Strike Force Zero; Government sanctioned monster hunting

Alexandra

The black-eyed cousin
Strike Force Zero is a faction from the Demon Hunter X book related to the Middle Kingdom line of Old World of Darkness. Yes, kind of obscure, I know, but I adore it.

For the purposes of this game, I will be running it off New World of Darkness rules, because as much as I love the wobbly tower that is the old world, I will not attempt to defend the system. Mechanics conversion has been ongoing, but should be finished soon, and I'll compile lists of specialist equipment, augmentations and psychic powers.

We are all familiar with Hunters.

Those who choose - or are forced - to stand up against the supernaturals who have so long preyed on humankind. Standing in a circle of light, one by one they take their candles, and move into the darkness. Some are extinguished, some survive long enough to burn out, but all flames die in the end. The circle provides more to take their places, but there is never enough; never enough to make a significant difference.

This is the way of the West.

The East hangs in a much more delicate balance; the numerous inhuman Shen are bound by ancient tradition and courtly machinations, but this does not stop their reach expanding. Wherever they stray too far into the workings of man, the Demon Hunters will be there to show them the error of their way; to remind them of the Cycle and why the proper order between all creatures must be kept.

This is not the way of the agency.

Strike Force Zero is the product of one man's obsession, and the singular belief that the time of the Shen has passed. To them, supernaturals are monsters to be eradicated, pure and simple. The agency has no ancient tradition to adhere to, no mystical legacy; instead they embrace technology and superior firepower.

Receiving funding from the Japanese government, with jurisdiction stretching into China, Korea, India and even parts of Russia; the official line is that they deal with terrorism and the international drug trade. While they do indeed deal with terrorism, it is most definitely not the kind the government thinks.

Drawing members from all other official departments, the military, and even Yakuza, the agents are given new names, new faces, extensive training, and access to elaborate body augmentation that allows them to surpass peak human performance.

This is not a game of brief candles. This is not a game of insurmountable odds. The age of the Shen is dead, and it is time to send them screaming back to hell.

This will be a game of 4 - 6 players.

All will play agents of Strike Force Zero team C. Having been declared dead on admission to the agency, you have a blank slate to work with, and your new personal life is at your discretion. Whether you are ex-Yakuza avoiding multiple life sentences, a scientific prodigy, or a former sergeant who has seen a little too much to go back to duty; all have strong reasons for joining and staying with the agency.

Your life expectancy is undetermined; facilities at headquarters can heal almost all extremely grievous wounds if they get you there fast enough. You are trained to be smart; smarter than what you are up against. Their millennia of hubris is your chief weapon.

So, if you're prepared to hunt monsters in a professional capacity, with an arsenal of weapons and technology at your disposal; to out-think and out-plan any Shen who dares to pop up on your radar, then this might be a game for you.

*Raise his hand in the back of the room* I'm interested in joining ! Super soldier with high tech guns that fight monsters, is this heaven ?
