Franklin's flight and subsequent drive from the airport had been less than eventful, a bore really. As much as he appreciated the efforts made by the attendants in first class, the whole flight had been sub-par. Yet another tick in the "PRO" column for why he should be purchasing his own private conveyances. Traveling among humans had become and easy thing for him, given several hundreds of years living among them in plain sight and being accepted. He easily mimicked their mannerisms and slanged speech, just to ensure there was no reason for extra attention drawn to him. Despite being acclimatized to the human race, they still annoyed him more than any other species on this planet. Waiting in the airport first class lounge he had a veritable slew, a gaggle, of young women pawing at him. Despite how attractive they were, the reeked of sickly sweet perfumes and desperation. He was thankful to the airport security, that it only took a single glance to have them escorted out of the lounge and back to wait with the rest of the humans.

The gates of Vitae were not nearly as imposing as Franklin would have liked -they certainly did not compare to other colonies he had visited in his many years: Borseti included, before or after it's fall. He had hoped Skye had positioned herself better. They were nothing more than bits of scrap sheet metal welded atop a set of rolling iron barred gates; while no doubt defend-able, if this were the wild west and the worse thing you'd have to worry about is a pack of roaming bandits, not a pack of werewolves! Knowing she would refuse to leave, she was uncannily stubborn on a good day, he had at least believed she had put her defiance into a place that was even slightly worthy. Why am I not surprised....Honestly, I should have expected worse....

Exiting his rental he straightened his waistcoat, buttoning his jacket closed before he started to approach.

"State your buisness." Came a voice from above. Typically the older male human would have been difficult to see in the low light of the early evening but Franklin could pick him out of the shadows perfectly. He smiled slowly, pleasantly even, before answering. his English thickly accented. "I have been invited to meet with your council to discuss a partnership." He paused, seeing the man was unconvinced. "More specifically, one Councilmen William Hendrix." He watched as the man surveyed him and the road behind before retrieving a cell phone from his pocket.

dmVgWlp.jpg

Bart did not like the look of the professional that stood in the dusty road before Vitae. Something felt off, but Bart always had a great dislike for the white collared class. He typed out his message and sent it to Hendrix.

There is a man at the gates claiming to have an appointment with you.
Simple and direct, Bart looked once more at the man in the road, waiting for the Councilmen's reply.

Ashley regarded William once more surprised. "To be honest I was coming to talk to Mac about that," She said, rather insecure. "Things ... got out of hand, and then other things happened. Turns out I need the fiery hunter more than I'd care to admit." She gave a shrug but smiled. "Won't bother you if I'm back?" She asked, genuinely honest. "I'm pretty sure this couch has a bed in it somewhere, if it'll make your uncomfortable, but really she can't sleep indoors alone. She hasn't in years, not unless she's tanked or, in the case of last night, Hypnos coma." She laughed a little. "I left last night to piss her off, didn't count on Hypnos coming to help her. Should have thought that through, I was the only one that suffered for it."

Mackenzie was delighted to not only see Elijah enjoying the food delivered, but knew exactly what it was. She had paused, perfectly still as she listened to the nurse's squeaky shoes pad past the door, not entirely certain what she would have done if the nurse had stepped into the room; but she would have thought of something. Dark eyes flicked to Elijah and a devilish smiled crossed her lips. "Oh you know very well who I've been drinking with, and I'm afraid the bottle of whiskey hidden in that house has been decimated." She set the plate of food on the table next to his bed, returning the cover; at least there he could pick at it as he pleased throughout the night.

She leaned back in the chair, crossing one leg over the other. "You'll be happy to know Ashley caught us out, I thought poor Will was going to die of embarrassment. I had no idea a grown man could blush that deeply, but leave it to Ash to figure it out. She really has no shame; it's lucky you're laid up in here, if the two of you were together on this, Will would have crawled under a rock."

William shook his head. "Wouldn't bother me at all. I'd be happy to have you back," he said with a smile. "Whatever's best for both of you is--" he was cut off as his phone buzzed angrily against the coffee table, the vibrations plainly audible. He brought it up, punching in the passcode and glancing at the text he'd received. It was from Bart:

There is a man at the gates claiming to have an appointment with you.

Will frowned, gears turning in his head, trying to figure out who the mystery visitor could be. Then, it clicked. His jaw clenched. If it was who he thought he was, the man had arrived much more quickly than anticipated... and at not at a particularly good time. He looked up at Ashley-May, an apologetic look on his face. "Sorry, I have to handle this. Council business, apparently."

upload_2017-5-16_19-41-8.jpeg

Elijah grinned as Mackenzie confirmed the identity of who she'd been with. "I see the two of you have finally decided to stop dancing around each other, then," he remarked. Though his tone was as teasing as ever, in truth he was happy for both of them. Mackenzie brought out a side of his partner even he wasn't familiar with... and they both deserved a little bit of happiness. He'd have to remember to thank Ashley-May later for kicking off this little matchmaking campaign... though he did regret not being there to conspire in William's mortification at being caught.

"No offense, but you won't catch me shedding any tears about losing that swill Americans like to call liquor," Eli remarked with vague distaste, before frowning. "Wait. You mean to tell me that you drank that entire bottle yourself? Or did you actually manage the nigh-impossible feat of getting William to drink with you?" He narrowed his eyes at her, the mischievous grin returning. "What could you possibly be doing to that man?"

Ashley-May nodded hearing William start to say he wouldn't mind her return, but her gaze turned to the cell phone on the table and soon followed his retrieval and reading of whatever message he received. She frowned slightly, but nodded, "All good, I need to grab my bags from the barracks anyways." She was standing from the couch, already collecting the discarded ice pack and nearly empty booze bottle. "You want me to send Mac your way?" She had planned on visiting Eli this evening regardless, wanting to check in on his charts and his well being. "I was going to head to the clinic to check on Eli, I could always detour there and send her off?"

dx0HE3H.jpg

Mackenzie rolled her eyes in response to Eli's comments. She was aware she and Will had been awkwardly social up until the last twenty-four hours. Prior to this she hadn't been certain what she felt was or would reciprocated and she certainly wasn't about to leap head first into rejection, what human would have. But after New York, the horn and just everything else that had been flung their way she had given up the coy-game and she was more than happy to find that Will felt the same way, in both regards.

She gave him slight frown, tilting her head aside she he questioned the alcohol, "First of all, I hate American whiskey, but it gets the job done." She raised a finger, but instead of raising a second on, she simply pointed at him. "What do you mean it's impossible to get Will to drink?" This she was honestly confused at this question. "All I had to do was show him the bottle and he was all in."

William hesitated for a moment. If the visitor was Franklin, then it might be best for him to not see Mackenzie in an inebriated state. That would be a less than ideal start to negotiations. He'd have a hard enough time keeping himself composed with his own buzz. Then again, he needed Mac to know he was here to avoid her bumping into him unexpectedly.

"If you don't mind, let her know that I'll be meeting a visitor from up North, like we pitched to the Council," Will said. He hated not being completely forthright with Ashley-May, but there was little time to explain and he wasn't entirely sure how much Mackenzie had told her. Will looked back at his phone, tapping out a quick reply to Bart: Be right out

"Thanks again, Ash," Will said, quickly darting to his room to throw on a new shirt before stopping by the bathroom to rinse his mouth and splash cool water on his face. He seriously doubted it would be enough to completely prevent a vampire from detecting the scent of alcohol on him, but he had an ulterior motive. Mac's words from days ago sounded through his mind: If he believes I've chosen Ashley, or anyone else for that matter, things might not go the direction I, we, want.

With that, he was out the door and headed for the front gate.

"First of all, I hate American whiskey, but it gets the job done."

"So does rubbing alcohol, but you don't see me drinking it..." Elijah muttered under his breath. However, Mackenzie's next comment brought him pause. "What do you mean it's impossible to get Will to drink? All I had to do was show him the bottle and he was all in."

Elijah raised both eyebrows, an incredulous smile plastered on his face. "You really have no idea, do you? Two years I've Hunted with that uptight excuse for a man," Elijah started, his tone light. "And you know how many times I've gotten him to touch any kind of alcohol?" He hardly waited for an answer. "I could probably count them on one hand. Each time, it was light beer and he stopped after a bottle, maybe two if he was feeling particularly 'adventurous'. I got him to take a shot with me once," he weakly held up a single finger for emphasis. "And that was after both of us nearly died." He held up a hand. "Crossroads Demon stuff. Long story."

Eli shook his head, his tone slowing down some after his near-rant. "I've tried playing wingman for him at bars, tossing beautiful women his way after I played up the whole 'wounded warrior' thing for his benefit. There were more than a few willing candidates, some even offering to buy him drinks... and nothing. He turned them away. Every time."

He sighed, smiling whimsically. "You, Miss Canonach, must be something truly special."

GxQZJgl.jpg

"Gotcha." Ashley-May nodded as Will explained what message to relay to Mac when she saw her. She wasn't privy to the finer details, but she knew at least the visitor was a vampire and he was from the nest Mac had been working with or was he the nest master? She couldn't recall exactly, but she knew either way Mac would be on edge about it all. As Will went off to ready himself, Ash stepped into the kitchen to clean up the items she picked up from the living room. Ice packs back in the freezer, she just dumped the rest of the whiskey; no need for Mac to finish it off, glasses in the sink. She contemplated clearing the rest of the dishes, but decided she would inform Mac first.

Will had already left by the time Ash was stepping out of the house and heading for the Clinic.

dx0HE3H.jpg

Mackenzie listened with an entertained smile on her lips as Elijah ranted on and on about William not drinking. At first she thought he was over exaggerating, but by the end of his rant it became clear he was telling the truth. Slowly but surely her smile faded as Eli continued from simply attempting to get the man to drink to full on women throwing themselves at him for the honor of getting him to have a drink.

While she understood Eli had mean every word he said as a compliment, Mackenzie was mortified. She attempted to smile but beneath the surface panic was rising. She adored Will with every part of herself. She knew the man made her reconsider things she never would have thought through before. He made her better and she was the complete opposite to him. She made him do things he wouldn't typically do, and they certainly were not good. Beyond the drinking and flirtatious behavior, he had threatened gods because of her, gone to New York and trapped by the horn to keep her safe.

Twice in one day she was being formally address, though this time it wasn't pleasant. "Well.." She cleared her throat, forcing a smile as she rose. "I need. I ." She was moving the chair back to where it had been. "You should get some rest." She didn't look back to him, as she opened the door. "Good night, Elijah." She stepped out into the hallway, hoping the rising fear would die down. She could hear the nurse down the hall speaking to another patient, the last thing she wanted was Eli to get caught with the food so she hurried to the door and out into the growing night.

"Hey!" She heard Ashley call as she came clear of the door. "Will says he's meeting with your friend from up North." Mac looked to her partner and nodded. Without saying a word she started heading towards the front gates and command tent, assuming that would be where Will would take Franklin to talk.

dmVgWlp.jpg

Bart's phone buzzed as it received William's reply. He took a quick glance at it and smirked, stuffing it back into his pocket he looked to the well dressed man. "You wait right there, he's coming to meet you." Bart had since climbed down from the top of the wall, and opened the gate enough to walk through, leaving the 'visitor' to lean against the hood of his expensive looking car. He was delighted to see the man looked less than impressed with the message.

William approached the front gate, nodding to one of the sentries atop the wall. The gate was opened slightly, allowing Will to step through. He saw Bart waiting alongside another man: mid-to-late 40s, dark hair; the man was well-dressed. He exuded an air somewhere between regal and standoffish. Without being told, Will was already quite sure who he was looking at. Taking a deep breath, Will approached. "William Hendrix. Nice to finally meet you in person," he said politely, before turning to the guard captain. "Thank you, Bart," he said, adding a surreptitious wink for the favor the man had already paid him earlier.

"If you'll follow me, we can discuss matters in the Command Tent," William said, gesturing toward the gates. "We can make arrangements for your vehicle."

upload_2017-5-16_21-12-26-jpeg.311977

Elijah noticed the halfhearted smile at first, bringing a slight frown to his face. In the moment of silence following his attempted compliment, he began searching for a way to approach the subject when Mackenzie stood up, stuttering out an excuse to leave before bolting from the room. "Mac!" he called after her to no avail, heedless of Nurse Sandy hearing him.

The door shut behind her. Eli sat in silence, staring blankly at the threshold. What had he said to scare her off like that? He was supposed to be the one who knew how to tell women what they wanted to hear. Instead, Mackenzie acted as if she couldn't escape fast enough. Was it his mention of other women? He doubted it, but Elijah had rarely felt so clueless. And in his current state, he could hardly chase her down and in order to get an explanation. He just wanted to be sure he hadn't compromised her relationship with Will in some way. He'd never forgive himself if something he said drove a wedge between them.

Sighing, Elijah deflated into his bed, hand reaching toward the table and the plate of food it held.

Franklin stood as he saw a man approaching, himself and the gate guard had been standing in complete silence the entire him he'd been waiting, and he certainly would not have preferred it any other way. The man introduced himself as the one from the phone and he noted that his own name was not used: he knew this man and Skye had not told the remainder of the Colony that he would be arriving. Silver eyes flickered to the gate opening behind Hendrix before looking back to them, he had hoped that Skye would have come to greet him, though this certainly was no surprise.

"Mr. Hendrix." He nodded, choosing to continue to ignore the gate guard. "The car can stay here, I won't be staying long after our meeting." He said, turning back towards the driver side, he opened the back seat and removed a black duffel bag before closing the door and locking the car up once more. Franklin was utterly distracted, for the moment, a great deal of scents and noises cascaded around him but there were a few that were very clear to him. There was a wolf near, recently -perhaps only hours ago, that had passed into the gates of Vitae, Hendrix smelt of Skye and alcohol; neither of these really shocked him, but what he was having trouble identifying was an attraction to something within the wall of Vitae, growing ever closer. What ever it was he wanted it. Felt compelled to protect it, save it form harms way. He had his suspicions as to what it could be, but would not be able to tell until he got closer. "Lead the way."

GxQZJgl.jpg

Ashley-May frowned seeing Mac outside the clinic, she had looked upset before she had turned to head the same direction as William. She had thought to stop her, find out what was happening but she had a pang of panic that something was wrong with Elijah. She sped up her casual walk towards the Clinic, passing through the doors she waved to the nurses at the station before slipping into the back. At Elijah's doorway she'd give a quick knock, before turning the handle and opening the door. "Eli?" She called out cautiously: while she hoped the man was well, she didn't want to walk in on him having bandages changed and what have you; Eli was not on her list of embarrassment casualties.

dx0HE3H.jpg

Mackenzie did not feel any better after leaving the Clinic, she had hoped being out of the building would help quell her sudden need to run, to get out from the wall and just leave. If anything it was only getting worse. She had every intention to finding Will and holding him: he had managed to make this feeling disperse the last time it had risen but Ashley informed her that Franklin had arrived and she knew she could do nothing to free herself of it for now.

She had turned to head towards the gate, and as she passed through the main parking lot she saw her car. Hand traveled to her back pocket to touch the keys Will had deposited there, she had a brief moment of consideration that she could just run, but dismissed it. She was drunk, or very nearly that, and she couldn't abandon Will to Franklin alone. She felt guilty, selfish, for wanting to be near Will. She bypassed the car towards the gate to see them slightly ajar. She paused and glanced the opposite direction uncertain if the two had already gone to the tent or not, she decided to wait here, knowing Bart would not leave the gates open for long.

William nodded to Bart before turning to lead the way through the gates. He considered himself lucky that the guard captain trusted him enough not to run the typical battery of tests on Franklin. Passing through the gates and sparing a quick glance over his shoulder to make sure the man was following, Will stopped in his tracks when he saw Mackenzie standing just clear of the gates, beyond the parking lot.

He knew there was no way she was sober, but he wasn't going to send her away. Besides, she was the one who actually knew what made the vampire tick. Will made eye contact with her, giving Mac a smile -- a small one, and brief enough to hopefully avoid Franklin's attention -- before gesturing her over.

upload_2017-5-16_21-12-26-jpeg.311977

Elijah looked up at the sound of his door opening again, hoping that Mac had changed her mind and returned to talk. Instead, he heard Ashley's voice as she peeked her head inside. "Well hello, Ms. Hash," he said, not managing his typical cheer in his deflated state.

"I'm just hard at work drowning my sorrows in these fine delicacies," he said, half-joking this time, as he gestured lightly to the dish at his bedside. "Care to join me?"

Franklin followed alone behind Hendrix as he led the way into Vitae, calculating eyes were looking over the interior for the first time since the colony had been established. He had often wondered what was within the walls, truly within them. He bypassed the gate guard and the grimace he received as a his welcome. He was aware of Hendrix pausing for but a second before he immediately saw what the hunter was looking at. Skye. He paused, watching her carefully. She was the thing he could sense, the thing he was being drawn to and now he understood why. He had been in the presence of Oracles in the past, had even killed a few in his day, long ago when it was a blood sport of the supernatural.

He was moving, quickly. Duffel bag was dropped at the feet of Hendrix as he passed him, heading directly for Skye. She didn't move, didn't back down, and he knew she never would. She had been focused on the hunter as he approached, but the second her eyes met his he could see the anger and defiance; exactly as they had been the last day he had seen her. Hands raised slipped into her hair on either side of her face, tilting her head back so he could regard her carefully. Orcale. Injured. Drunk. Hendrix. The first of these he knew there was no changing; not without killing a god and it had been a very long time since anyone had accomplished it. The second and third he knew she would recover from. The final on the list would likely prove the most difficult, pushing her too far one way or another always resulted in disaster. "Qu'avex-vous fait?"

He watched her eyes flicker away before turning to him and answer. "Rien." He didn't need to look to see who she was looking at.

"Prophète, voyant, n'est pas rien. Que Dieu?"

"English. Hypnos."

"À qui on vous protéger?"

"English."

"Who were you protecting?" Once more her eyes drifted away to the hunter, he was aware the man was close enough to listen, and she clearly wanted him to hear and understand their conversation.

"Another hunter," She answered finally, he watched her carefully and when he didn't say any more she continued. "I'm not going back in the cage."

GxQZJgl.jpg

Ashley frowned hearing Eli's rather sadly toned voice, so far from his typical demeanor. She stepped further into the room and closed the door behind her. She glanced to the plate, the very same Mac had piled high with food for the man back in the house. She stepped to the edge of his bed to collect his chart and glance over it briefly before looking at the various monitors. Nothing seemed out of place and, setting the chart back, she dragged the chair in his room closer. "Can I ask what sorrows you have to drown?"

She knew depression was common for those that were severely injured and made to bed rest, though typically it took longer for it to set in. She glanced to the plate after his offer, and while she wanted to resist and leave him to the rich food she had an insane hunger that she continued to tell herself was just due to stress and a few long days, not because some angel told her otherwise. She reached out to snag one of the pastries before leaning back in the hair to eat it contently, "I'll make sure Mac brings you more."

dx0HE3H.jpg

Mackenzie had seen William coming through the gate with Franklin directly behind him, she noted his smile but didn't have time to respond. She knew this was coming, knew that he would be here; she had called him after all, but she had thought she would have been better prepared, or at the very least not drunk. She was suddenly nervous, terrified even as she watched Franklin head towards her. It had been years since she had broken away from the Nest and him, and she had thought she could resist, control things but it was suddenly clear how wrong she had been. He was suddenly standing before her forcing her head back and she did not fight him.

She answered obediently, at first. Glancing to William, still standing at a slight distance she continued to reply, but insisted they spoke what Will would understand. Her heart was racing, she had told him no, denied him the cage. The panic she had felt rising while speaking to Elijah only heightened while Franklin watched her in silence. After what felt like an eternity the vampire laughed and released her, taking a step back a smile on his lips.

"Do you plan on killing my nest?"

She blinked at the question, confused but she slowly shook her head. "No."

"Good." He said and turned back to William, returning the few steps to where he'd dropped the bag he had been carrying. "I assume our meeting will not be taking place outdoors." Franklin watched Hendrix with the expectation he would continue to lead, leaving Mackenzie staring in disbelief.

Unbeknownst to them, after Bart had let William and his guest through the gates, he sent a text to Brendan to notify him the "Hunter from the North" had arrived.

Solomon smiled as Sandy entered, and with a chuckle the incapacitated man said, " She's and old friend who had come to check up on me once she heard I had been hurt. Honestly I was surprised to find she had made her way here. As for food.... well I'm honestly not that hungry. I haven't been moving around as much as I would like so I think I'm still good. I'll just sleep and hope to recover quickly." Solomon hoped that there was something Sibeal could do to speed up his healing process further, but he didn't want to push his luck. Pan would get him up and moving soon enough.

Hypnos's wards reacted as a supernatural creature, Franklin, entered Vitae. There was a slight pulse of power as it acted as a sort of ping that woke Hypnos from his slumber in Erebos. While it was sort of disorienting for him to be woken up it didn't take him long to respond. After making sure Pasithea was still resting and recovering Hypnos grabbed his horn and cane and disappeared to the mortal world. Rather than actually manifesting Hypnos just circled the vampire cautiously. Monster minds were harder to crack, but he would slowly begin pushing his way into Franklin's mind. The only side effect being slight drowsiness as Hypnos began his efforts of tunneling into the monsters mind. Though because the sun was yet to set it would take more time than and effort than normal.

William spun around as he heard the bag hit the ground -- despite Franklin's quick pace, the man seemed to move gracefully and without noise -- toward Mac. Will's hand was reaching into the back of his waistband, wrapped around the grip of the revolver holstered underneath the hem of his shirt before the situation even fully registered in his brain. The alcohol had done little to dull his reflexes. He stood, muscles tense as Franklin approached Mac, slowing his pace at the last second to take hold of her face, tilting her eyes up to meet his own. Will's jaw clenched, his grip on the pistol growing tighter.

He knew that the handgun -- especially one loaded with silver-plated bullets -- would do very little to stop a determined vampire. Even after the threat of danger from Franklin had passed, his hand stayed in place. He hated the way Franklin approached Mac, placed his hands on her. The possessiveness of it, the presumptuousness of it. Mackenzie had told him that the two had never been "together", but it did little to calm him as he listened to the two exchange words. He did his best to follow the French, but was hopelessly lost. Nonetheless, he appreciated Mac's insistence that Franklin speak in English for his benefit.

"Who were you protecting?" Will saw Mackenzie's eyes drift in his direction.

"Another hunter." He returned her gaze, remaining silent. The mention of a cage brought a frown to his face, but before he had any chance to question its meaning, Franklin released her with an almost jovial laugh. Will's hand slipped slowly away from the pistol.

"I assume our meeting will not be taking place outdoors." Will shook his head, quickly attempting to regain his composure after the tense moment.

"This way," he remarked, somewhat stiffly. He gave Mackenzie an anxious glance before turning to lead the way toward the Command Tent.

"I'll make sure Mac brings you more."

Elijah smiled. "Your generosity knows no bounds. And to answer your question, there are a few. This little flesh wound," he said, gesturing with his hand toward the bandages wrapped around his midsection, "...has me laid up and completely useless to anyone out there."

"Secondly, Mackenzie just came by to visit. I... scared her off, somehow. I don't know what it was. We were discussing her and Will -- well done, by the way -- and I was telling her some of the stories about us Hunting together. How terrible he was with women and alcohol. And by terrible, I mean avoiding them both like the Plague. And just like that... she acted like she couldn't get away quick enough. No explanation whatsoever," he said, shaking his head.

He sighed, his tone taking a deliberately melodramatic turn. "And if that wasn't dreadful enough, the lovely Nurse Sandy has proven completely impervious to my charms." In truth, he'd barely said more than a few (conscious) words to her the entire time he was laid up. However, he felt the need to balance out his very real concerns about the Mackenzie situation with some humor. Will called it a defense mechanism, he called it natural.

Sandy was surprised to hear that Solomon was not hungry, but she nodded and gave both him and his friend a pleasant smile. "Alright then, you rest well tonight and I will be back to check up on you in the morning." With that she have Solomon a quick wave before stepping out of his room to leave the two with their privacy.

She soon headed down the hall towards Elijah's room, last patient to check on before she went home for the night.

Franklin was aware of Hendrix's reaction to his approach to Skye, could sense the man's hesitation while they had spoken. Even now that he was 'relaxed' he knew Hendrix and she were partnered in some way, though neither had made much indication as to how close; it didn't matter to him much. He collected the duffel he had discarded and was soon following Hendrix once more.

He was mildly aware of the drowsy feeling after Skye had spoken about the god she was Oracle to, he could only assume the god had come to investigate him and why he was near the Oracle. Hypnos would find little evidence that Franklin was a threat to anyone unless provoked, though it would be certainly clear on his mind that he had ever intention of wanting Skye to return to the nest and his home in the North.

GxQZJgl.jpg

Ashley listened with interest as Elijah recounted why he felt as poorly as he did, the first being his wound. No surprise there; he was feeling useless and she knew exactly why. He was no different than Mac when she was injured. Any normal hunter, one that came about like herself, would take the time to heal, mend and be healthy again before returning to hunting, but something with legacy hunters made it impossible for them to do nothing while they healed. She thought she may have a solution for that but he was soon bringing up his conversation with Mackenzie.

The woman's terrified features soon made sense and as Ashley finished up the pastry she had pilfered from Eli's stash she was nodding knowingly. "You scared the dickens out of her." She said with a small smile, but rolled her eyes at the comment about Sandy. "Can't help you with that one," She said honestly. "I'm not sure if she's even married, that girl flirts with the best of them and goodness knows where is interest's lie."

Though Ash was soon returning to the topic of her partner. "Don't worry about Mac, she'll get over it. You were talking about Will, and she's been drinking. So she either learned something about him she didn't know or figured out something about them together she didn't like. She'll sober up and get over it, and if she sober's up and tries to do anything but, I'll be turning her back his way. Those two are perfect for each other." She paused and looked to him mischievously. "I had no idea Will could get so embarrassed and so awkward so quickly." She laughed.

Mackenzie was entirely thrown off by Franklin's change in demeanor. She had expected a fight, an argument when she mentioned the cage. She had very nearly panicked and ran when he was asking if she had intentions of killing his nest but the man had laughed. Her gaze had turned to William's with concern and uncertainty as the two men started towards the command tent once more. She had no intention of leaving Will alone with Frank but a familiar presence had appeared near by. She couldn't see the god but she could certainly feel him there. She waited until Will and Franklin were further away before she spoke quietly.

Hypnos. she called. Don't do anything to him, we need his help. She wasn't certain what had drawn him near; the last they spoke earlier he was going to leave her with understanding about what she had seen him and Hades discussing.

Brendan had received Bart's text as he was about to settle for the first time in twenty-four hours. Of course the Councilmen's Hunter from the North would arrive just then; it didn't look like there would be much rest of him yet. He climbed from bed and started to dress, wanting to meet this hunter and their potential savior.

After Chase had left the mess hall he'd ended up doing errands around the colony, something that had to be done but had been ignored with the latest events. And afterwards he'd headed back to the barracks to find Joe out like a light on his cot, Chase stared at him with a low huff momentarily. They should really petition for some sort of housing, the cots weren't the most comfortable beds out there. "Hey!" He'd call out suddenly, reaching down and giving Joe a shake, startling the man who bolted upright.

"Wha- What is it? The wolves!?" Joe was rather disheveled and confused much to Chase's humor. Despite the bravado his father might give it was all for naught in those first moments after waking. Chase just chuckled as he took a seat on his own cot, a hand up telling his father to relax. Joe did with a groan, putting his face in his hands where they rubbed harshly at his face whilst he attempted to fully gather himself. Joe had clearly been trying to catch up on the lack of sleep from the night before.

"Your secret agent ratted you out old man." Chase knew that his father hated the nickname, and he'd only use it in specific cases where there was reason for him to be annoyed or angry with the older man. Joe took a deep breath before finally sitting up straight and looking at his son with a light scowl. "And here she seemed like such a nice girl, I should have known she had the devil in her. Throwing me under the bus, and I liked her too."

Chase handed Joe a bag of things he'd picked up during errands, mostly essentials such as toothpaste and the like. Joe took the bag and plopped it on his cot and digging through it and Chase simply watched, "I should have told her to change her target and find someone for you instead."

"You hold your tongue and do no such thing if you want to keep it." His tone was rather neutral. Joe stopped sifting as he found his prize, pulling out a bottle of Tylenol and popped one in his mouth. "We've had that conversation before. Your mother was the only woman I will ever truly love, end of story." Not that it would be the end of story if Chase had anything say about it, but he knew to give it a rest for at least a few weeks before bringing it back up or Joe would get irritable. If they were settling down in Vitae and Joe was trying to set him up then Chase was going to play that game too, there were many more fish in this lake for Joe than himself after-all.

Joe flashed a look at his watch, "I'm going to shower and then I'm supposed to help out at the armory. You good?" Chase waved Joe off, and the other man stood and headed for the public showers leaving Chase to consider having a nap of his own.

William walked stiffly toward the Command Tent. It was unnerving, having Franklin behind him with Mac as they moved in silence. Though much of the tension had dissolved after Franklin's unexpected reaction, Will nonetheless had the feeling that every movement he made and word he spoke was being analyzed by the den master.

As they drew near the Command Tent, Will slowed his pace, turning to regard Franklin. "I expect other members of the Council will arrive to speak to you personally. They've been briefed only that you're a Hunter," he said, keeping his tone low. With that, he pulled the flap aside and stepped into the tent.

Elijah nodded his quiet understanding as Ashley explained the likely reasons behind Mac's sudden escape. The reaction certainly seemed more severe than she was letting on, but he'd only known MackenIe for a few days. Ash had years to learn her ways. In any case, Eli took comfort from the woman's confidence.

Her last comment quickly pushed the unpleasant subject aside, however. William's embarrassment had that effect.

He grinned. "Mac said you caught the two of them in the act. Give me details. How red did he turn? Did he try to play it off? Run away? Mac didn't seem to mind by comparison."

The decision was made for him when Chase caught a slightly familiar scent on the breeze entering the barracks. There was a small loose end that needed tying up. So he stood and exited, eyes roaming from right to left until he spotted the bright red haired girl from the other day. She was walking away from him, back turned, so Chase was forced to jog to catch up. Once he neared her he gave a whistle to get her attention before he arrived, "I don't think I ever caught your name before." The man spoke, his breathing only a little quicker than usual from the brisk jog. He didn't stop moving once he'd caught up, not attempting to impede wherever she was going but simply chat along the way. "I figured we should have a chat, now that there isn't a bickering crowd of people around."

Franklin nodded to William's 'warning', though he was not surprised in the least that William and Sky had not alerted the rest of the council about his impending meeting with the two, or that they had made it a guise that he was something other than what he truly was. He followed behind Hendrix into the tent and glanced around to the sparse amount of furniture and decor. "I would have imagined if you had told the Council whom you were meeting with in truth they would have prevented it at all costs." He admitted and waited for Skye to join them, watching her follow along quietly. As she moved to pass him he held out the black bag in her direction. "You left rather quickly, and didn't take all of our possessions."

He watched her as she examined the bag before taking it, satisfied he turned his attention back to William. "Given the Council's lack of knowledge I would imagine you do not have much to negotiate with that I would find.. .appealing." He was stepping to the long table and pulling out a chair to seat himself, unbuttoning is jacket, lest it wrinkle. "I will be honest with you, I came for two reasons. Curiosity and Skye." He paused watching the supposed councilmen.

"I am certain you know her well enough to know she does not lie directly, but favors wording her phrases carefully enough to make it sound like what you want to hear but it is the complete opposite. While I have no reason to doubt you are who you say you are, I would be far more comfortable if we could conduct the rest of the meeting with one from the Council that I do know, and he knows me. I believe Mr. Jack is still a member of the council here, if you would be so kind as to call him to join us." This was not a request but a statement, Franklin had no intentions of listening to anything William or Skye had to tell him without someone he knew could validate it for truth.

Ashley-May's devilish smiled continued. "Not the act, but pretty darn close to it. Living room, high backed chair with two people seated in it." She gave him a wink, no shame whatsoever in her voice. "I think if I had been like thirty minutes longer they would have shed some clothing. I haven't seen someone stammer and blush like that since high school, Hell. Even cornering Chase in the Mess Hall didn't get that kind of reaction." She laughed and leaned back in the chair, patting her thigh. "And he didn't even try and excuse it, that's the best part. Just said hi, like it was nothing. Mac was pissed and she'll get me for it later but she played it all cool so he wouldn't get upset. Too cute."

She gave a little sigh, "I heard him asking Mac if she and I did this sort of thing," she continued with a giggle. "I'm not sure if he was honestly interested or terrified by it, I couldn't see his face."

Mackenzie accepted the bag from Franklin with confusion and dread. She had taken anything she had wanted with her, but clearly he believed she had left somethings behind. Things he thought were important. She moved around the side of the table, opposite of William. As much as she wanted to be near him it would do neither of them good if Franklin was aware of how close they were; she had no doubts that the vampire was aware of a connection already, but she would make him work to dig deeper.

She set the bag down in an empty chair but paused as he went on to comment on her choice of words. She wanted to deny him, but she knew it was the truth; part of who she was. She glanced to Will, trying to read him before speaking quietly. "I can find Brendan," She offered to him uncertain if he had the other Councilmen's number or not -she simply knew she did not.

After Sibeal left Solomon fell into a deep slumber where he dreamt once more of his ancestor. This time the dream was further back in the ancient king's live. In fact it was practically a vision of the day Solomon receiving the divine knowledge from an angel of God. While Solomon didn't have a clue what his ancestor gained he was able to steal a glance at the Ars Goetia, also known as the key of Solomon, as his ancestor began to craft the book. The magical circles he transcribed in the dream didn't make any sense and seemed to be full of redundancies, but nonetheless Solomon did his best to commit the diagrams to memory as he slept.

Hypnos followed the group inside the command tent and simply observed. The sun was setting and soon he would have to perform his duties, but at least he could manifest a lot more of his power than compared to what he could pull off during the day. Quite frankly the only reason he had been able to do anything during the day was because of the stockpile of power he had gathered as he slept for so long. Unfortunately he had burned through most of it thanks to this Colony, but he wouldn't say that it was a waste.

Sibéal Machlachlan Walking down the Alleyway, she'd become startled when she heard the male whistle for her just as he comes from her side, her dagger becoming immediately drawn, he'd look to him with a slight look of fear in her eyes. She knew who he was, she'd even recall communicating with him prior, though, he was a hunter so she naturally didn't trust him. Especially when he chose to run up on her without any form of warning that he was, in fact, approaching her before approaching her, "What is it...?"

Chase had taken notice to the young woman's tense features when he'd neared, that with the drawn dagger and fear in her eyes. Along with the fact that she passed over possibly giving her name and straight to a rather accusing question. And for a moment the werewolf considered that he might not have read her correctly the first time they met, but rolled with it anyhow. The man took a quick glance around to see if anyone was watching the two of them now that weapon had been drawn before coming back to settle on her, or more rather the dagger that was clearly made of silver.

Chase took a step away to keep his distance with a disapproving look, "I can't tell which side of me you're more afraid of." Back at Will's home he thought the girl had picked up on what he was but he couldn't be too sure, he wasn't about to come out and say it if he was wrong. "I know that you are a Witch. You've got nothing to fear from me unless you're out here hexing the people in the colony or something along those lines."

Sibéal Maclachlan She smirked when she saw the male's face more definitely. She didn't exactly know who he was, but rather, what he was. Lowering the dagger, although, she did not re-sheath it. "Well, if you know what I am, please do me a favor and remain silent about it." she exhaled, "After all, they know what you are and look how much Hel you get for it."

"Given the Council's lack of knowledge I would imagine you do not have much to negotiate with that I would find... appealing. I will be honest with you, I came for two reasons. Curiosity and Skye."

Will remained silent. Not the most promising start to negotiations, but he hardly expected Franklin to help them out of the goodness of his heart. The trick would be to find something to make the endeavor worth his while... and nothing was coming to mind. The mention of Mackenzie -- Skye -- didn't encourage him. As far as William was concerned, that particular bargaining chip was off the table. He'd say as much to the Den Master, the Council, or Mackenzie herself if it came down to it, though based on her comment about the cage, he didn't think that would be necessary.

William had noticed as she placed distance between the two of them. He didn't take it personally; he could understand the logic behind it. Mac had already told him that the vampire wouldn't hesitate in targeting anyone close to her... she was trying to throw him off of Will's trail. Still, the knowledge did little to comfort him as he glanced across the table at her anxious features, mystery bag placed in the chair alongside her.

Franklin carried on to remark on Mackenzie's penchant for deception, which Will chose not to comment on. Not out of fear of offending either party; he wasn't sure if the vampire wasn't simply baiting him into leaping to her defense, probing their relationship. Still, he was surprised when Franklin asked for Brendan. He hesitated briefly, eyes flicking to Mackenzie. She unexpectedly offered to fetch the Councilman. Will had retrieved the man's cell phone number two days ago, but nodded nonetheless.

"Please do," he said. He wanted a moment alone with the Den Master... and a moment to remove Mackenzie from his possessive glare. Turning back to Franklin, he said, "We'd like to show you that we're negotiating in good faith."

upload_2017-5-18_21-30-19.jpeg
Elijah's eyebrows raised, his lips quirked as Ashley enthusiastically described the scene. He even shook his head incredulously at one point.

"I heard him asking Mac if she and I did this sort of thing. I'm not sure if he was honestly interested or terrified by it, I couldn't see his face."

Eli chuckled. "Maybe a bit of both?" he said with a devilish grin. "I can't imagine William was the one to make the first move. Mackenzie seems the braver of the two," he joked. "I'm sorry I wasn't there to see it... the man's far too serious. He deserves to be humbled by a bit of good old-fashioned shame. Builds character, I say."

He paused, her previous comment registering. "Wait. What on Earth did you do to poor Chase? And, secondary question, purely for the sake of science you understand..." he said, another suggestive smile appearing. "...is that a common thing for you and Mac?"

dx0HE3H.jpg

As much as Mac didn't want to leave Will and Franklin alone, she knew the Den Master wouldn't even start a conversation that held the words help or Vitae without his demands met. It made her far more anxious to be around Franklin than she had first anticipated. She hadn't seen him in years, and she thought she had got away from his draw and his power, but clearly there was still something residual left behind that made her want to obey. It had been hard leaving the nest and him in the first place, among the most difficult things she had done, and now she feared she would go back willingly.

She nodded to Will slowly watching him closely. She wasn't certain but she felt like he needed her to leave. Between her nerves and the alcohol she couldn't read his expression; though the man was ever stoic when he wanted to be and clearly this was one of those times. She abandoned the bag and headed for the front of the tent, stepping back out into the night to do as she had offered and seek out Brendan.

GxQZJgl.jpg

Ashley-May laughed a little at Elijah's suggestion that Will was both intrigued and terrified of the thought, though she was not at all surprised when Eli inquired it for himself. She gave him sly smile and a quick wink. "Mac and I have always enjoyed ourselves," she started then tisked at him. "But this is not a conversation for a bed-laid man. I can't get your blood pressure up too high, otherwise Sandy will be in here to scold me and send me out." She watched him carefully before leaning in towards him. "I do have you ask you, though: would it be considered common for yourself and Will? For science, right?"

She laughed and then sighed, choosing to evade answering what she had done to Chase; as much as she liked to gossip, especially with someone who seemed to enjoy it as much as she did, there were things she wouldn't comment on. She didn't know Chase well enough to talk about his private life to anyone but his own family. "I do have a favor to ask you," She said, humor slipping slightly, a bit of nervousness etching it's way into voice. "I would ask Mac, but she'd kinda busy. I figured you'd probably know the answer to this, if there is an answer at all. But. Well. What do you know about angelic offspring?" Given Elijah was a legacy hunter, he seemed like he would have the largest resource of quick information. That, and she trusted the man.

mvQIQww.jpg

Franklin continued to watch William as he spoke, agreeing to send Skye to find his requested Councilmen. He suspected they had a far easier means of communication, given he was supposedly another Councilmen himself. He had no doubt that sending Skye away was a tactic of some sort, he simply couldn't fathom the reasoning behind it. He didn't move from his chair as she very clearly hesitated before exiting the tent.

He waited, in silence, for several long moments before he spoke. "Well, Mr. Hendrix. Now that Skye is out of earshot, what is it you have to say to me?" He was amused by the thought of the hunter feeling threatened by him, it was an enjoyable sensation to know that his mere presence could set him off, and what made it all the better was that it had potential to cause a rift between the two. Whatever their partnership may be. "Or is it you have questions? Perhaps about Skye and her time with me in our Nest?"

William kept a straight face as Mackenzie departed, leaving him alone with Franklin. He had wanted nothing more to give her a reassuring smile, but didn't dare break his stoic facade while Franklin was watching. He could feel the vampire's eyes practically boring into him: assessing, calculating. He was the first to break the silence. "Well, Mr. Hendrix. Now that Skye is out of earshot, what is it you have to say to me? Or is it you have questions? Perhaps about Skye and her time with me in our Nest?"

Will felt the urge to rebuke the notion, to proclaim that he wouldn't betray Mackenzie's trust by going behind her back. However, he also knew that would be a mistake. The question was bait. He couldn't deny that he did want to know more about Mac's time with Franklin's brood; he hadn't had the heart to ask her during their meal together for fear of reopening old wounds.

William settled on maintaining his professional, hopefully inscrutable demeanor. "I don't delve into Mackenzie's personal life, Mister Debois," he said, putting the slightest bit of emphasis on her name. "We're here to discuss how we can help one another. I'll be very candid with you: the Pack outside our doorstep could arrive in force any day now. We have few options and are willing to take whatever assistance we can get. I'm not sure what we can offer you in return that you'd be interested in... but I hope you'll keep an open mind."

He paused, leaning forward in his chair slightly. "I understand that you don't want to begin negotiations in earnest without Councilman Jack here. Understandable. However, you and I are both blank slates where the other's concerned. If there's anything you'd like to discuss before Brendan arrives -- or without Mackenzie present -- now's the time."

upload_2017-5-18_23-48-53.jpeg
Elijah laughed out loud at the idea of Ashley-May raising his blood pressure to unsafe levels, bringing a slight bout of discomfort to his abdomen that he nonetheless considered worth it.

"I do have you ask you, though: would it be considered common for yourself and Will? For science, right?"

Eli grinned. "Wouldn't you like to know, Miss Hash," he said with an over-the-top waggle of his eyebrows. "While I would love nothing more than to fuel your personal fantasies, I'm afraid my particular charms are available only to women." He paused. "Lucky women. It's safe to say the same is true for Will."

When Ashley-May broached the next subject, Elijah quickly sensed the change in her demeanor. She was anxious -- slightly so, but noticeable nonetheless. The lightheartedness was gone from her tone. The subject matter in question surprised him, especially for the reaction it evoked. "Well, so far as I know, Angels can't or don't seem to interbreed." He frowned. "Unless you're talking about Angel-Human hybrids: the Nephilim. They're talked about in the lore from time to time, though it's hard to tell how solid the information on them is. They are said to inherit the abilities of their angelic parent, often in an amplified form. They seem to be human in their emotional disposition, however."

Elijah paused, reaching over carefully to take the last beaver tail from Mackenzie's dish. "What's clear is that Nephilim are -- were -- rare... and there's a reason for that. They're feared and shunned by both societies. The lore has several accounts of Heaven's Host learning of a Nephilim's birth and responding... forcefully. They consider them abominations and don't hesitate to slaughter both parents as well as the child." He shrugged. "Take all of this with a grain of salt, mind you. The written accounts are not always completely reliable; I've never seen a Nephilim, nor has anyone in my family line that I know of. I hadn't even met an Angel until Feathers."

Eli frowned, narrowing his eyes at Ash. "Speaking of which -- while I'm more than happy to play the part of professor -- why not bring this up with Alaric? It's safe to say he's the resident expert on these things. And why the sudden interest in them to begin with?"

Chase watched as the girl seemed to recognize him from their very brief encounter, by lowering the dagger though still not putting it away. "Should I take another step back?" He asked, arms folded over his chest and doing so before she could reply. Though from the witches words she seemed to think people knew who he was, what he was. And technically the only one that gave him hell was that asshat angel. "They don't actually know about me, very few do." Of those within these walls only six people knew he was a Werewolf. Which if you ask him was too many, but shit happens. "Which is more or less why I wanted to talk. I wanted to make sure we were on the same page about not speaking about our more personal lives to anyone."

Though it came as a surprise that she wasn't attempting to grill him considering the fact that they didn't know each other, and there was a large number of Werewolves currently planning to take out the colony on the next full moon. Maybe it was why she kept the dagger out. "I see more wisdom in those eyes of yours than you let on. Such wisdom could either hurt or help people."
