NAME: Cecilia Navarre
FACECLAIM (realistic): Holliday Grainger
89b1efc2fd897378bc6eff4da8cb0455.gif
AGE (18-25): 20
SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Bisexual with no preference!
TITLE/RANK: Viscountess

PERSONALITY: Cecilia loves to joke that she is "terminally cheerful". She almost always has a smile on her face, and even when she is upset or disappointed, she never shows it. Some may call her a doormat but she prefers to just call herself helpful -- she is a people-pleaser and can never say no, regardless of how taxing the request may be. She works constantly to uphold this façade, only letting it drop when she is alone. She vents frequently in her diary and has a penchant for writing angsty (and not very good) poetry to get out her frustration. The reality is, she doesn't especially enjoy her life -- surrounded by a revolving cast of opportunistic fair-weather friends who disappear the moment she needs them, and a family who overlooks her for her younger brother, Theodore, no matter how she tries to impress them. No matter what, it seems like nothing is enough for those around her, and while she tries to brush this off, it can be really discouraging. Cecilia isn't even sure if finding love is her priority, but the festival represents an opportunity to escape her circumstances, and that is very appealing.

BACKGROUND (2+ paras): Cecilia was born to her parents, Eleanor and Harrison Navarre, and can remember feeling like a disappointment since day one. Her father was very traditional (read: misogynistic) and wanted nothing more than a strapping son who could "carry on his legacy" and inherit his estate. So, when Eleanor's first child ended up a girl, he found it... dissatisfying, to put it lightly. He largely ignored her when she was young, leaving Cecilia feeling rejected. Eleanor saw what was happening and tried to comfort Cecilia when she could, but it was still very sad for Cecilia. And soon enough, Eleanor's support was directed elsewhere, as Harrison was focused on having another child as soon as possible, and much to his delight, Theodore was born about a year and a half after Cecilia. It felt like the rug was pulled out from under her, with her only confidante suddenly busy caring for a newborn. Growing up, she fought to be noticed, always striving for perfection. However, it seemed that Theo was always just a step ahead and she could never escape from his shadow.

When she turned 16, Harrison started bringing up the possibility of marriage. Cecilia was horrified -- she hadn't even been on a date before, and marrying some stranger sounded miserable, especially while her carefree brother didn't have to concern himself with such matters. Eleanor expressed some concern as well that she may be too young, but this was quickly brushed off by her father. It became abundantly clear to Cecilia that he just wanted to get rid of her. She was nothing but a burden in his eyes, a problem to be disposed of. Eleanor managed to delay things a few years, but by the time Cecilia was 18, Harrison was dead set on marrying her off soon. The matchmaking process takes time, naturally, but about two years later, Harrison finally had a suitor lined up: Earl Christopher Bernadotte. He was perfect, or so she was told. He was of a higher social class. He was handsome! Rich! She would be happy with him, so they said. But none of this could change the fact that Cecilia didn't want to marry him! He was fine, sure. Good-looking enough, and a decent conversationalist... but it just wasn't what she wanted! Luckily, a last glimmer of hope came in the form of a festival. A festival of love, a festival to find The One! She begged her parents to participate, and they agreed, on one condition. If she failed, she would marry Christopher. No more stalling, no more arguing. She nervously agreed -- this was her only way out! She just had to get it right.

3-5 LIKES: Summer rainstorms, libraries, basil pesto, shopping for new dresses
3-5 DISLIKES: Horses, pollen, overly hot weather, chores
3-5 FEARS: Darkness, ending up unhappy, social embarrassment
EXTRAS?: Most people call her Ceci or Celia

NAME
Freja Dominique Chevalier
AGE (18-24)
21
SEXUAL ORIENTATION
Heterosexual
TITLE/RANK

Lady of the Court, Lady In Waiting, Lady Dominique de la Maison Chevalier
Visage & Temperament

07da49cb405f1553bf1a1084ff6427cdd413c9fa.gifv

APPEARANCE
Freja is a young woman possessed of a demure and innocent beauty. With long golden hair that flows like waves against sand, pale, dainty features, rose tinted cheeks, full lips and crystalline blue eyes, many have oft described her as almost angelic in appearance. Freja's poise is to be noted. The way in which she carries herself suggests a woman much taller than she is in reality. She is merely just above 5"5, yet appears to be much taller by her entire demeanour. This is not to say she is a large presence in any room, but she is certainly a noticeable one, giving off an air of tranquility and empathy. Freja's preferred colour scheme of apparel is usually pastel colours such as, powder blue and yellow, but sometimes also beiges and creams and she has a particular fondness for ivory.

PERSONALITY
At her core, Freja is on an eternal quest for harmony. She loves the idea of harmony with oneself and amongst others and tends to believe the best of people. This does not mean that she is easily fooled by flattery though. Freja is intuitive about the intentions of others and is able to read beyond the words said to the semantics beneath the surface. A generally cheerful woman, Freja is not one to experience too many bouts of melancholy because she is able to imagine her way out of that mode with grand stories. She is a natural diplomat, able to listen to and understand both sides of an argument and ignore her own personal biases in order to come to a resolution, something her father always told her would count in her favour.

Though Freja is a lady of the court and knows her place in society, she is of the belief that women have much to offer to society and will enforce this subtly by way of her natural diplomacy. Freja is aware that a woman can influence a man more than he thinks due to the fact that women are such an enigma to the opposite sex. Speaking of which, Freja will be the first to admit that she is a hopeless romantic and may hold up a man she admires on a slightly unreasonable pedestal, magnifying their good qualities and ignoring their flaws. She is a warm-hearted and devoted person, which extends to all social interactions and has a relentless love for humanity which could one day land her in trouble.

FEARS
Marrying a dishonourable man, her uncle Archibald, dying young

Personal History

BACKGROUND (2+ PARAGRAPHS)
Born to Count Richard Chevalier and Countess Saga Chevalier, Freja was their second child and only daughter. Her brother William was older by two years but unfortunately died of illness shortly after his birth. Seeing their daughter as a miracle from God, the nobles lavished her with affection and all the material possessions she could wish for. Freja herself did not particularly want for such things, having always been less preoccupied with objects and more so with other people.

Her father was not only a count, but a knight, honoured for his loyalty and military service to the kingdom. This meant that young Freja was to be trained in the ways of a model lady in waiting from a young age; court etiquette, languages, musicianship, diplomacy and other such things.
By the time she was nearing her sixteenth name day, she was deemed adequate enough to be presented as a lady in waiting. Although initially overwhelmed by the duty implied, she found that serving was pleasant.

Freja has now served as a Lady In Waiting for five years and knows her way around court well. She enjoys the company of other courtiers but does not particularly care for the gossip that spreads. Her parents are immensely proud of the young woman she has grown into and her mother is quite eager for her to marry a suitable noble as soon as possible. For now Freja is quite happy serving her queen and kingdom in her own quaint way and is somewhat intrigued by the idea of a 'Festival of Love' or 'Fête De L'amour' as she would call it.

THEME SONG
Love Story- Indila

QUIRKS
When particularly amused by something and in the company of close friends, Freja snorts when laughing

TRIVIA
Because her
father Richard is a knight and they have a close relationship, Freja knows more than the average woman about the art of war. When she was young her father taught her about swordplay, though her mother greatly discouraged this.

Freja is only called by her first name by her mother and father. To everyone else she is addressed as Lady Dominique.

Freja was named after the Norse goddess of love who is associated with
sex, lust, beauty, sorcery, gold, war, and death. The name Freja means 'Lady'.

SEXUAL ORIENTATION
Bisexual Homoromantic

TITLE/RANK
Bastard and Eldest daughter of Archduke (duke who is a relation to the royals) of Gainsborough
cousin once removed of the queen

PERSONALITY
At first sight, she appears hedonistic and carefree, to her nothing is serious or sacred and the most important thing is finding her next pleasure as soon as possible. However, this is an act, a mask she has build based on her reputation before her brother's death to make people underestimate her. Those that go against her soon find there is a highly intelligent and ruthless person behind her casual demeanour and flirtatious manner, everything she does usually have a reason and that principle it is the protection and improvement of her family. However, she is not perfect, a rough upbringing including being dogged by rumours of bastardy due to her red hair especially from her mother have left her a little unhinged, prone to paranoia and mood swings. Though she tries to keep herself controlled and measured, there are times when her mind get the better of her, and it can turn her against those closest to her.

BACKGROUND (2+ paras)
The second born of the current head of the Archduchy of Gainsborough, Theodora's life was controversial from the word go. Born with the green eyes matching either parent, quickly rumoured when about that she was a bastard. Though both parents' insistence otherwise, the rumours persistent particularly as she was connected to the queen and the loss in prestige even if not intentional seemed to sour the parents' relationship with their child. She was raised mostly by the hired nanny only minor interaction with her parents, made worse by the birth of her younger brother, a few years later focusing her parents' attention on her two brothers. The only member truly giving her any sort of attention was her eldest brother, Tacitus, with some mostly helping each other during their studies and adding some levity to long boring lessons.

Growing up in such an environment made her rebellious in her teen years. Particularly when she came of age when she was politically useful even as a potential bastard due to her gender. In her mind, if her parent were so against her growing up, why should she play along with their plans for their family? In any case no suitor they brought particularly appealed to her. If being ignored had any benefits, it was the fact she could indulge in things, like sleeping around, enjoy and drinks. Soon, rumours of her party girl nature became as wide spread as her bastardy, adding to the rift with her family. The rumours did not help relationships with others either, she would often see people pretend to be her friends and talk about her behind her backs and had been a victim of the games for power more than once. One such situation almost had her run a fowl of banditry, almost getting her killed or a slave somewhere outside kingdoms. Only Tacitus quick intervention allowed her to survive wit. Since then she was determined not to be fooled again and worked to be proficient in intrigue.

The death of Tacitus was a devastating blow to the Gainsborough family, particularly to Theodora, who lost the only person she considered a true friend and trusted person. Her hedonistic ways only became worse to the point of self-destructive, and more than once she was found close to death. After one such event, her father came and had a word with her and both reached a certain uneasy peace, and she agreed that her house needed to survive, and she had to take care of her younger brother. She would protect him for his own good if not for the family.

The festival of love was everything she hated about the nobility, having everything decided for her. Still one of the benefits of being a bastard was that she was unlikely to be made to participate, who would want someone with her reputation. She aspected just to go and be a guide to her brother. However, she was surprised to be specifically invited by the queen to join, she had little choice just to join.

    Ulisse d'Este
    Basic Information

    NAME: Ulisse d'Este
    AGE: 19
SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Heterosexual TITLE/RANK: Lord Ulisse, son of Duke Francesco of Ferrara, Modena, and Reggio

    Personal Information

PERSONALITY: An incredibly bright and honorable young man, Ulisse d'Este has been full of ambition from the day he was born. The young noble believes those born with the means to do something for the world have a duty to see it through by any means necessary, at any cost to themselves. To stand aside rather than act, to be so lazy as to waste one's natural born gifts, is the gravest of sins in his eyes.

He believes not that people should be fearless, but rather to act even in the face of great fear. Not that one should seek to harm others, but that they should be prepared to do must what must be done even if it isn’t pretty. Above all else however, that one should conduct themselves with honor and respect for others.

BACKGROUND: Ulisse and his brother Carlo were born twins, sons of the Italian Duke Francesco of Modena and as such children of the House of Este. Their mother, Maria Caterina Farnese, passed during childbirth and two years later Francesco d'Este married Maria's sister Vittoria Farnese and gave the twins a little half-sister named Maria d'Este in honor of Vittoria’s sister. Unfortunately it was only a year later that Vittoria passed away as well, leaving Francesco to raise the children on his own for three years until his third and final marriage to Lucrezia Barberini.

Francesco instilled honor and strength into his sons by any means necessary, pushing them hard in their lessons. He insisted both learn to wield a sword, instructing the twins himself as well as bringing in numerous teachers to train them. Ulisse took very well to the lessons, a natural with the blade and a master of strategy. By the time he was fifteen he was besting his instructors in both swordplay and chess. His brother took much more poorly to them, and this drove a wedge between the twins.

It was on the day of his sixteenth birthday that Ulisse met the man that would be his greatest teacher, an expert swordsman and master blacksmith by the name of Giovanni Bianchi. The much older man first struck the young noble as merely another instructor that would fail to measure up to his own prodigious skill. Ulisse soon found out however that despite his age and unimpressive appearance, Master Bianchi was more than his match in both wit and skill. He wielded a blade like a man several decades his younger, and could best even Ulisse in chess with less than a dozen moves.

Ulisse admired the man’s principles of honor, bravery, and optimism above all else. Giovanni further improved the young d’Este's swordplay, his grasp on strategic thinking, and even introduced to him the art of blacksmithing. The boy absorbed every ounce of knowledge his master bestowed upon him with earnest, and the two grew to have an unmatched bond.

As the twins’ came of age Lucrezia and Francesco has vastly differing opinions on which of them were better suited to be Francesco’s Heir, and often would Lucrezia try to persuade her husband into choosing Carlo rather than his favored Ulisse. This finally culminated in a bet, the proposition being that the first of the twins to be wed would in doing so earn the title of Heir. Upon receiving an invitation to the festival of love, both saw an opportunity to put their chosen Heir ahead.

NAME: Adelheid "Adie" von Meckler
AGE: 21
SEXUAL ORIENTATION: unsure
TITLE/RANK: Lady / Corporal

PERSONALITY: a woman of a serious expression and few words. Strict with herself and others, she has a deep respect for the authority and hard work, and has a natural dislike for hedonistic, carefree and lazy customs, a dislike she doesn't mind to express, but at the same time she has a sense of responsibility, the deep loyalty to the king and country , and the aristocratic duty of caring for the weak and the ignorant. Although she's not a violent person, she is not afraid of recurring to violence to defend herself and the honour of her family. Although she has a strong personality, just like any other girl of the rural nobility, she might be a little rude, naive or even vulnerable for the people of the big cities, perhaps she is.

Naturally, she has soft spots her an almost childish fear and admiration for her father, the strong warrior she desired to be, but also her fear and curiosity about a first love and coming to terms with her feelings, indeed she might be a young woman, but she has the heart of a teenager.

BACKGROUND: she is the youngest and sole daughter of the Count Georg von Meckler, the "one-eyed bear", and the deceased Lady Constance Gericht.

Her father's lands are located in the frontier of the kingdom and therefore he is responsable of defending the land and the people in name of his majesty, but in a land where weather and living is harsh and where frontiers are far from clear lines, the clashes with bandits and foreign parties are not unusual. For this impoverished and resented nobility endurance, bravery and fighting skills are not only highly appreciated, but needs for survival. She was a little child when her mother died in mysterious circumstances, there are rumours she was murdered by some bandits -who later were hung from the highest tree of the region-, but there are rumours that her murder was ordered from the capital by rivals of the old count or, worse, it was ordered by the count himself,

In these circumstances, Adelheid "Adie", learn to fight with fireguns, bladed weapons and her own fists in order to learn how to defend herself, and later, when the manpower of her father's guard shrinked, after that and with the non-written approval of her father she joined her father's light cavalry detachment and took part in several frontier skirmishes. She didn't receive any special treatment, instead she had to learn to share the scarce campaign rations and to march under heavy rain, and of course she soon had her baptism of fire and a growing collection of wounds.

In a though place like that there wasn't any space or need for feminity, therefore, unlike most noble girls she always had her hair short and never wore a dress or use make up, leading to many to think she was a boy, it was a though place, but it was more open and less hierarchical than the cities, commoners and nobles, civilians and soldiers could speak openly and the merit was valued above bthe birth.

However, still feeling the anger of her mother's murder and needing to prove she was as worthy as any (male) soldier she became an arrogant and fearless horsewoman, however, this made her careless many times and during a confuse melee cavalry fight she received a wound on her face that left a notorious scar on her left eyebrow.
