“Let us agree to give up love
And root up the infernal grove.
Then we shall return and see
The worlds of happy Eternity.

And throughout all Eternity
I forgive you, you forgive me,
As I, dear Redeemer, said: —
This the wine and this the bread.”
- Excerpt from “Broken Love”, William Blake

7:13 PM

The red sun hung low.
A lurid blotch, a sickly blister in the Stygian sky, a bead of vermilion amid a canvas of black, endless black, looming overhead only at the mercy of the flimsy red wires which anchored it to earth. It bore down with tangerine lusterlessness, casting merely a dim gaslight glow unbefitting of a celestial, wrinkles of muscle contracting and dilating over its surface with a string of rhythmic “thu-thumps”, faintly audible like the distant drum of construction.

The city below gave way to this gangrene torch-- a high-line landscape quilled with strings of red innumerable, each ascending the atmosphere to tether the sun. The buildings, tall and rangy, strung together by those same scarlet threads, were of decrepit, brutalist masonry and rustic carbon alike, adhesive to the touch from some gelatinous substance - thick, spongy, vivid paint which percolated the walls, oozing out in streaks, as though the monochrome concrete was squeezed of neon pus.

Save for that starbound percussion and the whistle of wind coursing the puddled roads, the City of Sorrows stood deathly quiet. Where Shadows once trudged aimlessly upon shallow waters, there was now not a soul in sight or earshot, only the omnipresent judgement of the beating sun.

Then, a voice. Soft, soothing, wary. And, the gentle swash of rainpaint under footfall.
Ryota Katsuragawa eyed a Lilliputian child, vaguely boyish, draped in mud-soaked schmattes and utterly unresponsive at the far end of the street - his gaze trailed the figure’s idle sway, crossed in contemplation. He called out again, his tone beginning to show demur.

“H… Hello? Are you lost?”

No response. Only the downpour.
Naofumi Asado clenched the twine grip of his bo staff firmer, flanking his companion, wary of the vagrant child. Though Ryota shared in the unease, he drew closer in cautious strides, slowly discerning the boy’s muddled features. The drenched rags which hugged his pale, ethereal skin, he recognized quickly - the familiarity of that off-white cloth and those pinstripe slacks, that cherry ribbon and the silken vest, however torn and bleached time had worn them, each addressed him. The boy was a pupil of Nageku High, and though he couldn’t place his name, his age was telling of a first-year.

Mei Volkov and Yamato Shibata crept across the beaten pedway, brandishing their weapons.

“Ryota?”, the former called.

“Yeah?”

“Get back,” the latter commanded.

“It’s just a kid-”

Mei pressed. Her stony visage now seemed brittle, a hand held out to take his. “Please.”

Katsuragawa swallowed hard. The tension was saw-toothed, suffocating, almost paralytic. After a pause, he acquiesced.

The children moved swiftly, soundlessly. But then the crackle of static came afire, tumult in the acoustics of their thoughts, and they stopped - heads turned to meet in uncertainty. Naofumi tipped his chin and brought a finger to his ear.

“Isamu, do you read me?”

A deafening symphony. An anarchic tone. The handshake of a dial-up, hissing, seething, not in their ears but in their minds, almost head-splitting. Through the entropy of sound, they heard a warning--a telepathic plea--but it had come too late.

“Shit, there goes our navigation,” Asado murmured through grit teeth.

They heard a crack and a chew, like the snap of wood underfoot, and all eyes turned to the child, who jerked awake in spastic motions and bore an eyeless smile to the starless sky.

“Come out and play, Peter Pan.”

The block was consumed by a piercing flash and the miasma of gasoline. The boy fell limp, yet his smile persisted.

Then an arm tore loose from his back, thick and taloned, and his body, numb with transcendental agony, staggered feebly to its knees. Another member came undone from the shackles of his spine, and though the wound was noncorporeal, the pain was very, very real. The apparition clawed free, and set foot after quaking foot upon the asphalt which reflected its incandescence, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with its user.

It turned to glimpse the children, and through the rain its horror was mercifully bedimmed-- but not enough. It walked on digitigrade feet, tri-toed with nails that carved the road, and heels that twinkled with what fairy dust seeped from the seams in their wood-flesh. A tunic of foliage, riddled with wounds of decay and formed of only fragile clumps of frond, clung feebly to its festering physique. Its arms hung hunchback, shoulders freakishly low from the infantile face which mounted it all with skin of cracked, creased, wrinkled toy wax. Below its brow, there was a cloth, swaddled tight around its eyes and ears, so tight that its bulbs sunk against the damp yarn log which dragged and shifted restlessly across the bridge of its nose. So tight, even, that it seemed as though it wore the blindfold without choice.

Their eyes adjusted. It wasn’t a blindfold.

From its sockets and all the blisters in its skin, a parasitic wire, an arterial thread, a string of wool as red as blood itself probed the summon’s carcass. Where flesh tore, it emerged, and spun it stitches as though to hold the figure together. Where its eyes and ears peered into the outside world, the red string bundled and refused to budge, sheltering its innocent mind, which now found itself slowly crumbling.

“Oh, hell,” Naofumi hissed, breaking into a cold sweat.

Yamato knit his brow, unnerved but steadfast and ever stone-faced. He brought his great-axe to meet the stonework blade-first. “So the string’s taken to infecting Personas as well. How macabre.”

“Seems that way. Doesn’t look like we’re getting out of here without a fight-- brace yourselves.”

Ryota wanted to protest, to plead that the boy was harmless, but caught his tongue. He followed the red string that wound through wounds, that tapeworm of sanguineous yarn, with a solemn frown.
Mei placed a hand on his shoulder consolingly, her gaze empathetic but her grip on her tomahawk firm and unyielding.

“It’s okay,” she said. “We’ll free them. All of them.”

He nodded, drawing his crossbow reluctantly.

The stranger chattered incomprehensibly beneath his breath, seized in a maddened trance. Then his eyes arose, and gazes locked - his stare sullen, faded, devoid of any emotion, yet unnaturally wide, looking nowhere and everywhere all the same. His Persona shambled forward... then charged.

“We’ll be happy~,” he croaked, ”here in Neverland~.”

“... And for today’s story, five children have been reported missing - Asado Naofumi, Yoshida Isamu, Shibata Yamato, Volkov Mei and Katsuragawa Ryota were third-year students at Nageku High, last seen leaving their homes between 7~8 PM according to accounts from a first-year student who’d greeted them passing the school gate. Despite the gravity of the situation, the police have assured that there is little reason to worry. Kayatomi is one of the safest towns in Japan, after all, so it’s only a matter of time before this little hiccup is behind us. Further developments will  be reported as the case develops."

"One day I asked God, why can't I see my angel protecting me?"
Somewhere in the far, far distant rows, a little bit far away from any other of the students currently in the room, a boy had a panda hood covering his head as his head laid on his table.

While one might think he was simply wishing to stay quiet as to not cause trouble, but one that got closer could soon realize that indeed, the boy was just sleeping. The expression on his face was so calm and gentle, despite the situation he currently was on. A smile followed by the occasional soft snore coming from his mouth and nose. And occasionally- a little bubble of gross nasal matter forming on his nose-- growing, and soon disappearing from sight, in an almost comical, yet gross manner.

It's been less than an hour since he's gotten here, and he's fallen to the sin of sloth once again. How fun.

Headphones and eye covers were in his face, almost as if he was simply enjoying a little nap on his own home, with complete disregard of the problems that led him here. A carefree expression, almost like a kid that doesn't understand what the 'timeout corner' actually means.

...Granted, it doesn't mean anything, but this isn't exactly a timeout corner-- well, it is, buuuut. You could say it was more serious than anything else.

In other news-- this was the usual sight any from his class would be met with. Hiraku Namaya, the carrier of the sin of sloth. Listening to those weird and questionable videos to put one to sleep (even though everyone knew he didn't need it) and was drawing his usual arts like it was nothing. Truly, perhaps sloth gave some sort of inspiration to him, but it certainly wasn't for his studies, that was for sure. His small body almost made him be questioned as a kid, and his desk was...Simply mess with all those papers and drawings.

"Zzzz...Nyaaah~"

...Perhaps this wasn't the best place to put him on.

A boy sat happily in the front, his hands clasped and resting on the desk as he listened to the lady and glanced around at the others. He wasn't a runt, right? now that he thought about it he didn't really know why he was here, but then again it's not his place to argue against a teacher! that would be rude! he then looked back to the lady and responded: "That sounds like a great way to get kids to learn!" He happily exclaimed as he would give a beaming bright smile to the lady. "So then where will we be heading first? I hope it isn't somewhere too dangerous"

Community service? As if it wasn't bad enough to have been unable to convince his innocence on top of getting a locker to the face. The term 'runt' had not escaped his ears either but it was hardly a comment he minded.

Could have gone without saying it though, in his opinion at least. Especially with the company here. Just seemed like a bad idea to provoke the easily provoked, then again it would be foolish to start something when already in enough trouble.

It appeared today was in fact going to be one of those days. Far back, furthest from exit, closest to window, in for a pickle had become a hassle. A horrid heckle hacking haphazardly with complete abandon at a generally good day.

Picking up a mostly melted but still chilled icepack, Erasmus dabbed at his swollen, flushed, red-stained nose which almost gave him the appearance of a clown. Hearing the blonde gentleman up ahead ask his question Erasmus took the time to pull out a handkerchief from his pocket.

One dab. No more blood. It seemed he would be fine, just needed to take it easy. The nose spray popped out of his backpack, a spritz here and there and then he put it away.

Deciding to perhaps glance around just a moment to see who else was here he did just that. Shifting in his seat a tad, he looked. Then looked away. Looked. Then looked away. Skimming each and every individual to see if he noticed someone familiar perhaps, and then stopped when he saw the one sleeping.

"..."A tug at his lips formed a small smile. "Good to see someone is at least getting some rest." He whispered more than spoke. Seeing no one (though it could be argued he really just glanced at people briefly as staring was rather impolite) Erasmus took to look outside, miscolored eyes surveying the sky while he kept an ear out for new developments.

Minato sighed as she sat back on her chair as the teacher talked about their plans for Minato and the rest of her fellow detention members. Community service? Really? She thought shaking her head. All this because a teacher caught her taking her pills and thought they were illegal. It was not as simple as that, if she was honest, Minato had migraine at the time so was more than a little rude to the teacher in the process of explaining the situation. She got her pill back and the migraine had passed but the teacher still would not take the abusing language lightly even under the circumstances of her illness. Part of her understood the reason while another part of her was still irritated.

She leaned her head back to stretch it before looking around, particularly Hiru once again sleeping on the seat next to her. She groaned as sweet as his was, his narcolepsy could really get annoying sometime though she could hardly complain considering what they have been through. She slowly slipped her legs toward him and gave his leg a tap trying to wake him. "Hey, they are telling us what they are going to do with us, hon." She said softly to him.

"Mhm~?"

Slowly raising his head up, the sleeping boy took off his eye covers and took off one of the sides of his headphones, his eye slowly and lazily going to meet with Minato's leg-- soon following to her entire body. Soon, his smile rose up again, and with a little yawn, Hiru got up.

...But not before grabbing a few pencils, and started to draw something on his pages again.

Minato and Hiru were partners. Or lovers, like some said. It was a bit odd, frankly speaking, a sleepy artist and a girl with some problems. While they had their highs and lows, and Hiru wasn't sure what she saw in him, the carefree and airheaded boy seemed to genuinely care for Minato-- despite his overall essence not showing. He was just...Really slow to show it-- one might even call him a, well, 'sloth.' Friendly and lovable, but awfully slow.

Soon, just as quickly as he began, Hiru held his new drawing up high and showed it to Minato. It was a portrait of her, and while his style was...Unique-- almost lucid, it was something to raise an eyebrow at. He had talent, and Minato would know that.

"Good morning, Minato-chaaaaaaan~" Hiru lazily said, slipping the drawing to her. "Ah~! Sorry...I didn't pay attention...Hopefully the...teacher...isn't mad at me...Hehehe~"

Rubbing his eyes, he nodded at Minato.

"Ah~ I see...Well~...Maybe this...Could be a chance for us...to make some friends! These people look...Kakkoi..."

Let's liven up this place!
1584225317624.png

One's first venture into detention room could be quite the daunting experience; Merely being present implied foul play to some extent, which tarnished your academic record and personal image amongst peers and staff alike. Added to that was the fearful wonder over the despicable existences inherent to the environment, as well as over the detention teacher herself and whatever harsh punishment that she'd prepared for them, in this case, a menial, taxing spurt of community service. For those factors and a few more, it was to be expected that only the most detached and careless could endure the sheer atmosphere that permeated the classroom with poise and levity.
Unless, of course, that you were one of those despicable existences yourself!
Shirou Lancaster spared no expense establishing his characteristic presence to all in his sight; Feet over the table, chair pushed onto its back feet and hanging dangerously close to slipping one of the boy's hands held his cellphone, which vibrated with messages every couple seconds, while the other absent-mindedly played with his own, perfectly kempt hair strands. When Erasmus' gaze landed on Shirou, he was quick to react and offered him a nonchalant wink; Being the other british boy at the juncture, he couldn't help but feel interested at what had brought him here to Kayatomi and how he was faring at handling the transition. Judging by the nose, he had to guess it wasn't off to the best of starts.
For the most part, however, Shirou found no reason yet to interact with the others, be it the oddball couple exchanging pleasantries, the poor sod he had brought there himself - no doubt burning holes into him with a glare, should the lax senior care enough to check - nor the blonde, whom he spared but a concerned glance to ensure he was behaving properly. No, for him, the subject of interest was standing a few feet ahead, equal parts gorgeous and stingy, simply begging for some of his attention. Well, he was feeling generous today, so why not grant the wish?
"Oy." He called the detention Warden, not caring to wait for a response to Alex' question. "When do you get off from work? If I can't bark, then I'll settle for biting, honey." he added that last bit in perfect British English.

The fight hadn’t seemed like a big deal. It wasn’t as if she’d gotten more than a couple of swings in before getting knocked on her ass. The weight of her screw-up fell down about as soon as one of the teachers stumbled upon them. So now here she was, quite literally surrounded by thugs, her face bruised up, and digging the stubs of her nails into her elbows.

Yuzuki shrunk away from each perceived passing glance that she got from the other delinquents. She winced further from the blonde’s glare. Of course, she’d already heard about the missing students. It was all Katsura-san and the other workers had talked about that morning, in hushed tones so that they wouldn’t worry the children too much. How many times had Katsura-san told her to stay safe and out of trouble before she left for school this morning? Yuzuki winced. Would it look worse or better for her to cover up the bruises before she explained why she was late getting back?

A noisy blond boy broke the silence, and Yuzuki just looked at him and his misplaced enthusiasm. How a peppy guy like that ended up in here would be a mystery for the ages. The tension shattered, another loud-mouth took his chances, mouthing off to the detective.

“please don’t make this worse than it already is,” Yuzuki murmured.

Middle row, two desks from the centre. That was Kaida's desk, or at least, she liked and claimed it to be her desk. It was where she first sat when she got put into the hungry belly of the Beast that was detention. It wasn't right not to get cushy at that desk, not after what got her sitting there in the first place. First year, three weeks in, she was caught writing in a seperate notebook entirely unrelated to some excercise on Ancient History. A one-way ticket to detention, but it wasn't really what secured her journey there in the first place.

The teacher - Mr. Sugawara - demanded Kaida share her 'work' with the rest of the class. Now, normally Kaida wasn't one for sharing, especially in that notebook her therapist insist she keep on her person for her own personal use, but she had a goldmine of material that was perfect for the moment. So, she stood up from her desk as instructed, and read out the following passage:

There is truly no speciman like Sugawara. He has the perfect likeness of a rat that scurries around the Red Light District; the beady little eyes that zip from one end of the room to the other, the general dishevelled appearance of one that's just appeared from under a dumpster, and overgrown front teeth to feast on any piece of garbage that graces the floor - or in his case, the slop dropped in the school cafeteria...

Sugawara, naturally, went ape-shit. He couldn't get her to stop reading the rest of the insults she had piled up on that page, and Kaida - she would admit - went completely overboard. Not only did she get detention, but there was also a meeting chaired involving her father over the girl's horrible misconduct. Eiichi Fuyoku wholeheartedly promised the teacher, and the headmaster, that he would curb such behaviour and he would take the necessary steps to make sure Kaida brushes up her act. He took her home, discussed it with her for about ten minutes, though, grew uncomfortable with the atmosphere, and instead changed the subject to a surgery he performed on a dog that swallowed five pairs of its owner's underwear.

Kaida's behaviour was never quite curbed from then, and she found herself in detention for a number of other offenses. Those, however, are other stories, and today, she was in here for being caught skipping school. Apparently the one people that frequented the local seafood restaurant at 11am were old, wrinkling sags and truancing students. Not the most thought out place to hang whilst she skipped school, she would admit.

And now, here she was, feet up on her favourite desk, listening to some news report about the five missing kids from their school. Kaida couldn't have cared less. She didn't know them, and she didn't want to know them. They never popped up in her life, and never would, so why would she care about them? Instead, through the report, she glanced around the room, taking in the different faces that had graced detention this day. She recognised a few faces belonging to second-years, not that she had associated with many of them or at least, chose not to. One though, she noticed, was that kid with the two different eyes. It was some sort of condition he had, hetero...something or other. She forgot its name. Kaida had also forgotten his name - or well, didn't know it. She met him whilst she tucked into some poor guy's secret stash of food in the school. Apparently it was known to him too, and he was stealing what goodies he could. A fellow vulture, it seemed, though, the two hardly spoke to one another. She turned up the odd time it seemed to be stocked up again - as he had explained to her once - and most times she thought she had just missed him leaving from it, or him coming to it after she left it. Kaida didn't think much on it.

What she did think on though, was this woman standing at the front, hands hooked in her pockets, acting like she was as authorative as their teachers were. In a sense, she could, possibly being that little bit older than the majority of those who occupied the room. She hadn't a notion why this woman was even here, speaking to them, until she heard her explanation, and the words "community service". That got Kaida's attention, causing her to sit up, feet still on the desk, and staring at her as if she had misheard her. Afterwards came the chirpy voice of a blond at the front, praising the idea as if it would cure delinquency forever. Her mouth run itself before she could stop it.

"Are you crazy?" Kaida directed the insult towards him, before she scoffed, "It sounds like the police are just getting a bunch of students to do their job for them. Didn't know that was an option for community service." She leaned back and sighed. What a bunch of bullshit. Not long after her complaint and the other student's praising was the slick voice of Shirou Lancaster - or as Kaida nicknamed him; 'Pussy-Breath'. And of course, on par with his reputation and the stories that floated around about him, it was what he was after yet again. For once, she kept her mouth shut, but it wasn't easy for her to stop her eyes rolling at the flirt...or the...whatever it was meant to be.

Honda Kenzo

This wasn't his routine. He hated this.

Honda Kenzo was not a typical face in detention, and the wild blue hair so femininely braided only drew more attention from the students. In a room full of delinquents and other unfortunate souls, he only seemed like he belonged there in his looks. His blue hair hung around his face, and he was wearing his sports jersey over his uniform today, adding a certain look of delinquency to him. His always stoic face made him look even more scary, as if it was a clean slate of any sort of emotion. Not many students of Nageku High had even seen the jock break into a grin, let alone a full-on smile.

His eyes, though, were a different story. The news story had barely caught his attention since the beginning of detention as he had been almost glaring daggers into the back of one Shirou Lancaster. He wanted so bad to confront the boy, who had seemed genuinely nice, if not misunderstood, up to the point Kenzo had began talking to him. Before today, Kenzo thought they didn't have a problem, and that today he had just needed Kenzo to fetch him his bag from the roof. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case, and as he was making his way back to him, another boy had called him out, and then a teacher had gotten involved, and it just went downhill from there. The betrayal was unseen, which made it hit Kenzo a little harder than it usually would. At least with some of the other students that took advantage of him, it was usually just to cover up them smoking or them leaving the school grounds. Being framed for stealing took it too far.

So when Shirou made a pass at the detective at the police officer at the front of the room, Kenzo had to stop himself from being one of the other half of the room that rolled their eyes at him, along with a couple jeers and some snickers from others. He noticed the girl sitting next to him, Kaida, roll her eyes and tell off Alex, which seemed a little harsh in his opinion. He then took a moment to look around the room at the other attendees. He noticed Yuzuki banged up a little bit, though he wasn't too surprised, as he had heard what had happened from other students gossiping. It was bad enough to be in trouble, but she hadn't even won the fight. Minato and Hiru were chatting towards the back of the room, which was surprising since Hiru was almost never awake. The rest of the students he wasn't too wise on the names of, save for a couple, but they were being quiet for now after they showed the broadcast.

Kenzo's mouth twitched quickly, barely noticeable, and he reached up to his neck to feel the back of it. As he pulled his hand away, he saw beads of sweat on his fingertips, and groaned faintly as he pulled a hair tie off of his wrist. He gathered his hair into a ponytail, and as he went to tie it up, he heard a snap and watched as the hair tie launched across the room. He quickly put his hands down on his desk, trying to play off that it hadn't been him to hit another student with a stray broken hair tie. Unfortunately, that was his last hair tie, and he was now out until he got home or was able to stop by a convenience store.

He was about to give up hope when he looked to his side to Kaida once more. He paused for a moment, thoughts racing across his mind as he tried to think of the best way to approach her, his fingers drumming on the desk he sat at. He was sure, no matter what he said or did, he would only be met with some sort of rude or aggressive response, but he prayed that luck was on his side today, and he leaned over slightly, speaking in a hushed voice so only those directly around him could hear. "Hey, sorry, but would you happen to have a spare hair tie? My hair is bothering my neck and my last hair tie broke." He steeled himself for whatever followed.

Minato looked at him curiously when Haru began to draw directly after seeing her, not expecting this reaction. Than he saw her his drawing of her and she smiled at him. There it was those little hints on what had drawn her to him, the hint of what was beneath the sleepyhead. She often thought that if this was Haru with narcolepsy, how much more he could be if he was cured. He had often said to him he should try and try and get medical support. Maybe he could not be cured but they might improve his energy somewhat.

"oh you, that is beautiful. Thank you" She said before looking at the teacher. "Well she either hasn't noticed or is ignoring us for but I would not test our luck though." She whispered before looking around at their fellows." Kakkoi maybe but bear in mind they are here let's take it with a pitch of salt." She said not liking some of the faces she saw, particularly the Lancaster character who was quite infamous in the school. "Besides, just woke up and your eyes are wondering on other Kakkoi people? How should I take it?" She asked with mock offence looking back at him.

She turned back to the others seeing them start to react to the assignment which like her was mostly negative. She would complain as well but saw it will change nothing at best or make things worse at work. She just hoped she get through this as soon as possible. "I just hope these assignment dont take to much of the day. I have another scan in a couple of days." Just because she was cured it did not mean she was out of the would. Her tumor may return at any time and she needed regular scans to see if it had or not.

In the back of the classroom sat a boy with unnaturally dark red hair, ear buds were in his ears and the low tones of a guitar and dual kick drums could be heard if one got close enough to him. Most people avoided him though, a foreign American combined with his bellicose nature made him an outcast in the school. If you payed close attention you could see his left hand as well as his fingers moving to a rythm only he could hear, matching the movements of the guitarist, his right foot was tapping at a one second interval, a makeshift metronome if you would. People didn't understand that music was all about numbers and math, time had to be kept, the scales and and bridges had to coincide so the verses flowed smoothly. Vocals had to be at the right pitch as well as holding the notes that would blend with the instruments, be it a death growl or the most beautiful and tear jerking high note. The hand kept time with the invisible guitar, and Jordan Dreyer did what he always did, ignored his surroundings focused on what he believed was important.

He was here, because some of Rei's bitch boys decided they wanted to have a little fun at his expense, bad idea on their part not only was he probably one of the best fighters in the school, he was having a bad day, almost all of his days were bad at this point. He had heard talk about delinquents in Nageku, they seemed to think they were hard, They weren't. He wouldn've let it go what they said to him, if only to spare his poor father the experience of having his son being known as another one of the delinquents. If only they had just left it at his appearance or quietude except they had to throw in Gaijin. Jordan knew that it was literally the Japanese word for foreigner. But it was the tone they used, like they were somehow better than him. The fight had been surprisingly one sided even though he was outnumbered, the teacher had been powerless to stop them and Jordan guessed she hadn't expected that teenage boys were capable of such violence. He was told he was lucky that he wasn't being suspended. He looked up towards where the purple haired girl sat, his upper lip curled into a scowl for a split second before he looked back down towards the desk.

He pulled the ear buds out and put them back in his pocket. He caught the tail end of the whatever-she-was at the front of the classroom was saying. He heard some boot licker up front making noise like a lobotomized monkey praising the idea of community service. He wouldn't waste his breath on the singular brain cell the kid possessed like the other students in the detention room. He also didn't particularly give a rats ass about the missing kids, they could be dead for all he cared, not like there wasn't another 7 billion people on earth to replace them.

Hearing the sleazy kid speak, he couldn't take it anymore being trapped with these troglodytes. He turned to the kid who was talking like a man whore. He was British too, Jordan hated the way British people spoke like they were important. "Hey limey, do me a favor and shut your fucking mouth before I make it so you'll be eating your food through a straw." he said to the boy in English. He hated being confined to a small room with people that made him want to jump off the roof of the school.

He looked at the time on his smartphone, it was almost the time where him and other students and town residents would start band practice, he grabbed his things and stood up while moving towards the door, he would be dammed if he was going to miss the only part of his day that wasn't shitty because of some fight.

The 10th Muse
SOLEIL 足利
Soleil Ashikaga

"I don't belong here."
What a cliche thought to have. Like a line ripped straight from a movie.

Front row, center desk. In this seat, there sat a particular girl. Her mask was on today as it would be like any other: her uniform, well-kept and pristine, was accentuated by both a good posture and an even better figure. Her face, laced with a relaxed expression and tender smile, didn't change even in the abyss of detention. She made no effort to pretend she was innocent, but even so kept a quiet dignity. When the woman's words—sharp and demeaning, though they were only barely different in age—cut through them, she gave away no sign of anger. To Soleil Ashikaga, this was the reality of the situation. She understood that to be in this room meant you had earned it. There were consequences to anything, and none of her fellow students struck her as clever enough to dodge them. To think any of them would be able to escape the system was irresponsible in itself...so she took it in stride, not letting her image drop.

Because once the spotlight shone upon them, in either love or hate, there was no escaping it's grasp.

....Still. Soleil let out a sigh, almost wanting to furrow her brow and let the frustration show on her face. Her mask wouldn't allow that, and kept it practically invisible. But the irritation, the disapproval, and the discomfort of the environment never left her. This wasn't a room she could let herself relax in. This wasn't a room of people with just a few behavioral hiccups. These were delinquents; troublemakers; nothing but outcasts. Soleil had no place among them. It wasn't a matter of pride—it wasn't a matter of "superiority". It was just because Soleil, who always maintained her image, who always took care to please those around her...was stuck in a room with objectively some of the problematic people on their campus. Though, that wasn't entirely true: there was Namaya-kun in the back, with that rough friend of his. The stoic Kenzo-san, who was talking to that outspoken girl, Kaida-chan. These people weren't exactly bad, actually—and she wondered why they were there when there were those two. People that, really, she would rather never be in the same room with—much less ever associated with her! And as comments flew (and so did a hairband, it looked like?), it only furthered her feelings on the matter. A flirt with their ever-so-older teacher...an insult against the police....a student just plain trying to leave...

Well. It wasn't like she didn't think the police were totally incompetent for doing a half-assed search for 5 missing children in one of the "safest places in Japan", or that some people in the room were insufferable. But at least she had the decency to keep those thoughts to herself. There really was no filter in a detention class, was there?

"Ara, ara..." Soleil muttered as she stood up, looking over her shoulder. Someone had to at least give, even if only the slightest, picture of decency to the students. Her gaze scanned the class—almost as if she looked each one of them in the eyes. As if her words, broad and general, was meant for each student specially. "Let's just get through this without causing more trouble, alright...? Whether you like it or not, we have to do this." And as Soleil sat back down into her seat, she let a giggle escape her lips, a hand covering her mouth. "...But if you still somehow get in trouble, then that's your fault~." Yet despite it's wry meaning, it came off instead as coy, as playful...despite it jabbing at them, it sounded more like a tease than anything. And her giggle—it was a euphonious noise, meant to captivate their attention...

Soleil Ashikaga didn't belong here. But that was no reason for her to act any different than usual, and it was no reason to lower her mask. After all...once you were in the spotlight, there was no out of it. Even in the intense abyss that was detention, that was true. So she would maintain her image, and try to charm even these students.

I'm not a bad guy, I swear!

"Hey~ You know that I find you, like...200% Kakkoi!" Putting his hands in front of his mouth, Hiru let out a little laugh-- that felt more of a little chuckle than anything else. "Haaaah~ I guess...Let's just hope...We all get along~" Hiru truly didn't seem too worried about this situation. It wasn't that he didn't care, Minato would know too well, he was simply a guy that 'went with the flow.' Always with an uplifting personality, and rarely getting angry. Although...He could be rather shy or quiet at times.

It was simply another fact of his.

"Aaah~ I see...I hope everything goes fine...Sorry that I can't be of much help on that part, Minato-chaaaaaaan~" Well, he did provide emotional support. At the very least, support in the best way Hiru could. In situations of danger, tension, of sadness, he was always a person who acted first instead of talking. His personality...It was almost as if his emotions were dead, at times, truly. But they weren't-- he was simply a man with a tough time understanding people. Granted, his support could be seen as 'generic', but hugs, holding hands, or even generic advice helped at times-- right?

Hiru, somewhat overhearing the conversation between everyone, sulked a bit into his seat.

"Wow...These people are the...scary type... of kakkoi...Hey~ Is that Lansah guy...Doing what we occasionally do with one another to the...teacher?"

I think you mean 'flirting', Hiru. Still, he seemed surprised, if not confused at Shirou's actions.

"Let's just hope this isn't another route where a Lancer dies~"

Haz.

Mask? I wear no mask.
For each jeer, the detective marked a head, her stare a pendulum overhang. She never scoffed, never frowned, never stuttered - her lips were ironclad, eyes varnished in a one-way mirror sheen. Tick-tock, her pupils strut metrically, snapping between the faces which met hers with scorn.
And on the ones who didn't pucker or whine, who sat and smiled with wonted looks, she lingered. Knit her frons, pinched her gloves, then continued.
Alex Feron caught her gaze first. Second-offense destruction of school property. Exhibits symptoms of hypomania. Her mind spun clockwork.

"We were tipped off. Supposedly, they were spotted heading towards the rural district late in the afternoon. Although, none of the farmers saw them around the docks - I'd wager a guess, but I'll have to see for myself when we get there."
Open and shut. Next question.

A spiteful rag sounded across the room; she traced it back to Kaida Fuyoku.
Truancy. History of aggravated misconduct. Undergoing therapeutic oversight.
She sighed.
"The fact of the matter is, the officials won't tolerate a countrywide search for fear of it rousing public panic. This is a private investigation first and foremost - the police have been forced to step back entirely."

A sharp whistle and a leering glare.
"Shirou Lancaster. Public indecency on school grounds. You may not have a record for assault but I can assure you threats of biting, no less against an officer, won't go unpunished."
...
She had a touch-and-go understanding of flirting.

Then she heard a bark in some foreign language--English, she quickly discerned--and the ruffle of luggage. Jordan Dreyer, detained for excessive force used in self-defense and constant verbal misconduct, made an unimpeded beeline towards the door.
She stirred swiftly, and placed herself in front of him. Her stance, however diminutive, was decisive. She looked up at him with neither fear or concern, only a persistent poker face, and spoke without fault or hesitation: "You're not leaving on my watch."

[Div class=headfont]Erasmus | Detention Central[/div]

[div class=border][Div class=ssheet][div class=scrollr]

Disappointment tugged at him and so Erasmus frowned. He frowned, though he did not turn away from sky gazing to look at the reaction of their supervisor to Shirou's crass and quite unnecessary remark.

Living up to some of those rumors as usual it seems.

Though the American's harsh response wasn't going to help things. Turning this time to glance in Jordan and Shirou's directions Erasmus let the frown show at his disapproval before quickly looking away. A short glance, nothing more. Not that it really mattered nor did he really expect anything to come of it. Still though, the threat Jordan had just issued wasn't really going to make things any better, least of all for him.

And then there was a voice, her voice. Nonplussed, she stood as he slowly recognized the hair, hat-- It is you...

"Ara, ara..."

Why was she here? Then again the same could be said for a few others. She talked, he listened and as he listened...maybe it was her tone? No, her stance? The way she said it perhaps?

He couldn't be sure and wasn't about to make hasty guesses. That giggle, that smile-- like her they were catchers...but that wasn't what caught his attention. Being around a few of those sorts, the types that played gentle bunnies back in the UK just to find that they were venomous vipers, it gave some perspective.

Something felt off, not patronizing or antagonizing the way the Miss said it but he just...it felt off. Not that he could guess why. The Miss With The Hat had been kind to him, helped him find his way to class one time his first week at Nageku High when he was still getting used to things. She had seemed nice and as popularity went and as rumors tended to be there probably was plenty of evidence to back up those personality traits no doubt. It wasn't hard to look at her and just instinctively know that she was up there in this school's social class. It didn't take a genius to figure that out as even in their first meeting, as she had left he'd noticed the way others eyes would look and follow her. Probably as up there as Soliel herself, even if he had never gotten the Miss With The Hat's name in that one time meeting. Still though, he couldn't shake the feeling. The way she had gone about speaking just now, it screamed 'look and listen', like a performer in a play.

Perhaps it was just difference in culture? Or maybe she was trying to be a good role model? Though to each their own. He wasn't going to judge.

Speaking of judging-- he turned his attention to their supervisor as she answered one question and then...responded to Jordan. Oh shoot...

That did not bode well. He suddenly felt a bit warm, rather too warm if he were being honest. Watching their supervisor confront Jordan, even if he doubted anything would happen brought back memories. Then again, maybe everything would work out?

No don't be stupid. Sure she looked tough even with height disadvantage but still, he couldn't just sit there. What if things escalated and Jordan just got himself into more trouble by making another threat, making things even more of a mess for all of them or getting in even more trouble himself? So feeling nervously warm but waving it off as he rose from his seat, Erasmus moved towards the the duo at the exit, then paused his next step as he was about to pass a particular girl, freezing when his eye caught her just at the edge of his peripheral.

"Oh my..." He gasped in English when he looked at her. "Um..."

Eyes glancing over to the front where Jordan and the Supervisor were, Erasmus glanced back to Yuzuki. One second later he retraced his steps to his backpack. Opening it he pulled out his first aid kit, opened the rectangular box- pulled out a small vial of rubbing alcohol, sunk his hand in his backpack, pulled out a second icepack that was in a plastic bag of ice. Moving quickly he returned to Yuzuki, any nervousness gone in his steps. "Um... Miss?" he called in Japanese, voice gentle as he tapped her shoulder. "H-Here. For your uh, bruises." Without waiting, even if it was rude, he placed his last icepack on her table. Put the small alcohol vile down next, with a few cotton balls next to it. Then with a small sympathetic smile said: "I uh, I thought you might need it. Just in case-- what with your scratches a-and all. Um..." Respectfully nodding then looking back to Jordan and the Supervisor, Erasmus small smile became a small frown as he moved the hair that covered his left eye behind an ear. "...please, if you need anything else feel free to let me know. I always keep a medical kit with me." He continued at that quiet pitch.

Alas if she had wanted to say something in reply, Erasmus didn't wait. Like a bee he went straight to the source of his interest, passing other students and heading to the front.

In English: "Hey uh Jordan?" Steps pausing at least a foot away. "Um..." boy was it warm in here. Erasmus kept his eyes focused on the two and ignored the growing warmth that was making his pits start to sweat. "Please take it easy. I know you're not to happy about being here but uh, let's go sit back down? Okay? Please?" He added the last with a small, albeit nervous smile. Then glanced the supervisor's way, smile wilting just a little at her gaze before reviving.

Really hope she doesn't think I'm trying to protect her here and get offended or something...

"What do you think?" He looked back to Jordan, still in English. "I'm sure we'll be out of here soon enough. Let's head back to our seats please? I'd rather avoid either of us getting in more trouble so..."

"I'm the great mad scientist, Hououin Kyoma!"
Ginjiro Aizawa

Why was he still here? Just to suffer?

Maybe that was the case. He'd been caught on his attempt to skip detention and all but dragged to the class by that devil of a warden, there'd been little he could do by that point, so he'd reluctantly attended detention, knowing that any attempts to just pass by and head home would become entirely too much effort for him. Now, he's claimed one of the back seats as his own, as close to one of the corners as possible, seemingly doing his best to focus entirely on his phone and not at the surrounding people whose reasoning for being here will hopefully forever be a mystery to him.

Alas, the situation in the class around him seems to be constantly devolving, and he finds himself caving to his own growing curiosity, lifting his head and very quickly wishing he hadn't bothered. Honestly, where do you begin? Some weird blonde who seemed downright giddy at the prospect of being roped into this investigation, -he couldn't deny his own interest, but at least he kept that to himself- some dumbass trying to flirt with the warden, and finally someone who'd apparently worked up the courage he didn't have and decided that detention just....wasn't for him. It'd resulted in something of a stand-off, the comparatively smaller warden seemingly confident in her ability to keep him in the class.

Ginjiro found himself staring, a morbid curiosity glueing his eyes to the scene, if nothing else, it would seem he's found a welcome distraction in this chaotic mess of a detention.

Aoi wasn't listening. She just sat at her seat, the front row over by the windowed end of the classroom. A first offense for detention got caught wrecking a few canvases that she painted due to dissatisfaction. She said she'd pay for it all, what's a few canvases anyway? Easily bought and replaced. Never the less, as much as she didn't want to, she is in detention. Straight posture, and elbows at her side as she seemed to be playing the piano despite tapping on the desk as she listened to the music being played at her left ear. It was Chopin.

The people, a few of them kept spouting in loud voices. She wasn't even listening to what the woman up at the front has been saying and is just minding her own business because she doesn't care not one bit about what is happening. Honestly, she just wants everybody to shut up because they're all so noisy. It's like being in a zoo, you have your monkey in heat, a sleeping koala at the back, and a quacking goose to specify a few.

Whatever they all said didn't really reach her ears except for one which caused her to laugh silently by her seat at the red head's speech about Shirou in English. As she was about to go back to listening to her music, the girl at the front center row got up and made a show of being a good student. Aoi decided that she dislikes her, she knows that one. A gorgeous actress of a few films, she was great but the way she spoke right now? Felt empty? Odd? Off? She can't pinpoint it but she dislikes it a lot.

Her eyes then caught their warden stopping one of the few english speaking students in the classroom, 'He shouldn't have come here in the first place.' She thought to herself with a plain expression on her face as the one with heterochromania proceeded to ask Jordan back to his seat. It looked like a mouse is talking to a lion.

Anyway, they should get this over with. "Why don't we just get to it?" She said to their blonde caretaker in the most uninterested way.

Of course, it wasn’t enough just be one person trying to make things worse for all of them. At least the Detective seemed to have everything under control, despite one guy just getting up to leave. Yuzuki massaged her scarred hand. Didn’t they realise that they should just accept their punishment? It would all be over a lot sooner that way. They should just get this over with so that they could go their separate ways and never speak to each other again. Even that much sounded too good to be true. Half of the people here were getting in fights with each other just as a matter of being in the same building. The only one who seemed to understand the basic principle of sin and punishment was Ashikaga-senpai. Someone far too elegant compared to everyone else here, every movement one that exuded someone used to be treated with soft respect. Completely different from the rest of the violent thugs who commanded respect with fear.

Although…, did she really need to stand up and make such a big deal of it? Talking down to them, acting like she had a big speech planned only to say a couple of lines before sitting back down and laughing at them. There was something odd about her expressions that Yuzuki couldn’t place, and she pushed the feeling down and away with the bristling frustration.

At the touch on her shoulder, no matter how light, she jumped. She forced herself still and her face flat to keep from shoving it away and snapping at the person attached to it. Instead, all she could do was watch him for the slightest change in movements as he put his first-aid supplies on her desk. He looked like he’d got some use out of it too. And then he just walked off to deal with the guy at the door. Yuzuki looked between his back and the ice-pack. Why was he carrying this stuff around? Why was he just giving, no, lending it to her? Why was he getting so involved with what was going on between the Detective and that other guy? A detective could probably handle herself just fine, no matter how many centimetres some thug had on her. But he was right that they needed to just go along with this search for now. There was nothing any of them could do to get out of this punishment.

Yuzuki looked back at the medical supplies on her desk. She hadn’t thought that she’d been cut at all during the fight, but she also hadn’t seen a mirror since it happened. After another second, she went for her bag and pulled out a little compact-mirror, and gingerly dabbed the stinging liquid to what scrapes she could find before she pressed the ice to the swellings, wincing at the tenderness. She’d have to make sure to thank that boy latter when she returned this stuff.

With each question or statement Detective-san answered, they were quick, straight to the point, no bullshit involved. She stated the facts of the matters, and moved on. When the detective got to Kaida's statement, it was no different. She lips twisted for a moment as she felt a multitude of words gather on her tongue, ready for them to spring forth. What was the point of keeping the investigation private? Kayatomi was a quiet place, the kind of place that even if the most mundane crime occurred - and that was a rarity, given the low crime rates around here - it would be on everyone's lips. Sooner or later that panic would set in. Might as well rip the bandaid off now and get it over with. As for Detective Lady's explanation of the police having no involvement in it, the girl had little comebacks for that, other than the fact a bunch of kids were still doing someone else's job for them.

Kaida leaned forward, about to let those thoughts stream out, though, found the Detective had moved on to address Shirou instead. With a begrudining look, she sat back in her seat again, rubbing at her nose. She had sat alone with her thoughts - those pent up, aggressive thoughts that often helped to light her fuse - until she felt a sudden rush of air brush past her. She looked up, her eyes settling on a male, posessions in hand, and making a trail straight to the door. Bold, she thought, for Jordan to snap and attempt to make his escape. She couldn't help but describe him that way, thinking she had heard a snap come somewhere from behind her. She chose not to focus on it, for the situation at hand proved much more interesting - especially, with the lady throwing herself into the ring.

Kaida got comfortable watching the confrontation between the two occur, until she heard a hushed tone reach her. Keeping her body directed towards the confrontation unfolding at the door, she let her eyes veer to the side, finding Kenzo leaning over in her direction slightly. For a moment, she narrowed his eyes at him, before she looked behind her, as if she was mistaken and he was addressing someone else. He wasn't. Out of all the people he could have asked. Though, she would secretly admit, she enjoyed the way he asked her, and how his request sounded so cautious. The kind of reaction she wanted people to have around her. Wordlessly, though, with the added look of disdain as if this was some sort of major inconvience to her, she pulled her jacket sleeve down, revealing a few hair ties on her arm. She hated to admit, but she understood the trouble with hair ties. She made it a rule to keep one in her hair, two or three on her arm. Kaida wouldn't sympathise with him openly on that, however. She wriggled it off into hand, and held it out to Kenzo.

Keep your distance.

As Kenzo would take the hair tie, she thought of those words, and then in response, she couldn't help reflecting on the irony - or at least, what she saw it as - of the situation to him.

"Isn't it nice to see how 'Kayatomi's Helping Hand''s influence spreads to others?" Kaida sneered, before she sat back in her seat. Harsh? Absolutely. It was what kept people away.

Minato found Hiru's chuckle infectious and chuckled as well. "Oh how can I believe that after i had to mention that you did not compliment me." She said jokingly back at him before listening to Hiru's assessment and hopes for the group. "Well, hopes springs eternal." She said speaking under her breath as she noticed the two foreign blooded students started to steer up trouble. He raised an eyebrow when the two were successful contained by the warden. "Well I doubt that we will make friends with them to but i suppose they cant be too much trouble." She whispered aside to Hiru.

Her attention turned to the rest of their fellows, they seemed to have some potential. She found herself drawn to the girls of the group. One of them had a rather unique blue streak on her hair, it looked good on her. Than there was a dark haired girl who seemed like she had got into a fight and seemed to be treating herself there and than. Strange things to leave until now. Than there was the girl in the red jacket, something about her was particularly striking, she could not place. It could be she seemed more comfortable and in control than the others and an aura of strength came form her. Though abit crude, she was i but it was quite attractive...

The moment the word attractive came in her mind, she shock the though from her mind. She wasnt like that, she shouldnt be thinking like that. She had a boyfriend, and she was happy with him. Hiru had his fault but he was good for her and dependable that is what she needed. She tried to turn back and hiru and smiled at him but found herself doing so half hearted.

Hiru was seemingly a bit more attentive to the class now. Or, well, what was going on with it. Many people were already stirring up some trouble, which, clearly, made his smile falter. Hiru did...Not understand emotions. At all. He didn't understand why people got angry. He didn't understand why people got sad. He didn't know why people were happy, even. He knows it's due to some emotions they pass through or experience, but...He never felt many strong emotions before. Aside from 'happiness.' He always tried to be happy, to make other smiles, or to even look like a childish fool to make so that happened.

He wasn't sure why, but negativity just didn't sit well with him.

The sound of a chair being set aside was heard, as Hiru got up.

"A-anoo...I agree... with Eras-kuuuuuuuun-- maybe we...shouldn't stir up more trouble...It'd just...Make things worse...Um... I'm sorry..."

Placing his hands together, he looked at Minato, then back in front of the class.

"O-otherwise...O-our punishments...Might be longer...So why don't we...Get along...Oya?"

...His ahoge, coming out of his hoodie, twitched for a moment. Almost in a hopeful manner. He knew that Minato had an appointment-- better not make this one-day detention be longer. Besides, others were also busy, right? They shouldn't suffer because of one guy that's stressed...He maybe has his troubles too, so he likely doesn't have time to think of how he affects others...Hiru kept holding his hands together, his face somewhat hidden under his hoodie.

Rei Kimiko
"Come on, come on, pick up, you idiot...!"
Her gaze transfixed on the lip of her smartphone, a lilac-haired girl murmured mild obscenities between a flat dial tone. "This number is unavailable, please leave a message", the monotone message rehearsed, incessantly unflinching, innumerably repeating. On the some-dozenth hum, her anger met its boiling point - a cold pang shot up her arm as she found her elbow nestled several inches into the concrete wall. She shrilled a cuss and bit her tongue, but though her skin began to flush, she paid it little mind. Below that soporific beep, she masked a stifled sob - against her sleeves she pressed and wiped her swollen eyes, and felt only shame and cowardice all the while. Her thoughts chattered tedium as endless as the phonespeak.
I'm not crying. Why would I be? He wandered off. He got lost. Survival of the fittest. It's his fault. It's his fault. It's his fault.
But where the latter had purpose, the former was pointless. She was drowning out the noise with noise of her own. After all, denial was the easy part. It's what came after that hurt like a bitch.

When she raised her head again, her skin was pale, eyes dull, mien impassive. No sign of weakness. Nothing for the leeches to latch onto and mock. And while for some, that mask brought comfort, for Rei it was the lack of it that brought security; Get too cozy and they'll just sweep the rug out from right under you. Better to be feared, even if you have to live in fear.
A motto she lived by. What got her through the day, anyway.

She pocketed her phone and scanned the room. Few faces stuck out to her among the crowd. None she liked much. Lancaster was being a manwhore as always, and still not a good one at that. Dreyer was up to his usual debauchery, having moved onto showing up cops; she still had to pay him back for breaking Tae's ribs. Fuyoku was doing her usual "hot shit" impression, rubbing it into the ass-kisser she'd heard rumors about, and in response Rei could only snicker. One of the few people she could even tolerate, really.
Then, her eyes turned sideways - Kuwahara couldn't have looked worse for wear, and her skittishness didn't show much fight in it. While most people would cower from Dreyer, or shy away from hitting up Ashikaga, the emotion that Kuwahara instilled in her was different. Worse. Her aura was grotesque, malforming pity into horror and horror into pity, an empathetic feedback loop like watching a dog limping on broken legs. It was like being stabbed with a screwdriver, and even that, Rei could confirm, hurt a fucking lot less.

Black matte finish with tinted windows. However cozy, the van was unquestionably shifty. The back was dimly-lit, and while spacious in its own respect, undersized for even a fraction of the whole student body - laps were, predictably, encroached upon. The windows brought the full length of the parking zone into view, where the street was visibly - and suspiciously - desolate.
'The Warden' sat comfortably in the driver's seat, her jacket and beret folded over the full length of the passenger side. Without hesitation or the slightest discernible hint of inexperience, she reversed onto the empty road where the vehicle found its motion.

Buildings passed by in droves - the car navigated the labyrinthine paths with ease, however strange or convoluted they became, however many landmarks it came across. Traversing the full length of Kayatomi began to reveal just how bizarre the pathways truly were, as though they were built to actively stall the denizens, distracting them with all manner of hot-spots and shops to impede their travel. In the distance, the mountain loomed high above the buildings, serving as the only reliable indicator of their progress, apart from the GPS which mounted the dashboard.

4:07 PM
A momentary siren wail. The van swerved onto the sidewalk, which stretched on for miles beside the field clearing without a person in sight, and a police car slowed to a crawl adjacent to it. The Warden rolled down the window.

The officer spoke, voice slurred and riddled with half-conscious delirium, yet his eyes strung painfully wide and bloodshot and lips contorted into an unsettling smile;
"Goo~ood morning~..."

"It's four in the afternoon," she retorted with inscrutable nonchalance, unfazed by the sight, though the rancid scent of sweat and blood was much harder to waft away.

"Is it? I must've lost track~."

Her gaze darted to the uncombed clumps of greasy hair that stuck to his scalp, and the bludgeon-swelling around his fingertips. She narrowed her eyes.
"Do you have a reason for pulling us over?"

"'us'? There's more of youuu~? I'd love to meet them~..."

"Quite. If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to get going now."

"Why not stay a while longer~?"

Her glare stiffened. She rolled up the window. The officer lingered for several seconds longer, staring unresponsively into the sun-lit black of the glass, before eventually relenting and returning to his vehicle. With another flick of the siren, the cruiser turned and went on its way.
The Warden slipped between the seats, crouching before the group. She pulled back her frilled sleeves and brought a walkie-talkie to her collar.

"Themis to Kirijo Area Command. We've got another 'Euphoria' case. 33-year-old male, dispatch from Kayatomi Police Department. Exhibits mania, dyschronometria, delayed reaction time, visible hair loss and internal bleeding around the fingertips. Evaluate for potential drug use. Over."
