Futuristic Starpath: Burning Sails [IC] [CLOSED]

Petar raised his hand for them to halt. He could see captain stars and stripes itching to go ahead, but there was opportunity here.

"They don't know we're here. Tech boys, take care of the drones. We will target the rest. Aim for their boss and scare them shitless. Keep an eye on the door in case of more showing up." After giving his instructions, he prepared to make his move as soon as those drones got a treatment.

Slowly sliding away from behind Petar, Shuren takes position. The barrel of his gun starts to glow and crackle as he charges a powerful shot, hoping to strike all of them at once.

Yolandi hefts up her LMG at the hip and gets ready to start rinsing the humanoid team down, she figures enough people are going to blast the officer that she'd offer suppressing fire to keep the other guards under pressure. She waits for Petar's go, mentally bracing herself for the pain she's going to be feeling in her shoulder when the LMG starts chattering away after his signal. She doesn't bother to shoulder it as that would just be asking for agony and her helmet makes it a bit hard to get a sight picture anyways so hipfiring should be good enough, she knows the gun has tracers mixed in with the standard rounds, so she can always walk the muzzle if she's off.

Daniel didn't pay much attention to Karina's feeding. Wasn't the first time he'd seen it and it would most likely not be the last. He raised his MEDT and did a quick scan of the team- no severe injuries seeing as the newly-arrived Yolandi just fixed her shoulder. He shook his head before moving on.

When Petar gave the order to halt Daniel complied, kneeling down next to a piece of cover before opening fire at the officer.

As Daniel's stims entered Jackson's system, he went into overdrive. It was like smoking the tobacco of a thousands cigars at once, a pop of Katoika powder, and ten punches to the face. Jackson was in heaven. "OOOOHHHH FUCK YEA!". From there, everything was a blur to Jackson. Combat broke out, and time slowed down...then speed up, and he even blacked out a couple times as his boomstick went off again and again, and shrapnel and body parts of his enemies rained from the sky. His eyes saw nothing but energetic bloodlust and colors and noises he didn't know were possible. At some point he thought he was seeing smells and tasting sounds, but it was just charred remains of the dead.

As quickly as it came, at least to Jackson, the stim began to wear off. He took a look around to see dead droids, and mangled solider bodies littering the area. "Nice," he said lighting up another cig as he watched Karina feed on one of the dead. "Save some for the rest of us," he said and then he noticed Yolandi stroll in. She wasn't with us in the boarding party...was she?

He gave her a quick whistle, "Trying to beat my high score on blow-a-guard-up? You know I'm an expert at it," he said as he mimicked blowing smoke out of his launcher's muzzle. However she just ignored him, which he didn't mind as he finished his cig. He then followed the others, sticking close to Daniel as they came up on yet another checkpoint. He doesn't remember how many they just went through but more targets meant more boom. He crouched down and quickly reloaded his shells, and then tapped Daniel on the back.

"Fun juice running low, Jackson requires more fun juice to keep blowing up bad guys please."

Vixaya had stared off into space for a long time before finally blinking and releasing the controls to the frontal turrets and allowing her arms to limply fall to her sides. No one had dismissed her from the task, and so she felt a surge of anxiety. Her head snapped about, eyes wild with survival instinct as she took stock of the bridge, and, finding nothing amiss, froze, relaxed, and hung low. "<Safe,>" she remarked without inflection. Now feeling out of place, she quickly exited the bridge without further words and headed for her cabin. She was restless and hungry, but didn't dare seek out food on this strange ship without Renate at her side.

Shun was rather speechless with how the team executed the remaining enemies, one drugged up psychopath and a crazed cannibal feasting aftter the fact. He merely shook his head, recognizing that such dysfunction was part of how this team... functioned. Nothing for it at the moment, so he simply forged ahead behind the rest of the group. The Ayr cyborg assumed that he was one of those 'tech guys' Petar mentioned, so he began to clench his fingers and begin charging another EM burst between his palms. In a matter of moments he stretched his arm out and unleashed it in the center of the drone cluster.

Shun prepared an EMP blast to try and take out the drones team, which was being examined by the officer over the two teams, and lobbed it right into the middle of the drone group. It, however, failed its purpose. The drones seemed to have shielding to prevent such an attack from disabling them. Different from the drones they had faced before. The drones reacted, lighting up and signaling to their allies that the enemy was close. They didn't last very long, however, as a bolt of lighting from Shuren's rifle destroyed four of them in one go. The sight of Shun's failure and Shuren only taking down four of them seemed to agitate Karina a bit, as she took aim and fired upon one of the remaining drones. Her rapid fire shots connected, ripping the drone to pieces. Loudmouth followed suit, one of his arms folding into his body before emerging with what appeared to be a kinetic machine pistol. He took aim, and fired off several bursts which shredded the final drone's torso. "Drones are scrapped!" he shouted, as the rest of the group opened fire on the officer. The officer didn't have much time to react to the drones being eliminated in quick fashion before being attacked himself.

Petar's slugs punched through the Specialist's torso plating, before Derrick and Daniel's shots took one of his legs out from under him. Then Jackson's grenade made things worse, hitting the Specialist with shrapnel and sending him sailing backwards into the wall. Vance's shot sadly missed the officer, darting by as the Specialist went through the air. "Who's ready to make some chunky salsa?!" shouted Loudmouth whom followed it with a loud robotic chuckle. "I am." responded Karina bluntly, slapping a fresh magazine into her rifle and taking aim at the grunts. The grunts scrambled into cover, setting up behind the makeshift baracades and shields they had set up. As they moved, Yolandi's LMG fire cut down one of the grunts, and hit one of the others in the side. The recoil from her LMG damaged her shoulder further, pain surging through her arm as she emptied the drum on the weapon before slipping back into cover. The specialist eventually crawled back to his feet, deploying a energy shield where he was, so that he could fire on the enemy from cover.

Drav glanced over, after hearing Vixaya say something across from her. It sounded as though she said the word 'Safe.' Drav raised an eyebrow, watching the young kanad as she looked about the bridge. Wide eyed, almost animal like. Then she seemed to relax before getting up and quickly leaving the bridge. What had happened to her to make her behave like that? Drav watched her leave, before eventually sighing and looking back over to Roku.

Yolandi pulls back into cover and pulls the now empty belt box off the LMG, swapping it with a fresh box and putting the empty one in the pouch the full one was previously occupying. It takes her a bit longer than usual to reload as her shoulder is sending waves of pain up her spine, laboring over ensuring she does everything right despite the situation. She reaches into a pen pocket and pulls out a small epipen type injector and looks at it. She hasn't used one in a long time, this one sat at the bottom of her dufflebag for who knows how long, it's probably expired but that's the risk she's going to take. She dials the tension setting all the way up on the spring and jabs herself in the shoulder with it, in the gap between her armor and her space suit, the thing makes a loud snap as the spring pretty much rockets the needle through the fabric of the suit and inject her with a healthy dosage of painkillers and a secondary dose of minor stimulants. The stabbing, shooting pain in her shoulder tempers down into a dull throb, leaving her a bit more able to blot it out of her mind. She pops up and readies her LMG again, seeking to splatter the survivors of her initial magdump. Any survivors would find themselves being fired upon in short loose bursts, rather than one long drawn out spray.

Zou finishes his self-checks and comes out of standby, still anchored on the hull of the Mordred as it seems to loiter around the platform waiting for Hammer to finish its attack. He looks at his empty left hand/gauntlet and looks over to where on the platform he last saw Yolandi laying in a heap. He notices she's gone and hopes she isn't in too bad a shape to fight inside the platform. He looks back to his free hand, thinking to himself then walking around to the cargo hold ramp, hitting the release to open the cargobay up. He steps inside and sets his autocannon down, using the modular mount to detach it from his arm quickly. He walks over to one of the smaller equipment lockers and peers inside, he sees a rather large length of chain inside, presumably for tying down cargo crates. He reaches a hand in, damaging the edges of the locker's opening due to the bulk of said hand. He pulls the chain out and sorts it around between his hands, the chain looks like it could do some serious damage if it struck something, an idea slowly bubbling up in his circuits. He notices the ends of the chains have hooks on them to latch onto anchor points on the floor of the cargo bay. He takes one end and loops it around his arm and uses the hook to secure the loop then proceeds to loosely wrap the rest of the chain around his forearm, he leaves some excess loose then picks up an empty ammo can that had been discarded into the corner of the bay. He picks it up and picks up the loose scraps of hull patching Yolandi had to cut down so they could be put on him for his field repairs, depositing them into the bin. He seals the bin up and then makes a sort of butcher's knot of chain around the ammo can, using the hook at that end to secure the loop. He measures out a little extra excess so that where he grips the chain, the box dangles free from his grip by about a foot and a half. He walks over and locks his right arm back into his autocannon's modular mount and heads back out the cargo bay. He closes the door and ramp behind him and marches back out onto the hull to anchor himself in position again. His left hand idly swings the scrap filled ammo box around in a circle motion as if preparing his idea in advance.

Daniel looks at Jackson and nods. He reaches for his MEDT and load it with another Predator cartridge. The contents are then injected directly into Jackson's bloodstream as the numerous needles are pressed into his skin.

Once Jackson is stimmed up Daniel resumes fighting, targeting the officer once more.

Petar was satisfied with the performance so far. Only a few more shots were needed for the team to clear out the room, but there was still the noise they heard earlier that had his attention. They would have to prepare to welcome someone pretty soon.

The grunts hiding behind their desperate barricade wouldn't save them. He moved in carefully in order not to get clipped by friendly fire and pulled the trigger.

Whiffing his first shot, Vance prepped his ray-gun and aimed it again, this time at one of the grunts, and fired. With all the drones down, this seemed to be a cakewalk for the team as they had a numbers advantage now.

With a renewed vigor, Jackson's body welcomes the strong stim. "OOOOOHHHHH YEAAAAAAA!!!!!!!" Jackson yells as he stands up out of cover, and begins firing off his grenade launcher at anything that moves, his eyes darting wildly and every pour of his body sweatin' bullets. "EAT MY FUCKIN SHRAPNEL MOTHERFUCKERSSSS!!!!"

------
After quickly taking down the drone team, the group swapped their focus to the Specialist, whom somehow was still standing, and the rest of the grunts. Yolandi unleashed another burst from her LMG, the gauss rounds punching through the barricade and hitting two of the grunts with ease. One was killed instantly, the shot carving a hole through his head, while the other was hit in the side. However, she missed a third grunt, whom moved just in time as she swung her LMG around. Recoil, of course, made the damage to her arm worse. She ignored the now dulled pain, as the outdated painkillers pumping through her system numbed it ever so slightly. Petar fired with both barrels, putting a pair of slugs through the barricade as he moved in. The slugs punched through the wounded grunt's torso, killing him. Then, Vance fired off a plasma shot, hitting and wounding the grunt that Yolandi had missed as he attempted to find better cover by moving along the barricade. Shun, Shuren, and Derrick would make their own attempts at killing the grunt, but Karina would be the one to score the killshot. A laser shot melted through the barricade, frying the man's spine just beneath the neck and killing him.

Jackson, now drugged up again, delivered a killing blow to the remaining grunt. He lobbed a grenade from his launcher over the barracade, hitting the grunt square in the chest. The grenade didn't go off, but the impact from the shell colliding with his chest did all the damage it needed to. He was dead before he even hit the floor. Finally, Daniel would be the one to put the Specialist down, as he leaned out of cover to try and take a shot at Hammer team. The moment his head popped out, Daniel put a shot through his eye. He simply fell over, a hole punched through out the back of his head.

The group didn't have time for a breather, as one of the doors behind them in the room opened. Two more teams of soldiers poured into the room with them, quickly taking up positions behind computer banks and other pieces of cover such as boxes and haphazardly slapped together barricades. Then, they opened fire. Several missed, as Hammer team itself was in their own cover, but a few managed to score some lucky shots. Daniel was hit once, a laser burst hitting him in the shoulder, as was Shun. Karina was hit in the left side of her chest, scorching her armor. Vance was hit when a laser shot melted through his scrap metal shield and burned his arm. Petar and Yolandi were also hit, both taking laser fire to the chest.

The group needed to keep moving, as to not get caught in a crossfire by any more teams that showed up. The blast doors behind the fresh corpses nearby seemed to be their ticket further into the complex, most likely to the core of the station, but it seemed that there were only two options as to how to get through the doors. There were a pair of sturdy terminals on either side of the doors, which would unlock them. The problem was that they likely needed to hack into the terminals to get them to work for them. That would be up to Shuren and Shun, the technical members of the team. The other method would be for Jackson to set up explosives to destroy the large terminals and force the huge metal doors open. The idea was dangerous as with too much boom, they could potentially kill themselves. Jackson would have to play it smart, if they went with option B. Both options would take some time, however, so they would need to set up shop and either cover Shuren and Shun, or Jackson.

"They just keep comin' and comin' don't they?" Vance said with a chuckle as he lobbed his now melted shield at a nearby grunt, hoping the impact would do some damage to them.

Shun gave no signs of pain or injury upon being struck, the blast more of an inconvenience as the surprise attack left him little time to adjust his psionic shielding. Still the Ayr had so many measures and cybernetics in him that pain and most senses of feeling were dulled completely. He floated backwards as Hammer team dove further into cover to avoid the attack from the reinforcements, head swiveling to their entrance to the complex proper.

"If you all provide cover I can assist in getting the doors open. My augments and suit may easily break through any encryption." he stated. He flew toward the terminal as various polygons and interfaces floated before him, streams of data pouring from the terminal and into his peripherals. The cold and risk-assessing Ayr did not even consider blowing up the entryway or computer systems. As he hacked he clenched a fist, diverting more energy to his shielding as he worked.

Daniel shook his head as more enemies poured in. He paid little attention to the conversation as he was not paid to hack nor to blow stuff up. Instead he moved over to Yolandi who seemed to have fared the worst out of the team. "This is going to sting," he says right as he jams five needles into one of her arms. It wouldn't take long for the healing to start kicking in.

"You heard the man!" Petar yelled as he got behind cover. "Give him covering fire so he can hack in peace." He peaked real quick and made quick count on how many more were in the room. Fourteen. Great. Tho maybe he could help in reducing that number. He had his own grenades. So he tossed one in the direction of the drones.

Yolandi pants slightly, her eyes unevenly dilated, that expired autoinjector she used having some other side effects besides just acting as a painkiller. Before she can collect herself Daniel is upon her and jabs her with healing stims. She feels a little bit of relief, but all she can really hear is the blood pounding in her head. She gets ready for the next wave of enemies as the two tech oriented members of Hammer decide to take the hacking route instead of the bombing route, she feels it's a smart choice given that blowing up the platform they're standing on might not be the wisest of plans.

Shuren and Shun quickly manned the terminals, taking different methods in hacking into the system. Shun poured over data streams and interfaces, while Shuren went a more physical route in taking the terminal apart carefully and hotwiring it to gain the access he needed. The rest of Hammer team took up positions to defend the pair, and opened fire on their incoming attackers. Petar started things off with a bang, lobbing a grenade into the crowd of drones. It detonated, destroying three of the drones with ease. After a quick healing boost from Daniel, Yolandi opened up on the grunts with a burst of automatic fire from her Gauss LMG. Instead of hitting her targets, however, the remaining drones dove in front of their humanoid allies and took the hits. The drones hit the floor, their torsos shredded by the gunfire.

Vance's shield flew through the air, but missed its intended target and bouncing off the wall behind the grunt. Said grunt promptly counter-attacked, hitting Vance with laser fire to the chest as he slipped behind cover once again. Another grunt took a shot at Petar for his grenade toss, but missed entirely and hit a light fixture on the wall. Jackson, deciding to focus on one of the Specialists, fired off another grenade from his launcher at the man as he popped up to fire on the group. The grenade hit him in the stomach, not killing him but certainly knocking the wind out of him. Some of the others on Hammer team followed suit, firing on the man as he attempted to recover from the impact. Derrick and Karina fired several shots at the man, the kinetic and laser fire ripping the man to shreds before he collapsed in a heap. Loudmouth fired on the other Specialist, who attempted to cover his comrade, and hit him several times in the chest plating on his armor with his machine pistol. The specialist ducked back into cover, and a moment later called for additional support from other teams in the area.

One of the grunts managed to get a shot off at Karina, hitting her on the forearm plating of her armor. She groaned, flicking her arm as she slipped back into cover. Another got a good hit on Daniel, whom peeked out of cover. A hit to side of his stomach with a laser shot put him back into cover rather quickly. Two other grunts decided to focus on the two members out of cover, hacking the blast door terminals. Shun shrugged off the incoming laser fire, but Shuren took a painful laser shot to the spine.

Jackson could only see red. Red blood. Red gore. The red flesh of his enemies as his launcher went thump after thump, and boom and kaboaw, the adrenaline rush flowing through him better than cocaine. His brain worked on overdrive and automatic, his muscles and body following its every command and he was enjoying the show. "DEATH TO ALL OF MY ENEMIES!" He felt himself let the grenade launcher drop to his side, and the he pulled out the hammer he stole from engineering earlier that day. Hammer. Team. Heh. He could hear his inner self chuckle.

"HAMMER TEAM HAMMER TIME!" He yelled in a blood-curdling scream and charged the closest enemy.

The cyborg Ayr felt a stinging sensation fire through his neurons as the laser blast bore through his shielding. As much as he wanted to retaliate he had his mission. Quickly as he could manage he continued to use his software to decrypt the terminal, various streams of junk data visibly swirling about his body as he sorted and picked out relevant packets of data.

The pain, amplified from Shuren's lack of armored protection, was immense. The simmering feeling on the skin of his back as it burns forces him to give out an agonized grunt. Worse, he can feel his legs begin to buckle. Whether it was due to the stress of being in the middle of his first ever gunfight or his spinal cord suffering major damage, he doesn't know, but he calls out to Daniel for aid.

Yolandi sets her sights on Specialist #3, noting that he's calling for backup, sadly she can't draw down on him fast enough to prevent the call for help from going out. She fires a healthy burst to try and make sure it's the last thing he'll get to say into that radio. She feels better but worse at the same time, the volatile cocktail of expired drugs, Daniel's high test healing stimulants, and alcohol is wearing her down. She feels like she's entering into a fever dream where colors just start to bleed together as the drugs and alcohol mix in ugly ways. She loses herself in the haze of intoxication, colors and shapes swirling violently before coalescing into a dissociation spell she can't snap out of. In this haze, she watches scything beams of coherent light cutting through the fog of her brain, the source of it coming in the form of looming shadows within said fog. She panics a bit, her finger jamming down on the trigger as she sweeps LMG at the shapes, the length of the burst feels like it stretches into forever, when it ends, it takes her brain a few seconds to realize she's emptied it. She shifts the LMG to her offhand and draws the Auto-Magnum on her hip. The only way she's figuring who's friend and foe is by the direction of incoming and outgoing fire around her. She levels the pistol at the nearest shape she determines is "bad" and fires a few shots off, the handcannon thundering loudly in her hand.

For those in the actual reality, Yolandi seems to just kinda go off script and start spraying arounds into the remaining group of enemies before unholstering her magnum and dumping a handful of shots into the nearest enemy regardless of if they're dead or not. Her movements look like someone else is driving in her head now, her eyes glossy and pupils dilated out to near their physical limits. Her mouth hangs ajar as she just emits the occasional guttural noise as her brain confirms what she's doing. A gunslinging zombie would probably be the best descriptor of her current state.

Vance gritted his teeth as a shot landed on his chest and burned him, Drav's armor improvements took most of the brunt but it still burned managed to hurt. He quickly recomposed himself before seeing Jackson go absolutely berserk and charge foolhardily into the enemy group. "Damn, gotta make sure he doesn't kill himself." Vance muttered as he holstered his ray-gun and charged right in, sprinting ahead at a breakneck pace towards the enemy.
