Kiyota Ito
"Me? Married? I think not. How could my parents be so cruel? Marrying me off to a man who is nothing like me." The princess of Selitia roamed the hallways of the massive castle of Larek, thinking aloud what was on her mind. Her voice was dainty and small, hardly above a whisper. It resembled bells in the wind. She let out a small huff that puffed her cheeks out for less than a second.

She wore a lovely cream and gold gown nothing extravagant, only elegant. Kiyota was not one to stand out in a crowd. She enjoyed dressing tastefully and not dramatically attention-seeking. Her light pink hair was done in an intricate half updo. The hair not in the updo cascaded down her left shoulder in soft beachy waves. She had arrived in Larek less than ten minutes ago and had convinced the guards to not announce her presence to everyone in the castle. The king, queen, and prince however would be informed of her arrival. She had decided to roam the halls in hopes of further prolonging the moment she'd meet the prince. She only knew his name and the rumors that speculated around him. He was apparently quite dashing but rather arrogant. She hoped he would be easy to handle since she herself was a very agreeable person. She had found that the castle had many beautiful aspects to it and adored the garden it had in the courtyard.

Kiyota couldn't help but visualize what the two's meeting would be like and what the prince, she was to be wed to, was like.
.

Jamie was somewhat nervous for today. He wasn’t sure what the princess would think of him or what she already knew. Jamie had a feeling she wouldn’t like him, but he didn’t mind. The prince could be rude, snappy, and bossy. He didn’t have a good relationship with his parents because of his behavior. His father was much like him and Jamie’s mother just put up with it from the both of them.

Jamie’s attire was elegant, but not too bold. He stuck to mainly white, gold and black. His casual clothes were simple things like the common folk had. The kingdom would frequently get cold, so items like hoodies and sweatpants were nice to have on a boring day. Several blankets were put into a basket in the prince’s room. Jamie’s dark hair was always kept the medium length he liked it. His outfit for meeting the princess was black and gray. He wanted to look nicer for this meeting and decided to step out of his usual color choices.

The king and queen greeted the princess first after a guard escorted Kiyota to their room. The king smiled at Kiyota and bowed in front of her. “I’m pleased to meet you. You’re a dashing young lady. I’m King Tyrus, and this is my wife, Queen Cadence.” He introduced. A quiet petite woman next to the man smiled at Kiyota and gave a small wave. “It’s nice to meet you, Kiyota.” She said. Jamie walked in at the right time. Tyrus spoke up when Jamie entered. “Perfect timing, my boy. Princess Kiyota, this is Prince Jamie.” Tyrus announced. Jamie smiled at Kiyota and bowed in respect to her. “It’s nice to finally meet you.” He said. Jamie took her hand and gently kissed her hand in greeting, flashing her a wink when he let go of her hand. He was good with first impressions. Holding that impression was the difficult part.

Kiyota was unpleased bu how fast the guard found her, she did not let is show though. She curtsied back to the king, a small yet genuine smile adorned her lips. "My pleasure is all my King Tyrus. Thank you." She said simply, the princess did not take compliments very well. She turns her attention to the queen and her smile grew a bit. She was beautiful. She bowed her head to her in greeting. Kiyota never thought of herself as beautiful but her rare hair and blue eyes caused quite a stir in her supposed admirers. She stood in their presence trying to not seem awkward or feeble. Oh, how she hated meeting other royals.

The door opened and Kiyota's attention was pulled from the queen to a handsome man in a black and gray suit. So prince Jaime's rumors were correct, he is quite dashing. She thought to herself. The king introduced the two and Kiyota curtsied again. As he greeted her Kiyota's cheeks turned as pink as her hair. "Hello, Prince Jaime. It's wonderful to meet you after all this time." Her tone sounded rehearsed as if she had thought a lot about what she would say at this very moment. "I do hope to learn more about you." She said with a rather awkward yet surprisingly charming smile.

The king and queen were both pleased to see Jamie and Kiyota together. Jamie was a trouble for them to deal with, and it was nice to have someone there that maybe could be a good influence for Jamie. She seemed like such a kind and innocent lady. She was the perfect model for Jamie to observe for his own behavior. Tyrus spoke up after the two seemed to be bonding already. “Why don’t we get Kiyota settled in, hm? I’m sure she’s tired from her travels here.” He said. Cadence nodded in agreement. “Yes, we’ll lead the way.” She responded. Cadence linked arms with Tyrus and motioned for Jamie and Kiyota to follow.

Jamie was expecting his parents to force the two together somehow. Maybe they would surprise them with something the young couple would suffer through together, but the prince highly doubted the possibility. Jamie waited until his parents were out of the room, then he turned to face Kiyota. “You’re very pretty, dare I say.” He said. “I hope we grow close overtime.” Jamie smiled at the princess again and bent his arm, offering it to her. “Think we should follow them now?” He asked and smiled some more.

Kiyota watched in silence as the king and queen seem to almost gush over the two finally meeting. She kept a pleasant smile on her face but nothing else. She wasn't pleased to be here and she hoped "settled in" was less permanent than it sounded.

Every once and a while she'd sneak a glance at the dashing prince, wondering if he was only a flirt. Her question was almost instantly answered when he turned to her and commented about her appearance. Her cheeks returned the color of her hair and she broke eye contact with him. "I'd say you are pretty dashing. I do hope we have things in common." She said simply but was hesitant to take his arm. Oh, how this whole situation embarrassed her. After a few seconds, she'd take his arm with her hand. "I think it be best if we left now." She said and turned her attention to the door the king and queen left from.

Jamie smiled seeing Kiyota blush and look away from him. He wasn’t lying, she was really pretty. Jamie nodded in agreement to hoping they had something in common. He knew how little communication they would have if they didn’t have anything in common. Jamie noticed she was a bit hesitant to take his arm and he felt somewhat bad. Hopefully, it was just her being nervous. He didn’t really want to scare her, but he also didn’t care at the same time.

As they left together, Jamie thought over things they could talk about. “So what do you do for fun?” Jamie asked. He was willing to show Kiyota around if he needed to. He wasn’t sure if a servant was planning on doing so already or not. Jamie didn’t mind at all being the one though. He was assuming his parents were leading them to a guest room, but it seemed like they were leading somewhere else. He was confused why she wouldn’t be in a guest room, so maybe he was just forgetting something. Jamie was surprised when they ended up in Jamie’s room. Kiyota had her own bed on the opposite side of the room and her stuff was already in there. Something about her being in this room already pushed Jamie over the bar. It set him off knowing that a girl was going to be in his room that he barely knew. “What is this?” He snapped at his parents. His parents seemed to look disappointed when they heard Jamie’s tone. They were almost done welcoming Kiyota. “Jamie, be nice.” His mother spoke. Jamie walked over to his dad and grabbed his arm. “She’s a girl from an outsider kingdom, why is she already being trusted to be here?” Jamie questioned. His father sighed and moved Jamie’s arm away. “Be nice to Princess Kiyota. She deserves a chance.” Kiyota said. Jamie was about to say something else, but his mother spoke up again. “Jamie, you and Kiyota are the future of this kingdom. Be nice to her and get to know her, okay?” She told Jamie. Jamie didn’t respond to his mother and just walked out of the room. His mother looked at Kiyota and hugged her. “I’m so sorry, Princess Kiyota. He will soften up to you, I promise.” She told her.

Kiyota let the prince lead her out of the room and was a bit shocked when he asked her what she did for fun. She looks up at him with a small smile. "I enjoy playing the piano, harp, and singing. I usually am found in the library or courtyard gardens." She replies. The princess was really a very simple girl. Small things amused her and satisfied her. "What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?" She asked more intrigued in the conversation than before. She did not avert her eyes from him.

When Kiyota noticed that they were approaching a door she looked away from the prince and into the room. Her eyebrows furrowed in obvious confusion. Why was her stuff in the prince's room? Why was it in a man's room that she just met? Did her parents agree to this? How dare they! The prince was obviously just as shocked but much more dispute about it than her. Kiyota was definitely irritated by this arrangement. "I'd like to know why I am to stay in a room with a man that I just met today." She stated, Kiyota however was quite appalled by the prince's behavior. She wasn't offended by the distrust he put in her, since that was perfectly expected. Though the way he handled it was less than expected. She was very uncomfortable when the queen hugged her, they were quite informal for royalty. "Your majesty," Kiyota started, "his distrust in my presence is quite expected. We had just met a few minutes ago and are already moved into the same room. I would be lying if I said I was not a bit uncomfortable with the whole situation." She stated in the best she could without sounding rude. "I think it'd be best if I was to go get a better baring of the kingdom layout while Prince Jaime settled down." She excused herself with a curtsy and exited the room.

How was she going to deal with this situation. She did not sign up for this much trouble in a marriage.

Both the king and queen were surprised Kiyota was okay with Jamie’s behavior. The queen glanced at her husband and then looked back to Kiyota. “We’ll get you moved somewhere else.” The king said and moved next to his queen. “I’m King Nathaniel by the way, and this is Queen Brianna.” The king introduced and gave Kioyta a smile. “We encourage you to talk to Jamie and get to know him, no matter how troubling he may be. As long as you’re patient, he may grow closer over time. Don’t be scared to tell us if he does anything to make you uncomfortable. We want you to feel at home.” Nathaniel explained. Brianna nodded in agreement. “We’ll gladly show you around, we don’t mind at all.” She said.
