Welcome to the land of Ilan

This rp has quite a bit of lore so I'm warning beforehand! Basically, the plot is that magic is becoming scarce and the Stitch is increasing by size as the days pass. Reports of the fountains cracking and sending out pulses of magic with harmful effects are reaching the ears of the rulers of each of the kingdoms and they are sending out their best warriors to try to find out the source of these problems before it causes the world as they know it to cease. There will be enemies trying to stop them at every turn but none of them will prepare the heroes for what they will face if they make it and find who's behind it all...
Elemental magic is the main type of magic used but more powerful magic users can use other types so use whatever. Magical creatures are allowed as well so be as creative as you like! I need at least 5 to start but I am perfectly fine with a large group. Only join if you know you can be committed. I'm pretty lenient with posting times as long as it keeps the rp at a steady pace so don't fret. The information you will need is down below~

LORE
Strita is one of the Great Kingdoms on the continent of Ilan. Its neighbor is the Kingdom of Valle, which is further east. The Kingdoms have a rocky relationship with each other and used to fight in the past. There were small battles a long time ago but none compared to the 30 Year War that happened many centuries ago.
Now, magic was something that always had existed in Ilan, and of course with magic came a greed for power and control. Both rulers of each Kingdom has a thirst for this power and sought out ways to get the upper hand against the other which led to the king's hiring adventurers and what not to seek out any relics that could give their kingdom the ability to control the other.

There was no news for a long time, but the kingdom of Strita heard the news that the other had found a fountain of sorts that seemed to hold magic in its rawest form. Back then no one had the ability to wield magic, only magical creatures that isolated themselves in the furthest parts of the world that had been taken note of in the rare instances they had been spotted. The discovery of the fountain altered the world after the moment it was found.

The King of Valle hadn't even figured out how to harness the magic of the fountain before the King of Strita had sent his whole army to confront the other. The fountain was tucked away in a rocky cliff, the opening nothing more than a partially underwater cave. It was amazing that it had even been found, but the area around it seemed to have an ethereal feeling to it. The water was completely clear around the cliff for a mile out. The grass on the nearby cliffside was a bright shade of green even though it had been winter when the explorers came across the area. The cave was barely accessible and so the two kingdoms confronted each other on the nearby beach. Valle had only a hundred men camping out on the coast and had sent men who hadn't arrived yet. Strita had nearly 10,000 strong lined up on the coast and stretching out past that.
Valle's men were supposed to be allowed to flee, but an arrow was shot from Strita's side, and orders seemed to be forgotten. Valle's men were slaughtered on the beach and their bodies rolled into the shallow water.
Needless to say, the slaughtering of Valle's men led to the 30 Year War. Both sides had men patrolling the sea and land around the cave where the fountain lied in order to keep the other kingdom's men from getting it. Generals on both sides tried using one or two men to swim undetected at night in hope to reach the cave, but the crystal clear water meant arrows being shot with perfect aim and delivering fatal blows quickly and effortlessly. It was a feat all on its own that both sides could hold each other off for such a long time with no side getting the upper hand.
Strita's King died at the old age of 59, and so did the king of Valle at 61. Their sons, who had grown up with all the chaos over a simple fountain, soon met peacefully and discussed since their fathers never could. The war was called off and the fountain was declared as a middle ground that was to be shared. Scholars from both kingdoms traveled to the fountain and tried to figure out how it worked. It was bottled and such and sent to the kingdom to be studied. It was a weird liquid-like solution when taken from the fountain, and some people drank it and tried experimenting with it. Blacksmiths found that when mixed with metal in the forge it created a metal with a blue sheen that was extremely sharp but surprisingly light. Magic could be ingested as well and give regular humans a boost in physical traits as well as heal the body from poison and wounds but couldn't give the ability to actually weave the magic.Still, some humans had a special connection to the flow of magic and started showing signs of being able to wield it if they ingested the magic which gave them the boost they needed to awaken their power. However, there were special cases where people had a connection to the flow of magic but it was so weak they needed regular doses of magic to control it. They were called "Nomans" and were looked down by other mages. Most magic is elemental with the four basic categories simply being control of one of the four elements. More powerful mages could manipulate other things, such as light, electricity, beasts, etc. Magical education is integrated into school systems and if I child has a high aptitude, they can be sent to schools for mages to hone their skills and have a better chance at securing a top-tier job.

IThe kingdom of Jilok, ruled by King Sanfir, is the smallest of the kingdoms and has the least amount of political influence due to its distance and remote location. It's completely surrounded by mountains except for a few paths and was built that way so it can be pretty much safe from any attacks and the other kingdoms learned that many, many years ago so it's pretty much left alone. Due to their reclusive nature and their population not really growing, their numbers are small as a result. Roisse is another small kingdom that went from a small village to a kingdom simply because Valle and Strita thought nothing of it and left them alone. The kingdom is mostly made up of thinkers and values technology and science more than anything. Magic is looked down on and sometimes even persecuted. The ruler is Queen Valio and she has ruled for 40 years ever since her husband passed away when they first got married at 15 years of age.

The large asterisks mark large fountains of magic. The one near Jilok is actually known to them but they aren't greedy like the other nations and no one knows about it except them. It's open to anyone, even regular farmers, who wish to take some of the magic. It's how they've lived in such a closed off and rather harsh surrounding. News of it hasn't spread to the other kingdoms yet.

Smaller asterisks mean smaller fountains. They aren't worth fighting over and as you said, civilizations crowd around them. Roisse used the fountain close to them to build their kingdom but did it in small intervals as to not suck the fountain dry. They forbade the magic to be sold to surrounding kingdoms and rationed it out to the people so everyone won't go overboard with its usage. This is why they are prospering now while Strita's Golden Age is fading. The smaller aterisks are the ones that will start acting weird first but won't be as harmful as the larger ones.

Ama is a well-known school for all types of mages. It was once only made up of Strita citizens but the newfound peace allowed any mage from any kingdom attend if they're extremely gifted. It's said to have been grown by the most powerful mage there has been, Afoser, who was a Stritian earth mage. It's a school that teaches from kindergarten to college and is absolutely free. It's this way because Afoser himself was an orphan and couldn't afford to even attend school since he was a street rat. It was a long process for him to learn how to read the few spellbooks he got his hands on after he displayed his powers, and he created the school for those who were in the same situation so they'd get a chance at life much easier than the way he did. The mages who work there insist the tree has a conscious of its own and sends out invites all by itself. A lot of people claim they were following spirit-like forest critters that led them the huge distance to the school and some say they got a scroll with barely intelligible handwriting. Either way, it picks those who it can nurture and will make a difference in the world. Having a recommendation from Ama guarantees top positions in any magical career.

The ruins are exactly what they mean. It was a large kingdom that fell very early by Valle's hands. The reason for the invasion is pretty unclear and not really mentioned in Valle's historical texts, and the battle was obviously very big but is never talked about. To this day, not a lot of people even know where the ruins are from or the name of the kingdom that used to stand there.

The Stitch is a giant dry area pretty much. No one knows when it was actually formed or how. Some people say two magical creatures or mages with intense magical power were fighting and used so much magical energy they started sucking it from the very ground and ended up killing both of each other. The area became dead and dry as a result. The Stitch is avoided by everyone and is the reason Stritians and Valliens avoid the southern part of the land. There are rumors of dark beasts that can withstand the volatile environment in the Stitch that is said to feel like your body is wasting away and feels like this even when you're a mile away from it. A lot of mages have tried to enter the Stitch by ingesting lots of magic since the Stitch literally feeds off of it and they were inquisitive on where that energy goes. Of course, they haven't been heard of again but it is quite an interesting topic for scholars to ponder over.
