Hollows have always been the enemies of shinigami, yet have for the most part always been managable. Their sheer numbers are hindered by their inability to organize themselves. That was, until a select few arrancar from Hueco Mundo undertook the task themselves. Hordes of hollows are now threatening the Seireiti like never before, the massive army blanketting the horizon. They have even broken through in the Seireiti itself, the first wave hitting hard.
The first responders to the invasion were the 8th squad, sprinkled with others from various squads in the area. The number of invaders proved to be much more than the shinigami had anticipated, and it turned from a tight-nit defense to a brawl for survival. During the fight, the captain of squad 8 fell, and hope seemed lost. However, desperation brings out strength, and the sheer ferocity of the squad started to drive back the horde of hollows.
In fear, the hollows ripped open gargantas to flee. So many small openings at once rended the garganta across the sky, dragging many shinigami with them. With no choice but to follow, the shinigami entered into yet another struggle with the hollows through the increasingly chaotic garganta path. It lasted for several bloody hour, and was so intense, many of them hadn't noticed the scene changing around them. It was only once the chaos had quieted many of the shinigami were surprised to find themselves alive, and on an unknown sands.
The shinigami were hardly left alone for much longer. Though in much smaller numbers, hollows again began to fight and chase them. After so much fighting, exhaustion had began to set in. Unable to fight anymore, the shinigami had managed to flee to a set of caves in the desert, and set up a temporary camp.
The first few days afterwards seemed the most unreal. While they had repelled a few hollows here and there, compared to the first day, it was a respite. Realization slowly dawned that the group had landed in the hollow homeworld, Hueco Mundo. As did the unspoken thought that they didn't know the way back. Survival was now the name of the game, one day at a time. One of the earlier challenges was hunger. There was only one thing however to eat in such a world.... And, with reluctance, so the hunted became the hunters. At least of some of the smaller animal like hollows.
It has since been a year. Many of the shinigami have become much, much tougher in that time, they've had to. They have, at the very least, begun to adapt. Hueco Mundo is however harsh, and has far scarier terrors than mere hollows. Terrors such as the Arrancar, or, perhaps worse, the shinigami themselves. Some are becoming more and more hollow-like as the days pass. Can this group even make it home?
