IC Threads
There are currently three IC Threads.
  • The Main Hall Thread exists for characters to interact and form their teams. There is a quest board on the first page of the thread (located after the intro post) with ideas and quest rewards, as well as a tab for all the completed missions.
  • The first Questing Thread is currently closed to new members, as it is dedicated to the Sacred Isles Expedition.
  • The second Questing Thread is for new missions once people have formed their teams and departed from the Main Hall.
Adventurer Items
Every adventurer is given a set of items once they are formally accepted by the Guild: a waystone, an enchanted map, and a bag of holding.
  • The waystone is used for long distance transport. Visualise the place you want to be and it will take you there, so long as it is within the areas on the guild map. When heading into unexplored territory--or where there is interference of some kind--all waystone functions will cease, so keep that in mind when heading outside the border.
  • The bag of holding can store anything small enough to fit through the mouth. To retrieve, think of the item and reach inside.
  • The enchanted map covers most of the land surrounding Lantana. When travelling to regions outside its borders part of the journey will need to be on foot.
The Guild Hall
The two guild clerks are Azalea (played by Chinchia) and Kathlyn (played by Key of Stars) and characters may see either of them to register for a new quest. Food and drink are available able to be ordered through NPCs at the bar. There are short term lodgings on the first floor for characters to use, while long-term residents are situated on the second floor.

Out the back of the hall there are the training fields. From the front of the guild a path leads through the forest and farmlands into the city.

Enemy Ranks
Non-guild characters also have ranks, which is how the difficulty of quests are determined. If, at some point throughout the RP, you want to create an enemy character with attributes, the points for each level of difficulty are given below.

Please note that the points for enemies are set much higher than what characters have at the start. This is to account for the characters' growth throughout the RP, and to give an incentive towards starting low and working through the ranks.

None of these point levels are referenced IC. It is purely for reference OOC.

Points assigned to rank:
Copper I: 50
Copper II: 100
Iron I: 200
Iron II: 300
Iron III: 400
Iron IV: 500 (allies cannot be created above this level without permission)
Silver I: 750
Silver II: 1000 (enemies cannot be created above this level without permission)

All maps were made by me using Inkarnate.

The 'guild map' border represents the rough limits of the waystone's reach. Areas and locations within it can be teleported to, unless there is some kind of noted obstruction.

To move up a tier, a character must complete two quests equal to their current rank—or an equivalent amount of four in the rank below or one higher ranking one. When moving up a tier there are three options for rewards—coin, equipment, or attribute potions.

Coin
The simplest offer of the three, a lump sum payment of coin. Good for when your character isn't certain what they want, or they're saving up for something in a higher rank. The values below are the same as what it costs to purchase equipment or attribute potions of the same rank.
Copper: 250 Gold
Iron: 500 Gold
Silver: 1000 Gold
Gold: 2000 Gold

Attribute Potions
Kathlyn now has the equipment to craft stronger attribute potions! Be careful when consuming these, as they can place a great deal of stress on the body, and trying to consume attribute potions with higher stats than your character can be deadly.
Copper Tier: 50pts
Iron Tier: 100pts (☠️)
Silver Tier: 250pts (☠️☠️)
Gold Tier: 500pts (☠️☠️☠️)

Equipment
The third option is equipment from Merkon. As a guideline, a character requires at least equal amount of attribute points as what the weapon adds in order to get the bonus—and they will encounter difficulties with control until they train to at least double the amount.
Copper: +50pts
Iron: +100pts
Silver: +200pts
Gold: +400pts
Equipment can boost both strength and affinities, but elemental weapons are particularly sought after as they can be used regardless of the owner's affinity. Just be aware that using a weapon of a different nature leads to weaker attacks. When using equipment of the same affinity, the points will be added to intelligence to increase the strength of the attack. A weapon of a different affinity can only be as strong as the bonus it gives.

Below are the available quests to embark on. Characters may go on ranks above their own as long as there is a senior adventurer there to accompany them. Tier levels indicate the recommended party size, but are not a necessity. To start a mission bring the notice to Kathlyn or Azalea.

Guild Levy: Each participant receives 20% of the coin reward. For parties above 4 this is reduced to 10%. The remaining amount is added to the guild's inventory.

  • Anyone can do these quests.
Repairs A recent storm has done quite a bit of damage to my ship and I'm supposed to set sail within the next few days. When I started repairs though I discovered something scuttling around the hull. I can hear it scratching around at night; can someone please remove it for me so I can get back to work? I'll be near the docks for the next few days.
    Difficulty: Tier II
    Reward: 80 Coin; 20 AP
Snap Apples I have to harvest the snap apple trees in my fields, but I'm afraid I hurt my back and I'm unable to work. If you could do some of the harvesting it would be much appreciated. Just beware the snap dragons. They like to make their nests among the leaves.
    Difficulty: Tier I
Reward: 40 Coin; 10 AP (per day)
Farmhand Poachers have come into our forests and they're hunting all the animals in it. The forest is littered with all sorts of traps, the animals don't stand a chance, if we don't do anything there won't be any animals left at all. Please go out there and destroy their traps, but be careful not to get caught in one yourself, it has happened to a few of us.
    Difficulty: Tier II
    Reward: 100 Coin; 20 AP

Zale Liron
Mentions Seraph Darkfire, Chinchia anyone else in the hall

Zale couldn't help but shudder when Akeldama made her presentence known in the hall. Thier hands darted down to grab the dagger and froze there the rat chattering in his ear. When she said she didn't prefer group work he nodded. When she called them lambs they bristled more, they were no weak lamb. He relaxed when Bhora said they just needed experience. Zale watched and listened trying to make up their mind who to go with. Vas’on mentioned picking a quest first and zale straightened up. They moved closer to Vas’on. “I agree that pickin a quest will help us figure out who should go where”

Azalea's silent face off with the newest member came to a halt as a buzzing, static sound began to fill the hall. She straightened, turning to see the symbols on the guild map in disarray. Is this more of F'aer's ability-?

"Oh, hey, hi! Name's Themisto..." Azalea spun once more to see the blurry, flickering form of one of the copper members talking to Kathlyn. "I wish i could talk with you all, but alas i dont have the so called time on my hand right now." They turned to face Azalea instead, and she had the sinking feeling there would be a great deal more work for her soon.

"I want to ask-ya a bunch of question..." Their form fazed in and out of existence as they approached. Was this part of their magic? Long distance projections were tricky things to accomplish on their own and... Azalea paled, in so far as it could without blood. Please tell me you aren't-- "Who made both Waystone and the Bag of Holdings? What happen with-the waystone, when it's carrier dies?"

"You--you're not using the waystone to do this are you?" Her eyes were wide, a note of panic in them. "You need to-"

A distorted yell was followed by a loud crash and the sound of splintering wood. Azalea winced. The guildstone wasn't meant to create such dangerous landings-

"What the HELLS?!"

Ah, Ymir's back. She didn't feel so bad then. Regardless! She turned to Themisto's distorted image, which was beginning to crackle with indistinct energy. "You need to stop whatever you're doing right now! The waystones use an old and incredibly powerful source of energy that--" If they somehow affected it, it could--Azalea gripped the branches along the sides of her head as Themisto's image blinked out of existence.

On the map wall, a waystone symbol disappeared.

Key of Stars Key of Stars Minma Minma
The trio's reprieve from the onslaught of enemies was cut short as Themisto's waystone began to react. The glow surrounding it flared up, crackling energy beginning to nip at those nearby. It grew more and more potent as a low hum filled the air, until with a flicker the energy disappeared completely. Nothing more than a decorated pebble remained.
[A Waystone has been deactivated.]

Their mission had gone alright, all things considered. They were frostbitten, worn to the bone, and still stained with blood in places, but they were alive! Despite being non-combat specialists, and their most certainly wasn't. Leaving the caverns should have been the end of it. Of course, with how their day was going it wouldn't be fair to not throw them a final curve-ball--

KKkkZzzZZzZz--

That's not normal. The only real warning was the unnatural buzzing that filled her head. Waystone travel was much like falling for her. She usually landed upright, on her feet, usually without too much jarring impact. The only places where she usually had difficulty were on the edges of the guild map, or in areas with magical interference--but the guild hall was one of the safest places to teleport to. Did I think of somewhere different-?

There wasn't much time to contemplate it. The stone spat them out right above one of the tables. Her choked cough was overshadowed by the sharp sound of splintering wood, leaving her staring dazedly up at the hole in the roof and the sky beyond. She definitely recognised the rickety pattern. They were in the guild. So why...

"What the HELLS?!" She struggled up, aching all over again. Her gaze snapped around the guild, though by that point Themisto's image had disappeared and there was only the general chaos remaining. Her eyes landed on a group with several new faces, though she hardly had the presence of mind to notice much else. More members huh. That'll be... be-- fun?

Ugh.
She was gonna be sick.

Not from them, the landing had apparently been a final straw. Or maybe the waystone travel had shaken off the pain-nullifying effects of Leo's poetry. She fell onto her back again with a groan, eyes closed against the obnoxious light. I should've let the dawn take me.

At least the crystalline orb she'd picked up had made it back safe. Leo as well. Hopefully she'd been able to spare him any serious hits to the head in the landing.

Akeldama Vlad Aldea Mayer
Silver Rank Blade Dancer
Waystone Guild

Akel was more than familiar with how fearsome Azalea could be and when the woman became outraged with one of the new recruits Akeldama moved to take a few paces back. When the new receptionist jumped in response to her words Akel tilted her head slightly and offered her a soft and subtle smile in return. Clearly, the woman had been shaken by the hostile action taken against her, even if it was in jest. To Akel such reactions were like a red rag, seeing weak individuals shaking and or disorientated was something that tended to awaken a more predatorial instinct within her. Fortunately, Akel was more than capable of dealing in such instincts and staving of any such thoughts. Akel wondered in that moment though, would this new receptionist be made aware of her race and if so would her offer of assistance still stand? Humans tended to fear Vampires and rightly so, Azalea was someone Akel had grown to trust and although a new receptionist was a welcome sight for those who knew how hard Azalea worked, it was going to be hard to adjust for the half-vampire. Perhaps a conversation with Azalea would be needed.

While Akel was deep in thought on the matter a projected image happened to make its appearance. The projection sought out Azalea right away and that in itself only went on to prove how much Azalea handled on a daily basis and how drastic such dealings changed on any given day. The poor woman. Choosing to ignore the projection for the most part, Akel moved back toward the desk where she leaned back and took a deep breath 'this is why I wait until the guild... just how much trouble could possibly...' *Crash*

As if on queue Ymir had returned, falling from the ceiling down onto a table nearby. Typical. The sight almost made the half-blood chuckle but if anything she wanted to leave as soon as possible. "Azalea, It would appear you're hands are growing fuller and fuller. Before things get any more hectic could you please pick one of these new comers and give me a copper quest to carry out with them. Any will do. The suns setting and I want to get a move on... if you catch my drift. Unless of course, you'd like me to go and aid the team that just caused you such torment"

It helped that he was only really half-conscious, his body only half registered the fact that he had just crashed into the floor of the guild hall at a not inconsiderable speed. Waystone travel was supposed to put the user down on their feet but with how most things today had gone Leonidas really wasn't even that surprised when he crashed into the floor.

He vaguely registered the sound of splintering wood next to him, he hoped the sound made it seem worse than it was and Ymir didn't have too terrible of a landing but he really didn't have the energy to turn his head and check.

He was lucky that he had landed on his stomach facing the front desk of the guild hall so even without turning his head he could see most of the others present in the hall. Lots of new faces, including someone new behind the counter. He figured crashing into the floor looking more dead than alive wasn't really the best first impression he could make but then again, what was he supposed to do? It wasn't like he had the energy to stand up for a proper greeting.
He managed to raise a single hand off the floor and give a little wave in the general direction of the big group of people at the front desk. They would have to be satisfied with that as a greeting for now because he really couldn't manage anything more. He would greet those that were still here when he woke up again properly later.

With great struggle, he managed to roll himself over on his back. "Wake me up if something important happens." He muttered to the ceiling, unsure of whether or not Ymir could even hear him. Only after all that did he feel comfortable closing his eyes and did he stop struggling to stay conscious. As soon as his eyelids fully closed he slipped into a blend of sleep and unconsciousness.

{Interactions: Akeldama Uasal Uasal / Zale Starwalker123 Starwalker123 / Azalea Sylph Sylph }

Vas'On wondered if Akeldama was scarier than he was. Everyone seemed to flinch away from her when she appeared, some kind of primal fear? She certainly wasn't entirely human but he still hadn't gotten her to divulge that information to him. Her strength and speed was too great for someone with a normal human lineage, at least not without sufficient magical boosts. He personally didn't see the scary aspect, but perhaps he was biased in some way or another. Perhaps he'd fought her so often that he was immune to whatever fear she'd normally induce?

He placed a hand on Zale's shoulder, the one not harboring the small mammal, and spoke "It isn't Azalea's job to assign you quests" he pointed towards the board "Find a quest that you think is interesting and take it to the receptionist"

"Once you've acquired a quest, you can then find people interested in joining you" he looked at the other newcomers "You can also speak to one of them and form a team prior and discuss what quests you'd like to go after. Usually, it is smart to find people who compliment your abilities, but making friends is equally important"

He then looked at Azalea as a team appeared "So, is this the third or fourth time this has happened?" he asked. People tinkering with the waystones wasn't uncommon, though there was always hell to pay when it did happen.

Kathlyn excused herself from the conversation with Akeldama with a smile. It didn't seem like the more experienced member of the guild was going to say much more but Kathlyn hoped that she would take her offer of assistance to heart and wouldn't hesitate to ask should she need it. She was surprised when the blurry form of a woman she had never met took shape before her, surprised, but also curious and filled with a dozen questions. She didn't have to ask though, the other introduced herself unprompted.

"Oh, hey, hi! Name's Themisto..." Kathlyn smiled. "I'm Kathlyn Silva, the guild's new receptionist." She wanted to ask more but Themisto continued talking.

"I wish i could talk with you all, but alas i dont have the so called time on my hand right now" Kathlyn gave a polite nod. "I understand, I wouldn't want to take up your time if you are in a hurry." Themisto turned to Azalea and Kathlyn sat down in the chair behind the front desk, relaxing for a moment. This was the first time she actually had a moment of rest ever since she took her place behind the front desk. She didn't mind though, the work was fun and rewarding.

Her brief break was cut short by a loud crash and the sound of splintering wood. Kathlyn immediately sprung back into action, looking for the source of the crash. At the other end of the hall two people had appeared out of nowhere and landed on top of a table, breaking it in the process. Kathlyn could only assume the two were members of the guild that had just gotten back from a quest or a journey.

The woman struggled to her feet and looked at Kathlyn and the others around the front desk with a studying look in her eyes. The male part of the duo didn't get up from where he had landed, instead he raised one of his hands slightly and gave a small wave. Kathlyn was curious about who the two of them were exactly but more importantly, and to her far more apparent, she had immediately noticed the injuries from across the hall.

She immediately got to work, grabbing her backpack from behind her and making her way over to where the duo had made their unfortunate landing. From close up the injuries were even more clear and Kathlyn realized she had underestimated the sheer amount present. The man had turned himself over on his back and had passed out in the time she had used to walk over to the duo.

Kathlyn decided to start by checking him. Passing out could be a sign of extreme exhaustion but there were various other, far more dangerous, explanations for passing out as well. She observed in silence. A cut on his leg, a shallower but frosted over cut on his arm, general symptoms of hypothermia. He wasn't in any actual life-threatening danger but the sooner she treated his wounds the better, infections were a nasty thing.

She focused her attention on the woman, she had closed her eyes but Kathlyn could tell by her breathing that she was still conscious. "Hello, I'm Kathlyn Silva, the guild's new receptionist and also aficionado and expert in all things medicine." She quickly introduced herself in her usual cheery way before slipping right back into her medic persona.

"Could you tell me what exactly happened? I understand that I am asking a lot from you but I need to know what exactly I'm working with." She pulled out two small vials from her backpack and held them out to the woman. "Here, drink these. One of them is a general painkiller and the other will alleviate your exhaustion ever so slightly." She explained, waiting for the woman to take the silvery and pink liquid filled vials.

Kathlyn turned around, pulling her hair into a messy ponytail that she tied with a mint green band she pulled from her bag. She also pulled out a small cauldron from her backpack and set it down on the nearest intact table next to a few empty vials she had also grabbed from her bag. Finally, she pulled out a pair of goggles made of thick green glass and slipped them onto her forehead, flipping her notebook to a specific page.

Only after all that did she realize what she was doing. She was still very much on the clock and her job wasn't one of a medic. She glanced over at the front desk and sighed in relief when she noticed no one new had walked in since she had started doing her check-up. "Miss Azalea?" She shouted in the general direction of her boss. "Do I have permission to brew a potion to treat the two members that just arrived? I can do it right here in the hall so I'll notice when someone new comes in." She continued. Kathlyn was sure her eyes were looking a lot more defiant than she wanted them to but she simply couldn't accept an answer other than yes unless Azalea had someone else available to treat the two of them.

"Leonard! Have you done your training today?" The booming voice called out, startling Leonidas who had decided to sit down against his favorite tree next to the all too familiar training grounds. "Yes father! I finished it an hour ago." Leonidas called back, standing up with a sigh. "If you have time to rest for a full hour you should come over here, I'll beat some more training into you!"

Leonidas let out another sigh and walked over to his father on the training grounds, unsheathing the shiny new rapier at his hip in the process. "Yes father, I'll show you what I learned." He said, taking on a fighting stance with a slight grin. Sure he was getting quite tired of his current life, and he didn't want to take over the company, not that he had been brave enough to tell his father that though, but he still quite enjoyed fighting.

-

"The shitty old man is going way too hard on me lately!" Leonidas loudly complained, falling back onto his bed. "He has your best interest at heart you know?" A gentle voice replied. Leonidas sighed. "You keep saying that Cylia but I don't see how kicking me in the stomach after he's already beaten me in a spar is in my best interest." He remarked, glancing up at his sister.

"He just wants you to be strong enough to take over the company." Cylia said, sounding not entirely convinced of her own words. "And I already told you countless times, I don't want to take over the company, I just want to live a life of my own, not being confined to this place, I want to have some fun." Cylia sighed. "Yet you haven't told father that brother."

Leonidas made a frustrated noise. "I know I haven't! I told you before, he's going to kick me out! And you told me before you won't forgive me if I leave you behind." Cylia smiled. "Talk to father, I'm sure you can reach an agreement with him."

-

"I see, you are free to make that decision, but if that's what you want then leave and don't you dare come back." Leonidas was shocked, he had expected his father to shout at him and tell him to get his idea out of his head. Instead, his father had calmly told him that he was free to go and disowned him all in the same sentence. He nodded tersely. "Fine, I'll go say goodbye to Cylia."

"No," No? "A stranger like you has no reason to talk to my daughter." Leonidas whirled around. "What did you say?! Cylia is my sister!" His father stood up from behind the desk. "No she's not, I don't have a son. Hand over your ring." He commanded, hand outstretched. "You can't stop me from saying goodbye to my sister!" He protested "I don't like repeating myself boy, hand over the ring and leave! Unless you think you can beat me in a fight."

Leonidas pulled the small golden ring bearing the Hower family crest off of his finger and threw it at his father before flipping him off. "I'll be waiting for the day the papers report on your death." His father simply caught the ring out of the air. "And I hope to never hear from Leonard Hower again, now get lost."

-

"Are you hurt somehow?" The voice came out of nowhere, and the hands touching his face were even more surprising. "Oh, oh I see. None of this is real." As Leonidas realized he was dreaming the memories of what happened came flooding back. I must have passed out in the guild hall.

"If you are brave enough, i can take away your pain..." Leonidas laughed. "I'm sorry but that sounds exactly like a line out of a novel. You know, when the main character gets offered unlimited power in exchange for something and the something ends up being a crippling curse that kills him within ten years."

"I just survived that horrible icy mess I would prefer to not die immediately after by making an irreversible deal in my sleep."
He said with a smile. "That said, I can't say I'm not intrigued. And I'm not exactly one to back away from an adventure." He thought about it for a moment.

He ultimately extended his hand with a smile. "Let's go. Oh and if you're going to kill me, at least make it a fun death alright?"

It was troubling. Ymir didn't like when the waystone didn't work. She was used to it in certain areas, but the guild hall? That was trouble in the brewing.

"Wake me up if something important happens." Her eyes cracked open at Leo's groan, glancing over as he slipped out of consciousness. It didn't take long for someone else to come running. A new face she hadn't seen before.

"Hello, I'm Kathlyn Silva, the guild's new receptionist and also aficionado and expert in all things medicine." Ymir barely had the energy to blink. Since when had they had another receptionist? "Could you tell me what exactly happened?" Oh, they were a medical specialist too. She was still processing the information as she struggled to push herself up, dropping her legs over the edge of the broken table. Hells, I really am going to be sick.

"I understand that I am asking a lot from you but I need to know what exactly I'm working with." Ahh, they're still talking.

She grimaced, pressing a hand to her head as she struggled on taking a steady breath. The new assistant... Kath... something, rummaged through their bag as Ymir closed her eyes, forehead clammy. "Here, drink these. One of them is a general painkiller and the other will alleviate your exhaustion ever so slightly."

She pushed them away, shaking her head wordlessly as she braced against the wood. She'd throw up if she tried to drink anything. I'd feel better after-- this hell. Dawn take me--

"Miss Azalea?" they shouted and Ymir winced, part at the volume and part at the name. Don't bring her into this. "Do I have permission to brew a potion to treat the two members that just arrived? I can do it right here in the hall so I'll notice when someone new comes in."

Ymir slumped against the edge of the table, head reeling. "Delayed... in shock," she muttered. The room was too warm. Her limbs were going to thaw. She groaned, head pressed against the wood. Gonna throw up. "Nice goggles-"

She wished she could say more, but at best she could focus on breathing. Should make like Leo and fall asleep.

This is a mess. Azalea pinched the bridge of her nose, trying to figure out what she needed to deal with first as Kathlyn's tangle of blonde hair flew past in her rush towards the recent arrivals.

"You stand correct, you are not under no obligation to accept me. However, as a matter of fact, tis was not about vanity." They sighed, the swirl of hair around them beginning to lower. Azalea backed off herself, taking a deep breath as she tried to recollect her composure. "I am ashamed for what did I so..." They bowed, stepping away. "I've noticed that time took its toll in this building. As a peace offering, I will fix that."

Fix it...? Azalea frowned. Unless they had a carpenter's training, there wouldn't be much they could...

"Hold on." Azalea raised a hand, eyes wide as energy began to surround them. "That isn't necessary-" What was it with nobles and their need to pay things back to such ridiculous lengths? Azalea approached them carefully, wary of the magic they had begun to cast. "This place is under the protection of the guildmaster so I implore you not to..." She trailed off, the branches in her hair twisted into knots. They didn't seem to hear her anymore, floating off the ground in an unusual posture. Just what are they doing?

“I agree that pickin a quest will help us figure out who should go where.” Zale's quiet voice barely reached her over all the commotion. Azalea glanced to the small group that had formed as the creature on his shoulder chittered its agreement.

"It isn't Azalea's job to assign you quests." Vas'on said, setting a hand on the smaller adventurer's shoulder as he gestured towards the board. Though I end up doing so half the time anyway. "Find a quest that you think is interesting and take it to the receptionist."

Azalea pressed a hand to her head as he continued. Vas'on had always been willing to lend a hand, unlike his enigmatic sparring partner who-

"Azalea-"

--had not been there two seconds ago. Azalea nearly bit her tongue, crumpling whatever was in her hands. She'd lost track of if it were an application or a quest, spinning to face the ambivalent Akel with a start. Even without your ability you're far too quiet-

"It would appear you're hands are growing fuller and fuller," they continued, either oblivious or unconcerned. "Before things get any more hectic could you please pick one of these newcomers and give me a copper quest to carry out with them. Any will do. The sun's setting and I want to get a move on..." Azalea glanced up at the roof, blinking at the streaks of orange outside. It's gotten so late already? "If you catch my drift. Unless of course, you'd like me to go and aid the team that just caused you such torment."

Azalea waved the last request off. "Klein's with them, they should be fine." Even if one waystone was having issues the others appeared okay on the map. The guild on the other hand... This is mayhem.

She sighed, gesturing for Akel to follow as she strode past Vas'on and Zale to reach the board.

"So, is this the third or fourth time this has happened?" Vas'on's voice gave her pause, following his line of sight towards the waystones on the guild map. He was right--it wasn't the first time there had been interference--but the culprits of those had mostly belonged to hostile forces. There should be no need for someone inside the guild to do such a thing... well, barring one witch in particular.

"Enemies or allies?" Azalea shook her head, pausing before she pulled the copper request for moss off the board and shoved it at Vas'on. Too many times, regardless. "Here, Vas'on, take Zale and Akel with you. This is low rank so it should be over quick. Just beware the darkwoods at night. Its more dangerous inhabitants will be active going into the evening."

Turning to Zale she made sure he had a hold of his bag, pulling up hood he'd let down back up over his head. "You hang on to Vas'on for the first teleport. If you're connected then you won't be separated by the waystone when you land. He'll explain the rest once you're there." She straightened, huffing as she made a motion to shoo them off. "Vas'on and Akel, I expect you to keep an eye on Zale. Do not get caught up in some stupid rivalry-" an act they were not innocent of doing in the past. "And get out of here before something else goes wrong."

"Miss Azalea?" A familiar call from across the hall caught her attention. She glanced over, turning from the other three to see Kathlyn with her cauldron and potions and apothecary book set out on the nearest intact table. "Do I have permission to brew a potion to treat the two members that just arrived?" She raised a brow. "I can do it right here in the hall so I'll notice when someone new comes in."

They had an awfully defiant look for someone asking permission. Azalea shook her head, waving her hand in a 'go ahead' gesture. They didn't seem about to pack it all up if she said no, but she didn't mind if they wanted to take initiative for something like that. Turning to the remaining members, she frowned as she considered what to do.

Elsewhere...

The empty world opened beneath them. A vast blackness that swallowed all things. Great wings stretched out to catch the current, though it was not the wind they followed. Nothing of the other world existed in this strange and uncanny realm. Nothing but dim clouds and ravines that stretched into darkness.

There was nothing to signal the change, but the being that glided above it shifted slightly in its path. Moonlit eyes lifted from the desolate place to observe one much further away. A world far detached from its own. Such small fluctuations were easy to ignore. Easy to forget. Humans were good at meddling where they shouldn't, but to feel the ripples of it from so far away was peculiar... if nothing else.

Its great wingspan tilted, diverting from the path it followed. With a ripple that echoed from one realm to the next, it passed through to a different place.

The change might've been felt in the skies above the guild, if one were attuned to the spirit side of things. The being landed in a warped mirror of the world, glancing around at the vague shapes of energy. A gate to the world of dreams had been opened, and the entity's form shifted into something different as it slipped inside. There was no true shape to the world of dreams, but luminous eyes peered down upon the tiny creatures swarming the indistinct hall. Its gaze narrowed in vexation. Maggots. It swept a wing across the scene, scattering them to swirling dust. They had no business in that place. Begone.

"Are you hurt somehow?" A distant voice spoke. The creature tilted its head.

"Oh, oh I see. None of this is real." The entity blinked, recalling a voice that echoed like forgotten songs.

"If you are brave enough, I can take away your pain..."

"I'm sorry but that sounds exactly like a line out of a novel. You know, when the main character gets offered unlimited power-"
It was a playful memory. "-in exchange for something and the something ends up being a crippling curse that kills him within ten years..." One that spun great stories. Though it was not the disturbance the being sought, it was strange to see dreamers walk the lands.

The being hopped forward, peering over the edge into a foreign realm, seeing the two beyond the unlocked corners of a dream.

An Abyssian? It had been a good while since the being encountered on of their ilk. Rarely did they walk in the world of day, so far from the voids of Ciarath. No matter. Its question answered, the great being raised its head, turning to the realms to seek what had first drawn it here. It had no business with Abyssians in the world of dreams. Troubled instead by a disturbance to the heart. If the dreamers had nothing to do with the creature, then it would return to the corporeal plane to discover the cause.

Kathlyn heaved a sigh of relief when Azalea gave her the okay. She shouted a quick thank you back before focussing on the two people she had taken on as patients. The woman seemed to be in a lot of pain but she had nonetheless refused Kathlyn's two potions, she figured it was because the woman was unable to keep anything she would drink right now in. Even so, Kathlyn had to do something about the pain, she didn't have any sleeping powder ready but she had something else.

She rummaged through her backpack before pulling out a small wooden container fitted with a lid that ended in a soft tip and a small vial labeled with a red dot. She turned back to the woman whose name she still didn't know, not like Kathlyn could blame her for not introducing herself though, with a reassuring smile. "Delayed... in shock," Kathlyn skillfully poured the liquid from the vial into the container while crouching down in front of the woman. "This might be a bit weird but it won't hurt so I would like you to trust me." The woman most likely wouldn't be able to resist even if she wanted to but Kathlyn hoped her words would at put her at ease even if only ever so slightly.

"Nice goggles-" Kathlyn giggled. "Thank you, yours are very cool as well." She took the opportunity to start her treatment while the other woman was focused on her. She gently pressed her right hand enveloped in a green glow to her patient's skin, slowly gliding it over the various scrapes and small cuts. At the same time, she brought the wooden container she had in her left hand up to the woman's nose, she swiftly gave the tip a squeeze causing a small cloud of tiny fluid droplets to spray out. She calmly finished healing the smaller scrapes and cuts and pulled both of her hands back. "There, that painkiller should make this all a little more bearable. I'll have something to permanently fix you up ready in roughly twenty minutes."

She turned around and walked over to her small cauldron, the woman would be fine now, the painkiller would be a little less effective after having been administered nasally like she had done but it would turn the unbearable pain into a pain more akin to a severe muscle ache one would get after overexerting themself. She swiftly got to work, flipping the goggles onto her eyes. 3 leaves of moon peppermint She ground the small leaves into a fine powder and threw them into the cauldron after pouring some mana into it to make it heat up.

1/10th of a vial of lapis honey She picked up the vial next to her and carefully poured in a bit of the sticky light blue translucent substance into the cauldron. 5 grams of pulverized earth crystal She grabbed another container and carefully shook it until a bit of the powder fell down into the cauldron.

3 drops of fire snake venom and 9 milliliters of purified water She added the two ingredients to the cauldron with a satisfied smile. Now to stir for 10 minutes and finally add a drop of sun vanilla to make sure they don't throw it up

10 minutes later Kathlyn poured the orange-red liquid from the cauldron into two small vials and set her goggles back to her forehead, she had to blink a few times to get used to the sudden mix of colors she could observe without her goggles painting everything a deep green.

She walked back over to the woman with a smile. "Thank you for waiting, everything will be back to normal soon." She said, crouching back down in front of her patient. "You are in no condition to move so I do hope you'll forgive me for this." Kathlyn parted the woman's lips with as little force as possible and slowly poured the potion into her mouth. "Please swallow, I promise you won't throw it back up." She instructed with a stern but gentle expression.

She stood back up, the potion would take effect soon enough and the woman would be as healthy as ever again. She took out one last bottle and held it out to the woman. "Take this, it's not actually medicine but this herbal tea will help you fall asleep tonight. Once you're caught up on rest you'll be in tip-top shape."

Kathlyn turned to where the man was still sleeping, she had been keeping an eye on his condition while treating the woman and he seemed to be sleeping peacefully, occasionally mumbling what she assumed were names she didn't know. She softly clapped her hands, she still had work to do.

Vas'On looked at the quest he was handed and raised an eyebrow when he was told to take Dama with him. Not that he was complaining but sending two silver ranked members on a copper quest seemed...odd. He waited a moment, but it seemed that the other newbies were preoccupied with some other aspect he wasn't entirely sure about. With a short shrug, he pulled out his waystone as he looked at Zale "Waystones are simple to use and generally do not fail to go where you want them to, at least as long as you don't go messing with the magic they are comprised of. They will teleport anything touching the user...within reason."

He wasn't entirely sure how the magic worked or differentiated between him and the building, but he wasn't complaining. He walked over to his swords and lifted them back onto his back, the wooden floor under him creaking as the weight was added "The key to using them however is to have a clear picture of the location in mind. Letting your mind wander is a good way to end up where you wouldn't want to" he leveled his gaze on Zale "Not for the first time has a young man used the stones to 'accidentality' appear in a bath house" of course there were now fail safes, but it didn't stop people from trying.

Vas'On held out his arm to the two of them "Your bag should have everything you need for a quest this simple. As Azalea said, just hang on tight and you'll get pulled along when I use the stone" he gripped the stone and when the two were ready, he activated it.

The dreamscape was a difficult place to enter. Separate from both the physical and spiritual worlds--existing between the rift of life and death. It possessed all that could be imagined, from the depths of a despairing heart to the skies of boundless hope. It was both wondrous and terrifying. The owl's gaze drifted over the shifting plains, observing the shadows that formed and dissolved.

"I beg you pardon, however, in what grounds do you pry in this one's reverie?"

The creature blinked. Luminous eyes turned from the distance, falling instead on those inside the husk of a dream. Pri didn't answer immediately, tilting its head at a distant thought. Its beak opened, and the curious voice echoed around them. "..the Gates of Ivory."

Hooked talons sunk into the outer edges of the dream. The spiritual being leaned over them, eyes like the disk of a moon as it spoke without moving. "You are far from home." The great head tilted, beak closing before it opened once more. "I have not felt your heart through the waystone. For what reason do you open the gates within my guild, child of the abyss?" It recognised the heart of the wordsmith behind them, hidden beyond a veiling shroud. To touch the dream of another was a dangerous thing, both for the owner and those who observed. It was out of mere curiosity the creature asked. On its own the reverie was not a threat to the waking world.

The owl's head rose, turning to glance at plains as it finally recalled the initial question. "Alas, I seek the disturbance. It seems the change lay beyond the ivory gates."

Ymir didn't complain as they worked, focused on breathing through the twisted fingers in her chest. The small scrapes and bruises meant little. It was the sickness brought on by heat that was so suffocating. She considered teleporting back to the mountain where the biting cold could cool her down. It's got to be better than this bullshit.

"This might be a bit weird but it won't hurt so I would like you to trust me."

Ymir glanced over from her feverish cocoon. The green that enveloped their hands was soothing, neither warm nor cold as it lifted away stinging cuts and bruises with a touch. It wasn't much, but it helped. The magic itself was filled with enervating properties--what she didn't expect was for their small device to be a nasal sprayer.

"Ack-!" She sat up abruptly, clutching her nose with tearing eyes. That was not a sensation she was used to. She held the bridge of her nose, brow furrowed with the urge to snort it out. But as the sensation subsided her shoulders eased somewhat, taking with it the ill feeling in her chest. Was that medicine, or a psychological effect-?

"There, that painkiller should make this all a little more bearable-" Ah. Ymir glanced at the new healer, holding her nose with a frown. Maybe a bit of both. "I'll have something to permanently fix you up ready in roughly twenty minutes."

They sure had a weird way of doing things. A mix of potion-making and direct magic it seemed. Ymir pulled a face, gradually relaxing as the sickness in her chest began to subside. Despite the strange method she did feel half human again--a shame the burn of thawing skin couldn't be completely erased. Ymir exhaled, sitting properly for the first time on the edge of the broken table. Leo lay not too far away, muttering something in his unconscious state. She found it somewhat strange, given the extent of his injuries, but any movement was a good sign if the worry was hypothermia. The new healer may have done something already.

He's alive, regardless. Ymir continued to breath, taking deeper breaths now that she could wipe the fevered sweat off her brow. This new girl--Kathlyn--was focused on the bubbling mixture in front of them and Ymir watched as they measured out the meticulous amounts, recognising some of the ingredients and deciding she'd rather not know the others. By the time they pulled up their goggles and examined the reddish mixture Ymir was in a better state. Shaky, but more conscious than her team member.

"Thank you for waiting, everything will be back to normal soon." Ymir gave a somewhat doubtful smile, taking the vial out of their hands. "Please swallow, I promise you won't throw it back up."

Should be fine. Most drinks didn't glow, but at least it didn't look horribly bitter. Despite her general mistrust of medicines she threw it back in one go. The initial mixture was more like syrup, warm and sweet--except--

Ugh-! Ymir coughed, sticking out her tongue at the aftertaste. It had an unexpected bite. A lingering nip that crept up after as she rubbed her throat. Though it was warm in her chest, by gods- "Did that have fire essence or something?" That bite was fierce.

She glanced up as another bottle was offered to her. "Take this, it's not actually medicine but this herbal tea will help you fall asleep tonight. Once you're caught up on rest you'll be in tip-top shape."

Ah. Well they were mostly right. Uncorking the brew her brow cleared as soon as she smelled the Amolia. The dark brown mixture certainly looked unpleasant, but mixed into something it would be fine. The corner of Ymir's mouth twisted, refastening the top as she set it to the side. "Thank you." Unfortunately there's something else.

With the second potion in effect most of the frigid burning had faded to a throb. Ymir pulled her previously frozen leg onto her lap, finally able to look at undoing the soaked laces without aggravating the skin.

"So did you say you were the new receptionist?" She glanced over at Kathlyn, watching them observe an unconscious Leo. "I might've lost a few pegs, but I'm pretty sure that position didn't exist this morning. Did Azzy grow you out of a pot plant or something?"

She pulled off her boot, grimacing at the purplish skin that showed beneath the wrappings. Unlike the glancing blows from the ice beams this one had been hit direct, the nerves frozen through the muscle. The foot wasn't completely gone, but it wouldn't be recovered by a more general, wide-acting potion. She'd need to leave it time to recover. "I don't suppose you have restorative salve?"

Akeldama Vlad Aldea Mayer
Silver Rank Blade Dancer
Waystone Guild

Akel nodded in acceptance once Azalea assigned her to a quest and team. Although the quest mentioned was copper in rank Akel cared little, as far as she was concerned any quest of any rank was a quest worth taking. The guilds reputation wasn't exactly the best at the moment and if a silver rank was needed to quickly handle a few copper quests in the name of repairing that reputation then so be it. Plus it was better to introduce copper ranks to mundane quests such as fetching and gathering to better align them with the realities of the world around them as well as the questing system itself. Besides, the pay was relatively good for the work that was done and the time invested.

When Azalea mentioned that she didn't want Akel or Vas'on to compete in some form of rivalry during the course of the event Akel almost chuckled. It was such a ridiculous request to make all things considered. A competition of some form was bound to bear its head. Though that wasn't really an issue considering during previous expeditions such competitions never were let interfere with the outcome of the request at hand. The surroundings of some area may have been damaged but the quest had always returned completed.

Checking her blade was securely sheathed and attached to her belt Akel quietly and gracefully made her way over to Vas'on and Zale, taking a hold of Vas'on' shoulder "I'm ready whenever you are, lets get this one out of the way quickly and return for another."

Leonidas stared at the ivory gate in awe. "I know you said you weren't going to kill me but isn't this basically how everyone always says the gate to heaven looks like?" He said, pointing at the gate with a faint smile.

"I beg you pardon, however, in what grounds do you pry in this one's reverie?" Leonidas tried to follow the conversation between the strange lady guiding his dreams and the other for about what he felt like was a minute, telling exactly how much time passed was proving to be difficult in a space that seemed about as far removed from reality as could be. He slightly shook his head, deciding that trying to follow the conversation between the two beings wasn't worth the headache it would give him trying to understand what was said.

"And you..." Leonidas shot a questioning look. "Don't think too much, just let your mind wander." He snickered, it wasn't often that someone told him to think less. Thinking more, sure, that was something he heard at least once a week, but telling him to think less wasn't something many would do. "Wake up."

Leonidas opened his eyes to the sight of a blonde-haired girl with slightly pointed ears standing over him smiling. He sat up, noticing his injuries were completely healed. "Did you fix me up? Thank you." He said. The girl didn't respond, she just smiled before slowly walking away. He frowned. Weird, maybe she's just shy?

He looked around, eyes being drawn to the ceiling.
Since when has that hole been fixed? He shrugged and continued looking around until his eyes fell on the group near the front desk. Leonidas recognized Azalea and a few other senior members of the guild but what really grabbed his attention was the vague figures of people he had only ever seen once before in the moment right before he passed out. This isn't normal, is it?

Leonidas slowly felt his thoughts clear up when he felt an arm around his shoulder. "What are you sitting around for Leo?" Ymir smiled at him. "Does the guild hall feel weird to you?" He asked his friend, forgetting to be fazed by the fact that there was no trace of her injuries. "Weird? What are you talking about? Come on, drink up."

Leonidas raised his hand, almost dropping the pint of beer that he was suddenly holding in surprise.
That wasn't there before, was it? He glanced at Ymir, who smiled at him before she took a sip from her own pint. Whatever He shrugged and brought the pint to his lips, the fog around his thoughts becoming thicker once again as he accepted his current situation as reality.

"I am not using the waystone of yours. And the reason of the gates? Simple, the one who dreams is in physically damage, that way i can take this one pain away. And why a sliver of moment based on your guild? Convincing a body that a dream is real can lend to various effects, an accelerated healing for example."

How strange.
The owl blinked, staring down with fathomless eyes as it considered a peculiar thought. The creature knew of the abyssian wars—had flown above them once, a long long time ago—the milleniums of conflict had turned the five kingdoms of Ciarath into a realm of nightmares. And while the abbyssians' magic could be used for many things, most ancients would not consider a mortal's lifespan worth sparing.

"Can I ask what disturbance?"

The creature shook its head, retracting its talons from the edge of the reverie. As the wordsmith slipped off into a dream the vast wings extended, crouching down low in preparation to depart. You have your own souls to guide.

"I leave the dreaming in your care." The being leapt skywards, scattering mists caught beneath its wings as its voice echoed in parting over the plains. "Return them safely." Turning overhead the spirit circled once before disappearing, a ripple of energy left in the wake of its departure.

"Did that have fire essence or something?" Kathlyn looked back over her shoulder from where she was checking on Leonidas's condition, the man was in a surprisingly steady state for the amount of injuries present on his body. "Not exactly, one of its core ingredients is fire snake venom." She said, gliding her hands over the sleeping man's injuries to remove all the minor injuries and scrapes with her healing magic. "Don't worry though, it isn't venomous if you're using the right amount and the right supplementary ingredients." She quickly added with a beaming smile.

"Thank you." Kathlyn smiled. "Of course, that's part of what I'm here for miss..." It belatedly hit her that she still had no idea what her patient's name was so she let her sentence trail off. She focused back on the man in front of her, gently pushing his bottom lip down and pouring the same orange-red liquid she had given the woman into his mouth in small portions.

"So did you say you were the new receptionist?" Kathlyn nodded, hands once again busy healing scrapes and bruises she hadn't gotten to before. "Yes, I've been working here as Miss Azalea's assistant since this morning." "I might've lost a few pegs, but I'm pretty sure that position didn't exist this morning. Did Azzy grow you out of a pot plant or something?" Kathlyn laughed. "I came here to look for work as a healer but the guild didn't have much need for another dedicated healer so I got to work as miss Azalea's assistant instead, I have quite a bit of experience helping my father run his shop. I did spend most of my time growing up in the woods though, so perhaps you could say I'm something of a plant." She said with a giggle.

She finished her check-up and initial treatment of the man and stood up, eyes widening as she looked back at her other patient. "I don't suppose you have restorative salve?" Kathlyn rushed over and crouched down in front of her patient. "I apologize for not noticing you had an injury like this sooner." She hurriedly said, pulling her bag over to her side and rummaging around inside of it.

"There's a few things I can do but even if I work on it with my full capabilities it will take at least two days to fully recover. My magic and medicine can do quite a lot but I sadly can't work miracles." Kathlyn said dejectedly. "I'll give it my all though." She continued, pulling out a needle.

"This is going to hurt a bit but I have to numb that foot or what follows next will hurt way more." She explained, swiftly jabbing the needle into her patient's foot before they really had any time at all to think about it.

For a while Kathlyn worked in silence, applying several different salves she had already been carrying in her backpack, not all of them fit the injury as well as she had wanted but it would take her several hours to make new salves better suited to the injury and the difference in result would be minimal. She pushed herself close to the limit of the amount of magic she could use, combining the effects of her healing magic itself with the salves to speed up the recovery process.

She stepped back after about twenty minutes, wiping her forehead with her sleeve. The injury itself only looked a little bit better but Kathlyn was confident it would be fully healed in a day or two if she reapplied the salves the next morning. "I'm sorry to say but that's all I can do for you right now, I need to reapply the salves tomorrow morning so please come find me then," She said, expression and tone uncharacteristically stern. "I will be at the front desk."

"Of course, that's part of what I'm here for miss..."

"Just Ymir is fine," she said, waving away the formality.

"Yes, I've been working here as Miss Azalea's assistant since this morning. I came here to look for work as a healer but the guild didn't have much need for another dedicated healer so I got to work as miss Azalea's assistant instead, I have quite a bit of experience helping my father run his shop. I did spend most of my time growing up in the woods though, so perhaps you could say I'm something of a plant."

"Uh, sure," she said. Not quite the same thing... She spared a glance towards the walking bramble bush, whose appearance grew more and more unruly by the day. When Azalea had first arrived at the guild she'd looked somewhat normal, almost as much as Kathlyn. Only as the years progressed did the signature, plant-like appearance begin to develop. Ah great, now she's coming over.

"I apologize for not noticing you had an injury like this sooner."
Ymir glanced back as Kathlyn began to fuss about again, pulling her goggles down and getting to work. "There's a few things I can do but even if I work on it with my full capabilities it will take at least two days to fully recover. My magic and medicine can do quite a lot but I sadly can't work miracles. I'll give it my all though."

Nice to know I'll keep it. Substitute limbs weren't uncommon--not with how many adventurers lost their arms or legs out on the field--but Ymir was rather attached to her own. With the amount of times she'd nearly lost her limbs one would think she'd pay more concern to the thought, but honestly, at this point she was certain if she somehow died someone would drag her back to be revived anyway. She'd learned comrades could be rather stubborn in that respect.

"This is going to hurt a bit but I have to numb that foot or what follows next will hurt way more." Ymir wasn't about to argue. She winced at the needle they decided to stick in, though any discomfort was quickly overridden by displeasure at a different presence.

Azalea stopped nearby, crossing her arms. "You're back."

Ymir shrugged, holding up a bloodied braid. "Ice cyclops. Gave us some trouble before Leo put it to sleep."

"Have you informed the outpost?" Their expression barely changed, which was something that annoyed Ymir to no end. They were always like that--face etched into a permanent scowl. The only emotion they seemed capable of outside ambivalence was annoyance.

No, Ymir did not have issues with authority figures. They had issues with her. She huffed, drawing a knee up to her chest as Kathlyn continued working on the other leg. "As you might have seen, we weren't in much of a state for reporting missions."

"Don't get defensive. I just needed to know whether to send them a message."

"I'm not defensive!" she snapped. Azalea raised a brow, but Ymir hardly seemed like backing down. "I just don't like being lectured for half a clock after I get back."

"I've barely said a thing to you, Ymir-"

It might've gone further, but a head of blonde hair popped up between them, Kathlyn pulling the goggles off her forehead as she addressed Ymir. "I'm sorry to say but that's all I can do for you right now. I need to reapply the salves tomorrow morning so please come find me then. I will be at the front desk."

Ymir stared, seeming unconvinced of something as she glanced between the stern blonde and the aggravated brunette. There's two...

"Yeah, alright,"
she muttered. Azalea said something else to the girl but Ymir had already zoned out. They needed a fighter on the team, she'd decided. Leo had good control over his air affinity, but he wasn't a heavy hitter, and she mostly used her wind for mobility. Even if they were meant to focus more on exploration, they'd encounter powerful enemies, and not every battle could be avoided. It would be ideal if they had an air affinity to use the gliders..

Prying open the top of her bag of holding, Ymir finally shoved the braid inside. Left alone with her thoughts she set the satchel and her bandaged foot up on the broken table, content to wait until Leo woke from his slumber.

Ymir was as petty as ever. Azalea sighed, moving to help Kathlyn clean up her materials. The girl had done a good job for being put on the spot. It was evident she'd come prepared for a great deal of situations, though perhaps being a receptionist wasn't among the expected outcomes.

"You may have to chase Ymir down yourself," she said to the side. "She has a habit of avoiding unpleasant things." Azalea wanted to believe they had at least a smidgeon of self-preservation, but it seemed to be at war with their desire for independence. Perhaps they'd listen to Kathlyn. The new clerk was much more spirited than Azalea. More suited to a place with so many unique characters...

Speaking of those- Azalea frowned, staring across several tables to where the strange newcomer continued to levitate several feet off the floor. Their position hadn't changed and Azalea was in no rush to interfere with it--arcane magic had a tendency of blowing up in people's faces, and even if whatever they were doing wasn't arcane, it sure looked like it had the potential to go horribly, horribly wrong--she was sure Pri would intervene if their actions posed much of a threat anyway.

"For now you should rest," Azalea said, turning back to Kathlyn. The girl seemed as upbeat as ever, but Azalea was no stranger to the subtle creep of exhaustion. "You used a lot of energy in healing those two, and you weren't exactly running on much when you got here." Right on time, she saw Elias swinging out of the kitchen between orders. She waved him down, hoping they'd notice. Things had returned to normal after the commotion in the morning, the staff back to taking orders and bringing out meals at a hectic pace.

"Would you mind bringing us some fruit?" she'd asked the chef if he noticed, otherwise she'd just flag down someone else. The natural sugar might help with the immediate loss of energy. They could get something substantial later, after the hall had calmed down for the day.

Up the path to the guild, pattering along the worn trail bordered by mossy stone and underbrush, a set of small feet came a running. Milby charged ahead with all the determination of one setting off on a mission, not returning from one, her weapons clinked at her side. Her beady eyes lighting up as she spied two familiar outlines on the path ahead. One tall and foreboding, the other perhaps more impressive for the bulk of armour covering their frame.

"Hark!" From up ahead, one might hear a raucous squeak of a cry, before a grey blur shot past to land eye-height on a large, adjacent rock. Milby spun around, drawing her toothpick sword with a toothy grin. "Who goes there? Friend or foe?! State your business--lest you face the dreaded wrath of Milby the Bandit King!!"

The guild was still a little ways ahead, the front doors of it in sight. One could, on consideration, simply walk past the rock with its sword-brandishing miscreant. Of course anyone with an iota of experience with the creature knew it wouldn't stand to be ignored for long.

Leonidas was having an all-around good time, the guild had seemed a little strange at first but the more he drank and talked with Ymir the less he wondered about it. He was just about to start on what would be his third pint of beer when he noticed someone approaching him.

"You are Mister Hood, correct?" He nodded. "That would be me, you in need of some poetry? Or do you need some help in placating your emotions?" He asked with a grin, putting the pint down in front of him and turning to face the woman. "I think it's up to us to deal with this quest, an adventure, if you will" Leonidas narrowed his eyes ever so slightly. "You'll have to explain what you mean in more detail."

"One of the Astronomers Guild Telescope ran out of energy, they comissioned us to reactivate the power stone. They suspect that was some kind of monster that knocked it out of the socket. However, they said that if the stone was destryoed, we should use the other one that they will give us." Now this... was odd. "Okay first of all," Leonidas started. "Who exactly are you? And what do you mean they commissioned us to reactive a power stone?" He asked, confusion visible on his face.

Leonidas couldn't really imagine anyone would specifically commission him for a quest. For a therapy session or as a substitute for the usual tavern bard? Sure. For a quest that sounded reasonably combat-based? No. The only reason anyone would specifically ask for him to complete a quest would be if they somehow knew about his past connections and affiliations but Leonidas was reasonably sure that no one in the guild knew more about his past than Ymir and all Ymir knew was some very fragmented information about the fact that he had received sword training and had a sister.

And even if they did know about his past, why would anyone commission him to go on a quest together with someone he had never met before, the things that had seemed suspicious about the guild hall earlier slowly pushed themselves back into his memory. "You sure you're asking the right person? I doubt anyone would specifically commission a random iron-ranked adventurer with low combat power for a quest." He picked the pint back up. "I don't want to seem rude but the whole thing seems awfully suspicious to me, I'm really not looking to get mugged or murdered after I just escaped that hellish ice cavern."

Zale Liron
Mentions Seraph Darkfire, Chinchia anyone else in the hall

Zale listened and watched, pausing to set the rat on the desk, Shadow took his cue and scampered off; he would reappear when they returned later and things were quiet he knew. They nodded but didn't speak it wasn't like anyone could hear them over the sounds in the hall and they didnt speak much, words where hard enough without the sound. “That makes sense “ Zale said when he spoke about how to pick a team. Zale was sure they would . The hole in the roof was rapidly growing darker as they all spoke. When she shoved the quest at Vas’on, Zale perked up. The words over quick and dark woods at night stuck out.

When she reached out to pull the hood over them he flitched a little.
. "You hang on to Vas'on for the first teleport. If you're connected then you won't be separated by the waystone when you land. He'll explain the rest once you're there." The tall youth shifted closer to her. Letting out a soft chuckle as she mentioned keeping an eye on the teen. Zale had a feeling they might end up keeping track of them

"Waystones are simple to use and generally do not fail to go where you want them to, at least as long as you don't go messing with the magic they are comprised of. They will teleport anything touching the user...within reason." Zale nodded and listened as he spoke to them and reach for his own way stone and put it back in the bag. Zale nodded have a clear picture, “Clear picture no wandering I got it” Zale chuckled, “I’m Ready “ and reached out to touch the man as he activated the waystone.

There was a door. It was a rather normal door to everyone who walked around in the Guild. The only peculiar thing about this door was the strange symbols seemingly burned into its surface. Runic symbols that were carved into a circle, interlaced with swirling and jagged patterns. In the very center of these symbols was the image of a dragon that wrapped around a central image, biting at its own tail. In the very center was a pattern that was up to debate as to what it represented but if you asked the owner of this symbol, he'd say it was a draconic stick figure.

"See, these two lines are the wings and the triangular shape at the top is the head" he would say with pride and if you asked what the triangle at the bottom represented "It is his hoard. Small but growing"

Many adventurers who'd been in the guild for long enough knew where this doorway led. It did not lead to another storage room such as the one to its right.

When opened, the door led to a rather strange room. A room filled with magical objects of various strengths, dolls, daggers, rings, and various other objects that could aid a wandering adventurer. In all regards, it seemed to be the front of any other shop, though oddly it was in the back of the Guild's main hall. Even weirder, it had windows that looked out into a forest. Windows that definitely shouldn't have looked out at anything but the inside of the Guild building and a forest that was definitely not the one where the Guild was located.

Of all the oddities in this room as well as outside of it, the greatest one was the shopkeeper standing behind the front desk. Red scales, long face, horns upon his head, and sharp angled eyes that watched any and all people that stepped through his shop. A Dragonborn. Once the initial fear was passed, one would find this creature amicable to those seeking to purchase an item. If you had the coin, he could see you something that matched your rank.

If anyone were to ask, Azalea could easily tell them about this creature, including his name Merkon. He both sold and bought objects with varying degrees of magical effects. It was were the guild got a majority of its beginner gear in fact. Merkon gave her a discount in exchange for allowing adventurers to enter his shop and purchase items. He also made a mean cup of tea for those who were his friends and confidantes.

However, to those who would steal from his shop...a Dragon's wrath was something you did not want.

Eiru Eagna
Gold Rank Support

Just as Ymir's bandaged foot came to rest upon the table with a loud 'thunk' a flash of light burst forth from the seat opposite the mapmaker. When the light came to fade and the mapmakers vision readjusted to the room Eiru could be found sitting in that very seat, her bag resting aside her on the floor and her broom laying inanimate against the table leg. With a loud sigh, Eiru moved to lean forward, catching her chin in her open palm as she lay lamely against the table using her elbow for support. "Really Ymir? Your manners have declined so much you'll happily throw your feet upon a table others eat from now? This is why you can't find a suitor you know. That and your obvious fetish for maps and the like."

Eiru gazed lazily at the mapmaker before offering her a smile "You look like you're having about as good a day as I am. All be it you seem more physically beat up than mentally. Care to share with a friend? A non-map friend..." A soft chuckle escaped the faes lips as she added the last part but unfortunately, Eiru's laughter was cut short when she noticed Azalea's gaze fall upon her. This was going to be fun...

Shifting her gaze to Azalea Eiru decided it best to preemptively strike and so she called out to the woman from afar "Azalea... Fancy seeing you here haha... look... I might have lost the prince... BUT I completed the mission... Granted there were a lot of setbacks and I may have quite-possibly-more-than-likely-positively dishonoured one of the Guards Generals giving said block head family yet another reason to absolutely hate my guts... BUT as I said mission completed! Yay... woohoo... Why aren't you woohooing... I'm sensing a lack of woohooing here...".

Eiru moved to lean back in her chair before correcting her posture and sitting upright. Taking a more serious stance with the receptionist "Alright look." Eiru retrieved a set of three sealed scrolls from her bag and placed them upon the table "The quest that was given was considerably understated. The danger levels DRASTICALLY understated. This first scroll contains the after-action report and the general's acknowledgement of quest completion. This second scroll contains a personal evaluation of the current situation in Solmar and the crypts below as well as my observations and insight into said current happenings. Of course, it's all more or less guesswork due to the rapid pace in which events transpired but I suspect even with that in mind my assumptions are close to the reality. Finaly this damn third scroll... you know... I really hate nobles! This third scroll is from the Arcane Family's research institution and it details all the information they had in their library pertaining to the area, I shortened said information down into a single scroll of personal footnotes. Yeh you're welcome. Anyway its a mess, the whole things a mess. A gold rank quest? Yeh sure and Ymir here's got a harem! I recommend Pri looks into this personally and revaluates the situation. We may need to issue an emergency quest. A gateway to the underworld is not exactly ideal in this day and age..... And I've lost you haven't I? OHHHHH the prince! Yeh I don't know where he went. I mean he made it back to the outpost alive... maybe he died on his way out. I don't know. Anyway that idiots no longer my issue! Nor is this quest. NOW! If youuuulllll excusssseeeee me! I have to help out dear little Ymir here!"

Eiru Leaned in close to Azelia and spoke quietly "I think she got into another fight with the ground while gliding... that or one of her maps gained sentience and rebelled against her and her weird attraction to them-it-they? I hoping for the second...".

And with that Eiru Leaned back into her slouched position and returned her gaze to Ymir "Come now, tell me.. what happened, whats on your mind"

Kathlyn only noticed the fact that her boss had walked over after she had given Ymir instruction to come back the next day, having been too absorbed in her medicine and magical treatment of Ymir's foot to notice earlier. She didn't pay too much attention to the fact that the two senior members of the guild were glaring at each other and turned to Ymir, the stern expression replaced with her usual bright smile.

"I will see you tomorrow morning! Your boyfriend's treatment went well, I can't predict when exactly he'll wake up though." Kathlyn said absent-mindedly, stuffing some of the tools she had used back in her backpack. She paused for a moment, processing what she had just said before her cheeks flushed crimson. "I-I'm sorry! That was a weird assumption to make! I'll make sure it doesn't happen again!" She hurriedly blurted out, grabbing the remainder of her things at record speed, shooting her boss a thankful glance when she moved over to help out.

After giving Ymir one final small bow and another two apologies Kathlyn followed behind Azalea, leaving her patient alone. "You may have to chase Ymir down yourself," Kathlyn nodded slightly. "She has a habit of avoiding unpleasant things." She smiled. "It would be a lot more unpleasant for her if she didn't go, once the painkillers wear off she'll probably be in quite a bit of pain." Kathlyn explained. "I'll keep it in mind though, thank you."

"For now you should rest," Kathlyn wanted to refuse. She wanted nothing more than to say that she was completely fine and hop back behind the counter but truthfully the extensive use of her magic and intense focus had left her both mentally and physically drained. "You used a lot of energy in healing those two, and you weren't exactly running on much when you got here." She nodded. "I am a bit exhausted yes." Kathlyn reluctantly admitted.

She glanced over at Ymir, who now seemed to be talking with someone Kathlyn hadn't seen before, she could only assume it was another senior member of the guild. She briefly wondered if she was so tired that she hadn't notice them coming in through the front door or if they came to the hall through different means. She slightly shook her head, that wasn't really important now. Azalea had told her to rest so she should focus on that.

In the meantime, Azalea had waved over the cook Kathlyn had met earlier. "Would you mind bringing us some fruit?" Kathlyn smiled. "That would be great, I'll go sit down behind the front desk." Even though she was exhausted, she still didn't want to completely abandon her place behind the front desk, especially because she had become this exhausted because of something that wasn't technically her job.

She plopped down into the chair behind the front desk, quickly scanning the guild hall and sighing in relief when she confirmed that no one new had come in while she was busy providing treatment. She slightly leaned back and let her eyes rest for a moment, determined to use her hearing to check if someone new walked into the hall.

Mentions @Chinchia (Milby), @Ginko The Mushishi

Logan’s trip away had spent what money he had had on hand, the tall human was ready to get back and make some money, he needed to do some repairs on this bow before that. He had just enough money to make a stop to buy the things he would need to fix it and craft a new bunch of arrows. He could have paid for it or enlisted someone in the guild to do so but he preferred to do it himself if he could. It helped him keep in touch with his roots. Logan listened and looked ahead wandering through the woods. He saw something and ducked into the shadows they bent around him with little mind power. That's when he heard the sound of Milby’s voice and he held even more still. He heard footsteps.

"Name is Ereshkigal. They didn't exactly commisioned us per se, they've commisioned the guild." Leonidas took a sip of his drink before setting the pint back down with considerable force. "Yes I assumed that much. So I also assume there is a reason that you came to me instead of one of the far more capable and less intoxicated members of the guild?" Truth be told, Leonidas was far from drunk, it would take a good few pints more before he would be truly drunk but he just didn't really feel like going on a quest right now.

"I suppose that i owe you a explanation. I was talking with Azalea before, we analyzed this job." Leonidas nodded and motioned for the other to go on. " The monster mentioned before is probably the defense mechanism, and they probably uses Tonal Architecture." Leonidas just took another sip, he figured his confusion on what exactly tonal architecture was clear enough without him having to ask about it. "You are the key."

Leonidas set his pint down with a sigh. "And why exactly is that? Because I can sing slightly less out of tune than literally everyone else currently present? It doesn't take a genius to sing a few tunes in a bar for a bit of extra gold, sure I'm somewhat well versed in poetry but I'm not some sort of tone wizard." He swept a few strands of hair out of his face. "Listen, as much as I like you stroking my ego by telling me I'm the key I'm not exactly interested in being the chosen one or the protagonist of any story right now."

The woman continued her explanation without as much as pausing on his words. "I bet someone tried to enter this place without the key and triggered the defense mechanism... Those astronomers are not tonal architects, neither do i... however if they contracted some random bard from the nearest tavern, they would probably lost more than they already had." Leonidas clicked his tongue. "Neither am I, I'm just a guy who sings a few songs in taverns every once in a while and tells magic poems. I'm not some genius in magic, my magic works because it works, I don't know how or why it works."

"As the guild was already paid for the work, and we have a bard on the house, we can deal without a direct combat. I think those astronomers view the entire guild reputation as a whole." He sighed. "I get the feeling you aren't really listening to me," He muttered. "I don't mean to be rude but all of that kind of sounds like a real snooze-fest. I just got back from a quest and I'm not exactly strapped for cash at the moment, I'm not really jumping in excitement at the prospect of a new quest."

He picked up his drink again. "If they pay me enough gold to buy a mansion I'll consider it but seeing as the thought alone of a job like this paying me enough to survive for a week let alone buying a mansion is laughable I think I'll pass. Unless there's something else interesting to gain in which case, do tell me. If not, thanks for the offer but you can just get anyone else here to sing the few tones you need."
