Fantasy Tell Me the Tales of Old and Those of New

She scoffed at that a bit. “Don’t insult me. I’m not that stupid to do things so openly.” She muttered “I believe they knew each other as children. This was after I left the country but my understanding is they were very good friends for a long time.” She told him.

“Remember your place. It is not here anymore Maxine.” He told her forcefully, instructing the guards not to let anybody into his room.

Aemond chuckled some and nodded "I meant more towards the stubborness, not anything else." He said before taking her back inside "Ah, so thats why she is in love with him." He said shaking his head some "Childhood love never lasts."

Max frowned deeply and went with the guards as they escorted her back to town and to the Inn she was staying at. She gave a heavy sigh as her father came out to find her in the guards arms "Your daughter has been tresspassing in the castle, please make sure to keep her in line in the future." She heard them say.

She sighed quietly and just nodded, “I understand I shouldn’t be getting up on top of her right now but could we at least go see vhagar? I miss her.” When they were first betrothed she’d been terrified of the creature but she’d grown to love her with each visit and seeing what the bond really was between a dragon and rider.

He quickly thanked them and assured them it wouldn’t happen again when she was left with him, escorting her back up to her room and pushing her inside. Once the door was shut away from prying eyes he raised one hand and struck her across the face. “You stupid girl!” He shouted. “What did I tel you?! Forget tomorrow we are leaving now. I should never have let you join me at that dinner.”

Aemond smiled and gave her a nod "Alright, we can atleast visit her. I'm sure she would enjoy the company. Sometimes I think she likes you more than me." He said with a small laugh. He was thankful that she had bonded with Vhagar and was no longer scared of her.

Max fell back as his hand fell across her face with all his force. She held her cheek and shook her head "They're liars! I was helping the king back home from getting drunk in a tavern. I wanted to make sure he was safe." She yelled back and went wide eyed when he said they would be leaving "No! No please don't make us leave!"

She smiled and had Edith help her change once they were back in their rooms, coming out to him better dressed for walking along the cliffs. “I am ready.” She told him happily.

“You are not a child anymore! It is time you grew up and learned how to follow orders!” He spat at her. “We do not belong here do you understand me?! We need to leave!” He told her, calling for the two maids they had brought with them to help her pack her things

Aemond took her hand as she came out after being dressed and took her up to the cliffs. He sighed softly as they walked "I'm worried, if Rhenyra and Daemon over throw Aegon....we may have a harder time overthrowing them."

Max frowned deeply staying quiet as he left the room. She packed her things with the help of a few maids but silently cried while doing so. She wanted to stay home, she didn't want to leave and go back to the lonlieness of their home.

She frowned and stopped him, placing a hand to his chest. “If it comes down to it then we will bend the knee to them. I want to go home aemond. At any cost.” She told him seriously before continuing, seeing the monstrous shadow that was vhagar nested on a large outcropping, a few people always nearby to see how close they could get. A fee charter corpses around from those who had dared too much.

Joseph woke up with a splitter headache, taking a little time to remember why he felt like that and what had happened but it came to him soon enough and he called for George to be brought to his rooms

Aemond frowned deeply shaking his head some but kept quiet. He smiled happily as they got to Vhagar and went over placing his hand to her head when she leant down to him "Hello there beautiful." He said gently.

George came in when a maiden came to get him. He sighed heavily but stood tall for the king "Yes my king, how can I help you?" He asked

“Preparations need to be made for his burial.” He told him frowning. “And when aemond is next found I want to speak to him.” He told him. “I want to see Maxine if she is still in the city as well.” He mutterwd

She smiled and stepped up to her, placing a hand against her nose. “Rystas Vaghar.” She murmured, “thank you for always bringing him back safely.” She told her, spending some time with her before heading back towards the castle to get cleaned up for dinner. “It’s going to be chaos for a few days.”

George gave him a nod as he listened "Preparations are already being done your grace. He will be next to your mother and brother." He explained before giving a small sigh "Lady Wends has been sent to the city where she was staying. From my knowledge Lord Wends plans on taking them back home tonight." He explained before leaving to find Aemond.

Aemond stayed with the two of them for a while until they decided to leave and head back for dinner. He gave her a small nod and sighed heavily "Yes they will be, but we will be alright." He said softly before raising an eyebrow as George came up to him saying that the King would like to see him.

She nodded to him. “Go. I will see you later.” She murmured, heading back to their rooms.

Joseph looked up when they announced Aemond entering. “Thank you for your help earlier first off. Secondly. Whilst you are still here in this kingdom… I would very much appreciate the support of you and your dragon as mg hand.” He told him.

-2 months-

It has been two months since King Stephen's death, and while Aemond was the hand of the King. He still felt that Joseph didn't trust him fully. Though, he was ready to prove his 'loyalty' and get his full trust. In another town a small rebellion had rosen against Joseph, thinking he was unfit to be king. As a good hand he offered to take Vhagar over and scare the people for Joseph, to let them know that the rebellion would be useless in the end. They were nearly there now, having been traveling for nearly 3 weeks, he just hoped that this went smoothly.

Max was drained by the time she got to the gates of the castle. She had been traveling for 3 weeks now trying to get to Joseph. Her father was leading the rebellion against Joseph, thinking he would be unfit to rule. While everyone thought it was small, she knew the truth, that her father had hundreds of men from neighboring towns ready to fight. She looked at rhe guards as they stopped her and panted softly "Please....I need to see the King, its an emergency, life or death." She said seriously.

Carmen had been walking the halls, just to get out of their rooms and to keep herself occupied. They were expecting aemond home any day now but each one made her more nervous tnan the last. She knew he was capable. There wasn’t a better swordsman that she’d ever heard of but still she worried.

Joseph had just finished his meetings and was going to walk the gardens to speak with a few of the staff when he made his way past the gates and heard her familiar voice, turning t to see her pleading. “Max? What are you doing here?”

Aemond frowned deeply though as they arrived seeing more than a couple men. It was hundreds, they did not have the men for this. Vhagar would be an advantage, but he also did not plan to rely on her in battle. Only have her as a scare tactic.

Max saw Joseph walk by and quickly did a courtsey "Your majesty....please there is something important you need to hear. Its about the rebellion." She pleaded letting out a sigh of relief when he let her through. She walked with him giving a heavy sigh "My father....he has gathered hundreds of men from neighboring towns. They plan to attack the small army you have sent and take the first steps towards war. I came as soon as I overheard him, please tell me you haven't sent them yet."

Joseph frowned and shook his head. “No they…. They will already be there. They should be returning already but if it is as bad as you say then that likely not. Come, I need you to relay this to my council.” He told her, walking quickly and sending guards to collect the others.

Carmen frowned as she spotted Joseph walking quickly with the same woman from a few weeks ago, standing a little taller. She knew that where she was from was where aemond had been sent, feeling in her gut now that something was wrong

Max gulped some but gave a small nod and followed him to the council feeling like a failure now for not getting there in time. She spoke with his council explaining everything as she had to him and gave a heavy sigh "I apologize for my father's actions your majesty....he is a good man but...I'm not sure what has happened to him."

Aemond grunted as he made his way off the battlefield with the only other man left standing. They got on Vhagar and quickly made their way back home to tell The King of what happened. It had been worse than they had expected, but still Aemond came out on top in the end.

He had rushed after the foreign prince, just a foot soldier on his first assignment and everything had gone so wrong. All he wanted to do was get back to the safety of the city even if that meant mounting the besst with a wingspan of 150m. He was almost there, the prince was already on board and calling to him when the sound of s spear whizzing through the air went right over the soldiers head and he watched as it struck aemond, impaling him through the chest and that was all it took for the dragon to let out a bloodcurdling roar and take flight, leaving the one soldier behind to face a small group of reinforcements alone.

Joseph frowned and just raises a hand. “You’ve done well to bring this to our attention. I hope that our men return safely. For now let us get you somewhere to stay.” He told her.

Max gave a small nod and fell silent as the king tokk her to the handmaidens to find a room. She looked at him with saddened eyes "Thank you, your majesty." She said softly before following the maidens.

Aemond could only grunt as the spear struck his chest. He was fading as Vhagar roared and took off not even able to hear the screams of the man below them.

Carmen had been pacing by this point, desperate to know what all the hushed whispers were about amongst the council until she heard her name and looked up to see George there. “What is it? They’ve been gone for such a long time. Are they oka-“ she was cut off by the sound of a roar ripping through the sky and she looked up in time to see vhagar flying towards her landing spot high in the air. “Somethings wrong. She doesn’t scream.” She told him quickly

Joseph frowned and shook his head. “Maxine. Get some rest. I will send someone to collect you for dinner later.” He told her gently. “You are safe here.” He promised her

George went to Carmen after the council had ended wanting to inform her of what could possibly be happening. He frowned deeply when the Dragon's roar echoed through the castle. He gave her a nod "Okay, lets go." He said grabbing a few guards as well as they took off to the cliffs. He stood back when they heard Vhagar roar again shaking his head some "See if you can get her calm, I don't need her eating or burning my men."

Max gave a small nod and went to rest for the time being trying to just relax the best she could. She woke up later that evening hearing a knock at the door with a handmaiden coming in to tell her dinner would be served very soon.

She shook her head and swallowed thickly as she saw the blood dripping down the ladder they used to mount her. “Vhagar! Vhagar lykiri!” She called as loud as she could. “Lykiri!” She began stepping closer, getting to where the old girl turned and had fangs inches away from carmens face. “Lykiri! We want to help him!” She told her, praying she understood. She let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding when the dragon finally settled enough that Carmen could climb up to get to aemond slumped in the saddle, scrambling to get to him quicker “He’s been hit. There’s a spear in his chest!”
She called down to them, getting him released from the straps and carefully moving him to where she could slide him down to where they waited. “Hold on love. Just hold on.”

Joseph had been informed that the dragon had returned but no one else. That meant aemond had come back but that was it. For now though he would focus on the dinner with max. He wasn’t exactly displeasss that it ended up they would be dining alone.

George helped get Aemond down once Vhagar was under control going wide eyed at the wound. He was surprised to see Aemond still somewhat breathing "I'm not sure we should move him far. We will get him away from the dragon, and get the maesters." He explained to her before helping move him.

Max came in after she freshened up giving a small sigh still in her informal robes. She gave a courtsey as she came into the room "I'm sorry for my informal attire your majesty, I was not expecting dinner with you." She explained before sitting a few chairs away from him. She knew her place, and it was not beside the king, even if it was just the two of them.

“No! No you take him back! Now. I will not lose my husband out here in the cold! He will make it.” She told him forcefully enough to be listened to.

He smiled and watched her. “Stop that. It’s just the two of us and we used to share a bath together.” He reminded her, taking a sip of his wine

George gave a small nod to her and got them to help Aemond down to the castle sighing heavily. Once they had him there he left to find the Maester's while they took him to their work areas.

Max blushed light pink and nodded some as she moved to sit beside him instead "That we did." She said before giving a faint laugh before she sipped her wine as well "Thank you for the bed."

Carmen followed the whole way, refusing to leave him. Part of her just didn’t trust the maesters here but she stayed to the side watching them work on her husband, feeling sick to her stomach. He’d got this injury protecting a country that had never truly welcomed him and people that feared him. If they only all knew who he really was behind closed doors they might appreciate him a little more.

Joseph smiled and watched her relax off. “I never did pick a wife you know. My council has been on my case about it for weeks.” He chuckled.
