jump.
Calamity.
"It'd be easiest to head back to the beach." Anywhere away from the stupid jungle, and it's stupid, massive spiders. It would set them back from reaching that tower, but honestly, he didn't care. Hell, if they were back on the beach, maybe they could send an SOS to a passing ship or something. It would be a lot safer than a goddamn jungle. After all, there were no trees or bushes for predators to lurk in on a beach. "Let's just get out the damn jungle. Then we can work on getting a fire started."
Five didn't want a campfire. Logically, he knew they'd be safer with one. Campfires provided light, warmth, a place to cook food. They were safety, they were shelter. They were nights spent cuddling with Dolores, mapping out constellations and naming stars, because without humanity there was no pollution. The sky was finally clear again-
"Can one of you grab some wood? It needs to be dry. Nothing damp, or wet." The hog was heavy, but he didn't care. He already ached. Everything ached. What difference was some extra weight going to make? Knowing his luck, he probably pulled his stitches. Either fighting the Swedes, or Lila, or the goddamn retched Sparrow Academy. They'd only been in the motel for two days, he'd been too busy stressing over the situation to check on his injuries, or even take a shower, or a nap...
Speaking of naps, Five was really, really fucking tired.
"I haven't seen any forms of shelter, Akira. I wouldn't be out here if I had." His jaw was tense and his teeth were grinding together. It made his face ache. He looked back over his shoulder at Alec and Akira, making sure they were still following, and finally stepped foot back on sand instead of the tangled grass of the jungle. The ocean was already shrouded in shadow, a deep, black, inky abyss. "I doubt the weather will change anytime soon, so we don't need to spend time worrying about that. If it gets too hot, cool off in the sea. You can both swim, right? I'm not saving your sorry asses if you end up drowning." With a heavy sigh, the hog was deposited on the sand nearby, and he brushed away a decent amount of sand for the fire pit. "Put the wood down here. I'll work on the fire. If someone can fetch some water, that would be great."

Okay, so the kid didn't have a mom. That was just great. A toddler walking around with no mom, no parents? Fuckin' no-one in sight? What the heck were they supposed to do? She didn't know how to take care of a kid. Kai was a kid. And she would sooner swallow lead than let Hisoka near a child that young. Jesus... Why couldn't this poor little girl find a better group of people? One that didn't consist of a child in fetish wear, a wanted criminal and a pervert parading as a clown? With a hefty sigh, she stared down at Latte. The kid was mooing at her again. Was that some kind of jab at her getup? Because she was a cowgirl? Clever, kid. Real clever.
"Wants me?" She blinked towards Hisoka, confusion lacing her tone. And then it clicked. What did kids want? Attention. Latte probably wanted to be carried, or something. Ugh. "You want a piggy back ride?" Was she supposed to just... Pick her up? Fuck... She didn't know how to interact with kids. The last time she had she'd been a kid herself. "Alright. Uh. C'mere?" Putting her gun down at her feet, she dropped into a crouch so that Latte could hop up on her back if she wished. It felt awkward, it was awkward, but it would be a dick move to just say no. She'd be no better than her own parents.
She chose to ignore Hisoka's comments. Because she sure as hell was not impressed. The guy had destroyed her bandana, her favorite bandana. Her designer bandana. She'd spent hundreds on that damn thing! Sure, she was rich as hell, but still! "They're called canine teeth, genius." Fangs? They weren't animals, for Christ sake. "What are you, a damn vampire?" To be honest, that would explain his pasty ass complexion... How could someone be more pale than her? A literal albino?
"Ain't you ever heard of rest, kid?" This would be so much easier if she had her bike. Or Bob. Bob had a built-in cooling feature. She wouldn't be so goddamn hot if Bob was around. The humidity was messing up her hair already. "People can't just walk for days." Were they just supposed to hold their pee in? Wet themselves? What about bathroom breaks? Did Kai not pee? "And 'sides. It's gettin' dark. I don't suppose any of y'all have night vision?" Ugh... If only she'd gotten those eye implants. They'd be way better than shitty ass contact lenses..."We need to find a clearin' or something like that. Things could be hidin' in these trees."
