Futuristic Strike Team Z (3-5 people) Worldbuilding help appreciated

'Aight. This is gonna be... different from my normal rper-searches in that... uh... I have no plot for this rp other than the base premise and I need some serious help worldbuilding.

So—base premise:

~~~
Strike Team Z is Continent XXX's pet. They are the most dangerous team on the face of the planet, and often sent out as a show of force... whenever they're released, it's like watching a massacre; they're highly destructive, and take no prisoners.
All of them are mostly mechanical. Once, they may have been human, but that is no more. Between the original genetic experiments and the new mechanical enhancements, they barely classify as humanoids. They were all loyal to a fault, following their orders to the tee as they were called. None of them ever came back with damage. Ever.
Until six months ago this year.
Unit Zero Five. The Scout. An exoskeleton made completely of reflective metal that shielded it from view and scanners. It was sent off and never returned.
Zero Three went next.
Two.
Zero.
Driven by fear they didn't realized they possessed, the entire team fled. Their facility was left in ruins.
However, there was something they didn't anticipate; none of them knew how to survive on their own.
~~~

Coolio. That was that.

Quick things to note:

-Every member of the Team was always masked, so no one really knows each other.
-Go wild with enhancements, but keep it balanced, yeah?
-Team members don't have names, at least, they've never been called by them. They have numbered designations.
-All of the team have been called "it" for as long as they can remember.
-75-90% of the Teams' bodies are made of a type of metal (akin to graphene) that is both incredibly light and ludicrously strong.
-All of the Team are at least slightly humanoid.
-That doesn't mean they have to act entirely human.
-Though, they must be intelligent and have some form of communication (doesn't matter if they use it often).

~~

Rules:

‣Do NOT join if you are going to leave a week in! This is going to drag on LONG.

‣ This roleplay with NOT be first come first serve, everyone must apply in order to be accepted into the roleplay.

‣ Face-claims or art are not required, but if you do not have them, be prepared to describe your character in detail.

‣ I currently have no limit on characters, HOWEVER, you must make sure to be able to play them.

‣ I will allow characters only if they're over the age of 13 (mentally, at least); no tiny children, please.

‣If you read these, please hide "C140H42O20" in your interest post, somewhere.

‣ If your character is accepted you will receive a PM from me which will invite you to the discord server of this roleplay (Only for OOC).

‣You can play heroes or villains; either are fine, but I do prefer you have a hero character... that's not to say it doesn't lower your chances, only that villains will not be a really main point in the story, unless they're part of the characters' every day life coughstalkercough.

‣ Character deaths are allowed, just consult with me first so I can write it into the plot.

‣ This is an ADVANCED roleplay and needs to be treated as such. I'm expecting at least two paragraphs per in-character response.

‣Similarly, do not use this roleplay to shitpost and make a crackfic. I hope this can be handled with the slightest sense of maturity, at the very least, though that doesn't mean you have to make characters with cardboard for personality.

‣I will put of a character sheet thread once I have at least 3 people interested (including me).

So... yeah.

I'd be interested in something like this! I love my worldbuilding and stuff so I'd love to get stuck into all that.

Uuhhhhh... I usually start with continents, and for this one, politics may need to be developed a bit... a lot.

Relative power-levels of said continents, resources, biomes, economy, etc.

I'll prolly pass out here in a bit, but for the moment, everything but the Team's history and organization need to be worked on XD

hah yes finally i have tons of robot ocs time to finally put them to good use
not good with worldbuilding tho idk if that does anything

Alrighty, well I'm just gonna start throwing out some thoughts and questions in the meantime, I dunno if you even wanna do this here or in an OOC thread but whatever.

I'm picturing kind of a cold war style international situation? IF we have at least one continent spanning power relying heavily on a cyborg death squad as part of their foreign policy then things are probably kind of tense I imagine, with maybe one or two other major powers as rivals?

So then these couple of factions would have their own ideologies and maybe even their own technology bases: like this faction is into genetic engineering and cyborg type stuff so maybe their rivals counter with... idk more advanced robotics or even like psionics or something more out there.

In terms of political systems the easy answer would be kind of a capitalist versus collectivist type thing but more colourful options could be stuff like some kind of neo feudalism, or a theocracy centred around a state religion. Maybe one or some of these factions have a civilian populace that enjoys the illusion of freedom and a relatively high standard of living, with shady goings on like cyborg death squads being almost completely hidden from them?

In terms of resources than an obvious key one to me would be the metal all our characters are made of, I'd imagine there'd be a lot of fighting to control any deposits of that. Beyond that some kind of sci fiey energy resource might be good to allow some more creative technology and vehicles and we could even look at stuff like narcotics or luxuries that particular powers need to keep their populace placated.

Here's fine.

Hmm, yeah, that's about right. Essentially, it's a time of war. That's about the basis.

Two rival powers would be good, and I think at least one should be in with chemical/biological warfare. XXX leans more toward cybernetics than genetics. They're not actually that good at genetic engineering, so one could be using organics. I dunno. What do you think?

Oooh, that's a good idea. A utopia on the outside with consecutively darkening layers going in. Sp that's the vibe of 1/3, at least.

XXX (I REALLY need to make an actual name for this thing xD)), I'd say, is very military-focused. All citizens have mandatory service hours every year and are half-brainwashed into thinking it's for the good of the country.

Cybernetics are common amongst long-term combat squads, and it's rare to see someone without some sort of mod.

Hmmm... the bio area would have the drugs, I'd say. So... how about a Mediterranean climate with ludicrously tall trees they use to defend? Its6hard to get a fore started because of how wet it is, and something like volcanic vents keep cold from being a viable strategy.

The better part of their citizens are placated with drugs

XXX is in a dessert, I think. That'd be an easy biome to start with. It's rich in naturally-formed graphene (for whatever reason) and other such metals.

I'd say it used to be largely trade-based until the newest line of leaders pushed it into military.

For the most part, energy is just that. Energy. It can be obtained through anything that can be broken down; food, water, dirt. But some materials aren't really worth it.

For sources, I'd like to say that a type of uranium-like metal is leading. It's radioactive, but with the cybernetics, said radiation is easy to contain.

Yeah I like this idea, maybe the genetic engineering used in our characters was originally stolen from them to begin with, that could be interesting.

I'm starting to picture this bio society as extremely decadent and distinctly colonial almost, with a foreign upper-class who run plantation style estates and companies and spend a lot of time chasing ever more luxurious highs. The elites get genetic engineering that makes them prettier, healthier and smarter while the underclass are modified at the whims of their rulers who make them stronger workers or more proficient at combat. Maybe gladiatorial combat is a big deal with elites having stables of exotically mutated servants that fight in bug public spectacles.?

So possibly xxx is a more spartan culture that praises values like hard work and stoicism, maybe leaders make a show of living in modest conditions and sharing the burdens of their people even if in private they import all kinds of luxuries from their rivals. Maybe the shift to a more military focused ethos was kind of a populist/military coup against a more openly corrupt and previous ruling class? They could kind of paint the other major powers as having corrupted the previous rulers and used them as puppets, leading them to take a more confrontational stance against them and increasing tensions as a result.

And then our third faction would be the faux utopia. Some options I think would be interesting to combine with that would be the theocracy idea I mentioned offhandedly, maybe pairing that with psionics research as their tech specialisation to really give them a spiritual/enlightenment type thing.

Another possibility for them might be a really consumerist/capitalist culture, where the people are softly influenced via the media and advertising. The could even be really 50's esque atompunk sorta white picket fence "howdy neighbour" type people while their government secretly disappears dissidents and assassinates foreign leaders. Or they could be a more modern take on consumerism: gig economy, disposable electronics, faux corporate wokeness kinda thing. Maybe the government is secretly or outright controlled by a conglomerate of several important corporations.

Maybe their tech thing would be data and computing? they rely on stuff like hacking into secure systems to anticipate their rival moves or releasing computer viruses, maybe even ai and robotics are used for there actual ground forces so their citizens don't have to be recruited into the military and are kept docile?

If we have a desert and a more sorta Mediterranean thing going on with the other two factions than possibly this third one should be something colder, sort of American west coast with big, wintery cities? The cold and snow would mesh well with the theocracy too I think, we could kind of do mountain monastery type stuff, grand cathedrals that reach up into the clouds?

and uhh, C140H42O20 cause I forgot to do that till now.

Also in terms of names, a generator might be a good place to start, even just to get a feel for the kinds of sounds and consonants we might wanna use. Country and nation name generator here's one I've used before.

Yessss

Y e s. Yes. Absolutely yes.

Sidenote, I think I'mma call XXX Kiever (kai-ver), if that name sounds fitting to you?

You are an absolute genius. Evil airbender-style monasteries.

Okay.

Three major world powers set up.

We should probably stick them all on separate continents because I feel like if they were all on the same place, it'd be a bloodbath.

I think Bio-jungle place should be the smallest, since they have ample access to basically all the resources they need.

Desert is gonna be the most barren and also the largest; temperatures fluctuate from burn-levels of heat to ice cold as soon as the sun goes down.

And then the Mountain place is the middleman.

All islands are neutral territories because they're basically barren heaps of rocks and tiiiiny. Essentially safezone pitstops.

Oh yeah.

Sidenote:

All cyborgs (ugh I don't like this word. We'll call them Enhanced, for now, k?) can ingest and process organic matter. A full human meal gives just enough energy to keep them running for like... a day and a half.

Water is central to their cooling and lubrication systems, so they need it.

I like all that stuff a lot. I guess the only, tiny not even a quibble thing would be that Kievar looks a lot like Kiev and so might give people that sorta European impression, but I don't think its a real issue

Hm... fair.

Got Pleaqua from the generator

It's up!
