Detective Marshall and War

Adam listened intently as the all-powerful entities discussed, careful note-taking into his notepad and nodding along slowly, War chiming in. "I can't fathom you feeling guilty. You squashed a cockroach, it keeps crawling around if only just a bit madder than before. You're too sweet for your own good, Death. To clarify, I quite adore annihilation. Just not total annihilation. The World War's were quite enjoyable, and I think if they hadn't gone nuclear you all could have enjoyed it for at least another year." Adam nodded slowly, seemingly unbothered by such commentary by the group, studying his notes. "If I may ask, if none of you like it, why not intervene?" "Not our place. Ultimately, it's inconsequential. Your O.A threat will get handled one way or another, a new monster is going to crawl out of the shadows, you'll start the cycle again." Adam opened his mouth to speak before his phone began to go off, the tunes of 'Piano Concerto No 23 in A Major' making him pause. Why was Sylvia calling him? Pulling his phone from his pocket he raised a hand up, one finger lifted in the traditional 'one-second' pose. It didn't matter if it was a Concept or a Lovecraftian Deity he was talking to. His wife called, he was going to answer the damn phone. "Hey, hun, what's up?"

Adam nodded along patiently as Sylvie explained the situation, tapping the end of the pencil to the pad of paper and making little dots in the process. "Alright, deep breaths, calm down. You married a detective, remember? I'll put a pin and work and find them both, it's okay. We don't need to get Nyaralothotep involved, the less I ask him for favors the better. I'll find them, I promise, okay? I love you, I'll call you when I've got something." Waiting for the refrain of 'love you too' he ended the call, stowing his pencil, pad, and phone away. "I'm terribly sorry for the inconvenience of this, Gaia, Death, and War, but I have to cut this meeting short." Adam moved to stand upright, dusting himself off ever so slightly. "My daughter is missing, so I hope you understand why I need to go." "No offense intended, Detective Marshall, but I can't say I can relate nor understand. But go do what you must, it matters little to me." "That's fine, and thank you. Miss Gaia, it's been a pleasure to speak with you. If that's all, however, I need to collect Muse and Lexi and get going."

The blonde doctor grinned wide, hand continuing to gently swirl the beaker he had been working with, bubbles within roiling in a rather ominous fashion. "Sorry to disappoint! No robot limbs, no metal eye, what you see is what you get!" The doctor set the beaker down on the table behind him, leaning back on his hands in a very nonchalant fashion, even as the alarms continued to buzz and blare around them, tilting his head every so slightly at the question of if he was evil or not. "Evil...am I evil? Hum, depends on your perspective I suppose! I don't think myself as the evil sort, I am just curious! I was just whipping up a Zeta variant to the Coronavirus from several years ago to see what effects it may have! Sorry though, no evil monologue to offer!" The blonde stood upright, walking over to Viona and offering his hand to shake. "Dr. Peter Lance, at your service! So...about that study?"

One Ghost Hunting crew going missing was paltry. Two was abnormal. But when it reached the point of seven people going missing, then it was both cause for concern and alarm. So of course, when it came to Ghosts and Spirits, the obvious solution was for experts on the matter to answer the call. Unfortunately, or perhaps, fortunately, 'experts' took the form of a woman with a penchant for dark jokes, and a poltergeist that could stand to think with the head on his shoulders more often, at least if you were to ask Carmen. Dressed in a three-piece suit and no more than 5'4 in height, Carmen was a lithe and thin thing that didn't seem to boast threat to anything, let alone the supernatural. Stepping out of the car she had rented she tugged at the hem of her gloves for just a moment, starting towards the house and humming softly to herself, hands folded behind her back. "Your suspicions, Magnus? Trauma keeping the departed in one place? Something more sinister, perhaps? You suppose we'll be applying a new coat of paint?"

Carmen wasn't really expecting anyone else to have arrived on scene, so when she crept through the front door to find Tessa she paused, glancing at the sights about her and giving a slight incline of her head. Carmen spoke once again, accent a lovely blend of Germanic and French notes as she addressed the woman present. "My apologies for arriving late to the scene. Lovely to see you again, Grave Speaker. Would you mind to fill me and my companion in?" She folded a hand across her midriff, dipping into a low bow in greeting before straightening upright once again, scanning the room slowly, otherwise unbothered by any spirits she may notice, or the small creature should she be able to see it as well.

pavel-kondratenko-halo5-02.jpg".........Ah corona virus. Heard about that something about toilet paper. Uh anyway, whatcha doing with that Coronavirus?" Viona asked as she shook his hand. Her guard dropping a bit too much, looking around she shrugged "I mean, I'm not really a scientist, but my body is pretty good with this type of stuff, I'm Viona. Nice to meet ya Dr. Lance. Im not really a hero but uhhh, They probably want me to stop you." She said calmly as she looked at the beaker. Weird, science was always weird.

The small creature made a confused trill, tilting it head as it looked at Tessa. Feeling the spell, it gave a soft hiss of disapproval but seemed content to continue stalking around the woman. It seemed to understand that she wanted something from it, but it was unclear whether or not it grasped that she was asking it questions.

The twins shook their heads, the boy answering, "No... it didn't speak. It all happened so fast. After... I don't know."

"It's been confusing to distinguish reality since we... erm... died..." the girl continued for her brother.

Magnus, arriving alongside Carmen, floated to the right of her, "Mm. No clue. Definitely trapped, though. Total... what? More than a dozen people over the last year? Some missing, others died later on after visiting the house. I'd guess a curse too."

He grimaced as he saw the scene. Twenty spirits visible even now... "Well fuck, guys. Didn't know I was missing out on a party," he joked, voice flat. Magnus floated on over to Tessa, circling her around eye-level, "Hello there, lovely Grave Speaker. Always a pleasure to see you and work with you. Perhaps after we're done here we could get a drink?"

The spirit creature stared at the flaming ghost with wide, curious eyes, standing up on its hind legs and trying to grab at him like an otter.

The little creature was strong enough to shrug her spell off, but didn't seem all too upset by it. Good. Also seemed to indicate it might not be the one that actually did the attack unless it had specific triggers. Perhaps it was simply a matter of interest?

Said interest escalated further as a very similar pair walked through the front door. The silver wire wound around her body unwound a bit as she took a glance over, but it turned out to be unnecesary. Church heroes Blessed Death and Poltergeist. The ghost had been in the business a decade or so longer than she had, but Blessed Death had only been working for nine years. She was a skilled exorcist, and had compassion for the dead, so it was good, though Tessa never liked working with the church. Reth pulsed an aura of "back off" to Magnus, who just got a blank stare from the woman.

"Maybe finish the job before you start wasting my time, Poltergeist. It's nice to see you too, Blessed Death," she said, the tone on the second half of the sentence far more pleasant. "These two are recon specialist heroes Dior and Rapid Stop. They were the most recent victims of the spirit. Their experience is that it attacked them in the basement. Some kind of large, green furry creature with big teeth. Killed him without seeing it, so it is either fast or sneaky. I haven't confirmed if it can copy powers or not."

Gesturing to the little spirit, she flowed some energy to it to pick up its mood after her offense. "This is a powerful little energy creature, but it's probably not the culprit. Could you two do a blessing to prevent wall phasing while I gather more intel? No sense in letting it escape the basement if we can pin it down first."

Blessed Death

A soft hum escaped the exorcist in thought, glancing at the assembled spirits and then the small creature that Tessa seemed occupied with. "Poltergeist, would you kindly focus on the task at hand before you go making passes at her?" Attention shifted to the deceased recon specialists, a brief bow offered once again. "My most sincere condolences to the recently departed. We will ensure that your spirits shall be freed, you have my word." Again she straightened up, hands unfolding from behind her back as she started towards the middle of the room, one relaxed step after the other. "Appearances can be deceiving, hold doubt about it until you are completely certain, I would suggest. A cruel mindset, perhaps, but 'guilty until proven innocent' does hold merit in certain situations. Poltergeist, see what you can do in regards to piecing the puzzle together as well, would you?"

The woman reached into her suit only to produce an ornate silver cross, clutched tightly to her bosom as she began to speak gently, reciting scripture and blessings to do exactly as Tessa had requested to prevent or at the very least limit the ability for a spirit or malevolent being to go through any of the walls, floors, or ceilings. She'd probably be busy for a minute or two, freehand at her side not doing much of anything.

The woman inclined her head ever so slightly in a nod to Oracle's request as attention went out towards the city at large ahead of them. With how high they had both gone, the wind whipped around them in mighty gusts, threatening to send one tumbling off if they weren't careful...was probably why public rooftops so high up had safety railings. "A fine title to carry, I think." Olivine walked over to the edge of the building they were situated upon, glancing down for but a moment before her attention drifted upwards again. "My plan is to put you through your paces, and better understand your skillset. What your strengths are, what your flaws are. How you think, how you react." She raised a hand in front of herself, muttering gently beneath her breath before a collection of faint rings appeared in the sky before them, almost like 'hoops' one would fly through in a video game aerial level. "You'll be going through those rings..." She snapped her fingers at her side, a large ball and chain suddenly appearing at Oracles ankles each labeled '50 pounds'. "I trust this should be child's play for you." And then, without a hint of warning the scarf about her neck flexed, lashing out like a serpent before grabbing Oracles wrist and yanking her off the building into open air. Whether she fell or she flew, the test had started.

I am the Deathkitten! Fear me!
Chutes.jpgLibrary
Gaia seemed mildly annoyed by her expression… or was that just complete boredom with the situation? She was done caring about the mild entertainment talking to this mortal brought.

Death was by far the most emotive of the three, glaring at war with her arms folded, “Yes well I still have to deal with them even after they die! It’s hard not to get attached every now and then. Even humans have favorite pets!”

Her attention turned back to Adam with his question, “Interference usually leads to squabbles between concepts, when we disagree how something is done. So we agreed a long time ago to work through mediums. Somewhat like many gods or goddesses do. It’s not a foreign idea here, I think? The reality itself isn’t at threat of collapsing, after all. So it’s bothersome… and I am rather annoyed about it… but it’s better to let you guys grow and deal with problems yourselves. This is a lesson dear Chutes is still learning.”

The wolf boy, being pointed out, just about jumped out of his skin. His cheeks reddened a few shades, but he said nothing. All three of them had curious looks on their faces when the phone rang, however. Learning that he was going off to look for his daughter, Gaia merely shrugged, bored again. Most life forms weren’t so protective of their young past a year or two. Humans were high maintenance.

Chutes looked a little concerned at the news, ears flattening as he started towards the door, “I’ll get them ready to head out.” He hoped it wasn’t an OA thing again… kids shouldn’t have to worry about stuff like that.

Lady Death looked worried for him as well, surprisingly enough. She nodded, “Of course I understand. I have kids, myself. And… not constructed ones, like Gaia.”

“Hey! It counts!” Gaia huffed in return.

“Yes, yes. Anyway, I have a few young kids. They run off often, unfortunately,” she walked toward the door was well, moving out into the library with Adam. She continued to talk as they went along, “I cannot say I’ve the best idea of raising children, given my interesting… heritage, let’s put it. Traditionally, concepts cannot have children, even. So I can certainly sympathize with a child running off and getting into trouble.”

They caught up to Chutes, Muse, and Lexi in no time. Both Muse and Chutes gave Death an odd look of confusion. Chutes piped up, “Erm… are you… going with them or something?”

This only confused Muse more - she had no idea who this woman was or where she came from. Why would she be going with?? But she said nothing. She was here to learn.

Death gave a gentle shrug of her shoulders, “I suppose there’s no need for me to… I just got… overly worried at the mention of his daughter. I had heard of Detective Marshall before, and meeting him myself, I’ve decided I’m fond of him. He seems like a good person. It’s only right to worry for good people. Since he is good people, so is his daughter. Children are important to a species survival… and… well… they’re important to parents. So… I am not sure.” Her thought process was strange, but sweet. Her heart was in the right place at least. She looked to Adam, “I should probably not intervene, lest I make things worse for you somehow. Would you be so kind as to let me know when you find her, and if she’s ok? I’ll give you my number.”

Muse was… so fucking confused. Chutes looked like he just about had an aneurysm processing that whole explanation. Death had a PHONE NUMBER? What the fuck? That just… felt wrong! He didn’t trust her. He didn’t trust any of the concepts. This was weird.

Muse quietly spoke up after a moment, “Um… s-sorry to interrupt but… I… what’s going on? What are we doing? Is your daughter okay??”

Oracle.jpgOracle
Oracle was so excited to get out of the house and get started! She had a big smile on her face, nodding along with Olivine’s plans. Sounded good to her! “Sounds like fun!” she chirped, far too chipper about the idea. Even with the weights, she was excited about it!

Oracle yelped as she was swatted off, getting yanked down for a foot or two before her rings adjusted to the situation and had her floating. They did so automatically, without thought required, and she pouted at the Archmage, “Hey! What if I couldn’t fly? Yeah you’d save me, I imagine, but that would have sucked!”

She folded her arms, the weights negated by her rings which were slowly orbiting her. The girl sighed, and shot off to fly through the assorted rings at speed. She wasn’t the fasted flier this way, but it was effective at least.

Magnus grinned at the retorts from the group. Reth was fun to mess with. He poked and prodded at the spirit with little pushes of telekinesis as he spoke, “Oh please. I can multitask just fine.” His attention turned to the heroes turned ghosts, and he floated their direction, offering them a bow, “My condolences on your passing, but welcome to the wonderful world of being an aware ghost, my dears. Of course, there are negatives, but you’re in the best of hands with these two magnificent women. If I do say so myself, they are two saviors of spirit kind. Some of the best of the best. Incredible heroes and kind souls.”

He smiled sweetly back at Grave Speaker, "But of course. Blessed Death is the expert on those sorts of things, love. As for the small creature, I do agree it's quite powerful. Hard to spot at first if you're not inclined to such things. I was not, innately, so I still have to ensure I give focus to spot them." Magnus looked down at the beast who was still making grabby paws at his robes, "It's cute, too. A dangerous combination." He gave a soft hum as he considered the situation, stretching out his awareness of the property, "There are quite a few souls here. Twenty on this floor alone. Many have traces of the curse that led to their deaths.

The spirit beast looked discomforted by the blessing Blessed Death was doing and made an upset series of squeaks and screeches at her as it bounded over to her. It clambered up her leg with sharp claws, though not trying to dig them in, as it tried to make its way up to her face so it could screech at her and get her to stop. It didn't like feeling trapped! The series of sounds it was making made the two fresh spirits aware of its presence, and the twins looked... concerned, but not afraid. This was not the creature that killed them, that much was apparent in their expressions. They still said nothing, however, as they were honestly unsure of what was going on.

"Isn't it a talkative little brat? Very aware for one of its kind. Likely old. Grave Speaker, I doubt it is the culprit as well. It simply doesn't seem aggressive enough and looks to be intelligent enough that it should understand that people would hunt it for causing such a large number of deaths. Instead, I believe it is powerful enough to ignore the creature that did kill these poor souls and is merely here for the buffet. It would explain the lack of others and its behavior. Mind, that of course still does require confirmation of the basement beast. I could pop my head down there if you two would like? I'd hate to put you lovelies in harm's way."

"All I can really offer you as condolences for you getting dragged here is to smack the man that did so. Nyarlathotep. The bastard. And he probably did so in part knowing he could toss me your way and it would fit the theme... so... I'm sorry if it's at all my fault," she offered an apologetic smile, nudging her white hair out of her face with a tiny huff, quiet as he explained his trials and tribulations... most of them of the harassment variety. These girls were a handful.

"I don't know about Sato or Thyris. I don't know them, really, so, unfortunately, that's up to you," she said as she worked on a finger of the limb she now held, "For the guy... I mean... we could scare him a bit first? Toss him in with Hignar and let her go for a run with him? She'd probably like the exercise, from what you've mentioned, right? After she's properly scared the heck out of him, we can take him out and question him. Plus it'd be more retribution for sato."

Tessa appreciated that he actually began to be productive, soothing the spirits and giving his analytical thoughts instead of merely his horny ones, but she wasn't impressed it took so long to reach such a point. The unprofessionalism was strong with this one. But that was unfortunately common with ghosts, who tended to live rather in the moment, ironically enough.

All the same... "I can manage, thank you. Keep an eye on her while she does her work. I will investigate the basement. Then the rest of the house needs a sweep just in case it's not down there. I'll make sure to let you know if it is, of course. Just remember it seemed to be some kind of creature spirit; who knows what its instincts will be?" As she said this, she started walking towards the basement. She had memorized the blueprints of the house in preparation for coming here, but it was always mildly disorienting figuring out directions when you'd never been inside of a place yourself.

Brushing cobwebs out of her way, Tessa activated her mask in preparation for the fight to come, sending illusions of herself going every which way that she might reasonably do so in nearby timelines.

“Oh, sweetie, Elem… Elemeownta’s gonna be ok. It’s alright,” Elementa pet the child’s head, consoling him. It was hardly as fun doing this as it was to fight, but the kid needed someone to watch him and keep him company. Poor boy. “I’m sure Glass is helping her right now. She’s not making a bunch of noise, and Glass is really good with animals, Hunny.”

She used a free hand to take out her phone, calling SSCC - Super Super’s Cleanup Corporation. It was one of her go-tos for after-battle cleanups. It’s not like she stuck around after an event, after all. She haaaated cleaning.

“Hey! Barb! Yep. Channel… uhhh…,” Elementa glanced around, spotting the nearest camera, “Two. Not too bad. I mean… not as bad as that stadium collapse, so… Yeah, yeah. You know, I know destruction’s good for business, but you really shouldn’t sound so chipper about it, Barb. Ok. Ok. Yep. Alright. Thanks! We’ll be outta here soon I think. Byeeeee.”

The phone call ended and she pet the kid again, then picked him up onto her hip, “Hey kid, whatcha wanna be when you grow up? You like me, as I can tell, soooo… do you wanna be a hero like me? If you wanna be a hero you gotta learn to think like a hero!”

“Some spooky guy gave you a collar, yeah? He was a stranger, and I thiiiink the collar was cursed, wouldn’t you say?” She motioned to the destruction around them, “Since I don’t think kitties are supposed to be that big. Plus, eeeeverybody knows you aren’t supposed to sell kids magical artifacts without a parent present. Right? Right. You know that. You’re a smart boy. So that means the person who sold it to you broke the law. They might have helped kitty, but could have hurt people in the process, and that’s not fair. I wanna tell the person who gave you it that it’s not okay and give them a stern talking to. Okay? Can you tell me what you remember about them and their shop?”

I am the Deathkitten! Fear me!
Sean… And Ada wishing she had more snacks
Sean was shaking, holding his arm and just about having a panic attack as he hyperventilated trying to figure out what the fuck to do in this situation. Without thinking, he stammered, “I’m already on my ass!”

Ten seconds… ten seconds ten seconds ten seconds… fuck. If he disappointed this man too much he’d just get killed!

He was crying, absolutely terrified of his own ability as well as the monster before him, but he came to a decision. He… had to let go. Sean knew he just had to let the power do as it wanted. If he stayed holding it like that, Casey would beat him senseless. If he did nothing and proved completely worthless, he’d… he’d die. He didn’t know what this power would do, but he didn’t want to die.

The kick came to his shoulder, and as it swung there was a flash of intense heat and light as Sean’s form was overtaken. His eyes were glowing orange, and all throughout his skin were otherworldly cracks like drought-stricken land. In each of the cracks, flowing about his body like veins, was deeply glowing reddish energy. Cracks pulled at either side of his mouth making a wide smile. His hair was entirely different, long and unkempt and reddish brown. He even had horns now which sprouted from under his hair and swooped backward behind his head, nearly touching in the back. He didn’t look like Sean at all anymore.

His kick still landed, but it was about as effective as hitting a wall. This demonic-looking Sean growled in response, the noise inhumanly deep, and it looked at Casey. It grinned wide, bearing teeth that looked like they belonged to a predator - incredibly sharp.

It spoke, voice a deep rattle-like whisper, as though it’s throat was a desert of hell, “I… have a playmate?” It’s eyes dilated into slits, and it looked to Ada as it jerked to its feet in ways that defied gravity, “Twooo play…mates? Fun… Fight... Need fight…”

The creature seemed to decide Ada was the easier target and did a short blink-step to her, intent on sinking it’s teeth into her shoulder as it reached out with claws at its fingertips.

Inside, Sean was in a world of darkness. Like floating on an empty sea, he was alone. The floor was black, the same as the sky. The only difference was where the horizon met, there was a thin line of white reflection that showed there was a difference. The ground was wet. A couple inches of black liquid consumed his fingers as he sat, eyes wide.

Where… was this? Damn it. Mister Casey told him to use that power even though he didn’t trust it. He had a bad feeling about it, and now look! This… whatever this was had happened.

He felt cold.

Did he die? …No, he didn’t think he was dead. But… he had lost control, he thought. He couldn’t handle it. That flash. That instant. Sean thought of it, and he could feel the moment his mind was ripped from him. He needed a cool head for that power, and panic was anything but calm and collected… How was he going to get out of here? Out of his own head? Or… whatever he could call this blank space. Whatever took over was bad. He KNEW it was bad in his bones. He didn’t want Ada to get hurt… or Casey either… though admittedly less so for him.

Mason sighed and ran his fingers through his hair, staring at Natalie, "Right... I'm happy you work for the church... I... I don't know what to say about all this. I don't know what to even think! This is... insane. Patently insane. I'm just happy you're alright, Natalie." He moved over and sat on the end of one of the beds, "Can you ask them to come out so I might... meet them, I suppose?"

Adon looked up at Agas, still in her lap in the mental space, "Is it okay if I go? I think he's a good person... Natalie likes him and trusts him, and... I think I brought him here... so... it'd be rude not to introduce myself..." She bit her lip, unsure about it, "And you guys will keep me safe... I can't just hide... If Agas thinks its ok, I'll go."

"Fun? I suppose that's one way to look at it." A somewhat bored and neutral expression met Oracle's adjustment to the situation and her protests, voice equally neutral. "You're the one who was under the belief this would be fun. I never said it'd be fun or not 'suck'." And then a gentle flourish of her wrist as if to say 'after you', watching Oracle fly through ring after ring with a thoughtful hum. "Either not enough weight attached, or her rings account for such adjustments even if it degrades her speed." Raising her hands up in front of herself she folded her arms across her chest, palms out and away from her. No longer stagnate the rings started to zip this way and that, starting to dodge out of the way of Oracle at the very last moment as she went to fly through one, a dizzying dance in the skies from shimmering hoops that seemed ill content to let her finish her test without much issue.

Blessed Death

Even as Magnus was busy singing the praises of the two women present, Blessed Death was solely focused on the prayer she had been speaking, slender fingers wrapped around the cross she was clutching to her chest, freehand folding behind her back, voice filling the room with each impassioned prayer and scripture she recited. Though then that little creature clawed its way up her suit, leaving cloth barbs where it clambered up before it started to screech and complain her face. How inconvenient. Despite its protests, she continued her duties, freehand raising up to grab at the creature's scruff, pulling it away and holding it away from her like a kitten that had acted out quite severely. With a final 'amen' she gave a nod, still clutching the creature in her hand as the cross was stored into her inner suit pocket. "There, proper blessing granted. Malevolent or otherwise hungry entities will not be able to travel through the walls or floors. Luckily, my friend here is neither of those, so he should be able to travel with little difficulty." She glanced to the creature she held by the scruff with a small frown, then towards Gravespeaker. "I am open to suggestions on what to do with this beast. Poltergeist, I can travel with you. You are still a spirit, and the last thing we need is something deciding you're a tasty one at that, based off the implications. So long as you watch my back, I shall watch yours."

Shaping stone out of her way, Glass stepped through the wall of the box she made. It was good that things went so quickly... but it was mildly annoying that she was interrupted for something so easy. A challenge would have been nice. Admittedly, the fact that Machina tased the poor thing helped a lot, though it wasn't the route she would have liked it to go. Certainly would have made calming it easier...

But her regrets vanished in short order. Some fool stumbled towards the three of them, pretending he was blind, but it was what happened when she glanced at his mind to see his intentions that she discovered something worthwhile. It wasn't his intent, that was predictably to retrieve the collar and interspersed with mindless ambling to the tune of "rolling around at the speed of sound", but what was attached to him.

Connecting from him to the nearest door was a bundle of massive chains. Beyond this door, she could see... something. She couldn't tell what, but it was vast and powerful. Something that hurt her head to focus on.

This was going to be a painful conversation.

"You, foo- sir. Might I ask why you're pretending to be blind?" She asked, looking periodically past him at the nearest door. She couldn't see it anymore, but she knew it was there. How was she supposed to ignore that?!

Oracle.jpgOracle
Oracle was doing just fine until the rings she was flying through started to dodge her. She squeaked and scrambled to a stop with her momentum, floating midair as she observed them. With her mouth slightly ajar, she stared at the rings... how... crap. Right, well... Oracle put her hands out in front of her and opened a portal. She opened the second and anchored it to the closest moving ring, the one that she was going through next, that way, it could move freely and she could still go through it. She did that one after the other, short-range portals slowly becoming tiring, but she was good at it!

She was huffing and puffing when she finished and made another portal, this time back to Cosmic. "That was a pain," she breathed, not bothered by the weights in the least, but spacial magic was notoriously costly. It was one of her family's specialties, though lesser-known after their clairvoyance. All the same, she was young, so as much as she had shown was impressive. Still out of breath, she continued, "Let's keep going. What's next? I wanna impress you. I won't stop until I can't move."

elemeownta.pngElementa
Elementa gave the kid a sly smile and held him against her chest, turning so he couldn't see the guy anymore, "Thank you for your help sweetheart." She didn't want to take any chances. This villain had been identified by a witness, had caused damages, injuries, and potentially even deaths. Even if he was acting like an idiot and trying to get in the middle of this mess, she wasn't. Taking. Chances.

Not with a little kid here.

Elementa held her free hand out, pointed finger-gun style, and zapped him with a massive dose of electricity. As strong as a taser! She was proud of that little trick. Made capturing people way easier! Wasn't an easy one to figure out, either. Took ye- uh. Was he ok?

IVORY
Ivory groans and simply turns the faucet off. Of course the first thing she'd here was complaining from an alien liquid "Get ower it awready. That's how come ah tell ye tae scouk in mah back-pack sae ye dinnae hae tae see them." Ivory grabs a dry towel from out of the closes and dries her face off before putting the towel back once she's done with it. "And thankfully enough fur th' baith o' us, neither o' us hae chemistry th'day. We hae th' day aff 'til th'morra. Sae that gives me time tae keek ower th' telly 'n' see whit's freish. Here's hoping that hee haw is happening sae ah kin kip in some more..." Ivory walks into her dorm's small, joint living and kitchen room and sit on the couch. She reaches for the TV remote sitting on the arm of the couch, pressing the Power button to turn on the 24' in flat-screen television sitting on a small bookcase. She shifts through the channels until she finds the local news channel and listens in on the happenings of today.

Technology was a wonderful thing that people often took for granted. While, sure, she was using some sort of fuel to stay up in the air, by no means was she exhausting herself in her environmentally-controlled exosuit, and she was able to keep her attention on other things as she kept locked in the air, like that bumbling idiot who had put on sunglasses and started staggering towards the scene. Other heroes who had the ability to fly in some form or another would have had to train to keep such a power in check, and while she couldn't say for certain that it'd be any major burden on their attention-span, surely being able to let a Virtual Intelligence handle all the little details made things much easier in the long run.

That said, she was too focused with her rifle on target to notice in time what the others who were out of her sight - such as Elementa, were planning to do. Namina had made note that the electric signals coming from the target were likely due to a pacemaker, and had advised Alexandria to change weapons or risk killing the man. Of course, she was going to oblige. While anchoring the rifle to her chest with her left hand, Alexandria's right tapped twice against the Exosuit's outer thigh, which popped out a different, non-lethal energy projecting firearm - a sidearm with a simple sight that linked to her Heads-Up Display in real time. Just as she had done so, though, her attention was snatched by Elementa just in time to see her lift her fingers and mimic the gesture of firing a gun.

"Elementa, Wai-!!!"

She couldn't get the words out in time, and Alexandria was moving the moment the bolt of electricity struck the bumbling fool. The man had a pacemaker, and of course, Pacemakers and Electricity didn't like each other. It was like the pacemaker cheating on the battery with some other source of energy, which obviously the battery didn't like, and did something silly like in those early two-thousands dramas such as fry and be incapable of supplying the pacemaker with power. Which meant that suddenly, the man was now on borrowed time... Er, maybe that didn't line up well with metaphors, but she wasn't the type to wax poetics, so she wasn't exactly going to be skillful with metaphors - unless she was insulting someone, but she wasn't.

Alexandria had cleared the distance between her and the man in no more than a couple seconds, and set to work. If she remembered her courses right, whether the man was currently awake or not, the pacemaker's unit was going to be directly under the skin. She wasn't a fan of slicing a man open, but...

"Namina, get an ambulance!" Alexandria barked as she dismounted from her suit and began snatching parts of her rescue kit from Mantis. "Unknown threat down, requiring aid for a zapped pacemaker."

In response, the blooming plates that had opened to allow Alexandria freedom from Mantis's shell snapped shut, put away the energy-directed weapon, and detached the taser rifle from it's place on its chest to take up an overwatch position in the sky once more.

She couldn't blame Elementa, to be fair: There wasn't really any way she was going to know that the man had a pacemaker in, but part of her still wanted to at least snap at her for simply deciding that she'd just zap the bastard instead of assisting Glass in detaining them. Weren't they trained in using grappling and restraining techniques, or was it just "Oh, you got powers, here ya go!" and off they went? No, she couldn't just assume or even think of it at the moment. She had business to tend to, and he seemed 'Normal' enough that she could probably restrain him on her own if she had to until paramedics arrived on-scene....

First she had to shoot a cat, and now she was going to have to do all this. Yay, heroism...

char_501_durin_1.png"shit shit shit late for classes" a young woman said as she struggled to quickly get clothed. Sure she picked night classes willingly but she regretted it ever since because she kept forgetting about them. Finally putting on her glasses she walked out her door, And ended up in a strange shop. As she stared about confused her eyes went wide. "AAAAAAAGH" she screamed holding her head in pain, falling to the ground. Blood trailed from her eyes as it felt as if something was drilling into her skull, visions of fire, of horrible mayhem, carnage death destruction and chaos flooded her eyes no matter where she looked. Hunching over her screams were interrupted as she coughed up blood the feeling of hooks tearing into her skin and pulling tight, as if her entire body was being turned into a modern art piece. Finally, after 5 minute of this nightmarish torture she was left on the ground panting heavily, "i.....I am cain" She weakly said crawling to a table and using it to help herself stand. her shirt had bloodstains on it as she struggled to make it to the clerk table. A set of journals beneath, she weakly grabbed one and begun to flip through them, Various records of past cains. She didnt know why, but she could feel something in here would help her, and finally she landed on a bookmarked page it was a potion recipe, a previous cain had made it to help with the pain of new cains, reading where it was she weakly opened the drawer and chugged it. Gasping for breath, she could feel the pain slowly subsiding. "r-right, yes... previous cain dead... Relic still needs retrieval." She struggled to stand and hobbled around before grabbing a random weapon relic, a small looking wand. And begun wiped the blood from her mouth, everything hurt, her body felt as if it had exercised for hours, but the house commands. weakly she opened the door and looked out of it, to see the three heroes around the old cain. She recognized a few of them from tv, her chances sucked......
