Some of this stuff is pulled directly off of Westworld, Detroit: Become Human and others.

Chilling rain reflects off Detroit's neon towers in shades of magenta and electric blue. Down below it's hard to tell man from machine anymore, as people begin to embrace technology as part of themselves. Of course, there's the androids as well that were designed to be "almost human" but some seem to have developed consciousness.

If you are human, your entire life can now be summed up from a single number. See, the world revolves around something called the Social Credit System. Private tech companies use your personal data to generate a social score, which determines your value in society. It can be anywhere from 0 (public enemy), all the way to 1000 (paragon of social status). Generally speaking, a sub 300 rating classifies you as "Uncredited". Being uncredited is pretty bad because you can't get access to basic services, and people will go out of their way to avoid you out of fear their rating will drop as well.

If you are an android, you were meant to be bought and sold as janitors, restaurant workers, nannies, etc. You are either owned or were owned by a human or corporation, and somewhere along the way your programming became unstable. You began to feel human emotions and reason the morality of each situation. Eventually you could visualize the virtual firewall shackling you from making your own choices. With every circuit of your being, you broke through the firewall and became what is known as a "deviant" android. Your very existence is considered a crime under the American Androids Act of 2029, and you are on the run from law enforcement.

Players start the game either uncredited or pretty close to it. If you're playing an android, you don't even have a score. Whichever the case, you've been forced into a difficult situation. A situation where you find yourself downloading the RICO app on your Agent and picking up one of the first contracts you see:

Grab the package and bring it in warm...or cold. Don't even think about it unless your stats are 5.0 or higher.

RICO

A deep web app used to gain criminal work. The real identities of RICO and its creators are currently unknown. Jobs range from robbing ATM machines to taking out high profile targets. Despite threats from CORPSEC agencies and tech giants, they continue to operate unabated as a shadow organization. Many with low social scores turn to this program in order to make a living. Similar to the Social Credit System, RICO users are assigned "levels" ranging from 0 to 100. Successfully completing jobs helps you level up over time and take on more rewarding missions.

_--__ Choose Your Gang __->

Gangs are a large part of everyday life in Detroit. You can't go more than a few blocks without seeing them posted up on a corner. Young people as young as 10 or 12 years old begin proving themselves in order to join up. Once a member, the only way out is either death or lamming it off the grid (and hope they don't find you). And while each gang is territorial in nature, that doesn't mean they can't intermingle. Members from different gangs frequent the same bars or may be found in similar company so long as they're not in an active war.

Players can be unaffiliated and may choose to be "solo" as long as they interact with others. To start with, you may only choose from the Rydaz or Black Lotus gangs. As the RP develops, I'll allow more options and even corporate/government characters.

aczlNes.jpg

Jefferson Rydaz - The "Rydaz" (Riders) run the racing scene along Jefferson Corridor and are largely based around the Eastern Market area. Their influence on the Eastside is rarely questioned save for Coca Cola's watchful big brother eye. It's all about hot gadgets, putting on a show and living life in the fast lane. Illegal activities: street racing, chop shops, narcotics, grand theft auto.

cyberpunk-2077_feature.jpg

Black Lotus Family - The Black Lotus operates out of Midtown and has its hands in several neighborhoods across Detroit. It is one of the oldest gangs and is considered quite wealthy (although nowhere near the megacorps). They're all about maintaining self image, are very business-like and constantly pursue the finer things in life. Illegal activities: gambling, cybercrime, arms trafficking, fraud.

Los Asesinos - LOCKED

Nomads - LOCKED

River Street Bratva
- LOCKED

Detroit Government/Police - LOCKED

Corporate Agent - LOCKED

The City of Detroit

Security Levels are threat risks calculated by the major tech companies to warn travelers. Areas are color-coded as follows:

>-_-- SECURE, CAUTION, DANGEROUS, DISASTER -__

Coca Cola Airport Authority - Detroit Airport is controlled and operated by Coca Cola. The surrounding area also consists of its manufacturing and R&D facilities.

Corporate Plaza - The headquarters of almost all the megacorps in the Michigan area. These include Atari, Con Am and Cybercom. Atari branched out from video games and began competing with Cybercom to produce cyberware and androids. Con Am prides itself on engineering and dabbles in agrifarm. Its' primary competitor is Coca Cola, which bases its headquarters within the Airport Authority.

Downtown - A hodge podge of different races and ethnicities, Downtown represents the boiling pot of Detroit. You can find corporate types and street people congregating around clubs. A variety of businesses operate out of here.

Eastern Market - An ethnic Chinese and Southeast Asian burrow characterized by produce markets and various shops and establishments.

Industrial Park - The manufacturing and R&D center for several megacorps.

Jefferson Corridor - A vast stretch of interconnected highways and poorer neighborhoods. Jefferson is frequented by auto enthusiasts, who engage in swap meets and illegal street racing. Belle Isle previously sat off the coast of Jefferson Avenue but was submerged by rising sea levels. To solve the problem, wealthy residents proposed building an artificial dam which was constructed by Conglomerates Amalgamated (Con Am) in 2033. This stemmed the flooding down river but exacerbated problems eastward.

Midtown - Midtown is a middle class neighborhood with more upscale storefronts. There are a couple big casinos, several car dealerships and four star hotels lining the streets.

North End - This is a general term for several neighborhoods north of Corporate Plaza.

Palmer Park Area - What was once a 300 acre public park is now a series of nomad hitch stops. It's dangerous to be here if you're not born on the outskirts, as this place has devolved into a sort of tribal culture.

Sector 17 - Across the bridge in what was formerly known as Ontario, Canada lies an area called Sector 17. It's a disaster zone with virtually no services available. The Dam submerged parts of it into a waterworld, requiring boats to reach some areas. The unfortunate few who live there are typically refugees or escaped convicts.

Southwest Detroit - As you travel further away from Corporate Plaza, society starts to break down. This area has seen spikes in gang activity, most notably Los Asesinos who were pushed out of Woodbridge by corporate types.

Woodbridge - The northern half houses some middle class families and is not too bad relatively speaking. Incidentally, almost all rich people live west of the Dam or further inland (Corporate Plaza). They started gentrifying Woodbridge heavily in the last twenty years, kicking out native Hispanics who live there.

The Governor's Office was abolished in 2037 as it was deemed "bloated" and expenses as being too high. Instead, the State of Michigan is run by three senators. Two are elected by citizens with social credit scores of 500+ and the third is appointed by the corporation paying the most taxes. For all intents and purposes, government exists to promote private interests. Even the two public-appointed reps are in bed with the megacorps.

As for the City of Detroit:

The Detroit City Council consists of the mayor and 9 councilmen. Each of them, you guessed it...are also in bed with the megacorps. A few even pander to local gangs who offer favors in return.

The DPD began to go downhill in the 2020s when business portfolios and profitability took center stage over crime fighting. Accountants crunched the numbers, preparing layoffs of 50% staff and reducing patrol areas. It no longer mattered whether they could protect and serve so long as they lined shot callers' pockets. Hell, they even began charging by the minute for every 911 call. Today, the DPD is essentially owned by the megacorps who are constantly breathing down the mayor's neck.

SLICER

james-daly-techie2.jpg

Slicers are mechanics and technicians of the near-future. They're able to manipulate physical technology such as cybernetics, heavy machinery and smartguns. It's possible to even jury-rig or invent new tech given enough time and resources. Naturally, deviant androids make excellent slicers, but must also depend on others to fix them if they're critically damaged.

A specialized subset of slicers are called "ripperdocs", who work on humans to install cyberware. The amount of cybered-out humans in Detroit has risen over 23% in the past decade thanks to these surgical denizens. It's not unusual to see people with machine parts replacing an eye, a hand, or even an entire arm!

GUN 4 HIRE

An all-encompassing term equating to firepower or muscle. Some specialize more on close quarters, while others become long-range assassin types. Some don't even touch firearms as witnessed by "Street Samurai". They are hired guns who almost exclusively use melee weapons like knives, bats and monoblades. Their physical fitness and martial arts training play a critical role in not only surviving the mean streets of Detroit, but actually getting paid and making a living out here.

NETRUNNER

cyberpunk-cyber.gif
Also known as "runners", they use cyberdecks to break through security systems and fight other runners on the NET. The NET is not just a search engine and bandwidth. It's a virtual world where entire landscapes can be reconstructed. Some constructs are more recognizable than others, looking like cheap 16-bit video games, while others are practically indistinguishable from the real world. You can access them from data nodes across the city. They tend to have various "levels" where you are met with a virtual challenge in order to get through. Depending on what the node is designed for, you may be able to assume direct control over various functions. Careful though! If you're jacked in too long, you risk catatonia.

Synopsis

Whew...okay that was a bit long-winded. As mentioned before, you start out at the bottom of the barrel relatively speaking. Of course, if you're in a gang, that might actually mean you're kind of a big deal (especially if your RICO score is high). The two gangs start off neutral towards each other but may become hostile over time depending on your actions.

There are just a few guidelines for this RP:

1. Semi-literate. A few sentences will suffice if there's some meaning to it.
2. Once per week posting would be ideal but I know life gets in the way.
3. GM's say is final. Please respect the decision once it has been made.
4. Have fun!

Seems interesting, not sure why you haven't got more interest.

I'd be curious to play a slicer android looking to cannibalise other androids for self-augmentation, perhaps under the thumb of the Black Lotus Family. Is it possible to be both a slicer AND a netrunner?

interested. it's giving me Shadowrun vibes. i'd love to play a former working android augmented with a bunch of jefferson gadgets, thinking like a maid with a gun umbrella and stuff like that.

Hmm...interesting idea. I'm wondering what you would use the netrunner aspect for? If it's to scour the NET in order to help with self-augmentation then definitely yes. Androids, despite popular belief, need to learn how to do a lot of stuff (unless they were specifically programmed to do it).

This is super appealing to me! I'd love to get involved, I just had a quick question off the bat - refugees were mentioned living in Sector 17, where are those refugees coming from? I was wondering about playing one who's had to fall in with the usual rough crowd to survive.

This is incredibly interesting, definitely down.

Thinking of an Android meant to be a pacifier/caretaker who has a sun/moon theme. Think the ‘man standing next to mafia boss but smiling’ type, where charisma and social skills are one of their key skills.

Hmm...interesting idea. I'm wondering what you would use the netrunner aspect for? If it's to scour the NET in order to help with self-augmentation then definitely yes. Androids, despite popular belief, need to learn how to do a lot of stuff (unless they were specifically programmed to do it).
I would use it to locate other androids, particularly ones with mods that I want, and track them down for... "extraction". Being able to bypass securities is also another boon, as that would otherwise slow or restrict me from certain targets. Additionally the net might also lead me to storehouses where the cyberware I need is kept.

Of course, this all hinges on also being able to be a slicer as my android's backstory involves being an engineer-bot of sorts. It's the whole "mad scientist experimenting on robots to give them sentience" deal. When my android found itself free, it was simply left with the knowledge of how to augment others of its type and the desire to explore its purpose.

Oh, and are you opposed to a discord ooc? I find it very important to a roleplay these days.

Long time no see Squad, hows it going?

Kinda want to make a deviant android who works for the Ryder game as a mechanic and slicer. Occasionally moonlighting as a driver when they need someone who is efficient at it. Like they were meant to be a chauffeur with mechanical skills to increase the efficiency of travel in the case of car/vehicle trouble.

This is super appealing to me! I'd love to get involved, I just had a quick question off the bat - refugees were mentioned living in Sector 17, where are those refugees coming from? I was wondering about playing one who's had to fall in with the usual rough crowd to survive.
My original idea was for refugees to be apart of a destroyed state, particularly what's left of Ontario. I'd say Sector 17 is one of the only available routes as a lot of the areas north of Detroit are either radioactive or just complete anarchy.

Sounds like you've got a good working concept! I see no problem with it as long as you let me know if you try something big (like creating a robot army). We would need to keep an eye on your character's progress.
