Realistic or Modern Steampunk WW2 Roleplay

Jackson123

The meaning of life is the fine game of nil
Hi there, I’ve been wanting to do a Steampunk type retro-futuristic war and action roleplay based in WW2. Here’s the idea, basically it’s the 20th century but on steroids.

In this timeline, steam powered walkers were being utilised in WW1 as a method of laying down direct support fire from a fixed high up position into the enemies trenches, and the development of such mech will be continued into 1940s.

Except for the new technologies, the historical events remained the way they went. WW1 ended with a humiliating revolution in Germany, the Treaty of Versailles, the Great Depression, before the well-known Austrian artist came to power in Germany.

With the mech technology came a huge boost for the material science, thus defence budgets also went into development of body armour for troops in some countries.7E604931-74F8-405F-AF15-EFF01893DB85.gif

In the Soviet Union, the 5 year plan under Stalin brought rapid industrialisation of the country, large machinery are starting to being implement into their collective farming, alongside the development of their large, menacing heavy armoured mechas

In the Far East, conflicts between China and Japan is getting out of control for both countries. While Japan had technology far superior to their Chinese counterpart, the sheer vastness of mainland China is proving too much for the Japanese Military to chew on

And of course flying warships would be a thing, it’s a requirement for steampunk settings

Yayy! The Polish Resistance and the Polish Army has some of my favorite stories from WWII. If need be, I can have him be in France instead of Poland, as a great deal of Polish soldiers went to France after the Nazi occupation, and it's easy to imagine some stayed behind after Dunkirk

Some went to England and formed the 303 squadron if i remembered correctly

I remember I read the namelist and their records somewhere, I’ll have some googling to do

Yes, I have read the Levithan series and this roleplay seems so similar to it, color me interested.
But I do have a question on if everything will play out just like it did in WW2. Or would that depend on how things play out via roleplay?

Hmm, would you guys like to further alternate this timeline? It would be easier to follow the original WW2 plot but alternate history are also interesting in my opinion

Honestly like the idea of alternate history since it makes things more unpredictable. Isn't exactly as fun if you know how it all plays out.

How about like, world war 2 never ended and just drags on forever like the world of Nineteen Eighty-Four?

Hmmm...might take a lot of thought. Even by 1943, the Axos were on the backfoot due to the failure of Operation Barbarosa and America joining the war

Yeah, how can we creat a perpetual war where the nation’s military and the big armament industry corporations can continue profits from warfare without the possibility of ending the conflicts, you know, in a World War 2 setting. I think if the Germans were also successful in making the atomic bomb would help create this scenario.
