As Global Warming continued to impact Earth's general climate, further deteriorating it, technology continued to evolve. These two factors combined allowed for untapped resource deposits around the north- and south poles as well as throughout the continent of Africa to be tapped and refined. Suddenly the global economy had dramatically changed and by the year of 2080 the European Union and the United Americas had both become premier players on the economic world-stage.
Meanwhile the African Union was enjoying a period of unrivaled growth and development as decades of foreign investments and intense UN peacekeeper missions finally paid off, uplifting most of the continent into a sort of "golden age" that could only be likened to the Industrial Revolution in size and magnitude.
Alongside these many changes came the decline of previous global leaders represented within different fields of exports and industries with- for example- China being forced to quickly adapt, spurring a sudden nationwide modernization of its massive industrial powerhouse in an effort to compete with the African Union.
CORPONATIONS
In the year of 2099 the Global Business Alliance would begin a new chapter in history after presenting a new proposal to the United Nation's general assembly. This loosely-organized coalition of some of Earth's biggest corporations wanted to (in short) ratify a motion that would allow private companies of larger sizes to be recognized as their own nations. By this time Earth's economy was booming despite widespread regional armed conflicts, border disputes and continued ecological depression. Upon presenting it the GBA would come under fire from both the UN as well as the general public with both parties being well aware that some of the largest corporations on Earth already bestowed a great deal of power.
Despite this general fear the UN was forced to cave as the general assembly could simply not muster enough support or power to prevent the corporations from having their way. Once ratified and signed some of the larger and more influential corporations would go ahead and form vast alliances and would even earn seats within the UN.
By 2105 'Megacorps' were all too common and with a majority existing within national borders all across the globe while others resided in artificial territories across international waters.
STARGAZING
As the world was drastically changing in more ways than once the European Space Agency, NASA and a long list of aerospace companies managed to send a manned expedition to the Moon in 2083. By 2089 this former expedition had grown into a rapidly growing colony and because of continued investments the colony ultimately transformed into the 'Lunar Colonial Zone' by the year of 2098. In 2105 Luna was covered in vast domed cities as well as expansive industrial zones shipping raw materials back to Earth.
At the same time Mars was also in the process of being colonized under the watchful eye of the United Nations. By 2115 Mars was also inhabited by a large number of colonists with the red planet holding invaluable worth to Humanity as a whole.
In theory this allowed some megacorps- assuming they had the resources- to start surveying and lay claim to their own systems. Despite this obvious risk the UN maintained that it would be more than capable of providing fair and critical oversight to corporate space ventures.
Furthermore, most megacorps are well aware that attempting to sidestep UN jurisdiction could lead to dire consequences and the loss of precious income- if you get caught.
Having earned worldwide fame for their sturdy, reliable and cost-efficient vehicles, tools and- lately- spacecraft THE has amassed a cult-like following throughout the business world that celebrate quality and endurance above flash and bling. Realistically most nations and corporations rely on something THE-produced, be it a reinforced shipping container, an autonomous truck or a power drill. THE came to be after several automobile companies joined forces after a breakthrough in cobalt mining across Africa allowed for further development of wheeled and tracked vehicles.
Red Rock Private Security
RRPS is a leading distributor of security services across Sol. Drawing from mostly ex-military Red Rock also trains its own contractors from non-military backgrounds. Aside from contractors it also offers threat analysis, corporate protection and alarm services. The BCC would select RRPS to be its primary security contractor responsible for staff and asset security partaking in extra-terrestrial investments and space-exploration.
Calypso Investments Inc.
The term 'secretive' is a clear understatement for this shadowy megacorp which labels itself as a 'specialist in global market investments and opportunities'. Several UN investigations have been launched against Calypso but all have fallen short of uncovering any possible dirt on the company.
Jansson & Söner AB
An alliance of companies and businesses from northern Europe, Jansson & Söner AB was initially a hedge fund before expanding into hostile takeovers of potential competitors and rivals. Nowadays the company own a significant portion of the European arms- and aerospace-industries.
Herschel Industrie und Entwicklung GmbH
Presenting itself as a company that manufactures and develop "industrial solutions" for a widespread market, HIE has come under fire repeatedly for using aggressive strip-mining methods to quickly extract resources across the surfaces of Luna and Mars which has been accused of permanently defacing both celestial bodies.
Warren & Sons Mining Equipment Inc.
Less controversial than its German counterpart, this British-American company bears the legacy of other former industry giants that once developed heavy equipment for mining. Thanks to the extensive development and extraction of deposits across the North Pole the company grew at an exceptional rate which allowed Warren & Sons to maintain enough power and resources to compete with HIE across the continent of Africa.
Shanghai Strategic Investments & Development
Made infamous and globally recognized through an intense period of constant hostile takeovers (among other things) the Shanghai Strategic Investments & Development group is a conglomerate of large and influential businesses across Asia. This multi-layered and adaptable corporate entity has refined the once great industries of Asia and turned its manpower into a force that rival multiple continents.
European Corporate Alliance
Operating around the Mediterranean, North Africa and Eastern Europe the ECA has earned a fortune through trade and asset management. Either lazy or incredibly clever the European Corporate Alliance seem to embrace the idea of pay-walling trade-routes, banks, warehouses and storage yards. After all, why let your competitor go over your head when you can offer better logistical services- for a price.
Bishop Global Armaments LLC
Be it bullets, firearms or military vehicles Bishop Global Armaments is currently based in Tharsis City, Mars where it has secured a major financial and industrial foothold far away from the prying eyes of the UN's general assembly. Widely known to provide both nations and corporations with military equipment BGA also prides itself in home appliances, communicators and heavily-armed hunterkiller drones used by secretive three-digit agencies.

THE ICCA
Formed as part of the United Nations' Colonial Development Act of 2132 the Inter-Corporate Colonial Administration- sometimes referred to as the 'Corporate Colonial Administration' or 'CCA'- was the Board of Corporate Cooperation's (the GBA's creepy stepson) primary measure to assert and project their own interests across the UN's interstellar colonies and manned space-exploration efforts. While originally only destined to provide the UN with the resources to facilitate further exploration of worlds beyond Sol the BCC were quick to push for the infamous 'Sixth Addendum' to include corporate-led missions in space with minimal UN-supervision.
In theory this allowed some megacorps- assuming they had the resources- to start surveying and lay claim to their own systems. Despite this obvious risk the UN maintained that it would be more than capable of providing fair and critical oversight to corporate space ventures.
THE UNITED NATIONS
In an age of unparalleled corporate expansion where some businesses rival with actual nations the primary mission of the United Nations has taken a bit of a backseat position as this already beleaguered global authority struggles to maintain control and insight over parties that crave privacy and red tape to further fiscal growth. Despite the poor odds many sub-organizations within the UN have been formed to observe and control with UNFCA, UNWPO and UNCDO working hand in hand to oversee and ensure the absolute legality of corporate ventures in and beyond the Sol system.
Furthermore, most megacorps are well aware that attempting to sidestep UN jurisdiction could lead to dire consequences and the loss of precious income- if you get caught.
