    Scene UpdateSo just to keep us moving, the whole group is now at the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office and Police Academy. CupAndCough CupAndCough and his little cult have just pulled up as well so Grigori can now interact and join up with the group. Before anyone gets any ideas about exploring, there are some ominous storm clouds above them. It looks like the heavens are about to open at any second so you probably don't want your character to get caught up in that. Interactions are now open to the entirety of the group. Once Rhys opens the doors in my next post it'll be a new chapter. I left it there just so the time skip wouldn't leave that much of a gap.

    Scene UpdateThe Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office and Police Academy is now officially open thanks to our resident detective. The whole group unpacks the cars and brings their gear inside, following Rhys and Grigs as they clear out the few revenants lingering in the lobby. The two then decide that getting the lobby secure is probably the most important besides getting the locker room functional. Rhys finds out that the locker rooms are down the East hallway and takes six people with him while the rest barricade the west and north hallways until the group is ready to push in. Once the locker rooms are secure, the gym entrances are barred off for another time. The group can then relax slightly, take care of their wounds, and take those showers that they desperately need.

    Scene Update With daylight brings new dangers. The blizzard had rolled in overnight, leaving the group trapped in a building with only a small fire to keep them warm. The food supply that they got at the general store is dwindling rapidly, especially with the new mouths to feed. The new priority has become the generator. With electricity comes heat and a better chance at survival. But something has been amiss in that station...something old and dark, lurking in the shadows, waiting for it's moment to strike. Beyond the barricades are monsters of all kinds and the group will have to fight to clear it out or risk being killed before the snow thaws.

    In order to be more efficient and cover more areas the group will split up.

  • I'm not even going to bother coding this but I'll add in some new monsters once I get on my PC.

    Lekiel Lekiel and Epiphany Epiphany you guys are gonna have to clear some revenants and shadow people.

    Chise_Robin_ Chise_Robin_ and Lakyr Lakyr you guys gotta fight some vampires. You can have James become enthralled at this point and if you want more people to come help you just yell out for it. Either the group in the rec room or the office space should be able to hear you. If you choose not to have James become enthralled at this point there is another opportunity when Nik and Rhys come back from getting gas.

    Update There are two twenty-four hour days until the event starts. Everyone that is taking part in the event needs to be done with their area (have their monsters killed or the room heavily barricaded) by the 15th of October. Once the event starts you will need to cite the name of the event somewhere towards the top of your post to differentiate between the event and what is happening back at the station. Another reminder that once your character has been freed of their nightmare they have the opportunity to view others dreams. Alternatively they can 're-materialize' in a center room where you do not have to post until the last day of the event.

    The people who are not participating in the event have extra time to loiter about in the police station. You can kill more monsters, talk to the other characters there, or simply not post until the last day of the event. By the 1st of November, whoever has not participated in the event will roll up in the extra car outside the mansion. From there, there will be a relocation event.

    Update With supplies low, the group has no choice but to set off into the harsh winter in hopes to gather supplies. Those who stay behind are tasked with holding camp until the majority comes back with enough resources to last them the rest of the winter. What the group doesn't know is that there's a certain evil on the horizon and an all too cozy and convenient place for them to rest and get their barrings.

    Transportation has been listed, if you wish to move cars feel free to let me know and I'll switch it up a bit more. Everyone not in the event will chill out for a bit as mentioned in the last update. We will have two days to write about being in the mansion. You can take this time to have your characters shower, change clothes, get a good meal, and eventually sleep. Once the event ends there will be a relocation so make sure your characters grab their belongings before heading out. We will not be returning to the Police Station. I'll make a post tomorrow afternoon about having the people in the event move. The drive there will be really quick (so it doesn't really matter what car you hop into the list in the fold out here is just a sort of suggestion) and will last a post before it's time skipped to where we pick up Penny before moving again. If you have any questions about how the event will work please don't be afraid to shoot me a PM or comment about it in OOC.

    We are now in the hotel, this is what is going on, my dears. This is a rest basically (then kidnapping happens), but there's still stuff going on. Props to BELIAL. BELIAL. for being an ace with these descriptionas.

    Explore the hotel, nab some hopefully not expired bullshit from the minibars, have a ghastly good time:

    Within the rooms that the survivors find themselves in are tiny slips of paper—warnings, even, to the most active spirits within the halls of the inn. The author of these notes is unknown, but the scrawl is rushed and smudged a bit, as if made in haste. While majority that roam these halls are harmless and confused, there are 4 specific ghosts that are regularly seen, or should be avoided.

    Note: these spirits, along with the other harmless ones, are not bound to any specific floor. The floors they died on are their haunting grounds, but the entire Inn is their play area.

    1st floor ghost: WILLIAM (BOWLER HAT GHOST)

    William is a particularly nasty ghost, in that once you invoke his attention he gets quite violent. Otherwise, he simply walks along the walls—or rather, floats. William is an elongated person, reaching 7.5 feet tall.
    He carries a cane that taps along the ground (and in a way, signals his presence). A thunderous tapping, it’s best to stop moving altogether when you hear him coming.

    You can look at William, but do not let him look at you. Avoiding eye contact sends him away, and off he’ll tap. If he catches you looking at him up close, he’ll string you up and let you hang. That’s usually his modus operandi.

    2nd floor ghost: THE BRIDE

    The Bride is a harmless spirit, which like William, is only angered if you invoke her attention.
    She wanders the second floor or looks out from the balcony in certain rooms. For the most part, she’s benevolent and observant.
    She may help wayward visitors find their way, or give them gifts.
    The only way to anger her is to insult her and her dress. She’s very sensitive over weddings and romance, which will either bring her to tears or to anger (it’s a coin toss).

    Her room number was 206, but she tours the surrounding rooms that her bridal party stayed in when she was alive.

    3rd floor ghost: GRACE

    Grace is a nasty she-devil of a child. She’s a trickster, and mostly ambivalent but fairly chaotic. She lingers behind doorways and around corners, watching. She’s mostly enchanted and entranced by men, single or married. Women she could care less for. Grace seeing a man will result in her seeking him out and trying to seduce him. Any man that spurns her advances will be sought out and murdered. She can be deterred by salt and iron.

    Grace gets violent quickly. Authoritative women will scare her off for a time, until she summons the courage to come back again.

    4th floor ghost: BOB THE BLOB

    Bob the blob is… well… not entirely a spirit. It’s somewhere in-between and can get extremely violent. I don’t have much to say about Bob, except to avoid him completely. Loud noises can attract the blob, and I’ve found that regular warding does it job, but the blob has its way of getting around.
    The spirit of my late daughter was able to fully keep Bob away. Perhaps other spirits have a way of dealing with this entity?

  • I'm posting this a little early just in case I can't get it up in time. These NPCs are also in the lore tab. Feel free to control them however you see fit, the extra Wild Ones can be killed, however the NPCs with names will escape with the people taken hostage. That list will also be posted probably later tonight or tomorrow.

    There’s no mistaking him for anything but the man in charge, a sinister smile accompanying the array of weapons hung from the best across his chest. he’s the one responsible for gathering the crew of raiders and wild beasts together after the world fell apart, his orders that have kept them alive this long. and he believes he’s still the one holding the reigns when he sets them loose on the hotel.​

    His own survival’s always come first, no matter what he’s told the people who chose to follow him. it was an easy choice between his own destruction and joining up with Laslo’s crew, an easy choice between his own life and those he had to sacrifice. he walks close to his side now, loyalty easy to feign when he’s always got a knife at his side, but it’s no lie how much pleasure he takes in joining the raid.​

    Face painted white, red handprint over her eye, there’s just as little mercy in the witch as there is the company she keeps. she casts her spells from the truck outside. ones that lay mostly in controlling the earth itself, making it tremble beneath her, ripping cracks in the hotel before them.​

    Dark haired, dark eyed, he sits at Vira’s side like a loyal beast, watching and observing with no apparent interest in the outcome. few of their own even know much about him, but he’s got magic in his veins too, enchantments woven into weapons and chains passed on to their loyalists.​

    The name given to the cabal of Laslo’s lunatics, they’ve adjusted to the end of the world by shedding the better parts of their humanity. taking more glee in any acts of violence, painting their faces and setting fires behind them once they’ve taken everything worth taking. they come armed with weapons scavenged or cobbled together, bats wound with barbed wire, electric batons that still hold a shock to them, and chains etched with enchantments. despite every appearance of anarchy, in the end they follow orders with a religious dedication, without question or concern.​

  • → aftermath
    In the wake of the attack on the Hampton, the group is left in pieces. Supplies have been decimated, ammo burned through as well as stolen, half their food gone and ransacked. The Hampton is in ruins, half the wall missing and the rest of it swiftly crumbling. And the following are still unaccounted for:​

    → the captured
    Unknown to most of the group, they aren’t dead. Bound in chains, loaded into the trucks like more stolen supplies, they’re driven miles away to the East Oak Veterinary Hospital. From there they’re locked away in old dog kennels, white cement walls and metal chain link doors holding them in. Hung with enough chains and heavy locks to ensure they stay closed. The inside of each one is scrubbed clean, inscribed from top to bottom with anti-magic wards, etched in blood by the possessed witch Caine.​
    The purpose of their capture isn’t initially clear. The man in charge has little to say to them, his Wild Ones offering little more than laughter as they lock them away. It’s not until night falls that it’s made obvious. The sound of human voices laughing and howling at the sky somewhere outside the building, before a prisoner none of them recognize is dragged free from one of the makeshift cells. Someone cries out “where are you taking him?”​
    And someone answers back “It’s feeding time.”​

  • → aftermath
    Most of the Wild Ones are dead, those that aren’t are scattered and wounded. The monsters that held them beneath their heel have been slaughtered and stripped from the earth, and the group’s lost members have all managed to escape with their lives. Even if some are in worse shape than others. They leave the lot on fire, taking their own before setting off to regroup and recuperate.​
    → relocation
    Once reuniting with the rest of the group, they are quick to move out to a better location. They pile into the new cars salvaged from the raiders and load the wounded into the stolen RV. Detouring off route 9 onto Main Street, they settle in quickly at a Lowe’s Home Improvement, hoping for a chance to catch their breath. Offering a few beds, couches, and plenty of supplies to try and fortify the place for now. It’s located directly across from a Wegman’s, a grocery store with a pharmacy within that offers an opportunity to try and resupply from what they’ve lost.​

    The Lich stuff will come more into focus as the chapter continues, I just wanted to get this all up so people know what's going on currently and what is projected to happen. Just a fair warning there's going to be some zombie weirdness in this chapter and I'll post a thing about reanimated dead but they're more like revenants just easier to kill.

    ░ CHAPTER FOUR ░
    The Lich

    When dawn breaks, the group finds themselves facing the threat of being snowed in thanks to the worsening winter storm. Electing to move on to a more suitable shelter, the group heads out towards what’s left of McGuire Air Force Base. What they find is a group of survivors already holed up in what used to be a section of base housing. An area already fenced off and with a guard station in place, it’s only become more fortified since the end of the world. Old military vehicles used to help barricade the walls, a volunteer always present on the wall with guns at the ready. Within the walls, they’ve tried to hold onto the remnants of civilization, people still trying to create homes in the apartment buildings, while playgrounds sit rusted and abandoned. Food, ammo, and medicine are bartered for in the remains of an old store within the center of the complex.
    Those already hidden behind those walls might not welcome the new group with open arms, but they do welcome them when there are still enough who can’t stomach leaving them out there to face the danger that’s been sitting on their doorstep for months now.​

    It began much like it did in New York. At the beginning of December, a few miles away in what was left of the army base Fort Dix, the ground began to fracture. Surrounding buildings shaking and some beginning to crumble as the earth ripped apart. From beneath its surface, a monolith began to rise, a tower made of stone and ice that brought winter with it. At it’s source, was the demonic entity that crawled out of hell with a score of undead at its beck and call.​

    Centuries ago, the Lich was a human necromancer who simply craved too much power. Despite his attempts to cheat death, eventually Hell claimed him, corrupting his spirit over time with all the torments it possessed. He was twisted and turned into a demon, one that now possesses the combined power of both. He sits somewhere within the rising monolith, the image of a desiccated corpse with a ice crown, intent on claiming some piece of the crumbling earth as his new kingdom.
    He carries no reliance on vampires to do his bidding, and as such there are fewer present. Instead reanimating the dead to serve his will and utilizing hell hounds to chase down those who have tried to escape his clutches.​

    • Prophets are welcome to have any visions regarding the lich or the monolith. If you are unsure of what to include in a possible vision just slide me a PM.
    • The lich is a demonic entity, on the same level of a red-eyed demon, though its unique nature presents itself with ice blue eyes instead. This means blessed and afflicted may potentially be aware of it’s energy as well.

    Reanimated Corpses

    Weak and lethargic, Reanimated Corpses are the creation of a demonic entity, known as the Lich, that emerge from the frozen earth in "endless" hordes.

    Due to their decrepit appearance, many are without flesh, they may seem to be dismissable at first; however, they have an impressive amount of health. While most of their attacks are slow and predictable, they may surprise by suddenly lunging and performing a quick swipe with their arms. Some of them only have the ability of vomiting onto a person to inflict damage. The most dangerous variant, however, are those which pose as normal frozen corpses and, once they are approached, explode into a myriad of maggots, that infest and burrow into anything that's living nearby.​
    DETAILS
    • Aren't very stealthy, when they emerge from the ground they tend to make a lot of noise.
    • They feel no pain and because of this, their physical strength far exceeds that of any living human.
    • Although they are super strong, they lack the speed that most living beings do.

    HOW TO KILL
    • Using any Ice Elemental Magic or Enchantment is ineffective, so fire is the way to go.
    • Physical damage will not cause them pain, however it can incapacitate them for a short while.
