It was safe to say that parties were not Joanna's scene. At just about every party, there were your typical groups: the dancers, the stoners, the druggies, the game players, the snack eaters, the wallflowers. Joanna definitely fell into the wallflower category, or at least, she had at every party she'd gone to in the past. This was her second year at Starhill, though, and she was determined to make a name for herself. If she wanted to make it in the cutthroat, dog-eat-dog world of fame, she needed to be able to survive a simple party. Right? Right.

Still, she wasn't trying to be on Tara's level. That girl had no filter, and no stop button. Not even a pause button. Jo tried to avoid being around her if she could, because once people found out they were sisters, it was practically game over for Jo one way or another. Jo had only been here at the party for a half hour or so, and she was still nursing the same drink she'd gotten when she arrived. Everytime she'd seen Tara, though, the girl had had a new cup in her hands. Giving a small shake of her head, Jo looked down at her own drink. The ice had long since melted, and the cup was still mostly full.

Deciding to dump it, she found a bathroom in the large house and dumped the liquid down the sink before she looked back up at her reflection. Her eyeliner was still as sharp as ever, which was a bit surprising considering how full the house was and how hot some parts of it were. Leaning forward, she pursed her lips, checking her lipstick. Despite how Tara's makeup always looked runny and smokey, she had some good ideas for brands.

A knock on the door caused her to jump. "Coming!" Snatching her empty cup from the counter, she pushed off of it and turned to unlock the door, pushing it open. "Sorry." She mumbled to the person waiting, hurrying past them. Jesus, she needed someone here to talk to. Lifting her head, she looked around, making her way through the crowd. Not seeing anyone she recognized as of yet, she just made her way to the back deck of the house, finding an area not overcrowded to lean against the banister. Maybe she just wasn't party material.

Though Micah had been at the party for quite some time now, he was far from drunk. Slightly intoxicated, tipsy, having fun? Sure. But Micah knew how to pace himself to prevent checking out early. People were fucked with at parties like this if they passed out, and Micah would be damned if he was one of them. He'd never passed out at a party since arriving at Starhill, and he wasn't about to start now. He'd had a cup in his hands all night, but here's the secret: sometimes, it was just coke. He may be a bit more open to partying than Jo, but he wasn't Tara.

Smirking as he thought of his older sister, he turned, surveying the room. He hadn't run into Ricky yet, but that wasn't surprising. The party host was rarely seen all throughout the night, as he usually found someone (or multiple someones) to spend some alone time with. Micah and Ricky were on pretty good terms, since they were the same year and the same major, though they hadn't started out that way. In fact, at the first party of his Micah went to, they'd fought. Fists and everything. They laughed about it now, thankfully, and got over it.

Micah didn't even remember what they'd fought about now, to be honest. And it didn't much matter. Deciding to make his way back to the drink table, he poured a splash of rum into his cup before following it up with mostly coke, bringing it to his lips to sip as he turned away from the table. There was alot of eye candy at this party, and Micah definitely had his choosing of who he might take home. Ricky's place wasn't far from campus, and even though school didn't start for another week, dorms had already been assigned and Micah's stuff moved in.

Weaving his way through the throng of people, Micah continued to sip at his drink, his eyes looking for his next target. Someone to flirt with, or someone to talk to, whichever came first. Someone bumped him, and Micah's eyes darted in their direction, but they moved on too quickly for him to say anything. He paused, wondering whether or not to go after them when his eyes landed on a familiar face. "Leo, my man!" He grinned as he approached his friend, clasping his hand on his shoulder. "You enjoying the festivities so far?"

A fresh, lemony scent followed the blonde as she moved in and out of people at Ricky's party, looking for her best friend in the whole wide world. At some point, the girl had slipped out of Tara's eyesight, and she hadn't been able to find her since. "Mari!" She called over the others, but even her loud voice was drowned out by the thumping bass of the music. Scoffing, she dropped back down to the ground from the couch she'd been standing on, determined to find Mari even in her tipsy state. She'd pregamed before Ricky's party, maybe a little too hard.

Nothing a quick trip to the bathroom wouldn't fix. She found two bedrooms before she found one with a bathroom attached. Smirking, she disappeared inside and was back out in less than five minutes, her perfume refreshed. She got looks as she walked around the second floor of the large place, though whether that was the air freshener or her outfit, she wasn't sure. Not that it mattered much anyway. She didn't see Mari up here anyway, so she descended the stairs, deciding to ride the railing down at least halfway.

With a cheer, she jumped off at the bottom and swayed some when she landed on her feet. "MARI!" She called again, lifting her hand to take a sip from her drink. Or she would have, if she had a drink. Damn it, where had that cup gone? Fuck it, time for a new one anyway. She poured herself some champagne, deciding she liked the bubbles and wanted to look fancy. In fact, she poured two and turned away from the table, spotting a familiar flash of dark hair in the crowd.

Making a beeline for the girl, Tara wrapped her arms around her without even checking to see if it was indeed Mariana. Thankfully, it was, and Tara grinned as she held out the glass of champagne. "Ready to be a fancy bitch?" She laughed, lifting her own to take a swig. "Doesn't last long." She made a face at the mostly empty glass now, then shrugged. "We can be fancy all night." Clinking her drink against Mari's, she flung an arm around her shoulder. "Where to, my fancy bestie?"

The beginning of the senior year. How better to kick it off than with a party? And not just any party but a totally sick rave at Ricky Ramirez’s. Mariana knew about this for quite some time as she and Ricky hung out sometimes so when the time came, she was ready. Her outfit had been chosen a few days ago and Mari knew exactly what to expect. Her senior year was going to be the most important for her as she was definitely out there to score yet another lead in the school’s production. Whatever she did before was not important because it was the senior year production that really counted out there. Mari had everything under control, even the teacher responsible for the production. Let’s just say…she had her ways of…persuasion. This year, she couldn’t let anything up to coincidence, no. Everything was perfectly planned for her to succeed.

But first, this party was calling her name. Mariana walked inside, or rather, strutted inside as if she owned the place. It was already filled with people, loud music was thumping in her chest and her eyes were scanning the room, looking for that one person she wanted to kick this party off with. There were only two options for her tonight. Either Mari was going to be taken home by the hottest piece of man in this place, or she and Tara were going together and neither of them was going to remember how they got back to the dorms. But the party was going to be worth it. Either way.

It was after quite some time and a few drinks that made her sight hazy that Mari became annoyed with all those boring peasants around her. All the boys that hit on here were weak and smelled after cheap dollar-store cologne. Who was she? Did she really look like she was interested in charity? Jesus, where did all the good boys go? In the corner of her eye, she noticed Micah but there was no way in hell she was going over there. It was going to be him to approach her. And if that didn’t happen tonight, oh well, his loss. Mari could totally have fun without him. But where the hell was Tara?

The second that thought ran through her mind, when some arms wrapped around her. Mariana was ready to unleash her bitch when she noticed the familiar blonde mane and squealed. “Finally! Where were you?” she asked, taking that glass of bubbly from Tara. The blonde was right, it didn’t last long at all as the content of the cup disappeared down Mari’s throat almost immediately. “I…already am…the fancy bitch I mean.” she laughed as she was trying to reach the last drops of the champagne. “First, I wanna get a proper drink and then…” Her perfectly manicured, red-painted finger pointed on the dance floor. “That place’s been calling my name forever and I need a partner. That is…only if you’re up for it.” Mariana laughed and hit her bestie’s ass clad in that bold outfit, beelining for the drinks table. She poured herself a nice cup of bourbon, not even bothering to make it milder and took a nice gulp. “Lead on, darling!” she exclaimed and took Tara’s hand.

Parties were not exactly Ethan’s scene. Or rather, they would be if he was actually welcome. But considering people avoided him like a plague (frankly, many of them actually thought he was the plague himself). Yet, he was that idiot who always came, as if he loved being tortured by Micah Jamison and his pack of dumbasses. Ethan was not the conflict type, he basically minded his own business, was always friendly whether others were asses to him or not and simply went through school as he could. He would even fly under the radar but with his appearance, it was easier said than done.

Since high school, Ethan was a rather eccentric person. He chose to express himself in many ways, through his acting, even his music sometimes but what was the most visible was his appearance. Many girls could envy his perfectly drawn eyeliner and flawlessly black-painted nails. He already honed that skill to the next level and could do it even blindfolded. His wardrobe was more than unusual and it possibly had all the colors of the rainbow. Ethan loved his style but not everyone was as eager to appreciate his leopard prints and different patterns.

But tonight was different. Tonight, he was not going alone as he managed to get himself a company. Jude, his roommate, the normal one, not that charmer Micah, agreed to go with him. Ethan liked Jude, he was pretty chill and the two actually had something to talk about. It was extremely refreshing to finally have someone to talk to. Okay, if he had to be completely honest, he had a few people he could talk to but they were either different majors or younger than him because he met them in some classes he decided to take as older student. Jude was finally someone close to his age and since they shared the room now, Ethan had someone to stand up against bullying with him.

“Look at that. The peak of humanity.” Ethan chuckled, bringing the beer bottle to his lips as he took a long sip of the bitter liquid. He turned to Jude, shaking his head as the crowd around them was running in all directions, music was almost tearing the speakers apart and Ethan could already say that he hated that style. Okay, sure, My Chemical Romance was not exactly the best music for the party but Ethan would take it any day. Some boy stumbled around them, clasping his hand over his mouth, making gurgling sound. “Fuck no…” Ethan groaned and stepped aside. “I’m down for any suggestion you might have, dude. Just don’t want to get puked all over…” he spoke loud enough for Jude to hear him over the loud music. Ethan finished his beer and set the empty bottle on the nearby table, wondering if it actually was worth it to weave through the crown to get some more.

“What do you mean by that? I don’t have time for your laundry, Damon. Are you completely insane?” Gabby almost yelled in disbelief. She was not the one to get this emotional but Damon knew how to get to her. In all areas. At all levels. He was just that good. But doing his laundry was not exactly what she wanted to do in her free time. And what was that nasty hint? That she was responsible for washing his sheets? Asshole. Absolute fucker. Gabby was unhappy from this whole situation but knew that she had only herself to blame. It was her who kept coming to Damon every time she needed relief. He was a douchebag, of course, he always took her in and comforted her. The thing was, he could read her better than anyone else, better than her father even. And whatever he did to her, it always helped her to forget what a miserable failure she actually was.

With a sigh, Gabby closed the door after Damon ran away and just grabbed her barete, styled it on her hair and smoothed out her clothes. Until now, she didn’t really have any plans for the evening but apparently, she was doing laundry. Amazing. As if there were not hundred other options for her. But being who she was, she simply accepted her fate and walked outside of the room with a defeated expression on her face.

Only then she noticed a flyer hanging nearby and she remembered it was the night of the party. The big thing at Ricky Ramirez’s place. That was why Damon couldn’t take care of his smelly socks. With a deep breath in, Gabby narrowed her eyes and dropped the laundry bag on the ground. Fine. If Damon could go and have fun, so could she, right? Joanna was already gone and Gabby assumed she went to the mentioned rave as well. Not having enough time to change, the shy girl dragged the laundry bag to her room, kicking it away, grabbed her purse and checked her appearance. It was not exactly screaming party but oh well.

It was only some time later that Gabby was standing in front of the house and her heart was hammering against her ribcage. This was probably a huge mistake and she was not even supposed to be there. God, she was stupid. Once again, she let Damon get to her. Yet, she was there and it would be weird to just pace around or leave. How she hated her brain sometimes, that messed up thing which had to overthink every decision. “Okay, here goes…” she whispered to herself and entered the lion’s den, wondering what she even wanted there, all alone.

TRACK everybody wants to rule the world - tears for fears

jude c. burroughs
welcome to your life,
there's no turning back..

The only things running through Jude’s head was ‘‘what the fuck did I agree to?’’

He was normally not the type to say yes to parties, nor be invited for that matter, especially not to one hosted by the guy who shared the same name as one of the most famous serial killers there ever was. However, that was probably what had gotten him to agree finally. Jude Burroughs was not a guy who hated social gatherings. Oh no, he loved talking to people, or at least when people talked to him. He never turned down a conversation, or getting to meet new people. However, parties such as these pushed him out of his comfort zone – a place he’s not fond of going. Luckily, blending in was his specialty, one who seemed to pay off in his current situation.

He sighed, the bass making his heart vibrate in his chest – he could barely hear it himself. The dancing lights and smell of sweat and alcohol he had gotten used to quite a while ago, and his beer was slowly warming up in his clammy hands. Leaning back against the wall, Jude couldn’t point out many friendly faces from the crowd before him, except his lovely roommate Micah and his friends a little further inside. Jude was not a guy with many dislikes, but the younger classmate and roommate stirred some kind of emotion in him, especially when he’d watch Micah pick on people who didn’t do shit to deserve it. Like Ethan.

Ethan was probably the only guy Jude could call a proper friend, and also roommate, of course. After watching Micah and Ethan’s relationship after being forced to move in together, Jude didn’t really feel like he had a choice. Yet, despite being pretty different, the two boys had gotten along pretty quickly. The other actor had brought a sense of comfort to his student life. However, this was an exception.

Jude shook himself out of his thoughts as he heard his friend speak up next to him. The music has so loud he had to strain his ears to make out what Ethan was saying. He was just about to open his mouth to answer when this kid came running by, face as green as the beer bottle in his hand. Jude made a face as he took a sip. ’’How about we go get a new drink?’’ He shouted, accent getting heavier as he drew out each word.

The drop hit as the blonde scanned the dance floor, looking for an opening through the sea of bodies, forming a wall between them and the kitchen. ’’Someone should really open up a window in here…’’ he mumbled to himself, looking back at Ethan to make sure he was following behind, before diving into the crowd.

Violetta:
Why had she come here? It was a bad idea, she knew. She had moved in early and started getting her dorm ready for the year when she heard someone around outside and went to investigate. The large poster inviting anyone who saw it to the party of some Ramirez caught her attention and while she debated herself for some time knowing fully well she was never the type to attend those sorts of parties, ultimately a decision to meet a few others so she wouldn't be entirely out of touch with them when classes began urged her to attend. But now here she was over whelmed, over dressed, and practically trapped in a corner by drunks and dancers after a stranger had pushed past her on his way to who knows what. She was so far out of her depth she wasn't even sure how to have a conversation at a party. Gathering up a bit of mental strength she pushed herself off the wall and through the crowd towards a patio door. Of all the times for a cigarette now seemed like a good one, and she knew it would help her relax. Hopefully when she came back in she could figure out how to start an actual conversation with one of them.
She surveyed what she saw: Goth kid, drunk girl, guy trying to hit on someone and failing miserably, patio door, and she made her way through the crowd past another drunk girl, crying drunk girl, group of guys who seem way to drunk this early on, and she was out. She slipped outside quickly, sticking to the patio and not going to far into the back yard where a few drunk people seem to already have gathered. She was going to stay, it was going to be fine, but she felt a lot of anxiety build up in her chest as she put the cigarette in her mouth and grabbed a lighter from her purse. Breathe in the smoke and calm down, she thought. You're going to do well at the party and it will be a positive beginning to this year.

Alessandro Talia idly gazed out the passenger side window as unfamiliar streetlights slowly passed by. He rarely ever left his room, much less the house, so being outside was quite frankly new to him, however depressing that may sound. The reason this hermit was given to leave his fortress of a room was that his father had just found a night sale in one of Andro's favorite bookshops while they were doing some errands. The minute he heard "sale" and "bookshop", Andro was dressed in his iconic jet black hoodie, earphones plugged in, podcast playing (like a total nerd), strapped into the passenger seat of the car.

Andro sighed as he fiddled with the air conditioning, unused to the humid air everywhere other than his room. After a few seconds of fiddling, he sat idly, content with the cold gushes of air that pumped out of the little vents on the dashboard, the twenty-year-old glanced over to the driver's seat, looking up and down an empty chair.
Normally I'd be driving, but this sad excuse for a sister wouldn't tell me which bookshop Mom and Dad are at.
A few minutes later, Andro's patience wore thin.
"Oh my god-" he muttered before practically ripping the car door open and sticking his head out, "LEXI. WHERE THE H-"

His sentence got cut off as a paper popper snapped in his face, catching him off guard as he tumbled back into his seat in shock. Immediately the obnoxious sound of Alexandra's laugh filled the crisp night air, a sound Andro is all too familiar with. The older brother lay in his seat and clutched his chest, scared out of his mind. He despised her little pranks, and a little spark of vengeance lit inside him to remind him of the fact. He was just about to lunge at the eighteen-year-old before the car door slammed in his face, muffling the still ongoing laughter.

Andro's brown eyes bore knives as they followed the figure of his sister crossing over to the other side of the car, resting steadily on the driver's side door handle. It opened steadily, letting in another squealing barrage of laughter, adding even more fuel to the fire that was Andro's fury. When his sister got in the car, he barely opened his mouth as he steeled his mind into not falling for her devilish tricks.

Don't give in, it's what she wants, he reminded himself, but the incessant giggling and sideways glances were chewing away at his determination.

Finally, Alexandra quieted down.

"God, finally. It's like your lung capacity knows no end," he murmured.
"PFFFT, lighten up, Andro! You should've seen your face- Gosh! I should've recorded it, absolutely priceless!"
"Blech, if you had snapped a photo I would've gone straight back to my room. No book is worth your worthless pranks."
"Uh-huh, uh-huh, not even the newest sequel to that weird devil summoners series you read?"
"Of course, it only depends on whether or not it's paperback o-"
"-Hardback, yeah, yeah, I've heard book-talk before and it ain't interesting."
"You aren't interesting."
"I inherited it from you, jackass!"
"That's not how genetics work. You haven't been reading the biology book I lent you huh?"
"I-"
"Wow, just wow. I'm just gonna save the lecture for later while you keep your eyes on the road, we aren't getting to the bookshop if we crash into a..."

His voice trailed off as they pulled up to a random house, one with a full-blown party in place. His heart sank, hearing Lexi chuckle to herself as the car rolled to a stop.

"Eheh~ ...party?" came the annoying voice of his sister.

Andro's gaze flicked between the party and the idiot in the driver's seat before promptly crossing his arms and slumping into his seat like some kid throwing a tantrum.

"I'm not going," Andro mouthed.
"Yes, you are."
"No, I'm not and you can't make me."
"Well, that's where you're wrong, big brotha! Lookie here~"

An all-too-familiar tone of mischief wriggled its way into Andro's ear, forcing him to look over. Sadly for him, what his sister held in her hands was a hardback, first-edition, signed copy of the very first book of the devil summoner's series mentioned earlier. Not only that, an uncapped marker pen of the most impossible neon pinks was held just barely above the cover. A look of terror and pure fear simmered on his face before disappearing. Assessing the situation, Andro said, "You wouldn't."

Lexi sharply inhaled
"I kinda would. So get your butt outta the car. Cammon!" she beckoned.

Scared to provoke any permanent damage to his prized possession, Andro swiftly got out of the car, hands up as if he was being held at gunpoint.
"O-okay, I'm out."
"Very good! I've locked the car, so now you can have your book back!"

Andro watched in horror as his prized possession sailed through the air, forcing him to scramble to catch it. Unfortunately for him, two bad things happened. He caught it, but it was mainly his face that took the brunt. And when he did, what he held in his hands after was not his prized possession. It was, in fact, the biology book he lent Lexi with a copy of his prized book's cover pasted on top.

"LEXI! he screamed, hands shaking in anger. But when he looked up to locate his soon-to-be murder victim, she was long gone. He turned to the house with music blasting and people causing a general racket, debating on whether or not murder was possible in such a place.

Godammit. Lexi has the keys and I don't have any means to unlock this door legally..

With that thought, Andro popped his hoodie and admitted defeat, trudging towards a party he never thought he'd find himself in. Ever. When he got inside, immediately he pumped up the volume in his earphones, hoping the pair of his popped hood and earphones would be enough to deter any interaction with such...

Heathens, he thought to himself as he scanned the room, becoming fully aware of all the nonsense that was happening.

Even if I find Lexi, she won't give me the keys until the party ends. And I'm not about to be showcasing some roughhousing here, not ever, he thought, wincing as he tried to blink away the stars that still lingered in his eyes from the book's impact. Not wanting to dilly-dally too long, Andro tried looking around for the nearest bathroom, any sign of a bathroom, or even any reflective surface he could check himself in. If the pain still wasn't gone, it might mean it was gonna him a black eye.

When I get back home and after Mother's done killing me for the black eye, dear old Lexi is never going to see the light of day again.

Leo / Location: Party outfit

It had really been a hell of a few weeks for Leo. Two months ago his only plan in life was to keep working odd acting jobs in Los Angeles and live by no rules apart from his own. No, it wasn't a plan at all, and Leo liked it that way. A lot had changed with one phone call from the matriarch of Leo's acting career- his own mother. The call was like most of the calls with his mom, and like most conversations in general with her, really. Centered around Leo's waning success and what she thought he needed to do to fix it. Sometimes he wondered if she even cared whether acting made him happy, because ever since she got the slightest glimpse of the promise and talent he had exhibited as a child, she had worked in overdrive to bring some kind of success into fruition. In her mind of course, success showed forth in monetary fruits; Leo did not feel the same way. The way he saw it, his dear old Mom was going to keep forking over the cash for him to live off of until... well, he hadn't gotten that far, but he was not feeling particularly rushed. Regardless, the difference in the conversation had come about when she had said he was enrolling in school and that he had no other options because she'd already done it for him and she'd paid for it. Acting school was his next chapter in life, and he was barely given any notice. So he haphazardly threw what little belongings he had in LA together in his Louis Vuitton suitcases (a parting gift from Mother, of course) and headed to NY. The change had not been too difficult for him, and it wasn't his first trip to New York anyway.

Settling in on campus hadn't been too difficult for him either, Leo was enjoying the opportunity to meet all of the new people and experience all of the new drama. He had been invited by several people to some party celebrating the beginning of the school year. He had turned down the offer the first few times, he'd promised his mother he would lay low and focus on his work.... After at least the third invite it had gotten just too tempting, and here he was. He had managed to have a few conversations over the loud music already but had, for several minutes now, been alone in thought with a drink in hand. It was a plastic cup full of lukewarm white wine which was disgusting, but Leo refused to drink just about anything else despite the monster of a headache he knew he would have in the morning.

It took several minutes to remember the name of the gentleman who had approached him now, but after some searching he remembered, Micah. "Oh you know, to the best of my abilities. If this is just the start I'm pretty excited to see where the rest of the year is going to take us... This isn't your first year, right? Is it gonna get weirder than this? Please tell me it's gonna get weirder than this..." Leo knew he was a little older than most people were during their first year, but he considered it a perk. It was nice to have some other life experience behind him before dedicating himself to the disaster that was college, even one dedicated to the arts.

Alexandra Talia giddily hopped down the stairs of their house, daintily clad in her favorite party-going outfit. Stopping at the mirror to take one last look at her reflection and to correct a few last-minute details, she mentally went over the plan one last time. She glanced through the door side windows at her older brother who slumped in the passenger seat of the car, smirking at the fact that he was, well, outside. Sneaky little Alexandra had conjured up a devious plan, one that started with her being told by Mom and Dad about a "night sale at your brother's favorite bookshop". In reality, their parents had only just gone to the grocery store and the bookshop night sale was a party down at the Ramirez's place. Did she know Ramirez? No. Did she care? Not really. After all, a party's a party.

Hang on... Should I even be dragging Andro along? I mean, sure... the plan is foolproof. Of course, it shatters all the trust he has in me. Is that worth bringing him to the party? Will he even enjoy it there? Wh- Her thoughts were cut off as an alarm rang from her phone, prompting the girl to dig out her phone. She scanned the screen that displayed text saying:

13 Minutes Up: Brother's Patience Nearly Exhausted

The alarm title slapped a mischievous smile onto her face, recognizing the alarm as her cue to pull out a small slip of paper that she folded into a paper popper. Slipping out the front door, she crept up to the car and lay in wait, akin to a predator about to pounce on its prey. Two minutes passed and the car door opened as an impatient, pissed-off Andro stepped out of the car yelling, "LEXI. WHERE THE H-"

Immediately, Lexi lept forwards and snapped the little slip of paper extremely close to his face, releasing an ear-shattering smack point-blank in Andro's face. Seeing a priceless look plaster itself on her brother's face, she launched into laughter as he staggered backward to fall in his seat. Satisfied with a successful prank yet again, she sauntered her way over to the driver's door, still infected with squeals and snickers. She was about to finally quit with the teasing but even when she got inside the car, her brother's solemn glares made her want to crack up even more.

This went on for a few minutes before Lexi finally ran out of laugh juice, piping down till only the rumble grumble of the car engine was audible. That is until Andro spoke up.

"God, finally. It's like your lung capacity knows no end," she heard him murmur.
In reply, she chimed, "PFFFT, lighten up, Andro! You should've seen your face- Gosh! I should've recorded it, absolutely priceless!"
"Blech, if you had snapped a photo I would've gone straight back to my room. No book is worth your worthless pranks,"
came the retort.

Oh honey no, you may have been a debate champion in high school but I know you like the back of my hand. she smirked at the thought.

"Uh-huh, uh-huh, not even the newest sequel to that weird devil summoners series you read?"
"Of course, it only depends on whether or not it's paperback o-"
"-Hardback, yeah, yeah, I've heard book-talk before and it ain't interesting."

It was true though. Lexi had known her older brother for all her life and the incessant topic of books always was a real staple in Andro's conversational, well, book.

"You aren't interesting," her brother replied with a sad excuse of an insult.
"I inherited it from you, jackass!" she responded with another sad excuse of a retort.
"That's not how genetics work. You haven't been reading the biology book I lent you huh?"
"I-"
she stammered. If she lied about reading the book then it'd make the rest of the night just a tiny bit worse for both Andro and Lexi.

"Wow, just wow. I'm just gonna save the lecture for later while you keep your eyes on the road, we aren't getting to the bookshop if we crash into a..."

Oh boy, Lord, if I get murdered tonight let it be when I'm completely wasted with a drink in my hand.

"Eheh~ ...party?"
she pleaded in the most innocent voice she could muster.

A few seconds of gut-wrenching silence passed between the two as Lexi watched her brother contemplate his life choices before slumping into his seat.

"I'm not going," Andro mouthed.
"Yes, you are."
"No, I'm not and you can't make me."

Andro, I didn't want to use my last resort but you've forced me to do so.

"Well, that's where you're wrong, big brotha! Lookie here~"
, she chirped, pulling out the biology book Andro lent her. Earlier this evening, she had taken the book and plastered a photocopy of Andro's prized first-edition book covers onto the textbook, hoping the dim, flickering light was enough to pass it off as the real deal. Fortunately for her, Andro bought the bluff and agreed to step outside, the last fatal mistake to guaranteeing her brother at a party!

Seeing as her brother had willingly stepped out of the vehicle, she announced, "Very good! I've locked the car, so now you can have your book back!" Chucking the book at him, she booked it for the party before Andro had time to recollect himself.

I'm probably going to die when I get home but I think I'll be fineeeee~

From somewhere behind her, a very pissed-off Talia man screamed her name.

Maybe a bit less than fine.

But the minute she stepped into the house, all her worries melted away. This was her kingdom, nothing could take it away. A split second of sisterly worry manifested in her, causing her to peer over her shoulder to find her brother slowly making his way towards the house with a hand hovering over his eye. Hoping nothing was too bad, she shrugged the feeling off and disappeared into the crowd, ready to meet friends of old and perhaps some friends of new.

Jay liked parties, they were always full of life and drama. People getting drunk and exposing their greatest dreams or deepest fears. You could hear interesting and eye opening conversations. It was great to see people having fun time. Laughing and talking. Dancing, singing and of course getting drunk. Even the preparation for parties was fun. Inviting people, decorating, buying snacks and drinks. But the absolutely best part of party preparations was getting yourself ready for parties. Making yourself look good and wearing a cool outfit was the part of partying Jay enjoyed most. Besides that, he was able to hold his alcohol pretty well and he enjoyed dancing over anything. He really loved parties.

Well.. partly yes, but partly no. However he didn't hate them either. But there was one big problem: people. He wasn't aloof, no, and he didn’t hate people. He just really hated his tendency to get himself into odd situations. He was extremely easily influenced by others to do dumb and risky stuff. He didn't have the best decision making abilities and being intoxicated by alcohol didn't help that at all. So far Jay had been staying close to walls, avoiding the center area that had more people, more action. Usually in parties he would just move from place to place like an overly excited and active child. He would take part in drinking games, get drunk, dance a lot and sing along even though he was tone deaf, but hey, his voice was kind of good. Kind of. Not really, but he was too confident to be ashamed of it.

This time he had come to the party with a couple friends. However they got seperated right away. So far he had been avoiding getting himself into odd situations. Avoiding all risky and dumb decisions. He had small talked, well listened to others small talking, with some acquaintances. He had a mug full of beer, his second one so far. He didn't feel drunk or even tipsy yet. He would get there soon. Usually he preferred sweet drinks like blueberry cocktails or different ciders, but this would do the deed. Jay hadn't gone so far in avoiding getting trouble as not choosing to drink. It would have been smart, too smart for him actually. Besides who would come to a party and stay sober? Well, not him. That was for sure.

Jay started to feel bored already. What was the point of coming to a party and drinking alone? Pointless, totally pointless. He didn't need to go into a stranger's place in order to do that. Pfftt. He could get drunk completely alone in his dorm room. Expect he wouldn't since drinking alone was pathetic. He didn't want to leave the party yet, since he had just came to there. Jay wanted to have some fun, but not too much fun. It was quite difficult for him to balance between those desires. Which was enough fun and which too much? And that's when he saw her: Jenny. A girl who adored his style and who often chatted with him. Jenny was a good person, but most importantly she was proper and studious. He surely wouldn't get into trouble in a company like that.

So he approached the girl. "Heyy, Jennie girl! Are you enjoying yourself?" He kept a small pause in his speech, and showed a big friendly smile that revealed a row of white teeth. Pepsodent smile. An ideal smile you would see in a commercial showcasing xylitol bubble gum or toothpaste. "Would you like to come dance with me? I can teach you how to!"

Jenelle Kennedy
a little party never hurt anybody...

Jenelle stood awkwardly in the corner watching the party rage around her, demurely sipping her second cup of beer. Looking around, she desperately wished she'd chosen a different outfit; something more alluring to fit in with everyone else. The vintage babydoll dress she had on was plenty risqué in her opinion, much shorter than anything she'd normally wear, but it didn't exactly scream "party" the way the other girls' sexy 'fits did.

Parties were never Jenelle's scene. Or more accurately, she just didn't fit the mold for her own narrow view of what a "party girl" was. The type of girl that could slice through a crowd in razor-sharp stilettos, grinding against strangers as she passed by, and could throw back tons of shots without her face getting all red. Jenelle would consider herself lucky if she didn't trip over her own feet and faceplant while mildly tipsy.

Normally, Jenny would be happily relaxing at home right now with a nice face mask treatment, watching the same Golden Girls repeats she'd seen 100 times before. What made her come to this party then? Maybe she wanted to turn over a new leaf this year, and be the type that went to all the parties, got drunk, danced and made out with random people. Yes, that was her official reason she told herself. It had nothing to do with hoping to see a certain tall, gorgeous, eyeliner-wearing fellow. As she sipped her beer, Jenny pondered how much booze it would take for her actually rock up to Ethan and start a conversation, but the idea made her shudder, as alcohol poisoning didn't sound like a fun way to end the night.

Jenny blinked out of her daydreams as someone approached, perking at the sight of her friend Jay. "Jay! Hii!" Giggling, she pulled him into a hug. "Oh yeah, I'm partying it up over here in my lame corner." She raised her glass, rolling her eyes at her own pathetic wallflower status.

"Yes! Let's goooo!" Perking at the suggestion to dance, Jenny quickly chugged the rest of her cup and grabbed Jay's hand to pull him out to the "dance floor"; really just a crowd of their sloppy drunk peers grinding in the middle of the room. But she had to admit, she'd been watching everyone else dance all night and it looked hella fun, though she'd never dream of jumping out there by herself.

The fruits of Jay's best efforts to teach her fly dance moves basically amounted to Jenny hopping around with spastic, exaggerated movements, some voguing, and a bit of twerking thrown in for good measure. Luckily she was a bit tipsy after a couple beers and having a blast regardless of how ridiculous she looked, laughing with Jay until she saw a familiar face in her periphery.

Jenny grinned as she recognized the blonde boy ambling by as her friend Jude, and she almost ran over to attack him with a friendly hug. She stopped dead in her tracks, however, spotting the tall guy trailing behind him, scrambling to whirl around and scurry to safety behind Jay. "OhmyGOD, it's Ethan!" Jenny squeaked, peeking out from behind her friend to watch the pair cross the room and enter the kitchen, and heaved a sigh of relief when they they were safely out of sight.

let's get this party started right...

Ah, another new year at Starhill was about to begin. And that, of course, meant another party at Ricky's to commemorate it. Ricky always threw the most raging parties, but there was something extra special about these pre-first day of school parties. Everyone was abuzz with excitement for the promise of a brand new school year, and what the future might hold. So you would think Teddy would be able to find at least one girl that was feeling optimistic (i.e. drunk) enough to take a chance on him. But he was striking out left and right, unable to hold a single girl's attention for more than a few moments it seemed.

Teddy, already pretty well lubricated on this fine evening, wondered if he should just call the night a bust, give up, and start drinking in earnest. He decided to hold that thought and instead get some air, making his way toward the crowded terrace. Scanning the sea of faces for anyone he might know, he perked up spotting Joanna Jamison's pretty face, her long, dark hair blowing in the wind. As if he wasn't already enjoying this perfect view enough, the crowd happened to part at just the right moment to give him a full eyefull of the brunette, and his jaw nearly dropped to the floor at the sight of the alluring getup she was rocking, complete with fishnets and a fully bare midriff. Joanna was a classic beauty, and she was always hot in a cute, girl-next-door way, but right now she was drop-dead ridonkulously sexy. All of a sudden, it felt like Teddy's night was improving.

Realizing he'd been frozen in place staring, Teddy took a moment to fish around his pocket for his phone, flicking through to open the camera and fuss with his hair a bit in its reflection. Finally satisfied with his appearance, he stuffed his phone back in his black jeans, ambling through the crowd in his distinctly lackadaisical way, and settled beside the brunette. "Heyyy, Jo!" Teddy offered his most charming smile, hazel eyes sparkling with mischief. He held up a hand, open palm facing her in the universal invitation for a high five. Well...nobody ever said our boy wasn't a huge dork.

"What are you up to out here? Having a good night? Uh..by the way, you look unbelievable," Teddy blurted out. Bound to happen sooner or later, as it was really the dominant thought running through his mind now that he was standing in such close proximity to Joanna, glowing like a goddess bathed in pale moonlight. So flustered by her beauty, he couldn't help but drop his posturing for a quick moment, throwing an almost shy glance at his feet while he ran a hand through his hair. "But yeah...you look really amazing," He added a tad bit sheepishly, punctuated with a nervous chuckle.

Clearing his throat awkwardly, the boy collected himself once again to move on with his "sales pitch." "Soooo..." He rested a hand on the railing behind Jo, leaning in slightly as he loomed over her. "You having fun? Did you wanna grab a drink or something?"

As Joanna had been getting ready for the party earlier, it was easy to convince herself that things would be different. The only people aside from the few friends she had who knew her name only knew it because of Micah or Tara. One way or another, she wasn't Joanna, she was Micah's little sister or Tara's little sister. Coming to Starhill, Joanna had wanted to make a name for herself. She wanted people to know her name, not one of her sibling's. Granted, they were both talented in their own right, but so was Joanna, damnit. She'd been writing lyrics and singing sentence since before she could talk (or so it felt). So why was it so hard to break out of her own shell?

As Jojo leaned against the banister out back, she drew in a shaky breath and let it out slowly. If there was someone here she could talk to, she needed to go find them, not just wait out here and expect them to come to her. But still, she didn't move away from the railing, her head hanging low as she listened to the party basically going on around her. It was almost as if she were in a bubble, unnoticed by everyone. Until she wasn't.

Out of nowhere, a male voice sounded off from beside her. Her head popped up and swiveled, Teddy Kavinsky coming into her line of sight. Well, Teddy wasn't who she expected to see, but this was something, right? A start to what she wanted. Straightening, she turned to face him, a smile curling her lips upwards as her head tilted to the side. "Hey, Teddy." She greeted, her eyes flicking up to his hand, held palm out towards her. Too late she realized he was waiting for a high-five. "Oh!" She lifted her hand to clap it against his, feeling warmth flooding her face as she let out a nervous laugh. "Got it."

The embarrassment flooded her face further when he started asking questions, ending with telling her she looked unbelievable. Really, she hadn't thought her outfit was that spectacular, but the compliment was nice. She glanced down at herself and then back up at him, lifting her hand to tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "Aww, thanks, Teddy." She bit down on her bottom lip, another soft laugh escaping her. Teddy leaned in closer, and Jo's breath caught in her throat at the proximity. She wasn't a stranger to Teddy's flirtatious ways, but for some reason tonight they were hitting extra hard. "I... am. Kinda." She answered him, hearing the awkwardness in her own voice. "But sure. Let's get a drink."

Micah had to admit that he was on the prowl. For what, he wasn't exactly sure, but he needed something to occupy his time. The party was amazing, as Ricky's parties always were, but Micah needed something a little more interesting to fill his time. Maybe he could find a pretty girl to dance with, or possibly even find a vacant spot on the couch or room with. He could go join the stoners in the corner of the living room, work on hotboxing the house with them. He already had a drink in hand and a nice buzz going on, so now it was time for something more.

Finding Leo was a start. With a huge grin on his face, Micah didn't even notice that it took Leo a moment to greet him back. As far as Micah was concerned, everyone knew who he was. How could they not? He was gifted in more than one department, though acting was by far his best and favorite. Still, he could sing, he could dance, he could write when he wanted. He considered himself a jack of all trades when it came to the Starhill departments, and fame in general. He figured he was off to a good start, and honestly, he was ready to graduate and make a name for himself.

Letting go of Leo, Micah stepped back, lifting his drink back to his lips to take another swig. He nearly spit out his drink though when Leo asked him if things were going to get weirder. "For fucking sure, man." Micah nodded, taking yet another drink before he turned around to face the rest of the party. "If you want weird, you might wanna check out the basement. That's where the blacklights are." Micah wiggled his eyebrows in Leo's direction, a smirk tugging at his lips. "Of course, maybe that's just gross, not weird. But to each his own."

He looked back at the man beside him, giving him a onceover, almost as though he were thinking on something. "What department are you in again? You look like you'd make a great actor, like me." He gestured to himself, his grin still as wide as it had been before. "God, there's so many people. I can't keep track of who's in what, especially when there's overlap. You looking to find someone to go home with, man? I can definitely help you out in that department, too."

Tara didn't know where Mariana was, but that didn't stop her from having a good time. She was definitely lit, having lost count of how many drinks she'd had at this point. She hadn't even finished them all, she would drink some of it, set it down and then completely forget about it. And once that happened, she'd just pick up a new one. She didn't care who's drink it was, if she saw it, she'd grab it. If she didn't like it, set it down, find a new one. She knew she was getting stares not only for that but also her eccentric outfit, but when had that ever stopped her before? Exactly.

But when she found Mari, Tara immediately beelined to her, wrapping her arms around the girl to surprise her. She could see the look of hatred in Mari's eyes when she turned, until she recognized Tara and squealed instead. "Oh you know, here and there." Tara laughed, releasing Mari and stepping back some. When Mari called herself a fancy bitch, Tara threw her head back and laughed. Howled, almost. "I got you on the proper drink and the dance. Let's hit it, girlfriend." Grinning, she jumped when Mari hit her behind, wiggling it a little bit and batting her eyelashes at the girl.

"You know how I like it." She winked before they headed for the drink table. Tara took a moment to study the liquor bottles before she decided on some vodka, pouring it in her cup about halfway. Then she caught sight of the whiskey, and shrugged. Fuck it, right? Mixing liquors was probably not the best idea, but Tara had a strong stomach. Mixing the liquors together, she took a swig and then grabbed Mari's hand, leading her to the dance floor. She didn't know the song playing, but it had a good beat so Tara was happy to dance to it, and she knew Mari would be as well.

Honestly, Tara would dance the night away if she could. She'd find someone to make out with at some point, guy or girl, it didn't matter. But if they weren't worth it, oh well, on to the next one. She'd be fine without hooking up, it was more the fun of the making out after dancing your ass off (or sometimes during) that really made her happy. "This is amazing!" Tara shouted above the music, leaning in closer to her friend so that she would hear. "Oh, I see Micah over there. You want him?" Tara smirked at Mari, laughing again as she downed more of her drink. "I'm kidding, yeesh!"

"Oh, thanks. You look sweet too", Jay said with a smile. He always felt flattered when someone complimented his style. Soon after, Jenny pulled him into a hug. Jay was a little surprised by the sudden hug, but he didn't mind about it. "Oh yeah, I'm partying it up over here in my lame corner." She raised her glass while rolling her eyes. Jay giggled at the girl's comment. "Aaaw. Don't say so! People love flowers, I'm sure wall flowers aren't an exception." What was supposed to be praise ended up sounding a little shady. However Jay didn't mean it that way and he was sure Jenny would understand.

Jenny agreed on going to the dance floor. Well.. it was more of a sea of drunken people singing out loud and moving foolishly, totally not in rhyme, while music was playing. Anyways, it was still fun! Jay moved flawlessly and naturally, being one with his body. He truly loved dance, no matter whether he was at ballet practise, performing or clubbing.

Jenny seemed to be enjoying herself too. She had her.. own style of dancing. Basically Jenny was hopping around withspastic, exaggerated movements, some voguing, and a bit of twerking sprinkled in. She didn't seem to get what Jay was trying to teach her. However it was fun to see Jenny 'dancing' and totally enjoying herself. She seemed to be pretty tipsy, and Jay hoped he would be too. Tipsy or not, he still had fun and both of them were laughing.

"OhmyGOD, it's Ethan!" Jenny squeaked, peeking out from behind Jay, who glanced over the same direction. Jay could see how Ethan and that one blonde guy crossed the room in order to go to the kitchen. When they weren't in the sight anymore, Jenny let out a relieved sigh. However Jay wouldn't let her have that. Soon his face was painted with a mischievous smile. "Come Jennie girl, let's have a nice chat with them!" Now it was his turn to pull his friend. He wouldn't listen to any objections.

Soon Jay was in the kitchen, pulling Jenny behind him. “Heeyy! How has the party been for you guys so far?” He asked while giving out his best teeth smile, the one he had flashed before for Jenny as well. Jay wasn’t exactly friends with either the blond guy, Jude?, Nor with Ethan. But that hadn’t stopped him from talking to anyone before either. He was the master of forcing himself on others' company afterall.

However, he sometimes liked to bother Ethan and compliment his makeup while begging him to share his skills. But that was pretty much all there was to their relationship. That reminded Jay, he hadn’t complimented Ethan's makeup yet today. “Dude, your eyes look dope like always. I really can’t do eyeliner like that so I just stick with eyeshadow.”

Alessandro Talia was the first student in the auditorium, his trusty pen scanner gliding over the pages of his Rhetoric: Art of Persuasive Writing and Public Speaking book. Andro was never the type to voice out his feelings on certain things, making this subject one of his worst subjects. (Even if he still gets exceptional marks on quizzes and whatnot) He normally breezed through subjects, but Rhetoric forced him to take a second glance at the book every now and then, and he hated it.

The semi-cool air that wafted from the vents high above the auditorium tousled Andro's messy hair as he found his usual spot in the auditorium, three rows in front of the stage on the leftmost seat. It was the most ideal seat seeing as the only person who would actually choose to sit next to him is his sister. Having only one adjacent seat removes the possibility of having a stranger sit next to him, providing exceptional social comfort. Being three rows away from the stage puts him in what he likes to call the "blind spot" of the teachers stage view. He hasn't formally tested out if the "blind spot" actually works but it seems like so so far. Triumphant with his debatably necessary analysis of seat location, he deflated into his seat, returning his attention once more to his pen-scanner and textbook. He could read and pen-scan with no noses snooping into his business.

"HEY ANDRO!"

Andro flinched and let loose a tiny yelp before staring daggers into the perpetrator, his sister. Well, almost no snooping noses. he thought to himself. But this was the most he could do for himself. "Shut up. Don't bother me. Stay. Here." Andro enunciated the last two words of his reply, knowing full well thoughts of cutting class was once again flowing through his sister's mind. Like every other time he'd told her to stay in class, he hoped to whatever deity, scientific or not, out there would spare a tiny bit of godly power to keep his sister in class. It was a desperate measure for the agnostic Andro, but it was one he would take if it meant Lexi wouldn't cut class.

"So, what do you think's the kerfuffle all about?"
Andro scoffed and returned to his book, never having heard the word kerfuffle in a long long time.
"I don't know, maybe if you would sit still for five minutes you'd soon come to know? It really isn't that hard."
"Oh shut up, I'm asking what do YOU think, not what the actual announcement is. Good Lord, you'd think with that megabrain of yours you'd be able to understand basic human communication."
"Says the person who can barely keep up in our Rhetoric subject."
"Wow. Low blow, Andro, low blow. Even y-"
"Ah- Shhh, shh, shh," the brunet shoved a hand in Lexi's face, "Enough out of you."

The 20-year-old never looked up from his book during that whole exchange, knowing full well his sister's face would just burden him with more annoyance than good. All he needed to see was the neat font of his book and all he needed to hear was the faint buzz of his pen. A few minutes droned by and the rest of the world tuned out, a state of mind that Andro adores greatly. But something felt off. This wasn't your ordinary school, and something told him this wasn't going to be an ordinary announcement.

Whatever thoughts started bubbling to the surface and raced around in his mind, he kept to himself. Perhaps he was wrong. But then again, when has Andro ever been wrong?

tired hallway > auditorium outfit mentions Andro Hugh Flynn Hugh Flynn

One of Jay's favorite edm artists had dropped a new album last evening. It was probably their best album so far. Jay had been super excited about it and ended up dancing the whole night while blasting the songs. Well.. now it retaliated. He had slept only two hours in the morning, and he felt really tired. He hadn’t even bothered to do his make up today. Instead he had styled his hair into this ‘space buns’ type of deal. His outfit was dope too, as always. It was care bears themed and included this amazing pink faux fur jacket and matching platform shoes. Then he had furry bear earrings that were like the cherry on top. His ‘schoolbag’ on the other hand wasn’t very aesthetic. Just a white tote bag that was big enough to fit all his stuff. Then in his locker he would have change clothes for dance classes.

He walked towards the auditorium, music still blasting out from his headphones. Jay would normally have math at this time, but luckily not today. There was some sort of info given in the auditorium. He was barely passing his current math course. He tried his best though, well not really, but he did try.. a little bit. I should ask Andro to teach me. I cannot understand anything Mrs. Cauliflower is saying., he thought. Mrs. Cauliflower, not her real name, wasn’t Jay’s favorite teacher. She wasn’t too bad, she was just… herself. And that was too much.

Earlier she had been an elementary school teacher and became a university professor, after studying some more. That could be seen in the way she acted. She had curly platinum blond hair that looked more like cauliflower than hairstyle, hence her ‘nickname’. She was closer to her fifties and treated her student’s like kids. Instead of actually explaining the mathematical formulas, she gave absurd advice like Try to learn with pictures. Draw the math problem or even better Imagine yourself in the math problem. What the hell did even that mean?

It didn’t take much time when Jay found himself from the auditorium. His gaze went through the whole room in order to take note if there were any of his acquaintances. His gaze stopped at Andro who seemed to be in his own inner worlds. Jay wasn’t sure if he should scream the other male’s name and go to sit near him, or just let him be. After thinking about it for a second, Jay decided on the latter. This year would be about self growth. No more getting in trouble for doing what others said. He would make his own decisions, act polite and be the best version of himself. A big yawn interrupted Jay’s thoughts. He tried to hide it and went to sit a couple rows further from Andro.

Alexandra Talia was actually in an auditorium. An auditorium. It was practically a miracle, her being there, since she regarded such areas to be fatally boring. In her words, areas like auditoriums and classrooms provided "way too little scope for the imagination". Obviously, her brother would tackle back with there being "way too much scope for the imagination" had she just listened intently. That then sparks the whole "what interests you doesn't interest me" debate, which usually ends in physical injuries.

Lexi slowly wiggled her way through the throngs of students that poured through the auditorium's double doors, trying to find a familiar face to sit next to.

Come on, anyone would d-

Her eyes came across the unmistakable back of a head topped with tousled brown hair, the repulsive head of her brother, Andro.

Blech, on second thought, anyone else would be better.

Her brother had a nasty little habit akin to any mother in church, pinching and poking Lexi to pay attention to the droning of whoever was on stage. It drove her up the wall, and if noone else were around she'd scream and kick the shit out of him right then and there.

After a few seconds, a little plan hatched in Lexi's mind as her friend-making and mischievous personality traits lit up like a bulb. She started dodging and weaving her way through the rest of the crowd, slowly but surely making her way to the seat next to Andro.

"HEY ANDRO!" the younger Talia shouted, loud enough to startle but not enough to draw attention. She cackled to herself as she sat next to her brother, brown orbs once again jumping from student to student in search of one person.

Now... anyone else I know would do nicely she thought as her brown eyes scanned the crowd, lighting up with a sparkle as two unmistakable space buns bounced to and fro above the rest of the crowd. Unmistakably, those buns belong to none other than them, the perfect person for the job. But first...

"So, what do you think's the kerfuffle all about?" she asked, genuine interest in her voice.

Her brother scoffed, replying, "I don't know, maybe if you would sit still for five minutes you'd soon come to know? It really isn't that hard."

DID THIS BITCH JUST-

"Oh shut up, I'm asking what do YOU think, not what the actual announcement is. Good Lord, you'd think with that megabrain of yours you'd be able to understand basic human communication," came the rapid fire retort.

"Says the person who can barely keep up in our Rhetoric subject."

Lexi gasped, "Wow. Low blow, Andro, low blow. Even y-"

"Ah- Shhh, shh, shh," her brother shoved a hand in Lexi's face, "Enough out of you."

Increasingly annoyed with this rat of a brother, she turned behind to find her space-bun-donning friend. Ten seconds later, her eyes locked on Jamie Amponsah, the eccentric but social flower. She'd just met the guy and already she was all over him, seeing as Jay was also a friend of Andro's. Lexi pounced on every opportunity to give Andro more friends, and she only hoped each time would work.

This will work this time. I hope. I think. Possibly. Maybe. Here goes nothing.

Lexi glanced at her brother, registering how all of his attention was on his book and scanner, before slipping out of her seat to waltz a few rows back. Appearing in the seat right in front of Jay, she crossed her arms over the back of the chair and leaned on them, giving Jay the best smile she could muster.

"Hi hi hi~! You look very alone, come sit with me! And my pathetic excuse for a brother but hey, at least he's useful academic-wise amirite?" she chirped as she got up, "Ya comin'?"

Her outward demeanor screamed confidence but Lexi's inward demeanor was more like Oh God please say yes I'll die if you say no thanks so please say yes. yes? yes. pleaSE-

One friend at a time, Lexi. One at a time.

“I can’t see you tonight, I have an evening class and will probably end way too late. Perhaps tomorrow?” Mariana asked as she slipped in her floral dress and zipped them up.

“Tomorrow’s no go, I’m leaving the city for a few days. It’s either tonight or then when I come back.” Christopher Keegen lifted off the bed and stretched his back, cracking it properly. He spent a fair amount of time in there and it was starting to show. Plus he had a class to teach in a few. “Hurry, love, I need to get to class.” he added, ushering Mariana away from the bedroom.

“Wow, classy. I have a class as well. No need to be a gentleman here.” Mari rolled her eyes and grabbed her leather jacket. “I’ll let you know about tonight.” she smiled and kissed him goodbye.

Whatever happened here was not only weird but completely wrong and unhealthy. But Mariana Lopez rarely cared about these things. She wanted to sleep with her teacher? Well, she was gonna do exactly that. Keegan was a hot piece of ass and could get her far if she played her cards right. Not that she herself wasn’t good enough to score herself a role or two but having a former Broadway star on her side couldn’t hurt anyone.

Jealousy was always getting the better of Mariana. That’s how she ended up in Keegan’s bed, making sure he saved her all the good roles. And why she was leaving his place on campus right now, making sure no one saw her. There was nothing between them, no love, no feelings, no emotions. It was just raw needy sex to get them both what they wanted. And it worked.

Walking to the building, Mari put her million-dollar smile on and carried herself as if it all belonged to her. Being basically on top of her class really gave her that ego boost she needed. And she kept wondering what kind of announcement was waiting for them this time. There were supposed to be people from different grades which Mari found annoying. Especially with the little firsties there. Why? Why did she have to put up with them? And most of all, what chance they had to actually score a good role or whatever if Mariana Lopez was there with them?

The door flew open and the fiery Latina strutted inside the auditorium, expecting it to be full already. Imagine her surprise when it was not and when she finally realized that, she was in the middle of the room. Ugh. Great. The perfect diva entrance wasted on an empty room. A groan crawled out of her lips as she marched towards the very front row and dropped her bag on one of the seats. Her gaze scanned the room to see who the three other people there were and when she noticed a familiar face, Mari lifted her right, rings-encrusted hand and wiggled her fingers at Lexi, shooting her a typical half-smile. The young girl had potential and Mari saw herself in her not completely. She was also very much Tara-like. But Mariana liked to think that she and Tara were grooming Lexi into the next Starhill elite girl. Someone to continue their legacy when the senior girls were gone.

With a soft exhale, the brunette plopped down in her seat and crossed her legs elegantly while fishing her phone out of her pocket. “Are you coming, homegirl?” she shot a text to Tara, hoping her best friend was planning on making an appearance and that last night’s impromptu party at that frat house was not too hard on the blonde.

“No worries, grandma, all’s good. Yeah, of course. I’ll let you know. But I gotta run, don’t want to be late. Again.” Ethan spoke to his grandmother on the phone as he always did once a week. She wanted to have a full report on his activities. Not in a controlling way. More like, she wanted to know how his studies were going and if he needed any help. Not that he would ever ask. Even if he did need some help with a thing or two, he was already considered a weirdo and didn’t want to include his grandmother in solving his issues. Whether the studies or personal life.

Sure, he didn’t have a lot of problems with studying. Theoretical classes were easy for him. Such things were always easy, he simply remembered a lot and didn’t need to study that much. And his other classes just needed more practice and he would be good to go. Ethan was not much of a dancer. He handled contemporary quite well but things like hip hop or, god forbid, disco were not exactly up his alley. He managed to get through but he had to train harder and more than the others in his class.

And then there were duets or any kind of group work. That was the hardest thing because Ethan didn’t really have any friends at school. And people were not usually very keen on working with him. Just seeing him in any of his outfits was enough for them to back out and gave him those looks. Ethan got used to them already but even though it bothered him a bit and it was easy to just stop wearing his shit, he never wanted to compromise who he was. He was called everything and weirdo or Ethan the Creep were the lightest ones. People usually went for I'm uncultured, tranny, drag queen, queer and many other extremely offensive names. On the outside, Ethan kept smiling but inside, he was withering away. How was he supposed to live in the world that didn’t accept him the way he was?

With a sigh, he said goodbye to his grandma and gave himself another look in the mirror. His attire for the day was once again something no other boy would wear at this snobby school. But Ethan was satisfied, he adjusted the lapels of the jacket and nodded. “One last year. Just a few months and I’m gone.” he said quietly to his reflection and grabbed his bag to leave.

Ethan had already tried to graduate once. Last year. But all his efforts crumbled over a final performance where he was supposed to be a part of this larger group. They simply didn’t accept him and slowly but surely, pushed him out until hi gave up. There was no point in swimming against the waves. No one could force people to work with him and so it was only natural that Ethan was anxious. This was his last attempt. He wanted to graduate and leave the education part of his life behind, start his own career and maybe finally find someone who would accept him. It was essential for him to pass.

Coming to the auditorium, there were a few people scattered around. As usual, he got his fair share of looks on his way there which he returned with a smile and once there, the eccentric boy found his place in the back of the room. There people couldn’t see him directly and he always sat there on purpose, not to provoke anyone.
