Futuristic Starpath: Burning Sails [IC] [CLOSED]

Yolandi exhales sharply and moves in with the others after the initial team goes in. She sweeps her integrated laser through the smoke, but she lacks the thermals to home in on targets. Once she's cleared the smoke, any that still stand, she quickly fires short bursts upon. She immediately learns why the rifle had 'Thumper' scratched into the stock, the thing spits high caliber slugs at a hearty rate towards targets. She's not surprised by the recoil as someone might be though, having handled guns similar to it.

Right before Lauren made her final kick, Jericho switched on his cloaking device. He was almost entirely invisible to the naked organic eye. After the grenades were tossed through the door and most of the boarding party rushed in, Jericho simply walked foward through the hole, keeping an eye on the people he liked. He didn't like going in guns blazing. In fact, the only gun he had was resting on his cot right now. So he simply made his way through the smoke towards the closest available target in an attempt to either subdue them, or stab them. Depending on the response they might have.

Shelby remained near the back as the action began to kick off. She looked tense, with her shoulders scrunched up, her SMG held firmly in her hands - thankfully, still with trigger discipline. Everything seemed so brutal and scary... the call for grenades, the smoke, the flashbangs. It really was like a movie to her. To imagine that this happened all over the galaxy at all times of day, during minor conflicts and wars alike, was somewhat maddening. She knew fighting happened on Castilia often, too, between the various security forces and the organized and unorganized gangs across the planet, but seeing it up close like this was crazy.

Her plan was to stick close to the others, especially Jericho, but when the man went invisible she whimpered slightly to herself. So much for that plan. How was she supposed to follow an invisible man? And what if he was in her line of fire? She didn't want to shoot him by mistake.

As the first group rushed in, and the others began to filter through, Shelby took a deep breath and readied her SMG and followed.

---

Lucy was near the middle of the boarding group as things began, but shortly after the door was down and Vance and his people were rushing through, she followed quickly - by dropping to all fours and crawling startlingly fast on the ground. To make matters even stranger, she slammed her claws against the wall of the corridor and pulled herself up along the wall. Her spiked boots seemed to have a more apparent function for the talons - they were like ice climber, or mountain climbing, boots. The spikes pierced the walls to give her leverage, but the bulk of her feet were also magnetized.

She had practically no problem crawling along the floor, then the wall, and now the ceiling. Her speed was surprising, though without any biological restrictions from muscle or strength, it was apparently no difficult task for her. There was no hesitation. She zipped along the ceiling like a spider in search of prey.

"Copy, two fighters splashed. Moving to overwatch position, over."

Whilst everyone was having their fun with the interior of the ship, Olivia could safely nestle herself in her cockpit. Quick-- yet important, deed done for the mission. Kicking her feet up, and resting herself back, the woman flicked a switch on her comms console. "Bullshit, I wouldn't've needed help anyway. So much for Feds out here being a 'different breed'." There was a snort over the comms, and a short pause. "Y'know, if we're working together... you think we should have a cool squad name or something?"

Jackson watched Jericho go invisible, Lucy walk in, and Shelby shake her way inside as well. "LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!" Jackson ran in, pushing himself past Shelby and the smoke, before aiming down his cannon sights, and down the halllway, unloading a barrage of 25mm slugs making sure to not hit any of his allies. "GET SOME YOU FUCKING PUSSIES!"

Shun wasted no time and pushed through with Vance, floating at a quick pace just behind him before he found his targets. It was a graceful glide, the air around him gently flowing as he manipulated the currents and his mechanical body to keep up the levitation. Moving at a brisk speed such as this was not entirely taxing, but his mind was alight with all kinds of impulses as his augmented brain went about with weaving the miracles on display.

Without hesitation he started to weave his hands about, mechanical fingers twitching as they manifest some wispy, flickering energy that he then unleashes at two of the defenders. Bolts of force rippled through the air, sheathed in a field of energy that both had kinetic potential and scorched on impact.

Derrick walked out of the smoke with a cigarette in his mouth and his guns still in their holster. he looked around and seeing bullets and energy pellets fly from all the directions. he merely chuckled silently and took a last hit on his cigarette before flicking it and pulling both of his automatic pistols from their holsters, he softy made both the pistols' barrels collide with each other, creating a *clink* sound.

"Let's start some shit."

Petar stepped out of cover when the others charged in. There were a lot of yells and hollering, but unlike the rest of the time, he was quiet when the shooting started. 'Party. Have fun. Enjoy yourself to all of live's pleasures. But when it came down to business. Get serious.' was the token advice his father gave him. The only one he bothered listening to anyway.

Vulkov aimed the shotgun towards the nearest target he could find and shot to wound. Hands, legs, whatever. Keep them alive for when they had questions.

Once the flashbangs went off Vance was already inside with Daniel following quickly behind. His rifle was raised and his finger rested on the trigger. There was no time for mercy- this mission was a pure hit and run raid. In many ways it reminded him of the missions back home on Legkiy. A notice from the Red Corsairs a couple of hours beforehand. No clear rules of engagement. Zone filled with hostiles or "militant civilians".

Daniel didn't argue. He just did his job. Taking a knee close to the left wall he fired off two short bursts before getting back up to advance, this time side-by-side with Petar.

---

Nathalie watched the door collapse and the crew charge ahead. She glanced at Jericho who cloaked himself. Reaching down to her wrist she tapped a single button to engage a cloaking device of her own. She raised her pistol and went in, making sure to follow Vance.

As the smoke filled the newly created entrance to the freighter, the crew members of the Hermes quickly prepared themselves with whatever weapons they could scrounge up. Pistols and SMGs were the theme here for self defense, along with the occasional wrench or pipe for melee. The sudden sight of a man in a vintage space suit, however, threw them off guard. He barreled through the smoke, bee-lining straight for the nearest man to the door. The crew member didn't even have time to react, before Vance's fist collided with his face. His nose was shattered on impact, and the hit was actually hard enough to give the man whiplash as his head jerked backwards. Others began to pour through the smoke behind him, though these were actually carrying weapons. Shun attempted to hit the same man as Vance as well as one down the hallway from them, but a bump from Petar threw his aim off and sent his psionic balls of pain colliding with the paneling on the walls. Petar leveled his shotgun on the man Vance punched, firing both barrels and effectively kneecapping the man. His leg came apart, blood splattering across the wall behind him as well as on the floor as he fell.

Typhon emerged from the smoke on the opposite side, his SMG snapping up and leveling on another crew member's head. Before the Upyri could speak a word, a burst of SMG fire ripped through his head and effectively neutralized him. Two down, three to go. Yolandi emerged next, taking aim and firing off a burst of shots from her 'Thumper' at the next of the Upyri crew, deeper into the room. Shots peppered the man, one ripping through the armor he was wearing and hitting him in the shoulder. He stumbled a bit, recoiling from the impact of the shots, forcing Jericho (whom had stealthily snuck up near him) to miss grabbing him. His camo flickered from the sudden movement, giving his position away to the man as he righted himself. He wouldn't get a chance to act against Jericho, however, as Shelby unleashed a sudden burst of SMG fire at the man. The shots peppered his chest, climbing till they hit the man in the face and put him down for good.

Derrick, having decided to draw his pistols to fire upon one of the men in the back of the room, fired off a volley of shots towards the Upyri. None hit, however, as Derrick misjudged the recoil from his automatic sidearms. Jackson also attempted to shoot the man with his 25mm shots, but they simply zipped by him as Jackson was firing from the hip. Daniel, however, was a better shot than both of them. Two bursts from his rifle slammed into the man's chest plates, before one final laser shot from behind Daniel erased the man's head from existence. Karina had finished him off. Four down, one to go.

The final man went to open fire on the invading crew, in an attempt to halt their onslaught, but something was zipping towards him on the wall. "[What the FUCK!?]" he spat, swinging about and managing to fire off one burst towards the thing that was darting towards him. None of the shots hit, and soon Lucy pounced upon him. Her claws pierced his chest armor, sinking into his body and puncturing his hearts and lungs. All five airlock enemies down.

------

Lauren stepped in behind the crew, her stocked pistol raised and looking about. "Real fuckin' nice work, guys. Alright. Sweep the ship, eliminate the rest of 'em. Move." she ordered, before glancing back to Grommy. "You're with me. You too, Renate." she said, singling out the rock man and cybernetic Upyri behind her.

------

"Sure, I guess. It'd be better than just 'Demon & Phobos'." said Aesha, her voice pouring through Olivia's comms. Aesha relaxed in her fighter for a moment, glancing towards the long-range scans while pondering just what to call their little squadron of two. "...Viper Squadron?...Eh, nah. Kinda dumb. Hmm...how about Maverick Squadron?"

With the squad of Upyri easily dispatched, it was time to move on to scour the rest of the ship. Securing the cargo bay was a top priority, and as such was a priority for Vance and his team to get to quickly. "Team, on me." Vance said to those following him as he barreled down one of the hallways leading to the cargo bay. He wiped a bit of blood from his hand, having delivered a powerful blow with it. Vance was satisfied with his work as he advanced forward.

Grommy witnessed the trail of violence almost as it was in slow motion. Vance made the first move and then everyone pounced on the crew like it was nothing. Once the round was done Grommy stared in awe, seeing casualties on the enemy side. Five killed not too long after. Grommy could have only said, "Woah."

Lauren: "You're with me. You too, Renate."

Grommy rubbed his eyes, nodding in response. "Uh, sure thing Ma'am." Grommy followed Lauren to someplace else.

The very first seconds of his first assignment and already Typhon’s performing cranial surgery. He kicked the body of his target as it laid there and bled.

“Captain, I’ll be checking the medbay if you don’t mind.” he says, separating himself from Vance’s group and heading there.

He also tunes his helmet radio to a private channel, sending a message for Karina’s ears only. “Don't forget our little pact.” he whispers.

Unamused, Jericho cleaned off the Upyri blood that splashed on him. His cloaking and stealthy strategy was compromised by that elderly android, but he didn't say anything to her. He instead looked to Shelby and smiled. "Thank you, hun. He could have probably destroyed my head." He certainly wasn't sure if Shelby was happy with what just happened, but if it wasn't for her, he could have actually been injured. He looked to Lucy and Jackson afterwards. "Lets get to the crew quarters. If anyone else wants to tag along, they're more than welcome to!~" He then walked ahead, uncloaked this time. It'd be useless to cloak while covered in someone else's blood.

In comparison to her wingman, Olivia was far more blasé with checking her sensors, keeping it more in the corner of her eye, rather than actively going to look at it. Nope, instead she was more concerned about naming their little two-man crew. Priorities. "Maverick? Hnm. That ain't a bad one. Though... Vagrant Squa-- nah. Umnnhh... Oh-- how about Desperado Squadron?"

Jackson watched the entire crew get obliterated, much to his pleasure. "Hell yes team!!! Y'all see that fuckers? Head explode?" He reloaded his launcher and then dug through some of the pockets of the dead crew, pocketing any wallets or credit chits he found. He then heard Jericho planning to raid the crew quarters, where there will definitely be more goodies.

"Lead the way sir prince Jericho, right behind ya," Jackson added. He look at Shelby who's SMG was still smoking. "Good shooting kid, better than I expected. You peopered that dude dead man." He gave her a big pat on the back and headed out behind Jericho.

"Yeah, hold on robot boy." Petar said after he chased after Jericho. If Jackson was going to help him, then he would need an extra person to pick up after that one. "Dan, you coming? A medic would be nice." He shouted as he left to catch up with the robot.
---
And just like that it started. Vincent stood near Shelby observing the girl for a second as she still had the SMG pointed at the corpse. First kill probably. Possible case for later.

"You can put the gun down now, He's not getting back up."

Shun merely glanced to Petar as he lowered his arms and the dust cleared, rather angry to have had his aim thrown off by the man rushing in. There was silence as he exchanged his reserved anger for the mercenary before he floated behind Vance with a nod. They were off to the cargo bay, and he didn't have time to chastise every single member of the crew for their lack of cohesion in this raid. The cyborg Ayr wasn't expecting a great deal, though, Lauren had shown that she preferred to keep the crew disorganized and see what sticks. Hopefully their performance would be better as they broke off into separate groups.

Nathalie had refrained from engaging any of the airlock enemies and, as it turned out, she didn't need to as the rest of the crew made quick work of the opposition. Once Vance pushed on she stayed close while still concealed by her invisibility cloak.

---

Daniel did a final sweep before checking on the others. No injuries. A clean sweep so far. Once Petar hollered at him he nodded and jogged to catch up with Jericho, Jackson and Petar. He then raised his rifle and scanned for contacts.

Everything was happening so fast. Shelby had no choice but to follow in after the others, wincing slightly at the gunfire erupting around and near her. The sound wasn't an issue - it was hardly any louder than the music or fireworks at a concert going off near her, but the fact that these were guns that killed made the matter entirely different. Every pull of the trigger meant death or maiming, not pretty colors to thrill a drugged up crowd.

She wanted to keep close to Jericho, but his invisibility made that difficult, so she simply kept his position in mind. He could only go in one direction, so he was likely just ahead of her. Her eyes were forward and all over the place, looking out for danger, but her attention was momentarily stolen when the maniacal robot lady crawled across the wall and ceiling towards the people they were attacking. Like some monster. I'm going to have nightmares.

When she looked back forwards as the gunfire continued, she noticed Yolandi right near her firing a big gun at a person up ahead. Shelby scrunched up against the wall to keep out of the way and she raised her gun somewhat shakily at the enemy. Maybe I can get them to surrender? But once the person was shot, they stumbled a bit and blood splattered on... mid-air? It took only a second for her to realize Jericho was right by them... and the Upyri was raising a weapon against her new friend.

She didn't even know she was pulling the trigger of the SMG until it was pulling up in her arms. The Upyri she had aimed at was dead. Very dead. The bullets had riddled their chest and then their head. Jericho turned and said something to her but she could barely hear it, as her mind didn't want to recognize anything anymore.

I killed them.

This was not what she wanted. She didn't want Jericho to get hurt either, but she didn't plan to actually shoot anyone. That was the job of all the others. But now.... Her eyes couldn't come off the body as Jericho moved on, and she didn't notice Jackson patting her back, or the preacher man saying something to her. It was a very strange sensation... she felt dizzy but calm, and like she was in some heightened sense of awareness where she felt like she could feel everything happening.

She blinked up at Vincent blankly, and then back at the body, and then she simply followed after Jericho and the others as they disappeared without a word. Everything didn't quite seem real anymore.

---

Lucy had sighted her prey the moment she had visuals on the enemies down the hallway. Her clawed hands and spiked, magnetized boots did well on the vertical surfaces as she expertly crawled over the battle just underneath her. It seemed they were all occupied with each other and the people directly shooting at them. So much of it was happening quickly, so by the time any of the Upyri really noticed her, they were already dead or dying. Except for the one in the back. Her target.

Killing was a perverse pleasure that she knew was bad if unjustified, and good if justified. Given the circumstances of the raid... it was very much justified and she had no reason to worry about any justification. The goal was to kill and take. And she very much would kill.

The man panicked and shot up at her, but the bullets hit all around and missed. The AI made some kind of keening, static-like noise that could have been a screech or simply a glitch as she plummeted towards the Upyri with her claws aimed at him. She was well vested in humanoid anatomy, particularly Human and Upyri. The heart and lungs were well within reach, though there was just some pesky armor, bone, and flesh in the way. Thankfully, her claws found no issue with such trifling material as they sank deeply into the man's body. Like a burrowing mole, she ripped her hands to the side once the claws sank in to rip a hole in his chest. She casually observed the remains of his upper organs. This one had a near model diaphragm, though it was in shreds now.

Too damaged to use for anything. She removed her bloody hands and noticed the others carrying on down another direction. Jericho seemed to be leading the way. She twisted unnaturally in some half-somersault, half-barrel roll as she changed directions to follow them, galloping on all fours before righting herself to both feet.

Hallway - AMBUSH (ENEMY)
Crew #6 = 6. Does 1 DMG to Vance. Vance HP = 12
Crew #7 = 10. CH Roll = 7. Does 3 DMG to Typhon. Typhon HP = 10
Crew #8 = 7. Does 1 DMG to Jericho. Jericho HP = 12

Crew # 9 = 10 CH Roll = 6. Does 3 DMG to Vance. Vance HP = 9

As Vance darted around the corner, with the others following close behind, he charged right into a waiting ambush. There were four more Upyri crew members waiting in the hallway, using a mixture of kinetic and plasma pistols. They opened fire as soon as they could get clear shots on those coming around the corner, these four being actually prepared unlike those that were killed at the airlock area. Two of them immediately targeted Vance, firing off several shots at the space man. The kinetic rounds collided with Vance's vintage spacesuit, which absorbed the impacts as best as they could. Future technology would obviously trump vintage space suits however, so one of the shots eventually ripped through and hit Vance's body. The bullet pierced skin, but hit a rib and lodged itself there.

The second shooter, using a plasma pistol, did far more damage to his suit. The bolt of plasma darted down the hallway, colliding with Vance's chest and burning a fist sized hole through his suit. The green bolt dissipated rapidly, though, leaving a bright red burn on Vance's chest just over his sternum. He'd need burn ointment later. Typhon was targeted by one of the other men in the hallway, firing off a shot from his own kinetic pistol. The bullet collided with Typhon's shoulder, ripping through his clothes and armor in a spot. It collided with his shoulder, but ripped through and hit the wall in the back behind him. The remaining shooter fired upon Jericho with his own plasma pistol, the green bolt of super hot goop hitting Jericho in the thigh. The green mush melted through his armored plating, and singed the synthetic flesh beneath, but also quickly dissipated before doing much more damage.

--------

Karina peeked around the corner, giving Typhon a quick whisper of "I know." through her comms before taking aim and firing off a shot at the Upyri man with a plasma pistol in the back. Lauren moved out from where she was behind the group, firing off a shot from her own plasma weapon at one of the closer enemies as she moved.

--------

Aesha chuckled. "Desperado? Only if I get to call you Bandito instead of Phobos. Plus the name will have me singing that one Eagles song if I hear it enough." she replied, with a bit of a grin. She knew Olivia couldn't see it, but it still made her smile. "I like it, though. Still, we could probably do better. Might have to come up with some more names over beers later."

Vance recoiled in pain as the shots connected to him, especially the one that lodged in his rib. Damnit, I was hoping to bring this suit back in one piece back home. he thought as he gritted his teeth before returning a grin and a stern look towards those that shot him. "Gonna take a lot more than that to put me out of action!" Vance said heartily as he once more lunged at superhuman speeds for another strike, causing the floor of the ship to dent from the force of his feet. Karina was dealing with one in the back while Lauren fired at one that was close, so he would go for one in between. He positioned himself from below to aim his blow for a devastating uppercut to put the goon out of commission hopefully.

Jackson went along, following the group into the hallway before jumping back for cover as a hail of bullets and plasma went flying by. He could hear Typhon and Vance grunt in pain as they got hit. Not my friends! Gritting his teeth, Jackson rounded the corner again with Karina and Lauren. He got down on one knee and aimed his cannon at farthest left, who had a smile on his face. "We'll see how proud you are of yourself after this bitch!"

Jackson squeezed the trigger repeatedly as 25mm slugs came flying out at supersonic speeds.

Right into an ambush. He really should've held back and checked the proceeding rooms for enemies first instead of just waltzing right into their trap. Typhon quickly ducks back into the airlock room after getting shot and slaps his helmet out of shame for not being careful enough. At least, his shoulder looked far better than Vance's chest. He makes a mental note to check him once this exchange of projectiles was finished.

Popping out of cover, he aims at the bastard that got a lucky shot and squeezes the trigger.

Unsurprisingly, the party was ambushed by a better prepared crew. Before they could even react, Vance took two shots and the Muslim doctor took one as well. Jericho was about to take cover until a mass of nearly radiating hot goop splashed on his thigh. "Plasma! My favorite!" he said with sarcasm. An android like him, made out of entirely synthetic materials, melt with ease under pressure of plasma and lasers. He was lucky his armor covered most of the damage. "Now I don't have my beloved hourglass figure!" he joked, before launching towards the nearest enemy with his blades. This time he wasn't even going to bother subduing them. He aimed straight for the neck.
