Hypnos couldn't help but smile when he saw Mackenzie getting back up. She was coping if not embracing the power given to her. It seemed she was much more suited than his first Oracle, whom he would need to check up on after Pasithea was back with him. Looking down in his hands Hypnos held his horn gingerly like one would hold a grenade except this grenade had the explosive range of a nuclear weapon. Hypnos would wait anxiously until the wards were released then he would send Mackenzie another vision. It would be a vision of serenity. Of the Hypnos embracing Pasithea surrounded by people, office workers, guards, etc; tearing one another apart with Thanatos standing grimly behind him. Then the vision would refocus on a human and or rather the face of a human. It was one of peaceful slumber, a stark contrast to his actions as his body was coming veered in the blood of his co-workers, but one detail would jump out to her. The man's ears were bleeding.

When the time came that Hypnos would release that vision to Mackenzie he could only hope that she would understand and react accordingly. He would only wait a few seconds before launching his attack.

Dayne Matthews

Dayne winced as he was laid out in the clinic and his arm started getting worked on.

With the feeling in his arm gone completely while he was patched up it allowed him

to think back on what had gone down, He had never had such a strong vision that he

was actually got hurt because of it. Whatever happened, he would not be getting rid

of the sound of the womans screams for a while.

One thing he neglected to mention was the thing he had thought when he heard the woman screaming.

Something inside him had wanted to call out for her, calling her "mother".

Shaking his head, he decided the thoughts were best kept for another day.

Instead of dwelling on it, he watched himself get patched up.

An excited shout made him look up as one of the kids he had helped in the clinic came over, looking scared.

With a gentle smile he told the small boy that he would be fine.

William nodded his understanding as Mackenzie laid out the plan methodically. It was remarkable: in the space of just a few minutes, Hypnos had transferred the information to her with a remarkable level of detail, allowing her to make a plan that he wasn't confident he could have replicated even with a full day of surveillance and planning. He began scanning the faces of the Hunters, mentally assessing which one would be best-suited to the task of infiltrating the building first. He had no doubt that Aiden, Thomas, and Bruce were capable enough... but he wasn't willing to trust them with this particular portion of the plan after having known them for all of ten minutes. Likewise, Hendrix wasn't sure how Ashley's skills in this department stacked up. Mackenzie apparently had a "complicated" relationship with electronics and he wasn't willing to risk her regardless. Which only left himself and--

"I've got this," Elijah spoke up, interrupting Will's mental analysis. He walked slowly forward, staring intently at the building Mac had designated.

"You're sure? You know you won't be able to slip any weapons in. Not with that security," William remarked.

Eli chuckled. "And which of us knows how to handle themselves better in that situation?" he asked rhetorically.

Will didn't replicate the smile. "You can't risk fighting your way in. You'll get swarmed."

Elijah rolled his eyes. "Then I'll use my boyish charm if it comes to it." His tone became serious. "Will, I've got this. Get everyone to the back alley and be ready."

William nodded. Eli quickly stripped himself of his weapons, stashing them in his pack. Will took the bag along with his own, gesturing for the others to follow as he crossed the street. Elijah walked down the sidewalk for a way before following suit, heading for the building's set of front doors.

Brendan helped Dayne to the clinic and into the hands of the professionals, hoping he would be clear enough to explain exactly why the boys was here and if he had any visions for him, the colony.  Having an Oracle could improve the colonies odds of living through the coming onslaught; as long as William was successful in his mission day.  If he wasn't, they were all dead and it wouldn't matter.

The nurse, Mildred something, approached Brendan before he could leave, and would detail to her the circumstances of Aurora's arrival to the colony.  He thanked the nurse before going to see the girl, reaching out to touch her hand, see if she was even away. "Aurora?"  He spoke softly, taking a seat at the edge of the bed opposite of her own, an odd sensation of déja vu; he'd been here two days earlier doing much the same with Mackenzie.  "My name is Brendan Jack, I'm one of the council members here in Vitae.  Mildred said that you and your family were on their way to the colony and were attacked....  Did you remember what happened?"

Mackenzie still felt at odds with herself with the new sensations of her gift.  Hard to describe and work around at first she was beginning to understand how to control the "volume" projected by nearby gods.  Hypnos and Thanatos were a dull hum, like an itch in the back of her mind; a constant reminder they were there within proximity.  Pasithea was another matter, the woman howled near constantly, pushing feelings and thoughts onto Mackenzie.  She figured the woman couldn't control it, she didn't blame her but as they traveled across the street and closer to the building it was becoming increasingly hard for Mac to remain focused.

She had been dimly aware William and Elijah had come to a decision between the two of them, if she had been focused she would have protested to send herself or Ashley instead.  Ashley was aware of the disconnect within her partner, Mac was oddly quiet during the men's discussion and even with her odd behavior earlier it was evident she was becoming more and more distant.

The troop would arrive in position and wait for Eli to allow them inside the building, Ashley would take Mac aside, closer to William and speak softly.  "Alright Mac, what's after that?  We know the basement wards, what about upstairs?"  It took Mackenzie several seconds to first understand that Ashley was speaking to her then to acknowledge what was asked.

Dark eyes drifted upwards as though she could see through the steel and concrete walls to where the goddess was held.  "Can't destroy those wards, they're engraved in metal.  We have to get in and walk her out.  I don't know what's inside...."  She winced, another wave of pain and terror washing over her, if Pasithea was attempting to give her any information she couldn't understand it. "Once the blood wards are down Alaric and Hypnos can get into the building, but we still need to get her out of the room." A sudden silence from the goddess she'd turn to face Ash and Will.  "I suggest the team in the basement gives the second team time to get to the right floor, I would assume that these people will know as soon as their wards are down."

Kyle grinned at Alex's compliment. Though he was sure that something was bothering her, he left it alone. She would tell him when she was ready. He rolled his eyes at Alex's teasing. "Aw, darn. And here I was hoping you would appreciate the donuts I bought with my money." When Alex hinted at him sucking at tattoos, he put a hand to his chest in mock hurt. "What could possibly make you think I suck? The fact that I own a tattoo parlour, or the time that I tried to sketch you, but failed. Because let me tell you, I have gotten better since you last saw me."

Alaric watched the Werewolf with pure apprehension as he began to move. Did the man really think he'd be able to contend with an Angel? He laughed at the idea inside his head and looked around them, nodding to himself as he was impressed he whipped this up on such short notice. As though to emphasize to the Werewolf not to move, when Chase moved, part of the ledge ten feet behind him broke away and down the cliff.

"One more thing, sir," he says in a mocking respectful tone. "If I think you're becoming a threat to the colony, I will personally see to it you don't survive," he says, raises a hand, snaps his fingers, and they appear with everyone else in New York. He specifically appeared next to Mackenzie. "Did I miss anything?" he asks with a joking smile, hoping to add a bit of humor to the seriousness of the situation.

Aurora watched the man walk over and sit down across from her and when he asked her name she nodded solemnly. She listened to him intently when he introduced himself. When he asked her if she remembered what happened all she could do was frown and look down, nodding her head slowly. "Yes... I remember," she said, her voice shaky. She reached over and guzzled down half of the glass before putting it back down as she looked at him, trying not to break and become overcome with grief, after all, she was a Hunter, this was how their life normally was.

"My brothers and I were coming up through the forest. We knew you had called for help, so we were worried that coming by car would draw to much attention from whatever the threat was," she starts. "Of course... I guess that's where the error of our calculations came in," she said starting to shake a bit. "We were half a a day out, but it was getting very late, so had decided to set up camp and wait until morning to head back out on our way. We ate dinner and went to sleep. I was the one who heard the strange footsteps out in the trees and woke them up silently. For safety we always slept with our sleeping bags side by side, and I was in the middle," she continues with her story, envisioning everything from memory.

"Upon their waking up they of course heard it too. I had reached down and grabbed the gun I sleep with from behind me and continued to lay there as though I was none the wiser that anything was out there," she says. "They... never made it out of their sleeping bags..." she gulped. "The two werewolves dropped from the trees straight onto them, but because I'd seen that coming, when the one was coming down on me, I aimed my gun, and fired, throwing it back several feet as I got out of my sleeping bag and started running," she says and started to hug herself tightly.

"I got half way up the hill when one landed in front of me," she said shaking. "It took a slash at me, and unfortunately it landed the hit, but I managed to get a shot off into its face before taking off again," she continued. She motioned to her arm where she'd had the gash. "As I ran into the other direction another one landed in front of me, I turned to run further up the hill, and it... caught me in the back," she says motioning to the hold in her back where it had stabbed its claws in. "I didn't stop running... the only thing that got me here was pure adrenaline..." she says. "I don't know what happened to my cheek, probably caught it on a branch or something," she adds shaking her head. "I didn't stop running... for anything... until I reached your gates," she finished, looking at him, her eyes full of sorrow, rage, and exhaustion. Reliving that moment was horrible.

Chase was getting visibly frustrated, and this seemed to be happening a lot today. He was seconds away from giving the self righteous almighty god serving ginger a piece of his mind rather than giving the angel what he wanted, but the piece of earth crumbling off beside him caused the Werewolf to pause. After Alaric gave a few words they were suddenly in New York and once again Chase felt nauseous. "You should really give a guy a warning." He muttered rather quietly as if his life hadn't just been threatened.

Chase knew they were in New York because there were Will, Mac, Ash, and some of the other hunters from the barracks. He was very aware of the questioning looks they were giving both him and Alaric, their absence hadn't gone unnoticed and wouldn't go without question. The man put a finger up still letting his stomach settle, "We can talk about it later." Maybe they'd forget, maybe they wouldn't, but by then he could come up with a worthy excuse and toss it to Alaric so they had the same one. Assuming the Angel would be willing to not throw him under the bus that is.

William nodded at Mackenzie's suggestion. "Good idea. A text should be fine, and it'll be quick. Assuming our phones lose signal inside the building -- which is possible -- we'll need a time limit, as well." He paused; not knowing the layout of the building, he hesitated to throw out an amount of time that would seem arbitrary. He turned to Mac. "Is five minutes enough to get both teams in place?"

Elijah entered the front of the building, placing his phone in a bucket and waiting to pass through a metal detector. He took a moment to glance around at the security guards who watched him with silent glares. They all wore earpieces and it was obvious that their suits were tailored to hide the weapons concealed beneath. He had little doubt the men were professionals -- ex-military, former law enforcement maybe. Davenport was snapped from his analysis as the metal detector chimed in protest at his entrance. He was pulled out of line by a security guard -- a big bear of a man, balding but no less imposing for it. "Lift your arms, sir."

Elijah did as he was told, adopting a look of the confused tourist as the man began to wave a wand over his body. After the culprit was determined to be his belt buckle, the guard relented, allowing Elijah to reclaim his phone and escorted him to the receptionist, a young woman perhaps a few years out of college. Eli waited for the guard to depart before leaning toward the desk, flashing the woman his best attempt at a charming smile. The receptionist returned the expression as she looked up at him. "Good afternoon, sir! Let me know who your appointment is with and I'll be happy to provide you with a visitor's pass."

Davenport feigned a look of concern, allowing his London accent to come out in force. "If I'm being totally honest, I don't have an appointment, Miss..."

"Macey," the receptionist replied, still smiling away.

"Macey, what a beautiful name." The woman blushed, and Elijah continued on, dialing the charm up to eleven. If Will was here, he'd be rolling his eyes at this point. "As I was saying, I don't have a new appointment at the moment. I was thinking about applying, but I'm new to the States. I like to take a look around, get the lay of the land before I commit if you know what I mean. Can you help me out?" It was a flimsy excuse, but he was hoping the receptionist would be distracted enough not to give it much thought.

Macey bit her lip, hesitating. "I'm really not supposed to give out passes to someone without an authorized appointment. If you like, I can send you over to Human Resources..."

Elijah pouted. "Macey, I understand I'm putting you in a bad position. I'm just overwhelmed by all of this," he said, waving his hand around in an all-encompassing gesture. "It would really set my mind at ease. And who knows? Maybe we'll be coworkers one day."

For several moments, she was silent and Eli was sure that she was about to give out another polite refusal. Instead, she sighed. "Fine. Just don't tell anyone, okay?"

Davenport nodded. "I wouldn't dream of it," he said with a smile. After Elijah gave her a fake name, Macey tapped at her keyboard several times before running a small ID card -- attached to a lanyard -- through a scanner on her desk and handing it over to him. Eli thanked her profusely before leaving the reception area, letting out a sigh of relief. Glancing over either shoulder, he started making his way to the door Mackenzie had mentioned at the rear of the lobby.

Brendan watched the girl recount her tale with a remorseful look; her story was the same of ever hunter he'd ever heard. A family that hunts together, dies together. Someone had once told him years ago, and it was becoming clear that no one seemed to have a whole a complete family within Vitae. "I'm sorry." He'd utter when she was done, reaching out to grasp her hand and give it a gentle squeeze. "You're safe here, for now. We'll take care of you." There wasn't much more he could offer beyond comfort and condolences. "I'll see to it you have somewhere to stay once you're released from here, and I think the nurse has already sent a runner to find you a meal."

Mackenzie jolted at the voice suddenly next to her, damned that angel! She turned to give his answer and upon seeing the smirk on his face she narrowed her eyes with a glare. "Planning, is what you missed. Where have you been?" She wasn't aware that he and Chase had both been gone; too focused on the goddess screaming in her ears. She had been thankful for the quiet, the low din the near by gods created in the back of mind, it was peaceful silence compared to what Pasithea had been doing. That quiet soon vanished as the goddess returning to screaming; no doubt being tortured by her captors. Mac felt of her, she truly did. She understood what it was to be caged and broken; she'd been through this twice in her lifetime and she didn't wish it on anyone.

She tried to focus, listen to what was being said around her, but she couldn't dark eyes glazed over enough that Ashley nudged her when William's question went unanswered. "Mac?" Ashley gave her shoulder a shake. "You hear him?"

Ashley frowned seeing Mackenzie's dulled eyes turn towards her confused. "Five minutes enough time? For the second team to get to the right floor?" She waited as it looked like Mackenzie was thinking then heard the reply. "Yes, should be." She was worried now, this was more than not eating, more than just a vision or message or what ever the false god had sent her partner. She glanced to William and shook her head, Mackenzie certainly couldn't be trusted to react to anything around them; she would need to be watched and closely.

aa728589-a75b-4216-a210-66fde6cbd293_zpsqlcdxhls.png

Alaric observed them as Mackenzie was about to update him on what was going on, but then she became very spacey. He groaned, realizing that she probably accepted being an Oracle. "I'll watch her, as long as you can get me in," he says to Ashley and William. Mackenzie was headstrong, that made her a danger to herself, which of course she would never admit, no decently headstrong person ever would. "I have told Hypnos I'll watch her, and I intend to follow through with my word," he finishes.

He didn't care if Mackenzie heard him or not, and if she started to argue with him, he'd simply ignore her. "However, William," he says looking to William, he knew now he was the one Mackenzie spoke of. "I would honestly recommend taking over leading this expedition, I mean, you can use her plans, but don't expect her to be functional enough to lead a fighting team into this building and not get wounded, or worse, killed," he says flatly.

640ea93a-8681-4391-9408-3c794419f034_zpsl9r2k4qi.png

Aurora smiled at Brandon and nodded, blushing ever so slightly when he took her hand and squeezed it, she wasn't used to physical contact from other people. "Thank you... I guess... I should have been expecting it. I mean... there's never been a whole Hunter family to hunt together and live for very long... which... I tried to tell my brothers that," she said, sighing sadly. "My brother's were both over protective of me after our parents died when we were still kids," she explains. "I told them after we reached of age, we needed to split up, but they both refused," she explained a bit more and looked down. She also had not realized she hadn't let go of his hand either.

Hypnos winced as the sound of of his wife's screams all but echoed around him. Barely able to contain his grief the drowsy god sat down and watched as the humans began their infiltration of the office building. he knew he wouldn't be able to stand listening to Pasithea's screams much longer. Unable to contain himself Hypnos's power began to swell causing a rather strange phenomena. The Oneiroi, Hypnos' countless children, began to manifest around the the roof the gods were standing on as well as the surrounding area. like ears of corn in a field trying to count all the vestiges would be a Sisyphean endeavor, but that soon wouldn't be an issue as they all converged on their master, their father. Responding to the Hypnos's grief the Oneiroi all began to merge into a single being. Slowly what was just a silhouette of a human took on a more feminine shape. More and more detail would emerge from the Vestige until what seemed like a perfect copy of Pasithea stood there among the mortals. The concentration of that many Oneiroi made it to where even regular people could see the Vestige. It would look to Mackenzie and smile saying, " Take care of my husband.... He's such a gentle soul." It's words sounding as if hundreds of people were talking at once, but to most people it would seem as if the Vestige was an actual person, but to Alaric and Mac... they would see the truth. They would hear it's true fractured voice and see it's form flicker as the Oneiroi had to keep the image stable.

Seeing the Vestige Thanatos would waste no time and with a snap of his fingers bring it to his brother. " Look Hypnos.... even your children have come to comfort you." Death said with a cheery smile trying to calm his brother from his near hysteric state. The amount of power Hypnos had leaking out of him was to the point that even Thanatos was about to fall under his brother's spell. That amount of power would be easily noticed by even an incompetent Witch not to mention cause some irritating third parties to take interest in what they were doing. Even the Oneiroi knew this was a bad! Which is why they took on the guise of Pasithea, Only she could get him to calm down at this point. Luckily Hypnos didn't seem to notice or care what the Oneiroi were up to because when Hypnos looked up and saw Pasithea he immediately regained his composure, in a sense, and his power died down to hideable level.

Hypnos's eyes lit up at the sight of his wife, and he embraced her. Even if it was an imitation it was a damn good one. As he held the Vestige it began to whisper to him, telling him to trust the mortals and that she would soon be returned to him. As the Vestige whispered sweet nothings such as that Thanatos looked to the group who had yet to mobilize and made a tapping motion of his wrist, knowing that one of them would be able to see. They didn't have much time left. Hypnos was becoming more unstable with each round of his wife's screams.

Chase straightened up, glad that none had pressed into his and Alaric's delayed arrival for the time being. He listened to William give out his thoughts on the plan, a plan Chase was late to and therefore lacking knowledge. Not to mention technically he didn't have any sort of designation on the team, having lied to Brendan that Will had recruited him to help.

Chase found himself watching Mac who seemed rather pale, which hinted that maybe Alaric was right to tell William to take the lead. Chase noted Elijah's absence from the group and assumed he was scouting or something along those lines. The Werewolf had just been about to ask where he was needed when his head jerked to the left, nostrils flaring as he followed a scent. A small breeze brought the strong smells of the city to him, but that wasn't all he smelled. Mixed in with the exhaust fumes, coffee, and garbage Chase caught a familiar scent that caused his jaw to clench.

Wolf.

They seemed to be just about everywhere these days. His eyes darted from object to person for focus as he inhaled, there was way too many other smells for Chase to pinpoint how long ago but it wasn't too recent...last twenty four hours at least. But one thing was clear to him, there was relation to the same scent he got from Mackenzie's car and the hint of pine trees confirmed it. Which meant there was likely a connection between the people holding Hypnos' wife and the packs with their eyes set on Vitae, there was no way in hell this was a coincidence. The man turned back to look at the others still in talks among themselves, his mind racing through ways to let them know of potential immediate dangers.

This was a new problem for Chase. He'd always hunted on his own or with his father and never had to withhold information. Sure, in his everyday life with normal people he did but that was never a matter of life and death. Anything he picked up or noticed he could voice to his father, but these people would turn on him if they knew. But if there was even a shred of chance that there were wolves in that building then they could be better prepared. But it was only a chance. Even when Alaric questioned him Chase never questioned his own reason for being at Vitae and staying. Now however, in this moment that resolve wavered.

Chase stepped closer to Mac and Alaric as he inserted himself more into the smaller group conversing on what to do next. The angel had just threatened him on the cliff-side of a mountain so Chase didn't trust him with Mac. Though this was more-so from the Oracle power now emitting from her. "What's the call if we meet resistance?" He remembered that Brendan said something about going non-lethal at the meeting, Chase however hadn't swapped out weapons so his gun was still loaded with silver bullets but he had brute strength if need be.

A woman he hadn't noticed from the barracks stood among them, Chase wasn't sure when she'd arrived and after a few words she was gone. This left him looking among them questioningly, "Anybody else as confused as I am right now?"

William turned to look at Alaric, then back at Mackenzie. "Preaching to the choir," he said, quietly. It wasn't his intention to put Mackenzie in any more danger than he could avoid. She was obviously shaken, unsteady, distracted -- whatever you wanted to call it, she wasn't fit to look after herself, let alone help take active part in the mission. Will wasn't concerned with that in and of itself; with the detailed intelligence she was providing them, they wouldn't need extra hands inside. What worried him was the potential source of her sudden affliction. He had an idea of what that might be and it caused a now-familiar sense of frustration mixed with worry to boil up inside him... but now wasn't the time for that.

Elijah glanced over his shoulder to make sure no one was looking in his direction before darting through the metal door -- marked STAFF ONLY -- into a maintenance corridor. Dim fluorescent lighting illuminated the narrow pathway, with pipes and electrical circuits running along either wall. He traced the latter down the corridor until reaching what he'd come for: a large electric control panel, no doubt filled with breaker switches. The issue, however, lay with the small padlock hanging from a loop in the door, sealing it shut. He cursed under his breath. He had nothing to pick the lock with, nor bash it open. Looking around, he found no nearby tools that would help and out of frustration, he began tugging at the door with all of his strength. It didn't budge.

"Who hell are you and what're you doing back here?" a voice rang out behind him, echoing in the cramped hall. Elijah spun around to see a maintenance man standing a few feet away, having turned the corner and nearly bumped into him. His eyes were wide as he stared at Elijah, looking pointedly at his hold on the electric panel.

"Well--" Davenport began. The worker reached for the radio clipped on his belt and Eli shot forward, knocking it from his hand. The man threw a wild punch that Elijah ducked under, slipping past the man's arm and coming up behind him, slipping his arm around the worker's neck and locking in a chokehold. The man clawed at his arm, to no avail. He was unconscious within seconds. Davenport gently lowered him to the floor, checking his pulse. Finding a steady heartbeat, he nodded in satisfaction when a glint of metal caught his eye at the man's belt. A keyring. Elijah detached it from its lanyard, finding the key marked "ELECTRICAL". Standing up, he approached the padlock and hesitantly slipped the key into the padlock. It fit. He turned the lock, opening it up along with the panel. It didn't take long to find the appropriate breaker to flip off the fire alarm.

Eli dragged the man to a nearby supply closet, pushing him inside and shutting the door behind him after relieving him of his cell phone. It was a temporary measure at best, but it was the best he could hope for. There was no telling when building security might be alerted to the loss in power for the fire alarm. Eli took off at a jog through the corridors, following the signs to the emergency exit at the back of the building. Luckily, he didn't run into any more employees. Reaching the door, he pushed it open slowly. No alarm sounded. Elijah peeked out into the alleyway, a grin on his face as he addressed the others. "Rest time's over, ladies and gentlemen. Time to rescue a goddess."

Brendan offered Aurora a gentle smile, something he found he was doing less and less often recently; smiling. "No one can predict the future." Though he glanced shortly to Dayne wondering if his own statement was true or not. "All we can do is learn from our past and try to make less mistakes in the future." The clinic's door opened and entered one of the many runners from the colony; a youth hunter, not old enough to be sent on missions unattended but old enough to be trust to take care of himself. In his hands were two covered trays of food. "Here." Brendan called and the youth complied, approaching the bedside. Brendan took one of the trays and set it on Aurora's side table, the youth brought the second tray to Dayne's bedside.

Brendan slowly rose, thanking the youth had he departed before turning back to Aurora. "I have work to do, but as I said I'll make sure you have a place to stay once you are released from here. I'll check in on you later." He left then, thanking the nurse before exiting the clinic.

Ashley glanced between the three men; Chase, Alaric and William and their rather protective stances around Mackenzie. She was feeling crowded and she wasn't even the topic of any of their attention. She frowned, crossing her arms over her chest and giving Alaric a rather dismissive look. "Yeah, I'm sure the false god has told you many things, but you're not her keeper." It was clear Mackenzie wasn't about to speak up for herself. "Also, I'm pretty sure you'd be far more useful blinking or porting or whatever the second team to the correct floor instead of babysitting; the first team won't have to wait and we can leave sooner." Blue eyes traveled from William to Chase with an equally annoyed look. "You," She nodded to William, "Can't watch her, you need to lead these people." She glance to Chase. "And as much as I'd like to believe you're a good guy, I don't know you." Whether or not Chase was going to argue, he certainly looked like he was attempting to protect Mackenzie.

Ashley was aware of what transpired now, why Mackenzie was not her typical aggressive angry self. There was really only one answer for her subdued behavior; she had to have accepted being Hypnos's Oracle. She and Mackenzie would have a very long discussion when they were done with this place and back at Vitae, but for the time being she couldn't call out her partner's oddity in front of the other hunters. William and Eli she trusted to keep Mac's secret, but the other five hunters? Unlikely given just the day before there had been a hunt her Mackenzie through the colony; she was considered a wolf sympathizer after all.

Mackenzie had winced hearing the Vestiges voices jumbled but speaking as one entity. It had been terrifying and confusing to look at, though it didn't seem like any of the other hunters had noted the oddity. The four Brendan had sent with them, their names long forgotten, simple had confused looks on their faces. At least I'm not the only one. "Anybody else as confused as I am right now?" A voice as her side made her jump, when had he arrived? "I think that belonged to Hypnos.... I'm not sure."

The buildings side door swung open. Mackenzie didn't think it was possible but the goddesses screams, partial visions or what ever she was projecting from within the building grew stronger, as though the partial break in the otherwise sealed building was acting like a flood gate; letting the full force of the panicked and pain stricken goddess's will wash over Mackenzie. It was too much, she had been fighting to keep herself upright and at least partially focused, but she couldn't hold back any longer. She turned and staggered from the group a few feet before dropping to her knees and dry heaving, body wracked with physical pain. She felt Ashley at her side, hand on her back, attempting to sooth. She heard Ash speak, not to her. "Will, get this done, quickly."

Will looked at Mac desperately, wishing he could go to her side and do something -- anything -- to ease her pain. But Ash was right. He nodded his understanding. The only way he could help was to see this through. So he pushed everything else aside, letting the old soldier in the back of his mind take over. He looked at the group. "Aidan, Thomas, Bruce, you're with me. We're hitting the basement." Not waiting for a response, he looked to Alaric.

"As soon as those wards are down, you teleport Chase and Elijah with you to the upper floor so they can retrieve Pasithea." William was working on the assumption that Alaric would be able to feel -- sense? -- when the sigils were destroyed. Regardless, he'd be sending a text when it was time to be sure. He turned to Chase and Elijah. "Don't waste time trying to destroy the second set of sigils; Mac said they're engraved in metal and we won't have much time to make sure she's safe after we make our move. Just get her out of that room."

He drew the pistol from his belt, checking the chamber as he looked to Chase. "If we run into resistance... do what you have to," he said darkly. "It's us or them -- literally." Hendrix took one last look at the gathered crowd before gesturing to Bruce, Aidan, and Thomas to follow him into the darkness of the maintenance corridors.

Aiden, Bruce and Thomas nodded their understanding and each dropped their packs in order to ready as commanded. Brendan had told them this would be a non-lethal incursion however, like any half way decent hunter, they brought the gear they hoped they wouldn't need.

Weapons out, safeties off the men moved to the open doorway where they awaited further instruction from William. None were military trained, but each had done their fair share of group hunts, they knew how to work within a unit; knew the importance of obeying the lead.

Ashley had managed to get Mackenzie into a partial right lateral recumbent against the far wall, but the smaller hunter was compelled to curl into the fetal position and Ashley wasn't hell bent on keeping her still. What ever it took to keep Mac quiet and still she'd do. She didn't need them to be caught out alone in the alley way when the two teams were gone.

Riding on horseback with a black cloak covering her body and shrouding her face in Darkness. It was rare that she ever came out from hiding, if ever at all; though, now she had a chance to prove to what of humanity that not every witch is hell-bent on the destruction of the mundane. At least, she wasn't. Sybil was a witch who gained her power from the earth's energy and the power of the five elements. She didn't rely on a demon's powers or any other such things. Though, in today's world of Hunters, a witch was a witch. And every witch deserved to die.

After all. She'd been put to the blade before, and her hands were stained with the blood of other hunters and humans who meant her harm. However, she was otherwise peaceful as long as she was left alone. But now, she rode onward to a distress call for all hunters to gather round in an attempt to defend a colony against whatever monster or hell-born creature had managed to migrate near the town and posed a threat. She didn't know what was happening; though oppertunity had called and she'd be damned if she wasn't going to take it with the intention of hopefully saving her ass if not only for a little while.

Riding through a thick woods, she could see the Colony just within site. Striving forward; she rode up to the Colony's entrance and waited in the cold air. Her cloak still hiding her face in the shrouded magic, though, each time she exhaled; the white fog of her breath could be seen.

To say Chase felt pulled in every which direction was an understatement currently. Mac's Oracle abilities had him drawn to the woman unconsciously to protect her, and internally Chase was trying to derive exactly how he could warn them of possible wolves. Possibly, that was the word he was hanging up on. If Chase knew for sure there were Wolves here he'd just say something. But if he said something and there weren't any then he could blow his cover for no reason. This was his thought process as he watched William lead his team into the building, they assumed they were dealing with only humans and that might be true and it might not.

Yet Ashley's words rang true, they didn't know him both truly and figuratively. And Chase didn't really know them except for the brief time since yesterday and what Hypnos had spoken of. That being said there were still lives at stake here. Every now and again he'd glance at Mac and Ash's direction.

So instead of arguing Chase simply stood there staring at the open door in thought for who knew how long until a lightbulb went off. The man did a quick side glance at those around him before slipping out his phone turning away from the others and texting William, 'Alaric said he thought he might have sensed wolves inside. Be alert.' It was hard to say whether Will had remembered to put his phone on silence or not but Chase gave it a shot either way.

"Are you going to be able to sense when the seal goes down?" He asked turning his head in Alaric's direction after slipping his phone back into his pocket.

Alaric glanced at Chase when he pulled out his cell phone and raised a brow suspiciously as he watched him, what was he up to? While he thought he wasn't a threat, that didn't mean he wasn't lying about who he was, he certainly wouldn't be the first. He sighed softly and looked to William. "Normally I would, but since miss Mackenzie here is giving an aura off for every supernatural being to protect her," he paused right then to shoot a glare towards Chase for a split second, before looking back to William. "it's making it hard to sense anything around here," he adds. Unbeknownst to him, this was also going to screw up the whole idea of that unknown text that he'd sent to William.

Aurora simply nodded to him as she took the tray of food and started to eat. She wasn't sure what she was going to do now, she'd never actually had the opportunity to be a solo Hunter, so she didn't know if she was going to be of any use to the colony now. She frowned as she poked at her food quietly and sighed sadly.

William spared a few cursory glances over his shoulder to ensure that the trio of Brendan's elite were following him. He wasn't interested in micro-managing them; he didn't have the same trust in their abilities that he had in Elijah, but they seemed capable all the same. As long as they followed his lead and did their part, they were fine by him. Finding their way to the basement wasn't all that difficult -- there were painted signs on the walls to follow.

Hendrix had the HK45 in-hand, a miniature suppressor threaded onto the end of the barrel as they moved swiftly through the maintenance corridors, peeking around each corner before proceeding. It was difficult to strike a balance between swiftness and caution; Mac's current state did more than a little to push him toward the former. Still, it wouldn't do either of them any good for him to stumble into an ambush he could have otherwise noticed. The sound of boots on concrete echoing in the tight confines was complemented by a new sound: his phone vibrating softly in his pocket. As they neared another corner, Will held up his hand for the men behind him to stop as he quickly fished the device from his coat and read the text from Chase: Alaric said he thought he might have sensed wolves inside. Be alert.

Will's jaw clenched as he nodded to himself. He was in no position not to trust in the angel's judgement. Even if he turned out to be wrong, there was less harm in preparing for wolves to only find humans than the opposite; a wolf could take a magazine of standard hollow-points to the chest and keep coming. The same couldn't be said for a human and silver-plated rounds. Hendrix turned to Bruce, Thomas, and Aidan, whispering just loud enough to be heard: "We may have Wolves here. Silver." Will made his point clear by quickly swapping the magazine in his pistol for one loaded with appropriate ammunition.

When the trio followed suit, Will began leading the way again. It wasn't long before they reached a set of stairs that could only lead one place. William slowly peeked one eye around the corner, glancing down the stairs. At the bottom was a metal double door. A man wearing a nondescript black suit leaned lazily against the wall beside it. He looked half-asleep, but there was no questioning that he was a guard all the same. Hendrix hesitated -- there was no way to close the distance down the stairs without him raising the alarm. Putting a bullet in him from here would be trivial... and it was tempting. Even with the slim possibility that the man was a simple rent-a-cop who wasn't involved with the plot, it was the fact that firing even a suppressed weapon would still be loud in such tight confines which ultimately made William reconsider.

Hendrix turned to his team, holding up one index finger to indicate the guard's presence before signaling for them to back up slightly. An idea in mind, he reached into his pocket to remove a long-forgotten penny. Taking a deep breath, he reached out and dropped the coin. It fell, clanging against a pipe before falling to the concrete flooring and spinning. The sound echoed off the walls loudly enough that Will was certain the guard had to have heard it. He tensed up, pistol at the ready as he stared at the corner, ready to pounce the moment the man came to the top of the stairs.

Nothing.

No call of alarm. No sound of footsteps. Hendrix was beginning to suspect the man was truly asleep down there when it happened. A blur of movement sped around the corner and Will saw a flash of eyes -- bestial silver eyes. He was seized by the collar of his jacket and slammed forcefully against the concrete wall as the werewolf attacked, knocking the sidearm from his hand. He barely got his arm up in time to leverage it against the wolf's neck -- only half-transformed -- keeping those slavering jaws away from his throat with all his might.

William heard Aidan's shout of alarm, knew they'd be looking for a shot but hesitant to take it with him in such close proximity. The wolf was winning the contest of strengths, the fangs came closer and--

The creature screamed in pain, a sound halfway between a human scream and the yelp of a canine. Then, going limp, it fell to the ground in a heap. Will looked down at the silver-plated dagger in his hand, panting. Not taking any time to recover, he knelt down to retrieve his sidearm from the ground before storming down the stairs "Come on!" He never stopped moving, bringing his boot up to slam into the door at the bottom, Brendan's team hot on his heels. The door flew open and William quickly scanned for threats. A figure darted toward him from behind a stack of crates with unnatural speed. He didn't hesitate to raise the pistol and fire three shots in rapid succession. The Wolf squealed, falling to the concrete with a thud. He spotted movement to his immediate left and whirled around. The sound of two handguns going off behind him caused his ears to ring. A second Wolf dropped at his feet. He turned back to see Aidan and Bruce lower their weapons. Nodding his thanks to them, Will set out further into the basement.

The room was large, but sparsely-furnished. Beyond a few small crates, it was clear that the room went mostly unused... for official purposes. In the center of the concrete floor, he saw the enormous pattern of sigils Mac had mentioned, drawn in interlocking lines of what looked like paint and chalk. There was no mistaking them for anything else. Far more intricate than any mere Devil's Trap he had ever drawn. If Elijah were here, he knew he'd want to study every inch of them. Will, on the other hand, was only interested in one thing. Holstering his pistol, Hendrix stepped forward and removed his folding pocketknife and rolled up the sleeve of his jacket. He wasted no time in lowering the blade to his arm and applying pressure, drawing the edge against the flesh. Blood flowed outward and allowed it to drip down from his appendage onto the outer edge of the sigils. Once enough had accumulated, he leaned down rubbed it thoroughly across the perimeter of the symbols.

William brought his phone out, quickly tapping out a text to Chase and Elijah: Seals down. Go.

Ashley held Mackenzie's prone form, near constantly checking the woman's vitals. Heart-rate was elevated, but to be expected or at least assumed. Her cheeks were flushed and feverish and that was worrisome; if her state didn't improve then getting fluids into a semi-conscious and rather combative hunter would be of great difficulty. She hadn't even brought her full med-kit. She had watched the men disappear into the building glancing to Alaric after his statement. "He'll plan around that." She stated, anything to occupy her mind from worry.

Within a few minutes she heard Elijah's cell phone go off, turning her gaze to the English Hunter questioningly, perhaps they were already successfully?

Mackenzie inhaled sharply, a long ragged breath; the sound a drowning person makes when they finally break the surface of the water, able to breath again. The wards had collapsed exposing her to Pasithea's full unadulterated power. She felt what the goddess felt. She felt as though she were on fire! Pain seared her flesh; she howled and fought the arms holding her. Ignored the soothing words. It only lasted for seconds, though they felt like years, before Hypnos's vision was gifted.

Conflicting visions and emotions tore through Mackenzie, breath held as the two powers fought for control. Her deity's vision won out, relaying the confusing message of euphoria and extreme peril. "Shit."

Ashley was stunned at the sudden changes within her partner, she had been subdued, to fighting Ashley with strength she didn't know Mac even had, to laying within her arms, dark eyes open but unfocused. When they finally turned to meet her she stared. "Mac?" She watched her friend nod, voice hoarse. "I need to get to Pasithea." Ashley released her partner and watched her rise.

Mackenzie was dragging herself to her feet, rather unsteadily, but her mind was clear; she knew what was coming. Eyes dragged over Eli, Chase and Alaric. "Where are they?" She hadn't known they left.

"He's in the basement, taking down the wards." Ashley answered cautiously, rising to her feet as well.

Mackenzie turned to Alaric, "I need to get to her now, she won't trust anyone else. After, get everyone else out of here, those two are about to rain hell on this building, and they won't stop to consider who's in there." Already Mackenzie could feel the power building from the two gods poised on the rooftop across the street, she knew well enough their grace period was very limited in time.

The ever diligent Bart remained atop the wall and main gate leading to the colony. As always he was charged with keeping an eye on the main road, and handling any hunters admitted.

As thought today hadn't been odd enough, what with the half dead girl running from the forest screaming bloody murder, now another approached on horse back no less.

He assessed the seeming child seated atop the horse before shaking his head and rising from his chair. "Good Afternoon." He called to the girl, hefting his rifle against his shoulder. "What brings to you all the way out here today?"

Holding the reigns to her horse, she didn't speak, just continued to stand there while looking up to the male. Her green eyes now visible through the shroud of her cloak. It was as though she were reading his soul, is essence in silent judgment before deciding to reach up and lower the hood of her cloak, exposing the upper half of her face that wasn't covered by her cowl. "I received a call requesting assistance.... I am here to aid said assistance."

Her horse whined before she reached over and gently calmed him with a soft hand against his muzzle, "Shh girl... It's okay."

When Alaric described what being an Oracle did Chase looked at Mac confused, was he doing that then? Turning back and finding the straight glare from Alaric confirmed this and Chase simply glared right back. Nobody ever said angels were such pricks. Chase huffed and looked away just as he could hear the faint silenced shots from inside followed by the obscured and pained whine that Chase caught quickly as being a Wolf. His eyes shot to the opened door to the building. I should have gone with them. The man nearly went into the building to follow after them then and there but he decided to trust that his warning was enough, that combined with the fact that he was needed here and Mac's oracle status effecting him kept his feet glued down.

Minutes passed before his phone buzzed telling them to move now. But before he could tell Alaric to send them in Mac was up. "You can't go alone, we don't know what else is in there. Those wards might not be the last line of defense." Chase's arms went back to being crossed as if to say he wasn't backing down from this. "This whole lone wolf, do it yourself attitude is going to get you killed." His tone was uncaring and to the point. "Ginger here is our ride out of here once the Goddess is safe, or can you teleport now that your an Oracle?" The end question was sarcastic, he knew she couldn't...or at least he assumed. Chase didn't look away from her, and expected the others to back him up on this. But there was no time to argue, they needed to hurry.

The moment the wards were down Hypnos knew what had to be done. As Pasithea's screams raked over him far worse than any blade the Vestige that had been soothing him simply dissolved and scattered on the winds like sand. Tears streamed down his face and the compassionate God was visibly shaking as he took his horn from his belt and gathered his power. He saw Mackenzie making a dash to the building and knew what she was trying to do. That was not her role in this play and she was about to pay dearly for going off script. An Oracle functions essentially just like a prophet. Their job is to relay the divine word and set things in motion. They are not supposed to act on the information on their own. His hands still trembling Hypnos exhaled sharply, almost dry heaving, as he brought his horn to his mouth. Hypnos dropped to his knees and began sobbing. He just couldn't take it anymore. The pain his wife was experiencing, the thought of consigning all those souls to the afterlife and for what? For his wife? How is her life any more valuable than any of the humans present? It was an affront to Hypnos' entire existence to cause such pain how could he send so many souls to Thanatos because of his personal situation?

It was during these thoughts of doubt that Hypnos felt a hand on his shoulder and the all too familiar voice of his brother Thanatos. " Get up Brother.... It's time to do what what is required.... neigh, it is time to do what is right! You must show these pitiful creatures what happens when they anger you! Only then will they come to love and respect you!" Thanatos hoisted Hypnos up and looked his brother in the eyes. Tears and snot ran down the drowsy gods face as Hypnos countered saying, " How will killing them earn me love?! How will killing them give me respect!? Death only begets Death! You of all the gods, of all of God's Peers know this! So why!?" Hypnos yelled his power swelling more and more as his emotions went out of control.

Thanatos calmly regarded his Brother, his twin and said, " Look what they are doing to your wife!" As Thanatos said another wave of agony and screams filled the air. " Even now with both of us at their door step they do not yield on her torment. No, they are going so far as to make it worse! How Dare These Insignificant Worms Do Such a Thing To Pasithea! How Dare they Insult You By Abducting Her! They Have The Audacity To Do This To The Love Of your Life And Still You Hesitate!" Thanatos yelled in response. He wasn't angry at Hypnos as Hypnos had always been like this. Always wanting to preserve life even when the right thing to do was to spill some blood. What angered Thanatos was the gall that the humans had for abducting a goddess, and his brother's wife to boot!

Calming down Thanatos said in a softer tone, " You need to show them that such a thing cannot go unpunished. If you allow them to torture Pasithea to death when you could have done something it will haunt you for the rest of your immortal life, and then I'm going to have to be the one who takes her from you.... please brother.... don't make me do that.... What is a building... a city.... a country of humans when compared to Pasithea? They can recover their numbers in a few short centuries, but if Pasithea dies... there's nothing you or I can do."

Hypnos was sobbing, practically collapsed on the rooftop as he listened to his brother. As much as he hated it Hypnos knew Thanatos was right. If he lost Pasithea Hypnos couldn't go on living. He would have to ask Thanatos to kill him so he wouldn't have to live with the pain. Pain.... how much pain have the humans put Pasithea through while he hesitated? How much longer would she have to wait until Her husband manned up and acted like the God he was?

" No more...." Hypnos whispered as he whipped his face clean of tears and snot. " I will not allow you to suffer such pain any longer my dear Pasithea. I will fulfill my Divine purpose and I WILL END YOUR PAIN!" Hypnos shouted as his power exploded outward without restraint.

Elijah nodded in agreement with Chase. "He's right, Mackenzie. We have no idea what's waiting for us up there and Alaric won't be able to follow you into the room Pasithea's being held in. We do this together. It's the only way." He left the last part unspoken: Besides, Will would never forgive me if I let you out of my sight to do this.

His cell phone, still clutched in-hand, vibrated again. Another text from Will: Are you in? He was waiting for confirmation on the seals. Eli turned to Alaric. "Feathers, can you tell if the seals are do--" he paused abruptly. The hairs on his arm were standing on end. His blood seemed to run cold, a distant buzz at the back of his head. It was the vague tingling sensation one felt preceding a bad storm... but Davenport suspected there was something far more dangerous at work here. He looked back at the others. "Whatever we do, we should do it quickly."
