Futuristic The Artists (Closed ;_;)

Ericandmylastname

The Village Idiot
The city always lies under a dark, bleaky sky; The Arck was a city that never really the picture perfect idea of 'The Future', sure economy is booming and technology is at it's prime-- yet under the advancements and glamour, fogs over the fact that the class balance never been so tipped over to one size, as the small population of the rich got richer, the majority poor got poorer and the number rising with the increasing number of immigrants lose souls looking for hope-- only to be manipulated to be held down, taken advantage of, or killed.

In the midst of all this lays a mercenary group-- "The Artists" as promptly named, are a group who do tasks for those have the money, no matter what it maybe as long it follows the guidelines and moral code of these characters.

Their business has always been small, escorts, watch, gang disputes, but now as we dive into their story, it suddenly begins to escalate, as fame and riches are quickly followed with risk.

"Jesus Christ it's hot in here."

The ceiling fan at the center of the rather small room moves at a painfully slow rate. The neon lights blinking 'open' at the front window of the 'office' blinks at a rapidly. And slow guitar music plays weakly, almost like a whimper. A young man sits on a chair at the far back of the room. feet crossed as he places it up on the wooden desk in front of him. He leans back a bit squints as he looks down at the barrel of a gun.

He looks at it and raises it up in the air, holding it to see if there's any form of dirt and grime on it as he pulls out a cotton swab and begin to clean the inside barrel of it.

"Slooow day." He murmured.

Anthem who was sitting in a chair not to far away heard Eric's comment and chuckled. "Yeah, you can say that again" Anthem stood up and stretched with a grunt. "Imma go mess around with the left over parts I have in the back. Later..." And with that he got up and walked to the back door.

As Anthem was headed toward the back to look at spare and left over parts it seemed Jaiden was headed toward the front desk. Really they were pondering to head outside into the warm weather as it did not really bother them all too much if not they welcomed it. Their combat drone following after behind Jaiden as usual, it seemed good to have frequently have it around and to test it. It had stopped just behind Jaiden as they hesitated a moment. "Oh hey, afternoon." They smiled cheerfully and waved toward Anthem. "How's it going..?" Their voice was light as always, and someone who did not know Jaiden would likely assume them to be female.

"Ayy, I'm off to see what I can do the spare parts I have." He said casually before passing her and entering the hallway. Though Anthem made the mistake of calling jaiden a girl multiple times when they were younger he eventually got used to it and they became friends.

@Thane Korino

Vermilia was sat quietly near the some of the group, she was cleaning her weapons something she does normally on slow boring days. She had already finished her rifle and revolvers but now came the awkward part cleaning her final weapons her boots. Why was it awkward since she hates taking them off for whatever reason even with the other three it made her feel defenseless.

Once Anthem was in his room he walked too his desk and began to list the materials he had. "A spring,a few nails, some scrap metal, industrial strength string,a broken land mine, two broken revolvers, and a pair of boots I bought from the thrift shop, annnnnd, a pack of stickers..." He laid them out in front of himself. "Alright! Let's get started" he snapped a pair of goggles on and clapped his hands together once.

Jaiden seemed to be interested for a moment. "Ah, alright then!" They giggled. "Tell me if you find or see anything I might like. I think I'm going to try and head out for a bit!" they walked out of the doorway as Anthem had gone past. Slowly walking over to the front desk to check on Eric who seemed bothered by the heat. "I think I'm going to head out for a bit, unless there's anything you'll be needing me to hang around here for?" Jaiden stretched. "I might be able to even get to head over to the new burger joint, I hear they have some kind of opening discount or something like that." The combat drone continued to follow behind Jaiden. He did not seem to really notice Vermilla cleaning her weapons silently in the background; they often figured or thought it was best too let her do so undisturbed.

Eric looked over at Jaiden and tilted his head.

"Don't-- who knows what customer could walk through the-" He paused, and looked around the room to see literally nothing happening.

He shifted his jaw and sagged his shoulders, and placed his gun on the table.

"I'm coming with you. Vermilia?" He asked, as he planted his feet on the ground and rose, swinging over across the table.

But then, the door in front of the group swinged open, and a shady individual walked through.

He was wearing the classic trench coat and sunglasses, with a fedora hat that all looked way out of times-- it was peculiar especially at a time like this.

The man took a slow step through, with it so intimidating Eric had to lean back to reach for his gun, but the man raised both hands.

"Artists, right?"

"Who's asking?" Eric asked in a low tone.

"I got a job....it'll need you all."

"We're practically a package deal. What is it?"

"My master is a local gang boss across downtown. Rumor has it there's a mark on his head and there might be an assassination attempt tonight while he sleeps."

Eric looks over to his group.

"So we're guards."

"Yes."

"Whadya think, guys?"

After about an hours of tinkering in the back Anthem had finally finished his invention and decided to go outside and show the rest of the crew. "It's finished! It's finally finished!" He yelled holding it up in the air like a prize "It's Spring boots!" he said finally noticing the man in the trench coat "new costumer?" he said holding his hand out for a handshake. @ECDeadly
