The region known as the Ash Islands was a relatively peaceful place inhabited by vampires, succubi, and... abominations. Recently, hews found the island and settled near the shore. Normally, this wouldn't be much of an issue.

But too bad; it is, because they just created one. Right from the start, the hews began an invasion to drive the other races out from the Ash Island in order to take over the precious resources beneath the islands, but it wasn't going to be that easy.

Despite their differences, many of those who lived on the island banded together to stop the hews' attack, preventing them from taking a step further. However, more people came. As the band of hews fell, they were quickly replaced by more power-hungry warmongers, clearly not willing to die as easily. But still, they weren't just going to lose to some slightly bigger hews.

They all must die.

As of yesterday, a local captain has been assigned to assemble a militia of capable fighters to help combat the incoming threat, as the local army was eventually going to be spread too thin to contain the hew invasion. Swiftly, he and his men have gone from village to village, recruiting anyone willing to lend a hand to deter the invasion, for just a little while longer...

Weapon: The residents of the Ash Islands primarily use Iron weapons, which are one of the most common metals available. they have also gotten their hands on flintlock-style pistols.

Stat Distribution:

As this is an RPG, everyone will start out with different stats. Each are as follows:
Vit affects Health, which is how much punishment you can take before getting knocked out.
Pow is a combination of Strength and Magic, it influences your damage.
Def reduces physical damage taken by 1 for every 2 points.
Res reduces magical damage taken by 1 for every 2 points.
Spd affects turn order during combat. It also affects the damage of some abilities.

The sixth stat affects how quickly certain races learn combat skills. Higher numbers will result in skills being learned in earlier levels, as well as making them easier to use.
Vampires have Authority.
Succubi have Charisma.
Zrail have Virulence.
Gaear have Intimidation.
Gremlins have Flexibility.

The seventh stat is more like a modifier. It affects the strength of your Physical and Magical attacks. There is PhysAtk and MagAtk.
Increasing one of your modifiers will reduce the other(1.2x PhysAtk, 0.8x MagAtk). They can be increased in increments of 0.1x, up to a limit of 1.3x.
Stat points are not used to change your damage modifier.

By default, your stat distribution is:
7 Vit, 4 Pow, 4 Def, 4 Res, 3 Spd, 5 Sixth.
HP can be changed to be low as 5 and high as 9.
Pow, Def, Res, and Spd can be as low as 1 and as high as 7.
Sixth Stat can be as low as 3 and as high as 9.
Vampire: The original inhabitants of the Ash Islands, more than a few are not too pleased with Hews treading on their homeland. They're very similar to Hews, though they do have the typical pale skin and red eyes. They are also slightly stronger than Hews, and have some slight magical affinity. As expected, they grow stronger at night and detest sunlight. During the nighttime, Vampires are capable of turning into giant bats temporarily and flying short distances.

Succubus: Not your typical one. They only bear the wings and tails of the ones described in stories, but not exactly the attitudes of them. Most succubi seem friendly at first, but don't react very well to being angered. Their large wings are able to carry them through the air for over a minute, and they are capable of powerful magic. Several years ago, there were a few that immigrated to northern Redukan, and have subsequently revealed the Ash Islands to the intruding Hews.

Zrail: Shapeshifting beings that can change themselves to look like a Hew. Their body normally takes on the form of a sludge-like creature with glowing eyes, and as a Hew, keep some of their previous properties. They look believeable enough, but their 'skin' will be slightly dark and the sludge-like substance that makes them up can be seen in patches. Unfortunately, they're not as educated as other races, and tend not to speak very fluently. In their true form, they can move through obstacles such as grates and fences easily, and are capable of using their body as a weapon.

Gaear: Known by the name of "werewolf" by Hews, these ferocious wolf-like humanoids live a usually solitary life in the forests of Ash, usually only coming out to hunt animals. When stressed, they can enlarge themselves at will for increased strength, and use their devastating claws to inflict serious injuries. Clothes are usually damaged during transformation, though magic enchantments usually allow for an easy fix. Being the strongest of any race in the islands, they are capable of going toe-to-toe with a Tarq, weapon in hand or otherwise.

Gremlin: Small, green-skinned demonic creatures that are about half as tall as a normal human. Gremlins are weak, but extremely nimble and sneaky, able to navigate difficult terrain easily or find places to hide due to their small stature. Despite their weakness, they are still capable of wielding most weapons with relative ease with enough training. Due to their reputation as thieves, many other races of Ash do not trust them easily.

Hew: A common race, but only in Redukan. They're not welcome on the Ash Islands as the troublemakers they are, so the Vampires have banded together to drive them out. Cannot be selected.

Tarq: Said to be the descendant of some sort of legendary creature, the Tarq are a humanoid race nearly twice the size of a regular human, with a fair amount of bulk. They are hunched back a little, but not very much. Some are known to be supporting the attack. Cannot be selected.

Shadeling: The returning, corrupted remnants of people killed in ages past. They have no physical features, save for two glowing eyes amongst their pitch black body. Out of any mainland race, there is little information known about them from the Ash Islands. Cannot be selected.
Marks are a sign that everyone is born with, and keeps for life. It does not affect much physically, but influences combat slightly. Having an advantageous sign increases the damage and healing dealt by 20%, while reducing damage and healing received by 20%. The joker is an exception, however.

Abilities: Having had plenty of training, Arien excels at making successful strikes at foes while mitigating counterattack potential with his shield. He's also capable of supporting allies both offensively and defensively.
Weapon: Sword and Shield
Appearance: Arien wears standard combat gear, which is leather armor supported with some light plate armor that still allows for a mild amount of flexibility. As a vampire, he has pale, greyish skin and dark red eyes, with short black hair.
Description: A well-respected fighter, Captain Arien Tullet distinguished himself quickly by ensuring that anyone under his command survives to the best of his ability. He quickly caught the attention of the leadership, which assigned him to rally soldiers to the cause due to his good-hearted nature.

Ash Islands
The Council - The council of Ash Islands serve under an unnamed figure of extreme authority. Their members comprise of a Vampire, a Succubus, and an extremely intelligence Zrail that masquerades as a human. Not much is known about them, except that they usually provide decisions and directions for the sake of those living in the islands.

Reidal - The vampire leader of an Ash mercenary unit known as the Firebrands, Reidal and his lackeys are willing to take on almost any job... for a price. The Firebrands' stance on the war is unknown, but they have taken several jobs to help assist in the effort already.

Mainland Figures
King Flint Goslyn of Cogsburg - The current ruler of the mainland, known as Avarisse. His domain is in the southernmost region of Avarisse, which is far from the Ash Islands. Famous for having slain a particularly powerful necromancer 15 years ago, and has risen to a position of power because of it. Many theorize that he was the one who started the war, but no proof has been found on the matter.

Princess Lindel - The arrogant, stubborn daughter of Flint, who is mainly known for her uncaring attitude towards most things. Claims to have defeated a great evil in recent time, but this story isn't believed by very much people. Like her father, her involvement in the war is unknown.

Cade Hostnan - A powerful knight identified as one of the attackers on the Ash Islands, he follows his orders without question and orders anyone under him to mercilessly fight on behalf of his kingdom. Very dangerous, and the council wants him dead.

Weapon: Prefers unarmed combat, but carries a pair of daggers just in case.

Appearance: Tries to remain in ‘civilian clothes’, with leather armor underneath for more malleability. In ooze form, he’s a greenish brown color and tends to appear as a pile. Disguised as a Hew, he tends towards the natural Hew pigment (but is slightly darker) as well as having patches of his natural ooze color, brown hair and green eyes.

Description: Born to infiltrate, Tox quickly learned the arts of unarmed combat. With both this and his ability to shapeshift, he makes an excellent infiltrator, even though he isn’t the most… eloquent.

Appearance: Vitria is a short woman with fiery red hair and emerald eyes. Typically wearing light leather armor cut to allow for her tail and wings, she has pale skin and black wings and tail.
Description: Also known as the 'Witch of the Woods' Vitria mainly uses her magic to make deals with desperate people. For a time, Vitria saw the Hew invasion as a good thing. An opportunity to collect more favors. After seeing their cruelty, Vitria changed her mind and set herself to assisting those repelling the invaders.
