The team had moved through the tunnels of the Tylsen Sewers trapping, hunting, and killing rats. The plan was going well rats were getting stuck in the spillways and canals that the trio had planted webs on making them easy targets. In addition to the trap kills running nearly parallel to Thea's team allowed Team Gaius to clean up whatever escaped the Lady Knight and her cohorts. Gaius had even found a blunt weapon in the form of a metal pipe to use instead of his sword to bludgeon the rodents to death with, however as the hunt went on Gaius began to feel more and more uneasy about the whole thing.

The first thing that caught Gaius's attention was the fact that when the group caught rats it was in groups; even more so that these groups were already in a frenzy like something was chasing them. Gaius cast off his thoughts simply as "The rats must be running from the other teams" however a few groups running in from a direction opposite from the team kept that thought in the back of his mind. The second was finding the occasional half eaten rat, again something written off as a coincidence but it remained in the back of Gaius's mind, rent free. Third was the event that was currently unfolding.

As the group started combing through another corridor Gaius and company stopped as a rather large group of rats began to rush toward them, Gaius himself barely got out of the way as the rodents zoomed past him. Now there was no way a group of rats had naturally form and there was no way this was simply their time to go out for a jog, something was chasing them. Gaius steeled himself as he turned his attention down the tunnel the rats originated from and waited.

Risax was the first to spot them, “What the hell?" He yelled as a trio of large, but rather emaciated, black dogs emerged from the darkened tunnel. "Someone has to own these dogs right? I mean if they were feral they would have attacked us? So any ideas guys?”

"You're probably right." Thal Answered, "Did we stumble into someone's territory?" Asked the large man as he began pulling his weapons to the ready "If someone does own these dogs, then there's our answer. Someone's been living in these sewers and scaring the rats topside."

With a annoyed sigh Gaius dropped the pipe onto the stone beside him and drew his Jian from it's scabbard, "Indeed, I'm also going to hazard a guess that if the Kreigslowe didn't know someone was down here then they aren't meant to be down here"

"Well, these mutts are between us and our objective. Doesn't leave much for debate really." Thal flourished his axe. "They don't look like they're gonna let us through with a please and thank you."

Again Gaius let out an annoyed sigh "I think your right on the money with that one Thal." With a quick flick of his wrist Gaius brought his blade to a low ready "Kill two of them, catch the third in the nets. We'll regroup with Thea's team and let the captured one go to lead us to it's master" With a practiced step forward Gaius entered combat mode beginning his riposte stance ready to impale the first mutt to rush him.

Thea Schuerer
Location: Underground, Tylsen

Exhaling a bit as the dogs seemed to accept her offer, Thea still had her hand to her sword not trusting the beasts at all, but their antics and actions confirmed her thoughts. Unknowingly having figured out the thoughts of Hyss, these were not just some mongrels they were war hounds. Something more was going on here than it seemed, something dangerous. It was then and without warning other than the pacing that the hounds attacked, one bowling into her and the other going for her sword arm, the animals were strong and in close, there was little to do, little to show the kindness she offered. Now there was only battle, only life and death, or at the least the chance to a serious mauling for herself.

With her weight shifted back and her right arm locked down she takes a middle ground one that showed the ferocity of the warrior. "Foul knaves! Fire cleanse you!" With that she knelt briefly to secure her footing as she wrestled with the dog, her armored coverings defending against the teeth as the dog fought to find purchase, moving her right arm downwards as she wrestled with the dog blocking the path of the tackler. At first in her rage she had thought to smash the lamp tied to her wrist against them, but reflecting on how stupid that idea was and how likely it was to set herself on fire, she in place grabs the lantern in her left armored and gloved hand with a couple attempts and presses the super-heated glass into the mutts face, along the snout and over its right eye as the tell-tell singe of burning fur and blistering flesh could be heard and smelled. She could hear her sword shifting behind her, sliding more out to the side where it would be difficult if not impossible to grab in any manner that wasn't as a makeshift shield, so for now she did not bother thinking of grabbing it as the lamp falls out of her hands to dangle back by the string.

"Don't just stand there!" She yells out at the other two as she attempts to stand once more.

"Well, would you look at that," Hyss said, as the dogs seemingly accepted the meat offering after checking it out. That caused the girl to lower her guard just a tad, as the mutts literally wolfed their food down in a moment.

"Spoke to soon," the snake hissed as the dogs launched their attack. "Ungrateful mongrels!"

She whipped out her weapon and changed its form from it's razor knuckle weapon, to that of a glaive. With a strong throw, she hurled Fangflake at the dog attacking her comrade. The weapon cut through the air in a buzz-saw-like spin, hitting the mutts flank.

However, that left her defenseless. And Hyss didn't wear any heavy armor like Thea. She preferred light wear for easy maneuverability. Which she employed to good effect just then, opting to swivel off to the side and kick the second oncoming mutt right on the side of its head, knocking its charging trajectory aside and perhaps into the muck nearby. That had been a dangerous maneuver, as her leg could've wind up right in the dog's mouth, but it seemed to have worked out. Still, she was without her weapon momentarily, so she wasn't out of the water yet. In that moment, Hyss realized she would've liked a way to easily have her weapon return to her. But there was no time in the moment to consider how to make that happen. Not while staring down the angry dogs.

Lucia Corinna Edelgarde

Location: Skaven Sewers
Lucia frowned a bit at the knight's response. So they could come down here at the behest of the guild to perform pest control, but divines forbid that something of actual merit arise. Best retreat to let the real adventurers handle it. She couldn't help but scoff a bit. It wasn't as if the noble blamed Thea for thinking that way or preferring to leave. No, she was more irked that, likely, the woman was correct and they would be chastised for digging in to deep. At least, digging into the wrong pond of sewer water.

"Ask for forgiveness—Or, they acknowledge us and give us an actual challenge in the future rather than offloading their chores unto us," Lucia replied with a scowl.

Watching Thea attempt to tame the beast with food, Lucia readied herself in case the beasts tried to retaliate. At first, it appeared to work. The animals took the offering and ate it. The Caskarieth relaxed a bit, her arms dropping somewhat from her readied stance. The air, however, became tense when silence filled the tunnels and movement stalled. Lucia was growing a bit impatient, when the first finally took action and attacked Thea.

Thea tried fighting off the mutt using her lantern while Hyss assisted her and knocked the flanking one away for the moment. Following up on the beast-kin's counter, Lucia bared the digits of her gauntlet and thrust it into the neck of the third hound. Thea had armor, Hyss however didn't. Best to deal with the one to their flank before moving to the front to assist. "War hounds or common mongrels, they are still but only animals!"

“yeah your absolutely right thal these mutts have to be the reason for the swell in rats.” Risax agreed with the orc a small nod following as the huge animals continued to block thier path forward Gaius was the first to ready his weapon properly already having quickly thrown together a plan in how to deal with the animals. He was certainly the leader type now wasn’t he?

”ok that sounds good you two have better manoeuvrability then me I’ll try to deal with capturing one of the dogs you deal with the other two” Risax replied softly removing the king sword from its sheath on his side along with pulling out a far sticker netting from one of the satchel bags it would probably Work to tangle or restrain one of them fairly well once it was thrown and that was exactly what Risax did After a few moments to allow thal and Gaius to prepare themselves the netting aimed at the Centre dog of the group in hopes that would work well enough to tangle it and provoke the others into lashing Out carelessly.

The hound attacking Thea shrieked in pain as the hot surface of the lantern was pressed to its face. But its vise-like grip upon her right forearm only grew tighter, Fortunately, Hyss’s glaive interrupted the attack before its powerful bite could do any further damage. The weapon struck the dog from behind before clanging into the walls and skittering across the floor. The blow caused the beast to tumble aside, before quickly finding its footing and turning to strike again, too embittered by the flames to give up on its chosen target now. Despite the burns on the right side of its face and the blood trickling down its side where the glaive had bit into its thick hide, the dog darted around to Thea’s left flank, going for her neck from behind, desperately trying to quickly take advantage of her kneeling position.

Meanwhile, the hound coming to assist in the attack was blindsided by Hyss’s kick and sent sprawling aside. Although its intent was clearly to join its packmate in attacking the knight and keep her outnumbered, the sudden interruption caused the animal’s gaze to zero in on the unarmed and unarmored snake-girl. While these animals had appeared well-organized and exceptionally trained a moment ago, these injuries seemed to bring out their true savage nature. With a low growl and a menacing glint in its eyes, it quickly stood up and shook the ‘water’ from its body before recklessly charging at Hyss. It leaped at her with its jaws wide, aiming for her throat.

Nearby, Lucia engaged the third hound by attacking its neck with the sharp fingers of her clawed gauntlet, denying it its role as a supporter for the other two. Their formation was now officially broken. The mutt shrugged aside, taking only a glancing blow which left three angry red marks along its flesh. The animal quickly coiled toward her, ready to repay the favor. It slipped in under Lucy’s reach, going for her lesser-armored abdomen.

The animals reacted quickly to the drawing of weapons. They seemed to have identified the arachnid as the primary threat, either due to his size or his armament. Although Risax unsheathed his sword and a net, these animals were clever enough to know a ranged weapon when they see one and immediately opted to close the distance. All three of them went straight for the beastkin.

Unlike their sequential attack on Thea’s party, all three hounds charged in together, with the largest of the three leading their somewhat triangular formation. They moved in a serpentine, helix-like pattern, randomly crossing one another’s paths, and twisting around or through anyone who attempted to intercept them.

When they arrived at the spider, their formation broke. Two of the hounds dodged to his sides -- one to the left and another to the right -- avoiding the strikes from his legs, while the third leapt straight at Risax, going for his unarmored neck and chest. This main attacker was almost certainly a diversion to allow the other two to flank, which is precisely what they did, leaping up from both sides in an attempt to mount the spider’s abdomen and land a fatal blow where neither his legs nor his human limbs could reach.

Razul made the situation worse by giving the hobo a coin, to which he threw it away. Falco on the other hand had the idea of explaining to him that they're a circus troupe, but the hobo was not convinced. Instead, he told the group to go away, but Falco insisted. For Sakura, she would have complied and leave the man to rot in his own piss and shit.

And then it happened.

The hobo had revealed his true colors and almost sliced Falco. The dagger that he threw bounced off his armor. Sakura quickly pulled herself over and has her arrow ready. "Falco! Razul! Cressey!" She called "Make him stand still! I'm going for his eyes!" She quickly moved back to safe firing distance as she waits for her mates to comply.

"Falco!" Cressey exclaimed.
Her blood ran cold, the moment she caught that glimpse of steel gleam from beneath that man's coat, followed by her comrade's body harshly being blown back.
She looked over, expecting the worst: a red smile staring back her, carved fatally into his chest, a look of mute horror as life slowly bled away.
Fortunately, however, it wasn't so; the boy had had just enough instinct to avoid letting the blade bite into his flesh, and had already recovered enough from the initial shock to scramble shakily back onto his feet.
"On second thought, Falco, don't make friends with the man. He seems like he'd be a bad influence on you." Cressey quipped, letting out a small sigh of relief that she hadn't realized she was holding.
How rude for him to scare her like that, the silver-haired fool.

With that momentary bout of mortal peril now out of the way, Cressey returned her attention to the far more pressing mortal peril staring her down, who was currently drawing a second blade from it's scabbard, detailing in grim delight his plan to make the sewer tunnel their shared grave.
To her, however, the man's idle threats were little more than soundless bluster, the squeaking of a particularly large, filthy rat attempting to make itself appear the size of a dog.
After all, a common, low-life brigand like him?
He had no chance against her, though he might prove to be the perfect demonstration of her skill that would finally earn her some much needed respect from her peers.
The hairs on the back of her neck stood on end, eager in anticipation.

"I'll thank you for having the courtesy of revealing yourself to us, along with whatever fiendish plan you've been breeding, down here in the dark." Cressey replied, a cocksure smirk forming on her lips as she leveled her spear at him.
"A shame; if you had just kept to your disguise, and let us through, we would have left none the wiser, hunting only for more measly rats, while you walked away unscathed..."
Cressey's entire body tensed, coiled taut like a spring, preparing for what was to come.
Adrenaline surged in her veins, pushing away the smell and taste of the sewer air; thick and muggy, though the pores of her skin still raised as if touched by one of the cold, cutting winter gales of home.
Her eyes, menacing, tumultuous, and blue, like a riotous storm brewing at sea, narrowed and focused, blocking out all of the unnecessary details around her.
There was only her, the man standing before her, the voices of the people standing beside her, the feverish blood pulsing in her ears
And the lance, held trustily in her hands.
Sakura's voice reached her, snapping out her out of her trance for but a brief moment.
Not to worry, Sakura, in but a few moments, he will be very still, she mused, her grip on her spear tightening.
"Unfortunately for you, You've decided to stand in our way..." Cressey growled in warning, holding her body up on the tips of her toes, knees locked, ready to spring forth.
"... and after dealing with these two idiots, I've an entire day's worth of frustration to unleash upon you!"

And with that, she charged.
Her spear trailing behind the rest of her body like a brilliant bolt of blue lightning as she rushed forward to meet her foe.
In mere fractions of a second, she would be upon him, mere inches away from his chest, swooping abruptly towards the man's left at the very last second with a swift turn on the balls of her feet.
"En Garde!!" she triumphantly bellowed, the only word of warning she'd give him before launching her spear skywards, poised to strike at the man's vulnerable jaw.

Watching the actions of her allies, she did not have time to offer them a hand, though the dog attacking her had taken a bit of damage but there wasn't enough time to stand, and the mongrel was getting to its feet, already trying to flank. Not enough time to draw, but there was an attempt for one last maneuver... This would be all or nothing as she reaches down with her left hand, Thea would pull at the cord that kept her scabbard hang onto the sword, batting it at the middle to get it free she tucks the blade under her left arm, held in hand as she turned to face the beast with the sword drawn at half distance or less, it's back end braced against the flooring, she had turned herself into a makeshift lancer, letting her sword become akin to a spear as she allows her right leg to slid out from beneath her and to the side in an attempt to impale the beast as it lunged forward, her scabbard just clearing the blade on the front end.

It seemed like the dogs immediately picked up on their intentions as they, too, prepared to fight. Before any of them could react, however, the dogs had made their move and rushed towards them. He raised his shield, ready to intercept an attack aimed against them. It wasn't surprising that the dogs were agile but Thal couldn't keep up with their speed when he tried to block them from proceeding past him. It seemed like their only target was their resident spider who does pose the most threat among them when it came to size. However, that also meant that Risax was in a lot of danger currently.

Thal quickly turned around and followed the dog that flanked to the right of Risax. He was just thankful that their companion didn't take up all the space in the sewers which allowed him for some maneuverability. As the dog was getting ready to pounce up to their companion, Thal quickly attempted to intervene by slamming his shield into the dog's body to push him back to a move open area where Thal could isolate and fight it himself.

The one she kicked had recovered quickly, turning its attention on her. Well, that was to be expected, even if it was unwanted. As it rushed her and made its gnawing leap, Hyss let out a hiss and expertly ducked and dodged to the side. The small girl using her size to her advantage. Shouting, "No way! Don't come near me mutt! I don't like being the center of attention!" Neither did she like being properly engaged, preferring to be the one attacking from flanks and just beyond view.

Well, maybe her movement wasn't so expertly crafted as she had thought. She let out another hiss, feeling the sting of the dogs claws just across her shoulder as she had ducked. But it didn't make her feet falter, as she swiftly dashed to retrieve her glaive from where it had ended up. Rolling to snatch it up in one swift movement. Now reequipped she glared back at her attacker and the scene. Fangflake in one hand and her other going up to press down on her shoulder. "Tssh.." She whined at the dull pain. Maybe she shouldn't have spoken up before, and simply had backed off like Thea had suggested and they wouldn't be in this mess. No. She pushed those thoughts away. Focus on what was happening now.

Before she let the pain really get to her, the snake allowed herself to move based entirely on adrenaline, quickly pushing off from her position and rounding around Thea. Trying to put the big knight woman between her and the other dog. She assumed (hoped) that the Caskarieth could defend herself. Once more she attacked the dog attacking Thea, thinking that if they managed to kill one mutt, then the three of them would easily be able to dispatch the other two. Especially if their "big guns" (Thea) were free. That was the little sneak's thought process anyway.

Using speed and momentum, she attempted a pincer attack on the dog. This time she wasn't going to throw her glaive, instead forming it into a sai like weapon held between her knuckles, as she was going to jab it hard into the dog if it avoided Thea's attack. Hopefully the dog was too focused on her to acknowledge what Hyss was doing. And hopefully she could do this before the other one was able to run around and interrupt her. She was also really focused on not getting stabbed by Thea's blade accidentally in the process.

The moment the putrid hobo tossed away the official Razul coin, the air of tension wasn't retreating any time soon. This was only affirmed when he opened hostilities at their group, even suspiciously revealing his knowledge of how many of the party had entered the sewers. The moment the man slashed at Falco, Razul dashed in front of him as though to shield any more attacks (although too late for it to matter). He even shot a wink back at Falco, telling him that he was under his protection. Then, the hobo's disguise fell apart.

For a rat extermination quest, this became much more interesting. "I see your play, now..." Razul muttered, not showing a singular sign of fear unlike the oh-so dashing Falco before him. The guild must have sent this man to test their perception and capabilities to handle an ambush—a truly exhilarating test!

Our hero remained confident in their beginnings of battle; more cool-headed than the other three. Perhaps, this meant, he was the hero they needed.

Razul could only laugh. The decorated sword emerged from its hilt; his cape flew up at the side, revealing the golden layer on its underside; he tilted his head exactly to show off the headpiece at the hobo. And, with a shout of, "Blinding Sun, Glorious Kiss!" it was though the dim light of the sewers intensified in the hobo's direction, surely blinding him for Razul's teammates to land their attacks!

Team Falco

Falco wasn't sure how to feel about Razul's and Cressey's eagerness to charge in. On one hand, he no longer doubted their courage. On the other, he began to doubt their wisdom. Fear motivated everyone differently. Some stood frozen in terror. Others could be spurred into reckless action. Razul took the lead, appearing as cocky and foolish as the moment he had burst into the guild hall, while Cressey charged in behind him, letting her spear guide her steps. Meanwhile, behind all the three of them, Sakura blatantly announced her intentions.

Goddess help us, that girl needs a lesson in subtlety, Falco thought, yet felt strangely relieved by her words. Her voice reminded him that this assortment of misfits were still the same people they had been all day. She was still the too-damned-honest country girl. Cressey was still the brash little brat with a Napoleon complex. And Razul... well, Razul was still Razul.

That meant they were predictable. He could work around them, with them, weave through them to do what must be done. The path was clear. And that's all I fuckin need, Falco thought with a wily grin. A path forward. I can see it now.

Frozen in fear? Spurred into reckless action? No, he existed right in the middle of both extremes. Danger sharpened him. He feasted on adrenaline. I'm in my element.

"Sakura, if you get a chance, take the shot. Don't wait for an opening," Falco said to the archer behind them, though his eyes remained firmly locked on what was taking place before him. "I don't speak for Raz of Cress, but if I gotta take an arrow to bring this guy down, no hard feelings." And, to himself, he muttered, "Better one wounded idiot than four dead ones."

Needless to say, Sparkles's attempt at blinding the man did absolutely nothing. The dim glow of the sewer's lighting offered nothing to work with. The hearty sound of the stranger's gutteral laughter as the Golden Boy struck a brilliant pose was almost an attack in its own right, a critical hit aimed at the boy's ego. "You really are the clown of this troupe, aye? he said as he lunged forward with the swift, precise steps of someone used to ending such matters swiftly, only for Cressey to appear at Razul's side. Or rather, the tip of her spear appeared, rocketing toward his face.

There it was: surprise. Falco saw it in the man's eyes for a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a second. Didn't see that coming, did ya? He's not invincible.

But it wasn't enough. "Wait your fucking turn!" the stranger said as the shortsword in his off-hand parried the spear aside and down. Falco launched himself forward the moment he heard the weapons make contact. There was a clang of steel as the stranger deflected and slid inside the reach of Cressey's spear and he twisted aside. His knee firmly connected with the girl's ribs with a sickening thump, forcefully shoving her back into the wall. He almost instantly turned upon Razul next, but Falco arrived just in time to keep the odds two-to-one, because it was abundantly clear that facing this man alone would be certain death.

He intended to use his momentum to land a swift strike, but the man blocked the opening attack from Falco's right dagger and parried the immediate follow up from his left, using only one hand. With his other, he counterattacked so fast the boy nearly lost his footing as he backpedalled away. Falco's feet slipped and skidded on the damp stonework as he narrowly avoided a swing that might have disemboweled him. He slammed into the wall, but quickly turned, ready to face whatever came next.

"Said I'd kill the fuckboy first. I'm a man of my word," the hobo said. "But I ain't said nothin' about first blood."

With Cressey to his left, Falco to his right, and Razul before him, the stranger was about as surrounded as they could reasonably get him. He crossed his twin swords in a defensive manner, signaling he understood his situation... and was prepared for it. Some might even say he was enjoying this as he slowly advanced on Razul, a position which would allow Falco and Cressey to properly get behind him.

"Cocky jackass," Falco muttered through gritted teeth. Either the guy really is this fucking good and wanted to get flanked... or he was way too confident and walking to his certain death.

Thea Schuerer
Location: Underground, Tylsen

As Hyss went off to attack the target that Thea was to deal with she exhales a bit and swings her blade away from Hyss, turning her body and allowing her right leg to slide, lifting it up and kicks the dog chasing her partner with a quick pull in of her right leg towards her chest then outwards at the diving mongrel, catching it in the jaw. No sooner than she connected she starts to spin forward dragging the blade in her left hand as it slides along the tunnel floor, bringing it back up and around and forward in her hands to allow more of the blade to protrude forward untill she fastens her grip as she reaches forward with her right to grab the dog by the snout, her left hand bringing the sword in like an oversized knife as she buries the blade into the neck, driving it through clean to the other side and severing the spinal cord.

Instantly the dog dies, laying there as muscle spasms continue for the remaining instances as Thea is now finally to secure her footing, kicking the mutt off of her sword.

Meanwhile back at the other two girls, Hyss would find herself the new target of the hound as she plunged her next attack into the dog, knocking it off course from Thea and dealing substantial damage, growling a bit even with the heavy damage it has suffered, the dog was still willing to fight, making a killing strike a necessity, Thea was already starting to turn, letting her blade fall more from her grip in an attempt to gain a purchase on the shaft, but it was clear for now that Hyss would have to do something as the best fought to its feet, blood running from its wounds.

As Lucia engaged with the dog that had been on the sidelines, stabbing it in the neck, though not just yet fatal as it snarled and snapped, biting at her wrist and hand, as useless as it was futile, but given the strength of the black dogs it was not wise to underestimate them as with time and force even the gauntlet could be punctured. Lucia would have to end this swiftly before the dog made more of a mess of things or got free.

Ok so Risax had totally miss judged the situation in the silliest way he possibly could have ending up with him attracting the attention of all three of the dogs that charged him rapidly Moving and twisting in such a way that Risax wasn’t able to get a chance to throw the net before one of the dog jumped at the beastfolk neck intent on ripping it out most likely Risax just had to hope the others could deal with two remaining dogs wherever they had gotten off to net in one hand he’d more or less open it up and swing it at the dog attempt to claw and bite at him the animal getting itself tangled up but not without leaving claw marks in Risax’s torso the large dog struggling against the sticky net falling to the ground in front of Risax As it only served it get itself more tangled. “Ok……ok…. Got….it.” Risax said struggling for breath due to the near death encounter he’d just had, complete ended up focusing on what was a distraction. He turned behind him to see Thal had knocked one of the flanking dogs back… but what the hell happened to the other ones?

Gaius watched as the Dogs quickly began their attack, as predicted they charged the group attempting to weave in and amongst themselves to make it hard for anyone to intercept them. With a few quick backsteps Gaius put himself over the pipe he dropped earlier, dogs paid him no mind of course running right past him to get to the back line. The first two Gaius intentionally let pass leading them believe their third would join them in the attack on Risax, the third however.

With a swift kick Gaius sent the pipe he was wielding earlier into the third dog's path in such a way that it couldn't simply duck under or move to the side to avoid it; the second of hesitation from the hound was exactly what Gaius was hoping for. With a flash of blue and silver Gaius used his much practiced "Duelists Advance" counter-charging the hound; before the Dog knew what was happening Gaius plunged his blade into the Dog's thick neck piercing through to the animals internal organs. The hound didn't even get to let out a whimper as the blade impaled it's lungs rapidly filling them with blood. Then just as fast as it had entered Gaius pulled the blade out using his foot against the hound's body for extra leverage which had the extra effect of knocking the hound off balance a bit.

Gaius watched for a few seconds as the Hound tried to desperately fight against the blood filling it's lungs it even tried to lunge and bite him a few times to no success. After the third bite attempt Gaius had enough, thrusting his blade once again Gaius pierced the dog's flank this time impaling the heart and putting the poor beast out of it's misery. Quickly retrieving his blade and flicking the blood from it and then subsequently wiping the remainder with an extra cloth. At the same time Gaius turned his attention to his teammates. Risax had managed to catch one of the hounds in his net but with a cost of scratches to his chest while Thal had bashed the other to the rear of the party. "Good work Risax," He called out as he moved past Risax and along side Thal. "Last one, Thal you lead I'll stop it from getting behind you"

Sakura took a deep breath as she focused her aim at the stranger while he's busy dealing with Falco, Razul and Cressey. By her own observation, he seemed to be a tough a veteran of sorts. She watched, fingers on her arrow and feet holding still on the floor.

Soon, three of her companions surrounded the stranger. He said that he would deal with the "fuckboy" that is Razul and he went after him, which would mean Falco and Cressey will go for the attack from behind. Sakura quickly shifted and fired the arrow. It went pass Razul, almost touching his cheek. The arrow is going for the stranger's eye.

Lucia Corinna Edelgarde

Location: Skaven Sewers
Baring her arm as a defense as the mutt lunged, Lucia fell back to avoid the beast latching onto flesh. The disgusting water splashed about, earning a grown from the elf as she took hold of the animal's jaw and snout with each hand to disable it from clamping down. Glancing over briefly at the other two, Hyss was still fighting and it seemed as though Thea had just disposed of her own pet.

Wrestling with her own a bit, Lucia wrings her greaves around the dog's neck and body, pushing up and to the side to grapple onto the ground. Now pinning the beast as it violently struggled, the Caskarieth tugged, pulled, and twisted until a sickening snap could be heard. Huffing a bit as her breath catches, she stands over the now deceased animal as liquid drips from her cloth, to her appeared disgust.

''Utterly revolting..." She growled, seemingly at her state of dress. The one thing she hoped to avoid in this blasted place, and the dogs had made sure it came to pass. Turning to the others, she presumed, or hoped, Hyss would too be done with her animal so that they could progress.

The dog had been successfully pushed back, splashing against the water of the sewers. Thal advanced forward while the others dealt with their own dogs. Risax seemed to have caught one dog and Gaius made quick work on the other. The dog recovered and was growling back at them— preparing another pounce. Gaius was beside him, reassuring that the dog wouldn't be able to slip past the two of them to try and attack him from behind. That was good.

As the dog ran forward, Thal met it halfway. He slid to a stop as the dog pounced, raising his shield and effectively blocking the attack. He pushed the dog back and as it landed, he swung his axe straight at its neck. Steel tore through flesh like it was nothing. Thal had swung with enough force that the axe had almost gone straight through the neck to decapitate it. He let out a huff as he tore the axe away from the corpse of the dog. Not even a whimper. At least it was one swift strike, leaving little room for suffering. "And that's that." He muttered, looking down at his axe before turning to the others.

"You all okay?" He made sure to ask first, eyes sweeping from Gaius who looked perfectly fine to Risax who seemed to be a little less composed. His eyes landed on the webbed dog who was still struggling in its restraints. "What do we do with that?" He asked as he sheathed his shield but kept his axe out just in case something else came down from the path.

In her vision, she watched as the big knightess took down the mutt chasing her. That brought a smile to the snake's lips beneath her mask. Just as how she was wanting it to go down! Now that she was facing the dog that was once going after Thea, she waited for her brief opening. The opening of it's own strike! It was obviously angered by what Hyss had done, and momentarily turned away from Thea to focus on the new annoying threat, growling in anger, or whatever other doggy frustration it was feeling.

But that was perfect! Just as the mutt growled and gnashed at her. Hyss darted to side, avoiding another nasty clawed collision with the dog, using her own momentum to add to her speed, and striking in an almost lightning-fast manner similar to a snake. Jabbing her 'sai' deep into the animal. Hearing it shriek in pain. The wail echoing in the tunnels. Hyss' attack was enough to dull the dog's reaction speed, and using her blade as leverage, she held back the frenzied animal, giving the knightess enough to time to spin back around and sink her sword deep into the animals vitals.

That appeared to be them all, she noted, as Hyss had eyed how the Caskarieth had just finished up her own kill. 'Phew.' Hyss stood up straight as the third mutt fell in front of her. With effort she drew her blade from the animal, and took a cloth and wipe off its blood from Fangflake. "That was good teamwork," she commented. Then winced and rubbed her shoulder, that was wet with her own scar from the battle. "Heh.. I still have room to grow."

"Now, should we head further in, to see what they were guarding? Or should we regroup with the others to see if they're okay? I'm worried about that other pack of mutts that ran off?"
Hyss asked the other two.

With the battle finally over, Thea turns away from Hyss, swinging her blade a couple of times to swing the blood away before pondering to sheathe the blade, pausing she thinks better of it, before observing their surroundings and nodding to Hyss after glancing to make sure Lucia was alright.

"Hmm..."

Shaking her head, she points towards the tunnels the dogs had taken. "The mongrels came from there.. However, it looks like we can barely fit, I could not arm myself and it would be very tight. I think you two could fit with little issue, but I don't want to split the group and we have no idea how deep those tunnels go. I say we should go after the other dogs, find Gaius's group and then follow the paths and try to find the area this led off towards. I'll set our webbing on fire and leave it at the mouth of this tunnel set so we can hopefully find it from the smoke on the other side, or this side if we backtrack. Unless you two want to go off there, I can give you the stone and trace my steps back."

The others has swiftly dealt with their dog and well saved Risax something the beastfolk was very grateful for otherwise he’d be kinda well dead. “yeah yeah thanks I’m fine by the way just some scratches… I’m really not sure if our plans going to work the dog probably just going to try and rip my face off again“ Risax would say looking over to Gaius with a half hearted smile, Thal Asking a similar question to Risax. However the though on what to do with the dog gave Risax an idea as it contained to struggle. “Ok we might be able to use the dog as leverage possibly if we find who owns it surely they’d applicate one of there… admittedly violent animals back?” Risax suggested leaving no room for extra input the huge spidery elf centaur loomed ominously over the dog pulling the last of the webbing from His satchel bags extra legs hefting the dog up as both arms and spidery limbs worked together to with great speed properly wrap and restrict the animal leaving it a slightly wriggling cocoon. “tada easy transport now lets move on I’ll Carry it”

Cressey
Current Location:

Cressey could see the fear in the man's eyes as her spear drew closer, inspiring the familiar rush of exhilaration within her chest that came with the prospect of a quick, decisive victory.
She could practically hear Falco, Razul, and everyone else applauding her talent, begging forgiveness for ever doubting her.
However, her celebration would be stopped short, just as her spear was intercepted by the man's blade, stopping it just short of piercing his hide.
No matter, so the bandit was a little faster than she expected?
She'd just dance away from his counterattack, and try again. She was still in control.
...Or at least she thought she was, until the man encroached closer, trapping her spear's handle behind his curved blade, and pinning it down to the ground, stopping her movement in it's tracks.
Well, that certainly would be a problem, wouldn't it?
The answer was immediate, and visceral; the sharp point of the man's knee crashing into the side of her chest, bringing with it a sharp stabbing pain, and a force that launched her across the tunnel.
She stifled a surprised gasp of pain through gritted teeth as the breath was torn roughly from her lungs, scrambling to keep her feet beneath her as she slid across the slick sewer floor, until she came to an abrupt stop as her back slammed into the tunnel wall.
She could taste blood and bile welling faintly in the back of her throat, which, combined with the nagging pain in her ribs, only deepened the vile hatred she felt for the man before her.
When the faint haze of pain dancing at the corners of her vision faded, and her focus returned anew, she saw the bandit cast off Falco's attempted attacks, much as he did hers, throwing the silver haired boy aside, before crossing his blades in a close-knit, defensive stance, inching closer towards his primary target with menacing glee, disregarding the other bodies that now surrounded him.
The condescending grin on his face was what really drove at Cressey's nerve, so reminiscent of Falco's.
Bastard! Cressey snarled to herself, raising her spear at the man once more, adrenaline and fury pushing away the pain in her ribs.
You'll pay dearly for that!

Defense.
The word buzzed in her mind, carefully analyzing the man's stance, looking for any sign of a potential opening, poring over the various techniques she'd learned over her years of training.
Overwhelming force was the most obvious answer. Though, pitting her strength against a fully grown bandit would be a rather poor idea, the nagging sting in her ribs assured her of that,
A coordinated assault from differing sides could certainly work; both her and Falco were in prime position to strike his flanks, and he seemed intent on picking them off one at a time.
However, that cocksure smirk on his face troubled her. Either he was vastly underestimating them, prepared for an attempted attack on two fronts, or both.
No, she would need just a little extra finessing to break through. A little something unexpected.
And she knew just the trick.
Oh, yes, that will assuredly work, she reassured herself, tightening her stance, preparing herself to charge once again.
Soon enough, she'd wipe that damn grin right off his face. All she needed was a little catalyst to set things in motion.
That catalyst came soon enough; the sound of a bowstring pulling taut, as Sakura nocked an arrow in her bow.
Just the opening Cressey needed.
At the sound of the arrow being launched, Cressey rushed forward, her spear trailing low behind her, coming within range a scant, few seconds after the arrow would make impact.
Once more, she fired her spear upwards, seemingly a carbon copy of her previous attempt to run her lance through the man's head, and end his life in one, fell swoop.
However, there was far more to her attack than what would meet the bandit's eye.
In fact, it served a completely different purpose entirely:
It would force his attention upon her, lest he hazard a surely fatal strike to his unprotected head, which would, in turn, give Falco another opening to launch an attack on the bandit's opposing flank, or for Razul to do...something.
But, there was still more to it than that.
Her lance flew straight and true until the very last millisecond, when her spear was but a hair's breath from touching the man's skin, when it suddenly veered sharply off it's course, twisting far to the side, as her momentum began to shift, carried on the very tips of her toes.
Her real goal wasn't just to create an opening for her comrades, or to critically injure the man, no;
The true, true purpose of Cressey's attack, was to force the man to raise his guard towards his head, a cleverly disguised feint designed to leave the rest of his body wide open.
With a small hop, Cressey nimbly strafed around the man's back, aiming for her true target, the vulnerable tendons in the back of the man's kneecap, with a swift, downward slash with the tip of her spear, gliding across the sewer floor like a bird in flight.

Location: Woodlands, west of Tylsen

The sound of heavy hooves beating the soft earth pierced the mid-afternoon air. Vivienne departed Tylsen at a swift, but leisurely pace, careful not to frighten or trample the townsfolk as they went about their business. But, the moment she passed through the town’s main gate, she broke into a hard gallop, rapidly picking up speed, until she was moving frighteningly quick.

The centaur raced out of town, traveling westbound for a few minutes before veering off down an overgrown animal trail, where she was forced to reduce speed. The path was probably invisible to most travelers, and even most locals, but Viv knew these trails well. As the sparse trees grew thicker and more dense, she felt she belonged here. Viv had grown up hunting and tracking in these woodlands. She momentarily wished she had stopped home to pick up her bow.

The path began to travel downhill, steeply so, and doubled back toward Tylsen. The trail dove into a gully, where it began to run parallel to a meandering depression of damp soil and silty mud, the final remnants of an ancient creek bed. After heavy rains, this place would sometimes carry water, little more than a trickle. But even during the most torrential downpours, it was but a ghost of its former self.

Here, Viv began to slow her pace, for she knew she was getting closer to the cave she and Cephilia had spoken of. Her sight and hearing sharpened. Eyes on the ground, searching for any signs of tracks, be they man or beast. Ears ready for signs of danger. A snapped twig. Boot prints, non-uniform. A log with its moss on the wrong side. Scuff marks on a tree trunk.

This alone didn’t mean much. The underground wasn’t widely known, but it also wasn’t entirely a secret. Rebellious teens had camped there before, on a dare. Kids had visited it, much to their parents’ dismay. Due to the maze-like nature of the tunnels, and fear of bears, wolves, and such, few explorers ventured beyond its entrance. And a small rockslide last fall had nearly blocked it off completely. Finding a few boot prints and evidence of ‘people’ around here probably didn’t mean anything… right?

Well, that’s what Viv thought until she arrived at the entrance.

The rock slide was gone. The centaur unsheathed her greatsword as she approached the mouth of the cave… or where the mouth would be, were it not completely sealed by a smooth wall of stone. Gone was the rockslide, with its fallen boulders, transformed into… this.

With a grimace, Viv trotted around in a circle before the impenetrable monolith, which was clearly the work of a skilled mage. “Skilled, but not smart. Could have at least made it look natural,” she whispered to herself as she approached the wall and gently caressed its rough surface. “Amateurs. Or, perhaps, they thought no one would notice or care.”

With a small sigh, she planted her ceremonial greatsword in the dirt, showing no respect for its gilded beauty. If this day ended in combat, she would not hesitate to cleave a man in two with it or bludgeon him to death with its blunt edge or the twin shields affixed to her flanks. She would do whatever is necessary. But, even for someone as physically powerful as Viv, she wasn’t getting through this barrier through brute force alone.

Location: Sewers (Main Level)

Even with the water-repellent spell protecting her from the putrid liquids in this place, there was no defending herself from its stench or the vague feeling of uncleanliness which permeated the air. Even on her worst day, Cephilia put forth a strong effort to be approachable, down-to-earth, and generally not snobbish at all, despite her powerful family's reputation. But, with every step into this foul hole, she felt a growing urge to act her net worth, declare herself too good for this shit, and leave. She could go back to her manor, take a warm bath, and leave these commoners to their fate. That's what commoners are for, after all. Her father would be proud.

The thought put a smile on her face. Yes, father would be proud, would he not? That alone was reason enough to continue. With every splash of her immaculately tooled metal heels in the mystery water at her feet, she could almost feel his disappointment growing. She reveled in it, in her own way. it served as a worthwhile distraction from her growing misery, but not distracting enough to cause her to lose her way.

The elf made mental notes of each tunnel, mapping it in her mind. Her pace was brisk, but careful, and her choices meticulous. The newbies had nearly a two-hour headstart, but she had the advantage of having been here before and a trail to follow. it seems they had plugged some of the drainage holes with a sticky substance. Cephilia immediately recognized it as silk and then, rememebering the arachnid in their party, quickly backed away from it, disgusted that she had dared touch such a thing. Surely, it was refined and washed prior to being spun into usable material, but still... ugh.

Soon, the distant echo of barking and howling reached her ears, as well as the voices of men, grunting and shouting. It was coming from a tunnel adjacent to her own. Cephilia unsheathed her clockwork rapier and began moving toward the nearest junction, but did not hasten her pace. Rushing never did anyone any good. If they had survived this long, they could last a few seconds more. Besides, hurrying to their aid might wound their pride as adventurers... if being sent into these sewers hadn't done enough of that already. It was meant to be a humbling affair, not a humiliating one.

By the time she arrived, the sounds of battle had dimmed, capped off by the whimper of an injured or dying animal. It sounded as if the newbies had triumphed. When Cephilia turned the corner, she found three of them conversing about whatever had just happened, the arachnid, the ovil-kin, and the human male. If she remembered correctly, these were the three older members of the group. She couldn't help but smirk slightly at that. So, the youngsters left you behind, did they? Maybe we ought to teach them a thing or two...

She said nothing for a moment as she walked into their midst, her slender blade held limply at her side. The spider appeared to be wrestling with something in a sack. Not until she got closer did Cephilia realize the sack was a silk coccoon --disgusting!-- and the 'thing' was...

"That's... not a rat," she remarked curiously, before turning her attention to its captors. "Anyway, good afternoon gentlemen... and spider. Thank you for the breadcrumbs, by the way. Clever of you, sealing off their paths of retreat. And it had the added benefit of leading me directly to you," she added pleasantly, with a slight nod to the arachne, before changing her tone to one more business-like. They were technically working for her, after all. "So, which of you is in charge? Status report. How goes the hunt? Any injuries, casualties, and where are the others?"

Razul's cape fell with a hint of disappointment. "Strange... that usually works." But no matter. This foe was not going to get the better of their team. Even when he kicked Cressey backed against the wall, or when Sakura's arrow brushed past his cheek, the hero still lacked a hint of fear. Instead, he fully drew his blade from its hilt in all of its shining glory. "Have at thee, foul lump of deformity!" Razul's cape seemed to billow with the action, taking a dominant stance like a shining knight offering a duel.

Whoever this was seemed like a worthy opponent for their test. Razul could already imagine the seniors' impressed looks once they marched back in victory! Before any of that, of course, they had to beat him. Just as Cressey went in for another attack. Razul yelled, "The Court's Final Act, Despairing Fate!" At a moment's notice, he slid across the floor and towards the man.

As Cressey twirled around the man, Razul stopped his slide just before his feet, spinning with a whiff of his cape that almost brushed the tip of their enemy's noise, it conveniently blocked view of Razul's sword—which by the time he could see it, it was being driven straight towards his neck with stunning speed and precision. It was an attack that Razul fully expected to the man to block (also meaning that he had no intent of stopping the blade from being fatal), and so the hero waited to see however he could parry and potentially immobilize him.
