okay, so basically, single characters will intermingle back and forth without being on any unifying mission. That sounds great, in theory. Except I've been on a lot of Discord RP groups that function like this, and more often than not, I just wind up RPing alone in my own narrative w/out anyone being particularly interested in writing with me.

I typically only make one main character in any given RP. I might make some supporting characters to surround them. But I usually do not make a slew of characters to roleplay as in different roles. I am a woman of singular focus. lol

Well, I am definitely up for filling an antagonistic role. Just not anything particularly powerful. I like to play low powered, underdog roles. No ambitions to rule the world, here
I like that singular focus. But do not fret. Unless our community became humongous, myself or another mod will be available to rp with the characters who are more solo in nature or just unable to find common cause with the others or assist in playing the antagonist role in an rp system like this. Thread invasions and what not.

Here's an idea of a character I would want to adapt to the setting

Looking over the character, it should be possible to achieve in time. At the beginning you will not be nearly so well stocked and you will not have earned the right to lead a gang of goblins.

We are using racial evolution so you'll start as a gobling or other base gobliod with limited special features. You will then over time acquire or strengthen your skills and abilities to evolve into a horned goblin. With power comes the time and experience necessary to accrue followers to your band of neer do wells.

So achievable but will take time and effort.

so essentially, I would start her off as a (child) and grow her into this role. Totally acceptable for me!
Though I imagine my RP narrative would be pretty limited for a while as a goblin child. But I'm willing to work through that via storyline

Here's some writing samples of mine, just so you can get a gist of my RP style:

And here is one on-site that you can scope out (though the RP itself is dead):

For now, stay tuned to this thread. We are actively fleshing out parts of the system and constructing the threads that will be used for the system. Updates will be put here or messaged to you directly as they happen.

Also feel free to mention other ideas and requests for what you might like so it can be considered.
Also I know you said updates will be given but is there any estimated date when everything will be finished be? It doesn't have to be an exact date, honestly, it could just be a loosely determined date just wanted to know!

Within a week you will be seeing additional content. Specifically rules and setting information. The list of skills and abilities you will use to develop and customize your character is an ongoing effort. Even when characters are being created and the role play start, we will still be modifying and enhancing the system as situations arise or suggestions are put in

Good question. The answer may be less desirable but the dact of the matter is an isekai journey is largely an individual one. What this means is that rather than everyone forcing their ideals into a single thread, those of like minds or those with mutual cause will group up for a time, perhaps in a single rp or multiple and then go their own ways as their own narrative dictates.

In the example of the goblin marauder and the humanoid aristocrat, the 2 characters may meet in common cause against an imposing lord or antagonistic force. Or they may meet and are at odds in a more pvp flavored thread like goblin raid on noble carriage. But when their reason for being in the same thread disappears they will part.

World event rps will be ones that typically try to impact everyone so there will be moments where evryone could plausibly come together. But the majority of the time your character and you the rper will be deciding thr company you keep in this big world.

Multiple characters is an option as well. Assuming you wish to play with your friend but you can't think of a good reason to bring character x into things, you can bring character y in.

I know some rps stick evryone in the same thread and just tell grouos to mention each other, but that can get a little unwieldy. Seperate rps all linking back to the same character roster and world setting would be a likely move to handle the potential many characters with varied interests to develop and tell their stories.
Do you plan to GM each individual player?

Great, thank you so much!

One of the thoughts for kicking things off would be to do a world event right off the bat. Characters waking up or otherwise becoming aware of their situation and being given a bit of a starter mission by the god figure that made their transition possible.

Do we all have to be reincarnated people waking up in the word? Or can we be naturally from the world as the "indigenous souls" so to speak?

I won't stop anyone if they want to be a native. Just a bit odd in an isekai themed rp. Additionally, the isekai folk get narrative reasons for their mechanical advantages and some of their abilities. Could also go the route of 'soul came from someplace else and character doesn't remember or care', thus they get advantages without clearly knowing why.

For those watching the thread, are there any elements of the system or the world you would like a peek at before we start putting up the 'official' threads for the 'finished' content?

Maybe you have input on the sorts of places there are in the world or you have some comments about how the rules or systems might work that would make it more interesting to you.

Could we get a peek at the continent or country our characters will be waking up in? 👀

Yes and No. In order for the world to accomodate the many stories that may be told in it, there needs to be some room for sandboxing. Want to setup your own town? Need a particular biom of pink floating trees? So to allow for such things, there will be 'blank' portions of map where folks can feel free to fill in what they like as they adventure around. Part of the living world idea will be as rp's in the setting are finished, any changes or creations to the world will be added to map or at least made mention of. The map i will show you is bound to change as our rp does.

What I can show is general shape of the world, the sorts of terrain and biome on it. Names of a few kingdoms will be present as well. Rest of the world will be large swathes of wilderness with no name towns and villages and perhaps secret villages of folk not wishing to deal with the world as a whole.

The world, on the surface, is not particularly different from earth and is similarly sized (slightly smaller). The world has 2 known continents and plenty of ocean around them. Has elevated mountains with frosty peaks and forested woodlands. Both continents have massive lakes in their centers and form something similar to the gulf of mexico in it's positioning near the equator between north and south america. Let me know if you want more details. I can get more details and information on specific regions with more focus. At this distance, kingdoms don't mean much. So an option would be to zoom in on one of the continents and perhaps see some of their nation borders.

Should be noted that the setting will have "Magic Portals" as a means of fast travel between major hubs, so the size of the world being a planet will not likely cause a logistics issue. A common problem of "I would join you on adventure by my character is on another continent" will not be much of an issue. Simply assume characters can relocate to travel hubs between rp's and the character could literally go wherever they need to to meet up and adventure/mission/trade/etc.

Despite the portals, it's not practical to use for large groups or mass quantities of merchandise. There is still a need for carriages, wagons, and merchant caravans. Ships sail between continents on the regular.

Additionally, some may ask why the rp world is so big. What is the point in a 'world' if most of the action and characters are in 1 city and never go to see or explore anything else?

Well, mainly it is to let them know it is out there. That it might inspire further adventure and questing on the players' parts. You get a desire to run a desert rp, there's a few. You want to venture into the frozen north (or south), it's there. Both sea, mountain, and forests are obviously present, but what about traveling across frozen land with next to no snow to speak of? There's swamps filled with monsters and rot. Hill country crawling with giants. Ranges of mountains serving as borders between nations and gateways into some more secluded areas.

A good map inspires the question "What's over there" and leads to the following statement "Let's go find out".

Places of significance like major cities and landmarks will obviously be indicated though.

I'm gonna join. Do I have to say something like what my character is?
Nope. That's all it really takes. All posts in this thread will probably alert you. Eventually when the System/world/Rp posts start appearing, you will be contacted. We hope you'll stick around and mention what elements of a fantasy world or isekai interests you.

A common part of fantasy world is the believe that elements have power and it is from them that many magics draw their power. What elements would you like to see in the world or might consider using? Some common ones likely to make an appearence:
  • Fire
  • Water -
  • Earth - the various minerals and solid elements that make up the ground on which everything sits
  • Wind - not to be confused with dissolved gases in liquids or solids, this is moving air
  • Ice
  • Lightning
  • Space - the presence and absence of 'matter' and elements
  • Light - illumination and healing
  • Dark - loosely associated with magics of a more taboo nature, subterfuge and draining
  • Heart - generally associated with emotions and thoughts of creatures
