The Beginning

Talvaxious

Pack : Mountain

Talvaxious was confident that the effects of his power would linger with Ayka long enough to get her moving and was also pleased that one of the Mist pack wolves had decided to comfort her as best they knew how. It was far more than the hardened Elder would have been able to offer the she-wolf Time had taken a brutal toll on him after all and he found it difficult to relate to those that were so subject to emotions. It had hurt his heart to see the loss of Ryka, but even now, that pain had been reduced to a dull thud at the back of his mind as he nodded in agreement to Tael's directives and soon he found himself leading the merged pack of wolves. He maintained his position  until he sensed Fuzen's presence then allowed himself to drop a few paces behind the Mist Beta in a display of silent respect to the Beta's position that  only Talvaxious himself would likely notice. He did manage to take notice of Fuzen as he beckoned to Clara for her to join him. If the Elder had any sort of reaction to it, no other wolf would notice. Perhaps it was time for their history's to merge once again just as it had been before the sickness all those moons ago.

Although Talvaxious had been sent to  the front of the group, he saw no reason to maintain that constant position and would often drop back on the outskirts of the group to ensure that no wolves were  falling too far behind then soon return to his position off to the side of Fuzen. He followed the Beta's glance skyward, unsure at exactly how long they had been on the move. They would have to call a halt at some point to give the wolves a chance to rest. Their wounded still had to be tended too, Physical and emotional pain would have to be addressed and a slight shutter washed over the Elder as he dreaded  the moment when the urgency that was keeping them all moving would finally be allowed to disperse.

As he moved back and forth through out the masses, he allowed his mind to wander slightly, sparing moments to glance at their surroundings but it would not take long for him to become frustrated with his loss of memory of the No Man's Lands.

He had roamed these Lands for the beloved Luna knew how long, but it all was a blur to him. Those clouded memories only becoming clear for brief moments when he would remember the taste of blood on his tongue, or his haunting howls echoing through the Lands.

After walking with the small group, Recruit found it difficult to stay still. He was walking at the same speed as the pack that enveloped him, and yet he still felt hyper and full of energy .

He quickly thought up a solution that could benefit the pack and give him an outlet for energy. Plus, he could get away from the crowd of wolves while he calmed himself down.

This was an excellent idea!

Recruit lifted his head from the ground, returning to his original posture. he looked rapidly around him with no particular order , looking more paranoid than anything else. He turned multiple times to the side while stopping to look for an opening between the other wolves. He would sometimes forget to walk, which caused him to stop in the first place. He would than snap out of it -after a short moment- and make a mad dash to return to the middle of the pack, as to avoid a collision with the other wolves behind him.

Recruit soon found it difficult to find an exit. Although he had been looking around for one, he had yet to find it due to him checking a few spots multiple times for the duration, completing what would be a few seconds of searching in a matter of minutes. He grew frustrated and tired. He then gave up.

He looked to the front to see who was leading, lifting his head up to see over the others. He saw a very intimidating wolf at the lead of the pack. He did not seem nice.

To make the situation worse, This was the one who didnt seem all that happy for Recruit's arrival in the first place.

He hesitated, not wanting to disturb this intimidating leader. But he would have to do SOMETHING! He could not take the boredom of this slow march.

"Excuse me?" He began , scrambling for words to get the attention of the lead wolf." You, In the front! The one with yellow...uhh ...things! I'm going to go up ahead -Whats the word?- " He paused, thinking of a word that would classify that movement.

"Oh! Yeah -Scouting. I'll scout ahead- If that is alright with you."

Talvaxious glanced over at the odd younger wolf  that was near the center of the group  once more, trying yet again to recall who it actually was then it finally dawned on him. Recruit. the awkwardness of the young wolf finally giving away his name. The wolf seemed confused and lost enough as it were amidst the wolves and Talvaxious did not wish to allow him to wander from the group alone  less he become even more lost, or worse, attacked by the hostilities of No man Lands.

He eased over to the younger wolf just as Recruit called to Fuzen who would no doubt care a less for the wolf's safety, even less so with all the brooding that was currently emanating from the Mist Beta.

The Elder matched Recruit's pace for a moment, he too sharing a desire to get away from the group for a while. The two wolves were not so different after all really.  Recruit was some what of an outcast just as Talvaxious was. The main difference being that the Elder was an outcast more by choice then his younger counterpart who was just awkward by nature. Whatever indifference there might be between the two, Talvaxious knew that at the moment the Mountain Pack needed all the wolves they could muster and Recruit was of the Mountain Pack regardless of his current social status. As long as the elder had known of him there had been little report of his actual powers, but that did not necessarily mean they were not present. May hap they were just dormant at the moment. Though it was a rare thing for a wolf in their young adult years not to manifest powers, it was not unheard of. Some manifested naturally, while other forms of power were triggered by a specific time, or event; Severe trauma or emotional circumstances. It would seem that it was not yet time for Recruit to tap his powers. Either that, or the young wolf was more clever and quick witted then he let on to be.

Talvaxious leveled his gaze on Recruit.

"Fuzen..His name is Fuzen. And  although I have  no doubts that he could care a less what you do right now Recruit, It would not be responsible of me as the Mountain Pack Elder to allow you to wander off on your own, especially here in No Man Lands." He continued after a pause and a sigh.

"However, if you feel the need to move ahead a ways I shall accompany you but we must return after a while. We shall function as actual scouts and do a quick sweep of the entire area surrounding the group and then return once again to move in unison." It was more of an order from the Elder than a choice for Recruit, but Talvaxious wondered at the effects of giving the young wolf an actual task and some hands on experience with said task. His voice was gruff when he spoke again, a stern look in his eyes "I trust this is a suitable arrangement for you Recruit is it not?"

The beta carried on at a rather calm pace,  he did not want to go to quickly for any injured wolves.  He was already in a foul mood,  yet to hear a wolf he barely knew call him out in a rather impolite manner,  made his fur bristle.  "You, In the front! The one with yellow...uhh ...things!" came Recruit's voice through the murmurs of the merged packs. Fuzen stopped walking, edging the group to a halt. He then turns his piercing golden gaze towards the In-Training wolf.

A growl rips through his throat,  "I'm Fuzen. "  The beta snaps,  his fangs exposed for only a moment. The beta wanted to call this wolf a pup, to bring to light how much Fuzen outranked him, yet he held his tongue. At this point the other wolves grew very silent, as he was the only beta living.

Fuzen looked towards Talvaxious, causing him to sigh softly.  "Fine.  You two may scout ahead,  this gives our Medicine Wolves time to check on the injured."  Soft sighs were exhaled as the old and injuried quickly laid down. Fuzen meets Recruit's gaze,  and he approaches the young wolf.  The beta was tall, his muscles were visable despite his thick, white and golden fur.

"You will do just at Talvaxious says,  if he comes to me with a report on you disobeying,  there will be pain."  Fuzen's eyes held deadly promise,  he would not let that type of disrespect go. His gaze turns back to the elder,  "Please be safe."  The beta dips his head with respect toward Talvaxious,  before walking past the pair.

He approached Clara slowly,  sighing softly.  "What kind of wolf is that?  Does he not know what a beta is?"  He growls softly with annoyance,  sitting beside the she-wolf.

Fuzen was exhausted,  not to mention in pain and hungry.  Overall he was not happy,  his home was destroyed,  he witnessed a tragedy, he was running off of fumes.

Clara looked ahead, noticing Fuzen using his tail to beckon her over to him. Was it that he didnt want her in the back? Or was it that he wanted to speak with her? Either way, she was about to go but the young wolf caught her attention "I'm sorry but I do not know any wolves of those names..." she said "You have no reason to be sorry." once he hurried off towards the middle to the front of the pack, she moved up, walking up next to Fuzen's side, looking around but not activating her power yet. They would have to be still for her to do so. Walking next to Fuzen, she heard the young pup once again, causing her to look over and see him going on about a Scouting with Trava. Of course, Fuzen didnt seem very fond of the lone wolf. He stopped and so did she, watching the scene unfold. As Fuzen said they could go on and scout while the medicine wolves check up on everyone, all the wolves who were injured or old, sat down or layed down. The huntress moved away from the group some, sat down and kept her ears up, turning them every so often to hear anything out of the ordinary.

Fuzen gained her attention as he walked over "He's a ordinary wolf. Nothing like us." she informed him, watching as he took a seat. He looked very grumpy and didnt look like he wanted to be bothered. Clara stood up and moved closer to him, gently licking the wound on top of his muzzle. Hopefully he'd feel better afterwards. And maybe she can run off to see if she could find food for some of the wolves. The evening was very eventful...and she was sure that the wolves were hungry, let alone tired. When she had finished cleaning the marks on his muzzle, she sat back down next to him and then dropped down to lay on the ground  with her tummy.

That escalated quickly...

Just as Recruit finished his sentence, another wolf -seemingly elder- approached him.

Fuzen...his name is Fuzen." The elder wolf informed Recruit,

"Fuzen you say?" He replied, glancing to the elder wolf beside him as he spoke.

To be honest, did not pay attention to the elder's other words. His attention was caught by his Demand.

The elder wolf wanted to tag along for the scouting mission. This was disappointing. Recruit wanted to go Alone. He didn't even want to scout in the first place, he only wanted to get away from the group to clear his mind. He was using the 'Scout' mission to mask it.

But, maybe it isn't such a great Idea to go alone Recruit thought, pondering over the reasons for this order.

He gave the elder a puzzled look, just before-

A growl rips through his throat,  "I'm Fuzen. "  The beta snaps,  his fangs exposed for only a moment. The beta wanted to call this wolf a pup, to bring to light how much Fuzen outranked him, yet he held his tongue. At this point the other wolves grew very silent, as he was the only beta living.

The growl sent shivers down his spine. He stared at the angered beta with a terrified look. His head was craned back slightly and his ears stood on point. He froze, as it seemed like the stare it'self had caused him to lose all sense in moving. Then, once the cold stare of the wolf had been redirected to some one else, he lowered his head down sightly lower than his original position. He was still afraid of this intimidating beta, but at-least the beta wasn't actually ripping him in half at this point. Fuzen had been discussing something with the Elder, to which Recruit could only nod slightly in a shocked agreement. Recruit seemed in a rush to get away from the group, or the Beta who led it.

"Okay...lets go..." He whispered over to the Elder, glancing to the Elder and back to the Beta.

"He's a ordinary wolf. Nothing like us."

The wolf that he had met earlier walked over. She had told something to the beta, of which Recruit overheard. He didn't really react visibly. He had heard many things like this before, mostly aimed at him. It was true ; he did not have powers as of now. But he had hope that he might get them later. But, everything seemed to be crashing down around him...

After a moment, He realized that he had been staring through them with an empty gaze. He had been in deep thought, which left him life-less for a moment. He snapped back into reality with a twitch and a couple of blinks.

He looked to the Elder, speaking with a serious yet soft tone.

"Ready...sir?" He pondered the name of the Elder. He might as well call him 'Sir' from now on until he could learn his name.

"Lead the way."

He remained at the heel of the group, acting as the initial defense if the humans and their mutts were to attempt another attack. As he trudged on, moving at a rather agonizingly slow pace, one that made his paws itch with the urgency of the situation, drew him to asses the problems at hand. Although he hid it well - at least, he hoped that he did - he felt the worry creep up along his back, a sickening warmth that melted the ice that hung on snowy fur. From the back of the group he could assess the damage and count. Even with two packs, they were low on authority and protection. They could use more warriors, could use more medics, and could certainly use more hunters. Of course, the bigger problem was the way the air tasted, a sickening mixture of burnt flesh, smoke, and angst. However, it was to be expected, the animosity was common between packs and he should have been glad that the wolves were remaining responsive to their current condition, but with Charon missing... he sighed, praying to Luna that the opposing Alpha would present himself. A pack without an alpha meant trouble, and animosity would not be the correct word to describe the downfall that would occur.

They didn't even have a predecessor, let alone a beta. At the very thought of his hotheaded second-in-command, his eyes roamed to the yellow poke of fur that managed to raise above the multi-colored group of wolves. The group had stopped, gradually, and at the voice of  Fuzen, had ceased completely. Sick and injured, old and young settled into the earth in a show of fatigue and relief. A break? He tilted his head to the side, pupil-less eyes of white looking to the ground in a display of thought.

We've made a distance of about five miles... that's not enough. He pushed forward, many of the wolves shifting in their spot on the forest floor to allow him easy passage. Yet when he reached the front of the group, spotting Fuzen and Clara licking each others wounds, did his gaze rest on the normal wolf and the Mountain elder. They were moving ahead, separating, and he glanced at Fuzen with a gaze that demanded reason. The elder was the epitome of wisdom and deserved respect, but... a wolf that spoke unnaturally and acted differently... a wolf that held nothing but the mortality of canines, no gifts from Luna, could surely not be the only wolf to go with Talvaxious.  "Etu," he spoke the name like a command as his head lifted, turning to where he had last seen the fellow wolf of white, "take another wolf with you and join Talvaxious. Heed his orders as pack affiliations do not matter at this time. Right now, we are one, and an elder shall be respected and heard." He eyed the wolf, giving him a hint toward his clear dislike to his brother and to the wolves that held unease. He gestured his head to the direction that the two began before returning his steady gaze to his second-in-command.

The electric wolf reminded him of a grumpy pup... it was unnatural. Fuzen was hotheaded, held a rather testy temper, but he was never so... outward with his anger. At least, not in situations that required a level head. Not in situation like this. Of course, it could be Tael. Their predicament made his thoughts run a mile a minute. Overthinking and over-reading was an easy flaw to stumble upon. "Are you well?" He asked the pair in general, but his gaze remained on Fuzen as he couldn't help but stare at the markings on his muzzle. "We've time for a medic..." he trailed, chuffing at the mere mention of it. Fuzen would deny the aid or assure that he was well and end the concern there. Tael shook his head, icicles clinking together at the movement, "Pardon me, I know you better than that."

Eyes glanced to Clara in a sign of curiosity, but he kept the obvious question at bay. They were close in a way that suggested familiarity, unlike the rest of the wolves who stayed clear of made it obvious of their discomfort toward an outsider of each pack. Not that it was a crime or a sin, it was simply different, surprising. Then again, you do tend to overthink, over analyze... it's quite possible that... he pawed at the earth, "I pray that Charon returns. I fear for this group's stability." Yet it's going well so far, "I will asses the damages in our current ranks. Remain at rest."

Warmth flooded Fuzen as Clara began to lick his wounds,  typically any wolf would have a natural distaste for their rival pack,  yet Clara was beautifully different.  Once she laid on her belly,  Fuzen lowered his muzzle and began to luck ash from her white fur. While the burnt taste made his lips quiver in a snarl,  he continued to clean the ash from the fur behind her ears.

He lifted his gaze towards Tael,  who seemed rather displeased with his beta. "We will live."  He replied gently,  his ears twitching in submission.  The beta chuckles softly when Tael corrects himself,  yet it only lasts just for shorter than a moment.

When Tael says he will asses the ranks left,  Fuzen's gaze drops to his paws.  "Alpha."  He begins formally, "Let me join you."  This was merely an excuse to get private with Tael,  Fuzen must not hide secrets from his Alpha,  it was not only immoral but against pack code.

So Close...

Recruit looked to the Alpha with a confused look. "Hm? Why? " He questioned, turning to the Alpha.

He was a bit concerned. "Why do they- we need more members?"

This sparked a bit of paranoia within him. Was there something out there?

"ooonnn second thought...maybe it is a good Idea." He was already unsure about the mission.

The thought of something out there...out here  With them...

It was generally scary, especially for the powerless and weak Recruit.

The selection however, didn't please Recruit. They seemed just as intimidating and dangerous as the angered Beta.

He knew he had no choice for the selection as the Alpha and the other wolf would choose the members.

At this point, his little scout mission is turning into a mass forward recon. He began to feel remorse for his decision.

Why did I have to suggest this? This is the worst plan I had ever made.

Recruitwas not surprised with his own failure. He knew he was not smart enough to actually pull off a plan to get secluded from the pack. His confused look saddened as he realized his mistake.

Then again, he wasn't the brightest.

Tael glance briefly at the young wolf, Recruit - was it? - and shook his head at the reply. Even from his stance in front of his Beta, he could smell the confusion and fear rolling off the canine in waves. Yes, Talvaxious would definitely need backup as a just in case as No Man's Land was deemed as such for a reason. In addition, with a wolf  that reeked of negative emotion, it was bound to draw unwanted attention. "I did not mean to frighten you, but these lands are unmarked. Luna does not bless these lands. It is only a precaution as well as a practice. I cannot allow you two to go in such small numbers. It would ease my conscience if  Etu and another wolf aided you." He kept his tone calm, level, and refrained from speaking one thought aloud - that Talvaxious could not depend on the young wolf. He didn't deem the normal canine weak by any means, but he knew that gifts from Luna were incredibly helpful when facing the unknown. Another wolf with a gift would not hurt. "But I would suggest to be alert." He finished, "Now go. We mustn't rest for long. A proper shelter will be a necessity for the weak and injured." With finality he turned his attention back to Fuzen, hearing his words with a twitch of his ears.

He found it odd, catching the subtle change in his beta's voice. It sounded different, wrong, and it drew him to erect his ears to their full height. It hinted for privacy.

The Alpha of Mist gave a nod as he turned to walk away in a direction that was clearly the opposite direction of  the pack. He only paused once to glance at Fuzen, waiting for the beta to join his side. "Come, I would enjoy your aid." He moved further, creating a short distance from himself and the resting group who had slowly rose in conversation amidst each other. The octave was soft, like a breeze, and the talk between wolf to wolf was a mere murmur. Unease was still present, but it wasn't as overbearing as it had been.

Luna's Backside! They had both been so close to slipping away. As far as Talvaxious was concerned they would have been fine with just the two of them. Two more wolves would draw more attention and the fact that they were Mist pack did not help in the Elder's mind. Who knew how they other two would respond to an elder wolf's commands, especially if they had no real idea of Talvaxious' capabilities. Old as he was, he had been the lead fighter of the Mountain Pack once, charged with training the younger wolves in all the ins and outs of combat, strategies and the like. As Tael moved away the Elder shot Recruit an apologetic look, indicating he was no more pleased with the situation than Recruit was.

He drew up closer to Recruit "Guess we Didn't move fast enough. As much as I hate to admit it Tael does have a valid point"

His gaze leveled on the younger wolf, and Talvaxious was unable to resist an opportunity to mess with Recruit's nerves a bit. It was quite possibly a bad idea as it seemed that poor Recruit's nerves were already in a tussle as it were, but when it all came down to it, Talvaxious was truly a cynical old bastard at times. "This place is dangerous you know. Although the larger scouting party will draw more attention, at least we will have a greater chance of survival against the horrid creatures lurking and skulking about these lands now won't we Recruit" he added with a chuckle before plopping onto his belly and looking up at Recruit.

"And don't call me sir...It makes me feel old damn it." he grunted as he glanced back towards Etu and waited for the wolf to pick his companion. Etu could not be much older than Recruit by the look of it all, but as far as fighting prowess was concerned, well the young Mist Pack wolf had a commanding presence about him. In some ways Etu reminded Talvaxious of himself during his younger days, well what little fragments he could dwell upon in any case, and after a long pause the Elder wolf muttered distractedly "That was such a very long time ago after all"

"Come along now Etu, we mustn't dawdle. The older wolves must find shelter soon less their old bones seize up on them!" he called playfully as he rolled onto his back then writhed back and forth a  few times in the cold earth to address a stubborn itch.

Talvaxious rolled over onto his belly once more then pulled himself up into a sitting position eyes returning to Recruit's once more before sliding his gaze to the looming forest currently surrounding them.

"So what's your story anyway? You're of the Mountain Pack no doubt, but so seldom seen. Have you ever killed something Recruit? A raccoon perhaps? A beaver, anything so much as a fluffy little squirrel? What goes on inside that youthful and sprightly mind of yours? I am intrigued young one!"

Recruit looked to the elder with a slightly concerned look. The elder seemed calm and collected with his laughter despite their deployment to recon with monsters. And no, He was not talking about The Mist pack or even those other scary wolves like 'Etu'. At this point, He didn't care. There were actual monsters!

Once the elder cracked a joke , Recruit was hesitant to laugh along. He was afraid. He already felt jittery. Despite this, he forced himself to laugh and smile, showing them that he, in fact, was not afraid. When in reality,This couldn't be further from the truth.

"Yup. Don't worry. Im sure they'll- be slowed by a small wolf's corpse... I'm -I'm pretty sure my corpse ca-would do more in combat-t than I can!"

He joked, laughing along to the elder's joke.

He waited a bit, looking back to the small group. They all seemed tired and sad. It may be better to leave this group for a patrol to give them rest. Although they were unafraid to show their emotion and weakness aroind the others, They had an excuse.

He blinked  few times for his eyes to focus. Once again, He had trailed off into a deep thought or more like a daydream. He heard the Elder's voice as he stated his thoughts on Recruit calling him 'Sir'.

"Yes si- Ma'a- "He stopped, growing frustrated with his in-ability to speak.

"Elder? other wolf. I don't know your name...sorry." He asked forgiveness , quickly skipping over his mistake.

"Anyways..." He thought for a moment, trying to recall his past.

"Well, I had killed a few things. But mostly for fun. My brothers were the ones that somewhat supported the family. They had the powerful abilities of the parents..."

Recruit paused, thinking of more things to add to the story.

"They protected my parents and I from the diseased wolves...and I hadn't seen them since. I don't know where they went. I didn't much care for where they were. While I did not posses any powers close to them- or any powers at all for that matter, I still couldn't forgive myself for not fighting along side them. I was weak. I guess I was also a bit Jealous.-" He realized that he was trailing on and on. It probably sounded EXTREMELY boring.

"Uhhh...well...I guess..." He tried to remember the last question. What was going through his mind. He came up with a witty reply. Recruit grinned as he said:

"Is any-thing going through my mind? I would say no. I don't think anything goes through my mind." He chuckled lightly, Looking to the Elder with a smile.

"How about you?"

Etu did not find his situation pleasant, but he nodded to his leader like any loyal packmate would do. He knew they were right to be weary of his nature towards the enemy pack, but, putting his stubbornness aside, he watched as the elder approached him. Despite his better judgement, Etu found the elder wasn't too awful, though he found his more playful tone unamusing as a serious fighter. Still, he would do as his leader asked and he merely bowed in response.

"I will find someone suitable, though it seems most of the Packs are low," he informed the elder as the younger wolf, Recruit, joined them. Etu walked away and scanned the clearing. There didn't appear to be many wolves around that were not busy tending to wounds or too wounded themselves. It sort of made him scoff at how weak they were, but he kept his thoughts and actions quietly to himself. There was a she-wolf with a black coat that seemed surrounded in green standing a distance from the rest of the pack. He remembered that she was friends with the she-wolf Clara that their second had become all too close to. She seems like a coward, he thought, though he really rarely thought anyone was worthy of his praise. He did find the Mountain Pack medicine wolf rather talented and could see her as a fitting mate if she was not of mountain pack or a medicine wolf. It almost made him wonder how Mountain Pack was blessed with such a beautiful creature while they received the curse that was his brother.

After searching for a bit, He found that Virgo was rather unbusy and, desiring a Mist Pack Wolf next to him, decided it wouldn't hurt to ask the older wolf to join him. Etu found that he admired the strong guard and would be pleased to have him join since, once again, his admiration was hard to come by.

"Virgo," he called with a deep rumble filled with respect for the other wolf. "I was wondering if you carried to join the normal wolf, the mountain pack elder, and I to scope the area ahead?" he asked.

Clara didnt expect Fuzen to start licking her fur. At first, she was going to move, but he started to lick behind her ears which made her close her eyes in content. Enjoying this type of treatment that she hadnt recieved in years. As a pup, her parents would do this for her and it was a weakness she grew fond of. Once Fuzen had stopped, the huntress opened her eyes and looked towards him, his gaze no longer on her but on his Alpha. This made her look towards the Alpha and she had given him a brief nod, listening to Fuzen and glancing at him when he had dropped his head. For some reason, she had managed to pick up the hint that he wanted to talk with the Alpha alone. Clara lifted her head and gently bumped his "Go." it's not that she was in love with him or anything, she was just growing fond of him and wanted to be friends. "I'll keep watch." her ability had come in handy multiple times. So keeping the wolves safe would be a breeze. Speaking of, she activated her ability, looking every which way, seeing if there was anything to worry about. So far so good. But she did find a pack of deer moving together. Probably escapees from the fire.

"Trava, Pup, there's a pack of deer to the east." said clara, pulling herself from her ability and looked towards the wolves that were prepping to head off (im assuming, I can change if need be) "If you are to get food." she got up from the ground and walked over "I would come with you but I have to keep an eye out for our wolves. Cant let anything happen to them, especially after what we had just gone through." said the huntress, her eyes shifting from Tava, to the pup. She gave him a soft nod in greeting.

Fuzen gently nudged Clsra after she nudged him,  he was beginning to feel affection for the female,  despite always being strict to follow the pack law. He glances towards Tael,  and sighs softly,  bracing himself.

He follows after his Alpha,  his golden gaze held strictly forward. His paws left deep imprints in the soft soil, yet his white paws didn't seem to hold dirt whatso ever.

Once the Alpha and beta were far enough that no wolf could hear them,  Fuzen sighed.  "Charon is dead,  Tael."  In this moment Fuzen didn't see Tael as his Alpha,  instead as the friend they once were long ago.  "Charon attacked me when I was in Mountain Pack territory,  I was ensuring that all wolves were safe!"  Fuzen trembled,  his mind spinning.  "He was trying to kill me,  I was able to dodge his attacks,  I couldn't fight him!"  He shook his head,  looking toward the forest in his right. "He slashed my muzzle,  why would our ancestors  allow him to give me his scar?"

Eventually Fuzen sits down,  his eyes were confused and sad. "Charon had thrown me,  yet before he could rip my throat out..  and flaming oak fell on him.  It crushed him,  yet his dying eyes were still on me..  they were filled with hate."  The beta sighs again,  looking away from Tael. "Why didn't it kill me?  Why kill Mountain Pack's only Alpha?  At least if I would have died,  Mountain Pack would still have a leader.."  His eyes fall onto his paws, yet due to his scar he no longer looked like Fuzen,  especially with his pelt darkened with ash.  He looked like Charon,  yet no wolf would amount to Charon's strength and courage.

Purple eyes watch from the shadows,  yet no wolf had spotted this silent watcher thankfully.  This creature creaped silently through the bushes,  blending in perfectly. The bushes didn't even move as the creature did, something was different with this one. No scent was in the wind, no sound was audiable even when the creature was merely inches away from an alert wolf.

Then our creature spotted a wolf of pure white, his eyes golden and his body muscular.  Curiosity strikes the creature,  so it follows this wolf from the bushes, still remaining hidden. The name of the wolf became apparent to the creature,  Etu.

Etu then approaches a wolf of a dark pelt.  The creature positions itself behind the dark wolf,  who is called Virgo.

These ones are so strange..

thought the creature. Then for only one moment,  the creatures piercing purple gaze is visable to Etu.  It meets his gaze,  the alluring and beautiful eyes only visable for a moment,  before disappearing.

In one moment,  she was there. In the next,  our female creature had vanished into thin air. Gone for now,  yet not for long.

The large black wolf sat still,  watching over the injured and weak.  He has surprisingly gotten away from the flames without injury, despite stopping to help those who were in danger.

His crimson gaze looked towards Etu, and nodded briskly. "Quite, we cant depened on only an average wolf to protect our valuable elder."  Virgo's voice was gruff, yet kind and brave. He got to his heavy paws, and stretched for a moment.

Suddenly,  a feeling overcame the Guard,  the feeling of being watched.  He tested the air,  there was no foreign scent,  yet he couldn't shake the feeling.  Glancing around for a moment,  he then looked back towards Etu.  "Lets get to them,  before a rabbit scares the normal wolf out of his pelt."  Virgo chuckles,  walking up beside Etu.

preparing to move

As he awaited Etu and  his chosen companion, the Elder found Recruit's gaze and sighed still ignoring with amusement the fact that Recruit did not know his name. It was an absurd thing for the Elder to draw humor from but he could not help himself; the old bastard took humor wherever he could find a means for it these days!

He was earnestly serious with his next words though. This was clearly a huge ordeal for Recruit and the Elder would not belittle the young wolf or his emotions by not devoting attention to the touchy subject.

"Power can sometimes be a curse...Especially if control is lost over it."The Elder paused for another moment, fighting back those unpleasant fragments of thought that all too often threatened to bore their way from the darkest parts of his heart and mind and a visible shutter shot through his body while he regained his composure.

"Recruit, you could have all the power in the world but what good is all that power if you don't know the basics of survival? Power does not necessarily have to give you the upper hand at anything and we do not and should not have to rely on it for greatness.  At times it is simply convenient. It is a rare thing I will admit, for a pup of your age not to have manifested any power but this does not mean it isn't there or that you are any less a wolf than your kin. Luna does things in her own time young one and in her own way! Do not be in such a hurry to posses power. Find yourself first Recruit then you will be unstoppable."

Talvaxious watched as Clara moved towards them and nodded gently at her words.

"I agree that you should stay here" he confirmed as he watched Fuzen leave with Tael.

A lower tone now he continued as she drew up beside them "Fuzen needs support right now. I don't know what happened but I'm sure you can find a way to cheer him up huntress! We will bring some deer back with us once we've made a sweep of the area."

He looked around the immediate area  scanning the trees around them and sniffing at the air for the scent of the female hawk that had led him to Ryka earlier that day but soon abandoned the task, realizing that it was too dark to visibly see the hawk and searching for its scent was even more futile given the large gathering of wolves and their mingled scents. She would move when he moved. It was a strange bond the two animals shared a strange bond indeed; unique to anything the wolf had witnessed in his long life but he was grateful for it none the less.

For a long while since he had taken control of his mind again and a while yet he supposed while he had still been stricken, Oobai had been with him, and often the two of them could be seen wandering the territories together. It was a simple relationship really. Whenever she was close during meal times, the Elder would toss her a rabbit haunch or a slab of meat; whatever was laying about out of his own portions, and in turn, she would circle the skies around them sometimes for miles, shrieking and leading the wolf to points of interest.

"I'm sure Oobai is near by. If anything she can spot the herd from the skies should we lose track of them in our travels."

Ice

Mood: Alone, Aware, Cold

The storm was as thick as her fur as Ice soldiered her way through the ice and snow. Then out of nowhere a large chunk of ice and snow fell from the cliff side and landed straight on her back, dragging her hind legs beneath the snow and ice. Panic began to flood through her blood as she writhed to escape the chunk of frozen water that had pinned her to the ground. Gazing upwards and Yelping in absolute agony as the ice chunk sunk ever so slightly further into the snow. "HELP!!!!!! ANYBODY!!!! PLEASE!!!" Her yowl carried across the howling wind, possibly for countless miles. However Ice didn't notice this as she lowered her head and closed her eyes........

The young wolf couldn't help but smile. The elder's speech wasn't much reasuring of his usefullness, but it still retained wise lessons that he knew could ease his mind. He glanced to the pack for a moment, then looked to the elder who will accompany him on the trip. He nodded to the elder's words with appreciation for his kind nature.

Although, the thought of his past mistakes made him cringe, He found that some of them were just careless mistakes...Some of them.

"Well...still, If we get in a fight, I'll do the best I can. It would only be useful if...I -I had powers in that - scenario." He caugjt himself once again scrambling to replace words. He had this thought out in his mind, but changed it when he went to speak. Why? He couldn't figure this out. This had been with him since he was first able to speak. He withdrew his attention from the elder, looking down at his paws as he silently contimplated if he would still be able to function properly.

The pristine color of his fur glistened like a beacon underneath the gradually setting sun. Darkness, it would provide them good cover, but it would also become an incredible hindrance. The sight of night, a gift from Luna, would not aid them in unknown territory. Yet the tone of his beta returned him to the situation at hand. He turned, stark white eyes devoid of pupils looking onto a crestfallen wolf. His tone reeked with familiarity, a sound that held no authority or formality. It was unnatural for Fuzen, but Tael welcomed it. They rarely had time to converse as they once had before their ranks took place. In addition, he welcomed it due to the comfort that it brought. Despite their constant head-butting and fight to remain in their ranks with each other, his beta still looked to him for trust, respect, support, and the like.

Yet he did not expect the words that fell from the electric wolf's scarred muzzle. Surprise flooded his features, drew a cold mist to rise from his body as ice seeped from his pores. Charon... "Ch-Charon is..." his voice faltered, trembled at the news, but it fell to silence until Fuzen finished.

No, this moment was not welcomed or comfortable. He looked onto Fuzen with concern and quickly sided him, his head brushing up against Fuzen's shoulder. "My friend, I wish that you had not gone through that event alone, but what is done, is done. Charon was a mighty beast, but he was as hardheaded and prideful as he was strong and courageous. A hubris would kill any wolf in due time. It is not your fault, you did not will the tree to strike him."

"Besides, imagine the predicament we would be in if Charon survived. If he sought to kill you when you only meant to ensure safety of all wolves, imagine how our packs would be at this moment. Why, we would be fighting against each other to the death. Although, I hope that it would not come to that... perhaps Luna saw this. Ah, but Luna watched over you too, protected you. She must see great things in you, Fuzen." The alpha of white chuckled as he bumped his head roughly against Fuzen to bring out a reaction that he would be accustomed to. "If you had died, then what and where would the Mist Pack be without their Beta?" He drew back, his eyes lifting to the dimming skies, "As for that scar on your muzzle, perhaps it is a reminder to us all... our packs should have formed long ago. A tragedy such as this should not force us to momentarily become one. However, I do not think this is so..."

Tael sat back, ears perked forward as he glanced to the mass of wolves they now led, "I believe that mark of yours was given as a sign. Mountain Pack is without a beta... and now an alpha. Perhaps Luna saw something within you." His gaze returned, head turning to properly look onto his second-in-command, "Either way, I thank you for confiding in me."

A shiver coursed through the betas body at Tael's words, yet he meets his friends icy gaze. "I don't know if I could be an alpha yet." He says softly. Fuzen had been a beta for quite some time and showed many promising features. He was strong, protective, and kind. Yet he has a habit of doubting himself, which came from constantly being ridiculed in his younger years.
He looks toward the stars that were peaking through the darkening sky, was this a test of his leadership? Perhaps a test of judgement? He shakes his head slightly, the scar on his muzzle was dark, as were his typically bright markings.
How could he lead Mountain pack? He was bred with an outsider, a wolf of any type of blood. This changed the way Luna saw him, didn't it?
A frigid breeze blew through his pelt, and he looks towards Tael. "We should be getting back, we have to find a cave for the injured and elderly." The temperature was dropping, which made Fuzen think of winter. The season of snow would be upon them soon, they must seek out a new territory before snow kills them off.
He gets to his paws, and looks towards the others. His gaze falls on Clara, who looked peaceful as she surveyed the others. He lightens slightly, and his muzzle twitches. He quickly corrects himself, hoping Tael had not spotted his loving gaze toward the she-wolf. What would he say if he found out about their forbidden interest? He was Fuzen's alpha, and would have every right to punish the beta how he saw fit, which only left one solution.
He cannot fall in love with Clara.

Tael nodded softly, "It takes a strong mind and an even stronger heart. In time, I believe that you could be an Alpha, whether it is to replace me or lead Mountain pack." He stood then, shaking the nonexistent dirt from frozen fur. "Although it would be favorable if we could join as one unit, one pack..." the alpha spoke absently, more to himself than to Fuzen as he began to draw closer to the grouped up wolves. "Anyway, we will speak about this again, in the near future. For now, we shall focus on the task at hand. A shelter is indeed a dire necessity right now as it seems winter is on her way." At the thought of the cold, he shivered. It was odd, he was nearly born from the cold itself, but he still felt its uncomfortable and rather painful touch in his bones.

"Yet we have Etu, Virgo, Talva, and Recruit scouting ahead. A roll call would be necessary yet I fear the well being and present safety." He spoke as he looked to Fuzen, his head tilting at the others intense gaze. It wouldn't have been odd if such a level of intensity was directed at him - maybe he has ice dripping from his nose again - but Fuzen's gaze was beyond him, somewhere behind. He glanced over at the realization, but his eyes only met their brethren. Strange, was a wolf doing something odd or...?

The wolf of pure white shook his head before trotting back to the group that awaited them. "Apologies, but it seems our rest must be cut short. We shall continue onward in search of a cave of some sort. Talva, Etu, Virgo, and Recruit will return to us shortly, I am sure, but we must move. We've no time to waste."

Once the She-wolf had finished talking with the wolves to go scouting, she had returned to where she had been before. Sitting there and watching the other wolves. Her ears turned here and there, only to pause as she glanced at Fuzen and caught him looking at her. Did she have something on her face other than her markings? But looking at his gaze, it was different and sent chills down her spine. Was this good or bad? Either way, it only happened just by looking at Fuzen and realising he had a different look in his eyes. Just as she stood, the Alpha of the Mist had spoke up, apologizing for cutting the resting stop short and now having to find a cave. The four wolves he had mentioned had gone scouting and he was sure that they would return shortly. "Give us some time to get to our feet. We still have injured and the Elderly." she pointed out. Glancing towards Fuzen again and walking over to him.

"Are you alright, Fuzen?"
she felt like he had experienced something horrid. Something about his body language had just stuck to her and made her wonder what happened during his private time with the Alpha. Her ears lowered a little bit but then perked, hearing something but she couldnt make it out due to her ears going low just a few seconds ago.Though her heart had been beating the same way it had when Fuzen was around and when she was next to him.

"Can anyone hear me!!!!????" Ice screamed as the boulder chunks sunk deeper into the snow. Letting out another agonized yowl she though to herself, "It's no use I guess I will die here. But not yet" Ice Yowled once again But mid way through the howl the chunks of ice sunk even further into the snow. Because of this, Ice ended up Yowling much louder than she intended to and this time she heard her yowl for help echo across the valley. "Someone had to hear that." Ice thought. However though, the bone chilling wind and snow was catching up to her and she began to shiver more uncontrollably. Then she howled as loud as her lungs would let her to and then, lungs aching beyond feeling, she flopped down in utter defeat and said silently, "I'm sorry mother, I failed you." Lowering her head, Ice closed her eyes and drifted into a shallow sleep...
