All according to my Scenario
In a burning Russian city, a distorted humanoid figure staggers through the streets. Its mad gibbering stops as another tank battalion trundles into position and suddenly a psychic maelstrom pierces each man, confirming his worst fears. It laughs as they begin turning their weapons on themselves, only to shriek as a single tank round detonates harmlessly against its body. A blast of telekinetic energy scatters the tanks like dry leaves.

A golden figure stands before a group of religious and scientific leaders, pure wisdom pouring from its mouth. As scientist and priest are united in thought it smiles beatifically, and reveals the monstrous truth that underlies both science and religion. As its audience recoils in terror, it walks off the stage.

Two demigods, one clad in red armor and the other burning light, clash in the ruins of a forest. As fist meets fist, shockwaves shatter the eardrums of anyone for miles around. The red figure hurls a boulder, only for it to be disintegrated with a flash of light. The other then glares, searing its red foe’s armor to grey ash.

It is the Year 20XX.
Decades ago, the Metahuman Project was commissioned by the Americans to replace their outdated nuclear stocks. In an age of advancing technology even nuclear weapons grow outmoded as electronic warfare and more esoteric tactics change the face of combat. After decades of labor, and dozens of lives lost, Liberator Prime awoke. In hours, it had bolstered American technology to an unseen level, and crime rates plunged to nil.
Other countries took notice.
Metahumans, humans augmented by technology or science into superior life forms (often incorporating artificial intelligence), are the next generation of mankind. Due to the incredible cost of the processes, only teenagers can be augmented. Some nations create a new human for this exact purpose, but most simply keep testing on civilians until a subject survives. The results are not, in any conventional sense, human.
A more accurate name for them may be Supergods.
As new Supergods activate, it grows painfully clear that the future will not be decided by humans.
___•••*•••___
This roleplay is based off of the Supergod comic series by Warren Ellis. In the words of the author:
“Supergod is the story of what an actual superhuman arms race might be like. It’s a simple thing to imagine. Humans have been fashioning their own gods with their own hands since the dawn of our time on Earth. We can’t help ourselves. Fertility figures brazen idols, vast chalk etchings, carvings, myths and legends, science fiction writers generating science fiction religions from whole cloth. It’s not such a great leap to conceive of the builders of nuclear weapons and particle accelerators turning their attention to the oldest of human pursuits. Dress it up as superhuman defense, as discovering the limits of the human body, as transhumanism and posthumanism.”
Rules and Regulations
1-My word is law. If I think there’s trouble, I’ll try to be fair and reasonable, but I reserve the right to settle an issue.
2-Although this is based on the Supergod comic, it is an alternate setting. Power levels are capped at city-scale powers, and attempts to god-mod are not acceptable.
3-Time powers are not allowed. Limited perception of possibilities is allowed, but true time manipulation is a no-no. Entropic powers are okay, though.
4-Characters will die. It’s not going to be too frequent, but at the end of this you’ll probably have lost a character or two. After character death, you can make a new one.
5-This setting will evolve and develop over time. A major goal of this game is to create an interesting storyline and setting.
6-If a scene is going nowhere, move on to something else. Don’t get stuck on one thing, and don’t worry about moving on.
7-Follow all RPnation rules and guidelines as usual.
8-Relationships between characters, romantic, platonic or hostile, are encouraged.
9-This is a violent, cruel setting. Although it will be toned down, death and horror will occur. However, try to keep it safe for work, and avoid excessive gore and atrocity.
10-I reserve the right to add and remove rules as I see fit.
Supergods Character Sheet
Name: Both a Supergod name and a human name if you lived a regular life. The human name, although forgotten, can have dramatic effects on the Supergod. Most Supergods have a two part name, such as Lunatic Engine, or Fabricate Transmutation.
Personality: A Supergod often retains hints of its prior existence, but it is largely a distinct being.
Appearance: Think humanoid, yet distinctly not human. Some Supergods have only an unusual eye color, most are far more strange.
Gender: Obvious.
Age: All Supergods are teenagers, due to the limits of adult bodies. Characters should be 15-19 years old, with older Supergods having more limited tech while having superior experience and ease of use.
Country of Origin: A country or organization made you, forged your form and shaped your mind. Which one, and do they still have control over you? Or are you rogue?
Base: This is the base you were made in. A simple description of the base and what sort of features are in it, such as weapons or advanced experiments.
Origins: How did you get your powers? Were you injected with nanotechnology or designed to tap into zero-point energy? Maybe you were forced to meditate on every cell in your body simultaneously. Only you know.
Purpose: Why were you made? As a military weapon, or as a philosophical aid? Perhaps you were created to solve your creator’s problems.
Human Goals: Two to three objectives that make the Supergod more sympathetic. Maybe it wants to take care of its family, or live a normal life.
Supergod Goals: Two to three goals that are far more alien. These may be something like assimilating all other beings, or preserving its country by decimating the population. These should conflict with the human goals.
Mental Weakness: Some flaw in behavior or in how it perceives the environment that can be exploited.
Physical Weakness: Some flaw in the Supergod’s physical makeup or powers that can be exploited.
Powers and Features: A power or multiple powers that the Supergod can use. In general, these should be on the level of city blocks to city-scale powers. Be fairly broad, but don’t be too powerful. A good example would be Adam Ila'a and its energy manipulation and disintegration powers.
