You are a denizen of the wonderful and horrible world of Duogenesis. A strange place where two worlds exist as one. In school you were taught about the Great War 2000 years ago where a tumultuous civilization found itself caught in a dispute over how to solve the growing issue of the energy crisis. Resources had become limited and one side saw a complete overhaul of society and a drastic cut in the population as the answer, while the other saw ingenuity and the natural development of science solving the problem. Eventually this devolved into violence that threatened to end all life in the world until the faction of Ingenuity, The Traxians, seemingly vanished. The opposing faction, The Drexel, chalked it up as a victory and enacted their plans of rebirth from the ashes.

However their victory was false, the Traxians hadn’t lost but instead made a way for both sides to achieve their victories. They had developed a strange parallel world linked to their own world and yet separate. It was a lush forested version of DuoGenesis about five million years behind where intelligent life had yet to spring up. They went to work promptly building a utopia, with no form of regulations on science and no over arching bureaucratic processes to stifle progress the Traxians were able to advance at an alarming rate. They developed matter manipulation technologies, super conductors, perpetual motion machines, and even warp technology. Yet all this growth was manageable thanks to the order it developed effectively rendering the hurdles in their way as moot. None were without their essential needs, all had access to education and healthcare that was without corruption. Each individual was their own free sovereign being with the resources and ability to change things limited only by their own genius and inventiveness.

Drexel on the other hand would face its own obstacles but would in their own way carve out their place in the world. After the Great War there came a great purge where 50% of the remaining population was slaughtered to conserve resources. Needless to say this was a one generation solution and not one anyone was willing to repeat so they were quick to develop space travel technologies. In the next fifty years they would send out several colony vessels each holding nearly 100,000 lives. Of the thirteen sent only two would find habitable worlds and the others would perish prompting the development of better terraforming technology and cryosleep capsules. They would go on to colonize several planets and encourage population growth with payments for each child born. The rate of population growth would expand to a point where each generation that passed would be a new world filled, then two worlds, then four. The Drexelians decided that such a growth rate was unmanageable, soon population would be growing faster than their technology could reach new worlds. Yet a strange old theory was brought back to life, a theory created to explain random surges of energy on the world of Duogenesis a theory that said the idealistic Traxians had not been destroyed but somehow left the dimension.

The Cathedral was created and research into these energy signatures began, after nearly seventy years they managed to identify the signature and with enough research and a worlds worth of resources they managed to poke a hole between the two dimensions and the first “raid” was launched. Having a surplus of colonists with no world to go to in their dimension at least, they sent the entire colony crew along with enough excess men to stave off overpopulation for a good couple of decades. Nearly five hundred million people came through in massive ships and engines of war. It was the single largest army the Traxians had ever seen, and even with their greatly advanced technology they struggled to repel the invading horde of Drexelians. Mainly due to a lack of military technology as they hadnt seen warfare in a millennium. Yet the vastly superior individual Traxians were able to make up for the deficit, their genetic modification technology made them stronger, faster, tougher, and more intelligent than their attackers. It took them about a half a year but eventually they adapted to the enemies tactics, weaponized several pieces of technology, and were able to force the remaining invaders off of their world.

Another ten years have passed since the first invasion, and the Traxians have finally finished their response. They have trained over a million of their citizens to be soldiers, and prepared several forward teams to infiltrate the Drexelians civilization and discover wether or not they need to be ready for another invasion, while most think it is inevitable some believe that with so many of the Drexelians slain in the invasion they must have been set back at least a little bit...sadly the former seems to be more correct. Drexel has officially cancelled all colonization efforts and has instead begun to take the newest generation and train them for the sole purpose of invading the world of Traxia. You now find yourself on either side of this conflict, either a part of one of the Traxian Forward Units, or a soldier in the Drexelian invasion force. You either fight to preserve the paradise you and your predecessors have built, or are fighting to ensure a brighter future for your people. Which side will you choose and where will you wind up? Whatever the choice may be, just know, as with all of history, many lives will soon be lost for the perceived “Greater Good.”
