? I promise I only have the purest of intentions."

Sure. And Ymir was a paragon of lawful purity. "Potions huh? Interesting, you happen to have a potion that works against hunger? I still haven't had the chance to grab breakfast."

"Hm? Why don't you get breakfast then?" Ymir offered her own, innocent grin. "No like anyone's stopping you."

"So..... looking for a quest?" She froze at the familiar voice. A buffer of wind followed her as she stepped away, hands raised on instinct. "If you would like, I can join you..."

She lowered her arms, eyes suspicious as he continued. "The Icewall Moutain might be for the better, since its only a iron rank. But perhaps the Jungle Temple would work, if we could find a few companions."

"Four should be fine..." she said. "Maybe five." Icewall is that hunting mission...

"I'm fine with any location, it would be ideal if the monsters there are at least intelligent enough to be affected by my poetry though." Ymir had missed most else of what he said, but it was another good point. Leo had a very helpful set of skills for the right sort of quest.

"Icewall mountain could work then," she said. "If the enemy has a title like 'Loraie the Fell' they're probably intelligent enough to comprehend language." What exactly 'Loraie' was remained unknown, but with a gold rank member it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

The new members have made their presence known to Elias and he has kept another note for the new face on the guild. In closing, he simply gave them a proper smile in respect of Lynx. His cup was already empty and they suggested a meal for the dragon also. He nods in agreement.

"Your request will not be denied, sir. Please! Right, this way."

Before breaking eye contact with Lynx. He has wondered a thought that returned to him months ago. This is no time to waste in such thoughts as time for breakfast ticks on. His unchanging gaze returned to Azalea and the other member after hearing the confirmation of having seafood. With a content glee on his face, he turned around and ushered the young man and his dragon to the dining tables. The women were out of his reach so he can only guide Lynx with his hand on his shoulder. Although he did not push them out of position as his hand simply slipped of Lynx's shoulder.

"I shall prepare the meals right this way."

With the option of taking any vacant table. He lets the adventurers choose their tables and chairs. Elias walked over towards the twin kitchen door, a small could of steam and smoke escaped the moment he opened the left door, the sounds of sizzling meat and clanging pots and pans were briefly heard before closing.

Moments later...

The right door opens slowly, revealing the cook from the steam, now with meal trays occupying both of his hands some on his arms. It seems the usual is on the menu. The meal was obviously fresh out of the pan. He hurried over to the nearest table occupied by another familiar face in the Guild, Sapphire, the natural-born huntress. Not in the best morning mood but nothing out of the ordinary for Elias. Laying down the tray from his left-hand tray slid onto the table without spill its content.

"Good morning ma'am. I am sorry for the wait... Please tell me if there is anything else I can get you."

After serving the ranger, he left with a service smile. Proceeding to serve the other tables to reduce the food on his arms. The meals served before her are of the following: One bowl of oats, Three slices of toasted bread with two fried sunny side eggs, combined with 4 slices of bacon strips, one mugful of warm milk, and a single apple wrapped in banana leaves in case of a takeout. This order is identical to the other ones he has. He then served Lynx the same meal but with the special addition of a piece of fresh raw porkchop cut served on a plate.

"This one is for you and for the little sky glider. Please tell me if there is anything else I can get you."

He left with a slight chuckle. Reaching Azalea's table along with another member to serve the remaining food on his hands. He both served the same meals to, his service smile morphed into a bashful expression. Announcing the delay of the special order.

"Here is for you aaaaaand... For you. Please tell me if there is anything else I can get you two."

"Oh, apologies for the seafood, madam. The men back there told me that it isn't ready yet... They did not tell me the reason why as they easily rushed me to take the food. They are pretty hardworking don't you think?"

Despite Elias's disregard for the fact that he is straight up being lied toby the kitchen staff. He seems to be flamboyant of the whole situation. The man stood by, awaiting Azalea's answer.

"You're welcome to have me take it out of your next commission." Leonidas shook his head. "No thanks. Money wasn't really the problem I had to begin with." He mumbled to himself.

"Hm? Why don't you get breakfast then?" He should have seen this coming, there was no way he could get away with acting smug towards Ymir without her paying him back. "Not like anyone's stopping you." She said, a seemingly innocent grin on her face. "So you say," Leonidas started with a sigh. "But I'm willing to bet the moment I turn around to grab some breakfast I'm getting kicked in the back of the knee and dragged off to some ungodly place or other without food."

"If you would like, I can join you..." Leonidas raised an eyebrow at Ymir's extreme reaction as he stayed silent for a moment. Realizing that Ymir wasn't going to elaborate on her reaction he focused his attention on Zeno. "You're welcome to come along, with 4 people, clearing an iron ranked quest should be child's play." He paused briefly before continuing. "Although, are you sure this is going to be alright?" He finally asked, pointing his finger between Zeno and Ymir.

"Icewall mountain could work then," Ymir carried on, Leonidas figured that if she was going to elaborate she would do so later or leave it up to Zeno. "If the enemy has a title like 'Loraie the Fell' they're probably intelligent enough to comprehend language." Leonidas nodded. "Icewall mountain it is then. If we're all okay with the team formation and quest choice then let's go and see how Loraie the Fell deals with air, poetry, potions and lightning." He declared, snapping his fingers.

The ranger calmed herself down and sat down at the opposite corner of the room from Leo, one, for her own sanity and two, so she wouldn't cause a mess in the guild. That would not show well. "Thank you," she said in a quiet voice, trying to be as calm as possible. To anyone it would be visible that she wants to be left alone, as she took the meal. She quietly observed the guild and how the morning proceeded. There was a new lady, a.... cat by the looks of things. Not the strangest thing I've seen.

She munched quietly on her food, calming herself down eventually.

Klein stepped into the guild hall, cane in hand. Adjusting his golden trimmed glasses he observed the situation for a moment before stepping forward, greeting everyone inside with a small and polite nod. Fixing his gaze on the person he was looking for he made his way across the hall.

"Azalea," He bowed slightly before continuing. "It looks like a lot has happened in the week I was absent. I see quite a few new faces."

His eyes shifted to an open newspaper on a table nearby. "I see news travels fast, I was made aware of the ambassador's death myself yesterday. Stabbed to death in his home office, and by his own secretary no less, a tragic story really." He remarked, the faintest ghost of a smile on his lips.

He focused on Azalea again. "Nevermind that though, I thought I would come find you to make you aware of my return as well as to ask if you are in need of any assistance." He said, tapping his cane on the floor a few times. "Any quests that need immediate taking care of perhaps? I can take some new people along if need be."

"Or perhaps there is something else that requires attention? As long as it is within my ability I will do my best to assist."
He finished, pushing up his glasses again while waiting for an answer.

"So you say," Leonidas sighed. "But I'm willing to bet the moment I turn around to grab some breakfast I'm getting kicked in the back of the knee and dragged off to some ungodly place or other without food."

Ymir gasped, her expression falling to one of pity. "Oh Leo, I'm sorry you can't trust your fellow guild members. How horrible to think anyone here could be so cruel..." She shook her head, wiping away faux tears as--

"You're welcome to come along, with four people, clearing an iron ranked quest should be child's play."

Oh come on. He wasn't even listening! Ymir huffed as Leo pointed a finger between her and the assassin. "Although, are you sure this is going to be alright?"

"He can throw all the daggers he wants," she said. "See if I care." She definitely wouldn't. For sure. No way. Not even a flinch! Yes perhaps the rabbit mission had been somewhat low-ranking. Did she deserve having an electric dagger thrown at her for it? No! Not when she was a paragon of kindness in all forms--

The quiet opening of the guild doors gave her pause. Ymir glanced over, her expression dropping the moment she saw who strolled through. Another noble who had, no doubt by twist of fate, ended up in the guild with the rest of the commoners. Klein.

"Icewall mountain it is then. If we're all okay with the team formation and quest choice then let's go and see how Loraie the Fell deals with air, poetry, potions and lightning."

It seemed like as good a time as any. Ideal, in fact. Ymir pulled out the waystone and her map, turning to the rest of the group with final words before she disappeared in a flash of light. "That's that then. We'll rendezvous at the trading outpost here." She tapped a point on the map, settled atop the bridging section between two mountains. "If you need anything from the guild make it quick. I expect we'll meet within the hour to depart."

She expected Mazus would ask one of the other two for assistance on anything she was uncertain of. In the meantime, Ymir intended to see just what sort of landscape they were getting themselves into.

Elias returned with the food just as the Icewall group began to disappear, and Azalea was making her way back to the group, glancing down at the filled form Themisto had on the table. The letters were engraved in a strange sort way--not ink, though it seemed acceptable nonetheless. Taking the form Azalea handed Themisto her starter items in return, the bag of holding with a waystone and the guild map inside, and by the time she finished her explanation Elias seemed to have finished serving the members their respective meals.

"Oh, apologies for the seafood, madam. The men back there told me that it isn't ready yet... They did not tell me the reason why as they easily rushed me to take the food. They are pretty hardworking don't you think?"

Azalea blinked, the shadow of a frown crossing her features. When things were rushed it never ended well. Sure, in a kitchen time was of the essence, but they had herded out on of the chefs--was there something they didn't want him in there for?

She didn't have time to think further on it. The doors to the guild opened to reveal a familiar face.

"Azalea." Klein bowed, as gracious as ever in his actions. "It looks like a lot has happened in the week I was absent. I see quite a few new faces." His gaze strayed to something on the counter--the newsletter she'd taken as proof of his work. Azalea's attention returned to him as he continued. "I see news travels fast, I was made aware of the ambassador's death myself yesterday. Stabbed to death in his home office, and by his own secretary no less, a tragic story really."

Scary how he could say that with a smile. Azalea withheld a sigh, frowning at Klein's placid expression. She had his reward for the mission processed, but that wasn't something she'd be bringing up in normal company. "Nevermind that though," he said, seeming to set the issue aside. "I thought I would come find you to make you aware of my return as well as to ask if you are in need of any assistance. Any quests that need immediate taking care of perhaps? I can take some new people along if need be."

"Of course," she said. Business like always. "As per usual there are no end of urgent requests, but taking some of the newer members on one would be much appreciated." She stepped aside to gesture at the figures as they dug into their meals. "This is Lynx and Themisto, our newest members." In Klein's hands she knew they'd be well informed of the workings of quests. Her work, meanwhile, would continue in the stacks of papers piled upon her desk, which only seemed to grow with the passing days.

Azalea would have said something further, but an alarming crash sounded from behind the kitchen doors, followed by several rounds of shouting. Her head whipped around, branches straightening in alarm.

"Elias-" she said, though she needn't have bothered. He was already moving to the back of the counter, empty platters in hand as if they were shield in war. Azalea pinched the bridge of her nose, fighting against the instinct to find out the issue for herself. Elias was more than capable. "But just what have they cooked up this time?

It was obvious with one glance to the royals that Eiru was no longer playing games. "Runaway like that again and you will both be punished. Forget about a mere set back in rank you will both be heavily sanctioned going forward.".

Moving to take the ferret that had followed behind her into her hand Eiru continued to pet the creature, once again feeding it mana. With it's summoner/master held captive there was no telling when the poor thing would run out of such. Continuing with her speech Eiru's voice was indisputably dire and her gaze stone cold. "This area is far more dangerous than originally disclosed. In fact, the inner region of this forest is at least gold rank territory. I assume neither of you has any stealth orientated skills, if not then this mission could very well be your hardest to date and retreat a valid option. The area is infested to an irregularly high degree of undead and said undead are being controlled by what could only be a gold level or above threat with the above being the more likely of the two. The commander of the fort seemed to think that it was reasonable to assign a silver ranking to a rescue mission like this due to the fact you could sneak in and out but she would be very wrong if this undead mass shares a hive mind."

Turning to face the direction of the inner forest Eiru looked to Zion and then again to the inner forest "Zion and I will continue the mission and either save or kill the hostages depending on the situation that arises. You two are not required to accompany us anymore due to the high risk involved, your map will fail you, your waystone will not function and any enchanted gear will falter. However, if you do wish to follow us into this mess then I will need to know what magics you both wield. And I and Zion will need you to be compliant with our orders. Any attempt to break off as you did before will not be tolerated. As the highest-ranking member of this group, my orders are absolute going forward. Am I understood?"

Turning her gaze to Tyronn Eiru repeated "AM I UNDERSTOOD".

"Accompany us if you wish, Just ensure the witch holds her tongue, lest she attract half the peninsula with her constant natter."

Zion would've side-eyed the witch in question if he had any eyes in the first place. He didn't mind her rambles if they were relevant AND in telepathy only. The princeling had a point though; the undead may not have ears, but their hearing is surprisingly impeccable. He's one to talk. Apart from that, there were still unknown dangers out in this dying wasteland.

To nobody's surprise, and to Tyron's utter dismay, Eiru piped up to scold the two nobles whilst taking hold of one of the familiars. He found himself facing the horizon, gaze finding the unnaturally shrouded sky more interesting than disconcerting, as he waited for the enchantress to stop her bout. She spoke the words that he had wanted to say but could not exactly condense quickly, as thoughtspeak was a uncomfortable form of communication for both the nobles. However the way she said it was...hardly delicate.

Zion lowered his head to the ground, his shoulders sagging a minuscle amount. Did she really have to drag Angora again? He wouldn't want Eiru to have a grudge against him, he supposed. The undead battlemage probably wouldn't hear the end of it.

Eiru was correct about discussing their combat prowess and magic at hand, so they could work as the closest thing to the definition of "team".

'Hope to save than kill. There's too much death around here already, how can you keep encouraging it?' Zion mused to himself about how casually Eiru remarked about what he and she would do with the scouts in distress.

In all honesty, he originally thought himself as a cookie cutout of a common mercenary; do the job, get paid, who cares about the other optional boxes to tick? Though he lacked concrete memories to recall of who he was, he noticed that he he had an odd penchant for being so dutiful -- probably had been to the living, but now? Also to those deceased. When there were lulls in his meditation, Zion traipsed into the who he had been as a living creature. But he never got so far as to decide if he had been "good" or "bad"; those terms were subjective after all.

Perhaps he didn't mind the result, whatever it may have been.

Armoured pieces clacked against each other as the undead adventurer finally decided to move himself after standing ominously still during Eiru's speech.
'I'm sure he got the idea, missus Eagna. We're already wasting...' Zion tilted his head, 'Well, whatever daylight counts in this cursed region. Time to press on.' He thoughtspoke to Eiru as he plucked the resting ferret from her arms.

He let the animal writhe within in his gauntlets before he chucked it forward. The familiar uttered a screech before scrabbling around on the dirt, paused to stand on it's hind legs to squint it's beady eyes at the heavily covered adventurer. Zion made a shoo-ing motion and the other ferret that had been sniffing around Kira's shoes, quickly scampered to join it's companion, hoping to not get the same treatment.

'Onwards.' The word echoed within the nobles heads and in Eiru's. But it was faint, not the usual strong frequency as it was if he was speaking to each individually. It's hard to do mass telepathy, especially if he was never a mind user in the first place. Came with the undead package.

Zion pushed apart the brush that was in his way, and followed after the ferrets; head faced dead-on to the destination they were to go.

Klein gave a slight nod to Azalea before he turned around and walked over to the table she had pointed him towards, stopping at the quest board on his way there. He let his eyes glide over the board until he settled on a particular quest. Interesting, although this might be a bit ambitious if I'm taking along two new members, I'll have to inspect them.

Having arrived at the table Azalea had pointed him to Klein found that one of the two new members had fallen asleep. No matter, I'll observe the other one first. He turned his attention to the one Azalea had called Lynx. Decently young, relaxed posture but eyes that exude confidence, this one has most likely killed before. Not to mention that rather curious companion of his. Klein raised his eyebrow as he observed the small dragon. I wonder if it has sufficient mental strength to resist me controlling it. He quickly pushed the thought away as he focused on the other member currently sleeping on the table. Once again decently young, I can't say much about the way she carries herself if she's asleep but her appearance seems that of a somewhat seasoned adventurer. These two will probably do.

After observing the two members Klein cleared his throat loudly, catching the attention of the man immediately and also waking up the woman. He bowed slightly as he introduced himself. "It is a pleasure to meet the both of you, I'm Klein Eshwald, gold-ranked adventurer. I have been asked to take the both of you on a quest." He said, tapping his cane on the ground lightly.

"Now then, I'll get right into it. I'm planning on picking 'Undead Forces' as the quest I will go on next." He adjusted his glasses and politely smiled. "It is not exactly common to take two copper-ranked adventurers on a gold quest and it will undoubtedly be a long and dangerous adventure. You are free to refuse if you feel you aren't up to the task"

"I'll make it clear that if you are to accept my offer, I will not be your bodyguard. I'll keep you two alive to the best of my abilities but I will, under no circumstance, endanger my own life to save one of yours." He stated, observing the reactions of the two new members before him.

"That is all I will say for now, I'll give the two of you some time to think. If you wish to accept, come find me, I'll be in the guild hall for the remainder of the day. Once again, you are free to refuse, it will be dangerous." With that, Klein nodded to the both of them and walked over to a table across the hall. Sitting down he picked up the newspaper he had looked at earlier and started reading.

"Runaway like that again and you will both be punished. Forget about a mere set back in rank you will both be heavily sanctioned going forward."

This is a pain. Tyron regretted agreeing to go along with Zion at all. Doing the mission by himself would've been easier.

"This area is far more dangerous than originally disclosed. In fact, the inner region of this forest is at least gold rank territory. I assume neither of you has any stealth orientated skills, if not then this mission could very well be your hardest to date and retreat a valid option."

Funny, coming from someone who had announced at the start of the mission that anyone returning to the guildhall would be 'failure'. Such revocations seemed a tiresome habit of the arcane house. Declaring one theory only to denounce it days later, sowing the seeds of controversy wherever they went.

"The area is infested to an irregularly high degree of undead and said undead are being controlled by what could only be a gold level or above threat with the above being the more likely of the two. The commander of the fort seemed to think that it was reasonable to assign a silver ranking to a rescue mission like this due to the fact you could sneak in and out but she would be very wrong if this undead mass shares a hive mind."

And which commander was this? He wouldn't deny it was a mystery how some of the guard leaders passed the bar exam in the first place, but the witch seemed awfully good at making assumptions.

"Zion and I will continue the mission and either save or kill the hostages depending on the situation that arises. You two are not required to accompany us anymore due to the high risk involved."

Great, I'll be going ahead then. That would solve their problems. He wouldn't have to put up with her--and she with him. Tyron didn't care much what Kira did. Perhaps it would be better for her to stick with the more seasoned adventurers.

"Your map will fail you, your waystone will not function and any enchanted gear will falter. However, if you do wish to follow us into this mess then I will need to know what magics you both wield. And I and Zion will need you to be compliant with our orders. Any attempt to break off as you did before will not be tolerated. As the highest-ranking member of this group, my orders are absolute going forward. Am I understood?"

Oh? So that broom of yours won't be much help. The thought was viciously satisfying, although it left the issue of the waystone. The map not so much--since they had the ferrets. It meant they'd be stuck having to break the prisoners out though, rather than make an easy exit via waystone. That, more than anything, would make having a group necessary. He had his doubts acting under someone who had promised at the start to be an observer only. Nonetheless, he remained quiet. Eyes narrow as he considered the options moving forward--

"AM I UNDERSTOOD?"

He was jolted from that by the piercing yell. His hand fell to his sword and he half-spun to their surroundings, surveying the ashen wastes with tense shoulders. There were no telling what things were around and- seriously. He scowled, clicking his tongue. Loud enough to wake the dead.

"Right,"
Tyron said, straightening as he turned back to the witch. "Unfortunately, I missed most of that. My sound magic lets me block out voices I don't like you see."

With some exceptions albeit. Communication that didn't rely on sound wasn't affected, vexingly enough.

'Onwards.'

Sure enough, the now familiar voice echoed in his mind, a distinct note of exhaustion Tyron found was... hells- he was going mad if he found the moth-eaten mercenary relatable. Yet, he was beginning to appreciate their curt nature, watching as they chucked the ferrets forwards and motioned to continue searching.

"If you're going to be the 'commander' then I think I'll withdraw from the mission," he said to Eiru, though his dismissive snort immediately chased away any relief the statement might have brought. "It will easier taking down the outpost without you attracting every abomination in a two field radius anyway."

With that he turned in the direction the ferrets were facing and ducked under a different branch to Zion. He would be leaving the three of them a wide berth, he decided, regardless if they were pursuing the same destination. The witch could write a scathing an assessment or whatever she so pleased. It was clear at this point what she thought of him and his house anyway.

With Ymir having already left and her expectation to meet within the next hour being fairly easy to meet, Leonidas was convinced there was now nothing standing in between him and finally having breakfast. For a moment he thought about staying behind to make sure Mazus wouldn't have trouble figuring out how the waystone worked but he figured that Zeno would be able to help her with it if she didn't fully understand, after all, he was a gold-ranked adventurer, wasn't he?

Turning away from his 2 now teammates he was about to open the kitchen door and request some food when a loud crash sounded from within the kitchen. Leonidas opened the kitchen door and took a look at the situation inside before closing the door again, pinching his nose and walking straight towards the exit. "Nope, nope, I am not dealing with that, good luck, goodbye, see you later, until we meet again." He exclaimed loudly as he walked through the guild hall and shut the main door behind him. "Why? God why? All I wanted was some breakfast." Leonidas mumbled as he walked down the guild path, determined to get his breakfast even if he had to run back to the city for it.

Roughly 50 minutes later Leonidas arrived at the trading outpost exhausted, sweating and with his hair yet a bigger mess than before, but most importantly, he had finally managed to eat breakfast. After resting against the wall of the trading post for a little bit to catch his breath he pushed himself back to his feet and went off looking for his teammates.

He found Ymir just outside of the outpost observing the terrain, he approached her and put his hand on her shoulder in a half-hearted attempt to scare her. "Hey, are the others not here yet?" He asked, still slightly out of breath. He turned to the mountain and quietly recited a line of poetry. "We find ourselves before a mountain quite grand, whatever will we find within this here wasteland."

Minma placed his right fist into the palm of his straight left hand and bowed at Elias. "Thank you for the food." And with that he ate impatiently. The food was some of the best he had ever tasted if not the best. Something out of a fairy tale. Picking up the raw piece of meat he tossed it to the dragon who viscously tore at it. Minma's plate was now clear as if nothing was ever on it. He lightly pushed the dish towards the middle of the table before wiping his mouth with a white napkin.

Minma sat in the chair for a few moments to collect his thoughts. He picked up on someone observing him but paid it no mind. A man clearing his throat caught his attention, then the man made his way towards the two. In response to Klein's bow, Minma gave one of his own. He listened contently to Klein as he spoke about an offer to go on a mission. Minma gave no sign of acceptance. He had to bite his tounge a few times when his pride was struck. He felt doing so was the best thing for now since he had no power. And plus the guy infront of him must have been someone worthy of note hence them being able to take on gold missions.

Themisto spoke to which Minma ignored. He rolled his neck before standing from his seat. Pushing his chair back into the table he looked at Klein who was now reading the newspaper. He adjusted his shirt before making his way over to Klein. Once in his presence he pulled a chair adjacent to Klein out and took a seat. "My apologies for interrupting your reading. I've come to inform you that I'm prepared to go on this quest, no amount of thinking would change my answer." He raised his hand and placed it on the table and began to lightly tap not creating any noise. "I don't expect anyone to give thier life for mine. As you shouldn't expect the same from me. But I too will ensure your safety to the best of my ability. If it's not an issue I ask we go on this quest as soon as possible. I've been itching to do something."

The state of the kitchen was beginning to become a concern. Azalea winced at the steady stream of thumps and crashes and bangs leaking out the door, as if the pots and pans had started a terribly off-tune band and were in the midst of a rehearsal. She watched as Leo approached cautiously, cracking open the entrance, only let the door swing shut as he turned the other way.

"Nope, nope, I am not dealing with that, good luck, goodbye, see you later, until we meet again!"

"Have a nice mission," Azalea said faintly as he passed her by. Her gaze remained in the direction of the cacophony. Don't let things get too out of hand with Ymir and Zeno. And look after Mazus-

Azalea was only half-listening as Klein strolled over to greet the new recruits. He was a perfectly capable adventurer with a good track record, though she knew he didn't often decide to accompany others. It would certainly be a challenge for the coppers if they wanted to keep up with him.

I'm planning on picking 'Undead Forces' as the quest I will go on next."

Uh-huh, uh-huh... wait. Azalea frowned, finally tearing her eyes away from the kitchen to observe the group of three. Her concern showed as Klein continued in his mild tone, speaking as if they were discussing small things like the weather. "It is not exactly common to take two copper-ranked adventurers on a gold quest and it will undoubtedly be a long and dangerous adventure. You are free to refuse if you feel you aren't up to the task"

"I accept it. When we going?"

"I've come to inform you that I'm prepared to go on this quest, no amount of thinking would change my answer."

Well Azalea couldn't fault them for eagerness. It didn't take long for them to approach Klein's table after he'd finished speaking, neither seeming to bat a lash at the fact it was a gold rank quest.

It made it all the more a pity as Azalea cleared her throat.

"As happy as I am for you three to go on a quest together, I'll have to ask you to withhold from tackling the undead forces just yet." There were a number of reasons, though it would certainly need to be taken care of in time. "Eiru and Zion are currently on a rescue mission in that area," she continued, pausing only briefly as a particularly loud crash came from the kitchen. She covered a wince as she tried to stay on track. Whatever was going on seemed like it would take forever to clean up. "Given the scope of things, I'd like to wait for them to get back before delving too far into the region."

"I accept it. When we going?" Klein responded with a polite nod. "I will await an answer from the other new member before I inform you of the time of our departure. Rest assured, as long as you are here within the guild hall or in the vicinity I have my ways of getting the message to you."

"My apologies for interrupting your reading." Klein put down the newspaper and gave a faint smile. "Think nothing of it, I am already aware of the contents of the article." He said, motioning for the other to continue. "I've come to inform you that I'm prepared to go on this quest, no amount of thinking would change my answer." "Very well, I expected such an answer." Klein said with a smile.

"I don't expect anyone to give their life for mine. As you shouldn't expect the same from me. But I too will ensure your safety to the best of my ability. If it's not an issue I ask we go on this quest as soon as possible. I've been itching to do something." Klein took off his glasses, placing them on the table before responding. "A sensible statement, I can tell you have more experience than your rank would suggest. I will inform Azalea of my intention to go on this quest to confirm there are no problems, if I don't give a message stating otherwise I expect us to meet here in 4 hours for departure. Until then you can make preparations or rest."

Klein nodded to Lynx before standing up and walking back to Azalea, stopping by the table Themisto was still seated at to inform her of their time of departure as well.

"As happy as I am for you three to go on a quest together, I'll have to ask you to withhold from tackling the undead forces just yet." Klein raised an eyebrow at that. "Why would that be?" He asked. "Eiru and Zion are currently on a rescue mission in that area, given the scope of things, I'd like to wait for them to get back before delving too far into the region." Klein nodded, he wasn't one to make a fuss, especially not when Azalea's reason was a perfectly valid one. "I see, I agree with your judgement on the matter," He stated, twirling his cane in his hand. "However, I am of the opinion I can't go back on my word of taking these new members on a gold-ranked quest now." His eyes drifted to the quest board momentarily as he continued. "How about the other gold quest, the wraith of Gaenet woods, was it? That one should be available, yes?"

Elias Allard

"Excuse me for a minute, I have to see what is wrong in there."

Growing impatient with the wait. The smile on his face faded as he turned back into the kitchen doors to investigate the delayed surprise. This was the perfect time for Azalea to attend to other businesses occurring at the same time it is happening. The man held onto the door handle unaware of what lies on the other side, the door opened, out came the orchestra of unorganized sounds berserks into Elias's ears and those who are near it. It was not the usual sound of boiling pots and whistling kettles, it was shouting and clashing of metals as if a fight had broken out in the kitchen. Even with the close of the door. The warbled yelling and loud clanging did not stop. It was still audible. It was a sound of warfare within the culinary section. Seconds felt like minutes when Elias escaped the riot within the kitchen. He was sweating and gasping for air. A slightly upset look on his face was present as he held one of the doors with his free hand.

"Do not let it escape!"

He opened and peeked his head through the door, as he commanded his soldiers to hold their ground against an unforeseen threat that has emerged from the kitchen. He holds a large kitchen knife in his hand, which can almost be mistaken as a dagger. Elias walked back to the Guild scribe to report an update on the supposed meal. He approached her at the time where she is free from the other member's conversations and meekly spoke to them in a descending and awkward tone.

"Madam... How may I say this... But as of-- No! I'm afraid. I-i'm afraid..."

Oh! By the gods! I'm afraid the seafood that I wish to serve you..."

"...Has fought back..."

Elias himself couldn't bring home the message as he didn't want to witness Azalea's live reaction to such a bizarre report. The man had his hesitations and stuttering to tell that the crab that he is supposed to serve has dueled against him in time of such hurry.

"Please, it may not be believable to you but... I was told by the boys that a creature drew a blade from the kitchen and retaliated against one of my men with such swiftness I did not notice the beast. I had to grab a knife on my way out to protect myself, oh what curse has been brought to the kitchen. Madam, this is something I cannot surprisingly handle with just the cooks. A powerful creature lurks in this guild, and it's right. beyond. those. doors."

Elias kept his voice low and controlled to avoid causing and raising his voice to prevent drawing attention to the peaceful eaters. Elias becomes more whispered and emotional at the end of the statement as he leaned closer to the guild scribe with eyes that has seen trouble.

The group didn't seem to have a problem with him coming, which was fine. He didnt care to much about that- but when Leonidas asked him if everything would be alright between him and Ymir, he simply just shrugged- you never know.

Zeno kept silent for the remainder of the talk, until Ymir pointed out where they would meet up. The spot worked for him, but might have had to pack some extra things.

"Works for me- see you all their."

And without another word, he departed from the hall, headed for his small place in the city.

50 minutes later, he arrived at the outpost. walking around for a bit, he immodestly headed for the outside of the outpost- he reasoned that Ymir and Leonidas might already be their, to map the terrain-

He finally spotted the pair of them, and as Blyke finished speaking, he finally spoke, making his presence known.

"The only thing we'll be finding in this wasteland will be one Loraine the Fell. And any monsters nearby."

Before he could finish his sentence Azalea began to speak. She informed us on the fact that she would like us to postpone our adventure. That wasn't what Minma wanted to hear but he understood her reasoning. He wanted to argue her point but withheld from doing so. He was happy to hear Klein request another one of the gold quest. He was attempting to hold his word to take us on a gold quest and with that he gained more of Minma's respect.

Azalea was speaking to Elias now. Minma keenly observed their conversation. He could tell something wasn't right, especially during the end of Elias speaking. It wasn't his voice but his facial expressions. Minma wanted to see if he could be of service to repay Elias for his service. Minma stood up from his chair and made his way to Azalea and Elias. And so, the adventurers of Waystone Guild embarked on their trek across the cursed region, in hopes of rescuing (or mercifully killing) the scouts under Angora Guile's division.

The further their ferret guides helped them descend, the starker the landscape became. The dark and foreboding woods that surrounded them grew shorter and thinner -- the branches barely providing resistance against their footsteps and snapping at the lightest touch. It was if the land itself had been drained of it's living essence. Even the sun's rays did not dare to touch the cursed soil. The the cold from the earth seeped deep into one's bones and formed a gentle mist that stayed close to the floor.

It was eerily quiet, in contrast to the adventurers' expectations. Not even the surprised fluttering of birds in the trees or the note of a cricket. But formless shadows lurked by the side ones' vision, and disappeared whenever one tried to see if it was real. Only the quiet breathing of the three living adventurers were the sounds of life.

It was hard to tell time here as the skies above barely seemed to move, however, eventually at one point the glow of any enchanted items on one's person faded. This included the infamous Guild Stone. For the adventurers, this was the point of no return -- by any magical means.

Apart from the loss of enchantments as an indication, before them loomed another outpost. Albeit looking abandoned, there had been a sign of it once being manned.

A tattered yet fortunately discernable symbol of a flame with eyes emblazoned on cloth, fluttered weakly. Strangely enough, there was no breeze.

1617104329399.png

Past this structure was their actual destination. It may not be as impressive as the wooden fortress from earlier since time and weather had worn its stone away. But the main thing that our adventurers were to take heed from it were its guards.

1617104158959.png

The wasteland they had traversed through had been empty, but it seemed as if its former inhabitants had congretated around and within this outpost. Shambling corpses of animals and some humanoid figures littered its grounds like the stalagmites of the wooden fortress from before.
