Mystics Apprentice

Colorfully Ecstatic Time Mage
In a steampunk era of an alternate 19th century, order within the land of Regalia has been ordained by the power of the four courts all following a unified law: Ignis, Somnum, Vivifica, and Umbra. The high priestess, Mabel, acts as an intermediary between them, passing upon her blessings and represents the non-magical folk of Regalia.

These four courts are run by mages: individuals gifted with the forbidden art of magic that is both a mystery and a curse to those within Regalia. A mage either lives a life of success and luxury, exalted by the masses within one of the courts, or must struggle to survive in the world on their own, unpracticed and unwieldy. The courts aid a mage in harnessing their raw magic and potential. An untrained mage is both useless and dangerous, and it is very hard for a mage to thrive on their own without a court to affiliate with. If one is found with a lot of magical potential, a court may come and present an offer to the mage, or this individual may go to one of the courts and prove themselves worthy of joining their ranks.

For centuries the land of Regalia has known naught but peace and prosperity, thanks to the order driven by the four courts, but what happens when one of them goes rogue? The Vivifica court has cut ties with the other three courts, and has been abandoning the laws and teachings that all the courts have vowed to uphold to. Further, Vivifica has been found dealing with Itika, raw mana found within the Valley of Magic that has been banned from Regalia. What reason could they have for doing this, and will the court have to be abolished? As you dig to answer this question, more questions may begin to unravel, causing you to question the very foundation that you have always known.

Technology abounds in Regalia, though it is powered via steam, and it is within the limitations of the 19th century. Guns (and gun blades) are present, as well as electricity, trains, and telephone booths, though cars are yet to be invented.

You can be a mage from one of the courts, or perhaps you are a mage who has decided to try to fight the odds and remain independent in the world. You may also not even be gifted with magic, living a normal life in Regalia until something about the courts causes you to change your mode of living for a bit more excitement.

Each mage court has its own set of characteristics. Depending on what sort of a mage you are and your morals, you would be best suited for one of the following. While one mage court may specialize in a certain type of magic, it is not required that you be in that court. If your personality, say, fits Umbra but you have healing magic, you could choose Vivifica and not fit int, or you could choose to stay in Umbra because it suits your nature, yet you will not be proficient in healing magic because you are untrained in it. If you are uncertain where your character would best fit you are welcome to leave this field blank and I’d happily choose a good fit. Descriptions for each court are as follows:

Ignis: The only court that believes in balance and actively teaches the art of the sword. The Ignis court is among the most duty bound, desirous to bring justice to the world and always do the right thing. Mages in the Ignis court specialize in fire and earth magic, often used to enhance their physical abilities and strength.
Umbra: Well-versed in necromancy and dark arts, the Umbra Court believes in living life to the fullest. These mages tend to be more self-centered and cater to their own needs as opposed to helping others. They tend to focus on the pleasures of life rather than have ambitious goals to aid in their society.
Vivifica: The mages in this court specialize in white and holy magic, though have skillsets in wind, lightning, and earth magic as well. Their slogan is to bring life to the world through love, and many mages within these houses will go above and beyond to help society, even if it bends or breaks tradition.
Somnum: A group that is calm and believes in a life of beauty and restoration. Some believe the Somnum court to be lazy, though this is not particularly true. Somnum possesses some of the most potent mages, specializing in lightning, water, and ice magic and have mastered the art of hypnosis. Status ailments come ready to these mages, making them unseeming yet deadly adversaries.

While it is not required that you are affiliated with a court, I would recommend that, unless you have a specific reason why your character isn't in one of the courts, you are apart of one. The reason for this is the central plot will revolve around members of these courts, and it may take a bit of additional work to get your character into the thick of the main plot without an affiliation.

Special note: You are welcome to affiliate yourself with Vivifica, and you do not have to be an antagonist to do so. I will be providing additional information to players who are choosing this court, so that they know what your character knows concerning the court's decisions.
Below is a character sheet for you to fill to tell me more about your character(s). There is no character limit at this point, though please only create as many characters as you feel that you can handle.

Quick note: I am hoping to get characters affiliated with each court. If it seems that too many characters are in one court and not enough in others, I may close out the possibility to join a specific court.

Background:

And last but not least, here are the rules for this game. Please review them, and if you have questions or are uncertain about something feel free to ask.
1.) No god-modding.
2.) No auto-hitting or mass slaughter. This means if you are battling someone don't make your hit automatically meet its target, but rather have it aimed at a player and they choose whether the attack hits or misses. No mass slaughter means don't kill off a bunch of NPCs without permission.
3.) No meta-gaming. This is particularly important for the layout of The Four Courts. Essentially the players and characters know different things from each other, and it is important for the knowledge of the player not to cross over to the character. Having a character possess knowledge of the player and/or make assumptions based on the player's knowledge is considered meta-gaming, for example.
4.) Go with the plot, and please choose a character that fits well with the world and setting.
5.) Original characters only. If you would like to use a canon character please modify them until they are your own creation, and rather inspired by a canon character.
6.) I will be updating every Wednesday and Sat/Sun. There are no posting restrictions on how often you can post, but common courtesy with your fellow RP'ers is expected.
7.) Keep everything PG-13, please.
8.) Romance is permitted, but again please remember rating restrictions.
9.) Please don't have invincible characters. While you get to choose whether your character is hit by an attack, don't make them avoid everything or else it seems like god-modding.
10.) Please do not be overpowered. There are some special situations where being a little OP is acceptable, but if your character is too powerful in a fight I may ask you to tone it down.
11.) All RPNation rules apply.
12.) Please try to post at least once a week, though if you will be away please let me know and we will make arrangements for your characters. Should you remain absent for an extended length of time, I reserve the right to utilize your characters as I deem fit for the RP’s progression.
13.) Have fun!
If you know me you will know that I love roleplaying, and that I really enjoy seeing stories unfold and characters grow. I try to find ways to incorporate the entire cast into the plot, though you are also welcome to get creative and build your own story as you go along. I have long-term plans for this roleplay and hope to see it flourish, so please expect a long journey should you come aboard The Four Courts.

I will draft up some maps, but I want to make them look nicer than the others that I’ve lazily thrown together for previous adventures. I will try to get these up prior to the start of the game.

  • Hip Grappling Hook
Magic: N/A
Personality: Playful, curious, and optimistic. He loves to learn new things, experiment, and live new experiences. He will always have facts to talk about, and if you allow him he will talk your ear off. He is sweet and kind, although hyper, he sees the positive in most if not all situations. He will try to be friends with everyone, though he is nowhere near naive.
Background: The child of two court mages from the house of Ignis, Vincent was born into a privileged life. However, he was born without any magical affinity, an uncommon occurrence for being born from two magically gifted parents. He did suffer a bit of discrimination from this, but he found himself determined to make up for his lack of magical abilities. He would take interest in the mechanical arts that ruled the society around him, including the studies of alchemy, and chemistry. He would go to prestigious schools, and study under the best that money and privilege could afford. He became an expert on his own right, and has dedicated his years in creating innovations for the house of Ignis, the city, and any independent contractor that searched for him. Currently he has multiple projects, and is doing rather well for himself independently.

Magic: Earth Magic
Personality: Dutiful, aloof, and headstrong. He tends to follow logic over emotions and feelings. He does his best to restrain his emotions, and can come off as a rather boring person who limits himself to action rather than words. Yet, once one manages to warm up to him, one can pull away the walls that he has placed over the years. Deep down he is rather gentle, kind, and is rather softhearted. He tends to swallow up his emotions and then grief privately when no one else can witness, and is afraid to show what he really thinks of to those around him.
Background: Arun grew within an orphanage for the first few years of his life. It would not be until he was around four years of age that he would begin to show magical potential, along with a few others who began to develop their abilities. One day, a court mage of the court of Ignis would come in search to adopt a child. He would proceed to collect all magical gifted children and test them throughout the day. In the end, he would take Arun with him, and would officially adopt him as his child. From then on Arun was raised with the best education money could buy, and given everything he could possibly need. Except parental love. It was a partnership. Arun was the student, and his father was the teacher. He had expectations to meet, and he would meet them, or else. Knightly training, magical classes, history, philosophy; he had no hobbies. Only the goals given to him. He would grow to represent the best that the court of Ignis had to offer, and loyal to his court, and father, to no end.

Weapons:
  • Songbird (Flute)
  • Rune Cards
  • Bladed Hairpin
Magic:
  • Necromancy - A user and practitioner of Necromancy, he usually uses it on animals rather than humans. • Blood Magic - User is able to control his own blood, and use it as a weapon
  • Cartomancy - Use of cards to place curses on people or places
Personality: Playful, blunt, and selfish. He values knowledge over emotions, and this has gotten him into trouble before. However, he is not fully as heartless as he appears, as he does follow the law, even when he finds some to be an annoyance to his research. He merely has a niche and limited number of friends and trusted ones, and even then they know of his extent.
Background: Arkane was the son of a couple of gravekeepers. His great-grandfather was a member of the Umbra Court, but his grandmother and his mother did not inherit the magical capabilities. He lived with his parents until their deaths after an epidemic spread through the town. A few weeks later there had been rumors of unlicensed necromancy, and some music. A member of the Umbra court would come to check up on it. There they found a little Arkane having revived smaller animals, though in a wild, and uncontrolled manner, as well as a pair of adult corpses. When asked, it turned out that Arkane was trying to revive his parents, and though successful in bringing the corpses to life, he did not bring back the souls. Recognized as the great-grandson of one of its members, he was taken back to the court of Umbra, and there he was raised to hone his necromancy skills. He has grown to become a reputable necromancer. Some worry that his past has made him become afraid of attachment, and made him selfless. Regardless, his skills cannot be denied.

Name: Jynn Venas

Age: 24

Gender: Male

Appearance: 5’9” brown hair, and blue eyes. Usually wears a black short sleeved hoodie with white lining, black leather gauntlets, and brown pants with black knee-high boots.

Court affiliation: Vivifica

Weapons:

Wields a a sword named Raging Leviathan, a weapon of his own design. It can transform into a scythe and an axe in its base form. When charged up, it will enter an amped state, with the blue blades will release a potent amount of electricity with each strike, and is able to cut through almost anything. However, it lasts only for a couple of minutes (one post), and Jynn will not be able to use this state again until after a couple of hours. As the story goes on, the sword will evolve.

Magic: Jynn controls lighting, able to fire projectiles, create storms, and forge weapons with electricity. His powers give him resistance to heat-based elements, like electricity and fire. In addition, he also also has the power of aura manipulation and sensing. With this, nothing can remain truly invisible to him. However, when enraged, he will enter an amped state called “Black Thunder”. It causes his strength, senses, and powers to reach their utter limit. However, as soon as this wears off, it completely drains him of his mana.

Personality: Generally quiet, doesn’t often express feelings or emotions to those that are not close to him. Some individuals are intimidated by his presence because of his quiet nature. But behind his facade, lies a heart of gold. Often thinks outside the box, not afraid to go against tradition to help those in need.

Background: Not much is known about Jynn’s past, other than he grew up not knowing his parents. The courts noticed that he possesses many talents and powers. It was a difficult process because of this, but because of his aura reading, swordplay came naturally to him. In the end, he was placed in the Vivifica Court, and was a valuable asset. A decade or so later, on his 21st birthday, the Vivifica Court had a new leader, Aislinn. Admired by her leadership, though he would never admit it, he aimed to be the best member he could, completely learning to wield his powers by the age of 23

Magic: Healing from her mother, but she doesn’t possess any other elemental abilities. However, she doesn’t have a full grasp of her powers.

Personality: Kind, upbeat, and proud. She never looks for the bad, and is determined to help society any way she can. Lev does not tolerate injustice, and always wants to resolve any issues. She can be a bit quirky at times however.

Background: Lev is the daughter Pali and Aislinn, who both had an unsteady relationship between one another. Not long after, Lev’s parents divorced, with Aislinn leaving her behind with the immortal Pali. After sixteen years pass, she left Pali, and lived a life as a commoner, visiting her father from time to time. However, as the days go by, her powers become more prevalent and almost uncontrollable, in response, she decides to join the Ignis Court, perfecting her swordsmanship and making a difference to society, while also learning to wield her powers effectively.

Name: Morpha Gallant

Age: 23

Gender: Female

Appearance: 5’8”, red eyes, long red hair. She bears a large horizontal scar across her face. Wears something similar to Hela from Thor: Ragnarok, only without her horns, and a purple flame patten instead of green.

Court affiliation: Umbra

Weapons: Carries a single gun.
5D4E250C-39EC-4A11-8107-608B206CB976.jpeg

Magic: Morpha uses the power of darkness as her main weapon. She can do just about anything with it. She can even manipulate the trajectory of her bullets, however slightly, and they move slightly slower than normal.

Personality: Selfish is one of the only words that can describe Morpha. She truly believes she is at the top. She knows that if she completes her missions, she will live a rich life. She doesn’t truly care about others’ lives. Sadistic is the second word that can be used to describe her. Morpha loves bringing others’ feelings down when she feels they deserve it.

Background: Morpha was born to an extremely wealthy family, who severely spoiled her. At the age of nine, she was sent to the Umbra Court to harness her darkness. Sometime in her teenage years, Morpha came across Vivifica member Jynn, who she challenged to a spar of powers, just to try to look more superior. She lost every round, and in a blind rage, she tried to kill Jynn, but to no avail. Morpha came out with a huge gash across her face, and a burning hatred towards Jynn. Because of this act, the Umbra Court has been keeping a close eye on her ever since.

Personality:
Eclaire is a bubbly, sweet girl with a lot of love. After Vivifica's leave, though, Eclaire has found herself scared and a bit alone, save for her mother. Drawing herself in, Eclaire has built up walls around herself, too scared to say she was from Vivifica, uncertain how others will treat her regarding the illegal activity around Itika, and the exile it has placed itself into after the breakaway.

Background:
A clumsy, yet well-meaning and sweet girl, Eclaire was born in Vivifica's court to an Archmagus. Taught in the Court for many, many years, she left on a long journey set upon her by Court. By the time she had completed her mission and returned, Vivifica had broken off with the other courts, leaving her uncertain of her standing, as well as nervous about how other Vivifica magus would be viewed. Going to her mother in Umbra, she resides there, currently taught by the Umbra Court thanks to petitioning from her mother - who, while fairly poor and only able to provide the bare necessities for her daughter, was able to persuade the Court to accept her. She remains there to this day, training in the art of Dark Magic, wondering what has become of her father...

An adept with water and ice, Kagura pays for lodgings through being a Water Dancer, covered in veils and working to be as great as the Vivifica Magus "Princess of Victory" that Kaguya has been nicknamed...but for Kagura, this is a long, and weary road, one the Dancer fearfully treads...but never wanting to tread it alone.

Name: Mellark Crowe
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Appearance:
7961c737cff7c6d54390e13608ed9b65.jpg

Court affiliation (if any): Somnum
Weapons: Glaive, sometimes a javelin
Magic: Ice, Hypnosis, and Status Ailments (debuffs, sleep, poison)
Personality: Haughty, lazy, and somewhat obnoxious, Mellark is arrogant and seldom likes to do work presented for him, thinking himself above others and expecting others to do the dirty work for him. Beneath this exterior, however, Mellark is quite sensitive, and takes insults very painfully even if he acts unfazed.
Background: Mellark was born to a non-magical impoverished family within the heart of Regalia, who dutifully served the High Priestess and raised their children to the best that they could. Out of his four siblings, Mellark was the only one to develop magic, and he immediately arrested the attention of the courts. Out of all of the possible offers, he favored the Somnum court the most for its high rate of powerful mages, and thus his education began. While still a young mage, his potency is rare and extraordinary, and already he is favored among many within the court. His power has gone to his head, however, casting aside his humble beginnings and being very haughty and arrogant. However, deep down Mellark is gentle and compassionate, and he found himself creating a persona that would allow him to resemble his peers. Many teased him on his impoverished background and not being from a mage family, thus he has tried to make up for it. Mellark struggles to fit in, and to remain true to himself simultaneously.

Name: Aislinn Nosferi
Age: 41
Gender: Female
Appearance:

1963349-1366x768-[DesktopNexus.com].jpg

Court affiliation (if any): Vivifica
Weapons: Lute and spear
Magic: Wind, Healing, and Earth
Personality: Charitable is one singular word that applies heavily to Aislinn. She believes that life is a gift, and the least she can do with it is to bestow upon others that which she believes all humans have earned: love, respect, and even the clothes off her back if the situation demanded it. Aislinn fully embraces the beliefs of Vivifica and the foundation of the court, leaving her with innovative and sometimes frowned upon practices.
Background: Aislinn was born to a wealthy family within the Umbra court, her lineage existing within a long line of powerful mages. The court was welcoming and hospitable, though Aislinn never quite felt that she fit in. When her magic unfolded and it differed from her peers, her parents were concerned. They arranged for her to cross train in the Vivifica court, where she was educated and raised until the age of 16, where she was abruptly brought back to the Umbra court in a hastily arranged marriage to a wealthy and reputable man: Pali. For the sake of her family, Aislinn had no choice but to comply, wedding the immortal and giving him a daughter. Unable to endure this arrangement much longer, however, Aislinn fled the court, though failing to bring their daughter with them. She returned to Vivifica, though not a day goes by that she does not regret her choices, leaving her daughter behind, and being forever estranged from her family. However, she now has a court to lead, and through her teachings and love for the world, she hopes to bring about a new direction for the Four Courts.

Name: High Priestess Mabel Ansari

Gender: Female
Appearance:
2294694f5e29ce76d6bbc02be5733edf.png

Court affiliation (if any): All
Weapons: Ornate Quarterstaff
Magic: None
Personality: Quiet, empathetic, and duty-bound. Mabel expresses the wishes of the people and holds no real opinion or desire of her own. If she did have any, none would know. Mabel is seen as a soft-spoken soul who cares deeply for justice, but also peace.
Background: Mabel is sworn to a life serving Regalia and working to maintain the divine laws and traditions therein and to serve as the voice of Regalia among the courts. She had been appointed to this role as an infant, and raised to become the high priestess at the young age of fifteen. While maybe is kind and loyal, she has a sworn duty that she is obliged to fulfill, and never has she been seen among crowds doing anything that she would wish to take part in. Much about her is shrouded in mystery, and beyond knowing her as the "High Priestess," it is uncertain who the girl really is.

Weapons: gunblades and throwing knives
Magic: None
Personality: Charismatic to a fault and loyal to his friends, Tibarn is the friendly jovial soul who cannot get enough drinks, flirting with beautiful women, and the thrills of a good treasure hunt.
Background: Raised by an oriental family in a quiet town in Regalia, Tibarn left home in hopes of taking up a job for one of the courts, hoping to support his aging parents. When he returned one summer he'd come to find that his mother had passed away by a disease that had swept through, filling the young man with grief. He didn't return to his job and instead drew inward, conversing with few and relying on many trips to the bar for comfort. It wasn't until a trip to death's door that finally snapped him back into living again. Tibarn left his hometown once more, this time meeting and befriending Gabriel Woods and Arno Cross. He considers himself a bounty hunter/thief with morals, however: he won't take from orphans or the poor, and won't often kill for spoils unless he felt the person deserved it. Tibarn travels with the crew in search of his sense of self and purpose. But will he find it? That remains to be seen.

Name: Daruk Mortem
Age: 53
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Daruk is tall, standing about 6'5", with tanned skin and a fair number of tattoos. He is broad shouldered and muscular, often wearing loose sleeveless vests and dark colored trousers. His red hair is cut short, with long sideburns that make their way into his short-trimmed beard.
Court affiliation (if any): Ignis
Weapons: claymore, mace
Magic: Fire and earth
Personality: Loud, jovial, and boisterous are all words that describe Daruk. He is warm and friendly, willing to give almost anyone a chance to prove themselves worthy. He is friends with his court, and truly desires for him and his mages to make a difference in the world.
Background: Daruk was born into the Ignis court by mage parents, though they refused to teach him how to harness his magic until he could wield a sword. Daruk bonded well with his instructor, and was devastated upon his passing. He swore to himself to become someone like his teacher, protecting the weak and leading the strong, and thus he did. He became Maester of the Ignis court in his late thirties, and he strives to instill the same morals and principles upon the rest of the court.

Court affiliation (if any): Umbra
Weapons: Sword and dagger

hellion_gunblade_by_redrab8t-d38mpai.jpg

Magic: Dark magic and necromancy. Specializes in Dark Matter manipulation.
Personality: Gerik is usually pleasant and polite to those he meets. He’s well read, has a quirky sense of humor, and a love of art. This hides a manipulative mind who will use anything to achieve his goals. While he isn’t above using crude methods such as murder and blackmail to get what he wants, he prefers to engineer situations where people do his bidding unaware and of their own perceived volition. It is hard to tell if he derives pleasure from his work and dark whispers of his own vices chill even those of the Umbral court. What is perhaps most interesting about him is his atypical interest in society at large beyond the Umbral court. A truly keen mind could notice a pattern in his webs, in that many seemed designed to prevent order from being lost.
Background: Not much is known about Gerik Lockford’s early life. Just that in his late teens, he was discovered with a talent for dark magic. He gained entry into the Umbral Court and then vanished from the public spotlight. Recognized for his talents, Gerik was made a fixer, an agent of the court intended to curb and manage the excesses of the self-centered organization. As the years past, he became more of a fixture for the Umbral Court, easing tensions, and making sure everyone had a place at the table. A few recognized the influence he was garnering, with access to many secrets and many people in his debt. Some tried to move against him, but his webs made most attempts useless. While many didn’t like him, his continued good health and work made everyone’s life more convenient and safe. What most don’t know is that Gerik’s influence extends to the other courts as well. He uses this influence to ensure that the balance of power remains intact and life proceeds as it always has. This business with Vivifica is just another mess to fix...

Name: Valery
Age: 26
Gender: female
Appearance:
fqjuhnrkdht31.png

Court affiliation (if any): Vivifica
Weapons:
hqdefault.jpg

Magic: earth magic and limited light magic (focused lasers)
“Gifted” with unnatural strength, stamina, durability, and regeneration.
ESP with a stronger connection with spirits and undead.
TBD- (wraith form, "mana" vampirism)
Familiar; a magical parrot who can act as scout, fetch small items, and translate her sign language for Valery

Personality: Valery tends to be blunt and to the point. While she is not tactless, she does sometimes view it as a waste of time. If she likes you, she'll hug you. If she doesn't like you, she'll not keep that dislike on the inside. While blunt, she is not unkind. When it comes to friends and colleagues, Valery is generally quite friendly with an odd sense of humor that pops up from time to time. She has little patience for trickery and deception. She is devoted to her Court, lending her indomitable will and strength to seeing the Courts goal of bettering the world done. She harbors a deep distrust and hatred for the Umbra Court. Due to her “condition”, she is constantly cold, especially to the touch. While she’s use to it, she does prefer warm drinks year round. In her off time, sun bathing (despite not tanning) and warm baths are her favorite indulgences. Because of her lack of ability to speak, she remains mostly silent. She will sometime uses grunts and simple shouts to communicate, but she primarily signs.
Background: Valery doesn’t remember much of her childhood. She remembers living on the street with her older brother Davide. It was hard, but Davide would always provide and keep her spirits up. Then, when she was 8, she remembers a dark night when a dark man came and took her, Davide screaming her name helplessly as she was taken away. The next thing is waking up in a lab, inside a cage. Someone was trying to speak to her, but she was so hurt and frightened, she couldn’t process the words. Acting on
instincts, she broke out of the cell with her bare hands and ran into the night. She
tried to find Davide, but he was no where to be found. A few day laters and giving up hope, Valery was found by members of the Vivifica court and taken in. It was discovered by Vivifica healers that she had been infused with dark magic, augmenting her physical attributes. The cost seemed to be her ability to speak, though she could still make sounds, and an unnaturally low body temperature. Despite this tampering, Valery was more of a frightened child than monster, so the Court took her in to keep an eye on her. Eventually learning sign language, she was discovered to have some magical talent. She was fully accepted into the court, despite the misgivings of some, given training in Earth and Light Magic. As she grew over the next 18 years, she would work as muscle for the court, sometimes working with members of the Ignis court towards common goals. In her off time, she still tries to piece together what happened to her and, more importantly, what happened to Davide.

Name: Mako Koyle
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Appearance:
DzAJFjMUUAAf-cl.jpg
Court affiliation (if any): Somnum
Weapons:
350
Magic: Lightning, teleportation (includes short range personal teleportation, and portals), affinity for enchantment
Personality: Mako has always been talkative and funny, but since discovering her magic and joining Somnum, her tendencies have skyrocketed to hide insecurities. She never expected to be anything more than a shop keeper, a nobody left alone by history. With her magic and membership in a court, she feels like a fraud, faking her way through a life she neither deserved or was intended for. She also has no real feeling of belonging or loyal to her Court, which makes her feel even more out of place. So, she covers this all up with humor and a bit of a motor mouth, expressing bravado she doesn’t feel.
In aid of her dealing with her anxiety of not measuring up his some hobbies, such as playing a rauschpfeife, tai chi, and her work as an enchanter.
Background: The Koyl family have run a success grocery store for several generations. The led quiet and out of the way lives, living comfortably off their work, and leaving the fate of the world in more qualified hands. This was a fact of life Mako Koyl had accepted and found rather comforting. That simpler life was rather rudely taken away when her latent magic abilities flared up, opening a portal to deep in the ocean. It was only with the help of a Somnum customer that she managed to close it, leaving part of the store flooded, and some very weird looking fish dead. Overwhelmed by this revelation, she was quickly ushered to the Somnum court for training. She wasn’t particularly wild about the idea of joining a court, but that’s what you did if you had magic, right? Over the next two or so years, she developed her magic, clinging to her aptitude for enchantment as something vaguely normal in this crazy new life. Though she projects a confident if talkative air, she is terrified that she is out of her depth and sinking fast. And with the recent news about the Vivifica Court, she wonders if she’s approaching the bottom...

Name: Pali Noirtier
Age: 80 (looks like 19).
Gender: Male
Appearance:

11311986_ori.jpg

Court affiliation (if any): Umbra
Weapons: Epee, a heavy rapier without a cutting edge but intended for thrusting
Magic: Real Illusion / Wishful Thinking, various lesser magics meant for making life for him better, teleportation for small objects, necromancy
Personality: As egocentric as a sphere is round, and as desirous to be filled as a bottomless hole, Pali Noirtier is a man who puts on the facade of a socialite while being inwardly broken. He is highly introspective, though he is known by some to talk to himself or to his creations. He is like a different person around his daughter, however.
Background: Pali Noirtier started out in a flawed branch of the Umbra court's train of thought, and sought immortality through any way that he could. He found one such method: to live a life fuller of debauchery than any other and gain the power of wishful thinking through a wizened old man who achieved this, killing him in the process and hiding his body through his own technique. He trained long and hard, and at the age of 19 he stopped aging, requiring to bathe, and more.
Currently, Pali lives mostly by himself with his makeshift creations, though he does venture out of his home every now and again to perform the duties that made his living style possible. An air of nobility follows him, potentially because he is an older man trapped in a younger man's body and he dresses like an aristocrat. However, beneath his exterior lies the heart of an abomination, a blemished thing that never should have graced the world. His lone pride and joy, excepting himself, is his twenty-year-old daughter from a swiftly forged marriage he thought would make life interesting again. The marriage ended horribly, and his daughter Lev (Hebrew for "inner heart") grew up in his household until she moved out. She strayed deeply from her father's path and chose a life like anyone else, filled with freedom, excitement, and health. She visits him every now and again, which gives him a joy he long thought he lost.

Name: Jari Coriander
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Appearance: A lanky young man, about 165 centimetres tall (5 feet, 5 inches), with dark hair, green eyes, a rounded face, and an amiable smile that can kill, Jari is a bright young man with a strange air about him. He has taken a liking to a loose shirt and trousers, all-terrain boots, and keeps his hair nice and kempt. He has his quirks, however. The most prominent thing about him is his different taste in style. He wears a custom-made headpiece that looks like fox's ears and covers his own set of ears while retaining most of his hearing capacity, and he wears a fake fox's tail from time to time which he affixed to his rear, to make up for his losing his other one, he claims.
Court affiliation (if any): Somnum
Weapons: A well-honed hunter's knife. He also has in his possession several thief's tools, metal ingots of various kinds, and a interchangeable game board of his own design he calls his Crest, with pieces enough to play chess, checkers, backgammon, and seventeen other games.
Magic: Lightning magic, whittling magic (a magical process which can cut away at what he touches into a shape he desires), lesser earth magic, infrared magic, lesser enchantment (gifting things with the illusion of life)
Personality: From a young age, Jari was what his friends would call special. His artistic mind was devoted to the creative elements of drawing, painting, sculpting, whittling, and his love for all things natural and created can be read easily by others. He tries to be kind, compassionate and polite, but he rarely advances to being a friend to people due to his weird claims of being an actual fox boy. He is harmless when sober and harmless when drunk (the latter of which happens quite often).
Background: Born to two successful parents within the mages society, Felicity Thermos from Ignis (where they now reside) and Montgomery Coriander from Vivifica, Jari lived in the lap of luxury and was taught much about alchemy, chemistry, metallurgy, and the gifts of which he came with, but his dreamer ideals did not match either Ignis nor Vivifica, so he was shipped out to Somnum where he was taught even more of his gift, and most especially his knack for lightning and enchantment magic, enhancing something mundane into a wondrous item, especially art. He is a childhood friend of Shiroo from the Ignis court, and ran into Ephraim and Vincent once or twice.

Name: Luka Rabbi
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Court affiliation (if any): Somnum
Weapons: Long Spear
Magic: Lightning (Frequency) , Sand, and Water magic. Matter Shift.

Lightning- Luka can Manipulate electricity and create several frequencies to the point that the shocking magic turns into hypersonic waves.
Sand- A subtype of earth magic that lets Luka turn large fragments of earth and metal into dust and use it as a weapon
Water- Luka can manipulate water and crash it upon her foes.

- using water and sand magic Luka can create mud traps and control waves of muddied earth.
- Submerged foes are susceptible to electrical attacks or hypersonic attacks
- Using the heat from her electrical attacks Luka can create Glass that can be shattered and manipulated into a slashing type attack.
- Using Matter shift without preparation will cause Luka to take massive damage depending on what shift in matter she uses. This may change depending on the passage of time.
-Luka is Able to dissolve any mineral or metal she touches into a fine powder, in this state she can manipulate it with her thoughts alone as long as she knows its composition. Although the sand can be pushed through with ease. she can reform the sand in any shape she wishes before using it to guard or strike creating a malleable defense and attack. Her range is 50 meters with this skill.

Personality: Lazy, Quiet, but determined when she wants to be. She moves at her own pace

Background: Luka is a prodigious magician in courts. She is either highly dedicated to her craft or overwhelmingly lazy and she doesn’t tend towards a happy medium. Luka is an experimenter, working on her magic craft to mix and toy with different combinations of magics to see and document how they interact with each other and the body and the world. This research has lead to her developing a Matter Shift style of magic that allows her to shift her body into one of the three magic types she controls. The magic has a high rate of major damage return which does not pair well with her bodies already frail demeanor so she uses it sparingly and continue to work towards improving it. She has had a few interesting breakthroughs with her magic since this discovery.

This desire to learn has lead her down the path of Gloscan research. Using Itika, two normal gloscans and an unstable gloscan, as well as her own blood, Luka has developed and slotted three unique gloscan crystals into bangles she wears on her left arm. these crystals allow her to ignite her latent mana pools and create devastating magic.

“Stagnation Breeds uselessness.”

Equipment Notes
- She carries a Pouch of "Pocket Sand"
• Her bag is usually holding pouches of minerals including Lodestones and conductive minerals. As well as iron and copper powder.
-A Thick tome takes up the rest of the space in her bag. its pages are coated in a mixture of sand and sap. Her book holds many notes on her studies of magic and their reactions to one another.
- Her Spear has an Itika Shard in it
- She now carries 3 Gloscan Bangles (One drains Mana from Nature, One from herself and the first Gloscan, and a Third from the second Gloscan while refining the result)

Name: Thea Nero Leviathan.

Age: 35

Gender: Female

Appearance:
5xGqgrD.png

Court affiliation: Somnus

Weapons: Through water manipulation she can create different weapons, changing them at any point in time. The preferred forms are in the form of spears and swords.

Magic: A natural wielder of water/ice magic, capable of manipulating the state of water at will and use it's arcane nature for different puposes. She can also use lightning magic and other elements (to a lesser degree) but she is more naturally attuned to water/ice.

Personality: She is a very serene and friendly person, fair in her interactions with others, and enigmatic. She holds honesty in high regard, but she also keeps a lot of secrets about herself. She tends to be very private with her life outside the courts.

Background: Professor Nero, as she is called by student and teachers, is the current Maestra of the Court of Somnum. She showed an attunement towards water magic from a very early age, her parents, Theos and Astelle, often getting praised for having such a gifted child by those of the Somnum Court who took interest in the child and wished to have her among their students when the time came. Her childhood was spent among books and magic around her, she lived in the Somnus Court's dormitories for most of the time she studied magic.

She somehow ended up in important roles without even meaning to be there, such as being the president of her class for all the years she spend as a student. She often exceeded the teachers' expectations and often was offered a place as their assistant when she decided that school was done. She left the school to see the world after graduation, leaving quite a lot of people in confusion, sadness, and some anger and relief from some too. After a couple of years of travel she returned home, only to find out, thanks to her cousin, that her parents had passed away. She spend weeks pondering as to why she hadn't been there when Theos and Astelle passed away, she was their only daughter, but her uncle, aunt and cousins always told her that her parents were proud of the great woman she had become.

After having some time to mourn her parents, she returned to the Somnum Court, there she managed to obtain a job as a professor of the school of Abjuration, using what she had learned about the Arcane Arts to teach the newer generations. Students often sought her counsel on different academic topics, but also as a confidant for their problems, this made her very well liked by the students and the teachers at the Compendium Conservatory. With years of knowledge under her belt, she was chosen to be the next Maestra of the Somnum Court, a role she accepted in hopes of helping those who wished to delve into the Arcane Arts and development of new ways to help both magic users and those without it, and to have better relationships between courts.

Her private life is considered a mystery by the students and the teachers because she is rarely seen outside, some think it is strange that such an amazing woman is still single, but she always answers that she is married to her job, and that those of the court are like her family. Current actions by the Court of Vivifica have left her puzzled about why they suddenly changed their ways, she does not want to judge them for breaking tradition, but is willing to listen to their reasoning for leaving and dealing with the forbidden Itika.

Name: Ephraim Myrei
Age: 24-26
Gender: Male
Appearance: Light maroon armor with red accented gear patterns on the shirt and pants, brown trench coat with a large hood; White hair that's long on top (parted to the left) and held back in a low ponytail; warm black shirt underneath armor along with dark brown trousers; black knee-high boots (very worn); typically uses a short sword to fight, doesn't like to use magic a whole lot but can use when necessary. Mute red eyes glow a brighter red when fire is used or emotions are high. Enhanced by fire, though he can't always control it so it singes his clothing at times.
Court affiliation (if any): Ignis
Weapons: Short sword, knives, crossbow if he remembers it. His powers aren't 100% under his control, he sticks more so with heating his sword up or making his arrows on fire. He knows very little of fire spells but he can make himself warmer. Does a bit of tinkering from time to time, his knives were modified by him in his spare time.
Magic: Fire mostly
Personality: Curious, always wanting to do the right thing, a bit reserved but will speak out against something wrong. Cautious but occasionally will do something reckless (becomes more apparent when he's wanting to do something right). When he believes in something, he sticks with it until someone or something shatters his view. Ephraim is still innocent in a way he thinks, still quite black and white which leads him to some trouble with the world around him. Sweet person, though you question sometimes how he doesn't know things sometimes.
Background: Grew up in Ignis, training to be a mage to protect the Court he loves dearly. He trains most of his life until he was tasked to spy on one of his closest friend, Alix. He made a pact with her that they'd become mages together. They trained together under the same mentor and are sometimes joked that they were practically brother and sister. However, when Alix left one night mysteriously, Ephraim became suspicious. He watches her from a distance, becoming suspicious of who she really is anymore. He remains very loyal to his mentor and his Court and will protect their name with his heart. Ephraim will do anything that he believes is right.

I changed it slightly to fit with what was changed from the original post ^-^

Magic: Wind, Gravity and Fire.

Innate magic: Demon Eye. Unknown if its an application of his natural magic or something genetic, but Arno can concentrate for a few seconds to better analyze and focus his surroundings, seemingly slowing down time for him, this allows him to line up perfect shots with guns or perfect counters when in meele. This ability has a limit seemingly linked to visual and physical stimuli, the more adrenaline or stress Arno experiences the more focused he becomes, and the stronger the Demon Eye effect becomes. it can be noticed when his eyes gain an unnatural glow for a split second. This ability has a long lasting side effect to Arno which constantly puts hits nerves on stress, which can be self medicated with drinking or smoking to alleviate the nerves.

All untrained and tough to control, albeit he has been practicing, which is why he relies more on channeling the elements onto his weapons than using them himself.

Personality: Arno used to be a kind and outgoing individual, but the life of an untrained and unsupported mage is a tough one, and has roughed him to the point that he looks and acts more like a tough, no nonsence type of guy who only really cares about himself. And that may be so.

But he has a heart of gold when it matters, even though his profession doesn't exactly allow for much kindness per say. Bounty hunting is a dirty business, especially when one also doubles as a mercenary. He is rather silent when on business, and only ever speaks up to joke at other's expenses.

However that heart of gold is overshadowed by his undying apathy to the world at large, after countless betrayals at the hands of others, Arno is still a skeptical and untrusting man, taking a very nihilistic turn in both demeanor and attitude, existence and adversity being one and the same, he accepted that regardless of what he does, he won't change the world by himself, so why bother trying, it's best to just focus on your well being and that of those closest to you.

Sharp as a razor and as sturdy as the blunt end of a mace, Arno is not one you should cross, his experience in bounty hunting and heisting made him a very planning and analyzing invidual, he can read the room, easily, and read a person just by their demeanor.

Background:

"Deal with the hand you're dealt, but what if you're not dealt any hand at all?"

Born from a well off mage family, Arno always dreamed of becoming a court mage, be affiliated with one and make his parents proud, his parents being from Ignis and Somnus themselves, an Ignis father and a Somnus mother.

His first life deciding failure was when he was 17 years old, and it was finally time to try and get into a court, considering he inherited most of his magical abilities from his father, it was only natural that he'd try to get into Ignis. But during the tests he began to show some weird signs of his magic. Apparently his body had not gained much resistance to his elemental magic, and when he'd cast a fireball or try to utilize the wind his body would hurt itself, his skin would be burned and the wind would inflict nasty cuts and gashes on it. That's not mentioning his unique ability to control gravity, which would nearly break him in half.

The test was a total failure, and his parents were not only disappointed, but downright furious. Arno was promptly disowned...and his story details end there, he refuses to tell anyone about what happened afterwards. But whatever happened must have been grim, considering how he turned out.

In his early twenties Arno began a life as a heister, succesfuly robbing banks and other well off establishments for money and personal gain, and when the heat had gotten too much, it was time for a career change, and he became a very successful bounty hunter.

To this day Arno carries the several scars of what happened to him afterwards, most specificaly several hook like scars on his back, where no bones are but filled with flesh. Several cuts and exit wounds coming from his back, shoulder, three bullet wounds on the side of his stomach. What seems to be a large burn mark right below his right arm extending to the right side of his chest.

In the front of his body he has scars of what seem to be entry wounds of bullets in his stomach, a bit above the belly button, several cut marks around his arms and upper torso. A nasty stab scar on his right leg, these scars are apparently all fully healed, god knows how he survived it all, he just says fate has more suffering for him, and that its biding it's time.

"You can run, put as much distance between you and your past as you like, but it always catches up, when you least expect it, your worst mistakes laid bare staring you in the eye."
"Regardless of how much I try to forget...of how much I move on...every time I sleep, I see her again."

Name: Richter Vanis

Age: 29

Gender: Male

Appearance:

Resultado de imagem para Elsword richter
His current hair color is not a natural colors, its a side effect of rigorous training he has partaken in to achieve his current level of power, it glows with pure Aether, lightning up quite well in a room, much to his annoyiance.

Aether form

Resultado de imagem para Elsword richter
Richter's form when he unleashes his Thaumaturgy's limits and engulfs himself in light, in this form, his entire form glows and he has the ability of limited teleportation. His magic and abilities all receive a minor boost, but the biggest boost is that it allows him to use a higher tier of thaumaturgy.
There is a strict time limit to this form, and he can only extend it by using his life force as a catalyst.
However if during combat he can manage to gather enough mana charge to maintain the form, not only will he reset its duration but he will also boost it to a new level of power, of which there are three.
Lvl 1 Aether Body: Faster spells, easier phasing, boost to thaumaturgy.
Lvl 2 Aether Mind : Same as Lvl 1 but with an aura, strength and teleportation boost.
Lvl 3 Aether Soul: Same as Lvl 1 and 2 but boosted further. Can use ultimate tier Aether and the mana cost of his spells all decrease sharply.
It takes quite a while to achieve the third level form, however, and he can be interrupted during his channeling to boost the form, which will knock him out of it entirely and reset all of his magic to base, forcing him to pretty much restart the fight.

Court affiliation (if any): Vivifica.

Weapons: The Pendulum which he holds in his normal appearance is in fact a catalyst to his natural creation magic, allowing him to transform it in a variety of things, mostly swords and other weapons. He refuses to transform it into guns, however.

Magic: Aether manipulation (A combination of non-elemental magic as well as Holy magic). Lightning. Aether Phase, Aetherial sense.

Aether is an old, rare type of energy found in specific areas of the world of Regalia, Aether is both the energy of life and element, as such is has a connection to life itself.

In essence Aether is magical energy given holy properties. Does not mean Richter cannot be creative with it, raw energy is rather strong and malleable. Such as making construcs of Aetheric energy in the form of weapons and energy projections.

Divina Fulgur: Lighting infused with Aether energy, this in turn increases the lightning's potency and all of it's capabilities. One can call it "holy lightning" and not be too far fetched.

Aether Phasing: The ability to turn incorporeal for a few seconds, can also teleport short distances at ease, can be used both in and outside of Aether Release. Interestingly enough this ability extends to his creation magic.

Aether Sensum: A different take on aura sense in that he can feel a connection to the environment around him so long as there is magic in the atmosphere, and he can only feel the presence of those with magic.

Divinus Armamentarium: Utilizing his Aether, Richter is able to fashion several types of weapons made of pure magical energy, be them swords, axes, spears, flails, etc of various sizes and different magical proportions. He is able to summon them at will and up to 15 of said weapons can be summoned at any given time, he is able to control them mentally and with his magic. Much like Zion's multi weapon abilities.

Personality: Kind and compassionate, but always has the look as if he is scheeming something, and in truth, he is always in deep personal thought, about his objectives, his peers, and the court itself.

He is, however, easy to befriend, even though he may seem a bit intense in his beliefs. He is a genuinely nice person who looks out for his friends and peers, however he is rather merciless when it comes to dealing with any who threaten him and his friends of the court.

He has a deep seeted contempt for how unafiliated mages are treated, and how unfair it is for those with weak magical affinity to join courts, and the necessity of said affiliation for a life of dignity. He wishes to change that one day, one way or another.

During combat Richter's mostly silent, usualy speaking to shoot down the opponent's morale and toy with them further, as he enjoys testing others to what they can do.

Background:
Richter was born in the village of vetulonia,, a small and humble village, in an average household, where he was kept for most of his early childhood, before taking the eyes of passing court mages and being introduced to the VIvifica court.

While many of Vivifican mages were attuned to holy or light magic. Richter on the other hand always had an affinity for both holy, and creation magic. Ever since a young age he has always created objects out of pure holy energy which emanated high concentrations of magic power. All linked to his mind, he can control them at will but they disappear a certain distance away from him.

This natural power easily got him affiliated into the court of Vivifica, where he began his training as a Vivifican Mage, and rose through the ranks at a steady pace throughout the years. However an air of mystery follows him, even though he claims to have the best interests of the court in mind.

Throughout the years Richter has proven himself quite the intense Mage, following Vivifica's beliefs to the letter he usualy does things that may break laws or customs if it means it'l save or better the lives of others.

Richter has not been in too many conflicts or battles, but he has proven himself as a dangerous opponent during spars, due to his high mobility and damage moveset allowing him to rushdown an opponent at both range and close quarters combat.

Name: Henry Heid. "The Sun of Ignis"
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Appearance: General appearance.
05wMWSp.png

Don't let its cloth-like appearance fool you, his outfit is reinforced with both leather and chainmal interweaving between the cloth, not protecting as much as regular plate armor, but still allowing for great protection.

Court affiliation (if any): Ignis

Weapons:

Fire Emblem cosplay prop Mars sword 79cos

An Arming Sword of average size, a little big longer than his arm in length, Usualy used with one hand while he utilizes spells with the other, but the sword can also be used and swung around with both hands, which enhances the blade's abilities almost threefold , Its extremely sharp edges and point allow for devastating slashes and thrusts, Durable enough for Half Swording to be employed by gripping the blade mid swing to add more impact and force behind the attack.
The sword has been tempered through combat, as such its naturaly in tune with him and he knows how to use it well, the sword can easily be enhanced with elemental magic, through magic attuned materials. The Ignis court's crest is endorned in the sheath's entrance. Which sits just beside his waist, below his left arm.
The sword's center has a small mana crystal, which shines as Henry gains mana during combat.

Magic: High tier fire magic, Blast magic as an offshoot of fire magic, and Intermediate tier light magic.

Blast Armor: Focusing his blast magic, Henry is able to use it defensively in battle, a small barrier-like projection forms around him, crackling with explosive energy, upon impacted, it releases an explosion in direction at the attacker if in melee, and attempting to deflect the blow while in range, depending on the force of the attack landed, the armor will break and have to be cast again, the explosive rebuke is not a means of damage or retaliation, it's more effective at lessening a heavier blow or staggering an attacker should their attack be light.

Heat Control and Absorption: Instead of allowing his flames to rage around in combat, Henry focuses deeply on maintaining them, controlling them inside of his body, this in turn increases his mobility and attack power the more heat is accumulated, and allows him to unleash devastating fire magic at range and even more powerful magic at melee range, there is a limit on how much heat he can accumulate and when over the limit, streaks of flames are released and follow him around, as a means of not hurting him. This control also allows him to absorb fire magic from combatants and other sources, up to a certain amount.

Light Flux: The ability to wield light magic is rare amongts mages, even more-so those of Ignis birth. Henry can wield pure light as a weapon, this is not holy in nature, and when combined with fire can even simulate sunlight itself. He can use light both offensively, with beams of light energy and light energy and defensively with crowd control blinding radials and light enhanced dodging, which allows him to boost his speed to the point he "flash steps" out of an attack, perfect for countering. This power is relatively new to him, and he does not yet know how to fully harness it yet.

Personality: Calm, collected, Just but kind is the best definition one can give Henry. He wholeheartedly supports and follows Ignis's teaching and treats all of its court members as brothers and sisters. He certainly has a heroic side of him he doesn't want to show much, but he is the first one to rush to someone's help as well as fight for his beliefs even if the rules have to be bended.

Often putting himself in harm's way in order to protect others, Henry is the epitome of a knight, putting the people's well being above himself. And when in battle, he is quite the tactical mind, often suggesting certain tactics for his teammates in combat.

Background:

One of the most respected Ignis mages, for his actions and upbringing within the court. Henry joined the court at a young age of 9, showing prowess in the arts of fire and earth and an uncanny ability with light magic, contrasting his father and mother who controled Wind and Light respectively, first of his family to join the Ignis court and began his training right away. Quickly finding many friends in the court, Arun and Lev beings notables ones. Both of which he trained regularly with.

In Ignis he learned to wield all forms of swords, axes and other meele weapons, but he found himself most comfortable with Arming swords which allowed for a good mix of defense and ofense, and he focused on mastering his swordsmanship with his swords. His fire magic working overtime as a physical enhancement and tool.

When he was around 19 years old he mastered the art of fire magic and threw his own spin on it, Fire by itself was very strong, but limited in speed. But what if he could change that? He learned that fire could be used in many ways, such as charging at high speeds at an enemy, as well as flash stepping behind an opponent using very controlled fire energy.

He took part in the fight which scarred Soren's face, he held himself rather well against the super powered mage, but he much like the others were unable to save Soren from the wounds that disfigured him. He was only 14 years old at the time and that experience had given him ideas on how to improve himself. And improve himself he did.

His mastery over fire had gotten so high he branched it off into a new school of magic which he utilizes Fire's combustive force and his control over it to allow him to cast controlled explosions around him as well as using this new ability in meele combat with his "Blast Armor" which combines it with his Sunlight energy to create a protective aura around him, which builds up energy and explodes when in contact with an energy, not much in the way of damage but with very good force behind it, usualy knocking an opponent off balance.

His fire magic is used in many ways, both for close combat and ranged combat, with high mobility in the means of fire charges, blazing flash steps and more.

Henry only truly proved himself within the court when he defended his court's honor in a four way fight between: Himself, an Umbra mage, A Somnus mage and a high standing mage from Vivifica. The fight itself was allowed on an official capacity. They all teamed up against him even if the rules said otherwise. Through a long fight, Henry emerged the victor, having had beaten down all of the other mages and succesfuly defending Ignis's honor. The Event had been shown publicly, officialy allowed as a sparring match. After said Henry acquired a nickname title from the people as "The Sun of Ignis".

When he was 22 years old, it was his first no holds-barred, lethal sparring match with Soren, one of the most powerful of the court, the battle was long and grueling, but his improvements over his skills showed as he managed to survive the Bullwark's onslaught and deliver his own blows. In the end they fought to a complete stand still, as one had expended most of their mana and couldn't continue fighting, ending it in a draw. Henry still thinks Soren went easy on him, or underestimated him.

Current events with Vivifica's disbanding has left Henry quite concerned, and he would jump at the chance of leading an investigation on their activity, especially when it comes to Itika. The Defection from Elliot only made him more determined to find out what VIvifica's been doing.

Thanks! All of these look great so far. I think I'm just missing Nero Kunivas Nero Kunivas 's characters, but it is no rush. Feel free to import them when you get the chance.

In terms of new additions: if you guys want to introduce someone new as the story goes on, or swap someone out, you are welcome too. I intend to keep sign-ups open for at least 3/4s of the RP.

Spoiler alert: the option to create villains will appear later.

The mention of villains has me very intrigued. : D

Name: Eleanor Le Doux, Fierce Shadow

Age: 27

Gender: Female

Appearance: 6'1'', shoulder length, black hair, blonde highlights, braided ponytail. Eleanor bears a strong but agile and toned body build and generally wears a double-breasted, buttoned up, high collar, black long coat with a few white highlighted areas, black trousers and heeled boots, though the heels are thick and low, rather than stilettos and high, along with leather gloves, silver necklace with a circular, metallic charm engraved with a crescent moon symbol made from amethyst that is known to glow on occasion. Eleanor's eyes are a striking light blue, her face bears a small beauty mark and her skin is lightly tanned.

In combat, Eleanor can forge a suit of armour from Darkness in a flash, pictured below, albeit with some added details: A short waist cape, her face is obscured by darkness through the visor, her voice can be distorted to mislead her foes just like the armour's form does.

JaRd12l.jpg
582366
Court Affiliation: Umbra

Weapons: Dual Umbran Blades - Eleanor's preferred weapons. Two, simple swords, with ornate hilts engraved with patterns and some of the Umbra Court teachings. The blades themselves are black as night and are of a reasonable length.

Semi-automatic Umbran Crossbow - A revolutionary ranged weapon, capable of loading and preparing ammunition on its own, allowing for multiple bolts to be fired in quick succession, though it still requires individual trigger pulls. A quieter alternative to firearms of the age, without the need for the stamina exerted from knocking a bolt into place, only a reload of its magazine.

Magic: Like most if not all of those of the Umbra Court, Eleanor is a practitioner of the Dark Arts, demonstrating great aptitude of the control and channeling of Darkness. As she completely shied away from the art of Necromancy, Eleanor was able to fully focus on Darkness and the Shadows, allowing her to fire forth dark energy projectiles from her hands, raw torrents of darkness, temporarily blind foes by tossing shadow energy like sand from her pocket, erupt geysers of dark energy and generally manipulate the energies in useful, destructive and powerful forms. Some of her more advanced techniques include her ability to focus energy into various forms, particularly as energy blades, either from her hands or in place of her blades if they are broken somehow, or a temporary barrier that can block a single attack but will break upon doing so.

Darkness is potent on its own, but it can feed off of strong emotions such as anger, hatred, sorrow and despair. Any one of these will increase Eleanor's raw power at the cost of elegance, defense and some rational thought. Completely succumbing to its overwhelming influence offers the greatest boost in power, allowing Eleanor to enter what's known as "Umbran Madness". A rare, but rightfully feared transformation that some members of Court Umbra have dabbled with in the past. Her body is wreathed in an aura of wild darkness, her eyes glow an unsettling yellow that encompasses her eyes fully rather than just the irises and her raw power increases greatly. Very, very few can control this form, fewer still master it and in this untempered form, Eleanor and anyone else who can use it is at risk of Total Corruption, which will "kill" the user, then possess their body, using it as a vessel for destruction. In exchange for these potential dangers, Umbran Madness grants great power, speed and proficiency with Darkness, expanding their range of attacks and their potency. Maintaining even a partially tempered form of Umbran Madness still exerts the body greatly and all forms can be deactivated manually, but the rawest state of Madness deeply tempts with its power the user into keeping it active as to allow it to control them, requiring a very strong will to resist.

No one knows what a fully tempered, mastered and controlled Umbran Madness looks like. No one who will tell, anyway.

Personality: Eleanor is a fairly reserved, receptive and caring woman, in contrast to her pragmatic, deadly fighting style. Though she embraces parts of the Umbran way, she's fairly disarming in how frequently selfless she can be, almost like an Ignis in her views on justice and helping others while doing her duty. She's only as accepted as she is due to her sheer power over the Darkness and being generally liked for how kind and even funny she can be, though nine times out of ten it's snark, snark and more snark, contrasting how nice she may be, like her blades she is a sharp one.

When she uses Umbran Madness, the sheer flow of emotion and power warps Eleanor into the complete opposite. She's loud, boisterous, sinister, power-mad and cruel. All traits that can be worked through with time and practice with the form and its power, but it's no easy task. Even in her regular state however, Eleanor is susceptible to her passions, with her reservation and dignified appearance being an effective veil to try and keep a handle on it, to keep the beast under control ever since she first awakened its might.

Background: Born and raised in the Umbra court, Eleanor was trained from an early age like most in their arts, though she always turned her nose up at Necromancy, her direct focus on the power of Darkness and Shadows was to her benefit. Through much effort, training and guidance, she became known as the 'Fierce Shadow' by her peers, for her prowess with dark energy and aggressive fighting style with dual swords. At some point during her private time, where she would meditate to focus her power, she sensed a greater strength sleeping within her soul, one darker than anything she had learned up until that point, so she did her own research. Though no one would openly tell her what this power was, especially what its mastery would entail, Eleanor learned about Umbran Madness, what could cause it and what the common symptoms of its presence were, which included meditation disturbance...

Though she has not yet experienced enough anger, passion or anything of the sort, one cannot help but feel it is soon upon her, the only question is when this power would surface.

Name: Elliot van Luxmore, The Silver Wolf

Age: 34

Gender: Male

Appearance: 6’4, often clad in his signature silver full-body armour, with a horned helmet that bears a skull-like visage and gasmask-like breathers that covers his entire head, with a segmented chest piece, red accents all around the armour, a long red coat underneath and an Itika cannon attached to the back of his left hand.

Without the helmet, Elliot’s face is that of a rugged, world-weary warrior with dark skin, messy slicked back dark hair, yellow eyes and interestingly, a silver, third eye in his forehead that bears no pupil or extra details, just a pure silver, unblinking orb.

(When picturing the armour, combine these two images. But the helmet of the second image is Elliot's albeit silver rather than black.)

Court affiliation: Vivifica

Weapons: Wolf’s Bite, a magitek Gunblade that is magically sensitive, infused with Itika and capable of shooting long-distance targets or using its shells to enhance the blade’s striking power or perform other feats and powers.

OqYNN2s.png

Magic/Abilities: Itika-infused armour and weapon, Light Magic Proficiency and a Mystery Power.

Quite possibly the most overt and most willing user of Itika, yet this is a recent development, only when Vivifica began to partake in the forbidden substance did the visionary Elliot begin to employ its use beyond simply hoarding the valuable essence of mana. Constructing his new suit of armour, Elliot sought to make use of Itika without needing to make contact or inject it, instead utilizing a more risk-free and effective method of unleashing its potential.

Having infused Itika into his armour and weapon, sealing them with magical runes and ensuring a constant supply is flowing through his suit, Elliot’s considerable undertaking has borne fruit: His Itika cannon can fire off Raw Itika projectiles that explode on contact, deploy a burning circle of sapphire flame as area denial, shoot off flares and a variety of other purposes. Elliot’s armour is magically resistant, but can be “Hypercharged”, turning the armour Gold and increasing Elliot’s magic resistance, speed, durability and strength, along with the potency of his magic and Itika attacks.

Elliot’s more mysterious ability is one he rarely deigns to talk about or even use, wherein he will invoke a Crimson Aura and call upon the power of Blood Lunacy. These powers are a curse, plaguing Elliot with visions of a Crimson Moon, a grim portent of doom that signals the end times and recently, these visions are becoming more intense and his Blood Lunacy is increasing in strength. Time will tell what happens to the Silver Wolf when it peaks.

Personality: Loyal to Vivifica to a fault and a strong follower of his “might makes right” philosophy, Elliot van Luxmore is a peerless swordsman, inspiring leader and forward-thinking strategist, evoking a more militaristic outlook than most Court Mages in this day and age. Elliot believes those weaker and unfortunate must be led by a strong shepherd who would also guide those who are ignorant from their weakness by strength of arms.

Elliot deeply cares about his allies, particularly those of Vivifica to whom he is as loyal to them as blood relatives, placing his faith and trust in them and their capabilities and becoming enraged should they be slighted or defeated. He is not blind however, to the dangers of Itika and the potential for his Maestra Aislinn to lose her way, but nor does he turn a blind eye to the complacency of the Elders and the dangers that lie ahead that necessitated Vivifica’s defection.

Knowing that his fellow Vivifica Mages are in need of a resolute pillar of strength, Elliot has taken this role upon himself, projecting a stoic and reserved exterior, all the while offering his wisdom to those who feel lost in these turbulent times and lending his shoulder to those who might find the need to vent their sorrows. Deep down, Elliot is troubled by his visions and what the future may hold and does his best to keep it buried, as to not worry others or falter in his duty.

Background: Like many mages, Elliot van Luxmore was born and raised in his Court, namely Vivifica. The “van” in his name is indicative of his highborn station, being of noble blood, yet never was he spoiled, for he never got a chance to be. His noble parents weren’t mages, yet their Son was aspected towards the Light, like how their own parents were powerful mages, forcing them to make their own way in the world through business ventures, so they almost never had contact with the mages of Regalia until shortly before Elliot was born.

Elliot’s parents were drawn to Vivifica one day, introduced themselves to the Maestra of the time and shortly afterwards did Elliot’s Mother go into labour with no chance of reaching a hospital in time, she gave birth within the Court and survived, something they have since likened to fate in their talks with Elliot while spurring him to stay on his long, difficult path.

In his early teens, Elliot began to suffer vague visions of a blood red sky, becoming more aggressive during sparring and irritable prior to education sessions and written tests. The early stages of his Blood Lunacy were barely noticeable at this point, namely due to Elliot refraining from talking about it, so his peers chalked it down to teenage angst. Pushing through this red haze, Elliot excelled academically and practically, proving himself a capable Court Mage. His strength-based philosophies manifested shortly afterwards, preferring to apply his logic practically and with purpose.

The fervor and zeal he went about his tasks, fights and subsequent victories and losses increased as his visions became clearer, solidifying his fears when he finally bore witness to the Crimson Moon in a lucid nightmare. This vision of doom preceded Vivifica’s defecting from the other Courts as per Maestra Aislinn’s order and the need to gather the illegal Itika from the Valley of Magic.

Elliot’s theories as to what the Crimson Moon, which he has named “Dalamud”, a name from a forgotten dialect simply meaning “Red Moon of Destruction”, vary by the day, but one common factor is his belief that Dalamud heralds the destruction of Regalia as all know it. But what confounds him to this day is why he feels more and more empowered the clearer the visions get.

Name: Gabriel Woods, The Soaring Raven

Age: 30

Gender: Male

Appearance: 6'3'', neck-length, black hair and stubble beard. Gabriel is often clad in light chest armour, arm guards, trousers, a long hooded cape pinned upon him by a silver raven charm, thick boots, a belt of many things such as his sword, money and anything else he needs in pouches. His eyes are a rare dark green and his build is an agile, but strong one.

Court Affiliation: Unaffiliated, Bounty Hunter, Mercenary, Partnered with Arno Cross

Weapons: Nevermore, Soaring Blade - A long, simple looking broadsword that has served Gabriel well in his time as a Mercenary. The fuller is engraved with words in an unknown language, the pommel has a few tiny symbols around its small, triangular gap in the middle and it is charged with Itika, raw mana, banned from the land of Regalia outright, granting it currently unknown powers, but Gabriel didn't do this himself, because during a job gone wrong, his sword was stolen by a particularly rogue member of Court Vivifica, who enhanced the blade with some stolen Itika against his will.

Raven's Imprecation - Magically-charged, single action Revolver that fires high-powered, burning projectiles at high speed. Though its appearance is simple, the black-coloration was not done with paint, but it was dyed that way from being exposed to so much dark energy.

582367
Magic: Charged Dark Energy, Polymorphy and Itika Potential.

An agile, powerful bruiser at heart, Gabriel can assail opponents with dark energy, rapid, damaging sword strikes and hold his own very well in a duel even against a few opponents at once. He is capable of flight by transforming into a large, darkness-enshrouded Raven, for travel or combat application where necessary, can focus his dark energy into his fist for a ground pound that'll send enemies flying or at least shake them to their cores, temporary boosts of speed accompanied by trails of darkness and black feathers, sword beams, charged shots from his revolver and the usual, standard powers that one can use with Darkness flowing through them.

Itika bears unknown levels of potential, meaning its benefits for Gabriel are unknown, but he's hoping it'll pay off at some point.

Personality: An astonishingly courteous, talkative man who's been in the business for quite some time now, having made a name for himself fairly early on. While a motivator of his is primarily money, gold, the like, he won't choose it over friends or lives he considers innocent, preferring to do the right thing, while being a troublesome at least and terrifying at most force against his marks, making liberal use of his transformation powers, darkness and sometimes blinding speed. Gabriel lives for thrills however, leading him to seek big and powerful targets, hoping one day he gets contracted to kill a giant monster. He has thoughts on the Feud between the Courts, particularly the departure of Vivifica after meeting the man who either blessed or cursed his sword, he doesn't know which yet, but generally keeps it to himself unless prompted or its necessary, not wanting to seem biased to his potential customers unless it meets the previous criteria.

Fitting for someone in his line of work, Gabriel bears the gift of the silver tongue, which has gotten him out of trouble without even needing to raise his sword more than a few times and gotten him into people's good books, the ladies included.

Background: Born in "None of your business, friend" as he prefers to state, but in truth, he doesn't remember where he's from, who his parents are or why his earliest memory is from when he was seven, standing outside in the rain in front of a Tavern. And even that one is fuzzy for reasons other than the ones people would expect. Gabriel wasn't a fool though, for he would later come to the conclusion that someone has screwed with his memories of the past, perhaps even brainwashed him, he dreads to think any deeper than that, but he used his time wisely by his standards, taking odd jobs at first, but would become a full-time Mercenary at age 17, that he remembers very clearly, just like everything afterwards. Almost too perfectly, especially compared to some events before that.

For the next 13 years, he would add Bounty Hunter to his list of jobs, take out many a nefarious target, run his mouth where needed, take a few hits here and there and end up in a fair few sticky situations, most of them still ending with a good payday from his grateful, happy client. Otherwise, he just pilfers from the dead, justifying that they were jackasses or creeps anyway, they weren't gonna use them even when they were alive before meeting him.

A couple of months ago from now was a very eventful day indeed. During a hit on a troublesome "Nomad", one of the terms coined for Mages who don't belong to any particular court or even do jobs like Merc work, Gabriel bumped into Arno Cross, a fellow Bounty Hunter and Mercenary, after they were both captured in a surprise attack by the Nomad, who knew he was being trailed. While bound, they got to talking and even the loner that was Arno indulged the wordsmith Gabe, soon leading to Gabriel escaping his binds. He then had a choice: Pursue the mark and leave Arno for dead or free him and split the profits due to the joint job. In less than a second, Gabriel chose the latter, not wanting to leave his new friend behind.

Together, they got the jump on the Nomad this time, put him down and got paid. Ever since, a grateful Arno, who'd never say it really, has allowed Gabriel to tag along with him, granting the side effect of bolstering both of their reputations as word spread that two of the top Mercenaries and Bounty Hunters in the land were now working together...

Name: Soren Monroe, Fractured Bulwark of Ignis

Age: 37

Gender: Male

Appearance: 7'2, strong build, pale, burnt, withered, damaged skin, corrupted complexion and red, fiery irises that fade into a yellow nearer to his pupils. Soren is bald due to his grave accident and wears a respirator-like device over his mouth, built with a combination of the most advanced technology of the time and magic to allow him to breathe. He wears dark-colored armour, with large, angular shoulder pads, Ignis-symbols where appropriate, leather gloves, thick, shin high boots, a long flowing black cape with a hood, all of it interlaced over his respirator system to protect it as well as his body. The armour, like his respirator, is enchanted with Soren's magic to strengthen it further.

Court Affiliation: Ignis

Weapons: Blade of Cinder - A large greatsword infused with the power of fire, allowing Soren to wreathe the large blade in flame whenever it is drawn and has served him well for many years.

Magic: Fire Mastery, Telekinesis, Earth Control, Physical and Spiritual Corruption

Soren has been a longstanding warrior and mage for the Ignis Court, not only capable of great power with their represented elements of Fire and Earth, but with a less visible force that grants him an edge in combat in the form of Telekinesis, to lift vulnerable opponents, pick up and toss inanimate objects and crush said objects, foes or their throats. What he can lift is only limited by his current power level and his mind, which already bears a strong will due to all he has endured and in desperate, or incredibly emotional moments, can perform great feats with any of his powers that will leave him exhausted but likely, with a defeated or wounded opponent.

Due to an accident that has left Soren scarred, deformed and in need of his magic/tech respirator in order to breathe, Soren's body and spirit have invited a corrupting darkness within him. It's both a blessing and a curse, for this darkness is what fueled his anger and hate, allowing him to survive his injuries in the first place, but now it is beginning to have its way with him, slowly but surely altering him and has already had a great effect, due to his eyes changing colour permanently, when it was just an initial change at first, along with his demeanor shifting over time. It has also affected his powers, his flames are dark blue rather than the usual orange-yellow and everything he does bears an aura, or at least a tinge of darkness to it, even his telekinesis.

Personality: Before his accident, Soren was always a bit of a grump. A snarky, old grump even at a younger age, but he always demonstrated a caring side to his comrades and those in need. After the event which left him considerably scarred and damaged, Soren has become bitter and a little lost, partly from injuries, his need for a respirator but also partly from his corruption due to allowing the Darkness the fuel his anger and hate in order to even survive. He's unsure exactly where he stands in the world, which is a dangerous place to be, as being so far on the brink can very well lead to a fall from grace. He thinks and acts like an Ignis, acting in the best interests of others, but his tainted body and spirit, the darkness that sustained him long enough to allow his respirator to be conceptualized, built and tested in such a short period of a desperate time, all have changed his outlook, for he seeks to eliminate his weakness, the damage done to him. He doesn't know how yet, but the lengths he will go to in order to find out are slowly but surely getting greater.

Background: Having been born and raised in the Ignis Court, Soren would take quickly to their teachings, becoming a stalwart warrior who embodied their core principles of doing his duty, bringing justice and protecting others, often stepping in to help his comrades both in combat and in butting heads with his superiors if they were being reprimanded for something he felt wasn't deserved or was being judged too harshly. In spite of this, he rose the ranks and his actions in battle and outside it had him become recognized as a Bulwark, a sentinel and insurmountable wall against their enemies and all who would bring harm to the innocent.

Ten years ago however, something was able to break this wall, to cause Soren irreparable damage that would change him forever. A rogue member of Ignis was causing problems for the Court for quite some time and Soren had sought to put them down for their treachery and the danger they posed toward the innocent, which all came to a head when the ex-Ignis initiated a brazen attack on the Court's headquarters, threatening to kill its master and all within its halls. The ex-Ignis stood before Soren and the other Ignis Warriors who fought alongside the Bulwark, wreathed in strange, crimson flames unlike any Ignis ever seen and was clearly half-mad at this point. Something was destroying the ex-Ignis from the inside out and piloting his body as a chaotic force of pain and destruction, causing his flames to burn hotter and with a ferocity no one could control, necessitating his quick demise. Soren ordered that there be no mercy for the unfortunate Traitor, so he was granted none, being assaulted viciously and without hesitation from all of the warriors, plus Soren, wounding him severely when he slipped up.

However before Soren could deal the killing blow, the possessed ex-Ignis suddenly exploded in a torrent of flame that immediately consumed Soren, burning his skin and scorching his lungs. The crimson flame spirit then blew its way through the Court's ceiling and escaped from Ignis, leaving Soren to scream in unimaginable agony for a good few moments. The other warriors went for help, but all hope was looking lost for Soren...until something changed. Soren's soul made a link to the Darkness and fueled his anger at the flame spirit, his hatred, his agony, all of it became fuel for it to sustain him temporarily. The man had always had some kind of link to the power, despite his being of Ignis, rather than Umbra, but it would save him that day, albeit with lasting consequences beyond his injury.

It took some time, a great deal of concern about Soren and his oddly yellow and red irises, along with how he was still screaming even when he slipped into unconsciousness from time to time, but eventually, they were able to help him, with a hastily put together respirator system that would be built upon later, but they had to prove the concept while Soren was still alive. The respirator was successful, but there wasn't enough power to keep it working for more than five minutes, necessitating the replacement of power cells repeatedly, it wasn't viable and would prevent Soren from fighting, so they then tried magic as a source of its power. This worked wonders, but only when Soren chipped in, for the technique they used for the now rune-powered rebreather required a link to its wearer. Once established, the system was given as many failsafes as possible to reinforce the unity of magic and technology, by special request from Soren, who would return to fighting 2 years after his grave injury, remaining a fractured, but reinvigorated Bulwark for Ignis.

Name: "Laguna", The Maelstrom

Age: Unknown

Gender: Unknown, bears an androgynous figure and masked voice.

Appearance: 5'9, almost always floating slightly off the ground, dons a full-body covering set of hooded robes, soft-fabric trousers, gloves, simple shoes and an ornate, completely face covering mask, with eyeholes that cannot be peered into with any results, only allowing any eye glow to be seen when Laguna uses their powers. All of this covers a fairly androgynous body as mentioned before, along with a magically modulated voice, all disguising who Laguna truly is, what they look like and even their name is an alias. The robes are a mixture of dark blues and grays, with a large Somnum emblem emblazoned upon the back. The palms of Laguna's hands are engraved through the gloves and their skin with magical runes, that serve a purpose.

HPKWuPV.jpg
582368
Court Affiliation: Somnum

Weapons: Hammer of the Maelstrom, Mjolnir - Laguna's personal weapon, bearing resemblance to the weapon of the Thunder God Thor of Norse Mythology, from it's appearance down to the name.

Forged with Laguna's own hands long ago and enchanted, it is a weapon capable of channeling their powers as a vector, while also bearing its own strengths, such as incredible durability allowing the weapon to survive damage that would break any other hammer, sword or axe and a specific enchantment that prevents the hammer from being picked up and wielded by those it considers unworthy, feeling like an immense weight that cannot be lifted to those who are so. With a simple extending of Laguna's, or the worthy's hand, Mjolnir will fly to their hands and can be manipulated to intercept enemies, fly independently or spun by the leather strap and flung forward to initiate personal flight by its wielder, meaning the hammer is an excellent form of transportation.

While Laguna's powers are their own, this weapon in the hands of those who are worthy shall possess the power of Laguna so long as they hold it and if they already use at least some of Laguna's powers, they will be enhanced.

Magic: Weather Control, Thunder and Lightning Mastery, Mystical link to Mjolnir, some degree of the Arcane.

Fittingly for a wielder of such a hammer and member of the Somnum Court, Laguna possesses the ability to generate and control electricity in a variety of destructive forms, from lightning bolts from the skies, channeled streams of electricity, wreathing their body in lightning, electric orbs, blasts of electrically charged energy to knock opponents off-balance and the list goes on. Whether it is through use of Mjolnir or their own power, Laguna controls their abilities with the skills of a master, including the power to influence and control the weather to generate storms, fly and float above ground, charge Mjolnir or their fist with electricity then initiate a devastating ground-pound or just enhance their blows with the weapon or otherwise with their energies.

Laguna possesses greater durability, strength and speed than non-mages, possesses knowledge and wisdom that would suggest they have lived for a long time, longer than most people and can use the Arcane, though it is still seen as Lightning, to change their attire to whatever they desire, but for a long time, Laguna hasn't diverged from the hooded robes and mask.

Personality: A truly altruistic, caring yet mysterious Somnum Mage, Laguna earns either the ire and suspicion of those around them, or the unwavering trust and understanding of others. Most Somnum should feel a sense of camaraderie with Laguna in spire of their deliberate hiding of their face, gender and past, by making people know and potentially appreciate the person they are now, be it through simple chatter or gestures of affection, or greater acts of kindness or even great justice for those who are wronged. Laguna's attentive, always listening and frequently ponders on the meaning of words spoken to them or the actions they have witnessed, leading them to be incredibly considerate of their own actions and words, knowing that they will have a great effect on the future and the world around them, but it by no means makes them hesitant, cowardly or inactive, rather the opposite of all three in dire situations especially.

Laguna is however personally disgusted by Vivifica's discarding of the old ways and subsequent cutting ties with the other courts, viewing them as dangerous, reckless and potentially power-hungry and will view any member their come across with skepticism, great suspicion and hostility. This attitude extends to the morally dubious, the criminal and truly malevolent beings of the world that Laguna has and may come across.

Background: Very little is known of Laguna's past before they came to join the Somnum Court, when they entered its halls masked, robed and only calling themself "Laguna" without revealing a gender or their true voice, Laguna was met with great suspicion and initially refused by the elders of Somnum, but through simple, calm insistence and the demonstration of their powers, along with a clear love for the ideals of the court the elders were convinced to grant Laguna the chance to prove themselves further under their wing and officially inducted them.

For the next several years beyond that, Laguna would learn the ways of Somnum, fight in battles in their name and further their abilities, but at first made little in the way of friends despite Laguna's friendly demeanor, their colleagues weren't sure what to make of them at first, but would still fight alongside them whenever the need arose. The title of "The Maelstrom" was an unofficial nickname at first, after their colleagues witnessed their abilities firsthand in sparring, but would later become an official title when Laguna's power won them several important battles, saved the lives of fellow Somnum and stuck their neck out to protect those who needed help, earning them several honours, the title and the respect of their now comrades in Somnum.

Name: Isabelle Cinque

Age: 21

Gender: Female

Court affiliation (if any): Umbra

Weapons: Longsword, Rapier

Magic: Blood Magic
Isabelle was forced to deeply practice this dark art in conjunction with her ice and water magic. Blood is always the primary catalyst to any spell she casts. An ignition to the dark combinations of her forced magics.

The Corpse Puppetry spell. A spell that lets you temporarily fight using a corpse as a weapon. For a short time it casts and fights like it was alive and your ally. A dangerous spell indeed and one that her family strained for her to learn. Its a signature spell for the Cinque family but its not unique to them.

Water Magic is the second state of her spells. Blood rain, blood whips, all of which are controlled through this secondary state of her magic. This is often thephase where Isabelle spreads her area of control around.

ice magic is her final state. This is the execution phase of her magic.Blood spikes, blades, a hail of blood, so on and so forth this is the phase that isabelle often kills her prey. If they havent yet died for the concentrated blood loss

Personality: she is kind and respectful of her peers. Idolizing mages from many other courts. She oftwn seems troubled and care free. Choosing her own path rather than following others.

In a fight she is smart, fast on her feet, and very good at stopping her foes in their tracks. If possible she will usually outnumber her foe with a fallen ally of hers or theirs.

Background: Coming from Noble blood, Isabelle was raised on the ideals of superiority and power. The Cinque family was one with such ideals to the point that their members are all branded with the family mark only if they are viewed as worthy of the family name.

The magical and physical skills in this family were to be worked on to the point of near death. Those skills were viewed as a birthright of their own that MUST be acted on.

To learn the family spell Isabelle suffered for months in a cold room with 2 corpses and would only be fed and give. water when she was able to show improvement in her magic. Her mana certainly improved in a short time span. And only got stronger from there. She received stories of great mages from the servants that brought her food from time to time. These gave her hope and made her strong.

Several years later she was given a sword and told to defend herself by her father. He then lashed at her with a blade of his own. These suprise attacks and dueling practices made quick work to improve Issabelle’s swordsmenship, even in dresses during balls. She began to activly chose clothing that looked classy but allowed improved mobility after some time.

Eventually for her 18th birthday she was brought to her father’s study where she found him waiting for her with a box and a branding iron. It was time she would be marked as a full fledged Cinque. The family mark, A malefic and twisted Owl eclipsing the moon, was searing permanently into her back. She was then presented a small Ruby Bracelet. Another mark of the families preference towards blood magic and what would happen if someone were to dare challenge a member of their house.

“I dont want to go back. I want to move forward... and find my answers”

Name: Issabelle Cinque

Age: 19

Gender: Female

Court affiliation (if any): Umbra

Weapons: Longsword, Rapier

Magic: Blood Magic (Corpse Puppetry), Ice Magic, Water Magic

Personality: a bit full of herself and far gone in her beleifs that mages should stand above all those who are magic-less, or untrained, or unskilled in magic. Magcians are a dominant for in her mind. Beyond these ideas she is kind and respectful of her peers.

In a fight she is rambunctious, preffering to taunt her foes into making a mistake rather than focusing on herself. If possible she will usually outnumber her foe with a fallen ally of hers or theirs.

Accepted! Feel free to insert her into the current scenario on the Big Bridge, if you wish.

Name: "Darkslayer" "The Reaper" "Strider" "Avenger of Mages" "Ronin of the Shade" "The Elusive Hood" "Phantom/Spectre" "Demon of the Night", the list goes on.

Real Name: Unknown, but is known by his titles and achievements.

Age: Unknown

Gender: Male

Appearance:
Nl6BPc3.jpg

Court Affiliation: Unaffiliated

Weapons:

Vengeance - The Slayer's main weapon of choice; a regular length katana but the blade is wider than most and the extra space has several grooves cut into it (The sword pictured above.). This blade has been soaked in the blood of various men and women who's souls were seeped in malice, nefarious deeds and the lives of mages and other innocents that they had taken. Some say that the souls of those he kills are forever bound within the blade, where they shall never find peace, others say the sword acts as a channel to the Slayer, who when he kills his enemies, takes their life force from them as they perish to sustain himself and increase his power. It's all speculation, but some theories would explain why this hooded, shadowy figure has been around for so long, with sightings of the Slayer going back almost one hundred years, though some say longer.

Retribution - A shorter blade akin to a wakizashi that can be used in tandem with Vengeance or used on its own during the Slayer's wetworks missions to quickly assassinate unknowing targets. There is a strange energy flowing over the blade, giving it a very slight glow though it can be dimmed during the aforementioned wetworks as to avoid being seen. The energy is a mixture of purple, blue and even a dark green constantly shifting over the weapon. Those who have been rescued by the Slayer theorize that the blade is a talisman of the mythical Bifrost, an endless lane of the gods utilized as transportation across great distances to anywhere one sees fit. There is credence to this theory, as the Slayer has been known to arrive far sooner than one might expect, though this could be due to planning out his attack or just perfect timing. It's slightly ornate designs adorning the grip could suggest that it is indeed a talisman or ceremonial blade of some form, but as to what it truly serves as beyond a killing weapon, it is hard to say.

Adjudicator - A repeating crossbow that utilizes a rotating cylinder to fire off multiple crossbow bolts in quick succession at distant targets. Reloading is quick and the velocity of the bolts is incredible, as is the Slayer's marksmanship. The bolts are said to sear a guilty soul to its core upon impact, though some suggest it is merely a poison crossed with a minor hallucinogenic that induces the feeling of ones soul being scorched and judgement falling upon them. Either has credence, particularly as the bolts are not visibly coated with poison, but it could easily be an odorless, tasteless and nigh-invisible thin coating upon them.

Magic: Arcane Mastery, Ancient Magics, Reportedly Incredible Longevity.

The Slayer is capable of great feats of magic in combat, utilizing a combination of the known Arcane Arts and some magical powers that are disused in the present age, mostly the ones that once required sigils or were too difficult, powerful or dangerous for Mages of the current age to use, lending further credence to the theory that The Slayer is long-lived, though it's entirely possible that they read up on the ancient tomes of mages from ages past and sought to adapt them into the current era. Conjuring arcane force barriers that soak up bullets, arrows or other projectiles, magical or otherwise, and redirect their collected force at his foes, releasing unfocused, but deadly AoE blasts of Arcane, firing off concentrated bolts and beams of Arcane energy and other such means, The Slayer initially comes off as an atypical, but powerful Arcane Mage. However, the moment sigils start forming around his wrists, hands or both, all bets are off.

These sigils allow The Slayer to perform Magical Feats that have gone unseen for millennia, such as green sigils that reverse the local time of certain objects to revert them to their previous state, i.e, an exploded wall to provide an escape vector, but to prevent foes following, Slayer can reverse time in that localized area to repair the wall to a state as if it was never broken. Orange sigils that are more general purpose, such as the projection of a strange energy that can harm foes with orbs of the stuff or lassos that if left long enough, start to truly attack the victims soul and can be used as a limited form of telekinesis. Red sigils are the most offensive and potentially the most dangerous, as it means The Slayer will either produce jets of crimson flames that burn hotter than any known flame and will burn away weak minds to a crisp or if the sigil is upon the ground beneath The Slayer and the correct motions are performed, he will call down a crimson meteor storm to decimate larger groups of foes. These are only a few of the powers these sigils can call upon, but each and every one requires The Slayer to perform some kind of motion to summon the sigil in the first place and further gestures and movements to perform the power, with more advanced powers requiring more motions and some have to be constant to keep it going.

Personality: The Bearer of Many Names's first and foremost quality is his empathy and dedication to protecting mages all across the world from prejudice, cruelty, ostracism, injustice and an untimely death, often going out of his way to save a mage in need. He does not lack in care or empathy for the non-magical people, of course, but the main object of focus in his crusade has been those who commit great wrongdoings, be it against mages or not, he will respond with righteous, unmerciful fury, never leaving a single soul alive to tell the tale from their perspective about The Reaper. Common thieves, petty burglaries and desperate people might earn his mercy with a second and only chance, but arsonists, murderers, rapists, gang members, committers of organized crime and other such criminals will be given no quarter and will perish despite any begging, retreat or attempts to bargain. The Darkslayer has been likened to an Avatar of Vengeance, a Punisher, a Relentless Pursuer of Revenge and will stop at nothing to kill all who would dare to commit terrible crimes and acts of prejudice against Mages is received no better, to which he will still respond with deadly force if that's what it takes to rescue the victims from the verbal abuse, physical assault or wrongful imprisonment they suffer.

Those who have seen his eyes know that they are white, pale and indistinguishable, though he is not blind, have seen the expression of a furious, unrelenting yet pained main who has clearly experienced loss on a great scale before in his life but projects it on all those who are likely to cause such devastation and pain in the future. The Spectre wears his heart upon his sleeve, but can sometimes appear detached, cold and uncaring, suggesting he either suffers from mood swings or has a great emotional range when it comes to the malicious or misguided, knowing how to respond to them accordingly, but it will seem that his mood changes suddenly and fully.

Background: Not much is known to anyone about Strider's past, with many of the details being known only to the man himself and he is reluctant to share much, only the bare minimum. From what people have observed, he is a troubled, despairing man who has suffered incredible loss, more than anyone should ever have to in their lifetime, but he is more than capable of channeling his rage and desire for vengeance into something good, something worth fighting for: The punishment and elimination of criminal and evil elements in the world and ensure those who come afterward are too afraid to act lest they be set upon by the Ronin of the Shade. Initially, victims of the Reaper's attacks were only beaten badly or knocked unconscious, but every time, they returned to their life of crime to put more people in danger once more, so at some point in time, The Ronin started dealing with them more permanently and hasn't deviated from this method since, not even escalating brutality, as he usually kills his opponents quickly and aims to be lethal with every strike, frequently finishing off badly wounded opponents rather than allow them to bleed out, with very rare exceptions depending on their actions, but he still makes sure that they will indeed bleed to death, as to not allow even the remote chance that they will survive.

Children who have been rescued by the Ronin have referred to him as "Cool" and "a little scary" but he has always been comforting to them during trying times, suggesting the man has a heart that isn't numb, perhaps even forged from gold, particularly as even if they are involved in crime, The Slayer never kills children, knowing that they always have a chance to be better and can be saved from a life of crime, but has noticeably less faith in grown adults, as they have proven to him time and again that they cannot be redeemed. In recent history, The Ronin has killed a prolific Crime Lord and struck against a Yakuza-like group numerous times in the past few years, while also coming out in support of the Four Courts as a whole, but keeping his beliefs a secret beyond that.

(Okay, here is my sixth character. I will manage, but let me know if he needs adjustment.)

(Okay, here is my sixth character. I will manage, but let me know if he needs adjustment.)
Ronin is accepted, though with a slight adjustment. Unaffiliated mages have a tendency to be a danger to themselves and society because their magic is unwieldy and untrained. Sometimes such mages are immensely powerful (Kiev), but are reckless and dangerous. I don't believe that he would have mastery of his magic, unless he was once affiliated with a mage court at one point and since left.

Also, where we are at right now I'm not sure how to incorporate another unaffiliated character into the current scenarios (and I'm not sure that I want to create a 7th). A court mage, yes, because I can lump them in whichever group, but unaffiliated is a bit harder to integrate. If you have any ideas for him you are welcome to place him, otherwise I can come up with a starting scenario but it might have to wait until we're out of the prologue and into chapter 1.

There was the Vivica gets arrested and thw unaffiliated were sent to bust them out idea. Idk if thats ok but it was funny

He could be passing through the stable after the the Dauntless arrives at port, getting hired to guard the Somnum group as they travel to Sanctus Heights.

Name: Aquilla Anistar

Age: 23

Gender: Female

Court affiliation (if any): Ignis

Weapons: Enchanted Longsword named Frostlash. Its only ability is to syphon ice magic from the user to get a few inches longer. The ice itself is fairly brittle, falling apart easily, be it from parrying or blocking.

589600

Magic: Thermal Manipulation (Fire and Ice)

Personality: Quiet, Dutiful. Hard Working, but Very Nervous. Feels often lesser to the other mages due to her deficiencies.

Background: Born with a horribly small pool of mana, Aquilla’s Deficiency seemed to define her life. It made it difficult to learn how to control her magic and further more expel it from her body in the form of a spell. Often times she would just end up coating her body in ice.

Her family, being Somnum mages themselves, frowned upon this seeing her as a bit of a failure compared to her siblings. It only got worse when she was turned away from the court itself. Her mana was far too low and her magic was far from passable. Depressed from the constant gaze of disappointment from her family, she left.

Her travels brought her to the ignis court. She wanted to with all her heart, become a court mage, she wanted to prove them wrong. Luckly, fire magic came surprisingly easy. Whatever significance it held soon died out when she realized something was wrong, she couldnt cast without a prexisting source of fire. But this wouldnt stop her. She was determined. So she bought an enchanted sword and a lighter. Aiming to use these items as somewhat of a crutch till she could successfully cast without their help.

That is a very good idea! Perhaps Nero Kunivas Nero Kunivas would be fond of this as well. It is a shame that Umbra didn't have something like this.
