LIBRIS - Literary Bureau of Research, Investigation and Security.  Basically?  We're the fairy tale cops.

The Narrative - the invisible force which tries to turn the world into a collection of stories.  Generally, it works with the common patterns and motifs found in folk tales and legends, but it has been known to include novels such as Peter Pan or the Wizard of Oz which have ingrained themselves into the collective human psyche.

Literary Incursion - what we call it when a story is happening, specifically when it's out of LIBRIS supervision and control.  A Snow White getting poisoned, a Goldilocks being attacked by bears, a Rapunzel being locked up.

Memetic Event - the people the Narrative tries to turn into story characters.  Much like the Incursions themselves, ME's are categorized using the Index.

The Index - The Aarne-Thompson-Uther Index, a scholarly work codifying the the tale types used by the Narrative.  An invaluable resource for LIBRIS agents.

Levels - a classification system used by LIBRIS to indicate how far into the Narrative a Memetic Event is.  Level 0's are ordinary people, not on the spectrum at all, while Level 5's have fully embraced their role in the story.

Role - refers to the character an ME is intended to play in their respective story.
