The Gods of Tilnholm

The World

In the jungle of Braga a human kingdom known as Brindenholm dominates, these men and women are relatively new to the land only using the land for a few hundred years, they are lead by the monarchy of house Brinden. The jungle kingdom is an oasis surrounded by harsh landscapes, to the south and west lay the Ghareev mountain range, to the North lay the Badlands, and to the East rests the Lindel sea the ocean that brought the humans to this land all those years ago. The humans brought with them their traditions and beliefs, mainly their gods. The Jungle of Braga is odd in the way that there seems to be a divine energy there that seems to bring these gods to life, the people of Brindenholm were quick to go into a state of religious revitalization.

The Divine Warriors

The Divine Warriors are a group of fighters who have been blessed by the gods with some form of power. At first this was random, every now and then a man would appear with some exceptional power given by one of the gods, but in recent history a ritual has been set up in temples which are built throughout the jungle, when a young man, or young woman comes of age they are brought to these temples where they are either claimed as a patron by a god and given a power, or they are simply not chosen and they live the life of a normal citizen of Brindenholm. Of course if they are given power they are taken to a training ground to learn how to use it and to learn to be a Divine Warrior. Where they can use their power in the might of King Brinden’s will.

The Gods

Staravis

Staravis is the god of war, combat, and all forms of battle. He is normally depicted as a large well-muscled man with a bush of braided facial hair, he is usually seen wearing a two horned helmet, as well as red iron armor. He is said to have eyes as red as blood and to be so strong that he is unstoppable in battle, in spite of Staravis’s ferociousness in war he is seen as a Guardian deity, and most places of training for battle are decorated with his mark, and it is not uncommon for a shield to be decorated with his visage.

Halda, Korvi, Nama, and Teriti

The weather Deities are normally lumped together when it comes to being talked about or to have their marks emblazoned on something. Halda is the goddess of the sun, she is thought to bring about fair weather, and good luck, she is also thought to possess amazing beauty and a good nature. Korvi is the god of thunder and lightning, bringing with him angry storms that can destroy entire forests, he is said to be the opposite of Halda. Where she is beautiful and good natured he is abysmal to look at and quick tempered. Nama is the god of the rain, said to work closely with Korvi and be a somber god. Last of all there is Teriti the goddess of the wind another good friend of Korvi she is just as fast as the wind she embodies.

Verdan

Verdan is the god of forging, he is said to be the one to craft the weapons and armor of the other gods. He is seen as a heavy set man but not depicted as fat by any means, it is said that Verdan is the cleverest of all the gods. It is also said that he is one of the strongest, with one of the most told stories being that of the contest between Verdan and Staravis of which one of them is the stronger.

Benada

Benada is the goddess of plant life, she is widely loved as it is her who blesses the farmers and brings about a good harvest, not only is she loved by the workers of the land Benada is seen as a goddess of medicine as she is responsible for the bringing about of herbs, it is said that in the center of Braga she grows a grove full of divine plants with properties unknown to the mortal mind. Many an adventurer has searched for this grove only to never be seen again.

Ghareeva

Ghareeva is the goddess of the hunt and of beasts. She is said to be a human from the neck down but to have the head of a tiger. She is not widely worshipped nor loved by the human race, as she is the mother of the Tigrin race. She is known to carry a three pronged hunting trident, representing three virtues bravery, strength, and diligence. One of the only situations where Ghareeva is celebrated by the human race is her maternal nature, Ghareeva rarely bestows power to humans, Ghareeva is thought to be the oldest god as she seemed to inhabit Braga before humans set foot upon the land.

Borbaba

Borbaba is the god of celebration, he is said to be clean shaven and to have a rather large belly. He is almost never depicted without his drum nor without a good jubilant air about him. Never a festival passes by that lacks any sort of representation of Borbaba god of celebration.

Taravus

Taravus is the god of the afterlife, more specifically he is the god of a torturous afterlife. Taravus is over all of the dead but unfortunately there are more stories of him punishing those who have sinned in their life, than there are of him rewarding those who were virtuous in their lives. Taravus does not have a human like depiction he is seen as a hunched figure covered in a hooded shroud. It is said that any person who is shown the face of Taravus will immediately die so most depictions simply leave the god of the afterlife faceless.

Other Races

Tigrins

Tigrins are the children of Ghareeva, they share her beastly head and they are taller then humans. Tigrins and humans have a violent past with every time a peace agreement is made one side always seems to break it. In recent years the Tigrins are led by war chief Varango, a Tigrin who claims to be the son of Ghareeva herself. The Tigrins live in the Ghareev mountain range, a territory named after their divine mother and they violently punish any human who enters their territory.

Earthling

Earthlings are beings which stand at about waist height for a human, every Earthling has a sort of elemental affinity, which is mostly shown by their midsection. Some Earthlings have a midsection made of stone, others of fire, etc. Earthlings are a rare thing to encounter they rarely gather, and they only exist in the Badlands, a highly unstable inhospitable land filled with man eating monsters created by the dark gods which are widely worshipped by the Earthlings.

Out of Character Information

This is an RP I just sort of thought of and I thought it’d be good fun to make. No post requirement except of course no one liners. I am completely fine for people to make up their own gods for the roleplay, so long as they make sense in the world, if you have any questions for the RP feel free to ask them, and if this gets enough attention then I will make a Character Sheet.
