NAME
Mordin Astor

AGE
54

HEIGHT
5' 10"

SKILLS
Broadsword combat, hand to hand combat, wilderness skills

PHYSQUE
Though age is beginning to take its toll on the veteran soldier, Mordin is, nonetheless, still a formidable warrior. His body is lean and tough, with old scars from battles in his youth. His hands though rough and calloused, are dexterous and can be surprisingly gentle. The feature most people note him for are his eyes, piercing and slate grey like the northern sky.

Though he has spent many years in the relatively comfortable position of a captain of the guard, he trains compulsively, knowing that he could easily grow soft in the confines of the castle.

BACKSTORY
Mordin was born on a small farmstead in the north of Bremmerlund, where men worked the hard earth to scrape a living out of the land or worked their fingers raw in the dark of the King's iron mines. His father was a sharecropper on the land of the local Baron. At the age of fifteen Mordin and his father were conscripted into the army in a squabbling conflict with a neighboring Barony. When his father died in combat, Mordin knew that he could not spend the rest of his life scrabbling in the dirt, so he enlisted in the Baron's standing army. The army life was hard, but Mordin was adept on the battlefield, and it was a far sight better than an unceremonious slow death in the mines.

When Mordin was 21, he found himself in the Baron's personal regiment. When the Baron's horse was shot out from beneath him with an arrow, leaving the noble incapacitated, Mordin stood over the spot and fended off the enemy until the second regiment could make their way over the battlefield to encircle the Baron and get him out of danger. For his efforts, Mordin was honored with decorations of bravery and placed in the Baron's castle guard.

Mordin quickly rose through the ranks, until he was serving as a bodyguard to the Baron's family.

During this time, he often served as the personal guard for Elsa, the Baron's eldest daughter. When Elsa was married to the newly crowned King Alvar Wurnol, Mordin was sent with her to join the royal guard. Mordin always harbored a secret love for Elsa, and she often confided in him, though their connection never extended beyond the secret longing they never shared with the other.

Elsa's first son, Ethred, took after his father, he was not always allowed to spend time with his mother and he became just as cruel, abusive, and cunning as the wicked King. It was a great source of pain for Elsa, and for Mordin on her behalf that her son was pulled away from her.

When the Queen conceived a second child, she hoped and prayed for a girl, knowing the King would have little interest in a girl child. The Queen gave birth to a girl, but she only lived long enough to give the child a name. Mordin was devastated, but relived at least, that the child would be left to a wetnurse and tutors and largely be outside of the King's malign influence. Mordin swore an oath to protect the girl no matter the cost and to do what he could to see that she grew up into a mirror of her kind and beneficent mother.

NAME
Princess Kennadell Alaura Wurnol
(Kenna for short)

AGE
18

HEIGHT
5' 3"

SKILLS
sewing, medical knowledge (from being around all sorts of doctors growing up), dancing, singing, social interactions, knows a fair bit about using a dagger

PHYSQUE
Kenna is everything you might expect a princess to be. She is a strikingly lovely young woman with soft angelic features which she is well known for and are said only to be rivaled by the beauty of her heart. She is known to have a gentle touch and carries herself in a way that makes her appear as free and graceful as a swan but still as regal as her title suggests. Her hazel eyes are very expressive and tend to tell anyone who knows how to read her every detail of what she is thinking. One thing that those who know her are often surprised by is the fact that her hands are always cold, as warm as she is as a person her touch almost always feels like ice. This is due to her heart which has been unusually weak since birth and often led to Kenna coming across as ill or weak when she was a child. She has been told that she looks very much like her mother.

BACKSTORY
If there was one thing Kenna has known her entire life it is that even though her mother passed mere moments after her birth, Queen Elsa loved her with all her heart. Aside from that love is not something her family has ever expressed well. Love wasn't something her father knew how to do well but even still he was better at it than her brother. Most of the time though Kenna existed as a pleasing little doll around the court of her father. Something pretty to look at, something he could show off when he felt the need, but never to be heard from unless it was to please guests with her beautiful songs. She did not get the same luxuries and freedoms as her brother but she never complained because with her father's gaze turned elsewhere she had her own little freedoms when she wasn't bedridden from her weak heart of course.

Kenna could explore the castle and the grounds around it, she could see the world within the walls of their home better than her brother or father ever could. She made it her goal to get to know each person within those walls in some way or another; often befriending the servants and guards. She was well known for having her mother's kindness and good heart, making gifts for those who served in and around the palace whenever she could get away with it.

Of course, she never had to fear because she always had Mordin at her side. No one would dare hurt the young princess when she had her mother's former personal guard there to pick her up when she fell, carry her when she was weak, and protect her from any who wished to hurt her. In Kenna's eyes, Mordin was more of a parent to her than her father ever was, though he always remained respectful towards her title. Now that she is a grown woman she still looks to him for guidance but also does what she can to look after him when she views he needs it.
