"I think I'm more likely to get mugged than get served a drink," Quaid said distastefully as he slid into the booth.

John Lachlan gave a faint smile at the mental image. He had only met Quail for the first time a few hours before but he had taken an instant dislike. The man was arrogant, obnoxious and thought he was a good deal cleverer than he actually was. Despite his faults, Quail was true in what he said about Pretty Jane's. The back alley tavern catered to a rough clientele of thieves, smugglers and freebooters. "I picked this place for a reason," John replied, his voice low as he looked up from his beer to the thin man sitting across from him. "The booths give us privacy to talk openly. You were quite open earlier that the job your employer was offering paid well-"

"- Beyond your wildest expectations -" Quaid interrupted excitedly before he was cut off by John raising a hand.

"Just tell me about it," John said, leaning back into his seat."

Quaid licked his lips as he leaned in. He looked to make sure no one was peering into their booth before fishing in his jacket pocket and producing a piece of black metal. Perfectly circular, the surface was covered in intricate patterns weaved on top of each other. "Pretty. "Where did you get that from?" John asked as he raised his tankard to his lips.

"Lurgon," Quaid whispered.

John choked on the beer as he drank. "Lurgon," he managed to get out after a few seconds of coughing.

Quaid nodded. "My employer wants you to escort a scientist there. There's rumours about an ancient artefact deep in the jungle. You take the scientist on your ship, retrieve it and bring it back to him."

"Lurgon," John repeated, as he blew out air between his lips. The vast uninhabited island lay of the South East Coast of Auris. No man went there but everyone knew the name. Hostile. Impenetrable. Populated by beasts so dangerous no one ever settled the island. "I think your employer is touched." John stopped to drain the rest of his beer. "No one would take a crew there. No matter how much -"

"-Fifty thousand sovereigns."

John felt his heart quicken. Surely he hadn't heard Quaid right. "Fifty thousand?" Quaid nodded, the ghost of a smile quirking his thin lips. John rubbed at his stubbled jaw. Fifty thousand. Enough money to set a man for life twice over, even after a crew took their cut.

"I know you're currently without a crew," Quaid said, as if reading his thoughts. "My employer is satisfied to leave recruitment up to you. A place like Rushport will have more than enough capable personnel looking to be put to work. The only thing we ask is you go within the week. We are not the only people who have heard about the artefact...."

John Lachlan is putting an expedition team together. A crew, brave enough and strong enough to travel to Lurgon and back.

Your character has recently been contacted Lachlan. The former Air Navy Officer has heard about your abilities and is keen to bring you on board. If interested, the expedition will be meeting before embarking on a trip to find possibly the most significant discovery since the Cryxn ruins in Espica.

If interested, please leave a message along with a brief character description of who you wish to play. All crew positions are open on Lachlan's ship including Pilot, Mechanic, Doctor and Fighters. We also have a scientists role to fill if anyone is interested in doing so.

Please note: I want this to be a reasonably detailed and literate rp and will be asking for a writing sample before character approval.

If interested, PM me or leave a message here.

Hello! This looks like it could be a lot of fun, I’m thinking I might be interested in the pilot position- My vague character concept is a young woman who was discharged from the Air Navy (under the ‘dishonorable’ category of dismissal) and has had trouble finding private jobs, as reputable ships are suspicious of her and less-than-reputable ships aren’t interested in hiring someone they think would rat them out. Her father might also have been a navigator/pilot and disappeared on a voyage to Lurgon, so she’s always wanted to see it herself, and find out if she could survive what he did not? But the details are pretty flexible at this point!

I do have a couple questions: Will this RP use stats/game mechanics, or will plot and conflict be driven mostly by what we write and your own plans about what the crew will find? What other sort of technology exists in this setting- Like, I’m imagining the airships have canons for example, but do they have things like force-field shields or communication consoles to hail other ships?

Very interested!! I would like to write a scientist or fighter, I'm not quite sure yet. I was thinking about either a slightly narcisstic scientist that has a passion for extremly dangerous animals and is an expert for flora and fauna on this island - or a small and athletic female fighter that is very good at material arts and fighting with daggers.

I'd love to take the scientist role! Currently at work so I can't post much but I can provide a character idea and writing sample tonight if that's alright?
