Name: Archer Johnathon

Gender: Male

Age: 17 physically, actually in his late fifties.

Sexuality: Doesn’t know or care at the moment.

Personality:

Professional to the core. Archer has a strict, military outlook, and is dedicated to the idea of order and stability. He can’t stand insubordination or unprofessional behavior, and the quickest way to make yourself hated is to be “a fool”, in his words. Archer dislikes people who don’t take GHOUL or its purpose seriously. He also hates disordered and filthy living spaces in general.

Archer has been in GHOUL almost since its inception, and serves with unusual intensity. He constantly strives to be better, and to be worthy of the power he holds. Although he appears to be stoic and apathetic, he has another side. When Archer fights, he casts aside his facade. He doesn’t fight to win, he fights to absolutely crush any resistance, past or future. He firmly believes in peace through strength.

He also has dark lines or grooves radiating from beneath his eyes. He’s about 5 foot 7, which he’s touchy about.



Background:

Born in New York, Archer was what one may call a problem child. He didn’t laugh, or cry, or talk until he was six. When he was three, he was fascinated with dangerous things like knives and scissors. When he was eleven, he was suspended for fighting. Archer kept on this path, causing trouble and getting involved with street gangs. When he was seventeen, on December 12th, he got into an argument with a friend on a bridge. Knives were drawn, and both were fatally wounded. They fell off the bridge, plunging into the frozen waters of the Hudson River.

There they both died.

Archer was resurrected by Ymir, who saw in him a rage it liked. A few weeks later, Archer joined GHOUL, and tried to make himself into a better person.



Spirit Name: Ymir, the Screamer

Spirit Personality: A chaotic lunatic, dedicated to spreading madness and disorder. It’s more animalistic than human, and its morals are not compatible with a human’s. Ymir spends most of its time dormant, only activating when its host is endangered. It doesn’t seem to like or dislike Archer, only interacting when it’s bored.

Spirit Mark: A set of radiating grooves beneath the eyes. They grow darker and steam when Ymir is active. When the Power is activated, they grow to cover the entire body and glow white-hot.

Spirit Domain: Metamorphosis

Power:

When Archer is injured or threatened, his Power activates. His Spirit Mark glows white hot and etches itself across his body like a map of his nervous system, and in a blast of orange lightning he creates a thirty-foot body. He is ensconced between the shoulder blades, deep within the torso. The body is half-skinless, with the upper half of his head being a skull and the lower jaw has a thin layer of skin and muscle. Lanky black hair hangs in front of the empty eye sockets. His torso and upper limbs have skin, but his forearms and from the knee down are bare muscle and bone. This body can rapidly heal, unless his human body is severely damaged (such as a gunshot to the torso).

After a few hours of strenuous activity, such as combat, Archer can’t use his power for days. It drains much of his strength, and if he’s already heavily injured he can’t transform. His main strength in this giant form is his physical prowess, and he can maneuver effectively in most situations.

    Name: Joseph Wright

    Gender: Male

    Age: 23, recently deceased

    Sexuality: Heterosexual

    Personality: Joseph is very mischievous and always playing a character. It's hard to tell when he's not playing a character and he gets a lot of joy out of getting on other people's nerves. He acts very smug often and is extremely egotistical. When he's not trying to get on your nerves, he can act rather jovial and energetic. He enjoys the company of others and hates being alone, the idea of being alone frightens him. Even though he likes messing with people, he's smart enough to recognize when to leave someone alone. Joseph is wary of relationships as his last one was extremely toxic for him. It takes a while for him to warm up to you but he's a loyal friend once he does.

    Appearance: Joseph has blonde hair and brown eyes, his face is clean shaven, not a hair in sight. He stands tall at 6'3 and his build is slim with slight muscle tones. He tends to wear jackets and long pants becoming a staple look for himself.

    Background: Joseph hails from the American Midwest, being born in the city of Omaha in Nebraska. From a young age, Joseph was always the troublemaker in and out of class, often getting him into fights. Nothing of noteworthiness happened during his younger days. In high school, Joseph became an avid biker. He worked many jobs so he could afford one. He purchased his first one on his first year out of high school, now working as a cook at a local restaurant. He worked there for many years till a tragic accident occurred. When Joseph was riding on the highway, a deer darted in front of his motorcycle and he swerved to avoid it. He lost control of his bike and was flung onto the asphalt, his body smashing against the roads at high speeds. He didn't immediately die, dying on the way to the hospital.

    During that time, Joseph felt he was stuck in a perpetual dream. That was when he met his spirit, Atlas. Atlas deemed he and Joseph compatible and Joseph was confused at first but eventually realized the realness of everything once he woke up at the morgue. Luckily, it was closed so he wouldn't scare anybody by abruptly appearing. A mark was branded on his back but he felt no pain. The mark was one of a trident.

    Joseph found himself in a very confusing time, especially since he couldn't just appear to his family and show them he's alive. His spirit, Atlas, talked to him a lot and he could often be seen having conversations with himself. During this time, Atlas consoled him about his new powers and how they work, giving him a basic understanding of them. Joseph wandered and hitchhiked around the U.S until an organization GHOUL approached. Joseph quickly found himself getting himself into something he had almost no understanding of.

 
Name: Ava Hope

Age: 17

Sexuality: Asexual

Personality: Ava is a mediator. She's empathetic, compassionate, and kind, and does her best to de-escalate situations and help others where she can. She's an ambivert; sometimes she needs to be around others as a recharge, and requires human connections to stay happy, but other times people can be stifling and overwhelming, and she needs time to herself to breathe. On the morality scale she's best described as lawful good, and leans toward pacifism; she prefers to do everything she can to help people rather than to fight them. She can be a very stubborn person, which helps her to stick to her goals and push herself. She is, however, a bit of a pushover, with low self-confidence and self image issues. Some criticize her as being too passive, submissive, and people-pleasing.

She enjoys nature, hiking, and wilderness survival. She also likes to read, both fiction and nonfiction, and isn't much into television or tech stuff, though she doesn't have anything against it. She likes to cook, too, but she's not a very good one.

Ava has pale skin with freckles, short black hair with long bangs, and large, purple-grey eyes. She's very short, standing at 4' 10", and thin, and is often mistaken for a twelve-year-old. She wears large, often layered clothes for tops, like sweaters, hoodies, and jackets over shirts, and wears either shorts or occasionally skirts with leggings, with sneakers.

Background: Ava was born in Michigan and put into foster care as a baby. She spent her life in the system, swapping homes frequently with many rough experiences. Her height, aversion to fighting back, and refusal to follow popularity standards combined with her habit of stepping in to defend others made her a favorite target for bullies. Her habit of helping other troubled kids opened her up to more bullying and harsh behavior from those who lashed out in anger, but she endured and remained compassionate, and she helped to talk a lot of people down.

Ava always tried to be the change she wanted to see in the world, and had dreams of becoming a therapist or of otherwise helping people, and to someday be a foster or adoptive parent. She had high hopes and big plans for the future.

Her most recent foster family was a middle-aged man, Rick, with a wife and three younger children in an apartment in Detroit, Michigan. He was verbally and sometimes physically abusive, with a narcissistic and controlling attitude. His wife, Helena, managed to get a job of her own, which he only allowed as he was often out of a job and someone needed to pay the bills. In secret, she slowly squirreled away enough money until she could take the kids and leave him. Unfortunately, he found out before she was ready, and exploded in a violent rage. Deciding to permanently keep them from leaving, he started a fire in the apartment with plans to light the whole place up with them in it. Rick fought to keep them from leaving, but Ava was able to break out the children and send them for help. She herself returned for Helena, and managed to stun Rick by hitting him with a pot, allowing her foster mother to break free. Rick shoved her roughly in retaliation, and her head hit the counter, and she went down. She started to catch fire just as Helena grabbed her and dragged her out, with the help of neighbors who had just arrived. Between the severe head injury, burn wounds, and smoke inhalation, she didn't survive.

Spirit Name: Sloan (it's not her real one, but a human one she chose for Ava to use)

Spirit Personality: Chaotic, extravagant, confident, and assertive, Sloan is Ava's opposite in many ways. She's often insensitive and self-absorbed with a vicious side, and prefers far more flashy outfits than Ava likes. She smirks, she struts, and she's all-around over-the-top arrogance. She has a deeper side than her shallow surface, however, with a lot of personal issues considering she's of the domain of pain, and so suffered her entire life. She's touchy, protective, and possessive. She teases Ava frequently, especially about her age, though in spirit-age she's pretty much the same one (but Ava can't very well know, now can she? so Sloan pretends she isn't).

Sloan was drawn to Ava by Ava's experience with and resilience to pain, and her ability to still stay compassionate after experiencing it, which Sloan hoped would work as a sort of humanizing influence to her own darkness (Sloan plays it off like she doesn't care, and sometimes she doesn't, about other life, but the darkness inside her scares her a little). She also wanted to help Ava grow a spine, as she sees it, as she considers Ava far too passive. And she was bored, sick of simply hurting all the time, and found Ava a pleasant escape that was fun to tease. Because of Sloan's assertiveness and Ava's passiveness, Sloan has more control than many spirits over her host body on a regular basis. She's also very obnoxiously distracting.

Spirit Mark (Location and Description): Her mark is a pale purple-grey stain like a strange tattoo (or faded, mutated burn scar) and rests over her left arm, shoulder, chest, back, and neck, but can shift at Sloan's will. Her eyes also changed from blue to the same color.

Spirit Domain: Pain, specifically the region of experiencing (rather than inflicting) it. She is the daughter of the past spirit, through a sort of semi-reincarnation/cleansing ritual, and so is, in spirit-terms (for her domain, at least), young.

Power: Pain-sharing — the ability to share physical and psychological pain. It provides enhanced durability to take on other people's wounds to heal them, and empathy to absorb and heal negative emotions through overcoming them herself. It can be used both ways, however, and so is able to transfer her own pain (mental and emotional) on someone else, but Ava will only use it in extreme circumstances, and usually only because Sloan forces her to. The power allows her to feel, perceive, and slightly relieve negative emotions or physical pain faintly when around others, but the sensation strengthens dramatically with physical contact, especially skin-to-akin, which she requires to actually transfer physical or emotional wounds and to fully heal someone.

Role in GHOUL: Field agent; could function as a mediator/de-escalator and, in a pinch, a medic. While Ava's power can help her to be a good mediator, helping to soothe tempers and to heal others physically and emotionally, the flip side — that she takes their pain on herself — makes her vulnerable, and so she would work best with at least a partner.

  • Name: Sojiro Kuruma

    Gender: Male

    Age: 83 (Looks like he is in early 30's)

    Sexuality: Heterosexual

    Personality: Sojiro is a stoic and seemingly emotionless person. He embodies the definition of a neutral stance , constantly walking the line of good or evil. His main concerns are to keep the balance of the worlds in line and to live up to the directors high standards. He will go to almost absurd ends to meet his goals and his style of leadership is often seen as questionable by the other six branch chiefs. regardless of his leadership style he gets results that are acceptable in the eyes of the director.

    Sojiro stands at a respectable 6'2 and combine that with his menacing looking amber eyes, unfriendly scowl, and less then friendly attitude he can often be quite intimidating.

    Background: As one of the branch chiefs all of his information prior to joining GHOUL has been classified and locked away (TBR later in the RP). Sojiro has been a member of GHOUL since it's founding. He was not only one of the first members but one of the most important members. During the days when GHOUL was still a fledgling organization Sojiro was a field leader, taking control of operations that needed more then one agent. It would be the success that he had during these times and the close connection he had with the Director Henry Lough that would be his ticket to rising higher in rank. As GHOUL grew he was later assigned to missions through out Asia and he became very familiar with the different cultures and groups around the continent. When GHOUL eventually grew enough to expand out of Asia the reigns of branch chief were handed over to Sojiro.

    Spirit Name: Tsukuyomi

    Spirit Personality: Tsukuyomi is much like his Haunted, someone who has little concerned about what is wrong or right. This spirit took his duty of maintaining balance to heart and will ensure that the balance remains no matter the cost. He and Sojiro get along rather well as expected, after all Tsukuyomi sought out someone who had the same resolve that he did to become his Haunted.

    Spirit Mark: Sojiro's spirit mark is the entirety of his right hand. When he was brought back through Tsukuyomi's possession his hand turned a dark black like the night sky.
    Spirit Domain: Darkness

    Power: What little is known about Sojiro's power is that it is the power to turn light into darkness. Some say the power lets him consume light itself but the exact details are kept confidential.

    Role in GHOUL: Branch Chief #1, Chief of operations in Asia.

Name: Valentina (Val) Baker
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Description of Character: Valentina has long, wavy red hair that falls to the middle of her back. Her eyes are a soft violet color, and her skin is a pale ivory. At an average height of 5'5", her body is shaped like an hourglass. Valentina tends to wear things that flow, such as skirts and dresses. She is always seen with jewelry, and her shoes vary.

Personality: It's easy to bribe Valentina with good food, especially if it's homemade. She can be very clumsy and tends to get lost, mostly because she refuses to spend a lot of time trying to figure out her routes. Aside from that, she's loud and expressive, not afraid to hide what she's feeling. As a very touchy-feely person, she tends to forget that personal space exists and will completely overwhelm someone if she's excited. She hates being scolded, and has a tendency to become impulsive. Her motto is "why think about it when you can just do it, you can deal with the consequences later!" which, if you think about it, is very ignorant–but she's still alive (aha not really) so clearly it's working.

Background: As an only child, Valentina had a decent childhood. Both of her parents worked in the medical field, her mother (Alice) was a nurse, and her father (Jacob) was an EMT. With their jobs, it meant they couldn't spend as much time as they would like with their daughter, but they tried. Often, she was left with her Nanny (Georgia) and even though she would never admit it, Valentina considered her Nanny as more family than her parents. Georgia taught Valentina how to be humble, to appreciate everything she was given, and to always treat others with respect. The woman helped Valentina with school, relationships, and gave the best advice.

When Georgia became too old and had to retire, Valentina was already old enough to be on her own. She was fifteen, she couldn't stand not having anyone to talk to when she got home–Georgia had kept her company. She preferred staying at a friends house, only going home when her parents had time off. The friend, and the rest of their family, had eventually become everything to Valentina. They were her all, her family, people she trusted with her most deepest secrets. They fed her, made her happy, and gave her the attention she rarely received from her parents.

Of course, the best of things always have to end. A few nights after Valentina's 19th birthday, a group of people decided to rob her friends house. They didn't realize that, despite her friend's parents being gone, the two girls were inside and awake. When the group broke in, they were surprised to find two very terrified girls huddled together in the living room. The group held them at gunpoint, forcing the two to grab anything valuable and moving them to their vehicle. During their last walk outside, all but one of the robbers had stayed inside. Valentina and her friend had been carrying the last thing, a T.V, to the car, one of the unidentifiable men following behind them with a gun. They hadn't tried screaming, the silent tears and their fear prevented them from doing much of anything. When they set the television down, Valentina was able to restrain the man by sheer adrenaline and made her friend run to find help. Valentina has never been a big girl, nor was she any stronger than the next person, so it didn't take long for the man to hold her down and call for the others. They tried to find the friend, but she had disappeared into the night. Left alone, the group ended up killing Valentina. They were already at risk with one of the girls escaping, they weren't going risk getting caught if they let both live. Eventually, they would come back for the other girl and the rest of her family.


SPIRIT
Name: Oz

Personality: As a spirit, Oz is a neutral being. They offer advice, and keep Valentina as safe as they can. Not necessarily because they care about the girl, but they can't afford having their vessel dying on them. They tend to leave Valentina alone unless absolutely needed. Such as, if Valentina gets lost or decides to do something outrageously stupid.

Mark: Similar to a tattoo, her mark is a dragon surrounded by clouds. It resides on her right thigh, and has been seen slithering around on Valentina's skin, as if it were truly alive. That's the work of Oz, boredom has its perks.

Domain: Dreams.

Power: Dream manipulation – Valentina is able to enter ones dreams and she can either view them as they are, or manipulate them to what she wants them to see. Can be useful if she, or someone has been taken or they're in danger. It doesn't matter how far the person is, as long as she has a form of connection to them (If she's touched them, spoken to them, etc), she can get into their dreams.

Role in GHOUL: Home agent.
