This thread will contain the guidelines necessary for creating a character, as well as any character submissions regarding the RP "Tales of Raeligard".

While there is no limit as to how many player characters the participants can submit and use, it is recommended that they only take what they can and avoid having multiple characters if they are not entirely confident in juggling through posts between a multitude of characters.

To keep the thread clean and organized, any and all discussions regarding the contents of this thread shall be held through the discord server.

SUBMISSIONS FROM NON-APPLICANTS WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY DECLINED AND REMOVED.

CHARACTER SHEET GUIDELINES & TEMPLATE​

These guidelines will provide the necessary information regards the steps in character creation. Participants are highly encouraged to read them thoroughly for a higher likelihood of approval and be subjected to fewer revisions.

On a side note, as long as the necessary information is provided in the character sheet, it does not matter if BBcode formatting is used or not. Of course, participants may add more details if they so wish to. And in the occasion that they are an avid user of BBcode for its cosmetic purposes, they are encouraged to make their formatting easy to read and mobile-friendly.

When a submitted character is approved, the applicant will be notified via the discord.

• PROFILE​
  
  
  The profile is the first part of a character sheet to be seen - its main purpose is to provide a shallow, but sufficient perspective to the character. It will not be able to allow the reader to get a deeper look and a better insight as to how the character came to be, but it will unveil to the reader what the character currently is, in a very basic manner.
  
  The information that should be found in the profile is as below:
  
  
  CHARACTER IMAGE
  

  An image of the character should be provided in this field. In the event that the applicant is unable to provide one, they may opt to omit this field. Applicants are encouraged to use digital art and anime-styled images for their character's reference image - although every other medium is acceptable, the use of realistic face claims is prohibited.​

  
  NAME
  

  The character's full name must be provided in this field - their given name, their surname, and should they have any, their middle name, suffixes, and any additions. In the event that the character's "true" name must remain concealed for specific reasons, the applicant must first discuss such with the GMs in order to avoid any inconsistencies and possible issues.​

  
  NICKNAME / ALIAS
  

  Any and all monikers or nicknames that the character has gained should be provided in this field. If the character has gotten none, the field can be left blank or be omitted.​

  
  AGE
  

  The character's current age should be in this field. Unfortunately, the average age for a Kriegslöwe recruit fluctuates and cannot be accurately pinned down to a single number. On the bright side, the minimum age for a Kriegslöwe is 16 - which is believed to be the general age of self-sufficiency and early maturity. There is no difference in aging between the races, everyone is subject to the frailties of mortal life, and no race ages slower than the others.​

  
  GENDER
  

  Do not get political here. This simply asks if the character is a male or a female, nothing more.​

  
  RACE
  

  This field should contain the character's race, and racial sub-species if applicable. For example, a dark elf would be Caskarieth - Illieth. When in doubt, consult the lore thread and the GMs. There will be no custom races, custom sub-species, however, may be proposed and discussed with the GMs for approval and lore coherence.​

  
  RANK
  

  The only acceptable entry in this field would be "F Rank", as that is where every character will start from. However, as this states the character's current rank, it will be continuously updated in the foreseeable future.​

  
  HEIGHT
  

  To help the reader picture a clearer image, the character's height is asked to be provided, in both imperial and metric measurements.​
• PERSONAL DETAILS​
  
  
  Following the profile, are the character's personal details. This section aims to give a more in-depth perspective to the character, by giving the reader a glimpse to the character's past and painting a clearer picture as to how the character acts.
  
  The information that should be found in the profile is as below:
  
  
  APPEARANCE
  

  This field should provide a brief description on the character's physical features - how they dress, the color of their skin, the general posture, etc. In the event that the applicant has already provided a reference image in the profile section of the sheet, this field may be omitted. However, if there has been no image provided, this field becomes mandatory.​

  
  BACKSTORY
  

  This field will provide a glimpse into the character's past and present. It should unveil the character's early days, their key defining moments, the high and lows they faced, all leading up to their current iteration - which should be joining the Kriegslöwe guild, and obviously passing the entrance test. While the applicants are given enough creative freedom to make up supporting characters, locations, and historical events, these such things must only come up to a certain degree - it cannot be incoherent with the established lore, and cannot put the character in a position that goes against the "zero to hero" theme of the RP. As usual, when in doubt, refer to the lore and contact the GMs.​

  
  PERSONALITY
  

  This field is completely optional, an applicant may choose to omit it. However, should they decide to do so, this field will provide a perspective as to how the character acts - their mannerisms, their habits, their likes and dislikes, etc.​

  
  RELATIONS
  

  Yet another field that is optional. This should contain a general outline on the character's current relations to other characters, if they have any - what do they think of X-character, are they sharing a friendly rivalry with Y-character, and the like. Additionally, if the character has any relation with any significant NPC, it would also fall in this field.​
• CREDENTIALS​
  
  
  The credentials section aims to reveal the character's capabilities, to show what the character can and cannot do - what are their strong points, what are they bad at. Once again, the RP will be taking on a "zero to hero" theme, and applicants are expected to follow this standard.
  
  
  ABILITIES
  

  This field will contain a general overview on what the character can do, whether it would involve combat or not. Is the character a good negotiator? Did they have any level of experience in swordplay? Is their aim good? These sample questions should be enough to give perspective as to how this field should be filled up.​

  
  WEAKNESSES
  

  This field should provide a general overview on the character's weak sides - their fears, their detrimental flaws, anything that may cause harm or impede them from achieving a good result.​
• INVENTORY​
  
  
  This section will reveal what the character carries with them - the necessary gear they wield to protect their selves and others, the personal items that they hold dear, even random trinkets and junk that they keep in their person. Items that involve Manatech must be described in detail - how they work, what is their use, etc.
  
  
  EQUIPMENT
  

  This field will contain any and all items that the character wields and wears for combat and general use - their armor, their weaponry, tools, etc. It is recommended to give some level of detail to the description of such items.​

  This field will contain items that do not fit the former category. Sentimental items, random trinkets and junk, character accessories, etc.​
• ARCANIZER​
  
  
  This section will be purely for monitoring the character's Arcanizer setup - how many slots it has unlocked, how many Zauberites are currently slotted, what types of Zauberites are being used, etc.
  
  
  SLOTS
  

  This field will show in detail the number of slots unlocked, as well as the details of the current Zauberite(s) that are slotted in the device. An example will be provided on the template.​

  
  ZAUBERITES
  

  This field will list any unused/spare Zauberites that the character possesses.​
• TECHNIQUES​
  
  
  All practitioners of the art of physical combat utilize some sort of technique to reach a specific goal or achieve a certain result - whether it be a swordsman utilzing a specific manner of flourishing to defeat his opponent, a martial artist flexing their muscles to exert greater force with their fists, or an archer that positions their shot to make the arrow bounce. This section will contain any and all techniques that the character knows of and uses, and will describe them in detail - how the technique is replicated, what the technique does, etc.

  Appearance: Sakura stands at an average height with a slender build. Despite being a fox type beastfolk, her fur is silver than orange or brown paired with her white flowing hair usually tied into a ponytail and crimson eyes. Sakura prefers light clothing as she doesn't want anything that can weigh her down and make her slow, plus she thinks having some sort of armor gives away her appearance whenever she is hiding.
  
  Backstory: Sakuranbo was born under the full moon by a family of fox type beastfolk that specializes in hunting and are part of the Moonlight Clan of other beastfolk hunters of different races. Sakura was born different for some reason; she has silver fur than either orange or brown as the other fox beastfolk. There is something strange about it that her own parents cannot find out. Eventually, they assumed that the silver fur is a sign that she will bring greatness to her clan...or not.
  
  One night during the season of the hunt, Sakura gazed up to the full moon begins to act rather erratic. This turns to a head and begins to massacre her kin out of bloodlust. When the moon is covered, Sakura returns to her sense and look down on her bloodied hands and the corpses of her fellow hunters. She realized what she had done, but she is afraid to get ousted by her tribe once they find out. And so, she decides to cover up what she had done and lied to her clansmen about the fates of her brethren. She continues the charade when the moon is full and by that point, the clan is growing suspicious of her.
  
  Eventually, the clan had find out and they begin to hunt her down. Sakura makes her escape, knowing that she will never see her friends and family ever again if this keeps up. No longer part of the clan, Sakura is now by herself and must find away to break this curse before many more lives will be taken from her. All of this leading her to join the Kriegslöwe Guild.
  
  Personality: Sakura is kind of a quiet, reserved and stoic woman on the outside, but when you get to know her more, she is actually very kind and gentle person. The thing about her is her constant fear of letting out her berserk side when she looks at the full moon. She is always in constant fear of losing somebody, especially someone who is very close to her. Yet, she is very determined to break that curse of hers, in fact she is also very brave and prideful of who she is despite being a clan outcast. She can sometimes show a burst of emotion when she wants to.

  Takamichi and Haruna Suzui - Sakura's parents whom she lost contact ever since her clan hunted her down. Despite the disconnection, she believes that they're doing fine, although worried of her exile.​

  Chief Hakuryu - The leader of the Moonlight Clan. He used to act as like an uncle to Sakura and has shown to have some sort of favoritism around her before the news of her murders struck him. Now he is sworn to have her killed even though it pains him to do so.​

  Flora Gainsborough - Sakura's first client. She took up her commission on getting rid of her harassers from her flower shop and has since became a fan of hers, eventually evolved into her best friend upon moving into her household.​

  Tylsen Kriegslowe - As of now, Sakura has held a mixed reception within the guild ever since her actions from her first mission brought her infamy while her actions in Oyten had given her some earned respect. She also happened to find a crush on someone, which to her, as of now, is weird.​

  Abilities: Being born to a clan of hunters, Sakuranbo is trained to hunt down her prey. Being a type of canine beastfolk, she has a very sharp sense of smell and hearing, can move very fast and jump higher than a normal human being. She is proficient in using both her bow and her claws, though she would prefer to using the former more as using latter would make her remind of the atrocities she had done, or unless she goes berserk than she will forego the bow in favor of her claws and even her teeth.
  
  Having good sense of smell allows her to discern anything that is poison. She can also use it to tell if the food is cooked right, and she is a very skilled one when it come to it, at least outdoors. She is also capable of crafting tools out of wood and stone, as taught by her father who is a weapon craftsman.
  
  Weaknesses: Because of having a good sense of smell, her nose is also very sensitive to certain smells is very unbearable. The same goes for her hearing as high frequency noises can and will make her deaf. Other than those two vital things, Sakura has a really hard time to do anything at night under the full moon. She takes every precaution to not look at it regardless of its phase. If she is sure that the moon is not full, she can go with it. If not, then the people around her might have a bit of a trouble restraining her.

    Triple Shot - Fires three arrows at the same time. It is somewhat impractical due to the trajectory needed to prevent the third arrow to go low early.
    
    Howl - Letting out a howl has a chance to inflict fear to her enemies and as well as a chance to get them to run away.
    
    Arrow Throw* - A skill she had recently learned, yet still to be perfected. A precaution on case her bow is unavailable, she can throw her arrows like a throwing dagger regardless of form.

    Beast Mode - When looking to the full moon, Sakura's mind is clouded with bloodlust, turning into a ferocious beast that fights with as much pain as she can give. She loses her control and thought during this state and she cannot tell from friend or foe which can lead her to hurt anyone who is near her. Knocking her out or restraining her are the ideal ways to prevent her from attacking anyone until the moon is covered.
    
    Berserker Barrage - Delivers swift consecutive claw strikes.
    
    Maximum Fox - Using the terrain to her advantage, she leaps from wall to wall to attack her enemies from different directions.

  Stone Wall (Tier I) - After whispering an incantation, a hand is placed on the ground to raise up a wall of stone to defend against weak attacks.
  
  Earthen Forge (Tier I)* - Either by scooping some earth or sticking something into the ground and performing an incantation, the affected objects are covered in a very brittle stone reinforcement. Can be upgraded by either a jade or ruby zauberite to create objects such as grappling hooks, etc.
  
  Anti-Venom (Tier I)* - Cures poison after inciting an incantation while holding the affected person. However, this spell can only cure weak or most common types of poisoning.
  
  Frost Shield (Tier I)* - Creates a shield of ice either magically or by gathering moisture in the air then freeze it to form the shield. While handheld, it is more fragile than Stone Wall and fire attack can destroy it.

  arachne's are not an overly common species of beastfolk to see around more major population centres. mostly due to their differing biologies and centaur-like appearance but with a spider being kinda creepy, Risax Agben, Baromomath was the son of a silk merchant of the arachne tribe basically just selling high-quality fabrics for goods, a relatively boring job especially when you drag your child along with you. to while away the time Risax managed to get his hands on a hunting crossbow to just shoot little balls of waste silk at passing birds during the long trips back and forth. eventually befriending someone by the name of Herbert Hellregal, a young man whom was apparently an adventure that frequented the trading lanes, Risax happily listening to the stories of great adventure the man had. this gave the young arachne a longing to be like the man and not just a boring silk trader, so spending his free time training himself in what he though was needed to be an adventure based on the stories of his friend. eventually after a few years of practice, he left with his family and tribe with tentative approval of his father to go join the guild.​

  APPEARANCE: A rather tall young woman with fiery red eyes and grey colored hair kept in twin braids. Of a well proportioned, if not slim and toned build, she typically wears a collection of armored plates, a cloak and leather armor with a large Zweihander sword. When not in battle or deployed, she typically wears a blue gambeson or tunic with black tights and a long sleeved shirt. Typically she wears gold colored symbol necklace to the Goddess Aurelia, which she seems devoted towards. She normally keeps a proper and clean appearance but does not strive towards those of a proper lady as some may term it. No one in the Kriegslöwe during training had made note of her even having a dress.
  
  
  BACKSTORY: Born into a family of Knights the Schuerer family sounds like one born for greatness, glory, riches, service to the Nobility and proud traditions. Unfortunately, one forgets the tales of Knights of lower stature or the nearly landless Hedge Knights. In generations before Thea's birth poor decisions and poor harvests lead to the ever worse luck upon the prestigious, devout and honorable family. But Glory and past Honors do not bring food to a table. Living akin to the peasants around them, but with arms and weapons, the Schuerer Family would find members of it ending up as adventurers and guardsmen, the diminishing needs of warriors among the nobility robbing them of future chances or driving them to desperation to gain recognition. However the Schuerer did have one claim to fame in the form of it's use of massive Zweihander swords, in a style that they developed to counter armor, cavalry and the occasional mob and great beast. Calling the Southern Central lands home, it was a rural area with simple folk and the occasional bandit or other threat to disturb the mundane.
  
  Born into the family, Thea was not in a position to have a comfortable life, and many of the females in the family were also trained to be Knights. However over the years be it to mercenary work, marriages to more prestigious families or losses in defense of the hinterlands or even the occasional suicide, the family grew smaller. Thea was born to her father Ragnus and mother Emilia, with knowledge and occasional contact with Uncles and Cousins, but the only real central figure to her life was her Grandfather Otto and the local villagers and Clergy.
  
  Her life was fairly normal, minus martial training, at least when her father was around. In the years since she knew her parents had attempted to add to the family but with no success until one year proved very eventful. Her mother and father finally had some "luck" and her mother gave birth to a son named Janus. Internally Thea sighed in relief that the Schuerer family name no longer depended on her a heir had been produced. This would come to haunt Thea, even now. As noted her family would often take up adventurer or mercenary work. She would continue her studies under her grandfather and what school studies the clergy would teach, until one day her father did not return home. And then another and another.
  
  At the age of 15 and a few days past her nameday, the Kriegslöwe would send a messenger. While lacking in detail, her father's death was laid at their feet with a stipend of some coins and a message that sound all too commonly read and told. Rather than grieving she hated her own weakness, her lowering of her guard, her leaving this all to her infant brother. She cursed the world at first as the family situation worsened, but with the aid locals and the chantry, that hate soon turned into burning devotion. Studying under her grandfather, what little she was able and working hard aside from that, the following two years proved instrumental to Thea's development as what one might call a true Knight. With some of her father's things returned, she left the armor for her brother to claim when he was of age, gleaming and in full plate. She took up her own lesser suit, his holy symbol to Aurelia and a sword gifted to her grandfather. At the age of 17 she set off for the nearest Kriegslöwe guild base, to enlist with her meager talents, to follow in her father's footsteps... Partially. She was not going there to die. But to live, to rebuild the family name, to not entrust things to another that she could do herself. the Schuerer name would be restored, she would gain the coin and honor to help her family and she would walk in the light of the Goddess, man was left behind to carry the light, man was left behind to carry the burden. And so she will too. She would carry the great weight that she selfishly threw off onto a child that would never get to know their father.
  
  Recently with her time in the guild she has started slowly to rethink this position.
  
  PERSONALITY: Thea can be known as a model of a Knight, from her clothing to her stance, conduct and her weaponry. Often, she will carry loads or responsibilities others would not, a bit guilty over her father's death in atonement. Rather devoted to the faith her two most valuable possessions are her Zweihander blade and her sigil of Divine protection. She carries a bit of a standoffish nature to her personality at times and is known to have a very serious work ethic while being somewhat well mannered. Her motto can be summed up as; "Never ask others to do what you should yourself." However, while at first seemingly cold, or hard, Thea lacks the snobbery of some circles of the Nobility, having spent most of her life working among peasants. She believes in leading by example and holding to one's duty at any cost, knowing far too well what that cost may be. While perhaps unfairly blaming herself for the death of her father, Thea is rather pious and has very little tolerance for heretics, if any at all.
  
  It should be noted that she is rather ambitious and carries a respect for the elderly and clergy.
  
  
  RELATIONS:
  
  Otto Schuerer: Grandfather, a man in his 60's she partially finished her training under him and recieved basic instructions on how to complete her training into a true Schuerer Knight.
  
  Janus Schuerer: Baby brother, being he is a toddler and her own belief that she cursed her father, she has had very little to do with the boy and is unsure what to do when he is finally big enough to ask questions.
  
  Emilia Schuerer: Mother, a somewhat pious woman, she has sank into depression and pushes herself hard for her son, while she understood Thea's reasons for living she still prays for her daughter's safety daily.
  
  Sister Gabriela Steiner: One of the leading clergy in the closest village to the family "estate", Ivergrand. She taught Thea much about the faith and is responsible for what education Thea learned, such as literacy and mathematics. Thea has a strong respect for the elderly woman.
  
  Others: Thea has some friendships with the villagers and extended family as well with many of the local clergy.
  

  Spoiler: Guildmates

  Sakura Suzui: While the last mission carried some difficulties, the Fox-kin has shown some improvement, Thea has does taken a less hostile view, while she trusts her very little, it is clear that she is trying. Thea however lacks a willingness to correct her cultural follies, she has resigned to give the guilds "reform" a chance, though she keeps a wary eye on Sakura it is at least an eye that does not accompany a hand going for the blade.
  
  Risax Agben: He is more able to negotiate and has the tapering's of his past life as a Merchant. He was one of the few things that calmed the near disaster at the logging camp, for that she is greatful and while she respects his choice to end the job once he was paid, she was highly disappointed. She accepted his gift upon their return.
  
  Lucia Corinna Edelgarde: The two have had their ups and downs but Thea does consider the girl a friend, their fight led to a secret being shared between the two and Thea found the spar to be rather calming, fighting her under better terms in camp may be a useful stress reducer, provided they are in future missions together, if not she'll drag someone else into it. Overall, as things currently stand, she is one of the few of her Comrades that she actually does not mind and seems to have an understanding with.
  
  Cressey: While she seems to have an expensive spear and secrets of her own, Thea is concerned about what was hinted at in the meeting, the lancer may be more suicidal than others think Thea herself is.
  
  Falion Cauphix "Falco": Given interactions to this point, many of Falco's actions make her groan or sigh tiredly, but he has proven himself useful, next to Lucia she generally trusts Falco and considers him an asset in battle, still has the urge to treat him like a Temple Sister would when he gets up to his antics, but generally tolerates his eccentricities.
  
  Hysydice "Hyss" Maliss: Already having a bit of dislike for the girl given her defense of what Sakura did and outright heresy, Thea's views of the girl have further soured in the wak of the Oyten mission. Given the actions of that day, she begrudgingly let issues go, given her performance in the Esservine incident. While she may be useful in combat, Thea's dislike and distrust has only grown in the wake of the antics Hyss had gone into on the mission, she is suspicious of the reasons Hyss is here and of what sort of Kriegslowen she could be.
  
  Vivienne Yvarra: Has a good deal of respect and friendly relations with Vivienne and while it took a few days, she finally has gotten used to not calling her Lady Vivienne. Given her garments Thea suspects shes an apostate as well, but she does not ask to confirm, for if she did then she would have to have religious talks with her even if minor to offer the Goddess's teachings and rather not make another problem for her self.
  
  Cephilia Valdergeuse: Has something of a respect for the woman, has continued to respect the woman and considers her words against her actions, leading to a new conclusion about their time in the sewer. Over the last few days Thea has taken note of the armor changes or sheer workload the woman has done and believes the events that have be fallen them all are not the norm and that something more is happening, something related. She does not press the issue as her own rank is insignificant to help and words alone will do but so much. Plus, she expects that Cephilia would not share the truth. They do not need to know, till they do.
  
  Arien Bermille: Opinion of him is the same as the last few days, she's been trying to lessen the strain on the guild while she stays in the barracks trying to earn enough money for somewhere to stay, she is rather cordial and polite with him but they have not talked much. She actually seems to be one of the few people that knows him for his rank and carries a bit of respect for him.
  
  Kaira Zalketh: TBD, somewhat negative given she isn't even there at present. She is however growing a bit concerned that the guild master has been gone for so long.
  
  Xchenzaerys "Sen": A bit rough around the edges, but Thea respects her ability as a fighter and while not a model citizen, she has shown that it is possible to change from ones path. Worries somewhat for Sen's son, Marcel given his age. Still the fact she can carry him into battle shows how skilled or reckless she is. Has taken up training with her to improve her family's ultimate technique. She believes Sen more able to serve in this task, and she was proven correct.
  
  Endymion Aurelimere: Knows very little about him, on first opinion he seemed rather well mannered if not slightly odd. Then again who here didn't, including herself? From first impressions he seemed to be focused on magic. What sort of story was there she wonders.
  
  Lupa Kirstav: The girl seems a bit like her and different in other ways, older than most of the new recruits and wears the uniform of a city guard with markings removed. Seemed a bit friendly, but Thea is overall unsure of what to make of this one. Mayhap she won't be a source of stress or trouble for herself, something Thea has some misgivings toward but is willing to chance.
  
  Talio Ferrumanus: A merchant that carries himself like a battle tested veteran with the looks of one who has killed, in spite of his apparent disability. Seems to not be so eager to cast off his merchant roots as Risax, a bit of an inventive sort, Imperial. Thea plans to not treat him differently from the rest nor to confirm her earlier thoughts, may look at his wares.
  
  Lori Delivery: An excitable and ditzy seeming sort, given the tales that were told that night, Thea is unsure how well she will get on with this Beast Folk, though at least she seems able to meet her boasts and her offer of package delivery is one that Thea may take up.

  ABILITIES
  
  Trained in the Schuerer school of the Zweihander style of fighting, Thea is an actual Knight, lost prestige withstanding. Literacy, devotion to duty, curt and well mannered, she seems rather ambitious and will take on challenges and tasks given to her with a serious manner of being. Leading by example and for her own needs, Thea is capable of leadership or being a follower. With a solid grip to her fighting style she only has the means and the drive to advance, she is highly motivated to make her way up the ranks. If not a bit quick to do so.
  
  In addition the girl seems to have some skills outside of the sword, such as cooking, preparing animals that have been hunted, first aid and basic protocol to act well enough with both peasants and nobility.
  
  WEAKNESSES
  
  Thea while impressive in combat and able to function in society has a few areas in which she is weak. Of note she has never once been in anything more than a spar or breaking up the scuffle of the town drunk with no combat experience to fall back upon. With her strong opinion of the faith she will be unlikely to willingly use the Arcanizer to it's full potential in an offensive manner. In addition she holds others to the same standard as herself and is unforgiving of failure, with the potential to become a personality clash. Her strong faith in the Aurelian Church also means relations or negotiations with Heretics and Pagans is likely doomed to failure if she has any say.
  
  In training, while her use of the Zweihander and physical strength were impressive, she can be overpowered by a stronger opponent with more experience or a fast footed one that can get inside of her arc and in close, provided they are swift enough to avoid her counterstrike. Another weakness may be the fact that Thea will not stop short of completing her goals and duties when retreat may be the better option given her complex.

  EQUIPMENT:
  
  Plate and Leather Armor: A mix of plate and leather armor, it seems well made but a bit old in age and style. While not fully armored, leather protectors and gambeson lining finish off the basic design.
  
  Heavy Cloak: a thick cloak that provides warmth, concealment and protection from rain, wind and snow.
  
  Zweihander: It is unknown if this sword has a name, being nearly as tall as it's master, the blade is surprisingly light and well made of steel. The sword is just as dangerous to the one who holds it as it is the enemy and allies if they are not trained in its use.
  
  Shortsword: Recently purchased in the wake of her first mission for use as a backup and extreme close-quarters weapon, not too much is special or noteworthy of this weapon minus it is made with steel and enough care, could be found in any armory.
  
  Battle-tested Shield: A gift from Sen, a battle damaged and worn shield, it was given to Thea given her nature of combat, it is a simple round metal shield that has seen use and is made from Steel, Thea has started considering how best to use it in combination with her Zweihander and shortsword. While it may one day become an item to keep with the collections for meaningful missions, it still has use to see.

  Aurelian Amulet: While gold looking it is in fact made of brass. It does nothing special but has some engravings on it to the Goddess and provides spiritual comfort.
  
  Travel pouch: A standard no flares large belt mounted pouch. It contains some basic medical supplies, food rations, a rope coil of 12 feet as well as parchment and a pencil.
  
  Water sack: A container worn on the belt to hold water... Or other liquids.
  
  Manatech Lantern: Over the course of her adventures, Thea quickly abandoned her oil lamp, for fear of setting herself on fire and trusting in the magic of her comrades, buying a civilian product lighting lamp. Finding it more convenient and less of a risk to herself, though she's pondered making firebombs to carry in her kit.

  Oarman's stroke: A technique that was developed by the Schuerer Family in which one holds the mighty Zweihander like an oarman's paddle with their armored gauntlets to strike from a narrow range of movement with partial pommel hits, blocks and spear like thrusts. In a manner the movements and pose is akin to the paddling sailors of the great river. She knows the basics of it currently.
  
  Halfswording: A standard anti-armor technique in which one grips the blade and uses the guard and pommel to hammer an armored opponent with blunt force.
  
  Schuerer Brace: A family honed bracing skill to withstand and counter strike large beasts and cavalry charges, it is able to be done in two or three ways, with kneeling and the blade being position forward and using the left arm as support. The counter strike is what separates it from traditional spear and pikemen defense.
  
  Schuerer Strum: A charged up vertical slice, with the blade positioned behind them the swordsman leaves themselves open to enemy attack as they bring the sword in with a partial pivot of the body to bring the blade down with considerable force and power. Thea's understanding of the technique is not yet at the level of her ancestors.
  
  Began a training regimen under Viv. She is currently of a level to allow her to breakdown and through barriers and fortifications one would consider of improvised to basic construction that falls within her range of attack, as well as significant force to any beast or man before it in line with the first example.
  
  Additional training under Sen has focused on improving the speed of the technique to leave her exposed for a shorter period of time.

  Soothing Waters: A tier I healing spell, it makes use of the Lapis Zauberite to call forth holy water into one's hands. At this basic level it can cure minor wounds such as surface burns and cuts.
  
  Soothing Mists: A tier 1 healing spell that is an evolution of Soothing Waters, making use of a Jade Zauberite it calls for holy water into a mist that can be casted up to 12 feet away from the palm of her left hand, coating and soaking into a single target to heal minor wounds that reach inwards from the surface. Typically burns and cuts or gouges, while more effective in closing and repairing damage to tissue, its regenerative effects are rather limited.

  Born to a family of aristocrats in Raeligard, Lucia’s life was a bit pampered, if not also unpleasant. This wasn’t due to the typical pressures of study and other obligations, though she would also argue the dullness of those activities. Since birth, Lucia was only half a member of the family. She was a bastard.
  
  It wasn’t all bad. Her family could have ostracized and abandoned her, but opted instead to keep her and pretend as if nothing was awry. Though, this was more for outward appearances than to take care of her. Internally, might as well have been exiled from the household. She was given little attention, save for criticism, and treated mostly as a nuisance. At one point, Lucia did apply herself in all the aristocratic studies in an attempt for some recognition, though it didn’t take long for her to see that nothing she did would be enough to erase the invisible mark of corruption they saw her as.
  
  This in turn resulted in Lucia gaining a bit of a complex and beginning to act out. She started using that secret as leverage to get more leeway in doing what she wanted. So long as she concealed one eye to hide her heterochromia, the most notable effect of her mixed birth, Lucia could go where she wished and do as she pleased. Most consistently, she began using her time to visit one of her uncles.
  
  Her uncle, like her, was one that the family didn’t expect much out of. He ended up more martially involved, as an adventurer in the Kriegslowe Guild. It was with him when he was in town that Lucia would ease some of her negative feelings and stress through violence and training. At this point, the girl wasn’t training for a goal necessarily. It was just something to put her anger into with someone she felt she had a connection with. Listening to wiles and stories of his adventures, it was a welcome break from everything else. Of course, it didn’t last forever.
  
  When her uncle passed away and Lucia’s family was notified, their reactions were predictable to her, yet still enraging. Even gone, they criticised his decisions as foolish and his fate as to be expected. For Lucia, this was the final straw and she made her decision.
  
  She would join the Kriegslowe Guild and make a name for herself outside her family; one greater than her family’s. She struck out almost immediately, her family not doing much to stop her. It wasn’t that bad for them if she became an adventurer and faced the same fate as her uncle. Lucia, however, was determined to be the one looking down on them in the end.
  
  PERSONALITY
  At first glance, Lucia’s background makes itself prevalent. The way she carries herself, the manner in which she speaks, and her tone all reflect an upper-class upbringing. She is decently well-read despite losing much of an interest in most of her studies and has a sharp tongue that she isn’t shy about using.
  
  However, there are oddities in her personality that contrast the idea of a “noble”. While deliberate in her manner of speech, she holds much outspoken contempt for most obligations of nobility, seeing much of it as dull at the least and incorrigibly bureaucratic at the worst. She also, while a bit spoiled when it comes to things such as food or hygiene, doesn’t mind getting her hands dirty, especially when it comes to combat or confrontation. Even her choice of combat style is odd, opting for clawed gauntlets and hand to hand combat rather than something more “refined”.
  
  Lucia can appear a bit selfish and walled off, though she isn’t rude or cruel to others. Due to her own treatment, she is someone who is rather open-minded and bestows a certain level of respect to everyone she encounters, and expects much the same. Acquainting or gaining her trust isn’t too difficult, though her fully opening up is likely to take time.

  Thanks to her upbringing, many of Lucia’s abilities stem from her early studies. She’s well-spoken and has a sharp tongue, both in the sense she knows how to talk to people and that her words cut about as well as her gauntlets. She knows how to mix in with others, even putting on a phony face if need be. She’s also quite confident and ambitious, opting to figure out a path to achieve her goals rather than complain about an obstacle. Thanks to her uncle, she is also decently trained in how to fight, albeit it’s hardly an orthodox style.
  
  WEAKNESSES
  As stated before, Lucia is also a bit spoiled thanks to her upbringing. It isn’t at the level of being unbearable to those around her, though she is somewhat picky when it comes to food or drink and complains about some accommodations. Her ambition also leaks into daft stubbornness at times. Lucia doesn’t accept failure or loss very well and would much rather push her way through a disadvantageous position rather than acknowledge her own failure or weakness and retreat. Her upbringing has also left her ignorant of more mundane, but basic, survival tasks such as cooking and cleaning.

At this level, the counterattack poses considerable threat to light-armored opponents, though more armored opponents may find themselves stunned momentarily.

  Combo of Thorns - Lucia moves in, seeking to overwhelm her opponent with varying swipes, strikes, and kicks.
  Crippling Greave - Lucia feints an attack with her upper body before striking with one of her greaves, usually at an opponent's foot, ankle, or knee, aiming to cripple or impair them.

  Flammenwerfer (Tier I) - Lucia shoots out a stream of flame from her palm in a line in front of her.
  
  
  Chaos Fist (Tier I) - A risky spell / martial arts combo learned from Sen on the way back from Oyten. It briefly shrouds her hands in two opposing forms of volatile energy, which decay over time. If these energies meet, an explosion results. Landing a strike leaves traces of this energy on the target, which can be detonated by landing a strike with the opposite hand, in the same spot. Unfortunately, these energies cannot be seen, making it difficult to pinpoint where to strike.
  
  
  Vernier Burst (Tier I) - Lucia conjures a thruster from one of her limbs to propel her a short distance, adding force to her attacks or providing a short boost of movement.

  Appearance: Cressey would be described by many within the guild as a young lady, admittedly short for her age, with a soft face adorned with a smattering of freckles, and an ever-present furrowed brow. Her hair is long, blonde and usually tied back into twintails, with a pair of dark, navy-blue ribbons.
  Her fair complexion, and occasional posh mannerisms have led some within the guild to theorize some latent connection to some form of nobility, though she's quick to stamp down such rumors.
  
  Backstory: As far as the Guild knows, Cressey is a young, promising, if not a tad disagreeable lass, hailing from the rural north, who decided to take up the spear, and join the guild to fight the good fight.
  
  In truth, Cressey, born Cresslinde, was once the youngest daughter of a prestigious Valgemian family.
  Cressey was far unlike many of her blue-blooded peers, however; she was bored to tears in learning math and sciences, abhorred to be taught in proper noble etiquette, and loathed to ever speak of politics.
  She also could very rarely stand the company of other nobles or their kin, some of whom, she quarreled with whenever they met, occasionally even to the point of violence.
  She instead spent much of her time with her servants, whose company she found far more refreshing.
  There were many amongst her staff who were retired soldiers and knights, who enthralled the young child with wonderous stories of battles won and glory found, and in time, they were all too eager to train her in the arts of battle, which she took to like a fish to water.
  
  However, she still tried, as it was expected of her.
  And so was how she lived, learning lessons on topics she didn't care for, attending grand balls she had no interest in, and finding respite in practicing the spear and working alongside her staff.
  Over time it became quite apparent, none more than to herself, that Cresslinde was unhappy with her luxurious life.
  Always, there was something missing from her life; the attention of her father, whom was often too busy dealing with his own affairs to ever have time for her.
  She wanted more than anything to gain his approval, to prove herself worthy of his attention.
  And soon, her chance came, in a grand event held only a scant few years apart.
  And she wasn't going to let it slip her by.
  
  She was ready, had everything planned out.
  She stood before her father, her grandfather, her sisters and a grand audience containing some of the greatest men and women in all of Valgem.
  She was ready to prove herself before them all.
  But then, something went...wrong.
  For some reason, she couldn't keep her focus, mounting pressure and expectations preyed on her mind.
  Her golden opportunity, that which she had trained so long for...
  ...ended in pitiful, humiliating failure.
  
  Things only grew worse, as the night went on.
  She was later invited to a private audience with her father, the first one they had had in years.
  It was there, still stinging from the wounds of her earlier defeat, and burdened of a lifetime of neglect and callous expectations, that she made the worst mistake of her life.
  She snapped, all of her woes pouring out in a torrent of hateful, furious curses upon the very man she sought to prove herself to.
  She said many things, things a daughter should never say to their father things that have haunted her for many moons afterwards.
  And her father in turn, unprepared and ill-equipped, replied in much the same fashion.
  Eventually, their heated argument ended with Cresslinde storming off in a vitriolic huff, disappearing into the night.
  
  The next morning, a few of Cresslinde's more concerned servants ventured to her chamber, hoping to console her over last nights events.
  However, when they knocked upon the door, the only answer they received was a still, deafening silence.
  After several more attempts, to no avail, they burst through the door's lock, finding the young noble's room disheveled, her spear missing, and utterly devoid of life.
  Only a small, quickly scrawled note remained to tell them what had become of their charge.
  
  Cresslinde was long gone by then, aboard a small, humble ship traveling towards the land of Raeligard.
  As she docked upon the shores of a land wholly unfamiliar to her, she forsook her past life of frugal nobility, and started her life anew, as a lone adventurer, and eventually, as a Kriegslöwe initiate.
  
  
  
  Personality:
  Cressey is an exceptionally willful and stubborn individual, filled with an indefatigable determination to live her life by her own will, and do things her own way.
  She has all of the pride one would typically expect of one born of nobility; when met with a challenge, she's confident in her ability to overcome it, and has a tendency to get carried away when things are going well. It also lends itself in giving her quite a competitive streak,
  By the same coin, these same expectations of herself can also lead to her getting easily frustrated when met with a difficult situation, and being quite hard on herself in the face of failure.
  
  She is still rather sheltered, and ignorant of what life in the outside world, which is a source of great trepidation for her, and had led to more than a few mishaps, such as being tricked by a group of bandits posing as Kriegslowe recruiters, who lured her into a trap, and nearly made off with all of her possessions and nearly her life.
  Ironically, this incident is what led to her being discovered by the guild, when some passing guild members in the area were alerted to a massive commotion coming from within a house outside of town that had long since been vacated, and upon arrival, found several men inside beaten unconscious, and one wounded, and violently irate Cressey.
  
  She's usually rather serious, and her constant, stern glare, combined with her standoffish attitude, makes it difficult for some to approach her.
  However, those who have worked up the nerve to do so, have found that she is surprisingly amicable, and those more sensitive to those hearts around them, have noticed that she often seems lost in thought, contemplating some grave matter to herself.
  What it could be remains a mystery to all, and Cressey has thus far stonewalled any attempt to find out.
  
  Relations:
  
  • Nobility: Cressey has a rather cynical view towards those of noble birth, or those who simply act nobly, believing many of them to be arrogant, pompous, self-serving and self-absorbed. This, of course, stems from her own experience Interacting with other nobles.
    • Conversely, she far preferred the company of her own servants. Many of whom were her dearest friends and confidants. She often still thinks of them.
  • Kriegslöwe: Despite the outward attitude Cressey may exhibit, she greatly respects the Kriegslöwe guild, it's code, and most of all, it's members. The fact that nearly anyone, regardless of birth or privilege could join, and rise the ranks to become a hero, is quite inspirational to her.
  • Her family: She would prefer you didn't ask.
    • She has no plans to see them ever again...at least, not at the moment
    • Maybe one day, when she's stronger...when she can prove herself...only then could she face them.

  Vivienne Yvarra: A-rank guild member who greeted Cressey on her first day at the guild, and taught her some new techniques.
  Kind-hearted, capable, and perhaps a touch overbearing.
  
  Cephilia Valdergeuse: An S-rank guild member, who gave Cressey her first task at the Kriegslowe guild, and taught her how to use her arcanizer.
  A fellow Valgemian noble, Cressey has an innate distrust towards the Caskaerith, and her presence is usually enough to put her on guard.
  Aside from that, she makes it far too obvious that she can't be bothered to care for anything aside from her machines, and Cressey often finds her self-important, long-winded lectures tiresome.
  
  Arien Bermille: The guild receptionist.
  A man with next to no presence, if someone replaced him with a plank of wood, Cressey would probably go the entire day without noticing.

  Gaius Karlings: An old man, with some rather impressive skill with a blade.
  On more than a few occasions, she's caught him looking at her, silently fretting as if she were some small, lost child.
  She can't really bring herself to hate him for it, however, he reminds her too much of her dear grandfather.
  Foolish old man, she'll prove herself a warrior to him, yet!
  
  Razul Dazzle: Perhaps the biggest fool Cressey has ever met.
  Who on earth would want to be a nobleman, let alone pretend to be one!?
  Although, she can't help but respect how earnest she is, and envy how she's able to frolic and galivant about so shamelessly.
  Perhaps, once in a few blue moons, Cressey may have...indulged herself in practicing a few poses of her own, in secret.
  
  Thalgrukh: One of the first ovilkin Cressey has ever spoken to.
  His imposing size and fierce appearance belies his congenial, mild-mannered attitude.
  He's also shown himself to be quite reliable, both in a fight, and at being one of the few level-headed voices of reason within the group.
  
  Sakura Suzui: An exotic beastkin, whom helped Cressey bring down a powerful foe during their first mission in the Tylsen sewers.
  Despite some of her...eccentricities, Cressey is grateful to her for her aid.
  
  Risax Agben: One of the more bizarre members of the group, Risax is both a capable fighter, as well as a naturally talented weaver.
  Though she's no professional seamstress, Cressey does have some basic knowledge of how to work a needle and thread.
  Perhaps she could learn a thing or two from him?
  
  Thea Schuerer: Strong, tall, and stalwart, Thea is just about everything that comes to mind when Cressey imagines the word "Knight."
  Though they do share a faith in the goddess, Cressey finds Thea to be bit too....sanctimonious at times, which makes her prefer her company in small doses.

  And the fact that the goddess chose to gift her with such long, gallant, beautiful legs.

  Lucia Edelgarde: A mysterious caskaerith, whom Cressey has had little opportunity to get acquainted with.
  What she does know, however, is that they share a common inclination for not divulging their pasts, and hating those of noble birth.
  Which makes her a good enough fellow in her book.
  
  Falion Cauphix: An absolutely insufferable, braggadocios lout, and a source of endless migraines for Cressey.
  He's rude, speaks too much, listens too little, and is overall, a selfish boor.
  And yet, Cressey finds something oddly refreshing in how fresh and real he can be, and how she can speak with him so freely, without any concern for decorum.
  Perhaps if he tried learning some manners and got a haircut, he'd finally be able to get a maiden to take his hand?
  
  Hysydice Maliss: A rather peculiar beastkin.
  Cressey has had several encounters with her during her duties cleaning the guild halls, accidentally stumbling upon her in some odd shadow, or hidden crevice.
  She's since redoubled her efforts in keeping the countless nooks and crannies of the guild clean and free of any spiders or cobwebs, for her sake.
  
  Morgan Cromwell: An old friend.
  Someone who she never expected to see again.

  Abilities:
  Trained by an elite cabal of retired soldiers turned house servants, Cressey's technical expertise with a spear is second to none among her peers as a Kriegslowe initiate, and her small, nimble frame makes her an excellent skirmisher on the field of battle.
  Her greatest strength, however, is her unyielding determination; situations that would make others, even those more experienced and tested in the heat of battle, cower in fear, only serve to embolden her spirit, fueled by her noble pride, and her own stubborn refusal to back down from a challenge.
  Surprisingly, she's also quite a skilled housekeeper, and can often be counted on to assist the guild staff in their duties, should they work up the nerve to ask.
  ...Just be wary of putting her on kitchen duty.
  
  Weaknesses:
  Though she may have her life of nobility behind, she did not leave behind her noble pride, which when combined with her own naturally bull-headed attitude, can lead to her making rather rash, foolish decisions, overestimating her own abilities, and getting easily frustrated.
  This pride, however, is but a symptom of an even greater flaw lurking within the child; a litany of expectations that range from lofty to unrealistic, which she carries with her always; born from family, friends and comrades of her past and from a society that values merit above all else. Most damning of all, are those expectations she has set for herself; which range from lofty, to completely unfeasible.
  She's hard on herself when she fails to meet these goals, and even harder in the face of failure, which, at times, can lead to her getting discouraged.
  
  Although, as a noble, she is relatively well-studied (though it's questionable how much of her learnings have managed to stick with her), until very recently, Cressey has never seen the outside world, and at times, can be caught off-guard by the ways of life outside of those castle walls.
  This extends in some ways to her fighting style; being used to formal duels and spars, wrought with rules and regulations not found in a wild environment.

  Inventory:
  
  • Ptarmigan Lance: A long, lance forged from Valgemian mithril, and gilded with fine brass. It's rounded shape can deflect the fatal blows aimed at it's wielder, while it's needle-like point can return with some of it's own. A strange trait of Valgemian mithril that Cressey has found; it's a surprisingly effective conductor.
  • Parula Armor: A light set of armor built with maximum ease of movement in mind. Thick, leather and brass-toed boots protect the legs, while leather gauntlets, coated in sturdy iron, protect the arms. A bracer-type Arcanizer has also been fitted to the right gauntlet, allowing for the use of zauberites.
  • Traveler's bag: A satchel packed before her sudden departure. Filled with essential supplies, and valuable keepsakes.
    • Included in the bag:
      • A small coin purse. Once full, most of it was bartered away to some rather shady characters in exchange for a discreet, one-way voyage to Raeligard
      • A few spare changes of clothing, Including sleepwear.
      • A set of small satchets, filled with various potpourris made from the vibrant and exotic herbs grown by the ever-jubilant Head Gardner, Carmella. One whiff soothes the mind, bringing back blissful memories of afternoons helping tend to the castle gardens.
      • A few annotated pages of cooking recipes for some of Cressey's favorite treats. She'll dearly miss Chef Flareze's expert cooking skills, one day she might be able to replicate them ...without completely destroying the kitchen.
  • Red scarf: A warm, comfortable, woolen scarf, given to Cressey in the dead of night by Head Maid Beatrix, just before her hasty departure. Every stich was threaded with tender love and care.
  • Royal Regalia: A pair of sterling silver earrings, and matching choker, fashioned into an iron cross. Her mother gifted them to her at a young age. Although they're one of the last vestiges of her old life, Cressey can't bring herself to get rid of them.

  • Gyrfalcon Offensive: A high-speed hit-and-run tactic Cressey commonly utilizes, using her natural footwork to overwhelm opponents with blistering speed, delivering light, compact stings with her lance, before dancing away, just out of her foe's reach. Eventually, whether out of sheer frustration or in a desperate attempt to halt her growing momentum, her opponent may be forced to overextend themselves, throwing out wide, predictable swings, which Cressey can capitalize on, dodging or deflecting their blows, and then delivering a decisive strike of her own, before retreating away once more, starting the process anew.
    • Alternatively, Cressey may switch to plan B, should her opponent be particularly defensive or resilient: Hitting them very hard
  • Harrier Parry: A technique learned through rigorous training with Vivian, the bulwark of the Tylsen guild hall, inspired by a maneuver utilized by an unexpectedly worthy foe fought in the city sewers.
    • For attacks that can't be avoided by some fleet footwork, or to create an opening on an unsuspecting, overzealous opponent. Cressey plants her feet, and assumes a defensive stance with her spear, anticipating an enemy's attack. Upon seizing an opportunity, Cressey can aim to utilize her lance to forcefully wrench her opponent's weapon out from their grasp, respond with a counterattack of her own, or, with the help of an arcanizer, punish her foes with a shocking retribution.
  • Tempest Thrust: Cressey's usual method of finishing off opponents, or breaking through their defenses. Planting her feet, Cressey twists nearly her whole body, throwing her entire weight into one, singular drill-like thrust.
    • Lightning Thrust: A combination of Cressey's Tempest Thrust, enhanced by her lightning magic. Fires a more concentrated, far-reaching beam of energy from the tip of her lance.

  • Lesser Surge (Tier I): After briefly focusing her will upon the wandering motes of photons and ions travelling through the air, Cressey can align them to create a small, short-lived electric charge. Objects capable of conducting electricity can be imbued with this charge, giving them a small, brief modicum of power, that tingles at the fingertips.
  • Shockwave (Tier I): With a swing of her lance, Cressey can generate a short-range, compact blast of electricity in a wave before her, strong enough to burn the flesh, and paralyze the muscles.
  • Tailwind (Tier I): Cressey manipulates the air currents around her to give an advantage to both herself, and her comrades, creating a prevailing air current that blows forward in a singular direction of her choosing. Lasts 1-2 minutes.

  Appearance:
  

  Small in stature, but with a lean, toned build and a voice that's deeper than you'd think, but "still kind of sounds like a bitch," according to his friends. Tends to wear dark clothing, not to be edgy, but because it washes easily. His white-blonde hair is a disheveled mess, often tucked away under a hood, and his pale green eyes have a mischievous glint in them, which matches the sly smirk plastered on his face, as if everything's cosmically funny but he's too cool to laugh. Despite his (lack of) height, he has a distinct swagger and presence. Falco appears comfortable --perhaps a little too comfortable-- in his own existence, without needing to announce or draw attention to himself. His collar is permanently popped, his hands buried deep in his pockets, and his posture slouches to invertebrate levels of liquidity, as if giving a fuck requires herculean effort and he's just not feelin' it today, never has, and never will.​

  
  Backstory:
  

  Falion's memories of his early childhood are shaky, at best. He was born to a pair of poor cascarieths, in a small town. He had no idea what his alleged parents allegedly did for a living, but it must not have been going well. They argued about money all the time and even his young eyes could see their fear and paranoia. Meager meals. Spartan living. Frequently moving from place to place, often at night. Rough-looking men visited at ungodly hours, exchanging sacks of coin and speaking in hushed voices.
  
  When his father was away, his mother taught him things a young boy should know, like how to pick locks, how to spot a mark, and how to slip his hand into someone's pockets unnoticed. None of this seemed unusual or wrong to him until the day it all came to an abrupt and tragic end. His mother died clutching him in her arms, a bloody arrow embedded in her chest. To this day, he's not sure if she was hugging him in her final moments or trying to use him as a human shield.
  
  He remembers a golden lion crest glinting in the firelight as her killer stepped over his father's still-warm body and wordlessly checked his mother’s pulse. The next thing he knew, Falion was in a carriage with a bunch of other kids, some weeping, some wide-eyed and silent. As they rode away into the night, a priest and a guard spoke to them in soft tones. Something, something, "you're safe now." Something, something, "orphanage." Something, something, "they won't hurt you again."
  
  He was only eight years old when he was delivered to a church-owned orphanage, with the other brats. All he knew was his parents were gone and he had to be strong now. Their only crime was getting caught. He would do better, so no crying and bitching and moaning like the others. Naturally, he became something of a ringleader, mostly because his attitude singled him out. For the next couple of years he was an absolute menace to the clergy, always scheming, always up to no good.
  
  But it couldn’t last. The more well-behaved children found homes. Even the ones who tried to follow his terrible example eventually drifted away. He found himself all alone, a single bad apple that had tumbled too far from the tree. The fathers and sisters of the church were the closest thing he had to parental figures, but most of them seemed to think he was beyond redemption. Instead of looking him in the eyes and doing something about his behavior, they prayed. That’s all they ever did, pray… except for one man.
  
  Falion sometimes disappeared from the orphanage for days, melding into the dark corners of the city. And every time, Father Bernard tracked him down. Be it a drug den, a brothel, or a dice match in a back alley, the gray-haired priest would show up. Sometimes he’d sit Falion down and they’d chat for a few minutes. Sometimes they didn’t even speak. He’d see Bernard’s face in the crowd, the old man would smile, and then leave. But every time, Falion would come skulking back to the orphanage. Just knowing one person gave a damn was enough.
  
  Despite his rebellious behavior, something within him began to change. Falion still stole, but he’d share his spoils with the other kids now. He still got into fights, but now it was to protect others. Eventually, Father Bernard was called upon to lead a much bigger church in Achelreide and Falco talked the old man into letting him tag along. He had been thinking on it for a while and made up his mind that he’d join the guild that had killed his parents.
  
  He was twelve when he arrived in Achelreide, still too young to become a Kriegslowen, so Falion began building up his skills. He was in a big city now, where opportunities were endless. He bounced from job to job, going anywhere a little extra help was needed, scrounging together enough cash to buy or make cheap weapons or armor. Butcher, baker, blacksmith’s apprentice… he always found a way to sweet-talk himself into a gig and (usually) managed to not fuck it up for a few weeks or months. He made more friends than enemies in Achelreide and eventually felt ready to approach the guild and be properly tested.
  
  Falion was soundly defeated and beaten to a pulp on the steps of Kreigslowe’s Achelreide guild hall. He limped home to lick his wounds and returned for another round a few weeks later… and then another and another and another. Somewhere in the midst of getting his shit pushed in on a bi-weekly basis, he let slip that he was only fourteen years old, well below the guild’s age requirement, and they refused to ‘test’ him anymore.
  
  Much to their annoyance, the boy continued to show up and hurl challenges and taunts at the adventurers there until eventually one of their members let slip the truth: they never had any intention of letting “someone like you” join. The man didn’t have to explain what that meant, nor did Falco give him a chance to try. In a fit of rage, Falco launched himself at the B-ranked adventurer and was nearly killed. He awoke at the church days later and that was the last time he ever set foot in the Achelreide guild hall.
  
  Undeterred, Falco recovered and decided to change tactics. If he was going to get into Kriegslowe, he needed to go somewhere he didn’t have a reputation, preferably somewhere the adventurers aren’t assholes. He had heard good things about the Tylsen branch, so he set to work building himself up again, training, working, saving up his money. A few months after his sixteenth birthday, he bid farewell to Achelreide and hitched a ride to Tylsen… where he was once again beaten into the ground.
  
  But, as he lay face-down in the dirt, a hand was extended to him. “You’re in, kid.”

  
  Personality:
  

  Definitely an extrovert. Falco always has an opinion and does not hesitate to share it, often in the most colorful way imaginable. Flirts with the pretty girls. Talks shit at his rivals. Picks fights with people who are being assholes. And is quick to hand out compliments, too, to show his respect. No one has to guess where he stands or what he's thinking. His tendency to run off at the mouth means most people --love him or hate him-- at least trust him, because they always know where his heart is.
  
  Street-smart and confident, he's down for virtually anything, because whatever stupid thing needs doing, he's probably done it before and wants another crack at it. The school of hard knocks has made him a scrappy guy, ready and willing to take on challenges he has no business tangling with, but hasn't quite made him cold or overly pessimistic. He's been laid on his ass enough times that he just doesn't care about failure and will eagerly charge into danger. Life's short and we're here for a good time, not a long time. He seems most alive when the stakes are highest.​

  
  Relations:
  

  Father Bernard: the closest thing Falco has to a father figure. Patient and wise, he runs a church in Achelreide. Despite being a devout man of faith, he’s known for being more accepting than most clergy and unafraid to reach out to ‘wayward’ souls.
  
  Morris "The Mountain": A violent B Rank Kriegslowen from the guild's Achelreide branch and the main reason Falco chose to ditch that place. Falco totally plans to go back and fuck that guy up someday. Life goals.
  
  Sylvas: A dark elf archer and A Rank Kriegslowen. Falco has never met her but, based on what he’s heard, is fairly sure she is the one who killed his parents. Despite telling himself he has no ill will toward her, Falco isn't really sure what he would do if they ever cross paths.
  
  Tylsen Kriegslowen: Falco has been in Tylsen for a little over a year now and gotten to know most of the guild staff and regulars, despite only passing the test two weeks ago.​
• CREDENTIALS​

  Abilities:
  

  Falco is extremely practical, forgoing useless things like honor and ethics in favor of pragmatism. Simple problems require simple solutions. Lives by his own code, which pretty much boils down to "loyalty to your friends and fam, everybody else can get fucked," which causes him to take unconventional approaches to obstacles. To that end, he has taught himself lockpicking, pickpocketing, pursecutting, and some legerdemain. It's only illegal if you get caught, right? And when he does, he's as slick with his words as with his hands. He's very comfortable in urban settings, especially the darker sides of city life, and plans to specialize in quests there, such as finding missing persons or breaking up crime rings. Takes a thief to catch a thief... not that he's a thief or anything.​

  
  Weaknesses:
  

  Greed and a bad habit of not knowing when to quit are his biggest weaknesses. Falco likes to "punch up," and is always looking for the next giant to topple, be it a local bully, a new mark to rob, or just someone who looked at him funny or said something that rubbed him the wrong way. Confidence and keeping up a strong front is what has kept him alive this far, but also leads to a tendency to overplay his hand. Falco's the type of guy who will talk his way out of one problem and into a much, much bigger one, leading to an almost comical tendency to dance from crisis to crisis. This habit gets a lot worse if he's trying to impress a girl he likes. He's very reliant on level-headed friends to keep his ambitions in check. Furthermore, his urban lifestyle has left him very ill-equipped to handle survival in the wild. Hunting and foraging are totally foreign to him.​

  Daggers: A pair of identical daggers, which serve as his primary weapons. He saved for months to afford them. There's nothing special about them, other than their grips, which have a segmented guard, similar to knuckle dusters, allowing him to maintain use of his hands while wielding them.
  
  Knives: An assortment of knives, "borrowed" from various places. Falco keeps lots of stabby things on him, from kitchen knives, to hunting knives, to improvised shivs and shanks. It is not uncommon for him to pull one (or more) out and twirl them around when he's got nothing better to do. He discarded some of the less-appropriate ones (i.e butterknives and silverware) during his first mission, where he stole acquired some actual throwing knives from a slain bandit.
  
  Armor: Falco's main armor is an overshirt of smoke-blackened scalemail, acquired from a slain assassin. It appears to have been of high quality once, but is quite worn and slightly too lage for him. He often wears it over his hooded tunic, like a jacket. His old leather armor has been cut and sewn into patches to protect his thighs and act as grieves, ensuring his lower body is marginally protected as well.​

• TECHNIQUES​
  Daring Flow - A combination of good instincts, quick feet, and a habit of pissing off people who are waaaaay too fucking big has taught Falco how to dodge and move fluidly. He has an eye for finding a way through danger. The addition of scale armor and training with Viv has enhanced this ability and honed his natural instincts. Falco can now bravely weave through light attacks, letting them glance off his armor, to close in on his enemies.
  
  Pocket Sand - Falco keeps a bit of sand, dust, or dirt in his pockets at all times. Not only does it polish his coins --because shiny money is good money-- it's useful for throwing in someone's eyes, usually followed up by a sucker punch.
  
  Counterpunch - Using taunts and insults, Falco baits his opponent into making the first move, then slips inside their arc or strikes while they're winding up an attack. Very risky and only works against slow, predictable opponents.
  
  Knifeplay - Literally knife play. He's good at playing with knives. Flipping them, twirling them, juggling them. It is useful for looking cool, but not much else. Can sometimes scare off low level thugs. "Uh oh, we got a badass over here!"
  
  Knife throw - Exactly what it sounds like. Unfortunately, he's not very good at it and it almost never lands with the pointy end, but will at least make most enemies duck or dodge, which can open up opportuniteies for a follow-up attack.
  
• SPELLS​
  Flash (Tier I)
  
  A blinding arc of electricity, summoned by snapping his fingers. It's quick casting time makes it useful, but could temporarily blind allies or himself if he's not careful.​
  
  Gust (Tier 1)
  
  A basic wind spell, which emits a brief, but powerful, burst of air from the palm of his hand. While not strong enough to blow an opponent over, (unless they're already off-balance or clumsy AF,) it can kick up dust to blind them, blow away low-level flames, or, if timed perfectly, alter the trajectory of some projectiles. Its near-instant cast time makes it perfect for comboing with melee strikes.​
  
  Magna Cross (Tier 1)
  
  After a brief incantation, Falco clashes his blades together, creating a powerful, directed burst of repulsive magnetism, which can be used to knock back an opponent's weapon or shield, or propel himself away from a large, heavily-armored foe to gain distance. This spell only affects ferrous metals (i.e. steel, iron, etc) and requires him to wield two blades (or at least two metal objects, one in each hand).​
  
  Arcfang (Tier 1)
  
  Falco primes his blade by encasing it in a dense layer of highly-compressed and electrically-charged air. When the blade and his off-hand comes into contact with a conductor, the completed circuit allows his blade to burn through. This attack is essentially in improvised plasma cutter; its intense heat destroys his blade in the process, but is guaranteed to cut, albeit relatively slowly. Its cutting power is affected by conductivity, so it is best used against metals and will stop working entirely if his blade and hand do not remain in contact.​

  Beastfolk race with serpentine features. Diluted Lamias like part-human ones have less serpent qualities, but still posses some. Though snake-like characteristics differ person to person. Some Lamia's actually possess large scaled tails for their lower halves in place of legs.
  
  In Hyss's case, she possesses the slitted pupil of a reptilian eye. And the thin membrane known as brilles that covers and protects her eye. A dislocating jaw and fangs, and a venom sac in her throat. She also possesses the vomeronasal at the top of her mouth, that give her an increased sense of smell. And the typical forked tongue that snakes possess.
  
  She also has scales so fine that from a distance nothing but regular human-like skin is noticeable, but the closer one gets the more one can see the various overlapping lines of her scales.

  Hyss is a slender, small girl, with a frail appearance. With an appearance that often gets her mistaken for a kid. This suits her just fine, as it works in favor of her current chosen profession. Hyss has skin that is described as "white as snow." Though, actually, it merely has the appearance of skin. Actually, Hyss is covered in many scales. But they are laid so finely that they're almost impossible to notice. Just like snow. But if one so wishes, Hyss can show off her scales, by flexing them.​

  ​

  Keeping in line with the winter theme. Hyss has a bed of snow-white hair, and icy blue eyes that are as deep as they are chilly. Though, perhaps opposite of that, Hyss's typical chosen attire is a dark, black hooded garb with minor skin-exposed parts. And day-to-day, when relaxing outside of work, Hyss tends to choose baggy, unflattering clothing. Never has she worn anything that would be best described as "pretty" or flattering on a woman. Though Hyss isn't against some wispy ceremonial dresses, as they remind her of her home and the various ceremonies that her tribe practiced.​

  However, Hyss is pretty much never seen without her mask on. It hides what she believes to be a hideous jaw of razor-sharp fanged teeth. She doesn't like people seeing that, so she keeps it hidden. Hyss often wears hoods for similar reasons, as they help her to maintain a covert standing. It can be inferred she may be a bit shy.​

  From a young age, Hysydice viewed the Valgem empire with wide eyes of admiration. She saw the marching troops and knights and "wanted to be like them" one day. Her dream, she wore it on her sleeve. For whatever reason, she couldn't understand why her parents always gave her the saddest looks when she mentioned anything about it. Until one day, when they explained. That was when she learned of her lineage. The Beastfolk tribe of "Lamia" known as the Salt Scale Tribe were one-of-a-kind. Or so they believed. Valgem agreed. Years and years ago, when Valgem was ambitious and conquering territories. Their little island was a target. The surviving Lamia were then all inducted into the nation's military. Only recently have some gone their own ways. But most stuck with Valgem. This was before she was born --before they were all born.
  
  When asked why they stayed, her father told her "There is a certain pride we carry." And when Hyss asked her mother, she replied with, "It is so hard to aim for something new, when the familiar is right there."
  
  Inspiring? Hard to say. But all Hyss heard was the soft sadness and loneliness in their voice. A sorrow that was buried deep in their hearts.
  
  Hyss began her training to join the military as her parents had, and their parents had. And as most of the descendants of the tribe had. The training was hard. She felt like she had butterfingers trying to manipulate the polearms and swords. Something about them just didn't fit her right. She constantly got knocked down by other would-be knights in training. Most of the kids laughed at her pitiful displays. But she was headstrong, and persevered.
  
  Or she intended to anyway. As a short while later, tragedy struck. During some routine mission her brother came back with a spear in his back. Her parents were inconsolable, but Hyss was hit even harder. She simply stared at the corpse of her brother, with a spear in him. When she was finally left alone with him, Hyss was able to properly mourn. Wailing and clutching him close. A small shrine to the god Oceaniss that their tribe believe in nearby. Placed there under some tradition her parents believed in, to send Parthasztas's soul to the afterlife. Apparently, some sort of blood sacrifice for some ritual was achieved. Under the watchful eye of Oceaniss, Hyss felt a new energy flow into her. Or so she thought. It felt like her entire body was on fire, then the opposite, like her entire body was chilled to the bone. She didn't know what it meant, but Hyss believes it was a blessing from Oceaniss. That's what she truly believes to this day. With that said, this so-called "blessing" has seemingly become nothing more than a curse of chill on her bones.
  
  After mourning her brother, Hyss decided "enough was enough." She couldn't live here, like this. Without warning, and without a word to her parents, she slipped away. The young Hyss thought it was better that way. And couldn't bring herself to face her parents. She also thought herself a bit more capable than she was, but had vastly overestimated her abilities.
  
  The journey she set out on without much fore-planning was hard. It left her wary, and dazed. Feeling like she was going to die, she stumbled up to the edge, leaning over those dangerous craggy gray cliffs. Then toppled right over into the churning waters below. Swallowed up by evil, black waters of the sea.
  
  But Hyss survived. Whether it was by some divine protection from Oceaniss. Her own Lamia genes that allowed her tribe to connect to water, or by sheer luck. She crawled out on the shores of Raeligard, coughing and sputtering. She may have miraculously survived the sea, but that's where she collapsed, feeling like death.
  
  Only to be found by a humble, kind fisherman named Alan Norres. For a time thereafter, the man took care of her in his humble fisherman's hut. He nursed her back to health, and something of a bond formed between them. Yet, Hyss knew this was not the last stop on her journey. Once more feeling the strings of sorrow tugging on her heart, she left, saying silent thanks and hoping he would understand.
  
  Hyss somehow made her way through the country over the following months, or years, finally coming upon the great walled capital Achelriede. She stumbled into the the city, and around its winding alleyways until she came upon someone of intrigue. Scarlet-eyed Blessiliene, the Unseen Thunder. Or that was what she was known through rumors. As Blessiliene -Bless for short. Exuding an air of confidence and control, Hyss knew right away that this woman was impressive. And ever since then, has looked up to the mysterious, dark-haired woman.
  
  Bless looked at her and said. "Not today. But maybe one day." Before turning away.
  
  After that, Hyss sought the power that she viewed as necessary to be by Bless's side. And the power necessary for justice -or perhaps vengeance- for her people, seeking to bring some sort of solace to her tribe that she views as horribly wronged.
  
  That's when she changed her tactics, realizing Valgem's way was not her way. She began training in the arts of subterfuge, thinking it may help her find Bless's side once more. With a new weapon more suited to her, she sought out Kriegslöwe Guild, thinking it may be more her style, and may be just what she needs to sharpen her edge. Once there, she witnessed some of a B ranked guildsman's abilities. Her name was Jenefer. After witnessing her, Hyss said to herself, "That's how I want to fight. She's who I want to learn from." And made it her goal to learn from Jenefer, as an apprentice, or maybe even indirectly from afar. Jenefer was the one who tested her into the guild and gave her Fangflake.

  
  PERSONALITY
  

  Hyss has a very subdued personality. She isn't one for conversation, nor is she one to speak up. She tends to blend in the background, as per her training. In fact, Hyss takes her training to heart. She's quick, yet soft and silent, and when interacting with people speaks in an affirming, monotone, matter-of-fact sort of way. She also tends to speak with an inflection of respect towards others. And those that are deserving of respect, Hyss silently admires. But she doesn't keep that admiration a secret.​

  ​

  With that being said, those that are undeserving of respect, or who are outside her current mission, Hyss tends to treat rather coldly. In fact, it can be said that Hyss has a mysterious, icy demeanor. So much so, that without knowing her, one could believe she lacks empathy, and can be viewed as uncaring in the face of most things. Hyss rarely alleviates these notions with words either, so Hyss's "uncaring, icy" disposition is pretty well established. Even if, underneath it all, it isn't necessarily the case. Regardless, Hyss does have a lack of caring for general things. And more mundane things can be surprising to her, when she inadvertently finds them interesting, fun, or does find she cares about them.​

  ​

  Hyss's training is more suited towards her. As she is aiming to be a coldhearted killer, Hyss, embraces that aspect of herself quite extremely. For her ultimate goal is to enact revenge upon Valgem. All her current training is for that end. As a coldblooded Lamia, this life suits her well.​

  ​

  Still, that is her ambition regarding Valgem. People outside of that nation -like the ones she lives amongst in Raeligard- she views favorably, and rarely finds conflict with them. Which, despite her "mysterious, icy disposition," has lead many to believe Hyss is quite reliable. She's frequently called upon to perform tasks. Which she does so with nary a peep of complaint, leading those to believe that Hyss is compliant, if not a bit of a doormat, perhaps.​

  ​

  Hyss may not be so much as compliant, or a doormat, as she simply doesn't think to complain. She views her current lot to be training, and takes to it firmly. She's hardworking and keeps her eyes on the ball. Rarely does she deviate or get distracted. Yet when she does, it can be noted that it's probably something important.​

  ​

  Speaking of which, Hyss believes in "heretical" things. She was taught to worship Oceaniss, which she does so fervently. Oceaniss also lived amongst other "older" gods. So this whole "Church of Aurelia" confuses her more than anything.​

  
  RELATIONS
  

  Parthasztas Maliss -- Hyss's older brother, who she vehemently looked up to, believing he would be the one to be "bestowed" what they call "the power of Oceaniss". Honors his death every year on his birthday, and every month on the day it occurred. She has dedicated her life to avenging him.​

  ​

  Scarlet-eyed Blessiliene "Bless" the Unseen Thunder -- The person who Hyss met in Achelriede and who Hyss looks up to the most, for whatever reason. A mentor or instructor of sorts to Hyss. But more of a "goal" for Hyss to reach. Known as the "Unseen Thunder" as she expertly uses lightning magic to subdue targets before they even know she's there. Like Silent Thunder or Unseen Thunder.​

  Coldhearted Jenefer Reeve, the Voidmoon -- Hyss's would-be mentor in the Kriegslöwe Guild. A B rank guilder with a rather infamous reputation. She's known for her control over Voidmoon, the Glaive -or Chakram- whichever you prefer- she wields. Her skill with it brings forth fear in the hearts of her enemies. She's said to have a bit of a dark personality, and isn't too personable, despite needing to be to interact with people. Though she's generally amenable to your average person. If not a bit direct, and short on words. She expertly uses her Arcanizer in conjunction with her glaive, to make her glaive techniques much more threatening. It is this, that Hyss is to learn from her.​

  Oceaniss -- The "Drowned God". A serpentine god of the waters and sea, worshipped by the Lamia in the Salt Scale Tribe. Pagan worship if you are in the Aurelian Church. Hyss is a devout and fervent believer in him.​

  Phirixia and Hysixera Maliss -- Hyss's mother and father, who for reasons Hyss cannot fathom, work in the Valgem empire. Hyss wants to "free" them some day. She just hopes she can convince them to leave.​

  ​

  Alan Norres -- A timid older man with a chubby countenance who was the first to find her after she collapsed off the shores of Raeligard. This man took care of her for a brief time, nursing her back to health. But it was short-lived, as Hyss left his riverside, fisherman's home, seeking a new path that would lead to her ultimate goal. Still, she harbors warm feelings for him, and is eternally grateful for his help, knowing he saved her life.​

  ​

  Godric Livesey -- A young noble that Hyss got close to, as a self-imposed part of her training. Now you could say they're a bit of friends. Though, it is unclear if Hyss merely maintains the relationship due to her mission, or if she genuinely feels that way.​

  ​

  Hugh Keyes -- Of Keyes Bakery. A simple, humble boy who works at Keyes Bakery. Hyss met him by chance one day, when out training -which she botched, hence meeting this "witness". But it was training, so nothing became of it. Since then, Hyss has found the foods at his bakery are "sufficient", and frequently visits. Though, that may end now that she's moved cities to Tylsen.​

  Spoiler: Fellow Guildmates

  Guildmaster Kaira -- Fairly low opinion of her (though not too low yet, since they haven't met). But that's why its low. Hyss's opinion of her lowered, when the guildmaster herself didn't show up to engage with the new recruits, as Hyss believes it is a superiors job to act like, well, a superior. Instead of this absentee performance.​

  ​

  Vivienne Yvarra -- Fairly good. So far Viv (or "Madam Yvarra") has proved herself to be quite the capable superior. Both in battle and as a leader. Her helpful attitude is also what Hyss believes a superior should possess. Though, like some others, Hyss has noticed Viv is a tad overbearing. And that whole "mom"-shtick isn't really Hyss' cup of tea. If Viv wasn't so motherly she'd be the perfect superior.​

  ​

  Cephilia Valdergeuse -- While her abilities, combat-wise and her magitech craftsmanship are very impressive (which Hyss does respect), Hyss doesn't possess the highest opinion of "Madam Valdergeuse". Hyss witnessed her lead a bunch of newbies into a mission underequipped and without all the necessary information, revealing later it was "optional", or rather, pointless in the grand scheme of things. For any mission that's "optional" could be considered pointless. To Hyss sending your subordinates to a mission underequipped and without info is a HUGE no-no. Whether it was by ignorance on Ceph's part or on purpose as some sort of ill-advised test, neither is good in Hyss's eyes. She understands testing your subordinates and their individual strengths, but not in an scenario with ACTUAL danger. And Ceph's laissez faire attitude towards her subordinates and their possible deaths is another big negative in Hyss' mind.​

  ​

  Arien -- Who? Just a joke. Right, the clerk. She has next to no opinion of him. "He's doing clerical work, that's all." If asked how she felt about him, Hyss wouldn't even have an answer.​

  ​

  Gaius -- Thinks for an older gentleman he seems to lack self-control. Which means Hyss thinks he's either dangerous or fairly incompetent. "Someone his age should have self-control, if they don't possess any then they've failed." Especially men. Girls learn to fear older men without any self-control.​

  ​

  Razul -- Probably higher opinion of him than most. Thinks he has a reasonable chance in a traveling circus troupe as an actor. Thinks he possesses no chance as an adventurer in a guild. Appreciates his Humorous Routine for what it is, but thinks he has nothing to offer as an ally in battle.​

  ​

  Thalgrukh -- A bit disappointed in him, to be honest. She thought the big Ovil-ken would be more formidable -and therefore more reliable. But he seems to be the "gentle giant" type. ...Hyss thinks the gentle giant type is ultimately useless. Or should be an inn clerk or something. She doesn't trust him to have her back in a fight, despite his size and appearance.​

  ​

  Sakuranbo -- While there are others who seemingly loathe the Beastkin for what she did, Hyss isn't one of them. Sakuranbo's skill with the bow and instincts are strong, so Hyss thinks highly of her combat abilities. With that being said, Hyss wouldn't say she has any particular kinship with the other Beastkin either.​

  ​

  Risax -- He's a big spider. She doesn't really have enough information about him to make an educated impression. But from his appearance alone he should be useful. Should be. She's still keeping an eye out for the verdict on that yet.​

  ​

  Thea -- Despite their small disagreement, Hyss witnessed Miss Schuerer's skill firsthand, so she finds the knightess to be a reliable ally in combat and trustworthy to watch her back. That being said, outside of that, Hyss is not thrilled about Thea's personal beliefs - and how they seemingly cloud her judgment, which could prove to be a net negative in the long run. Another one Hyss is keeping a close eye on.​

  ​

  Lucia -- While she seemed capable in the small scuffle with the dogs. Hyss doesn't trust simple hand-to-hand combat. She thinks Lucia is hindering her own potential and could simply be a stronger ally wielding nothing more than a simple sword. The fact she doesn't Hyss thinks Lucia's a bit foolish. But other than that, so far Hyss hasn't seen anything in particular she dislikes.​

  ​

  Cresslinde -- Hyss doesn't have enough. But despite being near the same size, Hyss doesn't think too highly of Cress's small stature, seeing it as a negative in combat. Meaning Cress would be less trustworthy in a fight to defend her back. She so far has nothing against Cress as a person, though.​

  ​

  Falco -- Lukewarm opinion of the boy. She hasn't paid much attention to his seemingly chauvinistic antics. As when she saw it the first time, Hyss began to willfully ignore it -and him.​

  She's a fledgling shadow, but even a fledgling as her uses. Hyss is on her way to being good at subterfuge, and sneaking into places most think are pretty well secure. She trains in how to subdue opponents quickly -coming from odd angles, or blindsiding with sneak attacks. Similarly, she's used her training and her senses in sussing out traps and thwarting them. She's acrobatic, and is decent at throwing her glaive/chakram.​

  ​

  As a Lamia, she can also produce a mild paralytic poison naturally with her venom gland. She is also capable of delivering this poison either through needles or directly biting someone.​

  ​

  Hyss's quiet nature, silent footsteps, and natural climbing ability, also help her to eavesdrop and learn important details of various things.​

  
  WEAKNESSES
  

  With all that said, Hyss is by no means a master of the unsavory arts. She's prone to making a mistake here or there, and isn't yet entirely trained in how to deal with making such mistakes on a mission. In other words, she's bad at improvisation. That extends into more mundane tasks and normalcy. Hyss lacks a mind for herself, and is at her best when she's given direct orders to follow. When it is necessary to act on her own ideas and thoughts, she tends to the safer option -to give up and flee.​

  ​

  And while she's capable, she's bad in a more straight-up head-to-head fight. Hyss prefers striking first asking questions later. But should she be forced to fight, she prefers to stick at a range. She's fragile, even with her scaled body. And she lacks in actual fighting technique, so those well-trained will most likely blow her mind and find her easily beatable. Almost as if she's easily toyed with.​

  Hyss also often is subdued by her own body. The frigid blood coursing in her veins often hurts, and she can be found clinging to her chest, fighting off inherent pain she lives day to day with.​

  Fangflake -- Hyss's signature weapon. A prototype for a Manatech weapon in the shape of a throwing-star, or throwable glaive. Is modified to fit her hand like a sai, or even a knuckle-fitted weapon. Fangflake can be adapted on the fly. It can change shape, snapping into a more circular shape to be thrown, like a glaive, or chakram. Earning it's "flake"-like name as it greatly resembles a snowflake. Albeit one that's much deadlier.​

  Hood -- Called nothing special. Hyss's hood that she wears to better conceal herself.​

  Mask -- Similarly, nothing special. A deep black mask Hyss wears to cover her "ugly" jaw.​

  ​

  Shortbow -- Small amount of training. Used to accentuate her "attack from the shadows/surprise attack" strategy. Also used as a back-up weapon if need be.​

  Grappling Hook -- Hyss possesses this more of a complimentary sort of thing, as it's a bit redundant, since her skills usually more than suffice. A simple device that allows Hyss to shoot out a metallic hook that can catch or ensnare onto things, allowing for Hyss to pull herself up to higher positions. The length of the rope is about 12 feet / 365 cm / 3.65 m -which is a bit on the short end.​

  TECHNIQUESSilent Walk -- After training, Hyss's footsteps make very little noise. She seeks to perfect this and have what is known as "silent footsteps".
  
  Scaled Scaling -- Hyss is quite acrobatic, and is capable of ascending to great heights using footholds only her trained eyes can locate.
  
  Serpentine Slither -- Hyss's fighting style, which involves twisting and winding around. Using her size, speed, and athleticism to avoid confrontation while gaining distance and a better angle.
  
  Serpent's Strike -- Hyss's signature attack. Usually made from the shadows, or from a comfortable position in the high ground. Meant to immediately incapacitate and win the fight. Either made with her glaive, or her bite, or some other improvised weapon like daggers, needles, etc.
  
  Hidden Hydra -- A monstrous technique that she assumes she gained from Oceaniss. Hyss can also stretch-extend her neck for four feet. Though it leaves her neck exposed and vulnerable, and takes a considerable amount of time to retract and for the muscles to return to their non-stretched state. Typically used to intimidate, or to surprise bite someone. A double-edged sword with how vulnerable it leaves her most-vital spot (her neck).
  
  Precision Strike -- Hyss has started to focus more on the weak-points of her enemies; targeting them, she is becoming more capable of performing critical attacks and crippling slashes. With a bonus to this skill if it's performed as a "sneak attack".
  
  Reverse Snowflake - Hyss makes a quick kick at a vital part of the opponent. (Not vital as in "vitals", vital as in a good spot to kick them in the moment. Like their side, or knee, etc.) Throwing off their balance and pushing either Hyss back, them back, or both away from each other. Then, depending on how effective the kick was, Hyss can follow-up with a quick and nasty downward slash using her glaive across the midsection. If no follow-up happens, Hyss uses the momentum of the kick to springboard herself away from the foe to a more safe distance. Ineffective against heavily armored foes, but the springboard effect still happens.

  SPELLS​
  
  
  
  Howling Chill (Tier 1) -- A quick moving air with a chill on its wind. Used to direct Hyss's thrown glaive and bring it back to her. "The wind howls.."
  
  Ouroborous (Tier 1) -- When cast, it allows Fangflake to return to her hand up to four times without needing to recast... but only if it remains in motion. If the glaive becomes stuck in an enemy or obstacle, or she does not rethrow it smoothly enough, the spell will end, and recasting will not return it to her. This spell propels Fangflake faster than 'Howling Chill' can, but demands quick, graceful movements and accurate throws.
  
  Biting Chill (Tier 1) -- "The wind chills.. A somber mood, drifting dreary clouds, and a shrieking gale. Freeze!"
  Wind gathers around Fangflake, growing colder, and ice begins to form along the blade. Then when thrown, a trail of frosty air travels along the throw, icing up the ground, and anyone caught by the wind, if not hit by Fangflake. Fangflake also causes a bit of freeze damage where it strikes, creating a small ice expansion.
  The frosty effect causes slow and shivering, due to cold enough to maybe hamper some people's movements as they shiver. But the ice expansion is worse.
  This spell is still being worked on to maximize its effectiveness. It is also a bit risky to use, as Fangflake temporarily gets caught in the ice, requiring multiple uses of Howling Chill to break free. Or for Hyss (or someone) to break up the ice before retrieval is possible.

  Hyss is prone to yawning. It's unclear why. But her yawns are rather humorous, obviously stretching out the mask covering her jaw.
  
  Hyss can also be seen shivering. Though she does this more secretly than her nonchalant yawns.

  BACKSTORY
  A lot of Endymion’s early years are a blur to him. He grew up in a small neighborhood along the border of the Galvan Gulf; that much he remembers, at least. He was a weak and sickly child,
  
  (“-since birth,” his mother would tell him, without looking up from where she was chopping vegetables for their dinner. He could hear the chnkt chnkt chnkt of her knife from where he sat at the table across the room, crushing cloves of garlic under the back of a spoon. “You’ve always been a fragile little thing. So much unlike your father.”)
  
  and so he grew up quite isolated, often resting indoors instead of roughhousing with the other children outside. His mother cared for him alone -- his father, a an ex-Kriegslöwe himself, died before Endymion’s birth. While she worked long hours to support the two of them, Endymion turned to his only other source of company: his studies. His coping mechanism for negative emotions (such as loneliness, inadequacy, estrangement) has always been to immerse himself in knowledge -- turning his focus to a subject that makes him feel confident and in control, instead of acknowledging his underlying anxieties. Endymion was inspired to study astronomy partially for this reason, and also because whenever he was confined to bed rest for days on end, the stars and sky were always visible from the window in his bedroom -- and were something that nobody could ever deny him or use to hurt him.
  
  (It’s late, it’s so, so, late, it has to be, that’s why his whole body feels so tired and full of lead, but Mother nudges him awake anyways, urges him into sitting upright (-or, something close to, at least) and when he makes a little tired noise in the back of his throat, she shushes him, and presses a- something into his mouth, quickly, and she pushes down on his throat with her fingers to get him to swallow. It’s so bitter and it burns going down, and he tries to cough and splutter and twist away but his body is so heavy, and Mother clasps one hand over his mouth and the other on his shoulder to push him back down and he goes with the movement like he’s a sack of stones thrown into the lake. It’s - whatever it was is making his body roil inside, and his head’s too full of fog to do anything now except make another sound, and Mother is saying something but he’s losing her words in the haze.
  
  “-sh. shush, boy, stop fighting, you hear me? stop fussing and take it, i know you can--”
  
  “...have to do this. you KNOW i have to, it’s what you deserve, it’s your f--”
  
  “-’s’like a cruel joke, seeing you wear his face like that, you don’t deserve it, THIS is what you d--”
  
  Sleep Something like sleep takes him, and that is that. In the morning he will remember nothing, but his fingers will all be numb and his throat will burn fiercely just like the rest of his fevered body.
  
  “You’ve probably been pushing yourself too hard again, boy. Go back to bed for the rest of day or you'll get sicker,” Mother says, chopping herbs at the counter.
  
  She doesn’t look up from her knife.)
  
  Endymion began experimenting with magic at a young age as well, after he discovered — in a fit of stir-crazed rifling through the house and his mother’s things whilst she was away — his father’s old Arcanizer, fitted with a Ruby Zauberite and calling his name. Endymion fell in love with it immediately. Magic in all its glory, despite his inexperience and tendency for fumbling, came naturally to him. This worked to his benefit, as the stronger his mind and mana became, so did his physical body -- until he had become a person of health like any other (save for an occasional sensitivity to stomach bugs and sore throats). With age, he gained confidence and life experience, though he still retains some of his odd 'quirks' and probably always will. Around the time he was toeing the line between teenager and young adult, all while approaching proportionately impressive levels of self-mastery, his mother passed away. Endymion, spurred on by his sudden lonesomeness and now feeling more and more the need to accomplish something worthwhile with his skills, made the decision to join the Kriegslöwe Guild ...is what he says.
  
  (Endymion is taller than Mother, now. His magic is stronger, too, and burns right through the poisons she puts in his body. He doesn’t get sick anymore. He’s figured out the secret to it by now.
  
  “Mother,” he starts, and his voice is wobbly on the inhale but strong when he says, “Mother, I’m going to join the Kriegslöwe Guild. I’m going to be an adventurer, like Father was, and- and I’m going to help people. I’m strong enough now that you can’t stop me. Even if you tried. You can’t hurt me anymore,” and he practically spits those last words.
  
  Mother is silent for a long time. Endymion may have gotten stronger with age but Mother has gotten crueler. She's figured out the trick, too, she knows why she fails now at keeping him ill and easier to bear to look at. It makes her desperate -- seeing him the splitting-image of his father now -- like a wild animal caught between self-laid traps of claws and fangs.
  
  Mother turns around, and she looks up at him, finally, and she says in a cruel, tilted mock, “Then I hope you are gutted alive by beasts, just like your Father was, and I hope it is your fault.” Then she lunges at him with that godforsaken knife in her hand and Endymion sees white.
  
  (A moment of weakness. A fit of passion. A weapon, in the wield of someone who never should have laid such a naive hand on it.)
  
  There is a burst of light, a stilletto of flame, and then Mother is bleeding on the kitchen floor. She’s breathing, but she does not get up again. He hopes it’s slow. He hopes it hurts. He hopes she dies after days of her wounds festering alone in that cursed house, but he does not stay and see. Endymion leaves to join the Kriegslöwe Guild and does not come back. He casts the Arcanizer away somewhere he hopes no one will ever come across again. Only once does he wish he didn't do it.
  
  “Sickness,” he would say to anyone who asked, running a thumb absently over the knife-scar on his palm. “She was sick for a long time, and it killed her. I couldn't save her.”)
  
  Despite his occasional oddness he is genuinely good at what he does, and with an aptitude for magic already, Endymion slipped through the cracks and managed to secure a place in the Guild alongside the rest of the cast, this time wielding Lapis and a vow to heal, rarely harm. Though he is a man of science first and foremost, Endymion believes that all life is inherently beautiful and worth saving. It is for this reason that he chose to spend his life devoted to serving and protecting the common people of Raeligard, even if his methods of getting there can be a little bit… abstract.
  
  PERSONALITY
  Endymion is curious, passionate, and will stop at nothing to uncover the truth or do what’s right. ...If it’s a subject that interests him. Otherwise, he can come across as quite scatterbrained and unmotivated. The same can be said about his approach to human relationships, though he can become quite attached to a person once he deems them worthy of his attention. He has been described kindly as “marching to the beat of his own drum” and perhaps less-kindly as “eccentric and oblivious.” The pursuit and mastery of knowledge is the single-most important thing in his life -- everything else comes after, which means he often neglects his relationships and basic self-care in favour of his research. He is chronically sleepy, tells bad jokes exclusively, and prefers sweet foods. His handwriting could make even a doctor weep. He finds plants easier to understand than people and grows orchids as a side hobby.

  Travelling cloak, affectionately titled ‘Velificatio Selene,’ lit. ‘moon’s veil’ — Handmade (in dark blue fabric, probably was a curtain at some point) and poorly embroidered with silver thread in the shapes of filligreed moons and stars. Used frequently while travelling as a blanket and rolled up as a pillow, over-the-shoulder ration bag, wrap for injuries, and in dire times a handkerchief. Has seen some better days.

  Bound notebook — Also homemade. Pages sewn between natural-brown leather covers. On the inside of the front cover, the initials “E.A.” are stamped into the corner. Contains pages of half-filled notes, mostly consisting of observations of the current star positions (respective dates included), sketches of wild flora and fauna, and notes on improvements that could be made to his spellcasting technique. Some pages have actual dried flowers or pieces of plants pressed in between them. There are also a few pages of what appear to be… poetry, perhaps? But they’re entirely scribbled out and illegible at this point.

  Dancing Waves — Desperate times call for desperate measures, and Endymion’s emergency weapon of choice is his trusty wooden staff. Deft footwork and fluid (haha) motion allow him to slip away from an enemy’s blow and instead sweep their feet out from under them. If the nasty fall isn’t enough to render one immobile, a jab to a sensitive spot or a crack over the head will finish the job. Ah, viva la sea. The blue, it is harsh but it is my love.
  
  Silent But Deadly — No, that’s not what I mean. Being a hobby gardener has its perks, and so Endymion possesses the knowledge of how to safely extract and store the poisonous elements from most of the local flora, granted he has the materials. A few foxglove seeds snuck into the bottom of somebody’s wine here and there… you can imagine the consequences.

  Summon Water (Tier I) — Does what it says on the tin; the bread-and-butter of Lapis magic. Unless used for coating and healing a wound, it doesn’t do much else besides make the target surface wet. Could be a hilarious practical joke?
  
  Minor Healing (Tier I) — Requiring deep concentration, Endymion touches his hands to the affected area of the body and urges increased magical circulation in order to heal any wounds. Works inside and out— after all, the living body is mostly water. Doesn’t do much for viral infections, however.
  
  Adrenaline Rush (Tier II) — The human body is made up mostly of blood and nerves; perhaps, in other words, water and electricity. Endymion combines his Lapis and Jade Zauberites to induce a magical “adrenaline rush” in an ally of his choice. The rush may be applied to the whole body, allowing enhanced movement, alertness and thinking, or it may be localized to an individual body part (such as the eye, for example, allowing sensitivity to greater detail and normally undetectable actions like sleight of hand). Each rush lasts 1-2 minutes, and causes fatigue once worn off.
  
  Familiar — Beryl
  Endymion has formed a magical contract with a small, jewel-green frog of common breed. He may communicate with it telepathically, as well as summon it to appear by his side and assuming control of its actions at the cost of his mana. The frog, who Endymion has affectionately named ‘Beryl’ (after the gemstone), is a willful, refined little thing and resents being treated as his pet rather than equal adventuring partner.

  Backstory: Lupa originally was an orphan, probably from the northern regions given her affinity for the cold. An old knight by the name of Grendel Kirstav found her and was taken with this small child, probably because of her bright personality. He proceeded to take her home and gave her a warm meal and bed. Lupa wanted to be more like him as a result, a noble knight with a kind heart and strong will. She also wanted to be like the knights of legend, helping people and thwarting evil. The old man found it rather exciting. None of his children ever took an interest in the military arts. One of his sons married the daughter of an tavern owner, and the other had started a trading company. His only daughter joined the clergy, so he was happy to have a child to train and pass down his knowledge to. He had a chance to pass down his legacy as a knight. His relationship with Lupa was therefore more than knight and squire or protege and teacher, it became more of a father daughter relationship. Among the smaller end of community, she had become a rather charming and generous individual.
  
  Of her three siblings, Lupa got along with Sophia very well. As a result, she came to know about church practices and took to the faith, which would serve her well. When she came of age, Grendel had Lupa enlist in the military. For four years she was a soldier doing fieldwork. Granted, most fieldwork in peace times was uneventful patrols and checkups, but bandits would be a problem off in the countryside which led to raids. Her first kill, she remembers vividly, and it shook her to her core. Granted, her faith helped tether her down until she did learn to cope, but the event still changed her in some way.
  
  Lupa's time in the military came to an end after four years, upon which she returned to Tylsen to find Grendel had gotten much older. The old man was plagued by a number of health issues, and she took to helping him as best she could by doing chores around the house, but eventually she had the urge to do something more after a year. Her next job ended up being in the city guard, which she would work in for the next three years. Her job to mete out justice was enough to put coin in her pocket, but what really gave her a reason to enjoy her job was helping people around the district. She built up a reputation among the areas she worked and patrolled to the point she was refusing discounts and gifts from people who had her save their shop from a petty thief or settled bar disputes.
  
  That all came to an end when she met and started working with a guardsman named Henry. While she outranked him by years and basic ranks, he acted out when she tried to tell him about proper procedure or how his methodology to solving problems was more akin to that of a thug. She tolerated his presence, until one day she discovered he had beaten a petty thief and in fact drew his weapon during subduing the criminal. A clear breech of conduct led to her reporting him, which should have led to some action, but he only got a slap on the wrist. After that, he was re-assigned to a different district. The next time she saw the man was by chance when she was off duty, and he was acting suspicious. This led to her shadowing him to the slums where he went into an abandoned building. Again, she reported this, but the superior didn't take it seriously and she was brushed off. In turn, she continued to follow him, and she noted all his violations from extortion to his minor infractions.
  
  One day she went back to the abandoned building, and she found it was a large smuggling operation. Before she could report it, she was stopped by Henry along with a shady man who wore a cloak to his his body. Henry himself inquired and then proceeded to try and get her to cooperate with the operation, when she refused they attacked. Henry was first to die, but the shady man was a much more difficult fight. The only way she got the edge to beat him was by knocking both their weapons away and tackling him to the ground, leading to her drawing her dagger. She tried asking who he was working for, but he ended up killing himself through slamming his neck into her dagger. After her investigation, she noticed the man had three black lines tattooed to his upper arm reminiscent of clawmarks. She, of course, reported this, but killing a guardsman in self defense somehow landed her to getting discharged. Her superior used the logic that she could have agreed then reported it, and the stories didn't match. Her hands were tied, however, and Lupa had to hope that the higher ups would clean this issue out.
  
  After getting discharged, Grendel died in his sleep. In his will he left his house and weapons to her, which was fine with the other siblings as all three of them had left the nest and had their own means to house themselves. The housemaid caring for his property, Ellen, was kept in service by Ivan. In his words, it was so she could process the conditions of her life. Days turned to weeks, weeks to months, but eventually she pulled herself out and decided she had to do something. This led her to joining the Kriegslowe guild not because she wanted to find the criminals, but because she genuinely wanted to help people, and political neutrality sounded nice after the events of Henry.
  
  Personality: Lupa's personality is rather bubbly and laid back. She is rather generous and has a strong sense of compassion for others. She will even admit she never enjoyed killing, not even if it was for the greater good. Perhaps in this way, her faith shines brightest for her. She truly takes the teachings of Aurelia to heart, and regularly prays before eating. She also prays regularly for those she has killed, hoping they find peace in their penance. Her social interactions on a daily basis are friendly and full of energy. She also enjoys some light teasing here and there, but she genuinely enjoys people and their company.

  BACKSTORY
  An aspiring entrepreneur, sellsword, and artificer who wants to make a name for himself.
  
  Born into a rich family of inventors in the Empire of Valgem. Talio is the youngest son of the family. The Ferrammanus household was incredibly competitive, always seeking to one-up each other in their achievements. Talio however seemed to be content with being the underdog, doing the bare minimum to stay on the good side of his family. Because of this, many of his close relatives see him as lazy, but he sees himself as efficient.
  
  While the others preferred playing and tinkering in the workshop, he liked a more practical approach, field testing his own equipment, with disastrous results at times. Also unlike his peers, he devoted time to learning how to fight on his own. After all, his guards won’t always be there. His parents always said he would lose a limb one day if kept doing things his way and eventually he did in a failed field testing incident. Despite this “minor” setback. He was able to continue his work thanks to the kind donation of a concerned family member. Being gifted a new Mannatech arm, something he found much more useful than his original.
  
  Unlike his peers, his inventions and gadgets were focused more on dealing with day-to-day problems instead of revolutionizing an industry overnight. But thankfully, that also meant that his projects required much less funding compared to the others which were more grandiose in design and scale. This earned him a reasonable amount of support from more practical-minded investors. This also meant that he had more free time compared to his peers, giving him more time to learn different skills such some basic sword-fighting.
  
  Within the house Ferromanus, it was customary for the young to be sent out to the world as part of a traditional pilgrimage. They were expected to earn at least 10,000,000 Feln for their family while also making a name for themselves, either through their inventions or their escapades. In Talio’s case, 10,050,000 Feln was expected to cover the extra cost of the arm. Most of these individuals were sent out alongside a merchant caravan of their own for them to manage, however, thanks to Talio’s extra expenses on his limb, he was only given a single carriage and had to manage it all on his own. Strangely, it didn’t seem to bother him much as he always preferred to rely on his own capabilities. Besides, the greater the challenge the greater glory, and that was something he didn’t want anyone to take away from him.
  
  Like those who came before him, he was instructed to make his way to the Krieglounge Guild in Raeliguard. There have been many stories of how lowly adventurers became legends, so he didn't think it was a bad idea to start there. If nothing else, he could offer his services to these adventurers and start from there. Based on what he has read, it's always better to travel in a group.
  
  PERSONALITY
  With a blend of suave nonchalance, professional poise, and smug comedy, Talio carries himself as a competent and well-mannered businessman, always wanting to make a sale or at least pitch his new products and services to anyone who needs his help AND is willing to pay. He is a tinkerer at heart, always seeking to improve his craft and going to extreme lengths to test the limits of his tools and abilities, much to the dismay of his allies.
  
  Despite his generally friendly and diplomatic demeanor, he is not one to turn away from less civilized options to deal with problems. Some would even say his tactics are underhanded and unconventional, or much too extreme. But what he cares about is getting the job done and maybe making a bit of profit along the way. That being said, he does get high on the sense of pride and accomplishment on a job well done, a feeling no amount of money can buy.
  
  In spite of his tendency to be machiavellian, he does have a moral compass, albeit one with much more freeform and looseness compared to the average do-gooder. He keeps his word, often times to the letter, though he does leave a lot of room for interpretation. In most cases, he keeps the involvement of neutral parties to a minimum as part of his good business practices.

  Ferromanus Household - Has a bit of a bittersweet relationship with them, but nonetheless loves them unconditionally. Despite not being fond of traditions, Talio regularly sends a portion of his profits back to the household in keeping what was agreed upon at the start of his pilgrimage.

  Trained at a very young age to be an artificer, Talio is talented in crafting and modifying tools and weapons for whatever task is at hand. Having some experience as a salesman, he is often seen selling his products to other adventurers instead of directly participating in a quest. He prefers to win fights with his wit and influence, preferring to avoid dirtying his own hands. Talio is known to have a silver tongue and knows what to say and do to convince people to do what he wants.
  
  That being said, he is no slouch in combat. Especially since he rarely picks a fair fight to begin with. While he is an amateur swordsman, he has more than enough tools to even out the odds against superior combatants and catch them flat-footed. After all, no one expects a merchant to be their own bodyguard.

  Without all his tricks and intellect, he would still likely lose in a direct confrontation with a superior combatant. His strategies and plans are often based on his own experience and theories on how to handle certain situations, as such, things can and have blown up in his face due to ignorance of his opponents or of himself. But fortunately for him, he does always have an exit plan should things go south.
  
  He is a prideful man, and likes a challenge, even if the said challenge can be very detrimental to his current objectives. His parents have often told him to never pick a fight he can’t win. But in most cases, he thinks he can win any fight that he picks. He likes to take risks, and sometimes they don't pay off. He also has a habit of hiding information, leading to very avoidable misunderstandings.

  A carriage that acts as his home and workplace. This is where he spends most of his time tinkering on his gear or making gear to sell. The carriage has a workbench, cooking station and a place to rest after a hard day’s work.
  
  Manatech Arm
  Arguably his most prized possession. It started out as a prosthetic meant to return Talio’s life to some sense of normalcy but has since turned into a formidable tool and weapon after a few…modifications. Functions like a normal arm, but better, a lot better. Allows him to perform stronger and faster strikes with or without a weapon. The arm’s core heats up when used excessively, causing the limb to temporarily jam.
  
  Spitting swords
  Two swords with a unique-looking handle that contains a gas and liquid ejection mechanism. When crossing blades with his opponent, he presses a small lever, releasing a liquid or gas towards his opponent, usually used to blind, poison, and/or discombobulate his opponents. He got his inspiration from a snake that spits its venom. Needs to be reloaded after each use. Effects depend on the type of payload used, whether it be venom or sleeping powder.

  A downward strike with his manatech arm. Talio strikes at his opponent with his sword, aiming to bisect them with a single strike. Requires Manatech arm to be active. This attack is three times faster and stronger than your average swordman’s strike. Can be used without a sword, resulting in his manatech hand doing the chopping motion. Puts the arm at the edge of overheating.
  
  Disarming Strike
  Talio holds the hilt of his sword with a backhand grip and strikes his opponent with an upward strike with his sword from a sheathed position. Usually used at the opening of a confrontation to catch them off guard or as an immediate response to hostile action. Used to separate the target's weapons from their hands, their arms from their bodies.
  
  Catch & Break
  Extends his hand to catch the weapon of an enemy. Once in his grip, he can either choose to rip the weapons off their hands or break them with his crushing grip.
  
  Heat Discharge

  Gawky and bright-eyed as an adolescent ought to be, Lori is a skin-and-bones sort of gal, her voluminous hair working both to give her greater presence while also be a nightmare to smooth out. Split ends run rampant, and it would take a fortune’s worth of soaps and oils to fix up the jumbled mess now, but Lori stubbornly refuses to do so. A woman’s femininity is in her hair, after all, so she continues to keep it long and unrestrained, all the while collecting more twigs and dead bugs between the strands.​

  ​

  Her height, at least, gives her plenty of length to work with as her hair becomes more and more unmanageable. While some Caskarieth ladies have been graced with such descriptors as ‘mile-long legs’, Lori’s legs truly are disproportionately long compared to her upper body. The inheritance of her Beastfolk relation to chickens has granted her elongated calves made purely of tendon, toughened skin, and bone whilst ending in blackened talons that she regularly contorts herself to file the points off of. They grasp objects just as easily as her hands do, and her natural flexibility allows for some truly mind-boggling movements as she climbs or hangs from trees and rafters, but, well…​

  ​

  …the shoesmiths of Raeligard certainly don’t design pretty shoes for chicken feet. So Lori compromises by tying pretty bows to her legs, only for those fine fabrics to be soiled with dust and ripped to bits whenever she picks up her speed. Tragic times for the Beastfolk Babe indeed.​

  
  BACKSTORY
  

  Lori and her family had always been on the run. They weren’t fugitives of course, nor were they hunter-gatherers. Rather, with naturally long feet and the abnormal athleticism that came with being half-beast, the family trade had always been that of couriers. When wars ravaged the continent, their ancestors had delivered vital information over complex terrain that horses couldn’t hope to navigate. When ceasefire remained unsteady, their ancestors had delivered wax-sealed letters over long distances whilst disguised as nomads or pilgrims. And when peacetime began to settle in, Lori’s parents had been perfectly positioned, along with so many other Beastfolk couriers, to offer cheap, reliable services for the transportation of mail and parcels to the commonfolk. A courier with a horse was two mouths to feed, so double the expense. A courier with a carriage? Banish the thought or banish those bandits! And messenger birds? A hilarious flying snack for whatever yeoman was wandering the woods, more like. Indeed, if you’ve got a message that had to arrive expediently, to a place far off, there truly was only one way to have it send.​

  In those happy times, Lori was born, her first memories of being carried on the back of her father, the summer wind brushing against her cheeks as they ran, nay, flew parallel to the Galvan Gulf, their speed matching the white-tipped gulls that guided them to newer sights, grander destination. They travelled light, but they never wanted for much. With the bounties of Raeligard, and the money that flowed in from a lucrative business, the Birdfolk girl grew up happy and content, excited to do her own part. She ran as her father did. Learned how to hunt small critters in the woods. Grew accustomed to navigating mountain paths and wading through rushing currents. Enjoyed the animalistic suffering of hiding out beneath trees and caves and abandoned cabins as rain flooded the roads and snow blanketed the world. She collected shiny stones and dreamt of being a runaway princess. She made fleeting friends in every town and treasured those memories as merchants would gold. And as she grew taller, as she grew faster, as she grew better at the work she fostered under her father’s wings, Lori was excited.​

  In the Year 418, the Land Ferry finished development. Lori was happy. It looked cool!​

  ​

  Her father worked harder.​

  ​

  And one year later, mass production of the Land Ferry began, proliferating its tracks across the nation like the web of a spider. Suddenly, one needed neither carriages nor horses nor non-human appendages to travel swiftly from one place to another. The great innovation enabled anyone to travel to any other city expediently, and could carry far more than what any individual courier could.​

  ​

  So they had to travel farther, to more remote locations, in search for work. Those more remote locations had less to pay in exchange for their deliveries. It was rewarding, of course, to see the smiles on the faces of isolated farming communities as they received news, but it was no way to make a living. One by one, the couriers that Lori would see on the highways of Raeligard disappeared. Some joined the army once more, as scouts and rangers. Others rested their legs and leveraged their stamina within caves or factories. And still more, like her father, could only work as city couriers, bound to the walls of a singular pocket of civilization, running past restrictive streets and alleyways to make same-day deliveries to the impatient, flourishing bourgeoisie. Gone were golden days in the vast plains. Gone were starlit nights in silent mounts.​

  ​

  Gone, for even Beastfolk could not live without money.​

  ​

  Lori wasn’t an adult though. She wasn’t set in her ways either. She could run, sure, and she was a crack shot with her trusty sling, but that didn’t mean she had to be a courier. Her only requirements was to travel the world, and to make good money while doing so. And though the Lori who followed in her father’s footsteps could only dream of being like him, the Lori of the present era, this era of grand Manatech innovations upending the social hierarchy in ways that previous generations could never imagine, decided on a single thing.​

  ​

  If all this could happen before she was even a third of the way past her life, wasn’t this an Era of Miracles?​

  ​

  And if miracles were in steady supply, why not pursue a path even greater, one that allowed for travel and good coin, but also fame?​

  ​

  So to the Kriegslowe Guild she went, and by the miracle of having a kind examiner who tolerated the Beastfolk's relatively ineffectual run-and-sling tactics against his shield, Lori made it in...and hopefully still had luck to spare for whatever she'd have to handle after.​

  If it’s a matter of traveling on foot, Lori is well-experienced indeed, having both the endurance and the optimism to rough it out through the wild with minimal gear. Sure, she hasn’t got the experience to delve deep into the most dangerous sections of Raeligard’s wilderness, but she’s certainly confident that she could run away if things get bad. Horses would still catch up to her in a dead sprint, of course, because a chicken can only go so fast, but any proper courier possesses agility too, and her wide feet give her that extra stability to scramble up and down mountain trails. On the road, the fastest win. But in bad terrain? Oh, that was a different story indeed!​

  ​

  Of course, if things get bad or if there was a wolf she needed to scare away, Lori has her sling and her bag of pebbles. With a good shot, she could kill someone immediately, but most of the time, her accuracy stems from being able to hit someone at all, rather than hit any particular location. Surely, if she just kept running away and slinging pebbles at them, baddies would get the idea and go away?​

  
  WEAKNESSES
  

  Alas, Lori is still just an adolescent. For all the rules of nature that she had been drilled in, for all the encounters she’s had with corpses splayed out and befouled in the wake of attacks by bandits or wildlife, she’s fundamentally naive and unprincipled. Treasuring freedom over all else, she’s quick to choose flight over fight, and even when pressed, only fights to force the other party to run away. There’s an unsteadiness still, to how she handles herself, and she’s had only a few rare encounters with concentrated hostility from another sentient being.​

  ​

  On the more physical side of things, Lori’s bones are a fair bit more brittle than her human counterparts, owing to her own Beastfolk inheritance, and her overtly-elongated body means that she’s that much more easily bowled over. The clumsiness of her puberty remains in the form of a surprisingly terrible sense of balance, and her feet are not nearly as well-suited for movement on hard, solid surfaces, owing to the inability for her talons to dig into stone as well as it could with dirt.​

  ​

  And, of course, long hair serves no practical application in combat, and would even be a detriment in most cases, but good luck convincing Lori of that.​

  Slings and Stones - Fundamentally just a strip of leather and a bag of pebbles. Easy to carry, easier to hide, and great at doing literally nothing but piss off any foe with even a modicum of defensive gear.​

  Courier’s Outfit - Sturdy and water-resistant clothing woven of cloth, with leather padding where the joints are. Comes with a hood to protect the wearer’s head from the rain, but Lori cut a hole in hers so her hair could flow out more easily. Also accessorised with a little leather ornament that looks like a flower!​

  Pretty Bows and Bracelets - Cheap little baubles, but colorful enough for the girl.​
