"Growf!"
This is the story of a survivor discovered in the Wastelands by a woman in a post apocalyptic Earth. Their meeting comes shortly after he was beaten near to death by cold hearts (bandit scum) with chains, clubs and boots. He escaped by breaking free and making it to the edge of a ravine with a river below. The gang had switched to the use of ranged weapons. Having no choice he jumped.
The woman found him clinging to a dead log and unconscious. He was too big to lift or even drag far. But he had caught the attention of a crocodile. Her recourse was to tie the log off to the horn on the saddle of her horse. She sat on the man to keep the log between him and the ground as much as possible and had her horse start dragging. Once they were far enough away, she tried to wake him up.
He was barely conscious but able to follow some very simple instructions and managed to help her get him on her horse. He was too much weight (stands 6’7”), but they didn’t have too far to go.
Upon arrival the man had already lost consciousness. But some of the people instantly started joking about her “finding herself a man finally - well, half of one by the looks of him.” She had a reputation for being independent, able to take care of herself, a good fighter if needed.
Setting
Also, some inspiration taken from an old Graphic Audio series called Deathlands by James Axler - though I don’t want to go quite so dark themed.
The Nuclear part of the war is known as Skydark. How long it has been is up for debate. I am looking at 50 years at a minimum. Cars would be rare and in poor condition.
150 would likely be the longest with cars on par with the end of the Mad Max movies. 500 years and Skydark would have all the impact historically of Authurian legend and Merlin. Think Deathsport (starring David Carradine) at best.
Survivor (My Character)
6’7” Caucasian, black hair, blue eyes, perfect teeth. Wearing clothes that must have been discovered in a cache as fabricated cloth is rare. (How rare depends on how long it has been.) Not much in the way of calluses that would suggest that he has any farming experience. Strong, athletic though.
Once he is up and around it will become evident that he is intelligent, but like a lost child. He is missing a lot of knowledge. He is withholding a lot of information. But his eyes study everything. He is pretty cooperative when it comes to working, pulling his own weight, but admits to a lack of experience in many areas.
We should discuss the nature of the romance, slow burn or not.
