Fandom Super Smash Brothers: The Ten Pillars

OOC
Here
She frowns, determined to help others as getting Inkling the beakon was the first step. Perhaps getting in touch with Joker would likely help keep things moving. She’s unsure what Prompto and his friend will do at the time being, her determination is off the charts. Joker? It’s me Paula, the girl who used that psychic shield. What’s going on? Where are you?” She figures telepathy is one way to communicate with Joker, having doubts Bowser’s army would let Inkling escape without a fight and Paula has a few PSI powers under her belt. Although PSI thunder is kind of useless in her opinion. Then there’s her frying pan, a way to give some people a deserving whack upside their noggin.

At least she was able to set up the beakon it was odd she can but there’s no complaints. She dropped her bag lucky for her she had a magic truffle on her, an item that restores her psychic energy. Unfortunately, they’re only found in the trees of Deep Darkness. Without wearing the pig mask no one can find them as they’re small to the naked eye. She slid the magic truffle into her mouth and chewed thoughtfully, and already felt a strong boost rushing up her spine. Luckily she had the common sense to bring food along. Maybe Joker and Inkling could use some healing. It’s their only means as she has no PSI life up like Ness and Poo.

Joker's worst fears had come to fruition in the skies above, and even while he couldn't turn to look, he could hear it. Arsene was being pinned down by Kamek and his plan was beginning to crumble. Before him, he could see the troops beginning to rally again. The fear that once had blinded them was no longer present, and instead was replaced by confidence the thief didn't know they were even capable of. "Dammit! This is bad," he hissed under his breath. Finding strength in his legs, he pushed himself into the air much higher than the average person could. It was a simple jump to avoid the immediate swarm that came at him, but it wasn't enough to stop another wave from ambushing him.

Preparing to jump again, the teen found himself with less time than he had before and unfortunately for him the goombas were on him before he could launch himself skyward. Seeing their spiked helmets aimed at him, Ren's eyes grew widen and he quickly spun out of the way of the first few. It was clear what their intent was; they were aiming to injure him, and in a major way at that. They jumped recklessly towards his gut, clearly aiming for the most vital spot on his body, aside from his own heart. Even with such a clear intent, the thief didn't dare raise his gun to shoot. These weren't shadows after all. Killing them put real blood on his hands and that was something he didn't want on his conscious. Killing wasn't something he did on the living, with the only exception being Jaldabaoth, if it even counted. Killing a god who never should have existed in the first place seemed like a good exception.

Huffing softly, Joker continued to dance around causing the goombas to barely miss his lithe form. However, all it took was one miss step for everything to come crashing down. One step misplaced and he felt a spike grazing along his forearm, causing him to cry out briefly, though he was quick to bite down on his lip and stifle it. Throwing a gloved hand over the cut, he could feel the blood soaking into it. Even without looking he could tell it was a nasty wound. Grimacing in pain, he tried to get back into his previous rhythm though it was to no avail. Another spike grazed his leg, causing it to bleed as well.

Pain surged from his newly opened wounds, and for a brief moment tears seemed to form at the edges of Ren's eyes. He was in pain, despite how much he tried to hide it. His usual swift movements were becoming sluggish and the longer he held on, the more obvious it was to see that his state was rapidly deteriorating. For someone who stood so strong usually, he was finding himself uncharacteristically overwhelmed. Maybe his time off from the Metaverse had caused such a thing. It was understandable. He and the others had thought it was long gone until recently when prisons had begun manifesting. Still, could he really be this weak? He couldn't tell.

His efforts continued on, despite the edges of his vision beginning to blur. Squinting in order to see his desired path, Joker could make out the orange silhouette of Inkling in the distance. The girl bounced up and down, quickly transforming between her two forms. Oddly, a smile crossed the teen's lips and he removed his hand from his arm wound to reach out in her direction. It was then he could see it quivering. Was it from fear? Blood loss? Something else? He wasn't sure. All he knew was his body was reaching its own limits and despite that, he still pushed forward, somehow managing to stumble and jump through the swarm of enemies, drawing closer and closer to his desired target. It was then a voice echoed out in his head- one that did not belong to Arsene.

Joker? It’s me Paula, the girl who used that psychic shield. What’s going on? Where are you?

His mind tried to wrap around those words and process everything he was being told, but in his current state it was difficult. His mind raced a mile a minute trying to make sure his body continued to function and didn't cause him to collapse on the spot. Despite being a jumbled mess, his mind began to stumble over its own message back to Paula; Plan.... Not working... Inking not safe... Arsene draining.... energy.... Hurt... Bleeding badly... Too many... enemies... It was the best he could offer the girl in return, only hoping he had gotten his point across. Forming full sentences was nearly impossible as is, especially as he trudged forth.

Meanwhile, Arsene was locked into combat with Kamek. The persona himself was hardly fazed by the wizard's sudden appearance, but even he was well aware that this individual was a problem moving forth. Laughing at the mage's clear distaste in the duo's attack, Arsene folded his arms across his chest, clearly being to lax given his situation. "The thief did not go against the deal made with the king," the persona stated bluntly. "There were no rules set against a rescue attempt. My other self merely took advantage of that." Again laughter erupted from the demonic looking being. Seeing idle chit-chat wasn't desired, Arsene watched as Kamek split himself into eight copies of himself and he allowed his arms to move into an attack position. While the magic the mage was capable of did differ from the powers of a persona or even a shadow, Arsene was hardly intimidated by it. Still, he had to be mindful of Joker's condition down below, while not focusing on him all too much.

Huffing silently to himself, the persona spun upwards as beams of magic began to fly his direction. Unfortunately for him, it was impossible to avoid them all. He was a large target after all, standing much taller than the likes of the phantom thief he accompanied, nearly double his size actually. However, even upon getting hit Arsene showed no signs of slowing down. It was clear Kamek didn't understand how he and Joker worked as a duo. While he could take damage, he was immune to feeling it, often causing a small portion of the effects to be felt by Ren himself. He thrived off the thief as is, using his own energy to fight, while also returning his own strength back to the boy. It was a mutual vow between the two- a contract which had long since been accepted by both parties. Still, that did not make him invincible. Even if he couldn't feel pain directly, any attack he took would effect Joker, and eventually wear him down, which was one way to force the persona to disappear. The other came the more hits Arsene received directly. It would eventually force him to disappear into his mask form and be unable to be summoned for awhile. This system was generally why the two fought close together. Arsene couldn't rely on that now though.

Darting down at the Kamek's on the left, he lashed a long leg out at them, growling softly when he watched the clones disappear. He had clearly guessed wrong on where the real one was. Black wings stretching out to slow him, Arsene whipped around ready to prepare himself to fly towards the other set of Kamek's but a weakening feeling began to overcome him. The thief was in trouble. As much as he desired beating the wizard into a pulp, he had to return to the teen and protect him before it was too late.

Giving one last glare in the blue robed creature's direction, Arsene swiftly turned in the direction Joker had run off in and burst off to try and find himself. Scanning the ground below, it was hard to pick him out in the sea of minions, but as soon as a glimpse of dark grays and black appeared in the ripples, the persona nose dived down.

Hearing a whistling sound above himself from the sheer speed Arsene moved at, Joker felt a small wave of relief come over him. Even so, he didn't try to move out of his companions way. Instead, he mustered up as much strength he could and shouted, "ARSENE, BLANKET THIS AREA IN DARKNESS!"

Obliging to Ren's direct order, the persona spun himself around, leading with his leg towards the ground instead of his upper body. He didn't even bother trying to avoid the thief knowing he would have no effect on him anyways. Within seconds, Arsene's long leg slammed into the ground beside Joker and in an instant curse energy erupted from the impact. A wave of black and red spiraled around the attacks central point, covering about ten feet around the pair on all sides, as well as fully covering them from the top. The massive eigaon attack would harm all those in the immediate vicinity aside from the thief and his persona. However, given the massive outburst of energy, Arsene was no longer able to keep his form. As the eigaon began to clear, showing only the pair left standing, blue flames began to take its place. Swirling around Joker, they danced over the thief's face, forming his iconic white mask once more. He was at his limit with Arsene.

Taking a moment to catch his breath and steady himself, Ren lifted his head and took note of the space that had been created. A clear path was now open to him to get to Inkling. All he had to do was take it. Easier said than done. His legs felt heavy and even more than before his vision blurred. As he stepped forward, he felt himself stumble before barely catching himself. Don't give up. You're almost done.

Breathing out, he urged himself forward, doing his best to ignore the pain that surged through his entire body with each step he took. Blood dripped from his injuries, though by now he was numb to the pain. His focus was set on one thing and one thing alone- the orange figure bobbing up and down in the distance, acting as his very own beacon among everything else. His mind was beginning to become blank his feet continued to moving instinctively beneath him, and while it seemed he was about to drop unconscious at any moment now, the radio static and a voice in his ear kept him awake.

"Joker, do you read me?" The voice was staticky in his ear, but clear enough to make out. It was familiar too, but Ren could hardly process it. Again, it pestered him though. "Joker, answer me!" A heavy breath escaped the teen's lips as he slowly lifted his hand up to his ear to press on the hidden earpiece. "I hear you, Mona." His voice was weak and lacked his usual energy, instantly indicating something was wrong. "Don't worry, I'm on my way to your location with, uh, someone who's not very happy with you. Hang in there buddy!" As the signal went silent, another heavy breath came out. He had no time to wrap his mind over what Morgana had said to him, and instead felt his legs giving out on him. Knees buckling, the thief dropped to them, shoulders rising and falling with each breath he took. His mind was locked in to keeping himself conscious that moving had become difficult.

Lifting his head slowly, Ren knew the time to escape was dwindling, and in his condition, he was likely deadweight. Locking his blurred vision on Inkling, he lifted a hand into the air and waved it forward. "RUN! GET OUT!" he bellowed out, his voice sounding both raspy and tired. It was his last attempt to make sure she escaped, even if he didn't. His plan had clearly crumbled, but if she could make it out, then at least it wouldn't have been for nothing.

Steve

The Man of Blocks continued onwards, legs and arms in constant motion. There didn't seem to be any indication of fatigue on the smaller block-shaped man- no cubicles of sweat running down his face. This mad rush continued onwards for around twenty minutes, Steve showing no signs of slowing down nor sending any message through the chat function toward where he intended to take Snake.

A sudden Moo cut through the air, and Steve changed paths toward it. A blocky couple of cows peacefully walked, bearing the distinctive traits of a Minecraftian animal, that being pixelated. Steve swung his hand, and the one nearest to him mooed in surprise, flashing red as it turned tail and begin to run. Strangely, its companion bovines didn't follow, merely watching as Steve repeatedly swung his arm- and despite being a couple of feet away, the Cow flashed red and continued to run. This chase was cut short by Steve swinging his fist one last time, and the cow mooed in pain before turning red and falling over. With a puff of smoke, pixelated objects dropped to the ground, alongside several glowing dots that flew into Steve. Walking over, the leather and beef flew into Steve. Slowly turning his cubical head. Steve set his unmoving eyes on the two remaining cows..!

-------------------------

A short while later, there were no more cows. Steve was now chomping down on the beef he had gotten from the slaughtering. Despite having no pixelated mouth that could open wide, pixels flew off the raw beef before it disappeared entirely. Walking back over to Snake, Steve dropped two porks infront of the military man, before sending a message through the chat function.

steve: here.

If Snake moved towards the pork, it would act similar to those drops from the cows Steve had killed in cold blood, flying into him. Then, a "hotbar" would appear at the bottom of his vision, just 9 squares outlined in gray, with the raw beef appearing in the first one alongside the number 2 in white. Perhaps indicative of Steve giving two steaks?

Regardless, the hotbar worked similarly to the chat function, in the sense that Snake could "think" what to do with it. if he wanted to eat it all he had to do was think of doing so, and a similar process would occur in which Snake didn't put the food in his mouth, but rather it let out chunks of pixels before dissipating, letting Snake feel like he has just eaten some raw beef. Or, he could think of dropping it, and it would be thrown out of his hand, landing close enough to Steve that he automatically picked it back up. Or he could just hold onto it, food that seemed to never grow stale or old could be handy in the future.

Another message would pop up in the chat function after Snake decided what to be with the beef.

steve: where to?

Regardless of his answer, Steve would provide a simple response

steve: ok.

steve: i need to get tools first.

Tools? Before Snake could send a response or adivse that could wait later, Steve was already running to a nearby tree. Standing near it, he began to... well, move his arm at it, in the same motion as he had killed the cows with. Black pixels indicative of cracks began to form, before the part Steve had been punching suddenly.. disappeared.

There was another neat thing about Minecraft Rules. Gravity didn't seem to exist, so when the Tree was essentially cut in half.. it stood, nothing supporting it. Steve repeated this, until all of the wood in the tree was... gone. Leaving leaves hanging in mid-air for no reason at all. Out of nowhere, he was standing completely still for a few seconds, Steve began to use his inventory to create...

Suddenly placing down a block Snake might remember as a "Crafting Table", he got to work.

After standing over it for a little while longer, Steve brought out the new tool he had created, a wooden axe.

Minecraft_items_wooden_axe.png

Running over to another nearby tree, he got to work. It seemed that with this tool, he was able to harvest wood faster..!

Soon, the area would have quite a few leaves hanging in midair for no good reason. Once, what seemed to be a Minecraftian Apple fell down after Steve accidentally mined a group of leaves.

Soon returning to his bench, Steve quickly crafted the only item he needed at the moment, a Wooden Pickaxe.

8287159cc4065333242e159bcf24c205.png

Looking straight down, he began to mine, the ground beneath him disappearing and a block-shaped hole emerged. Carving out a stairway, Steve didn't have to mine far before he found what he was looking for...

Stone.

Mining through it, Steve quickly finished and returned back to his crafting table, getting to work. While Stone wasn't the best of materials, there was no time to go mining for Iron or Diamonds. When he was finished, Steve switched between items in his hand, revealing what appeared to be a stone version of the axe and pickaxe, a sword, a shovel, and a... hoe? Maybe that would come in handy sometime.

Oh, there was one last thing he had wanted to do. Looking at the Crafting Table, Steve pulled out.. what appeared to be leather boots. He had only gotten four pieces of Leather from the Cows, and he had to use it somehow. Equipping it, Steve looked down, expecting to see the boots on his feet... only for nothing to show up. Confused, Steve checked his inventory again. While he had equipped the Leather boots, they didn't seem to show up in the Overworld. Maybe Alex could explain that one if she finished her business in the End fast enough.

While Steve certainly was smart in certain aspects, he was also... kind of a dumbass, to put it lightly, following his hunger or curiosity rather than his blocky brain. Alex was the intelligent one among the duo.

Turning back to Snake, Steve used the chat function once more.

steve: im ready

steve: where we go

Again, dumbass. Someone was really going to have to show the Minecraftian how to communicate properly.

Toon Link & Pit
Location: Southeastern coast, close to Beachside Town (World of Light)
With: Pyra/Mythra ( Ploegy Ploegy ); Jeff ( Kaiju Cat Kaiju Cat )

Toon Link and Pit looked at each other. They were somewhat familiar with Paula and Poo (what an unfortunate name!) as they appeared when Ness used PK Starstorm in the last tournament, and Ness sometimes spoke of them. They also recalled Ness and Lucas talking about a Giygas and a Pokey. During the invasion of the Subspace Army, Ness and Lucas had an encounter with this Pokey, though neither Hylian nor angel were present. Pit remembered Palutena mentioning a Happy Happy cult. If memory served, they worshipped the color blue; odd group! From what they knew, Pokey lurking about cannot be good, but that was a bridge they'll have to cross if they ever even get there.

Pit eyed Jeff's broken bazooka with interest. It resembled the cannons he sometimes used in battle. He still wasn't sure how he felt about humans using such destructive weapons... but thinking on it, Snake uses them, and Snake is awesome! Samus Aran is a walking WMD, and Samus is awesome! Neither of them will let him play with their equipment, no matter how many times he asked. Not so awesome!

"'Hoy!" Toon Link called in an attempt to get everyone's attention. He pointed to his map. Beachside Town was nearby. There was also a warp pipe that can get them to the Floating Islands. South of them were the Alolan Islands, where Toon Link was "awakened" during the World of Light events. There was another warp pipe there that can take them close to Kongo Jungle and the Military Base. Taking that pipe would cover a huge amount of distance they would need to cross to get to the Stadium! Toon Link explained this then looked to the party to see their opinions on the matter. He looked to Pyra first, seeing her as the adult of the group.

Pikachu
Location: The Forest
With: Samus Aran ( Develius Develius ); Princess Peach ( Minako Minako )

At Samus's order to lead, Pikachu stood on her hind legs and saluted. "Pika!" She giggled, finding her brief act as a soldier to be fun! She dropped to all fours and ran ahead, always checking back to make sure the bounty huntress and the princess were following. The party didn't run into too much trouble. Occasionally a desperate Pokemon would attack, and there were a few Deku Babas and Bokoblins here and there, but nothing that would pose too much of a threat to a member of the Super Smash Brothers.

As they got deeper into the forest, it grew darker and colder. A fog began seeping through the trees. Pikachu's steps grew slower and more hesitant. Her fur began to stand on end. She swallowed and kept moving forward. She knew they were getting closer. She also knew they were entering very dangerous territory!

"PI!" Pikachu squeaked, jumping. She thought she saw a Boo glaring at them, but it vanished before she could confirm it. "Chaaa..."

She forced herself to keep going. The fog began to turn a dark purple. It was then that Pikachu stopped and turned back to the women.

"Pikachu!" She pointed at the purple fog. "Pikapi! Pikachu!"

They had reached the part of the forest that was covered with an energy-draining miasma. Pikachu would go no further. She looked at her two companions. Maybe they can figure out how to get through it? Pikachu was definitely no expert, but her time with Samus taught her that the huntress's armor can protect her from dangerous elements, and even tell her about things! A scan would reveal that the miasma was of a supernatural origin. Breathing it in will cause weakness, and prolonged exposure may cause death. Samus should be safe with her power suit, but Peach and Pikachu will need a means to prevent themselves from breathing in the noxious mist!

Isabelle

Isabelle’s woeful wailing only grew louder as the two drew near, her body freezing in panic . The way they silently slithered towards her without any sort of expression on their faces (masks? Isabelle couldn’t exactly tell), was almost as unnerving as the manner in which they seemingly glided across the floor like a roomba, Isabelle far to focused on the fact that these mysterious cloaked people were very likely about to end her life rather than the small glimpse of writhing tentacles beneath their robes.

But before Isabelle could even beg for mercy she’d feel the creatures’ voice wash over her. Compared to all of the other frightful aspects of the cloaked figures, their voices were anything but. Sure, one may find the robotic nature of their tone to be uncanny, but for Isabelle it was almost soothing in a sense, as even through the mechanically crafted sound one could still make out the figure’s…humanity? Well, ignoring the fact that nobody in the room was actually human. She supposed a better word might be empathy or compassion but the point still persisted.

Isabelle sobs melted to a soft whimper as the voice continued to echo throughout her mind. They spoke of the Smash Realm being shattered by an imbalance of light and darkness, something which immediately brought forth a reaction from the little secretary. Scooching herself into a kneeling position, she’d wipe away her stray tears with a paw.

“Like with the battle between Dharkron and Galeem…”

She shivered at the thought of something even remotely similar to the two happening to the realm again. How her friends and allies were turned to spirits or puppeteered by the two beings. How she had been controlled and forced to fight her friends until broken free from her spell. It had been completely and utterly awful in every sense of the word. Still, she couldn’t linger on the memories for long as the robed figure’s eyes would briefly flicker before continuing.

They spoke of the fact that while they weren’t native to this world, they had faced a similar conflict in their own universe which could only be fixed through finding balance between light versus darkness, and chaos versus order. She nodded along, taking in every word.

The sentinels’ sudden movement towards the coffin would startle Isabelle, as she’d quickly exit from her sitting position and follow them over towards the object. She’d stumbled as the ground shook from a nearby explosion, her tail going between her legs. But soon enough she’d meet them over at the large sarcophagus, standing at it’s front while the two figures guarded its backside. For a moment she’d unconsciously reach a hand over towards the coffin but quickly retracted it back, knowing now certainly wasn’t the time to let her curiosity take over. The strange object certainly didn’t look like it was something to be taken lightly, and the strange voice’s now glitchy words did nothing to dispute the idea.

“S-someone is in there?” She’d stammer out in surprise.

Not just a someone, according to the voice he was the one who brought balance to their realm, though with his duties completed was now unable to return to it. The words used to describe him, how even through the increasingly glitchy voice they stressed the idea of him being locked in an eternal battle, painted a rather somber image.

A hero who never could enjoy the peace he himself brought. Someone who was regarded as an asset, like a tool left to rot in its box until it was needed once more. Would it be moral of Isabelle to force him out of the closest thing to peace for the sake of the realm?

The ground shook even harder as an explosion rocked the hallway, something was definitely coming their way. Sensing the lack of time, the voice carried on, proposing to Isabelle an offer.

She, by all means just an ordinary secretary, could hold the responsibility of awakening the man inside the coffin, and lead him to resolve this imbalance that plagued the realm. However The voice didn’t mince their word’s, as they referred to the man as a slayer, the title in of itself holding many violent implications. Could she truly be responsible for such a task? Would the man in the coffin be angered at his sudden awakening? There were so many questions and no time for answers as the doors behind the group were pried open.

Sephiroth.

Despite the fear returning back tenfold, Isabelle forced herself between the sentinels and Sephiroth, pulling out a toy hammer and aiming it at the man. If it weren’t for the direness of the situation one might have found the scene to be laughable. A puppy that could even reach up to Sephiroth’s knees attempting to protect the two figures from harm. Even her tail did little to hide her fear as it lay curled up between her legs.

Yet the silver haired man didn’t even give her a passing glance as he addressed the sentinels directly, that cruel murderous side she’d witnessed from him now replaced only by mild curiosity. Still, the dark maroon stains that hid themselves amongst his black leather clothes did little to hide his true nature, something Isabelle knew could come out at any moment.

The only thing Isabelle knew was that of her own lack of knowledge. She knew little of what true situation was plaguing the realm, she knew nothing about who these guardians were nor what true intentions they may hold. She didn’t know if her friends were waiting at the stadium or had been kidnapped like herself. She didn’t know why Sephiroth had brought down so many people for the sake of this ‘Jenova’, nor for the matter of why she was brought here to begin with. But for any of those questions to be solved, she’d need to get out of this encounter alive, which she surely had no chance of by herself.
No, as much as she feared it, she knew there was only one way to ensure her and the figure’s survival against the monster standing before them.

“I…“

The bells on her head band rang with a gentle chime as she softly nodded her head.

“If it means I’ll be able to protect everybody then…”

She took a nervous step forwards, clutching a paw tight against her chest. After a moment of hesitation she would look up and stare directly into Sephiroth’s cold eyes as she uttered what very well could be her final words.

Even through the combined efforts of Kamek and Corporal Paraplonk's arial efforts, alongside Sergeant Guy's ground support, neither wouldn't appear to be enough to stop the phantom entity from continuing its fierce onslaught. Sure they were hitting it here and there - even it couldn't dodge every single bullet - but he didn't seem to show much pain at all! For as far as they knew, Arsene was a summoned entity that the school boy could summon on the dime. And it dared taunt them! The absolute nerve! Curse him! Curse his owner! Curse the inkling! Curse everything! Nonetheless, the second-in-command wasn't going to fail King Bowser; not when the situation was this dire.

The Kamek clone on the left would instantly vaporize upon impact, disappearing into a puff of harmless smoke and a chuckle of spiteful laughter. One down, seven more phantoms for the fellow phantom to guess through. They were all zipping by in a fury of blue streaks, trying their darnest to disorient and tire out Arsene for a chance to make a powerful counterstrike. Yet they wouldn't have to. A sign of weakness emitted from the phantom's form; a hint of hesitation! Kamek's worried expression turned into a victorious grin. So it wasn't invincible after all!

And as Arsane glared at the real Kamek, he'd see him raise his wand and prepare to lob a spell. But not just any ordinary spell; a transformation spell! He was gonna transform Arsene into a goomba for which he'd HAVE to serve both he and Bowser! But before he'd get the chance to aim, Arsene would flee back to where the Joker currently was on the ground. Kamek cursed upon missing his chance to enslave the phantom - if he even could in the first place. But with morale now on the up and high, it didn't matter. All what mattered now were two solid objectives:

"Seize that pathetic ink-THING!" the magikoopa screeched towards the now idle Corporal Paraplonk, "I will take care of that meddling kid!"

He was growing confident that his minions could handle it~

Agent Three quickly deployed a splat bomb towards a horde of minions, splattering them in damaging ink as they were pushed back by the impact. The survivors would groan and moan at their filthy situation, some slipping as they attempted to haul back onto their feet. It was a colorful mess, one the inkling was about to take advantage of. Yet charging down behind her, Sergeant Guy was barreling through the horde as fast as his little feet could carry him.

"HALT, YOU SCAMPERING SCAMPI!" he bellowed out as he began to take the Bill Bazooka from his back. Yet with all the pandamonium surrounding him, several goombas and koopas began knocking into him, nearly causing him to drop his weapon multiple times! "CHECK YOUR ZONE, YOU BUMBLIN' BAFOONS!" the sergeant bellowed angrily as he prepared a net to be fired at Agent Three.

Just as he was about to fire the distracted target, she would take off in a flash; not seeming to even notice the poor sergeant's valiant effort amiss the chaos! Out of breath and completely left in the dust, the defeated Shy Guy simply muttered numerous obsentities as he threw down his bazooka in frustration. "OH GOSH DARN DIDDILY BLOOPER-BART!" he yelled, "COME BACK HERE AND FIGHT LIKE A TRUE SOLDIER!"

Meanwhile, the horde were quickly wearing down Arsene's master one strike at a time. Despite Ren's speed and quick thinking, he too wouldn't be completely spared by the minions bashing and slashing into him. It was miracle he was still even conscious, let alone on his feet. But his heroic determination to save Agent Three was more than apparent. He will fight tooth and nail, while bobbing and weaving as fast as he could to ensure his plan would be for naught.

For indeed, when he called upon the Phantom Thief, he ordered him to blanket this battlefield in darkness! And with a powerful stomp from Arsene, he would get his wish. A powerful wave of black and red energy erupted from the place of origin, burst through the horde for 10 solid feet in diameter. Those caught in the blast would find themselves swept away completely, or worse, disintegrate on the spot! Even three false Kameks, who were descending rapidly at the Joker, would find themselves as casualties of the blast. Four clones now remained. While not nearly enough to halt the horde in its entirety, it certainly caused a significant break in the attack, as the minions stopped for just a moment to assess what just happened. Only quickly return to the fight once the spectacle subsided.

But after he called upon his mysterious ally, he'd see a peeved Kamek and his remaining clones teleporting to his location and surround him.

"Your foolish plan ends here, BOY!" Kamek cackled as all five rose their cackling wands towards him, "Lord Bowser will be pleased to see me take the both of you in!"

Agent Three cried out for Joker as she swam for her life in her faster squid form. In this form, the minions had barely a chance to attempt in seizing the quick-paced prisoner diving and popping out like a runaway dolphin! There's wasn't much they could do, except hope and pray they got their hands on her; only to find themselves eating ink and mud. It was turning would very much like she was finally going to get away!

But suddenly, upon breaching the surface, Corporal Paraplonk and two other red paratroopas would swoop down and attempt to grab ahold of the slimy squid! "Haha, Gotcha!" he cheered as they began struggling to lift her off the ground to get airborne, "Woah WOAH! Keep her steady, fellas! Whatever ya'll do, don't you dare drop her!". Yet it was proving to be a difficult challenge, as their grip was incredibly unstable by the time they were so much as barely 10 feet off the ground. Struggling fingers against slippery skin constantly put them on just on the brink of dropping her if so much as a violent gust of wind disrupted them.

Yet they, unintentionally, seemed to be taking her closer to where Joker was; being slow to turn back around. If she could time it right... perhaps there was a chance she might be able to drop down on both he and Kamek standing off below...

Paula’s eyes narrowed as Joker explained his plan is failing, not if she can help it. She had to help the boy succeed in his plan and get Inkling out of Bowser’s grasp. Paula knows what to do though it relies on her praying ability of all things. It’s laughable as its effects are totally random. It was only useful against their battle against Giygas; it used the power of all their friends they met on their travels as means of fighting Giygas. I got this, I can help you, She spoke to Joker, closing her eyes tight as she began praying. Please hear my prayer, the boy named Joker needs your help. Please answer my call, She sensed the boy engulfed in a warm, soothing, light meaning it must’ve worked well. The PSI Life Up would rejuvenate him, healing his wounds, he won't feel fatigue anymore. Fortunately for her she doesn’t need to be close in range for her praying ability to work on Joker, sensing the darkness.

She has no idea what damage the darkness would be do to her body it’s not worth the risk. It would be make more common sense for her to be out of sight and out of danger. She wants to help from afar, heaving a sigh of relief. And she glanced where Joker went off to, hoping like really hoping Inkling and the boy can get to safety. At least she can offer some of her food for later as dinner and for friendship. Now she wonders if Jeff is alright next. And once again Paula concentrated on his whereabouts and he seemed okay to her. He looked a bit worse for wear, but fine.

link and ipona arried to the jungle , his steed seemed tired from the route so he decides to start walking with his horse , maybe even set up camp .
as he walkes through he's reminded of the tournament , all the fighting felt great but he was instantly thrown back into combat back at hyrule.
suddently he hears the sound of people talking , femiliar voices .
he quickly kneels foreward as ipona begins galloping towards the direction of the sound before sliding and taking a stop.
link recognises most of the people in this group , yoshi , captain falcon , and , is that sonic? , no sonic's quills are blue.
he just shakes of the confusement before giving them a loud "HO" from behind them and waving at them.

With Pikachu leading the expedition, Samus wouldn't be far behind. Strolling slowly behind her, the bounty hunter proceeded to keep tabs of the native wildlife and their general surroundings. She was especially cautious after her encounter with a Dharkon-infected pokemon, though she was confident in her abilities to put any aggressors that came their way. For the most part, their journey encountered little resistance; save for a selection of familiar creatures trying to slow their progress. Their names eluded the bounty hunter, but she could tell that they came from Link and Princess Zelda's realms.

At one point, Samus would find herself walking beside a scum-filled pond, before finding herself step on a specifically large root and rudely awaken a large carnivorous plant! The thing lunged at both her and Peach, but a well placed missile shot at the back of its throat would cause it to wither and sink back into the bog. She thought it was a Piranha Plant at first, although its more menacing, whip-like features made it standout against the perky red-and-white spotted variety of Peach's realm.

Another point, they'd encounter a camp of Bokoblins - short stouted, pig-like goblinoids - that attacked them on sight; their hungry maws locked in on eating Pikachu! Though they too would be no match for either of their capabilities; with Samus even grappling one with her grapple beam and slamming it into a tree.

There were also a few pokemon the group encountered along the way: from a trio of aggressive Beedrill, to a rather territorial buck Stantler, as well as them having to make space for a medium-sized tribe, consisting of Grookey's, Thwakey's, and Rillabooms respectively, walking across their trail. Samus thought she even saw what was a female Torterra foraging for food deeper into the tree-lines; recognizing the pokemon's turtle-like appearance and the sprouting tree on her back. So far, everything in this forest seemed in relatively good health. No signs of Dharkon's influences so far; though she couldn't help but keep a careful eye on anything suspicious.

As they treaded deeper into the old growth forest, Samus would notice that the environment was beginning to grow steadily darker. The sky above, once bristling in warm light, was steadily being choked out by the thick overarching forest canopy. Even her visor showed the temperature beginning to steadily drop into chillier levels. While the armored warrior would benefit from her suit's on-board heating (and air-conditioning) module, she became mildly concerned for Peach's exposed upper-arms and Pikachu's short fur. Her armor would vent out a warm heat that they could huddle against if necessary, but she didn't have anything onboard that could keep them permanently warm.

The gloom of thick fog also blanketed the forest, causing them to see only a maximum few feet ahead of them. By now, Samus would switch her visor to thermal-imaging; allowing her to see the heat signatures of any entities in poor-light conditions. They were going into risky terrain; and while she wasn't as deterred by these environments, she could tell the others were already becoming unsettled by this. Neither would she blame them. For who knew what lurked just beyond~

Pikachu's sudden squeak caused Samus to immediately point her cannon towards the direction in a combat-ready stance. Though there was nothing for her to see or any heat detection to pick up. The huntress sighed as she returned to neutral stance, before resuming their walk. Even she couldn't help but feel just a hint of uneasiness from this place. Yet a healthy amount of fear is vital for a warrior like herself to stay alert at all times; an essential gene passed down from thousands of years of evolution and experience.

Eventually, the white fog would slowly begin to turn into a thick purple color. Samus quickly noticed the change, giving a quiet expression of unease. Though it wasn't portrayed at herself, given that her suit can and has already been filtering out the substance effectively without issue. Rather she was worried about the effects it might have on the other two. And it seemed right that she did. For it was at this point that Pikachu would refuse to walk further, pointing at the purple fog with audible worry.

"Let me take a look."

Acknowledging it, Samus halted and quickly switched to her scan visor. And after a quick scan, it only confirmed Pikachu's suspicions. "Get back." Quickly, the bounty hunter rose both arms to her side and began walking them out of the purple ooze until they were mostly within the relatively clean fog. Once her visor confirmed they they were out of the "quarantined" zone, she turned to face both Pikachu and Peach.

"That purple fog is toxic." she stated bluntly, her arm cannon now stretching in its direction, "Comprised of an energy-draining substance. The longer you'd breathe it, the weaker you become. Wouldn't be surprised that you die if you're in long enough without protection. My suit can filter out the toxic chemicals, but I fear the two of you are vulnerable to its effects." She took a moment to glance into the fog, thinking about its potential origins, before speaking again. "I will scout ahead to see what I can find; you two stay put. Don't follow me until I give the signal. If you hear three missile explosions in a row that's your cue. And if you're feeling too weak to continue on, return back here IMMEDIATELY."

"Understood?"

Princess Peach

The pink Princess had smiled at Samus when she agreed to follow the little Pikachu and fought bravely and quietly in tandem with her allies. It was a nice distraction from everything happening in this realm AND her realm... The Mushroom Princess would much instead think about taking down baddies than her feelings for a certain mustachioed Italian Plumber...!

She was SO into the fight, in fact, that she didn't quite notice something was amiss in this forest (and probably in the whole realm)...

Until it was too late, of course!

"Ah! Yes!" Peach cried out as soon as Samus offered herself up to scout ahead, which made sense as if anyone was protected enough to go into thick, purple toxic fog it was the armored Bounty Hunter.

Three missile shots sequentially. She nodded in affirmation at the great Bounty hunter.

"Goodness, What is going on..." She muttered quietly to herself, deciding to sit down and motion for Pikachu to join her on her lap.

Mixed monsters, Toxic fog, and no explanation for how everything got there...

They couldn't be protecting the tree Pikachu was looking for, could they? No... Their placement would have been much for tactful...

Wait...!

Could they be here to try to DESTROY the tree Pikachu sought?!

"Pikachu," Peach softly whispered, not wanting to get anything's attention they didn't want, adding, "Those things... They're here to destroy that tree you want to go to, aren't they? That's why you want our help to save it, right?"

But one thing still wasn't quite clear to the Princess of the Mushroom Kingdom: WHY that particular tree?

It was slightly bigger than the others on the map, sure, but was this deforestation random destruction... or something more sinister?

The placements of the monsters was random enough, to Peach at least... But their numbers might NOT be...

As the doors pried open behind Isabelle, the sentinels' perked suddenly towards the figure standing ominously before them. Unlike the tiny timid Shih Tzu before them, this entity oozed a sense of unease and dread through the entire complex. With a cold expression coming from his green cat-like eyes and wielding a blade nearly twice his height, it wouldn't be surprising to see why Isabelle appeared to be terrified of this silver-haired individual. But the man seemed to pay little attention to her. No... his attention was at the scene unfolding before his very eyes. The sentinels, the sarcophagus, even the mysterious voice that emanated throughout the room itself. Who were these entities? Reasonable questions for a man now sheathing his blade; ceasing his attack for a more... diplomatic approach.

But the voices... would remain silent. Deafly silent.

That was, until Isabelle accepted the accord.

“Then I will awaken the Slayer”

There was a brief pause, as the silence continued to cloud the room. For a moment, it would seem as if her voice wouldn't be heard... but then there was a reply.

"Understood." the voice complied pleasantly in the same monotone expression, being as clear as it could before its presence gradually began to dissipate from the sub-conscious sphere. His essence was already beginning to deform back into nothingness, but before it could completely vanish... it said only one thing.

"She is worthy."

The sentinels eyes flickered before turning a benevolent yellow, as they turned to face both sides of the coffin. They knew what had to be done... and so the ritual began. Dazzling bright lights and symbols danced upon the tomb, beginning to eating away at the crimson hieroglyphs and pentagrams that bound the figure within.

Stuck firm within his mold cast, the Doom Slayer had been slumbering in his tomb for what felt like eons. His mind floated around through a black void within a vague comatose state, blank and unfeeling to his surroundings. All sensory feelings would be rendered mute, keeping only his breathing stable through his peaceful deep sleep. He had certainly earned it. After all he had been though, the Slayer was finally put to rest... though it wouldn't be under his control. Even after killing his creator - his true creator - in ritual combat and in turn destroying every demon outside his realm, he was never granted the peace of returning to full autonomy as he was in his old life.

Before being placed in the Divinity Machine. Before becoming a Night Sentinel. Before willingly trapping himself in Hell to stop their invasion of Earth. Before Hell's first invasion of Mars. Even before becoming a space marine for the UAC.

The gods above didn't see him as a living being. They didn't see him as the person he once was, blinded by pure rage and blood-boiling vengeance against any and every demon he came across. They saw him as a tool; a weapon... one to wield his intense emotions to accomplish their divine goals. The Dark Lord... the Father... the Khan Makyr... they tried to use him to fix what messes they'd caused. And when it was all said and done, they put him down and contained him in stasis, for whenever they needed him next.

"May the blood on your sword never dry, and may we never need you again."
- CORRAX ENTRY 7:17

Even if he was to go back to living as a person... he wouldn't be able to see his loved ones again. They are all dead... having died when the demons first came to Earth all those years ago. His wife... first-born son... both were killed. Not even his pet rabbit "Daisy" was spared from their hellish carnage. At the very least he could consider himself as having avenged their deaths, but what would he do then? Live alone in the wilderness? Start a farm somewhere? Though really... after all he had suffered through; would such solace even permit his inherited nature to be subdued? Would he really be capable of living a life of true peace... or would he relapse back to ultra-violence and rage? He wasn't sure if he could answer that.

Perhaps, in some twisted way, perhaps his current fate was fitting. Though even he seemed mildly curious about whatever came next...

Though he wouldn't have to wait any longer to find out...

The darkness that swallowed his mind would suddenly erupt into a fury of images that enveloped rapidly in his head. It was a scene the Slayer was all too familiar with. Loose images, thrown out of order and without context, showed him loose bite-sized picture of various events that had transpired within seconds. He'd recognize several scenes from his previous endeavors... the Icon of Sin fight... the voice of Samur Makyr... the Father... the death of the Dark Lord... these were all things he remembered before being placed into the coffin. But intermixed with the familiar... was the unfamiliar. New images also popped in and out of his consciousness.

There was... a mixing of galaxies. Or what he thought were perhaps galaxies or clusters of star formations. There was a colosseum, but not resembling anything like the Kadingir Sanctum in Hell. Things were... fighting in it. Beings of various different backgrounds... looks... realms. He could barely pick out what these fighters were. And then there were images of a large glowing ball of multi-colored light... with three pairs of white wings accompanied by a feminine choir... followed by an ominous dark eye with multiple tendrils chanted by a deep masculine choir. Both would combine and form a particular flaming sphere sporting a cross within it. He even heard music... although they represented only second-long audio clips with cryptic messaging~

"Colors..." "fate..." "distant sparks..." "torch..." "soul..." "light..." "unite..." "ultimate fight..."

It was all a chaotic jumbling of words and phrases he knew little of what they meant. Though what he did know at the very least that it was... presenting something. There was information to be gathered here... but it was loose and jumbled. And then... an abrupt silence.

Until, at last, was a familiar voice. And it recited a speech that he remembered from long ago...

And with one last hurdle, the Slayer is brought to consciousness, seeing his Mark plastered upon the coffin roof slowly moving to the left.

By now, both Isabelle and Sepiroth would see the ritual having been completed. The crimson symbols were now blackened and dull, allowing the sarcophagus to slowly open with a grinding motion. The guardians now lain prone, sprawled and lifeless on the floor, as their ties to the voice were now completely severed. Their purpose have finally been fulfilled... as they too began slowly disintegrating into glowing yellow participles. What was only left were the two dark red cloaks that they've worn now on the ground.

The tomb's lid had begun sliding open, until laying beside the sarcophagus body with an audible clunk.

Another short tense-filled pause later... and a rugged gauntlet comes into view. It grips to the lip of the seal with a firm hold, before slowly hulling the rest of the heavily muscular, armored man into view. The Doom Slayer... has risen once again. He took a quick glance around the room, looking up, then to his right, and then to his left; where he laid eyes upon the Shih Tzu Secretary and the One-Winged Angel both looking upon his resurrection. Not a word came from the man as he stood up and jumped down from atop his sarcophagus, showing the full arsenal of his modified Praetor Suit. By instinct alone, the Slayer would focus intently on Sephiroth, sensing the hostility radiating from his being.

He was waiting for something... perhaps for a response...

Giving a small nod at Jeff's request for food, Pyra was ready to move out and go search for something nearby, but she was stopped by the sound of Toon Link's voice. Blinking in slight surprise, the aegis gave a small tilt of her head. Stepping closer to the Hylian to have a look at his map. Crouching down, she allowed herself to have a closer look. Admittedly, she hadn't seen much of this world's map given how late she had shown up to the Smash Realm, but that didn't hold her back from trying to piece it all together in her own head.

Following what he was getting at, she let a soft hum escape her lips and allowed her head to bob slowly. "I see. We have options on where we can go then," she mused. The warp spots certainly let them travel much further and much faster, which would save them time. That was always a good thing. Who knew how much time they had after all. With how things were, covering as much ground as they could quickly was a good thing. As much fun as it would be to explore the islands, getting to the Stadium felt like the highest priority at the moment. There they might be able to reunite with the other fighters and gain some much needed help and information. Still, they'd have much land to travel even if they traveled to the military base.

Pulling her gaze away from the map, the aegis rose back to her full height, still in thought. Mythra, what do you think is the best course of action here? She figured her other half would have a good idea of what would be best. Perhaps she would even agree with the path she figured was best for them to take. Going to the Military Base does get us closer to the Stadium, but are you sure it's safe to take a bunch of kids there? Who knows what's been left laying around that area. Last thing we need is a kid picking up a dangerous weapon like Rex did when he resonated with our crystal. Chuckling softly at Mythra's word, Pyra could tell she meant well, but admittedly, she had little worries over such things. Besides, the kid who had joined them appeared to have some kind of gun, one she was unfamiliar with. It looked like something one of the Ardian soldiers might carry around though. If only Morag was around to confirm exactly what it was. She was well versed in such weaponry given her position as the military's special inquisitor.

Shaking the thought off, Pyra looked back towards the others and placed her hands on her hips, taking on a confident posture. "I think it would be best for us to travel to the wrap area that'll lead us to the Military Base. From there, we can make plans of getting closer to the Stadium," she announced. "Anyone who doesn't wish to go with, is more than welcome to depart here." As much as she didn't wand to let a child wander off on their own, she knew dragging them along on adventures they didn't want to go on wasn't right either. "And while we're at it, I'll keep an eye out for any food so we can feed those that didn't get to eat here."

He rode into the jungle on a HORSE! Look at him! Talk about 'Being on his high horse'! Eh? Eh? No eh?" Captain Falcon shrugs "Eh. But how've you been, Link? Just coming back from saving Hyrule? For the 20th time. Geez, they REALLY ought to give you a break, man. Your back can only carry so much. Lifting his head to look in the direction the new voice had come from, Yoshi gave a small tilt of his head. Who else could be joining them now? The voice was familiar yet, there were many characters who could make such a sound. Raising his round nose a bit higher, he sniffed the air, trying to pick up on a scent, and much to his own surprise, he caught wind of two new ones; one which he could identify as Link and the other which clearly belonged to an animal of sorts. Whatever animal it was, it was clearly traveling with the Hylian, so likely it was something from his land, or so that was what the dinosaur assumed.

Snapping from his thoughts as he heard Falcon speak, the dino gave a confused stare, unsure of what the other meant by "twink." It wasn't a word he was overly familiar with, but he played along nonetheless and bobbed his head in agreement, despite having already figured out who it was before even seeing them. Trampling on the Captain's parade was something he had no intention of doing. Instead, he let him figure it out himself, or more like he let Link make his presence known for the other to see.

Wagging his tail at the sight of Link, Yoshi began to bounce in his place, nodding along with Falcon's words. "Yoshi see! Yoshi see!" he chimed happily. "Riding horse in jungle seem hard. Link always do impressive things." Stopping his little dance, he watched as Link approached them and he instinctively lifted a hand to greet him, though his simple wave turned into a high five. That wasn't a big deal though. He smiled nevertheless as the hero continued on to do the same with Falcon.

Seeing him stop and call Epona over, Yoshi quietly watched, almost feeling a bit of jealousy towards the attention the horse was getting compared to him. Where was Mario to give him pat like that? Keeping his selfish thoughts to himself, he noticed Link looking towards Shadow and allowed his focused to move there as well. It was clear confusion hung over the other, and honestly, he could not blame him. Everyone seemed to share the same confusion directed towards the hedgehog, though his own had been easily satisfied by Shadow's introduction earlier on.

"That Shadow!" he announced, placing his hands proudly on his sides. "Or maybe he still Sonic in dark times. Yoshi remember a Shadow assist guy though. Hard to say." The confidence he had exuded only seconds before seemed to briefly waver despite him still firmly holding his prideful pose. Whatever they decided to belief, Yoshi was merely happy to be easily remembering things.

Shadow looked at the newcomer and his horse. By seeing Captain Falcon and Yoshi greeting him. He confirmed what he thought. They knew him.

Link who pointed at him. " I am not that faker." Shadow thought as he heard Yoshi speak. " Like the dinosaur said. My name is Shadow. Shadow the hedgehog. I am refered to as the Ultimate lifeform." he added.

Warp Pipe it is, then! The little group will be able to cover a ton of ground quickly. It was agreed that getting to the Stadium and meeting the other Smash Brothers was of highest importance! Maybe Fox McCloud, Samus, or Captain Falcon can even help Pit find Phos! A course of action decided, Toon Link and Pit were ready to get going...

Toon Link looked at his boat, the King of Red Lions. It was a small boat and was really meant for two people at most. How was he going to fit everyone on it, especially with Pyra and Pit being bigger than himself and Jeff? It would be at least two hours of smooth, swift sailing to reach the Alolan Islands. That's going to be an uncomfortable ride with everyone squeezed tight on board! The two Smash Brothers recalled the others using a Lapras to travel, but there didn't seem to be any in the immediate area. Pit suggested going back into the pirate hideout and "borrowing" a pirate ship. Toon Link shook his head. Such big ships needed a big crew to sail it, Toon Link was the only one of the group who had the necessary nautical knowledge, and if the seas really were as pirate-infested as they were told, they would just be a big target.

Pit was visibly disappointed by that. "Aww, but I already have a new name for it!" He waved his hands for emphasis, as though seeing the ship right before him, "The Lady of Light! ... What's so funny, T'ink?"

The Hylian was almost bent double with laughter. After finally getting himself under control, he wiped his eyes and smirked at the angel, an eyebrow raised. Did Lady Palutena really have such a thick, wide wooden aft hidden underneath her white sails?

Toon Link immediately took off running, a very red-faced Pit hot on his heels!

---

When Toon Link and Pit finally settled down, attention was once again returned to the problem with transportation. Toon Link pondered and pondered, then turned his large cat eyes to Pyra and Pit. He smiled sheepishly as he made a suggestion. Maybe Pyra and Pit can "hug" while they were on the King of Red Lions?

Pit's face had just turned back to normal when Toon Link made his innocent suggestion. The angel immediately went back to a bright red! He stood straight and stiff, wings open and feathers fluffed up. He snapped out of it and protested in a loud whisper, "T'ink! Pyra is a girl! You know... a... a GIRL!" Realizing Pyra was right there, Pit turned to her and waved his hands, smiling nervously. "N-not that there's anything wrong with that, Pyra! Hahahaha!"

Toon Link raised a brow again. What, would Pit prefer to hug a boy? Well, maybe Jeff could sit in between Pyra and Pit's hug? That might work!

Snake slid to a dirt-stirring stop a few seconds after Steve, panting hard. The run was a fresh hell for him. Exhaustion, he can deal with. The soldier's pulse quickly slowed to a manageable drum as he got his breathing under control. But this suit is chaffing. In a manner deeper than a rash you'd get from an ill-fitting bathing suit, the artificial muscle fibers in his suit knead against his own muscles like a full-body massage happening across ever inch of his flesh and all at once. At worst, he'd be mighty sore after the day was over with, but it doesn't diminish the squick of his clothes literally playing grabass with him. All that said, he's grateful for the opportunity to stop in every possible way. While Steve runs off to chase the cows outside of his cone of vision, Snake uses that same time to watch for Kefka. Was he still behind them following, or tracking? Had they lost him, and if so, how well? He put his ear to the ground, even engaging the Solid Eye in his search for the clown.

It was happy to report their biometrics were nowhere in sight. For now, at least.

When Steve returned, Snake had started trying to reorient himself. He turned his focus back to the Minecraft man as they approached, noting the slab of red in their hand curiously. The appearance of the hotbar in his vision was treated just as novel-ly, Snake toying with it by 'cycling' through each little grey box. In the end, he returned the meat to Steve. "I don't know what that'll do to my stomach but I can't say I'm excited to find out." He pulled a circular tin from his equipment belt, pulling up the tab to reveal varied dishes of fatty, oily meats. He produced a water and food bar and closed the ration pack back up. This was more his style. Quick, edible, and the effects it would have on his stomach were well documented. Snake alternated between sipping from the water and taking bites of the food bar until the latter disappeared, following that with one big quaff from the water. He responded to Steve readily during that small break.

SnakeDavid: we're going to the military base. i caught a distress signal coming from the compound on my Codec. even if its too late to save anyone, i want to know what the situation is. there's radio equipment, firearms, and vehicles that we can make use of too.

Snake's eyes were drawn to his own message by the inclusion of 'David' paired with his codename. He swallowed hard on his water, almost choking on it and his own surprise. Steve was gone before he recovered enough to question them, so he was forced to swallow his discomfort as well. Maybe the Minecraft man knew more than they let on? Snake put the thought aside and turned his attention back to reorienting himself. The air was warm and wet in his nose, and full of the chittering of birds, insects, and other distant fauna as well. The surrounding trees were tall, with heads of overgrown foliage straddling vines between each other, and down to their roots in some places. "It's some kind of jungle... the Kongo?" Snake thought aloud, happy with the deduction. If it were true, they were already very close to the military base. Which meant he might as well go all the way... But what was the way? He had no other landmarks to guide him, but he did have his Codec. Snake turned his device on again, finding the military base transmission was still active. The harrowed voices on the other end made his throat tight and dry, but he was also surprisingly relieved. Hearing these voices was no guarantee their owners were alive, but he quietly hoped against the alternative. His eyes tracked to the signal bars next to the frequency and ongoing transmission. It could be used to gauge the rough direction of the military base. Not as good as a map, but it would work for as long as the transmission played. Which meant they had to hurry.

He tracked over to where Steve had started to strip mine and met them as they were coming up. "I'll let you know when we're ready to move. I'm going to find out what direction we're going in." He noted the tools the Minecraft man had accumulated and nodded his approval. "Your method of resource acquisition - the fact that you can make your own gear - is convenient for us. Its quicker than me calling for resupply or making an equivalent tool, and yours are decently reliable. Trying to infiltrate the military base will be dangerous, if we can even get there. That clown might still be behind us. Either way, I need you to be at the top of your game, okay, Steve? Lets watch each others backs."

Pichu

As Pichu lied against Sora’s ginormous shoe, he’d be far too tired to protest against Pokey’s advance, having no choice but to allow the boy’s hand stroke through his fur. He supposed he’d allow it for now, considering the boy was the one with the food after all. Thus Pichu would allow Pokey to pet him without protest.

“Pichu…”

Okay with only some protest.

But still, he shouldn’t expect this to be the same case in the future. No, this was a one time thing so he’d better savior it well while it lasts. Thankfully it wouldn’t be long before the boy’s hand was pulled away, leaving Pichu’s head fur a mess.

“Pi…”

He’d try and fix the ruffled up for only for Sora’s hand to gently come down and pet him between his ears. However unlike his reaction to Pokey, Pichu would be much more receptive to the keyblade wielder’s hand, as the Pokémon would lovingly nuzzle against it. Everything about Sora exuded trust and comfort, so when he promised Pichu to keep him safe no matter what, who was Pichu to doubt him?

“Pichu!” He’d purr as Sora wiped a stray tear from his eye.

As wonderful as the moment was, Pichu was still very much close to passing out from exhaustion, so the offer of healing the group up was like music to his ears.

The Pokémon watched curiously as Sora backed up and rose his blade. Yet, rather then fire, ice, or thunder, the soft chime of bells would form at the end of the weapon, as green light cloaked the trio. Pichu felt all of the pain melt away from his body, weeks of prolonged exhaustion reduced to practically nothing. Carefully standing on two feet, Pichu would use his hands to pinch his pink cheeks, testing out their electrical output.

“Pichu!!” A healthy crackle of static tickled Pichu’s cheeks, the surest sign that Sora’s little spell had worked out.

“Pi pi!” Pichu cheered as he twirled around in joy, truly rid from all of the awfulness that the facility had subjected him to. Almost everything.

The mere mention of food by Pokey was enough to make the Pokémon’s mouth water as he’d bounce up and down in anticipation, staring with huge eyes as the two humans picked their own share of the snacks. As much as he’d love to just eat all of the remaining food, even he knew it wasn’t exactly polite to do so. Thus after some deliberation the Pokémon pulled out a sandwich and water bottle before scurrying over to Sora.

Peeling away the plastic wrap from the sandwich, Pichu ravenously tore through his lunch, nearly eating the plastic in the process! However when it came to the water bottle Pichu would attempt to twist the cap off with his teeth with little success, only leaving spit and hit marks along the bottle cap’s surface.

“Pi!” The Pokémon stuck his tongue in frustration as he’d hoist the bottle up and tap it lightly against Sora’s leg.

“Pichu?” He’d need some extra hands on deck if he were to get it open.

As he patiently wait, the Pokémon’s ear perked up as Pokey addressed the two, asking him and Sora about how long they’d been without food.

“Pi…Pichu pi pichu”

The forest had been running low on berries for quite a while, so managing to get a full meal by the end of the day hadn’t been exactly easy. Still, with enough rationing the Pokémon did keep himself from totally starving. But when he got kidnapped it became a totally different story.

“Pichu…”

But now wasn’t the time to worry about that, he was free! So rather then dwell on the admittedly very recent past, the Pokémon quickly returned to pestering Sora with the unopened bottle.

Captain Falcon slowly leans over to Link to whisper in the Hylian's pointed ear "He's going through a phase. Things prooooobably didn't pan out for him back home. Indulge hiiiimmm-ah...Don't tell him I told you that." Captain Falcon slowly leans away from Link before clapping his hands together "So! We were about to go on a FALCON! Stroll. If you, and your majestic horse, would like to join us, you sure can! I know you probably need some time to breath after saving the world and running other people's errands. Like seriously, can NO one in Hyrule do anything for themselves? I'm telling you, Link, Zelda isn't setting the best example as far as social productivity goes (No surprise there). No offense. Talk about "It takes a village" more like "It takes a sucker". Again, no offense. I'm just saying it's unfair to you. Like, you have a life too, you know? Like why go out of your way to help a bunch of randos who're just gonna underpay you? Like your time isn't cheap, Link! Or atleast it shouldn't be. Look, I know you're a kind guy by default, so I just don't want you being underappreciated for what you do, you know?" Captain Falcon pats Link on his shoulder.

Isabelle

Her voice felt like a rock breaking glass, as the silence between Sephiroth and the Sentinels had been shattered to pieces by a single command. She’d find her eyes alternating between the robotic figures, the one winged angel, and the sarcophagus not even a foot away. A standoff unlike any other. And yet, somebody would break the quiet with a simple reply, unsettlingly pleasant in its tone.

[Understood]

Her words hadn’t fallen on deaf ears after all. If Sephiroth hadn’t still been in the room, looking over the group like a vulture, she might have even let out a sigh of relief. But no, she stood frozen like a deer in headlights, waiting for someone to make a move. But before anybody did, Isabelle would hear one last word from the mysterious voice, a confirmation of her merit. She was worthy. Worthy of what? Isabelle wasn’t sure if she truly wished to know that answer.

Isabelle would notice the sentinel’s eyes change to a warm golden hue as they made their way over to the sarcophagus, seemingly about to fulfill their task. She’d find her eyes falling back to Sephiroth, fearing that just one movement might be what would send him back into his villainous nature and cause him to lunge. So, she stood there before him, utterly petrified. Only the sudden noise coming from the tomb would be enough to pull her eyes away, as Isabelle let out a gasp at the menagerie of lights dancing around the room, the glyphs and runes which decorated the coffin being melted away, unbinding the Slayer from his prison.

Isabelle couldn’t imagine just what might come out from the coffin. Perhaps a warrior like the Belmonts, donned in medieval garb and wielding some manner of ancient weapon. Or perhaps someone like Bayonetta, a witch who’s magic and strength alone could destroy cities. Or, maybe he was like Kirby, entirely cute and unassuming in nature until it was time to reveal their true devastating capabilities. Though in the end she supposed what the Slayer looked like or acted like mattered very little, and it wouldn’t be long before she’d soon find out for herself.

The sigils on the wall went dark, but her eyes would quickly be drawn towards the coffin as something quite clearly began to stir. With her attention solely on the opening tomb, the sound of the sentinels falling to the floor would earn a shriek of surprise. She didn’t-she didn’t kill them…did she? We’re they alive to begin with or solely the conduit for the mysterious voice? She wasn’t a murderer was she?!

The tears threatened to return but Isabelle would force herself to hold them in. No, under the eyes of Sephiroth she couldn’t allow him to revel in her fear. And, as her eyes were pulled away from the lifeless maroon cloaks, the sarcophagus lid continued to be pushed aside, finally revealing who had been contained within it for so long.

A man pulled himself up from the coffin.

No…he wasn’t just a man.

Not in the slightest.

He was coated head to toe in armor that might even rival Samus, save for the exposed biceps which were the only semblance of humanity one could take in at a passing glance. His face was near completely obscured by the visor, only the barest semblance of facial structure visible within the dim light. And, as he pulled himself out of the tomb, Isabelle would take in his impressive height, even towering above the Sephiroth in the room. No, this was no ordinary man. Everything about him looked to be made for the purpose of violence. Though Isabelle knew she shouldn’t have been surprised, with a title like Slayer, what else should she have expected.

Still no matter what, the fact of the matter was that the Slayer had finally awoken from his slumber, and now…Isabelle didn’t know what to do.

The Slayer’s head would turn towards her, causing the secretary to freeze up, her voice caught in her throat. Still, she couldn’t just say nothing, so breaking from this petrification, she’d begin to speak.

“I-“

And yet before she could even get a word out the Slayer had focused in on the One winged angel, the rather obvious elephant in the room.

Isbelle swallowed her nervousness down as she took a step backwards. Maybe this wasn’t a good idea. Maybe she’d only done more harm than good in awakening him. But, in the end it wasn’t like she could change her choices. For now she’d need to live with her decisions, well unless Sephiroth put an end to her before she’d actually be able to.

Pikachu
Location: The Forest
With: Samus Aran ( Develius Develius ), Princess Peach ( Minako Minako )

Pikachu saluted Samus, trying to smile despite the situation. As the bounty huntress stepped into the mists, Pikachu's ears drooped, and she hopped onto Peach's lap at her beckoning. It wasn't that she doubted Samus could handle herself (in the Pokemon's eyes, Samus can do anything!) but not being able to help her made the Electric Mouse feel useless. She raised her head as Peach spoke to her and nodded once. Pikachu didn't know what, exactly, was going on, but she felt it in her fur that it had something to do with the Great Deku Tree! If only she could speak as humans could!

Pikachu, struck by inspiration, jumped off Peach's lap and used her Pika-Paw to doodle a tree with an old man's face on it. She then drew what looked to be a Deku nut right next to it. Pikachu looked up to Peach expectantly while pointing from the Deku nut to the tree.

"Pi-pikachu," Pikachu whispered, trying her best to say "Great Deku Tree". "Pi-pika-chu."

***

As Samus walked deeper into the fog, she'd eventually find herself in a small woodland village. It was once a peaceful village where the inhabitants lived in harmony with nature, but now the restless dead roam its dirt roads. Stalfos and Stalchildren, wearing the ragged tunics of simple peasants and huntsmen, wandered without a destination, their rattling bones and hollow breaths breaking the silence of the forest. Any that were close to Samus reached out to her, though their intent did not seem malevolent; the lights in their dark eye sockets almost seem to be pleading to her.

There was a cackle, and a Poe appeared! It flew in circles around Samus, laughing maniacally as it readied a fireball to throw at her. Before it could, a wooden arm slammed into the Poe's lantern, shattering it and driving the evil spirit away. A Trevenant, along with a small group of Phantump and Pumpkaboo, stood before the huntress. The smaller Ghost-type Pokemon hovered around Samus, as if appraising her, before retreating behind Trevenant. The larger Ghost-type glared at the woman a moment, then seemingly satisfied, it turned and beckoned for her to follow it. The Pumpkaboo led the way, their lights piercing through the fog. A few skeletal Moblins and Bokoblins, as well as a few bold Poe, tried to cause trouble, but the Ghost Pokemon repelled them. They were unhappy with what was happening to their forest, and having sensed Samus's intent to help, they were providing whatever aid they could.

The group passed the haunted village, following a path until they came upon a large clearing. There, ahead of them, was a massive ancient tree that was once the most magnificent of the forest: the Great Deku Tree! Its face was frozen in a mask of agony, its branches twisted and leafless. A metal stake, longer than Bowser is tall, protruded from its side. Sap flowed like lifeblood from the wound; noxious fog was eminatting from the dying tree. The Phantump and Pumpkaboo let out soft, sad cries as they beheld the state of the forest's guardian. Trevenant gestured to the stake then tried to punch it. Black electricity zapped it, knocking the Trevenant to the ground and scaring away the smaller Ghost-types.

There was a stirring within the Great Deku Tree. Out from its silently screaming mouth emerged a group of five spear-wielding cyclopic demons and two heavily armored angels with flying worms moving into and out of their bodies. Following behind them was... Pit?! The angel that stood behind the enemy seemed to be him, donned in the Great Sacred Treasures, the visor of the helmet down and hiding his face. He showed no recognition of Samus, and with a silent wave of his arm he ordered the demons to attack!

The five Keepahs swooped down upon the huntress, spears ready for thrusting. The two Collins released their Phils, the flying parasitic worms seeking an opening in Samus's armor to inflict their poison on her. Meanwhile the Putt, as that was what this angelic copy was, leaned against the wood of the Great Deku Tree, arms folded, legs crossed, and head tilted as he observed the fight. Well, the copy certainly had the cockiness down pitty-pat!

"Very well then, lead the way." Shadow told Captain Falcon. He did recall going on missions with a few excentric fellows like him in G.U.N. He tollerated them. The Ocarina music performed by Link soothed his mind. He recalled happier times with Maria. She was like a sister to him. She remembered her last wishes. To protect life. He lookec at his three new companions. Perhaps her wishes for him didn't just concerned their world, but all other worlds too, including this one.
