It had been a long process to get to where she was today.
It had taken hours of applications, weeks waiting for said applications to process, and what felt like far to many interviews to get cleared to be a foster parent. One would think the process would be more streamlined, but when it came to finding children of a different...persuasion homes, one had to be sure that any and all perspective parents knew exactly what they were getting into. Many applicants dropped out before the process was over.
Aya Faustine was not one of those applicants.
At the moment, she was pacing in her front room, waiting for the call that her assignment...no her...child? That sounded so rushed...her...ward?
"Ugh, what should I call him?" she stopped and looked frantically to her friend and trusted confidant, Leah, a maid who worked at the manner.
"Is child not appropriate?" Leah asked with a frown. Aya started pacing again. "I don't know, I don't want him to feel smothered on his first day...", the blonde sighed, taking a deep breath she held it for a long moment before letting it go.
"It's just...nerve wracking...I want to make a good first impression...I want him to be comfortable here...and dare I say it, I want him to be happy here".
She grabbed a vanilla folder off the table and flipped through it's contents yet again, it contained everything available on the child that would be staying with her.
Jamie Cruz, age thirteen. He was an aswang a supernatural being that was sorta like a vampire crossed with a werewolf...or at least that was what google had told Aya. Truthfully there wasn't much on what Jamie was in his file...probably because there weren't a lot of people like him.
So many supernatural races had been driven to the brink, it was a wonder any had survived into the modern age.
Aya sighed and set the file aside, she's just have to be patient and wait for the call that would signal Jamie's arrival, until then...she'd pace.
