history » Rubi has always been a wild child. She couldn't sit still during classes and constantly got in trouble. She snuck out to the Peacekeeper Training Grounds nearby to watch what they were doing, simply because it looked cool. All of it was kinda against the rules, but she didn't care. She applied to be a Career Tribute, and was surprisingly accepted. Instead of school, boring and complicated, the 12-year-old spent her days and nights attacking other kids, learning to suppress emotions and survive in the wilderness of an Arena. Their boarding school couldn't prepare you for everything, but at least you had a better shot than the poor sops in the other districts. And District 2 housing the Peacekeeper force, sometimes officers were brought in for special classes or as substitute teachers. And that's where she was introduced to Officer Pulvil. He was the one who had turned her in after she peeked on their training regimens from time to time. She became friends with him, and he became her teacher of sorts. Special fighting moves, knowledge and gossip, she'd wring it all out of him, nice and subtly. Then, she learned he could see ghosts. Inspired by the darkness of his heart, she dyed her already dark brown hair completely black, learned how to apply mascara thanks to camouflaging techniques. She scavenged from the District 3 Junkyard, and was bright enough to make an electric guitar, and an amp. She kept her contraband guitar secret as she practiced in the boonies, away from the Peacekeepers and school. She's become a bit of a rebel within the Schoolhouse, though she was generally a good student otherwise. She was smart, and now that she was being engaged in a deeper way, her mind took to her studies much better.
